Somewhat related to that Canadian bands poll here's a playlist of some of my favorite Canadian artists some of whom are absolutely famous in the states and some of whom I have literally never heard anyone talk about.
And yes I started it with The Arrogant Worms what do you take me for.
Honourable mention to Loreena Mckennitt; The Mummers Dance is a core memory but is completely incompatible with 99% of my taste in music

MONSTROUS REGIMENT. // And the new day was a great big fish. [[ Listen on Spotify ]]
Program notes--and spoilers for Monstrous Regiment by Terry Pratchett--below the cut.
1.Children's Work // Dessa
When the wagon tipped, I prayed over your body I asked God to take the damage out on me Ten years later, he finally gets the memo Sent it to accounting and knocked out my front teeth
'She hadn't set out to be an ornithologist. But birds brought Paul alive. All the...slowness in the rest of his thinking became a flash of lightning in the presence of birds. Suddenly he knew their names, habits, and habitats, could whistle their songs, and, after Polly had saved up for a box of paints off a traveler at the inn, had painted a picture of a wren so real you could hear it.'
OR
'...well, yes. She'd heard the song, too. So what? Paul was her brother. She'd always kept an eye on him, even when she was small. Mother was always busy, everyone was always busy at The Duchess, so Polly had become a big sister to a brother fifteen months older than she. She'd taught him to blow his nose, taught him how to form letters, went and found him when crueler boys had got him lost in the woods. Running after Paul was a duty that had become a habit.'
2. Barnacled Warship // Johnny Flynn
Well, I left home three days ago I feel like going to bed Open the courts and a new religion Burning through my head
' "All the good bits in this country are in this tent," said the voice of Wazzer.
'Embarrassed silence descended.'
OR
'Jackrum softened his voice a little when he saw their expressions. "Lads, this is war, understand? He was a soldier, they were soldiers, you are soldiers... more or less. [...] Bury 'em decent and say what prayers you can remember, and hope they've gone back where there's no fighting." '
3. The Railroad // Goodnight, Texas
Run, run, run with the railroad Get out of their sight When the engine turns and you've got to move on Then you've got to move on at night
' "I expect you were glad to leave," was all Polly could say.
' "The basement window was unlocked," said Tonker. '
OR
' "D'you know why we joined up?" said Tonker, red in the face. "To get away! Anything was better than what we had! I've got Lofty and Lofty's got me, and we're sticking with you because there's nothing else for us! [...]"
"Then go!" shouted Polly. "Desert! We won't stop you, because I'm sick of your... your bullshit! But you make up your mind right now, right now, understand?" '
4. Dig Gravedigger Dig // Corb Lund
I asked about ghosts and spirits I asked him if he ever got spooked I asked him if he ever got haunted by souls, But he reckons that he buries them, too.
'The charcoal-burner and his wife were buried to the accompaniment of, to Polly's lack of surprise, a small prayer from Wazzer. [...]
'Wazzer prayed for everyone. Wazzer prayed like a child, eyes screwed up and hands clenched until they were white. The reedy little voice trembled with such belief that Polly felt embarrassed, and then ashamed, and, finally, after the ringing "amen", amazed that the world appeared no different than before. For a minute or two, it had been a better place...'
5. You're Dead // Norma Tanega
Don't ever talk with your eyes Be sure that you compromise You're dead, you're dead, you're dead You're dead and out of this world
' "Why do you smoke? It's not very... vampire, really."
' "Well, I'm not supposed to be very vampire," said Maladict, lighting up with a shaking hand. "It's the sucking. I need it. I'm on edge. I'm getting the no-coffee jitters. [...]"
' "We've got plenty of tea--" Polly began.
' "You don't understand! This is about... craving. You never stop craving, you just switch it to something that doesn't cause people to turn you into a short kebab!" '
6. We Stand Alone // PigPen Theatre Co.
We stand alone with the bones of our father's breath Retching our souls with the stories of life and death Come pass away on the sinews of our strings But watch your weary eyes and protect thy dreams
'No one spoke at all. The thing was... the thing was, Polly realized, that they were no longer marching alone. They shared the Secret.'
OR
'... Er, your sleeping friend... will you leave her here?"
' "No," said the squad, as one woman. [...]
' "We stick together," said Polly. "We don't leave a man behind." '
7. Bigmouth Strikes Again // The Smiths
And now I know how Joan of Arc felt Now I know how Joan of Arc felt As the flames rose to her Roman nose And her hearing aids started to melt
'She didn't know much about what went on in [the School], but imagination rushed to fill the gap. And she wondered what happened to you in that hellish pressure cooker. [...] If you were Wazzer, dealt a poor hand to start with, and locked up, and starved, and beaten, and mistreated Nuggan-knew-how (and yes, Polly thought, Nuggan probably did know how), and pushed deeper and deeper into yourself, what would you find down there? And then you'd look up from those depths into the only smile you ever saw.'
8. Buzzard Song // Ella Fitzgerald
There's two folks livin' in this shelter Eatin', sleepin', singin', prayin', Ain't no such thing as loneliness And we are young again.
'Polly stared out at the bright, unchanging landscape, empty except for a buzzard making wide circles in the forbidden blue.
' "I'm not sure about that," she said. "But someone up there likes us." '
Additional Context: Buzzard Song is a piece of incidental recitative from the American folk opera Porgy and Bess. The native buzzards of Charleston are seen as an omen of misfortune and death by the residents of the fictional Catfish Row; when one circles at the midpoint of the opera, it is chased off by the triumphant Porgy, who believes he has finally found happiness.
Like many other pieces of music from Porgy and Bess, Buzzard Song came to separate acclaim following its orchestration by Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong. However, unlike other pieces from the opera, such as Summertime or I Got Plenty O' Nuttin', Buzzard Song never entered the jazz standard repertoire, due to this additional dependence on the text.
9. One Foot in Front of the Other // Emilie Autumn
I've been in chains since I was nothing but a kid We don't know freedom, not quite sure that we ever did Now that we have it, how will we make use of it? We've been committed, now to what do we all commit?
' "I don't want to end up in the School, though," said Betty aka Shufti. "They took away a girl from our village and she was kicking and screaming--"
' "Then fight them!" said Polly. "You've got a sword now, haven't you? Fight back!" '
OR
'Polly remembered what she'd said, hours ago, about fighting. You had to start somewhere.
' "I want to try the Keep again," she said. [...] I'm going to try it, Sarge!"
' "You are not!"
' "Try and stop me!" The words came out before she could stop them. And that's it, she thought, the shout heard round the world. No going back after this. I've run off the cliff and it's all downhill from here.'
10. The Trapper and the Furrier // Regina Spektor
What a strange, strange world we live in Where the good are damned, and the wicked forgiven What a strange, strange world we live in Those who don't have lose, those who got get given- More, more, more, more
'It was a terrible thing. Her mother had been a kind woman, or as kind as a devout woman could be while trying to keep up with the whims of Nuggan, and she'd died slowly and painfully, amid pictures of the Duchess and among the echoes of unanswered prayers...'
OR
' "Ever run across someone called Father Jupe?"
' "Oh, yes," said Polly, and, feeling that something more was expected of her, added, "He used to come to dinner when my mother--he used to come to dinner. A bit pompous, but he seemed okay."
' "Yes," said Tonker. "He was good at seeming."
'Once again there was a dark chasm in the conversation that not even a troll could bridge, and all you could do was draw back from the edge.'
OR
' "I feel sorry for the Borogravians," he said.
' "Me too, sir," said Angua. [...] "Their religion's gone bad on them. Three years ago it was abominable to grow root crops on ground which had grown grain or peas! [...] It means no real crop rotation, sir. The ground sours. Diseases build up. You were right when you said they were going mad. [...] I've had a look around. They're very religious here, but their god's let them down. No wonder they mostly pray to their royal family." '
11. Genesis 30:3 // The Mountain Goats
For several hours we lay there, last ones of our kind Harder days coming, maybe; I don't mind. ... I will do what you ask me to do Because of how I feel about you.
' "... Shall I tell you that Tilda was pregnant when they brought her back to the Gray House after the fire? She had it, and they took it away, and we don't know what happened to it. And then she got beaten again because she was an Abomination Unto Nuggan. Does that make you feel better?" said Tonker, tying the rope to a table leg. "There's just us, Polly. Just her and me. No inheritance, no nice home to go back to, no relatives that we know of. The Gray House breaks us all, somehow."
Additional Context: The Life of the World to Come is the 12th studio album of The Mountain Goats, and consists of twelve poems, each meditating on a single verse of the Jewish Tanakh or the Christian New Testament.
The text of Genesis 30:3 is as follows: 'And she said, Behold my maid Bilhah, go in unto her; and she shall bear upon my knees, that I may also have children by her.'
About the text, John Darnielle has said "...that story is the most beautiful love story I've ever heard in my life. [...] All the relationships in the Bible prior to that are working relationships, but there's people and love in this story." [Source]
12. The Goddess and the Weaver // Spiral Dance
Arachnia weaves, and she weaves so well She weaves a passage where the Gods will fly Athena laughs as she casts her spell While she watches from her loom on high
' "You must invade Borogravia! In the name of sanity, you must go home! [...] Fight Nuggan, because he is nothing now, nothing but the poisonous echo of all your ignorance and pettiness and malicious stupidity! Find yourself a worthier god. And let...me...go! [...]"
'As one woman, as one man, the crowd in the room reached up hesitantly to their left cheek. And Wazzer folded up, very gently, collapsing like a sigh.'
13. Jackaroe // Joan Baez
"I know my waist is slender, my fingers are neat and small But it would not make me tremble to see ten thousand fall" ... The war soon being over, they hunted all around And among the dead and dying, her darling boy she found.
' "Oh, we had great times, great times," said Jackrum, stopping for a moment to stare at nothing. "He never got promoted on account of his stutter, but I had a good shouty voice, and officers like that. But Willie never minded, not even when I made it to sergeant. And then he got killed at Sepple, right next to me."
' "I'm sorry."
' "You don't have to be, you didn't kill him," said Jackrum evenly. "But I stepped over his body and skewered the bugger that did. Wasn't his fault. Wasn't my fault. We were soldiers." '
14. The World Turned Upside Down // Chumbawamba
I dreamt all men were equal And there were no starving poor And nations never did quarrel Nor never went to war
'Kissing don't last. Oh, the Duchess had come alive before them and turned the world upside down for a spell and maybe they had all decided to be better people, and out of certain oblivion had come a space to breathe.
'And then...had it really happened? Even Polly sometimes wondered, and she had been there. Was it just a voice in their heads, some kind of hallucination? Weren't soldiers in desperate straits famous for seeing visions of gods and angels? [...]
'All we were given was a chance, thought Polly. No miracle, no rescue, no magic. Just a chance.'
15. The Times They Are A-Changin' // Bob Dylan
The line it is drawn, the curse it is cast The slowest now will later be fast As the present now will later be past The order is rapidly fadin' And the first one now will later be last 'Cause the times, they are a-changin'
'At which point, Polly decided that she knew enough of the truth to be going on with. The enemy wasn't men, or women, or the old, or even the dead. It was just bleedin' stupid people, who came in all varieties. And no one had the right to be stupid. [...]
'And the new day was a great big fish.'

Another lovely year in this wonderful fandom. Here’s a little recap of how my year went:
My Writing:
Depth of Reason - Mature - 70k
How to Avoid a Scandal - Teen - 43k
Episode 3: The Diplomat, A Star Trek Redemption story - Teen - 13.5k
This list is much shorter than my list of fics written in 2022, but my fics last year were much shorter. Also, this word count is deceptive, because I wrote about 22k of Depth of Reason last year and about 20k of How to Avoid a Scandal last year as well. But! My writing goals this year were to finish these two WIPs and not take on any other projects until they were finished and I very nearly did that! Took on two projects (and more below), but I still finished these before the year finished, so pretty good!
Total words:
About 83k. Last year was more like 120k.
Other works:
Podfic of Petrichor - Teen - 34 minutes
Themes:
Finishing long works apparently! One was for my 2022 COBB and the other for my 2022 CORB. Even though these were started last year, they are the longest things I wrote since my first fic (49k) back in the second half of 2021.
Also, trying new things! Writing sci-if and recording a podfic felt very outside my wheelhouse at the time, but ultimately, I’m glad I went for it.
Top 10 fics I read in 2023:
Someone Wicked - Explicit - 60k by @artsyunderstudy
Three Months or 3,000 Miles - Gen - 3k by @larkral and art by @theimpossibledemon
Blood, Salt and Hummingbirds - Teen - 32k by @hushed-chorus
Restoration Ecology - The REmix (Baz’s version) - Explicit - 62k by @royalasstronaut
Good at Something - Explicit - 19k by @larkral
A Gift From the Propheseals - Mature - 6.5k by @skeedelvee with art by @letraspal
What Remains After the Storm - Mature - 86k by @hushed-chorus art by @erzbethluna
To Do, to Know, to Want - Mature - 8.5k by @facewithoutheart
Mishaps on Zoom - Explicit - 10k by @eelwinks
Swords Into Plowshares - Teen - 6.5k by @ileadacharmedlife
WIPs I’m excited to keep reading in 2024:
I Knew A Boy, I Knew A Man - Teen, by @shrekgogurt
Hiding Out In The Open - Mature, by @cutestkilla
A Little Bit Deadly- Explicit, by @emeryhall
Basil Pitch’s Diary - Teen, by @bookish-bogwitch
Other notable fandom things:
I helped to run @carryon-reverse-bang again with @angelsfalling16 as well as helped to put on a new event this year, @caught-on-tape-fest with @cutestkilla and @sillyunicorn
I met up with fandom friends while on a trip this past summer. Making personalized friendship bracelets as gifts, doing fic readings and crafts, and putting on our own Lady Ruth style tea party were some of my fave moments <3
I did a book club style reread of some of my fave fics with friends. I hope we do a few more in 2024!
It’s safe to say I engaged with this fandom everyday of 2023. I might get quiet on the main Discord server or Tumblr, but I’m certain I read, reblogged, wrote, DMd or otherwise participated in some way, shape or form throughout the entirety of the year.
Goals for 2024:
Read more fic! This fandom has such a wealth of works, my TBR list is a mile long and isn’t organized. I’d like to formally rework my AO3 bookmarks to exclusively show recs and either utilize the Marked for Later function or make a spreadsheet or something to better organize a proper TBR list so i don’t lose track of what I want to read next. Currently, having a dozen tabs open on my phone and another dozen on my iPad doesn’t really work well. If anyone has a brilliant system you’d suggest, please enlighten me!
I also want to read all of my physical canon books this year. I’ve only ever listened to the audiobooks! I’m currently reading my anniversary edition of Fangirl. (I think this is the prettiest book I’ve ever owned.) Up next, the Fangirl Manga, followed by the trilogy and Snow for Christmas.
More fandom meet ups! Already planning for June…
I don’t have any writing plans currently, so we shall see if/what I decide to create. I have a few ideas rolling around in my head, but nothing I’ve felt urged to put down in words. I’m sure I’ll write something, I just don’t know what it’ll be yet.

Hiya! I’m here for a DC matchup :))) I love your layout btw, the color palette is so cute!
Name: Corben/Caspian (nicknames: corb/cas)
Age: 18
Hobbies: reading, making bracelets, listening to music, talking about my hyperfixations, painting/coloring
Likes: Chocolate, the color green, vinyls, crime shows, ice cream, Halloween, pie (of any kind), French fries, Dr. Pepper, rainy days, smell of old books
Dislikes: spiders, flying, wet socks, public speaking, large crowds/being around a lot of unfamiliar people, hot weather
I match you with...
Tumblr media
JASON TODD!
Seeing as you both are in college, you two would go down to the library after classes and get caught up on homework together before stopping by Bat Burger for dinner
You both love reading, so expect random books to be found around the house with (a tiny bit of) blood on them
They were robbing a bookstore, what else was he supposed to do?
He loves the bracelets you make them, but doesn't wear them, using the excuse that 'they could get ruined on the job'. They're tucked into his kevlar or anything bulletproof so they don't get hurt
He's one of those people where he doesn't necessarily like to talk a lot, so you talking about your hyper fixations would fill that silence with something he loves: Your voice
100% would take notes on the movies/books/streams. You love it, so he needs to love it too
Y'know those tiktoks where the people paint on the book covers/closed pages ? He would ask you to do that to his favorite books, supplying (stealing) anything you needed
He also loves rainy days + vinyls
I'm imagining one of those movie scenes with some 1900 music playing as you two dance in the kitchen while it rains outside

Hello all! I've been tagged on so many lovely things the last couple of weeks and, while I've been writing, it's just been one step to far to post with everything else I've got to do. But I've got time today, hooray! So first to thank all the lovely folk who keep tagging me even when I disappear:
@ivelovedhimthroughworse, @katmiscellanious, @prettygoododds, @messofthejess, @j-nipper-95, @rimeswithpurple, @aroace-genderfluid-sheep, @you-remind-me-of-the-babe, @wellbelesbian, @alleycat0306, @hushed-chorus, @ionlydrinkhotwater, @whatevertheweather, @ileadacharmedlife, @confused-bi-queer, @cutestkilla, @nightimedreamersghost, and @shrekgogurt.
On to the sentences!
From Westward Son:
“Mistress Penny!” he shouts. “My little brother is coming, and my mother wants your help!”
We all straighten. We’d thought Chapa was heavily pregnant months ago, but she’s only gotten more immense since. She’s had to ride in the wagon for the last two months, once her bulk meant she couldn’t keep up with the slow pace of the wagon train. Penny is certain that she’s carrying twins, given the size of her.
From my Age of Sail AU:
When I emerge onto the beach, blinking rapidly against the sunlight, the tide has gone out, and the rock spur our ship is hung up on is surrounded by prolly only a foot or so of water.
“Ah, there you are, Simon lad,” Davy appears at my elbow, and I turn obediently to listen. “The tide’s low enough,” he tells me. “We’ll take the raft out an’ you and the Pitch boy can climb around the ship like the monkeys you are and retrieve anythin’ that’s of use.”
“Aye, sir,” I tell him. I’m bone tired, but we’ll need those barrels and boxes of goods on the ship if we’re to survive here.
From this year's COTTA: Snow Fox
Penny’s horse was done in from her wild ride to Snow Island, so she’s mounted up behind me, clinging to my waist, and Shepard is riding behind my second in command. Which would be fine were she not using her position to hiss angry rebukes in my ear.
Finally, I’ve had enough. “Fine, I get it, Pen. I’m an arsehole! What can I do about it now?”
“Now?” she shouts back. “Now you can save my brother. Later? You’re going to train me, and Shepard, so that we can defend our family and make sure this never happens again!”
From To Heal A Broken Mind (final chapter!):
His head is tilted down, his hair loose and falling into his face. He tends to do that when he feels vulnerable, I’ve noticed. Like his hair is a mask that will protect him from a harsh world. It’s odd..I never used to think of Baz as someone who’d ever need or want protection. But I know better now, and I’m glad for it. Glad that he lets me see this side of himself.
And From Saving Simon Snow
“Now grab Baz’s hand, Simon, and think about what I told you to,” she directs. Simon does. I do my best to clear my mind, though when Simon closes his eyes and concentrates, I can’t help but think about how erotic he looks, with his closed eyes turned towards the roof of the car, his lower lip sucked into his mouth, his forehead tense with concentration. Crowley, he looks like he’s in the midst of an orgasm!
And that’s when I feel a surge of excitement, mixed with joy and incredulity. The feelings aren’t completely at odds with my own, but I still report them dutifully to Bunce.
Yes, only five WIPs! Except actually there's a secret project going on that I can't share yet...and CORB choosing starts soon...so, yeah.
Tag Backsies to everyone above for Wednesday, along with these folks:
@artsyunderstudy, @angelsfalling16, @bazzybelle, @bookish-bogwitch, @carryonsimoncarryonbaz, @dragoneggos, @erzbethluna, @fatalfangirl, @facewithoutheart, @ic3-que3n, @krisrix, @larkral, @letraspal, @moodandmist, @frjsti, @raenestee, @thehoneyedhufflepuff, @theearlgreymage, @tea-brigade, @upuntil6am, @yellobb-old.

🎶✨when u get this, list 5 songs u like to listen to, then send this ask to 10 of your favourite followers (no pressure ofc)🎶✨
It's so hard to pick, I have so many. I'll try to diversify it, in no particular order.
St. John the Gambler - Townes Van Zandt (literally anything by Van Zandt is amazing, but this one's my favourite)
Student Visas - Corb Lund (love History songs, this one is about the CIA's involvement in Nicaragua during the Iran-Contra affair)
Drag Me - Tiny Little Houses (This one is a *sad* banger, you play this when you're *sad*)
Do You Think About Me - Deuce (This one is just straight fire)
Fade and Decay - Winter Lantern (Never liked vocaloid, never liked breakcore, but this artist somehow makes them both work, I love this one)

Mile High Club (Baron Corbin x Fem. Reader x MJF) (🔞+)
Summary: Max and Corbs like to share everything; including their girlfriend.
Tags/TW(s): 18+, threesome, sex in a private jet, name-calling, biting, fingering, daddy kink, consensual, exhibitionism, polyam relationship, light humiliation, Dom/sub Play.)
Word Count: 794
Today was a good day.
My boyfriends, Max and Baron, and I were taking a couple of days off from our respective jobs and now we were off to some island for some much-needed rest.
But first…
I smirked to myself as I washed my hands thoroughly, wondering which one of my men would come to seek me out in the bathroom of our private jet.
The bathroom was pretty fuckin’ spacious.
Whenever we traveled, we made sure to travel comfortably and I was grateful for it, especially if we wanted to get reacquainted after so long of not seeing each other.
My smirk grew wider, and the door slowly creaked open and two firm hands gripped my hands.
Fingers immediately reached underneath my beachy sundress and slipped underneath it to stroke my dampening pussy without giving me a breather.
And I immediately knew it was Max.
He had about as much patience as I did.
I moaned loudly, my body immediately responding to Max’s touch, and I gripped his arm, urging him to go lower.
I let out what sounded like a mewl to my ears when he gave me what I wanted and his fingers filled me up, stroking that sweet spot that had my back arching, taut like a harp’s strings.
“Fuck, don’t stop, Max…” I moaned, letting my eyes flutter shut as he lightly grabbed my throat, pulling my head back until it rested against his chest as his fingers continued to work me.
By now the staff on the plane knew what we were up to but we didn’t give a shit.
“Don’t stop? Oh, but Daddy’s got something so much better for you, sweetface…” Max whispered in my ear and my head became fuzzy at the devilish I could almost hear.
The second he slid into me from behind felt like out of body experience.
Something that someone else entirely was experiencing yet I still felt every single sensation.
Every stroke of Max’s cock.
The way that his fingers flexed over the fleshiest parts of my hips.
The gruff sounds he made through his clenched teeth.
The sharp bite of his teeth on my shoulder before he hissed as my muscles clenched around him, milking him dry until we were both dizzy with the aftershocks of our orgasms.
I took the time to use the bathroom and get myself back together just so Baron could break me again and I listened to them crassly speaking about what just happened between me and Max.
A sick thrill coursed through my body at their words.
They spoke as if I couldn’t hear them from inside the bathroom.
Gone were panties by now and the insides of my thighs grew sticky with my arousal once again in anticipation of being taken again, this time by Baron.
I didn’t have to wait too long before Baron let himself into the bathroom and through the mirror in front of me, I could see an amused smirk lighting up his face as he took in my slightly disheveled appearance and the lewd sight of my sundress pulled up to expose the bottom half of my body, ready for the taking.
“Look at you, you little whore.” Baron chuckled. “You’re always ready for your Daddies to use you, uh?” He said as his hands trailed over the back of my bare thighs and his fingers trailed dangerously close to my pussy lips but not quite stroking there.
My hips tilted to the side, urging his hand to do what I wanted.
What I needed.
And for a few seconds he entertained me, and he stroked my pussy, watching me release a trembling breath.
He brought me closer and closer to the edge before he pinched my clit, bringing me right back down and making squeal.
Baron enjoyed toying with me, even as desperate as he was to be inside of me, and I couldn’t tell if I loved it or if I hated it.
“Yes,” I moaned at the sting on my clit as I gripped the bathroom’s spacious countertop.
Before I could beg him to do something- anything- Baron got down on his knees and the jarring sensation of his mouth feasting on my pussy made my knees buckle.
All I could do was lay there against the counter, my cheek pressed into the mirror as Baron held my body by the waist, his mouth and tongue relentless with their sweet torture.
Before I could find my release, it was Baron’s turn to sink into me.
We both sighed in relief when he buried himself balls deep and pretty soon the sounds of our moans and the slapping sounds of the sweaty skin of my thighs ricocheting off his hips echoed off the walls…

Thanks to @chen-chen-chen-again-chen for the tag & to everyone who keeps tagging me even though I haven’t been in a place to share anything.
Basically I’ve reached a point in all of my WIPs where they’ve turned into longfics and thus I hate them. So instead this week I picked at my sequel to what will be ours which is mostly a response to @captain-aralias’s comment on the fic which got me thinking about a world where Agatha is Normal pregnant and maybe a little angry about spell-pregnancy benefits.
And no it’s not six sentences but it does have the word six in it! That counts.
After the tag for mpreg references.
“Just five more months.”
“Six,” she corrects me.
“Oh.”
One eye peeks open. “Wait.”
I grin, sheepish.
“Does the spell make pregnancy shorter?”
My mouth drops open as I debate whether I should nod or lie… my hesitation answers for me.
“Argh!” Agatha cries. “Okay. I’m getting myself a cookie. I’ve earned it.”
Will I ever finish this? Probably not! I’ve decided not to care.
Bonus clip from the next chapter of my CORB, “On Love’s Light Wings,” which maybe I’ll post today!
“So really all you need to do is keep an ear on Simon’s breathing and press the button if he, you know, chokes in his sleep or whatever.” Agatha shoots me a knowing glance. “I trust you can handle that.”
I did always listen to his breathing back at Watford. Well, I listened to the other Simon’s breathing.
I turn towards Simon. He’s picking off excess polish and looking troubled. “I don’t want to be a burden.”
“You could never be a burden to me, Simon.”

Who the hell am I and wtf is this blog for?
Hellu there, you can call me whatever the hell ya want, but for the most part I go by Masked, Quip or Ree.
I'm a dusty, skull-mask-wearing Cali resident who's been closet-hyper fixating on random crap for most of my life, so I decided to finally post my art, my interests and ocs since none of my irl friends are gonna sit down and listen to me ramble about the lore of my characters (I honestly don't blame them cuz I yap a lot if you couldn't tell).
Hopefully this way I can connect with more people like me out there who share my interests and wanna hear about the traumatized gay mercenaries my brain has cooked up.
I put a lot of my various interests in my banner, but I'm mainly a fan of TWD, TF2, and CoD.
I'm an artist, but I'll mostly be reposting crap I like and yapping about what's on my mind.
My Tags: #SoloMMM - Crap relating to the world of my main oc and her storyline, #Shower thoughts with Quip - Me ramblin abt whatever's on my mind (usually stupid crap), #Corb - posts abt my cat. More to be added.
This will be edited later when I feel like it but I think those are the basics for now. G'day to you all....or G'night.....idk whatever time it is for you rn, I hope life doesn't suck <3

Thank you @you-remind-me-of-the-babe and @aristocratic-otter for the tags!
Not to say this every time I do a tag game, but I’m super late to this party. In fact so late that I wasn’t going to do it, but then I kept thinking about it, so hi everyone, here’s a throwback to when all of you did this a million years ago.
Rules: list your top 10 most kudos’d fics on AO3, followed by your own personal top 10.
AO3 Top 10:
1. Bite Me (M; 27.6k)
2. A Restless Mind (T; 21k)
3. Keep It Down (E; 5k; co-written with @fatalfangirl)
4. The Space In Between (M; 101k)
5. Caprine Attire (T; 18.4k)
6. For The Turtles (T; 17.9k)
7. Just A Prank (T; 5k)
8. The Definition of Platonic (T; 5.7k)
9. Archery 101 (M; 13k; co-written with @you-remind-me-of-the-babe)
10. Raining Cats and Dogs (Without the Cats) - (T; 4.9k)
My my. This is all going to get rather rearranged.
My Top 10:
1. The Space In Between: Surprising absolutely no one, TSIB is still my number one favorite thing I’ve written, and it will always be terribly dear to me. I cannot overstate the impact it had on my writing and my...overall joy. I’ve made an edited and formatted version to put on my Kindle and I reread it more than I should.
2. Bite Me: Okay we can all agree on this one apparently. There are several fics I’m struggling to pick between for spots 2 through 4, but this one earns this place for the amount of fun I had writing it. And posting it. The enthusiasm it received was wonderful and it made me feel wonderful.
3. Brazen (M; 10.9k): My least popular fic! I love it so. I also understand that it’s not for everyone, and that’s valid. I have in fact had a couple moments myself of, “Wow I. I really did write that huh.” But listen, over the past few months I have consumed no less than four separate pieces of (fairly popular) fiction that have all equally inspired me to say, “Yeah that’s fucked up. Brazen really ain’t shit huh.” So. Anyway, it’s so much fun to write them being feral, an excellent pastime, can’t recommend it enough. That’s why I’m writing more of it.
4. The Smokescreen (T; 18k): Surprising absolutely everyone, myself most of all, I’m actually putting my third least popular fic in fourth place! The surprise there is that not so long ago, this was number one for my least favorite of my fics. Now, to be fair to the fic (and Selkie, who did the wonderful art and gave the prompt for CORB), my problem with it was very much me and the state of my brain when I was working on it. Point being that by the time I posted, I was so sick of writing it that I never wanted to read it again. But many months passed, and I thought, “Fine, I’ll give it a try,” and I actually didn’t hate it. In fact I liked it. In fact I’m a little proud of it. In fact I think of it semi-regularly in a fond way. (It also gets bonus points for the tag “Antagonistic Flirting,” because that is Baz at his best.)
5. A Restless Mind: This one still makes me feel soft and warm because it’s soft and warm and also the first fic I ever wrote. I have a very vivid memory of pulling my laptop out one night, opening a blank document, typing “I,” and then saying “nope, nope, can’t do it” and closing everything. Several months after that, I was still thinking about it and decided I could do it if I went with third person. And I did. And now my Ao3 word count is 280,836. Whoops.
6. For The Turtles: This one makes me soft and fuzzy in a similar but slightly different way, because it’s silly and fun and it was the first fic I ever posted. Which also means it’s the first time I ever experienced the straight shot of endorphins that comes with reading a beta’s comments of laughter and positivity in a document I was super nervous about sharing. So thank you again, Jess.
7. Caprine Attire: Again with the nostalgic and happy elements of the two fics above this. This is a sequel to For The Turtles that was never meant to exist, but it insisted on existing before I even decided to post FTF. I had a lot of fun with it, it still makes me laugh, and I remember very clearly the moment I wrote “Simon (1:12 pm): is it tyrannus basilton grimm pitch the fifth? or tyrannus the fifth basilton grimm pitch?? tyrannus five: the empire strikes backilton grimm pitch???”, cackling, and then saying, “Oh fuck, I have to post the first one now.”
8: Just A Prank: Another I had good fun with. I wrote it in a night, so it’s bite-sized and full of pranks and uni boys being stupid and also kissing. Just a good time.
9. The Definition of Platonic: Sweet, fluff, domesticity, friends-to-lovers, it’s cozy and feel-good. I depleted my stores of cutesy romantic feelings for this, but they’re refilled now, so all is well and I can reread it without huffing.
10. Raining Cats and Dogs (Without the Cats): Again, I just had a lot of fun writing this, and it’s nice and sweet and carries a lot of fond memories for me of my dog and rain and all that good stuff. Also I will always stan liar!Simon.
Please note that the exclusion of co-written fics is not a reflection of my affection for them, but is rather, of course, for the fact that I didn’t write them alone <3
I’m pretty sure literally everyone has done this by now, but I don’t know who for sure so I’m tossing out some tags for @artsyunderstudy @martsonmars @bookish-bogwitch @urban-sith anyway and seeing what bites.
