Even after running for his life several times, he had never felt his heart beat as fast as it did when she stepped out of the elevator. She looked at Sloane, continuing her duties as her maid of honor as she made one final adjustment to the bride’s dress. He looked at her.

Her eyes shone with a certain joy; one that was rare to see mere hours before the end of the world. Maybe it was the way her dress hung softly on her hips and shoulders, or the way her hair looked shiny and soft. Maybe it was how the light reflected off of her face, accentuating her beautifully done makeup.

Maybe it was just her.

When she stepped out, she walked to Five. Their hearts thumped so loud, they were silently hoping the other person couldn’t hear it.

“You look… great.”

“So do you, did you try something new with your hair?”

“Yeah, Klaus insisted on styling it. He said it made me look like a ‘sexy little grade school boy.’”

She chuckled at that. She took his arm and sat down next to him.

The ceremony was beautiful. He knew he should be paying more attention to his brother, but he kept sneaking glances at her. During the vows, the newlyweds were tearing up. She was too. He immediately noticed, and grabbed her hand to trace small, comforting shapes on the back of her hand. She put her other hand on top of his, turning her body into him. Resting her head on his shoulder, he was overjoyed.

He would never let her know that, though.

Well, at least when they were sober.

one thing that the showrunners of rings of power did that made me so pleasantly surprised and relieved (and it was something that i didn’t even realized i was concerned about): is that that they were completely unapologetic about the themes they aimed to convey, even when they could be perceived as cliche. there was no ironic comment made after a heartfelt conversation, there was no fourth wall breaking after a long monologue about hope. there was absolutely no cynicism to it. one thing that makes me so tired in media is how common it is to underplay important moments because otherwise they would be too corny, everything needs to be self-aware, the audience needs to know that the writers also think that a heartfelt moment is ‘cringe’ when it goes on for to long, that, yes, the main character went on a full monologue about hope and love, but don’t worry guys! the comic relief character is about to mock this speech because how dare they be sentimental in a non ironic way? and it is such a breath of fresh air to see protagonists like galadriel, nori and elrond going on full monologue mode about their identity and their crisis with it, the importance of family, the search and belief in something bigger than they are, in the pursuit of the greater good and how it could be a treacherous road. i feel like this is such an integral part of tolkiens narrative, how all the themes of hope/despair, love/hate, war/peace, etc are laid out to the reader in a very honest and unapologetic way. jirt was deadass out there talking about the significance and the overwhelming power of friendship, how a real king can be recognized not only by his military knowledge, but by his ability to hope and to heal. THE WHOLE POINT OF THE HOBBIT WAS ‘THE REAL TREASURE WERE THE FRIENDS WE MADE ALONG THE WAY’. so yea, i love that the writers of the shows didn’t choose to go down the ironic route when approaching these themes

I am sooooo long term insane about star wars it's my favvvv

Star Wars is such a fun puddle to splash in because it has such HUGE worldbuilding, and such interesting characters. There are almost 50 years of movies, books, TV, comics, and whatever else people could dream about! The world fascinates me - how all these people, all these cultures interact. Who are the jedi to the everyday people? To the mandalorians? To the republic? To their friends? How do they move through this world, and how do they change it? (You can tell I'm a big fan of the prequel era lmao the jedi are sooooo cool)

my current star wars obsession(I was really into it as a kid too) was kicked off by watching the clone wars series - the relationship between the individual clones, the clones and the jedi, and the clones and the people there were made to protect fascinates me! The clones and the jedi in particular. The clones were made for the jedi - to fight for them, to die for them, and in the end, to kill them. That relationship has so many places it can go, and I will never tire of reading about it.

To me, star wars is about the people - its through their stories that we discover the world and its particularities, and in their stories that we find joy and hope and fear and anticipation and a thousand other feelings I couldn't begin to name. The worldbuilding is a lattice on which to grow characters - a framework to give them a past, motivations, dreams and fears. Star wars has this amazing worldbuilding and such interesting characters and so, so many holes to jump them though.

Funnily enough, my favorite scene in all of star wars has nothing to do with ANY of this. My favorite scene in all of star wars is in the empire strikes back, during the battle of hoth. Its when Luke takes down the at-at by wrapping cables - when the at-at begins to fall, they cut to a stop motion view and it makes me go crazyyyy every time!!! I love practical effects and this one in particular is so stinkin cool!!!!
