I was thinking about the dynamics between Danwu and Edwu happening at the same time.

Using the 100% canon compliant Danwu timeline as reference lol. None of this is actual canon. I am just thinking about the timeline of events.

The Edwu situationship goes crazy the more I think of it.

Like Eddie being Wu’s partner in crime against nature is like. Yea going off of the Danwu timeline, Daniel and Wu have known each other for a good while.

But like… does Daniel know about Wu almost dying to the Scorpios? Does Daniel even know about the whole secret hybrid thing going on? He obviously doesn’t know a good bunch since his company recruited Sammy and whoever to get insider information.

I mean it would make sense that Wu would still keep things hidden from Daniel when it comes to his work. Especially his hybrids since he’s so attached to them. He’s still competition, owning Mantahcorp and all.

But you know who was there… you know who does know. Because he’s right there. Because he’s trusted.

Nosferatu anon- I also saw it with my dad, who actually was at least semi prepared for it, still exceedingly awkward to watch with a parent lol… glad you enjoyed it! Did you see anything yourself that reminded you of your own work?

Oh yeah I definitely wish I'd had the foresight to go alone XD. I really enjoyed the section in orlok's castle where Thomas was under some sort of compulsion! That was the exact vibe I was going for with Janet's compulsion, especially the parts where he forced Thomas to do stuff

I know it wasn't the point of the movie, but I do wish some more time had been spent on the chase scene where orlok hunts Thomas around the castle, it was super suspenseful and scary and really showed off how utterly terrifying orlok was (when he made Thomas open the door for him and the wolves!! So cool!)

I didn't have any experience with Nosferatu or the previous iterations (or even dracula, lol) going into the movie so I was kind of expecting a final girl movie, or a twist where Ellen would turn evil on all of them. When she talked to that professor guy I did think he was gonna have her try to kill the demon that had been haunting her, not submit to him, despite the narrative very clearly indicating that's what would happen. I guess I was just hopeful for a happy ending. I think it's a movie I'm going to have to rewatch to appreciate fully because a lot of parts (the scene where Ellen (?) and Thomas have sex (?)) kind of went over my head in regards to the message I was meant to get from them. I got really excited when the plague ship came to the city and the mass chaos scene in the hospital while the competent doctors and nurses do their best to work around all of it is kind of the vibe I'm going for in Deimos. Will definitely be on my mind as I finish the fic. I spent a lot of the movie thinking about Anna and Friedrich, who both seem to love Thomas and Ellen, but by taking them in and sheltering them they ruined their own lives, and I thought that was kind of sad.

I can definitely see where you picked up on parallels between vrykolakas and Nosferatu. The castle scenes spring to mind immediately, but there are also visual similarities, the constant darkness and gore. The way Ellen seems to bear a twisted sort of affection or attachment to orlok, even though he's killing her, kind of parallels Tim's attachment to his parents. It's flattering to me to be compared to a classic like Nosferatu, thank you for the ask friend :)

Boy do I know about theater. I'm techinically getting a degree in theater (the actual name of my course is 'scenic development' but we learn about both theater and some of filmmaking. My course is also techonological which means it's more practical and it's shorter) this semester and I have been participating in Drama Club theater productions since 2016 (it's very amateaur-ish but it did help me a lot and it led me to knowing my current singing teacher)

But, if the post Sky tagged me is anything to go by, I heard you want some recs.

I really love the theban trilogy by Sophocles, which is composed of three plays: Oedipus Rex, Oedipus in Colono and Antigone. Also, I really recommend Jean Anouilh's version of Antigone, it explores more the themes of family and duty.

The Mandrake by Machiavelli is a comedy but with a tone of social critique that I found really enjoyable.

I'll say that I am a bit lacking in Shakespeare but A Midsummer's Night Dream can be a really fun read if you want something more light hearted!

I need to read more of his plays but if you are looking for something with a heavier social political undertone, I recommend Bertold Brecht's plays, like The Good Soul in Setsuan, Mother Courage and Her Children, etc. (note: even thought I haven't read a lot of his work, I really like his Epic Theater and agree with a lot of stuff that that brings, like making stuff so that the audience never reaches catharsis and makes them think)

I haven't really read this play BUT the students whose classes I accompany in my internship are staging Endgame by Samuel Beckett, and honestly, by each rehersal, more intrigued I get.

I'll be honest, there's a lot of plays that I've yet to read but I can also give you some musical theater recs, as I also love that.

Falsettos (the 2016 revival) is funny yet heartbreaking, with a story about love, family and living in the HIV/AIDS crisis (and also judaism). The songs are great, many have very uplifiting vibes but the sad ones hit HARD.

Into the Woods and Sweeney Todd (I recommend watching the OG stage versions, i think a recording of each can be easily found on youtube) are Sondheim classics and you just can't go wrong with Sondheim

Next to Normal is a musical that handles mental health and grief, with many touching moments, and the ends always leaves me as a mess.

Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 is a musical pop rock opera adaptation of a portion of War and Peace and honestly, the music is just PHENOMENAL. Banger after banger.

I know everyone and their mother has talked about Hamilton, and despite it's problems, I still think the music itself is really good.

Book of Mormon and Avenue Q are really funny, acid comedies, with some really great numbers, that will make you laugh and might even make you reflect on life.

Waitress is another fave of mine, I love many of the songs and they just have this sweetness and heartfeltness to it that I just aaaaaaaaa

I've spent the last two days writing out a timeline from 115 BCE-42BCE and marking down events and then going back in a second time and marking down where each comic I've outlined already goes chronologically, altho I have gotten sidetracked by whatever the fuck is going on with Dolabella

The original plot of the Planet of the Apes novel is basically this. A couple finds a manuscript about a human who wandered into a planet where apes were the intelligent ones, but the book ends with the reveal that the couple are actully chimps who throw the manuscript away bc they find it too unbelievable that humans could ever be intelligent

I know I’m being an insufferable worldbuilding nerd here, but my basic metric for evaluating media with very inhuman protagonists is “how easily can one offer a complete and coherent account of this media’s plot without ever mentioning the fact that the protagonist is, for example, a talking car?”. The harder it is, the higher it scores.
