Day 7 of coding everyday for a year! It's kind of a late night this time lol.

My husband and I worked hard at it today! I added the task page functionality and UI and my husband helped me with things I didn't fully know how to do. It's great being married to senior dev lol

Tomorrow we are adding subtasks to the add/edit task functionality, and more notification work!

SILVERGIFTING??! so fucking creative. and then over on the lotr side we have samfro, farawyn, gigolas, arawen, and other names that are essentially a mash of their names together. even the hobbit fandom is more creative- BAGGINSHIELD?? at least we switched it up and put their last names together. let’s catch up guys oh my god

ok i’m not actually suggesting to change them. it’s just funny how every other section of the fandom has cool names. and then we have. gigolas.

Gonna start making another DPXDC writing challenge where I’ll make a bingo card generation that contains super popular tropes in the fandom.

The goal is to not write said tropes. Bingo of tropes to avoid and even more of a bonus if you do a blackout board on the tropes you didn’t do.

I'm realizing I have a lot of mlm/wlw best friend duos in OCs....

#my characters #she is talking to her best friends crush who has a crush on her best friend and the crush is not catching on #that she means haha you stand a chance just talk to him haha its killing me to hear him complain how HE doesnt stand a chance #uh her name is colette and she is a dream warden #which is basically another dimension where dreams and nightmares are in uhhh #something similar to a jail cell kind of???? like the wardens can see the dreams when someone is having them #and they patrol the path around the cells to make sure nightmares stay in check #they also cannot die and are just kind of ... there until they want to retire #her and her partner (best friend) have been patrolling for a long while together #and they interact with four other wardens #one pair of wardens is two women and one of those is colettes gf #then the other two wardens are a pair of guys #and recently (like over a century lol) one of the guys retired and was replaced by another guy #and the new guy is the target of the crush doki doki #colette and marcus (the best friend partner guy) were p shocked the other guy retired but marcus is like i lost a friend and gained a crush #but as said before in these tags they cant die so if a nightmare attacks them and they are injured they just recover #but some injuries are more extreme and require a sub warden during that recovery #unrelated is it just me and my computer screen and bad eyesight or does my art show up really pixelated for people on tumblr?#it looks smoother in my art program and i dont always go back to look at my art on pc and i just did and it looks fuzzy and low quality #it looks fine on my phone though when i scroll ? bu t ?????

gonna say that I'm not against europeans/4cc/worlds having a minimum score per se, HOWEVER I do think the minimum should be TES+PCS combined so it's more fair to the skaters who maybe don't have huge jumps but who routinely score level 4 in spins and steps and thus gain high PCS

like it could be something like 60-65 for men, 55-60 for women and pairs, and around 60 for ice dance for short program, for example

because as I've said plenty of times, last I checked this sport was still figure skating, not figure jumping

I've been giving some thought to "what is the best way for a person in 2024 to get into/get back into Sound Horizon" as I reconnect with it myself (the more I do so the more I realize how massively and almost ridiculously influential it was to what i like in storytelling...)

I'd like to post more about some options now and then. Lately I've enjoyed these Youtube uploads by QueenoftheHorizon of the album Elysion, which are bundled with not only translations but tons of additional notes and information.

Elysion is, like certain others of Sound Horizon's albums, a series of interconnected stories with tragic thematic elements in common and a general framing device in the form of one story that connects them; in this case the framing story is that of a father and daughter -- an assassin and his sickly albino child El, both of whom pass away in the events of the first song. The child hopes they will somehow reunite someday in Paradise. After death, the father's soul begins to wander, seeking a person conceptualized as 'Elys' (representing the longing for his lost daughter), and we see the tragic stories of various other girls that his soul perceives, wondering if they are the one he seeks...

Elysion was probably the first Sound Horizon album I heard (i'm 70% sure a stage show video of "Ark" was my actual intro to Sound Horizon; since it was like 15 years ago and I rapidly watched as much as I could of them in the ensuing hours and days the memory is unclear haha.) This channel and playlist first went up in 2010 so, and thus wouldn't have been around when I first got into Sanhora in idk ~2008, which is a pity, because they're a wonderful entry point for a canon that can be inaccessible to those who speak little or no Japanese -- in addition to the English translations themselves in each video, the uploader has packed the video notes with explanation and analysis of each song's associated story.

If you are interested in "Elysion" as an entry point to Sound Horizon, I highly recommend watching the videos on this playlist and reading both the video descriptions and the pinned comment for each list, for both translations and a wonderfully detailed explanation and further analysis of each story. For example, the one for Ark elaborately lists out not just the events that are likely to have transpired within the song but also alternative explanations to the common fandom interpretation as well as highlights of extra material (ex. a two-chapter special manga release) that support the ambiguity of interpretation.

Also, definitely check both the video notes and the top comment, where the uploader put translator notes. Here are some of the uploader's translation notes for "Baroque" -- they really are amazingly thorough and interesting, and are a can't miss if you are a language learner yourself who wants to connect with and understand the original wording as much as possible:

Elysion also has music videos and stage shows (ex., Ark stage, Stardust stage, El no Rakuen MV. 'Probably-scary doll' warning for that last one-- in fact the use of BJDs in their shows and videos is how I first heard of Sound Horizon lol, they were being discussed on Den of Angels.) This is material that I think is wonderful and, as mentioned, this kind of thing is the way I personally first experienced the tales; anyone who enjoys these uploads will hopefully go on to look them up. However, the stage shows and MVs are targeted at existing fans and often assume the audience already knows the story (or at the very least speaks Japanese!), so for anyone who doesn't speak fluent Japanese and wants to get the meaning of the songs, their plot and theme and characters, this is really an unbeatable way to enjoy the music for the first time.

Day 5 of coding everyday for a year!

I did a lot today! I implemented the UI for the task list including subtasks, and task details. Crossing off a task if IsCompleted is true. Using many types of tasks such as one time, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly. Husband worked on more notification work. I think we will get this done before the weekend is over for sure!

Next things to go is edit/add task, getting notifications working for reminders about tasks, and more testing.
