ok so kotlc, it has many many many flaws. The world building, the characters, etc. but what I hate the most is the fact that if a character isn’t extremely important, they don’t get a description until like 7 books later. For example, Terik (sorry If I spelt his name wrong, love you Terik) was not described in detail. The only thing described was his kind smile and ability. I believe Sophie even said to was too dark to see his hair color? Until book 6 or 7 I thought he had ginger hair but then I randomly read, “he pushed back his sleek brown hair.” And went, “what the hell.” So now, I’ve been wanting to draw him but if I draw him the way I see him I’ll get fans yelling at me because the author forgot a detailed description and I drew him ginger.

sokeefe headcanons!

1) personally, i like the idea of keefe being the more soft one out of the two. like, he’s all bold and big, but the SECOND sophie says ONE sweet thing to him, he just- unravels- he is blush soup. 2) just like- the idea of sophie being the more masc one. i’ve said on pinterest that she’d look killer in a tux with a corset, and she so would, and she’d probably love it too, little punk baby that she is. 3, going along with 2) keefe is fem. he paints his nails, ro teaches him to do eyeliner, sometimes he wears skirts. 4) ro also taught keefe to braid, so sometimes he and sophie will vibing, and he’ll just braid small strand of her hair, and vice versa (see: hiccup and astrid, how to train your dragon 2) 5) keefe bakes. sophie tries, but is really REALLY bad at it. she is, however, very adept at making pasta, which both she and keefe love. because who doesn’t love some good pasta. 6) they paint each others nails while listening to a wide variety of music, and gossip. 7) sophie asks councilor terik to take her to her house guts (what else is there to call it, honestly-) again, and she retrieves a dvd player, tv, and her whole dvd collection. she asks dex to make them solar powered, and he does, smort little bestie boi that he is. sokeefe movie nights and cuddle <3 (also whole group movie nights, but that doesn’t quite fit into this post xd) i have more but those can be for later :)

avlar? no he's not evil, he's just secretly wraith wich is why wrairhs backstory is complicated, but not interesting because in the book it was revealed, they didn't know he worked for never seen.

I've decided to grant mercy on you all and post some more of the Dex/Sophie kidnapping angst. Let me know if you want to be tagged when I post more :)

(side note, I don't think this part is as sad, so enjoy it while it lasts.)

When the sun rose, the first thing they did was find Iggy sleeping on their pillow. Edaline supposed his rumbling snores should have tipped her off, but they faded into the background after a while. Maybe that was how Sophie felt every morning. 

Sophie! She sat up and quickly threw on her work clothes. Grady was already scouring the caves for clues when she clambered down, so she joined him. They poked and peered at the walls and floor of the caves for almost an hour before Juline, Edaline’s sister arrived to help. She used her abilities as a Froster to freeze the waves that kept splashing their shoes and almost immediately, Edaline noticed a clue. 

She called Grady and Juline to where she was hunched in the mouth of the biggest cave. Old explosion marks from Sophie’s disastrous alchemy tutoring stained the walls, but Edaline was focused on something else. “See here, where Juline is keeping the water back?” She pointed to the line of frozen sand.

Grady nodded slowly, his thoughts catching up to hers. He finished her thought out loud. “The wave marks shouldn’t be coming past the mouth of the cave anyway. Unless,” his voice caught in his throat, tears welling up in his blue eyes. 

“Unless there was a tsunami.” Edaline finished, clutching her sister as they both broke down in tears.

“Hey, hey. That–that doesn’t mean they got caught in it. They could have leaped somewhere else,” Grady murmured, joining the hug. 

Edaline straightened up. “You’re right. They are somewhere safe. I’m not giving up until we find them.”

However, after Verdi’s second feeding time, Grady decided to go to the Council. All twelve councilors arrived in Havenfield not long after, with Alden and Della in tow. Edaline led them to the cave where she had made the shoreline discovery and explained what it meant.

Councilor Emery rubbed his temples for a long moment, his brow furrowed as he monitored the thoughts of the other eleven councilors. Della clutched Alden’s hand. Edaline knew that they were going to be Sophie’s new adoptive family, but it still stung. She wanted to tell Sophie that she was always welcome at Havenfield, but now— 

“We will send our best Hydrokinetics here to search the seafloor for clues of young Miss Foster and Mr. Dizznee. I would advise you to try to rest tonight, however unlikely it may seem,” Emery said after a long moment. 

Grady looked furious. “Our daughter is missing and you want us to go to bed like children?” Edaline’s grip tightened on his hand and his rage ebbed a little. 

“When will the Hydrokintics be here?” Juline asked, nervously wringing her hands. “I need to get back to the triplets before they tear the house down, but I’m not leaving until I know my son is safe, or at least on the track of being found.”

“Very well. Kenric, could you have our Technopaths check their registry feeds?” Kenric nodded and leaped away. “Terik, get the Hydrokinetics.”

I feel like Sophie’s father maay be councilor Terik

He was a pretty big part of the first few books and Oralie having a kid with a councilor aside from Kenric would be emotionally impactful. Forkle probably would have told Sophie who her dad was to keep her from trying to find out who both her parents were unless both her parents were important to the world. Also, they have different powers but Sophie’s enhanceing was part of her without the black swans tampering and Teriks ability seems somewhat similar to an Enhancer so one of his parents could have had the power. (i think abilities can be passed through generations but correct me if i’m wrong)

The Twelve Of Us Are Eleven Now

Notes: I was scrolling through my notes app earlier and I saw this, and it was just a couple sentences and I had some ideas so I finished it

Characters: Oralie, Emery, the rest of the council is mentioned

Warnings: Character death, panic attack

As she stopped to catch her breath, she looked back. Big mistake, the fire roared, everblaze painting the sky. It was beautiful in a horrible way. Oralie did a quick headcount, Tiergan, Alden, and then other councilors. Fitz and Sophie were no where to be seen, as well as Kenric. She was just with Fitz and Sophie, but she had run to find her colleagues to find the others, she didn't expect for the wind to catch the everblaze. She fought her way over to where the rest of the council was. "Sophie, Fitz and Kenric are all missing she told them. "What!" Emery shouted before doing a quick headcount of his own. "Sophie and Fitz went to bottle quintence for the extinguisher." Liora spoke up. Oralie let out a sigh of relief, but only for a minute, "Wait, that still leaves Kenric unaccounted for." Terik shifted from foot to foot, side to side and quietly, with tears in his eyes whispered

"When the fire started Kenric tackled Fintan away from you Fitz and Sophie." Oralie brought her hands up to cover her mouth feeling tears sting her eyes muttering no under her breath, but  the only thought running through her head right now was, that he, Kenric can't, that's not how he would die, he must still be alive, hurt but alive. But as much as the council liked to make everything look perfect it wasn't and when Terik met her eyes, tears flowing like a waterfall, like she was sure she and the others tears were, he whispered again, like talking any louder would send everything crumbling down, but she felt like everything already had

"I'm sorry Oralie he's gone." She felt her knees go weak, she couldn't tell if she hit the ground or not but she might as well. Everything hurt with the agony of loosing the man she had loved, had wanted to spend the rest of her life with. Her heart hurt the worst it felt like someone was ripping it out, is this what dying felt like? Not burning but drowning, she felt like she had been dunked under the waves, like wading in the water and then suddenly stepping of a cliff into the dark blue ocean. She wasn't sure if she could come up for air, but there was one thought that rang louder than others, that rang longer than all the others.

This wasn't supposed to happen, her and Kenric where supposed to step down together, have a family, be together, but it had been ripped away all because of one man. She was still drowning but she was getting pulled farther down, she was disconnected like her body wasn't hers she was just an outsider, even though she could feel the wet hot tears on her face, that's when she heard someone telling her to just breathe, except she had forgotten how her sadness and anger faded away as terror flooded her senses, she couldn't breathe she was drowning! The voice came back except this time it didn't feel like her ears where the ones that heard it rather like it was broadcast straight to her brain

Breathe Oralie, it'll be ok, the twe- we'll figure it out.

She wanted to scream back at the calm voice that she didn't know how, she didn't know which way was up and which way was down much less how to breathe. The voice came back, like it could hear her thoughts

We'll help you through this just follow the rise and fall

She came back a little more as she felt her hand being put on where their lungs would be, and as she followed the breathing it felt like each breath was connecting her back to her body, her ability, her senses.

One breath the feeling of people around her, but giving her space. The burning on her shoulder from the molten crystal making its mark

A second breath and an ashy taste covered her mouth coating everything it could find, she felt herself grimace, she'd had enough smoke and ash for a lifetime.

Three, she heard people whispering and quietly crying, farther away she could hear people being directed but it was still muffled.

Four the smell of the entire ordeal came back, the thick heavy ash that felt like it coated everything it touched, the smell of burnt sugar, and smoke that had flooded the air when the spark was ignited registered in her brain, it was so potent she almost started gagging on the air.

Five she finally opened her eyes, unsure of when she had shut them. The world was blurry but the longer she had them open the more the blobs of colors shifted to real people, Bronte next to her on one side with Velia on the other, crouched down. The rest still standing close but giving her space. Emery was in front of her and when he could tell she recognized him again he smiled bitter sweetly, and she smiled back the same, still feeling the tears running down her face.

Eventually, she wasn't sure how much time had passed but the councilors had formed a circle holding each other close though nothing could close the gap they all felt. They sat there in the silence they had formed, grieving a coworker to some, a friend to others, and a lover to one.

I was thinking about the last prompt of keeptober Halloween and I was curious what you think each of the councilors would dress up as if team valient got to pick their costumes?

I'm so sorry the first thing that came to mind was the whole underground catboy society thing from a while ago and all I could think was catboy Bronte.

That being said, this ended up more me assigning them costumes based on the most minor details we have about them because so many of them are like never mentioned except for their name so. There's that (several of them also stumped me for a while, so they're not excellent answers, but oh well)

Alina: The fairy godmother from Shrek. They convince her she's glamorous while all the time knowing about her evil side.

Bronte: Oscar the grouch from sesame street. Grumpy and a great excuse to put him (lovingly) in a trash can

Clarette: Doesn't care about Halloween so only agreed to wear an animal-themed costumed. She is now an arthropleura (the thing that stabbed Fitz) because comedy

Darek: Would a ghost be too cliche? Because he's a phaser, so I can see that connection. But also Darek isn't too nice so he can be one of the despicable, unliked ghosts. that or a north pole elf

Emery: Scene kid. I don't. I don't know why. but he's got the thickest eyeliner you've ever seen and keeps saying no one understands him as he blasts his music to tune out the voices in his head

Liora: Listen she's got a whole ocean-theme thing going on I keep seeing her and thinking Moana.

Noland: Lin Manuel Miranda's Alexander Hamilton...listen okay this is entirely because of the ponytail I'm sorry.

Oralie: Sophie once described her as a fairy princess or something similar, so I can 100% see fairy.

Ramira: There is so little info about her but her aesthetic reminds me of those sun elves from tdp? looked it up they're called sunfire elves and the outfits are matching in color so! also both elves, might be fun to dress her up as an elf because she's also an elf :)

Terik: Wizard! Completely inspired by his cane, which made me think of a staff. And with being the only descryer, the rarity of his ability and of wizards could match!

Velia: Because she likes maps I keep thinking of Milo from Atlantis, but I don't know if she'd ever agree to something like that. But my mind is stuck on it so I can't think of anything else

Zarina: Pikachu. She's a charger okay I'm trying to make these make sense and pikachu is like. lightning! and she's wearing yellow in the councillor photo so! that or legolas. because elf and matching hair
