The Author of Exiles Rereads All Of Exiles Published So Far
That's right, I did it. In preparation for Book 4, I started rereading something I started writing...like...ten years ago or something. And you know what? It's pretty good! Turns out I like my stuff!
Behind the cut are a lot of rambling thoughts on each book, along with anything I might have done differently. Mild spoilers, but mostly just authorial navel-gazing.
Book One thoughts: Hey, did you know that if you're making any kind of longform work you should consider taking notes on things like character hair/eye color and background details? And also, it's good to have a beta reader? Because I don't know if I had either at the time of book one! And there are sooo many little continuity errors I noticed! They aren't things you're likely to catch unless you're looking for them, but it makes me think I want to go back at some point and not rewrite book one entirely, but just edit it a little. Fix some errors. It's still solid, and I'm pretty sure me being the author is the only reason it kind of felt like that "Spot the Errors" episode of Garfield and Friends. (Side note: If you can find it on the web, please watch the Garfield and Friends episode "Mistakes Will Happen." It's one of the funniest things ever, with far too many jokes to catch in one viewing for something that predates the internet.)
Also, it turns out that if you try to read something by downloading it in PDF form off of AO3 and putting it on your phone via Kindle, it does unholy things to the formatting. So I do not recommend reading Exiles (or anything else) like that.
Errors aside, god, this was nostalgic. One reason I started this reread was to get back into the heads of the characters, and it all started coming back to me right away. I can go oh, there's where I figured out how this would end. That's when this first comes up. Neat! Also there are some genuine accidental foreshadowing bits that lead into book three, of all things.
Book Two thoughts: Wow, this is long. It's easily the longest of the three, and I'm not sure how well the pacing holds up in retrospect. I was very much writing as a "weekly serial" rather than a novel at this point, and it shows for better or worse. There are chapters where I can tell I was just trying to get something up. Did you know if you write something with regular updates, it's a good idea to have a backlog instead of just writing week to week?
That said, this is where I started to shake off the constraints of "everything must be rooted in some preexisting fairy tale" and I think that's for the best. I started pulling inspiration from 50s pulp sci fi, Little Shop of Horrors, what people in the 90s thought VR was going to be like, and buddy cop flicks. I was figuring out my gender at the time I introduced Rem Tera, and wanted a nonbinary character whose issues were not centered around what were Nonbinary Character Tropes at the time, i.e. 'figuring out nonbinary was a thing, explaining it to others, which bathroom to use, etc.'
I also like playing with scale in unusual ways, and one thing I wanted to lean into was how to create a threatening antagonist who was a few inches tall in a world where people came in giant size. It turns out the answer is 'give him some big monsters to command and scary levels of manipulative charisma.' Lord Germain, you are the worst but I am so proud of you.
Note: I think there may be a chapter missing from the original Jukepop posting. I'll try to go through and fix it soon.
Still also very happy with the final arc, even if the story does a bit of narrative water treading to get there. This book has the most 'quiet time' with the characters, and I think in the long run it helped me flesh out the relationships established in book one and the new ones forming in book two. Especially since book three is pretty story-heavy. Speaking of! Book Three thoughts: Wow, this is like post-timeskip One Piece where one thing just leads right into another. It's unsurprising, since a lot of the plot threads laid in books one and two really activate here. Libra and Valerian have a been a presence from the beginning and Blue was hinted at as far as the Moonflower Market. So yes, I was sitting on those for a while and happy to set them off here.
No Reflection is probably the most difficult original fic work I've written so far. To give you an example, I started it too soon after finishing Of Rot and Bloom and was stalled out for years afterwards. The good news is that like any creative project that isn't made of expiring materials, you can pick a story up at any time. One day I finally decided to ditch the chapter I was stuck on, write something else and start the ball rolling again.
And it worked! I finished it. More or less. There's something of a Nona the Ninth/Alecto the Ninth "book 3 and 4 are part of a piece" feeling to the end of Book Three, but I do try to end on at least a climactic element. There are just a lot more cliffhangers this time around.
Man, I'm mean to Basil in this book and this isn't even his book! Poor guy is gonna have it rough in Book Four.
ALSO, there are at least two missing chapters, and they're important ones that reveal major plot elements. In fact, one is right in the climax. I need to fix that ASAP. Presumably AO3 lets you insert chapters? I'll figure out how.
So, what does this mean for Book Four? It means it's definitely happening, though I don't want to say it's happening immediately. Maybe after the New Year. I have some chapters prewritten for Book Four I want to revise, and this time I'm making sure I have a healthy backlog and a plot outline worked out.
For everyone who's read any part of Exiles, thanks so much for supporting me thus far! I really appreciate it. Wouldn't be able to keep up this much enthusiasm without you. And if you're thinking of writing (or drawing, or animating) your own original thing, my advice is just to do it! Just jump in. Yeah, it won't be perfect, but you'll learn by doing, and an imperfect story that exists is always better than the idealized one trapped in your head.

Apparently, I started this a few weeks after I’d finished ShB and it’s patches, which was sometime like... fall 2021... so this has only taken me... 16 months to finally finish...ish. Good enough anyways. lol ^^; At that point I was so full of ShB brainworms... This in particular is 5.0.

Tsukasa and Kagami have purple hair, Konata has blue hair, and Miyuki has pink hair. All are gesturing cheerfully at the camera with their eyes closed. Orko has been edited in behind them, cheering as well. /end ID]

eat, sleep and be admired! [scaramouche x gn!reader] ⎯⎯ fluff, modern au, slight bullying
Tumblr media
"hey, what's up with them?"
"seriously? this is the last period..."
scaramouche has been your deskmate in every class since the beginning of the second semester. he wouldn't mind sitting next to you if he had the right amount of patience to actually tolerate you. you should be considered lucky that you always sit in the back, since you spend most of your classtime sleeping anyways.
he muses as he rests his chin in his hand, taking delight in the way you doze off with your head down on the desk. if only you could realize how much the rest of your classmates have been poking fun at you, maybe then, scaramouche could get a good laugh out of it.
this is exactly why he can't bear with you at all. what's the joy in watching other people tease you when you're unconscious? it's practically useless if he doesn't get to see you grow absolutely red in embarrassment. and so, he always wakes you up. the complaints of his peers going, 'don't wake them up yet!' and, 'let's wait until the teacher notices,' slips past his ears as he reaches out to gently shake your shoulder.
scaramouche's pretty indigo eyes watch with amusement when you slowly sit up and rub your eyes. he glares back at the classmates who were teasing you just moments before, now cowering from beneath his cold stare. "oh, it's you again! thanks for waking me up," you sheepishly chuckle, not even noticing the way people whispered behind your back.
he scoffs and for a split second, you admire how beautiful his smile is. "what's your deal, anyways? do you have a job or something?" scaramouche asks, simultaneously spinning his pen in between his fingers. "no, why would i?" you say in response, completely oblivious as to why he asked such a question.
you start flipping through pages in your notebook and your eyes go wide the second you look at the board. "how long was i asleep for?" you quietly query, tugging on scaramouche's sleeve. he rubs his nape and looks down at his notes. "you can have mine. i don't need to study for this stuff; it's only for weak-minded people, much like you." scaramouche slides his notebook towards your side of the desk.
"really? thank-!" you pause when he gets up as soon as the bell rings and exits the classroom, leaving you all alone. "you?" you shake your head. 'what a weird guy,' you wonder within your mind, collecting your items to leave school as well.
as you walk to the bakery, you notice that weird guy taking the same route you do. it's strange because every single time you walk, you haven't crossed paths with him, not once. and for some reason, every single time he stops in his tracks, you do the same. it's not like you're sneaking up on him or anything so?...
then, when he continues to walk, you carry on as well. all is fine until the two of you reach a crosswalk and have to wait until the walking sign lights up from across the street. you have no choice but to be noticed by him either way. it's awkward, to say the least. you keep on moving from foot to foot while eating a chocolate cornet your friend got for you while scaramouche idly stands.
he's much too occupied counting how many cars pass by when you finally start talking to him. "how come you're taking this route today?" you ask, mouth full of your pastry. you watch the way his eyes shift side to side as they follow the cars' whereabouts.
"none of your business." he adjusts his schoolbag over his shoulder and walks as soon as the road is clear of any passing cars. you curiously tilt your head and take another bite into the cornet. you start walking forward when scaramouche reached the other side. you're on your way to your favourite bakery and dealing with him is the least of your worries at the moment.
but of course, the world isn't on your side today because he's also heading to the same bakery.
"hi, barbara!" you greet the blonde at the front counter with a soft voice, hoping to not look as awkward in scaramouche's presence. luckily for you, the blue haired male is immersed in looking for a pastry in other glass cases.
"if it isn't my favourite client." barbara places a paperbag on the counter; you've been here so many times that she already knows your usual.
she crosses her arms and her fine locks sway with her movements. "that'll be 6.50 but you have a lot of points on your card, are you sure you'd rather not get this for free?" barbara queries with a quizzical look. you shake your head, "i'm saving them up for something important. thanks!" you take the paperbag and turn to face scaramouche, whose back was facing you.
"you getting anything?" you peer over his shoulder and you see the way his hand hovers over the case with melon bread. scaramouche retracts his hand and turns his head to look at you. there's a pure smile on your lips and your gorgeous eyes are filled with delight.
scaramouche narrows his eyes, "what does it matter to you?" you put a finger to your chin and crouch down to meet the view of the melon bread. you glance back at him and suggest, "i can buy whatever you want anytime. think of it as a thanks for being my personal wake up call in class."
his pupils dilate in surprise but only for a quick moment. "no, i can very well buy things for myself." scaramouche digs in his pocket but tenses up when his hand feels around. "... it appears i might have to take you up on that offer." he sighs, instantly turning red. this was so embarrassing; how could he forget his wallet in his locker?
you clasp your hands together, "alright!" barbara watches with deep interest from behind the counter as you and scaramouche converse with each other.
"thanks, i guess." scaramouche murmurs as he bites into the plush dough of the bread. the two of you walk together, side by side, to your own houses. the beautiful orange and yellow that paints itself across the sky covers your home nation, inazuma, in a blanket of the sunset.
you munch on a chunk of your pink frosted donut, happily mumbling, "it's nothing! i got it for free, anyways. i have a lot of points stacked up on my card there." he gives you a side eye. "how often do you buy pastries there? i always see you eating them in class." scaramouche purses his lips when you glance at him.
"it's not like i look at you that much or anything..."
you giggle, "i visit the bakery before and after school; their pastries are completely irresistible. how come you went there today, of all days?" scaramouche shrugs, "seeing you eat so much of those pastries in class had me a bit hungry too. i normally don't like foods that are too sweet so i went with the melon bread."
your mouth hung agape, "ah, so that's why. i guess you never did strike me as the sugary type of person." you finish the last of your donut and lick off the frosting from your fingertips as scaramouche sneers. "what's that supposed to mean?"
"nothing. oh, there's my house! i'll see you tomorrow, scara!" you exclaim, running ahead. you leave him speechless and frozen on the spot. "scara?..." scaramouche's eyes are wide and his cheeks are tinted pink. he rapidly shakes his head to wear off the addicting trance you placed on him.
"well played." he smiles as he eats the rest of his pastry.
from that point on, he starts walking to the bakery with you, everyday, after school. the two of you become close and rather quickly in such a short amount of time. of course, scaramouche still has to wake you up every single time you fall asleep in class but this time, it's an action with affection behind it.
you began developing feelings slowly but surely for him and he to you as well. but there's one problem. scaramouche is the type of guy who will never face his true feelings no matter what, so someone has to take matters into their own hands, right?
"hey, hey, scara!" you poke at his shoulder as he has his head buried in his arms on his desk. he looks up at you and mumbles, "what?" you grin, "there's a new pastry at the bakery. you wanna check it out with me?" the bell rings and causes scaramouche to stand up and gather his things. "sure."
that single word had your heart doing somersaults in your chest. you felt so giddy the whole walk there, it made scaramouche feel queasy. plus, it didn't help that you were talking about the dessert since... "barbara told me that you should only give this dessert to someone you really admire and i have a special someone for that. what about you, scara?" you take a glimpse at him.
scaramouche felt his stomach drop. you, liking someone? impossible. he grumbles, "i don't get the idea of it anyways." you grab onto his sleeve, "why not?" scaramouche rolls his eyes, "who's this special someone of yours? you never mentioned you had one." you let go of him and the cold air hit his arm instead of your warm grip. "you'll see! 'cause i'll be giving it to them today. they should be at the bakery soon!"
your grin turns even brighter than before and scaramouche dryly gulps. how cruel must you be to drag him along just for this? barbara's head perks up when you and him enter. "good afternoon, (name), scaramouche," she greets. you excitedly exclaim, "hi, barbara! scara, you can find something you want, i'll go get the dessert."
you notice the way his lips downcurve into a cute frown, "fine." you rush to the front counter and barbara lowers herself to grab something from the side. she gives you an encouraging thumbs up, "good luck!" you take the packaged sweet from her. it's a pink and red frosted cupcake coated with sugar and perched inside the frosting is a ring with a purple heart gem.
you thank her again and the second you turn around, scaramouche is standing there. you nearly jump in surprise, "scara! did you find something you want to get?" he shakes his head but his gaze remains cold and distant. you smile, "i don't think the person's here yet. can we sit at one of the tables to wait?"
scaramouche nods, still silent. you place the cupcake on the table and sit across from him. he huffs, "you know, i should get going. it'll be awkward if i'm just here." you wave your hands around, "it's fine! i want you to meet him." you find it hard not to menacingly giggle like a maniac!... or something.
scaramouche doesn't reply any further but sinks into his spot. a whole hour passes and the two of you talk and play video games together. however, scaramouche feels as though you've been stood up.
he feels bad, surprisingly. but he doesn't know how you remain as happy and cheerful as ever when you're with him. you look out the window next to you. "look, scara! the sun is setting." your eyes watch in awe and scaramouche deadpans. "(name)..."
you sigh. it's been fun toying with him for a while but you suppose it's time to put it to rest. you stand up and push the dessert towards him. "will you accept this from me?" your cheeks turn pink as you meekly grin and he finally gets the hint. 'what a pretty sight,' he thinks to himself. scaramouche walks over to you and you turn to him.
he cups your face in his hands and your heart rate quickens by the second. "i don't like sweets... but the only one i'll be willing to taste is you." scaramouche's lips perfectly slot into yours and you return his gentle kiss with the same intentions. his lips are soft and warm and you smile at how lovely it felt.
scaramouche pulls away, still holding your face. he suddenly pinches your cheeks with a glare in his eyes, "it wasn't funny how you talked about confessing to another guy." you whine, "okay, okay! but in all honesty, your reactions were funny!" scaramouche leaves you be and takes the dessert.
"come on, let's go the park," he says, offering his hand. you rush to him and hold onto his arm instead. scaramouche smiles as you complain how much your face hurts and barbara muses with lovesick eyes as the two of you leave the bakery.
it's not the ideal first date; spending your time in a little kids' playground and eating a cupcake on the slide, though you wouldn't want it any other way. "what do you like about me?" you ask, slowly swinging next to him on the swing set. "that's a hard one to answer," he says in response, to which you gawk at.
"can't take a joke?" a smirk adorns his lips and you grumble under your breath. "hm... i like a lot about you. i like how kind you are. i like how you laze around and eat 24/7." scaramouche notices that the sky became darker than before. you pout, "is that what you're going to tell people if they ask you the same question about your (s/o)?"
scaramouche's grip tightens on the chain of the swing. calling you his (s/o) has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? speaking of a ring, the ring that was in the cupcake nicely wraps itself around his finger and each time he looks at it, a grin forms. "why not? what would you tell other people about me?" scaramouche gets off of his swing and walks behind you.
you rest your back against his torso when his arms snake around your waist, putting the swaying of your swing to a stop. you feel his lips against the back of your head and your heart is whole and content. "i have a lot to tell them about! i like your hair, your voice, your hands, your humor, your hugs, your kiss and-" you stop short when he disrupts your sentence.
"kiss? should we make it plural?" scaramouche smiles when you turn your head to face him. his eyelids are lowering as he leans in and finally pushes his lips into yours. the faint taste of the cupcake on your tongue would have made him grimace in normal circumstances, but you somehow make desserts taste so good to him.

Notable And Underrated Anime That Have Excellent English Dubs, In My Opinion - A List (With Some Extra Banter or Whatever)
The works of Shinichirō Watanabe, ranging from Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Space Dandy, and Carole & Tuesday (so much so that they're better off disqualified from lists likes this, due to being way too obvious choices... moving on)
FLCL (heck, would even say the same to the otherwise derivative Progressive and Alternative)
The Read or Die OVA, alongside its sequel series R.O.D the TV (so good, that even the likes of Yomiko "The Paper" Readman changing accents actually doesn't feel as jarring as I thought it would be)
Azumanga Daioh (on a side note, Ayumu "Osaka" Kasuga sounds a bit like Steven Universe's Amethyst and The Owl House's Vee Noceda; can't really say why)
Lucky Star (so, which part of the Choco cornets should we eat first?)
Nichijou ('nuff said)
K-On!/K-On!! (might sound a bit jarring if one also watched Puella Magi Madoka Magica on the English dub (a bit good, but nothing compared to the Rebellion movie and maybe the compilation films; case in point, Mio Akiyama, Ritsu Tainaka, Tsumugi Kotobuki, and Azusa Nakano are Homura Akemi, Kyubey, -bloody- Hitomi Shizuki, and Madoka Kaname respectively)
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagaan (kinda sucks that the two compilation movies don't have dubs; would have loved seeing the extra hamminess of the characters' English voices in those)
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water - ADV (even if the occasional accents are inaccurate, the emotional delivery of the VAs is hard to deny, especially the vile Gargoyle's)
Kill la Kill (if one has witnessed it, then you know that they sure had a lot of fun playing the characters in this extremely fun gainaxy romp)
Toradora! (...basically the closest we get to seeing Madoka verbally beat down Kyubey in romance and stuff)
Ghost in the Shell, both the movie duology (1 and 2: Innocence) and Stand Alone Complex, including the Tachikomatic Days extras and the Solid State Society movie (so much so that the latter's DVDs are mostly set with the English dub on default, reportedly even in Japan)
REDLINE (can't speak enough for it so to describe its epicness)
Dead Leaves (you can actually watch it on YouTube... it might overwhelm you)
Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt (telling that it's way more raunchy than even the original Japanese)
Golden Boy (you know, at least the show didn't continue on, lest it might have gotten way too weirder like the manga it's adapted from)
Black Lagoon (so good, that it resulted with the Roberta's Blood Trail OVAs having the cast reprise their roles due to fan demand)
Excel Saga and Puni Puni Poemy (so madcap, the former's titular character's VA broke her voice halfway through the show)
Honorable mentions:
Neon Genesis Evangelion - particularly the ADV dub, with Manga Entertainment's efforts on The End of Evangelion and the Director's Cut versions of Episodes 21-24 (it might be correctly deemed as flawed, but nowadays, it sure has proven its worth, albeit at the cost of the Netflix dub being derided as lacking in emotion and perhaps also nuance)
The Manga Entertainment dubs for the Patlabor movie duology (a shame the OVA series preceding it doesn't share the same cast, while the Patlabor TV series dub... eludes me)
GaoGaiGar (flaw: it's unfinished, and thus never even reached the FINAL parts)
In the meantime, hopeful readers, feel free to put on personal recommendations, in case there'll be a second part, if not a commenter's edition.

bene gesserit scheming from dune: adventures in the imperium ttrpg released by modiphius entertainment
tried to source the artist for this piece, but it seems short of buying the rule book to look up the credits i can only narrow it down to probably one of the following:  Louie Maryon, Ramazan Kazaliev, Pat Fix, Amir Zand, Carlos Garijo, Eren ARIK, Mitch Aseltine, Carmen Cornet, Joel Chaim Holtzman.  reverse image search only gets me to modiphius promo stuff.  not sure why it would be so hard to specify in their material.  i looked up each of the artists’ portfolios with no direct hits and a bunch are too similar in style to pinpoint .  if anyone knows please let me know.

Natural Information Society — Since Time is Gravity (Eremite)

youtube
Joshua Abrams has been creating music with the Natural Information Society for 14 years. Seven albums in, the group’s name has expanded; they are now Natural Information Society Community Ensemble with Ari Brown. It isn’t just the group’s name that has gotten longer; so has the list of contributors. Joining the core Natural Information Society of Abrams (guimbri and bass), Lisa Alvarado (harmonium), Mikel Patrick Avery (percussion), and Jason Stein (bass clarinet), are Hamid Drake (drums), Josh Berman and Ben Lamar Gay (cornets), Nick Mazzarella and Mai Sugimoto (alto saxophones and flute), Kara Bershad (harp), and the aforementioned tenor saxophonist Ari Brown, in a special guest role that befits his status. Brown is one of the most prominent and celebrated tenor saxophonists of Chicago. Based on the powerful playing displayed here, one would never know that he is nearing eighty.
“Moontide Chorus” builds up from a single bass note to a varied syncopated line in that register. Against it, polyrhythmic percussion and chordal winds are added. Brown solos in a modal idiom that interlocks with the bass parts. The rest of the group rejoins and the percussion takes things double time until the piece’s conclusion. “Murmuration” begins with Bershad playing a gentle harp solo that is then doubled in heterophony by bass instruments. Avery and Drake add economical punctuations and the winds have vertical sonorities. Stein adds a long held tonic drone to the mix that is then doubled by the other winds in octaves. Subsequently, complicated harmonics are evoked by overlapping chords. The bass takes the harp melody and the winds break their chords into corruscating arpeggiations. Brown adds a new melody and Bershad reenters with chordal outlines. Stein adds yet another countermelody alongside a flute solo,   The harp line solo yields to a final denouement. Heady stuff.
“Is” emphasizes a groove created by drums and guimbri. Over this, Brown takes an extended solo, with wide-ranging scales and blues bends. On the piece’s latter half, a single note ostinato from cornets and passage work from winds fills out the background, and provides a center from which Brown’s solo finds its grounding. Cornets and flute are featured on “Stigmergy,” as are tangy dissonances from the rest of the group. During his solo, Brown creates echoing reverberation. An extended section for muted cornet provides a foil for Brown. Much as the tenor saxophonist is an intrinsic part of the proceedings, having more of the players involved in the soloing makes this a personal favorite.
“Immemorial” has a fascinating textural profile. Alvarado’s harmonium builds a chordal background onto which sustained notes, glissandos, and microtones are added. Glockenspiel and hand drums create a supple rhythmic underpinning. It is the most adventurous of interactions, and creates beautifully blurred harmonic colors.
“Wane” and“Wax” are comparatively shorter pieces. On “Wane,” Abrams begins with an extended guimbri solo that is soon joined by Drake’s hand drums. Partway through, they undertake a mixed meter duo that complicates the rhythm. At the end of the piece, the first patterning returns. “Wax” serves as a companion piece that explores shorter rhythmic strands. The recording concludes with “Gravity,” which begins with a loping groove, led by thrumming bass from Abrams, over which Stein solos using Eastern scales. Brown plays a muscular solo that combines a modern jazz approach with a Non Western vocabulary replete with trills. The winds play major sevenths, creating a dissonant background. Brown’s solo moves to a howling climax, followed by a long coda of extended techniques.
Natural Information Society works well with this expanded complement. The inclusion of Brown is especially effective. Whether the new collaborators will remain, or others players will join Abrams, Since Time is Gravity demonstrates that Natural Information Society is a durable creative enterprise.

Hi~ I’m back with more brass band stuff <3
Ash would thrive in a brass band. He would definitely play the cornet. The cornet is kinda the face of a brass band, they’re flashy and play the melody most of the time and I can’t see any alternatives for him. Honestly he deserves his own post with how much I have to say about him. Out of everyone in the redactedverse, I think him playing in a brass band is the most believable.
Christian would play flugelhorn. He’d get some cornet parts which would take him on such an ego-trip, but also who has even heard of flugelhorn?? His instrument would probably get confused with a bunch of others and he would get in fights over it. Also, I think he would be really good at sight reading. Or generally that he plays really well.
And, in case you don’t know, flugelhorns sit next to cornets :)
Christian could also play solo cornet.
I don’t think Darlin’ would play in the band at all. I do think they’d have a drum set at home and play, just not classical or any other kind of music a brass band plays. They just wouldn’t be interested. At least my interpretation of them wouldn’t. It’s sometimes hard to remember that what I see as obvious is likely just a headcanon for most of the listeners since they’re supposed to be self-inserts. I’d love to hear your thoughts on this.
I have an idea of what David would play, but I’m not so sure about it. Again, I’d like to hear what you think first. The same with Milo.
this is so interesting because i’ve honestly never encountered much brass band culture at all my eyes are really opening!!
- YES asher is so brass coded i don’t know how one could put him in any other section
- flugelhorn 😭 i’ve only ever heard of it in passing i could not even tell you what one looks like or sounds like. aka PERFECT for christian. and yes he’s definitely infuriatingly good at sightreading but i think asher could outdo him in improv based stuff and it really gets to him
- i actually do have darlin down as both a brass player and a string player! i’ll go into the “lore” of it more when i publish the shaw pack hcs but for brass i have them down in trombone with milo…in more of a jazz sense certainly but i can see them there for some reason. drums i can also so see outside of a classical sense
- my david hc is so silly i’ll go into detail more but OUTSIDE OF THAT i actually have him down as the conductor!! in my mind the au is sort of a student-run orchestra thing and who better fits the role than him 🤷‍♀️
