Going to try again! I failed this year due to drama in my life but 2025 will be better. I present my challenge of coding everyday for a year! Even if it's a couple of minutes and it's something simple it counts!

Today on 12/27/2024 I start with a .Net Maui project where I make a therapy app! It will interface with your therapist so therapy appointments focus more on solutions rather than recapping everything and it takes up 30/45 minutes

Does anyone else have dreams about coding? Like I figure out my real world coding problems in my sleep, it's weird.

Genuinely wondering who would be interested if I started doing coding how to's I know a variety of languages such as Python, C#, C++, Java, JavaScript/Typescript, SQL, and HTML/CSS. My specialties are Python and C#

Once again had dreams about programming. This time it was about my real life project and some of my "solutions" are questionable.

Genuinely feeling so much pain from feeling like I don't belong anywhere and no one will ever be able to connect to me. Being not only neurodivergent but gifted, I feel like the world isn't made for me. I feel like an alien crashed on a strange planet.

My family treats me like a black sheep so much because I approach things differently than them, and I am a 'buzz kill' because my hobbies include coding, writing, watching documentaries, reading, and learning new things. They just watch American football, smoke weed, and make low effort jokes.

I'm expected to care for my mom giving up my life for her. I'm 30 and I am so lonely because I'm stuck here. My brothers can do what they want and have their families but I'm expected to put my life on hold because I'm smart and make a lot of money.

I don't have a lot of friends I just have really just 1 the others barely talk to me. My boyfriend doesn't talk to me much which makes me feel worse.

Today my family came over to see my mom definitely not me. I tried to interact with them and they totally ignore me. Then I got mad and announced my secret that I'm getting ready to move away from everyone at the end of this year. After announcing that, I'm treated like a villain.

I can't deal with just how lonely I am and I'm super depressed and I walk the edge of keeping on going or killing myself but I'm too afraid of death to actually go beyond self harm. I feel so damned unhappy a lot.

Sorry I needed to get it all out. I'm literally just drowning in all of this.

Day 3 of coding for a year. I'm a bit late posting this, because I passed out 😅

Last night I worked on the backend of getting the tasks implemented and my husband was getting notifications to work correctly. We had some snags with notifications since we've never done that before (I'm thankful for friends and videos online)

Today I'll be hooking up the tasks with front end work using xaml and testing.

Why does coding require a ritual for me? I need caffeine, a snack, and music. Right now it's a caramel macchiato, bagel, and Arctic Monkeys. Does anyone else do this? If so what's your current set up?

Days 110 to 118 of coding everyday for a year and I've gotten so much done!

I finish both of my finals the C++ and the C#. The C++ final is an adventure game and it wasn't too challenging to make honestly I had fun with it. The C# project was also fun because I got to play with microcharts when creating the statistics page to display collected data! I plan to make the C++ game more fun honestly because I can't just let it die from here. I am going to make the Android and iOS build better on the C# project. I'm really proud of myself today :)

My next adventures will be brushing up on JavaScript since I'm severely out of practice and using what I know to make my portfolio website using Blazor!

Decided to start my year with a personal challenge of coding something everyday for the whole year, and at the end of the year I'll have a reflection on my journey and what I've learned.

Today on day 1 I am working on a task management application in .Net Maui. This project will be for my personal use since I'm making it the exact way I want to make a task app vs what I've gotten before through Google Play.

So far I will say I'm enjoying working with C# 12 and .Net 8. Maui has been enjoyable so far despite me not being 100% comfortable with front end work. I'm working on the settings page currently and I'll be adding theme settings for the application.

I am not dead just severely busy! Days 74-109. I have so much to talk about this time!

So at work (Can't show that due to NDA) I've been bug chasing, and ultimately having to restructure many classes and methods to make one function work as intended.

Then for my C# final I'm still working on my .Net Maui project I finished the journals implementation, and added the event reporting function. I added the events to the journal entry for the day. If there are no entries yet it makes one. I am going to be using the library of microcharts that were used in xamarin (before Xamarin got depreciated into .Net Maui) now it can be used for .Net Maui. I'll be capturing data gathered in the journals to display on graphs to track progress in sleep disorders. At a later time I'll be getting it set up to grab information from sleep tracking apps on mobile.

In C++ my final is to make a game. I am making an adventure game where you can explore a village. It has lore, Easter eggs, and fun imagery (it's a console game unfortunately can't do Unreal). I have to change the code a bit but it has been fun to code!

I might have a contract role coming up for another game studio, so that's exciting.

My plans for the next few days is to get some functionality on the statistics tab in my Maui app, and get my C++ project more put together. At work I'm waiting on the senior dev to plan out how to fix the massive problem we have.

Day 7 of coding everyday for a year! It's kind of a late night this time lol.

My husband and I worked hard at it today! I added the task page functionality and UI and my husband helped me with things I didn't fully know how to do. It's great being married to senior dev lol

Tomorrow we are adding subtasks to the add/edit task functionality, and more notification work!
