routine and relationship dynamic description. very gradual, turned out long. mentions of the harsh idol life, harassment, hints at sexual advances; jaded view of idol life. 8th member might be a tired concept but guys i haven't been here back in January so i am tapping into eve-ry-thing
you are added to the group the last
it's a controversial experiment for Big Hit. debuting a boy band with exactly one female member. they do not hold their breath: they believe in the failure. nobody expects BTS to actually succeed.
as the decision to add a girl is made much later, they are faced with the question whether to change the name of the band from "bulletproof boys" to "bulletproof youth". and they decide against it because of how little they care about the whole group
the bangtan trainees mostly oppose the idea, not only because it's a late addition, but also because it's a girl
they are told that they have to go on living all together, but with a girl. train as usual, but with a girl. share food and allowance, but with a girl
"that wasn't in the contract" - "none of this was in the contract"
the boys are terrified thinking of how this is going to shift things completely
Yoongi is one of the most opposing members, bringing up good points and complaining about it, but there's not much he can do.
a couple of days before you arrive the boys have a meeting with the management. they are told that the girl (you) is coming and there's one rule
no hookups or relationships. it should be clean, friendly and disciplined. if there's even a whiff of anything similar to attraction or flirting, or drama, the member caught is out without the second warning
at the time the members do not see it as a problem, in fact, they do not even consider it a danger because of how preoccupied they are. they don't want to mess with anybody; they don't want anybody
actually they mostly see you as an enemy and an obstacle because they believe you will be a bad addition. nobody's even thinking about the funny stuff; they are cautious, unsure and reserved
when you arrive, you try to be cool and calm, and they try to be polite and non-hostile
the first person you notice is Namjoon: he is going to be your roommate, your companion and most likely your best friend (you couldn't be further from the truth: they will all become your friends soon)
you speak good English, so Namjoon is naturally drawn to you and you click in spite of his initial unwillingness. "hey, that might actually work..."
first impressions:

Namjoon: mature, normal guy, too burdened by his leader role, super focused, kind, helpful. will not make you uncomfortable even if he tries. feels like he is already your friend. you are born in the same year, several months apart, the same zodiac, the same introversion deep down under ambiversion.

Hoseok: painfully shy, glaring at you curiously from a distance. you can see instantly that a smile is his natural reaction to everything, and you actually flinch when the teacher snarls at him, and he smiles. this is the first of many times you get an urge to protect. he seems kinda small, fragile, and only relaxes when he is dancing or sleeping

Jimin: seems like a menace. his smile is too oily, and yet he shifts from being flirty to completely closed down. he seems like somebody you want to know better because at first you can't figure out his role in the group: is he the main dancer or the vocal? or the visual?

Jungkook: b a b y. you drop one look at him and, even though he is already your height, you get motivated to stand on his side. his round cheeks and still childish eyes make you question why the hell the company would hire such small kids. he is already sixteen, but he feels younger, he is super sweet and you do not feel threatened at all

Yoongi: the quiet ghost in the corner of the room giving you contemplating, evil looks. sharp jaw and the eyes that are too expressive. however, once he opens his mouth, he turns out to be polite and balanced. he gives you the trustworthy quiet helper vibe. it feels like acting on camera during making the content drains the energy from him

Jin: sage. he is so tall and adult that you unintentionally keep your back more straight in his presence. you passionately want to earn his respect because you see how he is soft and helpful with the guys but cautious with you. to you, he shows his colder side, and it kicks in the natural instinct of winning him over

Taehyung: soulmate. you click immediately. you joke at the same time, then start laughing, and your laughing voices harmonize, and you look at each other surprised. at the very beginning, he is on par with Namjoon the closest person who provides the initial comfort in a highly uncomfortable situation
you look at them seven and the hammer strikes. if you can't match them, you must at least do everything not to hold them back as a team. they are already familiar with each other, and now your job is to force them to accept you and see you as equal. it's going to be brutal
the first genuine contact:
you help Jungkook with his English homework. and by helping, you mean do it for him. he sits next to you at the desk, clicking the pen on it, while you write and try explaining things to him simultaneously
the first week you feel super lonely in the dorm because you and the SEVEN BOYS you live with walk around each other like wild animals, sniffing. all interactions are awkward: reaching for something in the cupboard at the same time and flinching like the hands touching is the worst thing that's happened in the last hundred years
blushing when you meet each other in the vicinity of the bathroom
you don't even pee when someone is nearby
you have a lot of stuff and sometimes it gets mixed up with the boys' things, and they get confused whose towel or shirt it is
the first week, in fact, is wildly stressful, because it's like jumping into ice-cold water while surrounded by sharks who don't bite but give you weird, awkward side eyes. Namjoon is too nerdy to provide insightful comfort, and Taehyung gets flustered in others' presence so he starts saying stupid shit
however the ice starts melting when you find Jungkook sobbing at that tiny desk punctured in between the clothes rack and the dinner table
it's about homework, but also his leg hurts, but also he misses his mum, and he is behind on his studies, and his voice isn't working properly
he's telling you all this with his head turned around, red like an apple, and you open up and decide that you aren't going anywhere anyway, and these boys aren't either
you hold him the way only a woman can hold a child. the other boys take really good care of Jungkook: he is fed, dressed, he is mostly comfortable and generally happy all the time. but the friendly and protective touch of a woman's hand makes sixteen-yeard old Jungkook break down and cry on your shoulder, while you stroke his head and tell him that he is safe
you try to make it very clear that he is safe with you and you won't tell anybody. try to tell him that getting tired is fine and the best thing he can do is break down when he feels like it
Yoongi witnesses the end of it, when Jungkook is already wiping his nose, and your hand is still on his head, stroking him like a kitten
this incident facilitates the eventual onset of closeness
suppose Yoongi clocks a certain feature in you, that he himself also has: the impulse to protect and comfort, and it makes him a little relieved
the hyung line starts taking care of you subtly: first of all, the boys get rid of the habit of avoiding eye contact. then you start smiling at each other.
a week later you have a collective conversation in the kitchen at night, warming up to each other
who initially has a crush on you
everybody
for most of them (6/7) it's short, the shortest for Namjoon because you're not his type. instead, he amalgamates into the older brother persona with quite a lot of satisfaction about it. he already has a younger sister and has experience, he is familiar with the problems that arise with having one, and sees that you need him in that way
Jimin drops it when he sees you aren't the ideal girl he has been picturing you as. as he knows you more, his infatuation dissipates into respect and reliability. he relies on you in many things because he has that childish persona and really likes to be taken care of. he actually exploits this quality of yours a little bit, seeing that, in the impulse to be perceived as good, you go out of your way to help them
Taehyung isn't even sure if he had a crush on you, he hadn't noticed. he just knows you're cool and he was the one who opposed the girl member addition the least of them all. he was never fully against it
Jungkook has a crush on you in a surprisingly innocent way even though he is almost an adult. he knows it's more of an awe because he just imprinted slightly when you love-bombed him in the very beginning. he grows fiercely protective of you and is the first of all the boys to start calling you sister
Hoseok's crush dies quietly when he reminds himself of the rule that management enforced on them. he understands why it's there and totally agrees with it. he is an incredibly focused and motivated person, so he takes a second look at you, and goes, no, and switches it off for good. he is cautious and quiet around you, and for the longest time you feel like a wild nature photographer that is chilling on the ground, waiting until the antelope loses alert
Jin's crush was more out of curiosity and the whiplash of change. it doesn't last and wouldn't have even if all of a sudden you told him you liked him. instead, he gains respect for you when he sees your striving to work as much as they do and even more. Jin ends up being the most perceptive protector of yours, who clocks your exhaustion first. he approaches you very soon into the shared living and working, and tells you not to run too fast, or you'll burn out
Yoongi doesn't do anything about his crush and isn't alarmed when it doesn't cease. he thinks it's irrelevant. two things are unchangeable: you are not going away. and second: you are off limits. coexisting with his liking of you is easy because he sees you literally every waking minute
actually for the longest time he believes that all the other members are in love with you and it's a norm, and is very surprised when they talk about it and say, uh, no, not really
then he's like, uh oh. while Hoseok's crush floats up and bursts like a bubble, Yoongi's feeling suddenly sinks down and cements itself somewhere deep
you don't call the older ones oppas: you absorb their habit and call them hyungs
the first year together:
you debut all together, after some time during which you grow close and start trusting each other. the first year is tough because it's still friction. would've been much easier if you were a boy, of course.
there are inconveniences, awkwardness and surprises in every aspect of your lives
they need to adjust choreo for you because it needs to reflect on the female presence and make it your collective IT factor
the boys need to kiss all their previous concepts goodbye: that they will be a boy band; that they will all be equal (now there's this 'we have a special factor' dynamic); that they will do exactly what they were promised; that they can fart into each other's faces in the morning as a method of waking up those who don't hear the alarm clock
for some reason they cannot see themselves farting into your face
you prove to become spicy if tackled.
people aren't having it at all. BTS are bullied, ridiculed, ignored and talked down to all the time
the boys gather around Jungkook and focus on the work, trying to ignore the negativity
they are surprised when they find out yet another feature of yours
you laugh off the hate towards you, which you get a lot, but become feral when someone insults them
you hesitate whether to accept me? well, tough luck, i accepted you
because you told yourself "we are stuck together, so I'll better make the most of it" and now you live by this
you feel so lonely; the only girl, the weakest one, the shortest one, different dancing style, different voice, different rhythm, different low points. in order to survive this loneliness, you shut your feelings off and concentrate on getting them on your side
also, that one time you comforted Jungkook gave you an idea that boys are just that - boys, and not stone-cold machines, and might even react positively to your friendly attitude
long story short, you start releasing your tension out on people who dare to insult them
you lash out at radio hosts who speak to them in a condescending way
"you think you guys can be rappers?" "they already are. care to explain your problem with it?"
you bite back at the people who don't believe in them and ridicule them: "let's take it outside? or you just gonna pick on an eighteen year old boy?"
"so, how's that Korean rap boy band going?" - "it's going super well, and not sideways, but your jaw will"
a couple of times the hyung line has to restrict you physically
Seokjin realizes these reactions may be a problem
Namjoon indulges your temper because for the first time, he is partially relieved of his weight. he isn't the only one who speaks English; he isn't the only one who is in the avant-garde
Yoongi sees through your anger and the short fuse and is like, oh shit. she is going to snap sooner or later. he understands this aggression is a response to the tension this work puts on you
he starts taking care of you little by little, like a doctor, but not medically
he does it humanly. a coffee. brings you the hoodie you'd forgotten at the studio. surrenders the window seat to you. pushes you behind when the reporters or staff are male and look at you for too long
you start associating Yoongi with safety
there's a talk about you having to visit a certain hotel to meet a certain "business partner", and before you can respond, the boys go "no" in unison
you realize, even if you aren't all best pals yet, and you've only been with them for six months, and debuted like two months ago, they will protect you at least on the very basic level
it finally kills your stress-induced insomnia
you start feeling like a team
you harmonize the best with Jimin and Taehyung
you start training even more, running yourself into the ground, to prove to them that you have earned your spot here; that they won't regret standing up for you; that they won't have to pull their punches because you're a girl
exhaustion blackouts for which you feel very guilty
your periods sometimes don't come for months because of the stress
you have a specific conversation between the eight of you, where you discuss the situation the company put you in. it was an experiment. it also felt like they were setting you up for failure from the beginning. trying to clash you and them. inconveniencing them by bringing a girl. antagonizing you.
you all look at each other and decide to succeed in spite of the company
from then on, you begin to intentionally learn to live together
"good morning", "how are you?" "did you sleep well?" "let's do it" "you go first please" "you did great". positive sabotage
they start saying "pads" without fainting. start living with the idea that the shower cabin where they stand naked, is the same spot where you also stand naked
they become more okay with touching you when it's not during the training and not a part of choreo
hugs
they do not let you do the dishes or clean the bathroom. for the whole first year you do not do either of those things; they take turns instead of you
how they deal with your stress:
Jungkook is the sweetest and is direct. "What can I do? Why are you crying?" and you cry A LOT. after some time, you stop hiding when you feel like crying, and stop feeling guilty when you get injured. there's no way to escape them anyway. there's SEVEN of them. at any given point of time, you're bound to be walked in on by a member.
Jin talks to you like a wise elder, providing practical advice
Jimin is the fairy that flaps around and tries to distract you or make you laugh so that you stop crying
Taehyung cries with you and offers his shoulder. he is the first who invents the lifehack: how to stop Y/N from crying. he begins sharing his own troubles, and you switch immediately and forget about yours
Hoseok tries to make himself scarce, hoping that someone else will handle you. when there's no other choice, he just sits next to you quietly, horrified
Yoongi provides efficient physical comfort; when there are other people around while you're in tears, he pulls the hood onto your head; if it's due to an injury, he caters to it; if it's just stress and loneliness, he elects to call Jungkook or Namjoon because he himself avoids hugging you
and it's not even embarrassment (sometimes he is so tired that he doesn't even get a boner); he is just distant like that
Namjoon = bear hugs. he is the authentic older brother who lets you cry on his chest
Yoongi is the only one who isn't affected by your rage. when you snap, whether it's at a person, or at an object that inconvenienced you, he doesn't get scared like the others. he is the mediator who pulls you away or picks the broken parts of a chair, and his silent courtesy makes you feel very guilty for the outbursts
his gentle acceptance of your character is the factor that pushes you to practice better control of your emotions
Seokjin also tells you that it's super nice that you are ready to murder people to protect the boys, but it has to stop, because it only creates more trouble
you become known as, at best, the wild card of the band
at worst, you're the attention seeker
in truth, you are in the inherently losing position. no matter what you do, you will be the scapegoat and the target. a girl in a boy group
as the fandom gradually grows, many of the fans see you as the red cloth. if you're quiet, you're boring. if you're loud, you're trying to get attention. if you're smart, you're a know-it-all. if you act silly, you're flirting with your mates. you're ugly. you're too pretty. you're fat. you're too thin. you dance too girly. you sing too high. you eat too funny. you speak too loud. you sleep wrong.
the boys gradually understand that this is your designated spot, and this is the weight you take upon yourself. as they get familiarized with the public and how it perceives you, their love for you grows
what unites you with each of them:
Namjoon: shares everything with you. you are the two smart ones who speak good English. you are also roommates and he is the last person you see before you go to sleep
Seokjin: at the moments of lethal social exhaustion, when you are both drained to zero, you sit in the kitchen with glassy eyes and chew on cornflakes straight out of the pack, without speaking. you are the only one who understands the visceral hatred for people he sometimes has; you recharge off of each other a little
Jimin: similar voices. you are paired for the performances often; and your roles are playful mates. you joke a lot together. with time, you start mimicking his uninhibited charisma, and he starts mimicking your dry, zero-bullshit snappy attitude
Taehyung: he feels like a soulmate. you like the same movies, the same books. he has impressive emotional vulnerability coupled with purely artistic selfishness, and you instinctively want to keep it alive in him. he appreaciates your attention and the fact that you forgive him for anything he does. he feels you treat him like a piece of art
Jungkook: becomes loyal to you. where you go, he goes. what you eat, he wants a bite of. when you fall down, he is on the spot in a flash, picking you up. when you're sick, he is the first to puff his chest and argue with the management to get you at least one day off
Hoseok: for the longest time, you just coexist together, trying to find common things. until you catch him in the kitchen one night, watching youtube and sobbing. he has soft, vulnerable darkness to him. you don't dare to wrap your arms around him like you do with Jungkook as he guards his personal space. the thing that unites you is the mutual respect of people who start growing similar habits. you start eating at the same time. you have similar headaches and both become sadder in November.
Yoongi: is a mystery to you. he is like the mountain that provides you haven when you need it. he has that dry laughter that betrays his maturity. he is ready to give you the shirt off his back, but doesn't let you in. he'll be like, eat my portion and go away ok? you both like your alone time and often prefer to stay in the dorm during the free hours, so you end up in the different corners of the rooms. clashing in the kitchen. you develop huge respect for him because you write a lot of lyrics, and he writes music. you think you should bond about it. Yoongi really starts looking you in the eye after you begin bringing your prose to him, asking to take a look
how you inconvenience them:
the thing that irritates them the most is crying. each member reacts differently to it: Hobi and Seokjin are almost openly annoyed when they realize that you cry too often. Jungkook is always wounded by it. Namjoon isn't very annoyed, neither is Taehyung. Taehuyng also cries often, so he isn't affected by it. Yoongi is always trying to get to the root of the problem. studies your reactions like a scientist. he is the first one to clock your heightened emotional reactivity. he tells the others about it and they ask well, how do we cure it. Yoongi laughs and says, we don't. we deal with it
you are a little messy and even though you work on it, sometimes the natural forgetfulness makes you leave things untidy or your things scattered. Hoseok and Jin are usually the ones to yell about it
loud singing in the shower. you and Namjoon are the main perpetrators
"you are supposed to be the vocalist, not the dying alpaca"
you get stress-induced insomnia and sometimes wander around at night. the only one who isn't mad about it is Yoongi because he works at nights
you get periods (when you do). sometimes you get tired more than them. you are physically weaker, and no matter what you do, or how much you strain yourself, you will never have their stamina. they never show it, but you know they do not run as fast as they could have without you, and it actually becomes a very, very deep sore in you and creates this sort of trauma and complex in you. coupled with the public reactions, it cements the perception of yourself: you're the weak point of the band. the members don't think that. in the second year they realize the concept grows on them. they stand out among mono-gender groups. they are easily recognizable. they have a draw of male fans because of you. in a twist of irony, the more they like your presence, the less you like it.
sooner rather than later you decide to make them get used to your body. you are, after all, bound to get revealing outfits for performances, as well. in the dorm, when it's hot, you walk around in shorts. you don't hide. sometimes you might walk around in the towel after the shower, looking for something. they know they need to get accustomed to it
hair everywhere
the female energy. you chat during breakfast. yelp about things. nag to keep the movie on and not switch the channel
low pain limit
they sometimes fight about 'spoiling you'. "you only bought this xyz food because you know Y/N likes it. but we are all going to eat it!"
trying not to exploit their natural male impulses to give in to you. if they want to ride bikes along the river, and you want to go to the park, they are inclined to go to the park. you start demanding they do what they want
trying to kill the 'it's okay, she's a girl' ideology. it means you bear the same responsibility but also the same agency. you start doing dishes and cleaning the bathroom in the second year.
you are delicate. they are boys. you get blisters on your feet - you do not hide it and whine about it
hair ties everywhere
how they inconvenience you:
brutal jokes that they need to tone down sometimes
pranks aren't always pleasant

feet into your face. rude nudging to wake you up (they do not see it as rude. it's just "gentle" wake up shove)

if Seokjin accidentally pushes Hobi, he sways a little. if Seokjin accidentally pushes you, you fly over and crash into the floor. if Namjoon accidentally slaps you during the change of position, your head hoots for the rest of the night. if Jimin wants to catch and tickle Yoongi, Yoongi smacks him and it's over before it began. if Jimin wants to do that to you, he simply lifts you above the ground and you have no way of escaping

they watch MMA and SCREAM
one day you're the group princess, the other day you're the punching bag
you start boxing because sometimes it's impossible to break out when they get agitated, they forget that even the smallest of them is still very big and heavy against you
how they protect you:
at the airport, they quickly learn that sweeping you off your feet is too easy. they invent the oval walk. they form an oval around you and you walk all together, you hidden by their shoulders from the cameras and hands. you witness Jungkook's cheek getting scratched once, and he just shrugs it off with the most loving look
NO. Y/N isn't going to a "meeting" in a "hotel".
they check the fanmail and remove the creepy letters that are addressed to you. for the first couple of years, while the mail is handled within the group personally, you have no idea what male fans want to do to you. after, as the amounts of mail begin to overflow, and it is delegated to managers, you are left in the state of shock
"this whole time they have been writing poems about my tits??"
they do not expect you to perform on a male level. sometimes you do and they don't mention it either. they treat you as an equal.
Yoongi is the one who fences sexist questions with the sharpness of an assassin. he doesn't smile about it either, doesn't try to turn it into a joke.
"so, Y/N, which member do you find the most attractive?" Yoongi: "why didn't you ask me this question? i have a favourite one, it's Jimin". "Y/N, what diets are you on to keep that pretty body of yours?" Yoongi: "she only consumes human male meat". he makes a point to mention that you write a lot of lyrics, all the time. after Yoongi, the others pick up on this habit and try to focus on your lyrical and artistic input more than your looks and 'female presence'.
Seokjin's version: "y/n, so do you cook for the boys?" he snorts loudly. "you should see the attempts. no-no-no"
covering you when you're in revealing outfits. Hoseok will pretend to suddenly get very interested in the camera lense when you are in a short skirt and need to do splits on a variety show. Jungkook will outstretch his arm point at something for the other members if your top is revealing too much of your cleavage. Namjoon will put a towel on your knees
when the outfits get ridiculous, they won't wait for your protests. Yoongi will be like: is that for Seokjin? no? huh
giving deadly looks to people who clearly try to get too close to you
they secretly enjoy being the 'go through us first' bunch for you. each of them has this soft, gender-bending persona to some extent. but they switch back to very manly when there's a need to keep an eye on you
adjusting their whole existence to your presence: you are never the tail of the walk. at least one pair of eyes is on you when you're not at the dorm
Jungkook definitely jumps a guy at least once to protect you.
when the hopes are low:
while you are still struggling to lure people to your shows, you blame yourself for being the dragging factor. you always think that if they were a purely boyband, they would already be successful. after all, they are called "bulletproof boys", not "bulletproof boys and Y/N".
you express this self-doubt rarely because you don't want to be an even bigger burden. the response is always the same:
yah! who put this nonsense into your head? you shut up, you write like 50% of the songs! what are we supposed to do without you? sing na-na-na for three hours straight?
Jungkook won't find his shoes without you
don't say that, i just learnt to tie a ponytail!
sharing modest dinners
them secretly deciding to eat less; if each of them gives up just one spoonful of soup, you will get more. they see you are growing thin; they gaslight you by saying you're imagining things and the portions are absolutely identical. in fact, they say, you're undereating
sharing clothes, painkillers and bandaids. emergency muscle rubs. incredible survival-level health hacks to stay conscious learnt from great-grandmothers. carrying each other literally. "hold on one more hour, okay?" drinking one can of red bull all together
you teaching Jungkook to sew the holes closed. Yoongi teaching you to fix your night stand. you teaching Jimin to stop the nose bleed. Seokjin teaching you to make a sustainable meal out of two noodles, an egg and a pepper with salt. you teaching Namjoon to pick the lock. Hoseok teaching you to cover the cuts with foundation. you teaching Taehyung to sleep in sitting position. amalgamating into each other.
by the third year they know how many pairs of underwear you have and which colours can't be washed together. you know which foods upset their stomachs and read their exhaustion from the hum
the only time they come even close to exploiting you is when you wander around the city in America, handing out flyers to your show, and they notice that guys accept them eagerly from you. they ask you to tell the passersby that it's a girl group. you agree.
sleeping together on the dance studio floor, only to discover they had huddled around you, warming you with their bodies like badgers. even Hobi and Yoongi.
by the time you finally make it, you eight know each other and trust each other with your lives. you conduct a thought experiment: you imagine you collapsed in the shower naked and need assistance. which one are you comfortable with helping you? the answer for you now is any one of them.

so on royalroad, the english-language serial webnovel website, there's ads created by users for other stories at the top of each chapter - you know, for the common case where you're reading a book and you want to suddenly start reading a different book. (they set it up in a way that's fiddly to block.)
they're kinda fascinating? I almost want to start collecting them. they triangulate into genres with bulletpoints. isekai. cultivation. reincarnation. yes romance. no romance. harem. no harem. some of them use anime-styled art or fantasy concept art (most likely a lot of it either AI-generated or used without permission/attribution, I get the vibe)... but a lot of them are straight up just memes.
hell lemme just refresh the page a bit and see what I get. I'm only a liiiiittle selective here.

and sure, it's just the same as the AO3 tagging system with a different set of aesthetic priorities right? people are searching for stories which scratch a very specific itch. but there's something weirdly fascinating in advertising a story based on how formulaic it is. or ads for a novel that look like ads for a mobile game. how so many of them refer to their protagonist as 'MC'.
I assume this like, works, or people wouldn't do it? Same principle as long light novel titles. otaku database theory stuff. I just... don't really get it! who's it for?

this is long. i hope you like reading (and grayscale progress pics). and of course!!! disclaimer before we begin that this is just how I, personally draw comics. there is no "right way."

Switching my typing to make this more legible...
My process can kinda be broken down into 6 steps:
Brainstorming
Thumbnailing
Sketching
Panels & Text
Lines
Tones/Colors
1. Brainstorming
My brain is a leaky sieve on a good day, so I sloppily jot down ideas in my phone notes the moment I have them. This helps me when it's time to draw too, because if I feel art blocked, I can look through old concepts and see what catches my interest.
Otherwise, I love drawing for other people's writing. :) And if worst comes to worst, doing manga/comic page redraws in my style teaches me new things every time.
Once I have my idea, I'll usually make a bulletpoint list of "plot points" or "story beats" I want. Then I plan the comic with this format that I've adapted from a tutorial I read once. I'm going to use my most recent comic (original comic post) as an example.

I start in the third column, writing notes of what I'd want to see in each panel. I also include the dialogue (in this case, I didn't have to write the dialogue! it's from the fanfic linked in the original comic post!). I usually write the whole name like [Luffy:], but at this point I've drawn so much of these guys, just the first letter works.
I like to handwrite these notes to get an idea for how much text I'm putting in a single panel.
After I describe all the panels, I go back and separate them into pages. I can't tell you how to know how many panels to a page. It's whatever works for you. I just kinda know about how big each panel will be, and so I can feel when I'm probably running out of space. (Also. You can change things later. I don't in this example, but I add/drop pages/panels all the time.)
2. Thumbnailing
Thumbnailing—as the name suggests—should be done tiny. Too tiny to accidentally get sucked into details.
This is about marking down blobs where items/characters go, and figuring out the paneling. I'll draw and redraw these a bunch of times too.
This is also the most time-consuming/brain-working part for me. If I were in a zine that did progress percentage, I'd try to finish thumbnailing around the 50% mark (but I'm also a moderately fast artist, so your mileage may vary).

I think the terrible quality makes them charming, actually. I really like how silly they look. :')))
I will add, when you draw your "page" rectangle, make sure it's the same proportions as your actual canvas for the final image. You want an accurate idea of how much space each panel will take up, especially if you have a lot of text.
3. Sketching
This is my most recent change to my usual workflow, and it's saving me a lot of time. I make my thumbnails a bit bigger (each one about half the size of the final canvas), and I sketch these basic body forms right over them.

It just helps give me placement for my actual lines!
I usually draw these in a paleish color so I can lower the opacity and not get distracted by them while lining. The random darker parts are to either help keep two forms separate (like when two characters have their limbs all over) or to better define sections that were too sloppy/poorly proportioned.
I also think this helps my poses stay looser, because I have more dramatic/wriggly shapes that aren't too bogged down by proportions yet.
Sidenote: I CANNOT show this here, but sometimes this is when I take videos. Of myself. I prop my phone camera up and shoot a video of me acting each panel. :/// It looks really dumb, but it also shows me fun body language ideas like hand gestures, expressions, weight distribution, etc. Just pretend you're an overdramatic cartoon character, and try not to worry about your roommates or mother walking in on you doing odd things. (You can also use the video for anatomy reference later, but I usually just capture the vibe and don't try to copy the actual video frame.)
4. Panels & Text
Oh, boy. So, the panels are usually just straight lines (though it's fun to make creative exceptions, like a round panel to mimic looking through a spyglass), but there are some fancy rules that I don't strictly adhere to.

I believe (I have no technical training in this. Take everything I say with a grain of salt) the vertical gaps (between two side-by-side panels) should all be a consistent width and the horizontal gaps (between two panels on top of each other) should be another. The vertical ones? Should be thinner? Because you want the eye to easily glide between them, whereas the horizontal gaps should be a visual barrier to keep you from jumping ahead. Just something I've vaguely noticed.
There are lots of fun "default layouts" you can look up. Or keep it a consistent grid. I think it's fun to sometimes have characters/objects sticking out of panels and overlapping others. This is just a matter of taste, creativity, and inspiration. (Read Witch Hat Atelier... It has some of my favorite paneling...)
You may also notice I have already done the speech bubbles. This is, to me, a crucial step. This helps me catch early if I don't have enough room for all the words. It also lets me plan the art in each panel with the speech bubbles in mind. There's nothing worse than working really hard on a panel, and then you realize there's no room for the bubbles.
I also try to lay them out in a way that guides the eye! Even without art, can people tell where to go next? Better yet, if I want people to look at panels out of order (aka not left to right, in my case), can I use the speech bubble path to make them? Here's just a vague example of what I mean.

As an added bonus, doing speech bubbles early also allows me to be lazy! :) Ignore the comic; I'm not supposed to post it yet oops,, There's a whole lot of drawing to do on each comic page, and I am not wasting my time on stuff that will be covered up. So yes, if I hide my bubbles, there are a lot of unfinished lines trailing off into nothing. (As a bonus, if there's a part of a character you're struggling with—and it won't look weird to do so—you can move speech bubbles to just hide the problem area yayyy)

Making the actual bubbles could be their own whole tutorial, tbh, but there are some general guidelines I use.
Zoom out when you choose your font size. You want to know how it will look to the average reader, so it isn't super teeny tiny or way too big. You generally want to keep the same text size for all your pages/bubbles.
When I draw bubbles, I try to size them about one vertical letter height (and some change) around the words [left side]. This isn't always the case though, because humorously large or funny shaped text bubbles can convey different feelings [right side].

On Procreate, I set my bubble lines to Reference and just drag-and-drop the white fill on a separate layer below the lines. (Remember to turn Reference back off again when you're done, or your fill bucket won't work right when you're drawing.)
To get the white outlines I use to keep the bubbles from cluttering up the art, I literally just Gaussian blur an all-white copy of the lines + fills... and then I copy and merge it 5 times until it's opaque enough. This is a terrible way to do it, but it works for me. :')

5. Lines
This is the part that I can't tell you how to do. I literally just. Draw right over my wacky sketched body forms. Boom. Comic drawn.

I'll make three suggestions:
Don't focus on making every panel perfect. Give a little extra love to big ones or ones you want people to linger on. Otherwise, know that people are typically speeding through the art. It's way more important to focus on storytelling than art technique. In my opinion, a good story that's told well will always be better than a beautiful one told poorly. (Some comics are beautiful AND well-written... Alas, I am just a hobbyist who needs to get the ideas out of my head at top speed.)
Put your background lines on a different layer. Put your foreground lines on a different layer too, if you have those. Basically, I try to keep the main part of each panel (usually a character or object) on my lines layer so I can erase background/foreground/etc lines to ensure clarity/focus.
You can make background lines lighter colors too. I have too many numbers sorry. (1) Background. The stuff that's farthest away. Lightest lines. Few details; more focused on shapes and the suggestion of a background (I'm not good at backgrounds). (2) Midground. Same distance away as the characters are. Lines can be black. (3) Also midground, and also the same distance away. But they're very detailed, so I lighten them so they aren't so distracting. (4) The characters. Black lines for focus. For people who haven't seen the comic, I swear they are just hugging. This is SFW. D:

6. Tones/Colors
Do not. Do NOT ask me. I don't understand colors. I hate working with them, but I try because I want to improve. I hate doing anything beyond the simplest grayscale shading. Please go elsewhere for your coloring/tone advice. This is how my color picker looks 95% of the time. I have pre-set "percentages" of black that I got by lowering the opacity of a black layer and just color picking it. I don't even know the exact percentages I used. Good luck out there. 7. Sharing
This is a bonus step that I didn't mention earlier, but it's actually the most important of all of them.
You need a friend. Or maybe a groupchat or discord. A family member or coworker if you're really close like that. I don't know.
Find SOMEWHERE you can spam wips and be cheered on. Drawing comics takes a while, especially if you're trying to tell longer stories than I'd dare to attempt. If I don't force someone to praise me for every line I draw, I shrivel up and die.
Also if and when you post online, add alt text. I'll admit I'm the first person to complain and drag my feet on this, and I literally use a screenreader myself when my eyes hurt (strong prescription glasses wearer). Comics should be accessible, because stories are fun and everyone should be able to enjoy them.

Learning???
And I guess lastly, how do you learn to make comics? Two steps: 1) read them and 2) make them. This is the tragedy of creating things.
1) Reading them: I grew up reading comic strips, western serialized comics, and webcomics. I've always loved graphic novels too. Then in late middle school, I started reading manga (Death Note and Haikyuu were my first two), and now I'm trying to read more webtoons (sorry im so slow bree)!
I also... mass-consume doujinshi, thanks to proxy mailing services and bilingual friends/Google Translate/knowing some Korean. (I have an entire bookshelf of doujin, actually,,)
The thing is, it's not usually enough to just read comics. You also need to be thinking. :/ I notice paneling, comic devices, clever comedic timing, etc. as I go. It's just a lot of studying/learning while also enjoying the story.
2) Making them: You just have to start. :( Even if you think they're "bad." My first comics were actually just drawings placed randomly all over the page, connected by speech bubbles (yay... I was already practicing how to place bubbles to lead the eye around the page...). I was going to post a pic here, but I'm a coward. Backscroll my account and you can find some older ones though.
I also know my art in general improved dramatically when I did ten comics in ten weeks for my friend's fic. Don't do this. It hurt my hands/wrists. But do practice in moderation.

If you actually read all that... I hope it made even a modicum of sense. And maybe it was even helpful? Just know at the end of the day, there is literally no right way to draw a comic.
And if you aren't ready to go for it yet, you can start by just adding a couple speech bubbles to your illustrations or doodles! It's a way to add storytelling and dialogue writing to things you may already be making.

As far a g3 Robecca goes I don't think they'd have to change much. Like steampunk robot girl who the ghouls find in pieces in the catacombs and put back together. She's sporty but also a little clueless about modern cultures. Unbeknownst to her and those around her there is an important vampire relic being used as a part of her power core.
-she has no idea how to use a cell phone or social media and she types all her school essays on a typewriter
-i like the idea that the ends of her hair sorta billow and poof like some kinda airy substance.
-shes always rollerskating everywhere instead of walking and occasionally challengea the wolf pack to races
-she's been disconnected for long enough that she also doesnt know any modern slang but does know a bunch of victorian slang
-i think if she was rebooted for g3 they'd make Hexiciah Steam also a robot or more of a cyborg.

I feel like Rwby having a linear plot/story that's mostly focused on that is what causes a lot of people who are used to shounen or other media pieces with"filler" or one off episode with the characters just existing and doing little side adventures to be angry. Early Rwby had mire episodes like this but even then it was more linear than most series like it. Idk I understand wanting more moments where characters are just going on side quests or having fun, but this just isn't that type of show, Rwby feels more like your watching a storybook playout, think like how stageplays function, with a beginning middle and end. and I think some miss that point
honestly it always reads to me like "how dare they not include this - they should have included it and had it to even better quality than it is and delivered it in the same time for the same budget but they didn't because they're bad writers/animators/producers, i, an armchair critic with no practical experience in any of these fields, could have done it way better"
there's a complete - and fully intentional - disconnect in understanding how show production works because complaining and making the lives of everyone involved as miserable as possible (thinking back to the flash freeze in Texas when the last few chapters of volume 8 had to be delayed so RT employees could prioritise not freezing to death and some terminally online dipshit started harassing Kerry and saying he was bad at his job for not already having the episodes done - deliberately ignoring the concept of post-production - because it was absolutely vital that the episodes come out on time so the dipshit in question could continue his rewrite/fix fic. which is a. just unfathomably rude to say, especially to someone that heavily involved with the show - especially when the 'fic' in question was just a bulletpoint list of 'and then Adam says something cool. and then Blake stands there and does nothing.' or whatever, and b. fucking ghoulish and callous to say to people who are trying not to die)

keeping the headcannons would mean that we just keep the badstalker!simon series as it is and continue making lil bulletpoint parts
remastering would mean i keep the original 5 headcannons, but create a slightly different plot with the same concept so that it better fits a multi chapter fanfiction. this means the first 2 chapters may be slightly repetitive but ultimately it would become a cohesive story with more detail

previous context. the following bulletpoints arent from any cohesive universe, just consistencies here and there:
shes got multiple sclerosis and does envy novas physicality who in turn, has dyslexia and just, could not keep up with an intensive med school track. as an aside i do think necromancers being physically inept is important for au adaptation. their life force is being dried out in canon thats fucking crazy. if i see harrow nova × fit gideon thats cav4cav to me. ive never made an au where theyre both just an average level of healthy (except the concept where gh is in their 30s? does that count?). maybe i should change that
in most aus shes in medical school to replace nova. theres an underlying threat where she knows the reverend parents dropped nova for not being able to keep up with her academics and will do the same for her, so shes in college for the money cushion and also just having to behave
she has a hobby in coding since i think the principles of necromancy can be adapted to compsci in an interesting way. shes interested in game design but never does anything with it because of med school and family priorities. she has security cameras everywhere for surveillance and spies on nova for fun. nova knows about this
in one throwaway concept she worked in her parents (harrows parents, before they disowned her and adopted agnus) funeral home with nova where they basically got to dyke out
shes deeply smitten with nova you have to know its gross as hell. yeah just go ahead and insult her shell giggle. nova needs to throw herself off a cliff

hello!!! I wanted to ask if you can tell us your process when creating your stories? (Like Subject 3 and the Laurence x Reader x Gene fic)
hi anon!!! i can do that for sure!! usually, once i have a good concept and have an "end" idea in mind, i go STRAIGHT to google docs and jot all of my ideas down. if i have an idea for a line i want a character to say, or if i have a moment i want to happen in a chapter, it all gets written down into bullet points.
once i have a jumbled mess of my thoughts, i start organizing!!! i create a table, and each row is a chapter with bulletpoints that basically walk me through how the chapter will play out from start to finish. here's an example from my plans for kismet (i blocked out spoilers, hehe):

organizing and planning it out like this gives me an idea of how long the chapters will be, and it's good to reference to when i feel stuck. it can be super motivating (sometimes. sometimes, you can't fight the writer's block lol)

okay now also. yuuji's domain. i want to talk about yuuji's domain so bad. one thing i noticed was that he doesn't name it. at first i was pretty disappointed because im a weirdo and i love their weird word salad names, i love that e.g. fushiguro and mahito just bust out full poems on i guess instinct when they use their domains for the first time!! so the fact that yuuji didn't get one felt at first like he was being... slighted by the convention almost? but.
this is again a thing i think could have been cool if leaned into, in a few ways. ive just been having these ideas about how yuuji's domain is different from other domains, one of those ways being in its lack of a name.
first of all from a character perspective - yuuji's whole persona in battle is like warpath, tunnel vision, beat your ass shit, so it does kinda make sense that his domain would be just as no muss no fuss just get it the fuck done, in a way. once again. lean into this!!
but also, i started thinking about what we saw with characters like gojo and sukuna, and the idea of jujutsu as the art of elision. when those characters wanted to juice their big moves, they reverted rituals that included vocal incantations. that exact word salad shit. i started thinking - those word salad domain names are like, that, you know? maybe this is explicit and i just missed it somewhere. or i forgor. but perhaps invoking a domain's name makes it more powerful, or easier to establish, or something
(i so much dont want to reread to figure this out. RIP)
if this is the case, yuuji not using a domain name would say a darn something about his power huh???

but anyway. what IS yuuji's domain and what does it do. he learned from kusakabe, so it's at least somewhat akin to a simple domain, but we also know yuuji's body holds the memory of malevolent shrine - does that have any influence on how the domain turned out? it seems pretty... big, for lack of a better way of describing a mental projection. no other simple domain really HAD projections. are there no techniques imbued in it? what about vows, like sukuna with his whatever barrier bullshit? yuuji's forces sukuna back into the yuukuna body. why? how? we've seen how domains can make its targets abide by rules, what rule is this? sukuna also acts nonviolently for as long as yuuji strings him through illusory sendai, and i dont know if this is a choice by sukuna (which idk whether i do or do not understand as a character choice at this point) or if it's enforced by the domain somehow.
(I feel like, these things either need to be More or even Less clear. like i understand just enough to have burning questions. if this were more obtuse and symbolic, i would probably be content to ride the vibes, actually. BUT IM NOT. ANSWER ME GEGE. YOU'VE TOLD ME SO MUCH LORE I DONT CARE ABOUT!!! WHAT OF MY SON!)
anyway closing thoughts wrt 266 you may be able to tell from my Fucking Fanfiction but i have literally been waiting for yuuji's own fingers to become cursed objects for EVER. i was imagining scenarios while watching season 1. im crazy stupid about it. i hope i hope i hope this finger shakes out into something WORTHWHILE. and sorry again this is entirely yuuji centred my only thoughts about the characters who were in 264 is the frustration of the way they got sidelined so carelessly RIP

How exactly does your writing process go? Do you have a rough idea where someone does something, then you sit down and just write it from the start and wing it, or do you make an outline first, with bulletpoints for what needs to be said or done and how?
It depends on the thought honestly. If it’s just like a jokey little idea or concept then I most likely thought of the punchline of something and then need a reason to do it. There is prompt where Weiss gets back at Yang by stealing her aesthetic. That prompt exists because I wanted an excuse to bring up Weiss with blonde hair. Others have been me wanting to write a specific scene and making a scenario around it. If there’s one thing I learned after a few years it’s that it’s perfectly okay to write the exciting part first then work backwards.
As for something like my bigger AUs I do not map everything out, but I do sit down and think of key events because the foundation of those are based off of ships, so it’s pretty important to explain how and why these people got together. I personally can’t say “here is the kid of Jaune and Yang” and just hope people catch the vibe.
There are exceptions though. 90% of Snowflake’s was an after thought. What I mean by that is it only exists because the original thought was “Schnee Twins in a duo tournament fight would go crazy.” I just wanted to write specific team attacks. Summer and Nick did not have names. The entire lore of that world happened because I wanted to write two specific fights. Twin Snowflakes was supposed to be 10 chapters. But then I needed a reason for the tournament. Combat school. Okay, what school? Any rivals? How good are they in comparison? Why do they want to be huntsmen in the first place? Twin names tend to have meaning. Nicholas is a Schnee legacy name; his sister should have something on par. Summer! But why would Weiss name her kid after Ruby’s mom and-
Question after question. It was like pulling a thread and before I knew it, the two fights weren’t just about showing off cool ideas. They were used to represent the twins dynamic in life and highlight their strengths and flaws; the mindset they gained through the years from past traumatic events. If anyone reads the early chapters when they’re in the student council, you’ll notice Eliza has no real description and I don’t think I named her in the first encounter because I did not know I was going to make her important. Veronica did not exist until I decided Summer was picked on a bunch and had low self esteem. Eventually I took a legitimate step back to plan certain pivotal moments but the road to get there wasn’t set in stone until I sat down and started writing.
I’m pretty good at knowing dialogue ahead of time before the circumstances. What I do plan ahead of time and write down are ages in regard to important events. I did this for Rosebud because I learned from Snowflakes. There is a specific age range I can’t go past or else it doesn’t make sense with something I haven’t written yet. If you were to look at all the stuff I’ve written for it, Carmine is never older than 16.
Lasting Embers was my first big AU and I didn’t start off knowing why Yang wasn’t present in her daughter’s life. I just knew I wanted to write the ironic situation in which Yang also left her daughter and ended up being gone for years. Then I had the bright idea to make the other au stories I was writing at the time apart of it, which filled things out nicely.

It is an obsession and a primal need wrapped up in layers of motivation: I am grappling with a sentient mass of characters and concepts, and yet my soul will not rest until I deliver the story in its entirety.

I'll do a bulletpoint summary of Fate of Alchemists
Dragonborn are a 2-3ft species that look like a fat rabbit/ fox with membranous wings, horns and an arrowhead tail.
This takes place 500 years prior to the events of most of the other stories. It is the Zephyr era of Anemoi. The world is populated by beastial Gods and many different sophonts which they created. Pinna, God of Anemoi created the Dragonborn.
Talisum is a dragonborn born to a traditionalist family. He is one of many siblings. When he is lost on the road, the young dragonborn is not searched for as its assumed a predatory animal would have gotten him by the time they realize he is missing. As is life for the Dragonborn at the time.
Talis wandered off after a strange calling, coming upon something he doesn't quite remember. When he woke up, the little dragonborn had acquired a strange power. He could see the past of items through touch.
An older Dragonborn named Arbitrum was also following a calling... Upon seeing the little dragonborn he knew what he was compelled to do. He took Talis under his wing, raising the rambunctious little thing and teaching him the ways of the Sun Alchemist. He too was a psychometric, so he taught Talis to stifle his powers and made him gloves to keep his palms from touching objectd and being bombared by unwanted stories.
One day Arbitrum had discovered something he couldn't quite explain to Talis. He said that he had to ruminate on it alone. Talisum went out for a couple nights and when he returned he found the place charred. Arbitrum's corpse laid burnt, a gods blessed dagger laid on the floor. Talis uses his powers to discover that a God, Pinna, had shown up to slaughter Arbi. This is the first of many mysteries that Talis would later uncover.
Talis salvaged what he could. A vial of ichor, a strange sheet of what Arbi called "unshatterable glass" and what he could scavenge from the burnt up noted and books. He went to the closest town to find somewhere to rest for the night so he could collect his barring.
Talisum sees Them for the first time. A three part entity. A hydra. Three rabbits. Three women. It didn't matter, he knew what this was. A three parted entity was known as one thing to Alchemists: The Fates. Gods above Gods that rule beyond the physical realm and its land, people and concepts.
He is warned by The Fates to not continue down the same path as his mentor. He must move on and never even threaten to think of him again. Talis of course refuses despite the vague threat.
Talisum wakes up scared of his own shadow. He decides he needs to eat, and visits his favorite restaurant. Not only is the food fatty and good, exactly what a Dragonborn needs, but its run by who he believes to be the most beautiful Dragon in the world. Albus has purblind, a fatal genetic disorder and she is older then him. He of course though is head over heels still. She always takes great interest in his work and when he tells her that Arbitrum died, she consoles him and offers his meal on the house as the least she can do.
Talisum makes his way up to another Alchemist names Jhaou. He is a healer, specifically. He was not exactly friends (#divorced) with Arbi but Arb couldn't deny that the Eute was incredibly knowledgeable and they wrote several books as eachothers co-authors. Talis tells Jhaou what happened to Arbitrum in more detail
Jhaou comforts Talis as he explains what is going on with The Fates and how he is grieving his father figure. He eventually gives Talis a pendant of a golden cobra, an important but vauge symbol in alchemy. This pendant once belonged to Arbitrum and he was asked to keep it away from Talis for his protection.
Talisum stays with Jhaou for the night and has a strangely peaceful sleep... He hoes back to the hotel in the afternoon and begins drinking. Hes eventually cut off and he begins getting paranoid and obsessive over his circumstances. This drives him to attempt to use his powers on the pendant. The first few times it fails... But eventually he channels an Entity through it.
He is interrupted by the Fates who are moments away from ending Talisums existence before he drinks the vial of ichor he salvaged and channels the Cobra once more. He makes a deal with the devil of sorts. The cobra crawls inside him, taking refuge in his mortal form. Its a painful and graphic process.
Talis escapes the fates by stinging one of them with an old curse the Entity could deliver. He flies out and the Cobra forces him to fly for hours... Until coming upon a beast called a God Eater.
God Eaters are mysterious, equine like animals that hunt the divine. The Entity begins transfering its being into the GE but not before Talis bites off his tail as his magical form crawls out of his body. Talis swallows the tail, taking a bit of the Cobras power for himself.
The Fates show back up to battle the Entity in this new form. Talis can sense a magic rising. Plants begin to wither and die. Insects and birds drop from the sky. The wind stands eerily still while the Hydra Fates and the GE locked in combat.
Talis flees back towards the town, trying to race the corruption. Eventually though... He can't keep up. He drops from exhaustion
Talis wakes up and begins walking to the town. He finds many dead animals on his way. Specifically a Grigora (think a wolpertinger. Looks like a dragonborn but more rabbit like and is an animal) that reminds him of himself.
When Talis returns to the town, he is greeted by mass death. Like the animals of the surrounding wilds, Illiotherio is a graveyard. He goes to find Albus, grieving over her death. The hotel keep. Dead. Finally Jhaou. Jhaou is not dead, but close to it. He is in great pain. Talis puts him out of his misery, half out of pity and half rage for giving him the pendant.
Talis is now on his own... Hidden from The Fated, full of grief and dealing with new urges and feelings.

°Amp's mother Ashta disappeared when she was about 7 years old, ever since she's been growing up on the streets of Inkopolis alongside her best friend/little brother Sammy.

°She does not know her own full name
°She has faint memories of Off The Hook playing on the television when she was little, this inspired her dream of becoming a big time DJ. (cus there's not enough of these Octo DJ bastards running about)
°She made her way to Splatsville at age 13 looking to make it big, although having no money and no home took to crashing on the couch in the Lobby.
°Despite practically living in the Lobby, Amp does not play much Turf War or any other sport. She tends to find them limiting and aggravating, as she's not much of a team player and tends to prefer an aggressive solo charge over working with others. As a result she turns to working at Grizzco for cash.
°She is very reckless on the job, with a tendency to charge in headfirst with a seeming lack of self preservation, most coworkers dislike her for her behavior and think she's a liability. She is, however, effective, and thus Grizz keeps her on and assigns her 'mentors' to keep her focused. (At least until they burn out and she's passed to someone else)
°Mains Octobrush
°After about four months of working for Grizzco, she had a falling out with her favourite mentor and wound up meeting Craig Cuttlefish and joining the Squidbeak Splatoon
°She just wants to feel useful
°Amp has a very casual way of speaking, very rarely using honorifics. Some find this rude, but it's typically a sign that she likes someone a great deal and feels comfortable. She doesn't typically gel well with Authority figures for this reason. (Albeit this is not intentional on her end.)
°She takes to calling Cuttlefish 'Uncle' not long after meeting him.
°Also has very little in the way of a filter with profanity, and tends to cuss a lot when the urge strikes her.
°Very fidgety, tends to chew on wasabi sprouts or tug on her tentacles to keep her mind occupied. Hates sitting still.
°Has very little sense of aim, her method with a splattershot essentially comes down to 'Can't hurt me if you're atomized'
°Almost shoots Octavio after he fell out of the Octobot, Craig had to knock the gun upwards to deflect the shot.

°Neither of them are aware of this connection until post Splatoon 3's story (although there are a couple AUs where that's not the case)
°Her mother is named Ashta, she is Agent 8 and a Clone of Octavio (if you're wondering why she came out female well the answer is 🏳️‍⚧️)
°Amp's lack of knowledge of or contact with her grandfather comes from her mother's distaste for her father (to put it lightly)
°She looks up to her grandpa a lot, she definitely sees him through rose tinted glasses in her younger years. (Honestly the Takowasa family drama will probably get a reblog dedicated to breaking it down)
°She wouldn't have even been accepted by him if Craig hadn't basically reverse psychology-ed Octavio into actually being a grandpa to her
°Amp is close with Octavio but the relationship is...complicated to say the least
°Despite this she is very determined to upkeep a relationship with him
°When she eventually starts her DJing career, she does so under the stage name of DJ ANG3LFISH, a mix of her title as Agent 3, and of Octavio's occasional nickname for her, Angelfish.
°She keeps up this stage performance until one particularly traumatic performance scares her into silence for a time
°She later comes back onto the music scene in a somewhat fishing themed band called The Reel Deal, with her once again as the DJ, and her friends Mono and now much more grownup Sammy as vocalists.
°Amp would not start singing in their songs until some of their later albums.
°She has a lot of vocal fry which can be very good for their harsher tracks

What do you think about the changes to Luke’s confrontation with Percy ?
Got this ask, got really confused, realized the final episode was out, went to watch it, came back here.
So.
Mh.
As with the majority of the many changes this show made to the books, I have... mixed feelings on it.
Part of me loves this much more than the books - much - more. Because it made so much more sense. Luke, trying to recruit Percy instead of just... flat-out trying to murder him again.
And! That Percy was the one who figured it out, on his own. I love how clever this show makes Percy.
It was a really tense and interesting confrontation.
Now here's the part that made me dislike it. Because it made so much sense.
In the books, Percy not taking Luke's side made complete sense, because Luke just flat-out tries to murder him, for the second time, and he is screaming and throwing so much stuff out in such a frantic way that he does sound like he lost his mind. It's very easy to conclude "My guy, you're being brainwashed by Kronos".
But this Luke? And this Percy?
The Percy who literally spent the entire damn show MAKING Luke's points. The first half of this show, every single conversation between him and Annabeth was basically Percy reciting Luke's bulletpoint list of why the gods suck and demigods shouldn't do their bidding.
And now, what? All of the sudden, just because, what, daddy dearest showed up once and saved Percy's life from Zeus, he is Team Olympus? C'mon. That was weak as fuck.
A very brief summary of a point I've made in the past, I don't want to drag this argument out again but it's important to bring up in this context: PJO is inherently a story about keeping the status quo. It follows the very tried concept of giving the villain (Luke) a very good and valid motivation to rebel against an oppressive force, but undermining the good points he makes by adding something that nobody can argue is bad (Kronos controlling everything in the background), so the hero fights the immediate problem instead of the shared oppressors, instead of just giving the very good and valid motivation to the hero and have them fight for real change.
And in the books, at least there really wasn't much of a reason for Percy to join Luke, and Luke doesn't even really ask for it either.
But this Luke asked. This Luke very coherently expressed himself.
And this Percy has made his exact talking points in the past. And nothing, aside from Poseidon stepping up once in his fucking life, has really changed. If anything, I'd say the bad - Ares, Zeus, ATHENA - really outweigh the good.
Why is Kronos worse than Zeus? Because he ate his children? Zeus did worse things to his own children in mythology, to be quite frank. Show Percy is too clever - too knowledgeable about mythology and the past of their godly family and good at putting one and one together - and too bitter toward the gods to so fully dismiss Luke, in my opinion, especially considering we removed the "I will immediately try to murder you with a killer scorpion" and added Luke explicitly trying to recruit Percy.
And I'm not saying "Percy should have absolutely joined Luke's side", but I am saying that it felt far too much like a 180 on Percy's part to be defending the gods and pretend that Luke isn't making sense. I liked that Chiron called that out in the end, but... Percy's reply was even weaker because there was no foundation for why he would be so stubborn about this.
Even if you don't pull through with it, I think that an angle of doubt, an angle of temptation, should have been played up here.
