hello! a post-bbs analysis no one asked for

so i ran away from tumblr for months once bbs ep 12 came out—not bc i’d been fooled abt the breakup, but bc i understood the message behind it all after some time and i was so worried to come on here and see people not getting it. but i didn’t even need to come here bc it was happening everywhere. months later, and twitter is a complete mess all the time for various reasons. i still have feelings about it all, though. so i commented on the mdl page abt it but this is a bit clearer:

disclaimer: should be obvious but you don’t have to agree with any of this and i still think that teaser was highly uncalled for lmao. also i have no idea where the discourse is at now bc it’s been months and lots of other shows have been airing.

so the final ep is kind of gimmicky, and patpran didn’t really need to go back to being a secret. but i feel like the lyrics of the second ost perfectly illustrate their mindset and perspective on their relationship as a unit. as a unit made up of the two of them alone. they don’t need others’ thoughts or opinions on their relationship to make it real and valid to them. they don’t need others (outsiders) to understand, or “get it,” because for patpran, as long as the two of them understand, it’s enough. even as per the lyrics of the third ost, only they know what’s in between the lines.

so when they decide to return to being a secret (which is more of an open secret, really), it’s bc they wanted to diminish the strain their relationship would have on that with their parents (this is mostly for pran though—and it has nothing to do with their sexualities). they didn’t want to put a strain on their own relationship, either, by trying to make their parents “understand.” and it’s not like them being together openly would heal the families’ wounds. in patpran’s eyes, going back to being a “secret” just allows them to protect their relationship. they could have confronted them directly, but patpran knew where dissaya was coming from, and they knew that it’d take time for her to come around (if ever). but they don’t change themselves for their parents either. idk if i’m explaining it well but basically they kind of say, “our relationship is ours, so our parents, in that regard, don’t really matter that much anyway.”

the ball is in the parents’ court now, since they know the boys are still dating, and i feel like it’d just be up to them to decide if/when they want to make their acceptance known. i think there’s a strong message in patpran deciding not to yield, knowing their family tension might never actually change (rather than trying to force it to change by being together out in the open w their families). they (p’aof and co.) found quite a roundabout way of getting there, but they did.

also, i’m almost entirely convinced that ep 11 was written to be a finale of sorts, which is why i was so confused about what would be in ep 12 back when the show was airing. then ep 12 came out and i was like, “why did that feel like an epilogue/movie episode?”

so yeah, they really took some risks and switched up the formula w this show; some of those risks landed and some didn’t. i will say, though, that final balcony scene in ep 12 makes me cry to this day just bc of how happy & in love they are. we see that their relationship was kind of meant to be. we see how far they’ve come as they play with the “just a friend, friend/buddy” concept—the translated thai title of the show. but also how that phrase went from representing vagueness, uncertainty and unrequited feelings to representing unity, understanding, and a secret about a love that belongs to only them.

So um. I fully didnt realise this was eunwoo until he sang in the wedding episode and i was like ok shoehorned in singing scene, this has to be an idol right? (In other words I should look at credits more often T.T) in my defense i only know like 2 astro songs lol

The bullying storyline made me SO nervous i fully thought shed succeed in ruining mr jins reputation (i cant handle storylines where people get unjustly framed for things it proper stresses me out skdjsk) or that something terrible was gonna happen to the poor student as a revenge from the bullies. but also seeing teachers actually care about students wellbeing over the reputation of the school is something that can be so 🥹 you love to see it

I rly loved the school trip episode!!! her coworker is still so set on trying to match her with mr lee skdjsk shes winning the wingman points but not the 'keeping up with the news' points (and also the cotton candy scene. What if i passed away. What if i straight up died. what then)

Oh and the cryptic new shaman girl? Shes def connected to mr lee right, cos shes got way too many mystic powers like he seems to have, what with his teleporting around to scare the bully. Oh and shes tryna break into his basement and all (and ofc yul gets roped into that too, he can never catch a break poor kid)

Edit; hes the MOUNTAIN SPIRIT RIGGGGGHT that explains the magic (i have to say i prefer him with long hair, men should have long hair more sksksk) super curious to see what his angle is since he cursed this family and is still keeping tabs on them but keeps implying mr jins gonna die or smth 😳

It was satisfying as fuck to watch him wreck the conspiracy theory streamer in one flick though, i was chanting KILL HIS ASS at the screen lmao

LMAO I really don’t get that altho i can see that the timing might be a little back to back, and i’m not a SHL-only stan by any measure but:

For HYX especially,

Firstly it was already having problems since the end of last year with censorship and review. This is mostly due to the reason that 2ha is a pretty big fandom and is the cult fave in the danmei industry - what this means is that there are three types of fans basically right, (1) Normal fans who love the novel + show (2) Those who fanatically love the novel in some extreme ways haha (3) Those who hate it and/or are HYX-onlys - so you get it all in a bag. 

The first type of fans is definitely the easier ones to deal with, but unfortunately in big fandoms you get a lot of (2) and (3). It’s not something that’s exclusive only to 2ha/HYX but because it’s a cult fave, and a controversial one at that, problems definitely arise.

(2) are the ones who head down to the filming scenes, take photos and footage despite crew telling ppl not to do it, not to sneak around filming sites and definitely not to leak photos or footage. They do it anyway. Yeah sure of course it’s a couple of photos every few weeks or a tiny video every few weeks but word gets out. They’re inevitably hurting the show and the fandom with their actions, because shit trends on Weibo really fast, and the censorship committee (not just for the film industry or shows) is always lurking on the site to catch any sign of you know, hate speech for the country etc. and more. Not related, but the point is that social media is watched very closely. It’s not a myth or an exaggeration, you really just got to be careful, and HYX is a show that, despite not having been broadcasted, has consistently trended on Weibo over the last few months. Not always because of leaks, but yeah, HYX is in everyone’s faces. Fans themselves put a fucking huge spotlight on the show BEFORE we even have any content at all, and of course this isn’t enough to like create huge trouble for the show but then we have-

(3), which I believe creates the most trouble - the thing is 2ha and meatbun who wrote the book, has a long line of haters and antis, way before HYX came into the picture. I shall not go into details of how I’ve seen some big accounts on Tumblr here spit vitriol at the book without even reading it just based on the content/trigger warnings and playing the morality card (and I think most ppl who’ve followed me for a while know just what I think about that). Like this was way before any footage or leaks or even HYX being a thing came about - as a cult fave it has its share of haters, and this share is a huge. There are those who get off on their moral high grounds XD and I think especially these ones are the most troublesome, all they have to do is report that HYX is immoral, bad for culture etc. etc. hahaha and yeah the censorship team is always ready to step in on reports, especially on BL stuff.

And of course the larger part is the change in censorship processes - honestly even way before SHL came out in end Feb, HYX was no closer to getting passed by the review committee than it is now. Maybe yes, SHL scenes may be now used as reference for comparison but seriously? People are deluding themselves if they thought pre-SHL HYX was going through the review process smoothly and only hit roadblocks after. I mean, we’ve all seen the leaks, some of them are truly like god-tier scenes that may be hard to explain away. It’s not like they can repackage the script especially because they have to submit everything to the review committee.

I mentioned this in a post yesterday but how SHL passed reviews is due to the fact that they didn’t have to submit a full script. They only had to submit a partial script, and that makes a world of difference. Basically a team, under these requirements, can repackage the script to include the more het looking parts even I feel, and of course some heavy misdirection by the team, it could work. Now that you have to put an entire script up for scrutiny.. I mean, it’s hard. This is just a game of probability.

And the last reason I think is still Tencent. Honestly, I’ve never seen a huge ass MNC like this handle a show this terribly.

1. No control over leaks - This is honestly the dumbest shit to do

2. Terrible crisis management response time - When fans leak footage, it’s standard and practical business sense to control it IMMEDIATELY. They shouldn’t just leave it up to the crew to put up notices and as the company that owns the rights to the show, it’s up to them to possibly threaten legal action as well. Basically a sterner stance would have helped a lot, but Tencent is a motherfucker of a company who only cares about free marketing and publicity without any considerations over impact to the show itself 

3. Terrible at communicating with fans - Seriously, I’ve never seen a company or team that’s been this bad at confirming delays etc. and providing updates about a show. I understand that it’s mostly due to them not wanting to affect the review process or create more chaos within the fandom but lmao Tencent allowed the hype to build so much and then goes absolutely silent at crazy rumours. I mean we had to find out about a delay from Cai Bao, their cat mascot, like??? In a really veiled and poetic message that didn’t outright say the word ‘delay’ like damn these ppl have a lot of time

As for SPL,

Lol we don’t know anything about this show. We don’t know if they took out or left in the Yifu part that would supposedly make it less gay or whatever, we don’t know anything about how gay it should have been or could have, so this one might be a tad more ridiculous. I mean none of us have seen any good leaks, and we haven’t seen any of the script, we got ZERO idea about this. Maybe they really went hard on the bromance, how would any of us know hahaha so all the more it’s like people have zero basis to go on, to say that it’s because of SHL. Seriously, everyone’s shooting in the dark.

Technically if laws didn’t change last Feb, I think SPL/WIK should have been passed in the same way as SHL did, but it’s just inopportune time for them.

- So tl:dr HYX already had tons of problems, that I doubt were going to go away just because SHL didn’t air, honestly. For SPL, it’s really hard to tell what failed the review, because none of us know what’s going on in the script.

No one cared about SHL, even I only realized the show was airing on the day itself and then made a rec post after I watched the first 4 eps. And if it truly was anything to do with SHL, I’m telling you that the first thing the censorship committee will do is basically shut SHL down, get Youku to take it off sites etc. until it’s reviewed again etc. etc. That hasn’t happened yet, at least not before HYX and SPL were stalled.

ALSO!! Don’t have to feel sorry for SHl fans hahaha I’m telling ya a lot of us definitely weren’t OG SHL or TYK fans, seriously! All the bigger accounts I see on Twitter are a combination of CQL/SHL or MXTX/SHL, SPL/SHL and I am personally 2HA/HYX/SHL. The fight is all out on Twitter HAHAHAHA but it’s not that bad, we’ve all got practice. Seriously WHO ACTUALLY is an SHL only stan I’ve honestly not seen much?! HAHAHA the point is we’re all yelling on behalf of SHL as a cross fandom fan, easier for us to do so as well. We’re talking about 2ha/HYX/SPL/Priest dedicated accounts that delved deep into SHL championing for no-nonsense in the space hahaha

Just to add to the ending discourse (sorry!!!), I thought the 'do it well or...' line was Yohan's inner dialogue like in an earlier ep where we hear them both think to themselves 'ah so this is what gets to you' (paraphrasing!), and also to show how in sync they are in that they can have this almost psychic conversation. In that case, it's plausible to suggest Yohan didn’t even intend for Gaon to know he’d been there at all (in this scenario he’s waiting up high just for one last glimpse) (1/5)

..but even if you don’t buy that, it’s pretty obvious he definitely didn’t plan on being chased down for an intense staring contest. Which means he returned to Korea, risking breaking his cover, with no expectations for himself other than the chance to see Gaon again. So if he’s that desperate after only one month, it’s actually illogical to believe they WOULDN'T see each other again! And to frame it in terms of romance, you’ve got the classic trope of Yohan as the one who’s in love (2/5)

...but believes it to be unrequited, happy just to glimpse his love from afar before leaving, and then Gaon, by his actions (running after him) and expressions (heart eyes!), confesses his own feelings and proves him wrong. And if they look sad/vulnerable it’s because this is the first time they are truly seeing each other, without any secrets or confusion between them, and there’s still a lot of pain there because that doesn’t just disappear, but openness is the first step to healing... (3/5)

...which is why they end up smiling. And you’re right, I’ve seen ppl screencap Gaon’s sad face after Yohan walks off as if it was the final frame and thus proof that he’s alone and depressed and it's a bad ending, but he DOES start smiling again, right at the very end, and that makes all the difference. On a totally different note, despite the peak romance of it all I don’t think I’ll ever be able to watch it now without laughing cos I have this vision of Yohan... (4/5)

i do disagree about yohan’s intention of being noticed by gaon. i personally think he wanted gaon to know. otherwise, he wouldn’t have purposefully put his hand on gaon’s chair. if he was trying to be stealthy, that’s not the way to do it. i think what he did was test instead; yohan loves the hunt. he wasn’t sure gaon would actually come find him or not, and when gaon shouts for yohan, it starts his realization that gaon actually wants him in his life. yohan took the risk of rubbing salt into his wound just to see how gaon felt, which is why he nods and gets emotional at first because he thinks gaon is upset with him. but then gaon smiles, and yohan realizes that what he thought was wrong. which is where that desperation comes into play. he wanted gaon to chase him and to see if he’d still walk away knowing gaon would always be there instead of walking away with finality and realizing gaon never wanted to see him again. so def still illogical that they won’t see each other again. they absolutely will, and it won’t take long at all. cuz yeah, yohan came back after a month, lmao. man has no sense of self-preservation, and he's in love, so.

i do agree with the romance trope as well. it’s totally yohan being in love and at first thinking gaon doesn’t reciprocate it, but he’s wrong, of course. it’s definitely a moment to give them time away from each other for a bit. a month isn’t very long to be on your own and heal, and i think both need that for themselves. plus as pointed out in other posts, there is no way they’re not calling and facetiming. i made a note on another post how elijah specifically talked to someone in texas, from across the world, and you’re telling me she’s not going to be calling gaon every day? yohan’s not going to sneak in secret FaceTime moments with gaon? please.

Is today's biggest story really a pair of socks I mean WHY NOT am I right, that may as well happen! With impeccable timing, as the fandom and the world went bananas about Ho-livia WildStyle (a drag queen name for the ages right there), the first of the limited edition TPWK socks that people ordered basically on blind faith (you fully couldn't tell what they were going to look like at all on the website, and now we know why lmao) have arrived with a bang: they seemed to come with either blue or pink hearts, but in fact it turns out you get one of two color combos, either pink and white or, uh: BLUE AND GREEN HEARTS. I'm not one to carry on about like jeans and a green shirt or what have you but this is a CHOICE, and if the antis don't have performative burnings of their evil larrie merch honestly WHAT is the POINT; the resale market of the limited edition socks is already booming though so there's always that option, if either side can bear to conduct business across the divide. My question is, did they really time it to play out this precisely on purpose? Unlikely tbh, but if that's a thing they're capable of I have some THOUGHTS about the way other Harry merch takes like 4 months to arrive...

Larrie socks aside however, the real discourse continues to be about you-know-what, with the players out there fanning the flames wildly. There's too much nonsense to bother with it all (the quoted sources in the articles directly contradicting each other's stories also makes it difficult) so let's just... *spins wheel*....okay I landed on 'tabloids say Harry's wedding speech talked about his girlfriend Olivia' here goes. Imagine if any of this were real, that Harry ('I'd take my time and make sure a thing was serious before telling people about it', end quote, I mean that's ALSO a stunt quote (oh the layers) but just pointing out that it's contradictory) starts dating his co-worker who just got out of a huge relationship and is also a famous person with presumably an interest in privacy, and immediately the two of you get to work setting up a big reveal to happen right away (even in a weird fantasy world where any of this is real the possibility that JEFF AZOFF'S WEDDING had the paps present for any other reason than to do EXACTLY what they were told is flat impossible- what pap or celeb outlet can afford to be on Jeff's bad list?!) and then he casually writes her into his speech (a guy who's so anxious and shy about public speaking and what to say that he begs people to write speeches for him and practices endlessly) uh huh, sure Jan. There are so many things about this that are ludicrous, but more to the point, none of the things they're saying hold up to scrutiny any better than this. There just isn't any point in taking them that seriously though; Harry is a closeted artist and, just like the many queer artists that came before him who he repeatedly reminds us are his icons, he both lets us know all day every day in a million ways that he's queer, and also plays the industry game and winkingly gives the press their Straight Guy Harry fodder. You don't have to like it, or indeed anything at all in this world, but people do need to accept that whether they like it or not is neither the point nor anyone (including Harry)'s responsibility to respond to or do anything about.

Like I said I can't cover every detail but! I always have a little space for the absurd: today, our best entrant is the possibility that the whole wedding we saw was a sham– fans ask, was this public spectacle Jeff and Glenne's actual wedding? Listen if anyone would be up for it it would be this crew, and if they did stage it I'm sure they had a good laugh! Suspicion has been cast on Glenne's dress (allegedly an untailored 2018 off the rack number), the small guest list (wouldn't they just wait and have a huge event?), and the fact that they invited paps there at all. It would make the no explanation robe pics EVEN FUNNIER though if you imagine that was for our benefit but left totally unadressed (undressed). ANYWAY Don't Worry Darling filming is back in business and Harry was papped some more today, out for a casual not at all pap walk hike with a work associate and multiple items of his own merch (including an unreleased hoodie design.) On the topic of DWD, sometimes a different perspective can be interesting-- for example considering whether Harry is the point of all this at all? Or is he but a bit player in the real DWD publicity drama, an elaborate and very public dramatic reconciliation between Olivia and her ex husband? Either way, he's neither a clueless dupe, a helpless pawn, or anyone's 'boy toy', so please: can we rein in the hand wringing and pointless Olivia bashing a bit?

Charlie Lightening posted pics from a year ago on the Walls music video set, featuring an intent Louis in the sun (and fashion voter underrated excellent Looks), and Louis commented on Dave Allen's post (“top man!”)-- the famous boxer is offering to help friends through lockdown by facetiming 3or 4 people a day for home workouts, damn, and also aww. That shitty Doncaster secondary school turned out some really sweet dudes, against all odds tbh. With Los Angeles experiencing some of the worst COVID surges we've seen since the beginning of the pandemic, Grammys organizers have elected to postpone the (already limited) ceremony. Originally scheduled for Jan 31 it is now TBA, tentatively for March. Harry's stalker, who menaced him in and near his London home in 2019, is being charged with violating his restraining order by attempting to contact Harry via social media, Global Fund for Women thanked Harry for donating, and HLDaily and other accounts were suspended for posting pap pics, always a risk, but one trick potato Jeff is on the job; HSD is back up and running, cause they can't have a proper stunt season without their most faithful mouthpieces. Heartland 14x10 - Staying the Course review

So lets pretend I’m not a week late to watch the ep but rather... I just waited to watch in its normal time slot... a week later... okay?

Anyways, the finale - here we go!

How cute was the opening, with Amy riding up as Katie and Lyndy skate on the rink? If any of you have a rink like this in your backyard, I am very envious. Emmy and Ruby really love skating and it shows.

Amy rides to the area where Ty initially set up the jumping course, y’know before they could afford proper jumping gear and we’re treated with another flashback. I wonder how long these flashbacks will last if S15 is a go.

Blonde guy, Cooper? stops by and asks if she wants to work with him at the centre. Amy stops by to look at a horse called Challenge (I swear, I’m paying attention lmao), and her and Cooper seems to have a good rapport. Does this mean I want her jumping into another relationship? No, however, it is good nice to see Amy talk to other people besides her family/Caleb.

Cooper ends up losing his funding before he even begins, and Amy wants to help (with Parker!). So at Georgie’s competition, Parker starts to fundraise and Amy accidentally calls out the donor who backs out. However, this results in the donor reinvesting, so good on them. My question is, does this mean that Cooper and Amy will be in each others circles a lot more next season? I’m all for them being friends, but i’m not entirely sure I want Amy jumping back into another relationship so soon. More friends and exploring more opportunities would be nice though. 

It’s nice to see Amy (6 months later) jumping the course with Shadow because I think this shows real growth and acceptance/moving on from Amy over Ty’s death. Something, that has been a season and change and probably something that may still come up over the years but nevertheless still nice to see she’s slowly healing.

Lou and Mitch is continuing to plan their wedding and everyone they invited said yes... except Peter said no. Now now, Lou, what did you expect? For your ex to be happy to come see you get married to another guy? I know you guys have a good co-parenting relationship but still, wouldn’t that be a lil awks? How does she slip and call Peter her husband? Something tells me this won’t bode well for Lou & Mitch. Aidan has a point.. why does she care Peter can’t attend?

Lou “dreaming” about her life with Peter and Lou via flashbacks, is also not a good sign. Speaking of which, if this wedding doesn’t happen, I will be sad that we missed the chance to see Caleb and Cass at date night. Here’s to more C/C next season (and in particular Cass in person please!)

Peter (with a moustache) facetimes Lou IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT and says he can’t attend because he can’t just sit there and watch her go off into a new life.... which fair??!? I would not be able to attend my ex-husbands wedding - but then he says he still has feelings for her, something none of us saw coming /s.

So my question is, if we were going to end up with this breakup, why even have them get back together? It could have been explained that they just didn’t work out vs put us through this, but hey, to each their own. I guess they were finally honest about what he wanted. Too bad he didn’t realize it before they had already started wedding planning. It was the right thing to break up if Lou still harbours feelings towards Peter and Mitch wants a family (which Lou can’t provide nor wants) so it only makes sense that they... um, took a break? So they didn’t really break up they just took a break? Is this Rachel and Ross all over again?

Meanwhile, Georgie is practicing for the upcoming competition, when Quinn informs her that a scout for Equestrian Canada will be there. Anyways, not much to say about this but Georgie ends up getting the business card from Equestrian Canada - the road to the Olympics continues!

A side story is Quinn having trouble sleeping after Tim became his roommate and you know what? I can relate. Snoring is hard to sleep with. This leads to Tim crashing back at the dude ranch and meeting Jessica and them having a heart to heart. Jessica was scared that meeting Tim ruined her life changed and Tim just wanted Jessica around. 

The solution? Tim tagging along on Jessica on her photography adventures, and what a great compromise that is. If I am Tim, it sounds amazing. I really like Jessica and Tim together so I am really glad they worked it out and hope it ends better than his other relationships.

A few end notes:

* I’m surprised that Aidan hasn’t had a bigger role in this season, besides being Lou’s sidekick in the mayoral office... maybe next season we’ll see more of him?

* I know Georgie (Alisha) was not in every episode but I didn’t miss her when she wasn’t in like I missed Ty. I think this is because her explanation for being away was a lot more sound, realistic and practical. To me, in my head, her being away to focus on jumping (especially since school is online) just made sense, vs for example Ty being away in MONGOLIA.  Do I wish we got to see Georgie grieve more over Ty and get her perspective between the tiny one we got when she first came back after Florida? Absolutely, but maybe we will see more of that next season. It has, of course been a year and change so its possible we missed it all or only getting muted reactions.

* Lou is still using an older iPhone model. Think it’s time for an upgrade?

* The flashbacks made me realize how much the cast has grown up. Rewatching older Heartland episodes and seeing the glow up is amazing.

my brain is mush atm and can’t remember anything past the last few months anyway so here is the director’s commentary for my west wing au, “suddenly I don't remember the rules”

so last summer/fall ish I was reading some other fic, I don’t remember which at all, that reminded me of a line from the last season when danny and cj finally get together where he says, “so if I’m going to jump off the cliff, and you’re going to get pushed off the cliff, why don’t we both hold hands on the way down?” which 1) I’ve always thought was sweet (I copied that out from memory lol) and 2) felt very appropriate for these two. and so, when I was rewatching while in london bc I missed dc, I started writing this au and along the way found actually, y’know, plot.

eventually what I really wanted to do was fix cj’s storyline from the first season. she’s one of my favorite tv characters, always has been, and there’s a lot of really interesting pieces in that first season but they’re kind of haphazard and inconsistent. I rearranged the order of events somewhat to straighten out that recurrent issue of her being kept out of the loop and the frustration of that. there’s an undercurrent of her feeling alienated from the rest of the staff and so turning to the press—to danny, really—as her ally, which I think is more interesting than just everyone worrying about cj being too close to him for flirty reasons.

in a way I accidentally think I made it more serious, but I think that’s partially by virtue of making it gay; same with the privacy stuff, which was really my favorite part of this, being able to tie it back into the episode and make it something more. it’s not just their jobs in the way, it’s the publicity of those jobs (there’s an oblique reference to another frustrating cj ep, “enemies foreign and domestic”) and the world they live in. there’s a sort of natural affinity that brings them together already, beneath the aforementioned alienation from the staff.

every place in it is real: the supreme court, obviously, and the white house. the inner layout is pretty accurate—I think I might have invented a staircase?—and the palm room before the colonnade to the west wing really is used as an overflow coat storage during events. it’s also ugly as shit, it’s got this trellis thing on the wall, which is why I turned the lights off for that scene lmao, I couldn’t picture it seriously otherwise. also real are:

the petco richie goes to, which is where all my pet fish growing up were from

the bar in dupont circle near a comedy club, although I made up the interior

same with eddie’s apartment, which I’ve been imagining around 21st and o which is both a bunch of gorgeous buildings and coincidentally adheres to the later seasons where they say that cj’s apartment is near that exact stretch of rock creek park

richie’s too, where a friend of mine lives in falls church. I put him in the sticks bc danny is supposedly just back from 

both skating rinks mentioned, in the nga sculpture garden and at the reston town center (which was definitely there in the late 90s/early 2000s and I can confirm with pictures of me as a kid there lol)

oh, speaking of places, I fixed the logistics of the scene where josh talks to danny outside oeob about goldfish, which has always bugged me. why is danny even walking that direction? he’s the reporter for the washington post, he can’t get a parking spot in the ellipse? does he park at the wapo building across the street? then why is isn’t he coming out of the west wing entrance on pennsylvania? so I came up with a convoluted answer that he doesn’t live in the district actual bc he sublet his place while doing a little book tour for the book. that danny. wrote. about. the president. BOOM (that never made the cut but still exists in my head)

and I fixed the plot hole in season 2 where cj was sick “last” thanksgiving but there’s no mention of it in this episode, which aired the day before thanksgiving 1999 (my second birthday!) and is right before the christmas episode so there’s nowhere else to hide. plus I like to give eddie my birthday anyway bc even though astrology is fake it’s important to me that some characters with november birthdays are sagittariuses. we’re not all scorpios, you bastards. also someone has to share the burden of having a birthday that occasionally falls on thanksgiving

outside of the episode in question I stole soooo many west wing lines for this fic, and other references that I sort of just scrambled all together. eddie’s list of reasons they shouldn’t be together is from “in excelsis deo”; the bit about the sign and all the comm staff liking richie (as well as being an opportune ch 2 ref), the ice skating, and “fourth... shut up” are from “enemies”; “it’s hard to believe you’re not married” / “many have tried” etc is actually joey lucas and josh in “lies, damn lies, and statistics”; eddie’s car is from “the black vera wang” (rip mark harmon); a lot of eddie’s speech in the apartment is from “he shall from time to time...” but also “inauguration.” oh, and of course! josh lyman you have the cutest butt in professional politics! that’s joey again, from “bartlet’s third state of the union,” bc this is a joey lucas stan blog

I also gave stan the spaldeens and richie the stupid suspenders bc I think they fit weirdly well, and I did the “okay” thing bc I think it’s cute and it’s one of my favorite things in the danny and cj romance canon. respecting boundaries is sexy! and you know what else is sexy? being good at your job. and THAT’S what this fic is all about.

ok so we finished the zoldyck arc and uhhhh gotta say we werent expecting like any of that to happen lol 

ok ill back up so we start w/killuas mom (i dont think we ever heard her name) confronting gon & co....and canary (i lov her) is not dead which i assumed but thank goodness. 

zoldyck mom was totally using nen. also she is off her rocker gotta say. tho that visor is super cool, albeit confusing - is it connected to a bunch of security cameras or something? how does she see all that shit? 

granpa is wild. his tunic thing that says ‘one kill a day’ or w/e is kinda hilarious, it reminds me of the ‘apple a day keeps the dr away’ saying...a murder a day keeps the....idk away????

i love that killua makes it abundantly clear that he couldve like escaped at any time lol. also tho why didnt he just escape....baby boy just leave

also i see now where killua got his hair and also his catboy tendencies. the zoldyck catboy genes seem to trace back to zoldyck dad, who has kinda scary cat eyes 

also im guessing that the dad is the blood zoldyck and the mom is the one who married in. they sure seem to put a lot of emphasis on like, family legacy or w/e, but the two parents certainty go abt it in different ways 

the whole convo b/w killua and his dad was wild, it totally didnt go where i was expecting it to. his dad was weirdly chill while also being super intense? 

killua happily telling stories abt gon was so sweet....baby boy baby 

and his dad telling him ‘never betray your friends’ was rlly interesting...i wonder what his reasons were for saying that 

cause then he tells killua he can leave, and killua does, but then dad zoldyck tells mom zoldyck (i rlly need to find out their names) that he thinks killua will come back on his own time....inch resting 

i wonder if dad zoldyck made killua promise that bc he was trying to set killua up for failure - as in, he tells killua to never betray his friends, thinking that killua inevitably will & be distraught abt it, and then turn back to the zoldyck family when this happens. idk

also its interesting to me that zoldyck dad wants killua to lead the family someday. like, illumi is right there, hes the oldest and clearly dedicated to being an evil assassin, and he seems p good at it...i wonder why killua is the favorite....the grandpa (i think) did say that killua is Special(tm) which...yes he is a special baby boy i love him. i wanna see more zoldyck family flashbacks/interactions so we can see what led them to this point

i doubt this is the last weve seen of the zoldyck family. i mean we havent even met 3 of them, and we barely saw the ones we did meet...idk when theyll come back but i suspect theyll be making some big money moves later on and fucking shit up somehow 

i think maybe illumi or someone will like, spy on killua sometimes to keep track of him. or theyll track him by other means

Again fandom and, above all shippers (sorry shippers but this is true) ate it, and continued watching the show, supporting the idea that Castiel not being there was great. What a win right? How did THAT go for Cas and Misha? And I’m just talking about ONE story arc, don’t make me talk about how they said that Cas’ hair was the proof of how he was “cured of his depression U.U”. So.much.bullshit! But again fandom ate it and asked for more. 

The role of Cas in season 15 and beyond the end: everyone, except dabb, J2 and bobo, is going to be at fault for two things: destiel not going canon, and the lack of Castiel in the last season. These metas are capable of anything to get a win, no matter what, no matter if they are right or not. In fact some of them are saying that destiel is already canon, and that people not seeing it are idiots that don’t get the narrative!, that can’t understand canon, that are too bitter to see how great bobo queer coded destiel because big bad Pedowitz didn’t want it to happen!. We are going to enter the twilight zone territory after spn ends, it’s not going to be pretty, but they are NOT going to give up either. This is denial to the max, and in the process the gaslighting of fandom is going to get bigger than ever. The next months are going to get hard to pass, and they are going to be the center of the fandom. And speaking about fandom…

Fandom/shippers and the meta crumbs eating: sorry not sorry, but fandom, like I said played a HUGE part in giving these metas the space to thrive and to push their idiotic discourse everywhere. To say now “not all shippers” is a little dumb, because the majority of destiel shippers that saw the writing on the wall and what these metas were all about, either left fandom, jumped ships, or are not in denial anymore. The ones who remain, yeah I can point out some good peeps, but almost all of destiel shippers ate and eat the crumbs dabb, bobo and the metas give them. And, imo, this is in part, why Cas was put aside with an almost non-existent story line. They tried SO HARD to fire Misha, to push him aside, to kill Cas, to bury him, but in the end he is so fucking popular that even though they tried to replace him with a younger look-alike, they had to bring him back for season 13. BUT they took the opportunity, and they almost made him disappear form core story line (looking at you ep 300). Dabb and co. know they can’t just fire Misha, but if fandom is bent on keep eating the destiel crumbs, to the point of being ok with not having him on screen, then… it’s a win-win situation for them. On one hand they keep creating drama to bait shippers (you’re dead to me), while killing destiel, while sidelining Castiel. What a great and amazing thing fandom achieved! *clapping* And I KNOW, I know people want to believe, but they just put destiel first, and fuck everything else including Castiel and Misha. 

Again sorry not sorry for saying all of this, I know some of you LOVE Cas deeply. but I have seen and read how they prefer destiel to go canon above everything else. People can’t separate Cas from Dean. Dean? oh! he can say Cas is dead to him, he can fuck 43 waitresses in a season, but Cas? Cas has to be always there for him, even if he is dead. And that’s the thing right? even if Cas is dead, destiel becomes canon because he lives forever in Dean’s memories. And that’s the bs the metas are going to pull if it comes to that, and that is going to be accepted by fandom, but especially shippers. Like I always say: fandom gets mad in hiatus, keeps eating the crumbs and clapping when the show comes back. 

It is what it is. I’m just glad af that this is the final season.

2. Who is the most insecure and what makes them feel better?

God, BOTH of them have very, very valid reasons to be concerned. Wash obviously is still hurt by Mira’s betrayal, and that isn’t going to go away easily even after their reconciliation. I can see her looking at Mira just casually doing something and wondering “What’s your game here?” And on Mira’s end, I can see her still feeling like Wash is going to choose Taylor/her job/etc. over her. Because of past experience. And, even postcanon, there’s the question of “Would she have made the decisions she had if Taylor HADN’T gone cuckoobananas?”

And then they’ll have that little reminder of their life together, Sienna or Leah will ask for help coloring something in, Wash will come up from behind and hug her, they’ll see each other giving orders and co-ruling the colony like a BOSS and just have that moment of “Okay, this is NOW.” It’s not going to be an EASY process, but it’s one that they are going to work through over time. 

4. Who can’t keep their hands to themselves?

Wash. I’m not even going to elaborate just...Wash. 

12. What first changes when it starts getting serious?

The GUILT starts to set in for Mira. For Wash, she starts to really feel HOPE for the first time. She’s spent a lot of time trailing behind Taylor, wanting to believe in the new world he’s promised, but for the first time, she has that possibility right in front of her. And then we all know what happens, goodbye youthful idealism. 

18. When they fight, how do they make up?

By not talking to one another for years but occasionally meeting up for bondage-y reasons, then bonding over a shared enemy. 

It’s funny because in a potentially postcanon world, I actually don’t see them fighting that often, given that so many of their current problems are related more or less exclusively to being on opposite sides, a few issues when it comes to the integration process for the Sixers aside. But, when they do, I think that they can both be pretty brutal, usually Wash is the first one to reach out, and it usually takes Mira a little further to come along. (MIRA? HOLDING A GRUDGE? NOT TRUSTING SOMEONE?) But, eventually, they do work it out, and Mira in particular can’t really resist Wash when she’s in the “Please look at me” stage. Neither of them would ever, EVER admit it in the crossover, but she’s at Peyrol levels of being whipped. 

19. Where do they go on their first date?

See 22. Alternatively, they went to Boylan’s. Because of course. They went. To Boylan’s. It’s not like there are that many options available. Which means that Boylan ALSO knows about the two of them dating. It’s why his hair’s so big; it’s full of secrets. 

20. Where do they go on holiday?

Honestly, I know that the holiday options are TN are limited, but I love the thought of the two of them lying on a beach while their kids play in the waves, the two of them working on building a sandcastle together. A massive prehistoric shark comes near Sienna and Wash casually snipes it. (Mira finds herself oddly turned on by it.) You know. Everything that you’d expect.

 At some point, Wash’s comm device goes off. It’s Jim. They need her at the colony, something’s going horribly wrong. She turns it off. 

22. Where does their first kiss happen?

I’m probably going to roll with the Paradise Lost canon and say that Wash took Mira OTG like a fucking teenager, Bullshit Happened because it’s TN, they had to build a fire, there were Very Intimate Conversations about Wash and Mira and the future, and then they kissed. And then at some point in the night, a carno tried to attack Mira and, without a second thought, Wash took it down. Romantically. She would always wonder whether that was a good idea, after the fact. Whether, if she knew what she would later know, if she would have let it. Privately, she knows that she wouldn’t have. 

23. Where is their favourite place to be together? 

Command Center. For more reasons than one and for more definitions of the term “together.” 

26. Why do they need to have a serious chat?

THESE TWO? NEED A SERIOUS CHAT? I CANNOT. IMAGINE. WHY. THEY WOULD. NEED. A SERIOUS. C H A T . 

To begin with, the whole “You lied to me for months at LEAST and made me believe you didn’t love me when it was over” thing. And the whole “You support an actual military dictator who fucking KILLED SOMEONE and there’s no way that I can believe that you didn’t know” thing. And the whole “I have no idea why you’re even doing this - what do you mean ‘your daughter needs it’ WHAT DAUGHTER?” thing. And the whole “You could do so much better than being brushed aside for Taylor’s new boytoy, let me express this in a nonviolent, healthy way” thing. And...

Basically, this is why they should have spent that whole ep tied to one another instead of Taylor and Mira. 

27. Why do their friends get annoyed with them?

Elizabeth (understandably) does NOT trust Mira, and I don’t think she really understands the process that the two of them are going through even though she’s fundamentally enough a compassionate person that she’s obviously going to push for it. It just...takes a little while. 

28. Why do they get jealous?

I think that Mira’s jealous of Taylor, but it’s not a ROMANTIC kind of jealousy. I don’t think that she thinks that he and Wash are banging; she KNOWS Wash too well for that one. And she isn’t into DILFs. But that doesn’t change the fact that Wash has still chosen Taylor over her, and that STINGS. If the two of them actually were banging...it wouldn’t really impact that one way or another. What matters is who Wash is going to stand by at the end of the day, and unfortunately...it isn’t Mira. And on one hand, Mira always KNEW this would be the case, especially since Wash has history with Taylor, but on the other hand...she really, really wishes that it wasn’t. 

29. Why do they fall a little bit more in love?

The little moments of vulnerability. For two people who tend to be so good at putting on fronts, especially in Mira’s case (Wash HAS them, but she’s better at pretending that There’s Nothing Wrong as opposed to pretending that she doesn’t have any emotions at all), whenever they have those moments, it’s a big OH. Because they wouldn’t do that for ANYONE else, and they both realize it. Wash personally loves to try to (non creepily) wake up before Mira and watch her sleep for that reason alone, because she’s so UNGUARDED then.

30. Why does it work (or not work) between them? 

At the end of the day, they’re both highly competent and mission oriented people. When they’re not at each other’s throats, they work on the same wavelength, and they both have a HUGE amount of respect for one another’s abilities and can’t stand to see them wasted on their respective sides. They also both functionally WORK in a good cop/bad cop scenario, with Wash inspiring loyalty and Mira (generally) inspiring fear in the people under their respective commands. IF circumstances had been different, they would have been damn effective co-leaders of Terra Nova. They’re really one of those cases where there’s nothing in their personalities that is really keeping them apart; it’s all in the circumstances, and if the circumstances changed....

okaaay so i was bored and wanted to procrastinate so i thought why not??? keep in mind that this list isn’t exhaustive and there are probably more recs out there but here are just some of my favorites + why i would rec them!! a lot of the recs are on the popular side of things too but i also tried putting in groups that not everyone know of / listen to already ( i put the more popular groups down the bottom btw ).

day6: day6!!!! day6!!! i got into them like over a year after their debut lmao so i was a lil late but damn am i glad that i started listening to them?? they’re more krock than kpop probably but honestly....pls listen to day6.... a lot of people have been saying that some of their songs feel like anime intros too and i would agree?? like some of their songs would fit v v well into shonen anime intros tbh esp probs like sports anime? ANYWAY, they have a variety of songs like they have different sounds for some of their things but i think they still have a v distinctive day6 feel it’s just a matter of preference which sort of sound you like better? honestly, i would rec all their songs but i think for the purpose of this list my rec for them would be letting go (놓아 놓아 놓아). even without context the music video feels so Raw and Deep too imo but...with context lmao they left a keyboard untouched whenever there are scenes of them playing as a band and that’s bc one of their members left and that always makes me emotional. also, congratulations was their debut and you were beautiful is a continuation of that mv wise which i think is cool af. personal rec though? both tracks from the every day6 march ( how can i say is the title track for that one ). 

dreamcatcher: ok so as i write this they’ve only debuted like a couple of months ago but goddamn i love their concept. here’s a fun fact: they debuted on friday the 13th with a song and mv bearing a horror concept which is??? sick af??? their debut mv chase me basically is about the girls as ghosts haunting this place and it is SO COOL. ofc tho, trigger warning for horror!! i believe that the mv is part of the trilogy, and here is the second part of it called good night. the chase me mv i think is the BEST but i really really love good night as a song too. also !! they have rock sounds which is really cool!! ( also, pls listen to yoohyeon, sua and siyeon covering winner’s really really. )

laboum: MY GIRLS WHO DESERVE SO MUCH. i....honestly don’t even know what to rec for this list just bc i like everything they’ve done?? some i do like more than others though, but i think it also kind of depends on your taste and what you like?? if you like kinda like that cute concept then i would def recommend shooting love?? honestly, i myself am kind of like...picky about cute ish concepts just bc a lot of them seem to blur together but i really like shooting love?? it’s such a fun mv and is such a bop. if you’re here for something slower, though, give fresh adventure a listen. and pls support their latest mv ( as i write this ) hwi hwi which is such a catchy song i’m crying.

loona: they’re doing this thing where they’re releasing info about a member every month this year and they’re letting their members come up with a debut song and mv one by one until all their members are out to public. i think it’s a really cool concept too and they seem really really promising. i would recommend watching each of their individual debut mvs ( hyunjin’s around you is my favorite, but watch them all tbh ) and i still can’t get over how much i love their mv ( not featuring all their members tho as not everyone is “released” yet ) love & live.

pentagon: i....love them??? HONESTLY i have no idea what it is about them that makes me love them so much?? sometimes i’m like pls @ them but i really love them and i think their debut was really Solid too?? it’s an mv called gorilla and it just....really impressed me for a debut mv?? their second title track is called can you feel it and they also they have a super cute mv called pretty pretty lmaooo. in their second ep though ( five senses, with can you feel it as title track ) i really like the song engine!! if you like slower and chiller songs, give beautiful a listen too. the mv isn’t like a Spectacular concept or anything but i just love these boys and how much of cute losers they are.

kard: as i’m writing this they have currently not yet debuted but !! they released three project singles that are all such BOPS HONESTLY. kard is a coed kpop group with some really cool sounds. i’m just gonna list all three project singles here because i def think you should listen to all of them esp bc they’re kind of a trilogy song wise?? their first one is oh nana, followed by don’t recall ( a personal fave ) and their most recent one is called rumor. there are v interesting fan theories about the mvs too, especially for don’t recall.

triple h: they’re a project unit featuring hyuna and pentagon’s hui & e’dawn and their debut is!! really something!! their debut mv is called 365 fresh and holy fuuuck. trigger warning for blood, bruises, violence, murder and suicide, though, so please keep that in mind if you plan on watching. if not, the song in itself is such a Fresh song. i love the entire vibe of their entire 199x ep too.

vixx: kings of dance and vocals, ngl. i swear that they just get better and better and better and every time they have a comeback ever since like chained up they just get even fucking better somehow??? fantasy i really really love too and for the longest time it was my favorite song of theirs but then they recently dropped shangri la which is honestly....quite Something Else. i have admittedly not listened to many of their non title tracks either but i really like black out!!

f(x): i’ll be honest and say that i haven’t really listened to much of f(x) other than their 4 walls era but i love that era?? i love the mv to 4 walls too and i would 10/10 rec it. though honestly pls give the entire album a listen and personally, my favorite song from the album is deja vu.

blackpink: goddamn these girls got popular real quick. honestly one of my fave girl groups though I LOVE THEM SO MUCH and though boombayah i think is officially their debut mv whistle is honestly such a bop and also has a bomb ass music video?? their other two mvs playing with fire and stay are also sick af i just really love them. they got the #aesthetic.

seventeen: i’m just gonna keep this short bc i don’t think i know nearly enough about svt just yet but mansae is suuuch a fun mv imo as a whole group that’s their best mv just because it was really fun?? the song is super catchy too. but give their hip hop unit’s check in a listen too bc it’s Iconic tbh.

bts: they honestly deserve the hype they get?? so much?? you’ve most likely already heard about them but if you’re not into them yet or have yet to listen to a song and don’t know where to start my number one rec is blood, sweat and tears — which is also what got me into them — ( and here’s the japanese ver but keep in mind there are triggers for blood, murder & allusions to drugs, i like to think that the japanese ver is an alternate universe/continuation of the korean one and there are lots of theories on this that you can read up ). althouuugh bst especially the mv would set your standards very high i think?? but honestly....that’s a Must Watch if ur getting into bts. i know that it’s already v popular but it really really deserves the attention it gets imo. BUT the entire wings era is worth listening to and also pls listen to all their solos in the wings album ( my personal favorite is rap monster’s reflection ).

red velvet: probably another name that pops up a lot too and they have a really interesting concept tbh?? they have like this duality where red is like a more playful and fun concept and velvet is more classy and elegant in a way?? dumb dumb is a really fun example of the red concept and be natural for velvet!! russian roulette seems like a hit or miss for people too but i think the song is really cute!!

exo: again, who hasn’t heard of them?? monster was a Hit and deservingly so too. i honestly really really love the entire lotto / ex’act album too and i especially really like can’t bring me down from the album. but honestly, as much as how big of a hit monster ( and some of their other mvs like overdose and call me baby, amongst many others are huge hits too ) was, i think my favorite mv they did was sing for you. boy that made me feel things?? many fans speculate that the mv was kind of a tribute to kris, luhan and tao ( three members who left ) too and that made me even more !!! about it. ALSO ALSO they have a sub unit called exo cbx and i just rec everything cbx does tbh but before they became an official sub unit they did this song as an ost for a kdrama and i LOVE it so much it’s called for you.

got7: another really popular group so imma try not talk too much about them but honestly...i think just right is p much an insight into got7′s personality LMAO aka adorable losers. everyone loves all three of their flight log trilogy eras too but my favorite is the flight log: turbulence era. hard carry is a masterpiece that i keep on coming back to and skyway is my other favorite song on the album, followed by boom x3.

bigbang: i’m not even gonna get into this one because chances are you’ve heard fantastic baby or bang bang bang. listen to anything in their made album, basically. but i’m just gonna leave last dance here it was a Masterpiece.

2ne1: a disbanded group, which is really sad lmao. you’ve probably heard i am the best too but i just wanna rec come back home and falling in love. 2ne1 was what got me into kpop in the first place too and i love them.

soloists: i’m too lazy to link all the mvs and all but look into seo inguk, kim chungha, lim kim, ailee, lee hi, park jimin ( of 15& ), amber liu, kisum, dean, heize and i’m probably missing a lot of people.

What a good week this turned out to be.

And damn, does being a fan feel like suffering.

I’m feeling somewhat sad.

So, this Friday it was announced that Satou Takuya is leaving his spot as MC in the AbemaTV program “Seiyuu to yo Asobi” (literally, this week’s program was his “graduation”). and the one to replace him (and would be co-hosting with Seki Tomokazu) is no one other than Kimura Subaru.

Look, I’m not saying that “I’m sad” basically for this (although, I am for very banal reasons, but that’s just me)... but yes, I’m a bit, yes.

For one, Suba’s chemistry with his mentor/senpai is very worth to watch (I saw that one episode from May that I talked a couple of months ago), especially considering their relationship goes WAY back to 2005 (2nd gen Suneo and Gian; Subaru often refers to him as “shishou”, or “mentor”, and they are in the same agency). They are INCREDIBLY silly.

And while my words from months back resound in my mind, I’m not well prepared for a facet that has been mostly “tamed” in other programs where Suba has been MC (be it for radio or live streamings)... because when Seki is around... you know how that tone may rise or break, lmao (case in point that episode in particular).

I’m a bit more sad from my own part, like, I sadly found out not all Asobi program (and I mean ALL, counting the other daily-hosted programs) is uploaded in bi*lib*ili, and AbemaTV player doesn’t work for me (I use Chrome, so it keeps “loading...” and I’m not eager to get a VPN, if you get my drift) to catch the thing “free” before going full paid. and this is one of those times I truly suffer as a fan :’D (I was lucky enough for watching those S*omak*imi eps before they went down... but the thing is on DVD anyways, so no much has been lost... except my patience :P and probably my money *I haven’t bought the DVD, because priorities*).

(I’m particularly waiting to watch the last program with Satou, but... either it hasn’t been uploaded there yet or probably wouldn’t be).

Look, I’m pretty happy for Suba himself, in an opportunity like this? I mean, this year has been truly fantastic for him ever since Hy*pMic was released, and his troupe’s stage play from Spring was HUGELY successful. But, maybe I’m sad for way too selfish reasons. Sad, I say, or perhaps more melancholic, I guess. And tbh, I haven’t felt this like... this, before, and I haven’t been able to keep behind my biases as I have wanted. 

I curse myself being overseas, for starters, lmao. 

Second, because I’m too naive. Like, one of my dreams, as silly and absurd it is, is meeting him (and this is one of those things where I would break down and cry - thing that I never expected to think but HERE WE ARE- in his presence). YES, still possible, but let me tell you that this has been a dream for quite a while now -three years-, and things were different when I set this on my head. He deserves that popularity, and all that. He is truly an underrated talented seiyuu that deserves more leading roles (oh, and he is truly talented in other departments). And he is entirely charismatic. I mean, why not dreaming of meeting him in some way or another?

But the venues or ways are getting difficult to do so. And it’s frustrating (and overwhelming) to me. I do stand and say I am supporting him, and I’m really trying? And heck, I was happy and ecstatic when he noticed my birthday fanart present? It’s just... I don’t know, I really want to say how happy I am as a fan and all that to him in person (and hug him, ofc).

tl;dr because I went off-topic but very personal in the last 4-5 pargraphs - I really hope there were other ways to watch these Asobi programs. MAYBE with Suba’s popularity derived from H*ypM*ic, they would be *cough* uploaded? BUT, MAN, I am kinda fearing how that “tone” breaks down with Seki, lmao.
