KFTLC crossover thought

Okay, previously I mentioned a Champions/Scarecrow and Mrs. King crossover because they were spies. But today I was looking at more old shows and old fanvids online and thought of Kung Fu: The Legend Continues.

I thought it would be interesting with The Champions because of the types of abilities Caine has and sort of tying in the Champions mystical Tibetans with Shambala, even with very different methods/roads to such abilities. Tying them in together could be very interesting to me.

I was thinking of this all happening in the 1990s. But it could happen in the late 1960s/early 1970s with a young Caine (and very young Peter, if he wasn't back at the temple). Or we could use Paul Blaisdell - he used to be a mercenary and might travel in similar circles.

Actually, with KF:TLC's penchant for flashbacks, we could have them meet in the past and now.

Could crossover all three shows, using Simms' son, Philip and/or Jamie and the Champions kiddos, but really, it's their parents all the fans care about.

Fender Celebrates 70 Years of Strat with Multi-guitarist “Voodoo Child (Slight Return)”

In commemoration of 70 years of Strat-is-faction, Fender put together a multi-artist, instrumental version of “Voodoo Child (Slight Return).”

It’s all about that axe, after all.

Featuring Tom Morello, Nile Rodgers, Ari O’Neal, Mateus Asato, Rei, Tash Sultana, Jimmie Vaughan, Rebecca Lovell, Tyler Bryant and Simon Neil playing Stratocaster guitars over Craig Young’s bass and Aaron Sterling’s drums, this busy, 60-string celebration works better in theory than practice.

The newest “Voodoo Child” is bombastic in the extreme and just as heavy-handed. But with the accompanying video featuring the guitarists spliced on and off an outdoor bandstand stacked with amps, it makes for a fine Fender advert and reminds listeners of the subtle qualities that made Hendrix so special.

does F.I.P stand for anything in particular or is it a secret

ah, my favourite question to answer, fuck it, this time im going to give the long answer:

a primer on FIP

you know.

i dont have the best memory of my past, i truly dont. i claim that certain things happen at certain ages but there is no way for me to know for sure.

long long ago i decided, a bit at random, that the age at which i came up with the concept of FIP industries might have been when i was eleven. that was a guess, an educated guess but a guess all the same.

i know the very first idea of something akin to fip industries came to me on a family trip after watching the now forgotten cartoon show called the project zeta. and this all happened roughly in 2003 - 2004. so that is why i use that date.

which would mean that its been 20 years since i came up with this project. i do remember distinctly that i promised my self at that age that i would not allow maturity or growing up to take this thing away from me. that i would not forget this story or these characters. indeed that i would make it grow and dedicate the surely considerable resources i would have as an adult to make it come true.

and i didnt.

ten years after that, when i was 21, i wrote a novel called F.I.P. industries. it's... fine, for a first draft of a first work of someone who had never written a novel before at 21 years of age. it develop the story, it crystalized it. it gave it a coherent shape and a strong foundation. what's more, it cemented the arcs of many of its key characters, characters that had started as broken, improvised toys made out of key chains and legos and pieces of toy cars. the lore also went through an EXTENSIVE overhaul, i incorporated elements from other stories, fused characters together into a single character, changed the race and gender of many other characters, changed dates, names and arcs around and streamlined the whole thing.

then in 2020 i decided to overhaul the entire lore a second time. dramatically changing the timeline and the importance of certain characters, cannibalizing a bunch of other stories, retooling a lot of things and, once again, pushing everything into a new direction.

and of course i should add that during those 20 years i kept adding characters, side stories, spin offs, lore, backstories and actually continued the story along. twenty years have passed both in the real world and in-universe.

and given that this is the story's 20th aniversary (i think), it is time for me to share this story with all of you, from beggining to end, explaining every character along the way. this is going to be a long and arduous excercise and i genuenly dont know if i am going to get through it all, but i will try all the same.

ill be making a series of posts under the tag #FIPindustries the story can be divided in three eras, it will be one masterpost per era, where i will go over the main chronology of the story and the main characters in each era.

Era 1, also known as the golden years covers the founding and original expansion of fip industries as a research lab covering multiple different disciplines and fields of studies, trying to find synergies between the different investigations. this was all financed and directed by its founder, Filander Ignatius Patrick. this era ends with the collapse of the company during a terrible incident that ended up killing, vanishing or transmutating most of its employees. what few survivors there were left scattered to the winds. key characters in this era are Montogmery J. Black, also known as the shadow, Craig Sterling, legally assigned as grim reaper, and Franchesca Turimov, cyborg, rabble rouser, bad news.

Era 2, also known as the dormant era, covers the fallout of fip industries collapse and the different stories of the multiple scavengers that managed to salvage the lost technology from the ruins of the company. this era is mainly dominated by Maximillian Sicamore, a sinister man with many secrets and even more plans, who used to be an employee at the company and one of the few survivors of the collapse. key characters in this era are Maximillian Sicamore, criminal mastermind, proud father, The four crazy kids, Marten, Ralph, Sarah and jessica, freelance heroes, The harpsichord crew, sky pirates.

Era 3, is the return of FIP industries to its former glory under the helm of maximillian's son, Erik Sicamore, who takes over his father's empire, re hires many of the old scientists that survived (and many of those who didnt as well), and includes a fresh batch of new blood, amongst which you can find many of fip industries old enemies. Under the control of Erik the company is redirected to more "charitable" goals, such as finding a source of infinite renewable energy for the world (which is all a front for his real plans, killing god). key characters for this era are Erik Sicamore, leader of FIP industries, broken man, trans, Peter, tamed serial killer, Leenard and Sasha, scientists, lost in time, lost in space

with this quick introduction you should be ready to parse whatever the more indepth dives i might make some day on each era in the oncoming posts.

Terrible Screenplay Ideas: "Vexing: A Benoit Blanc Mystery" Debonair detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) finds himself in Salem on a "Witch Tour". He and his fellow tourists shall experience the dark, spooky corners of the most haunted city in America under their guide "Virginia" (Ayo Edibiri) - a college student just trying to make money during the dry months. But Benoit doesn't believe in all of that hokum mumbo jumbo: he's here to try and find a particular cafe where, many years ago, he enjoyed a rather delectible hoagie. One tourist (James Marsden) gets everybody's backs up: he's rude, arrogant, vulgar, interrupts a lot, and (to Blanc's horror) seems to know more about this place and the trivia than him at every turn. So when he turns up dead, seemingly of a heart attack, it is no great loss and Benoit can go and find his sandwich. But he cannot let this be, something nags at him, and he must solve the case. Not only is his suspect list the entirety of the tour, but many of them believe this murder to be that of a long deceased witch, not least of all the Detective on scene (Jeffrey Combs) And his suspects include: Horror maestro Simeon Kincaid (Brad Dourif), hoping that inspiration will strike him here after his last book received mixed reviews. He is accompanied by his daughter Kitty (Fiona Dourif), an academic and scholar on a leave of absence after an embarrassing meltdown went viral... Goth trio, occult fanatics and theatre kids Kyle (Skyler Gisondo) and Belladonna (Molly Gordon) and Belladonna's new girlfriend Mavis (Kathryn Newton), who relish the spooky and occult, have dressed up and everything. Kyle is horrified that it's the ghost of a witch whose grave he disturbed, whilst Belladonna is convinced the result of a curse they placed on the man in a moment of anger, and Mavis is thrilled to claim that the deceased is now talking to her... Widow, social butterfly, lady of town and definite woman of culture and the arts Charity Le Mort (Christine Baranski) - who has rather taken a liking to Mr Blanc and finds herself stricken not just with he, but the city too... Retired Salem Police Detective Wolfgang Pecker (John Goodman), who is also on this tour to enjoy the culinary delights and expand his palette - he and Blanc get along swimmingly, although this murder puts a damper on things but his brain is still razor sharp! Zeke Underwood (Sterling K Brown) - a scorned tour guide (infiltrating as a customer in a terrible disguise) whose route was usurped by Virginia after a few too many bad calls, and now a loud contrarian and thorn in her side. Killing a man to haunt her tour is EXACTLY the sort of thing he would do... Can Blanc solve the murder, or is his skepticism blinding him to powers beyond this mortal coil?

As I worked with Bob in various projects, he introduced me to Buddy Miles, Pat Craig (Tazmanian Devils), Frank Souza, Marcus Uzilevsky, and other talents who’d affect my career in varying degrees. I feel indebted to Bob as a talented, warm-hearted musician, and great teacher.

The Critics Choice Awards 2024 celebrated cinematic and television excellence on Sunday night, January 14, 2024. Chelsea Handler returned as the host for the evening. THE ACADEMIC TO SUPPORT LOUIS TOMLINSON ON HIS US TOUR

The Academic have just been announced as support for Louis Tomlinson for his upcoming North America tour in May and June.

The Westmeath indie-pop rockers will support the former One Direction singer on dates across the US and Canada this summer, following on from their own headline North American tour.

"We’re buzzing to be joining @louist91 for some shows on the Faith In The Future world tour!" The Academic posted to their Instagram today. "We already know that Louis has the most incredible fans and we can’t wait to play for you guys! Let us know which show you are coming too. We will try and meet as many of you as we can!"

It's already been a huge year for Craig Fitzgerald, Stephen Murtagh, Matthew Murtagh and Dean Gavin. The Academic scored their second Number 1 on the Official Irish Albums Chart with their sophomore record Sitting Pretty.

The follow up to 2018 album Tales From The Backseat – their first chart topper – saw off stiff competition from both Paramore and Taylor Swift to take the coveted top spot. Tour dates across Ireland, the UK and Europe followed before the band headed Stateside.

In a special Hot Press cover story interview with Pat Carty, bassist Stephen Murtagh explained: “The first album feels like such a summery record, a young debut album. I don’t think this album feels that way. It feels like a natural progression without losing sight of what makes us… us.”

The album was produced by Nick Hodgson, formerly of Kaiser Chiefs, at Snap Studios in London.

“We listened to a lot of mixes like R.E.M. and Arcade Fire," bassist Stephen Murtagh remarked. "A lot of indie music is very kick drum with the vocal shouting at you down the middle whereas we wanted it a bit more spacey.”

Earlier this month, The Academic performed for 20,000 people during US President Joe Biden's trip to his ancestral home in Ballina, Co. Mayo during his Irish visit. The band also performed at the Hot Press-curated Windmill Live show at the end of March.

Tomlinson will perform in Dublin on November 8th this year, at the 3Arena as part of his UK and European tour.

'23 SKIDOO

Before rattling off a list of my top ten movies for the year, I should offer a disclaimer. As with most years, it's based on incomplete information. There are still quite a few significant movies I haven't yet seen. But here, based on what I've seen and how I'm feeling at this writing, is my Top Ten List for 2023.

Killers of the Flower Moon--Martin Scorsese's epic yet intimate nightmare about the Osage murders in Oklahoma in the 1920s is a masterpiece; one of his best works and probably the best movie of the year.

Oppenheimer--Half of the midyear smash duo, this chronicle of the atom smasher of White Sands is a dazzling directorial performance by Christopher Nolan, fracturing his narrative yet keeping us focused. Possibly a hair overlong and anticlimactic, it's riveting at its best.

Barbie--The other half of "Barbenheimer." Greta Gerwig's brightly-colored take on the Mattel icon is crazy, imaginative and deeply goofy, yet in its own way no less serious in its ambitions. Margot Robbie is improbably touching in the title role.

American Fiction--Jeffrey Wright is quietly marvelous as an African-American novelist who so resents being expected to pander to white ideas about the black experience that he does so with a vengeance and becomes a smash. Cord Jefferson's adaptation of the Percival Everett novel Erasure is both rueful and hilarious, often at the same time, and beautifully acted by Sterling K. Brown, Tracee Ellis Ross, Leslie Uggams, Myra Lucretia Taylor, Issa Rae, Miriam Shor and the criminally underutilized Erika Alexander.

Maestro--It's not so much a biopic in the usual sense as a portrait of the marriage of Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre. Bradley Cooper is luminous as Bernstein, and his reserved directorial style balances Bernstein's grand self-dramatizing manner beautifully. Yet it's Carey Mulligan's Felicia who emerges as the movie's guiding spirit.

Godzilla Minus One--The Lizard King stands in for postwar despondency in this one-off, one-of-a-kind monster spectacle that's also a surprisingly moving portrait of a nation coming to terms with utter defeat, and gradually starting to rise from its own ruins.

Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret--Judy Blume's classic for adolescent girls was a long time coming to the screen, but under the direction of Kathleen Fremon Craig it struck just the right note; sweet and lighthearted.

Air--Sneakers have become such a cultural touchstone that it's probably inevitable that we'd get an origin story for athletic footwear. Ben Affleck's account of the development of the Air Jordan line and the issues around it is absorbing and amusing.

The Holdovers--Alexander Payne's '70s-period comedy, set at a private school in Massachusetts, is essentially a vehicle for the performances of Paul Giamatti as a splenetic ancient history teacher, Da'Vine Joy Randolph as a bereaved cafeteria manager and Dominic Sessa as the kid they're stuck with for the holidays. But what performances they are.

Saltburn--After her stunning debut with Promising Young Woman, Emerald Fennel's second feature, a neo-gothic take on class, is by comparison a little overwrought and sour. But it's no less brilliant, and it comes together joltingly at the end.

A few others that I found to be worth my time: The Blackening, A Haunting in Venice, Dumb Money, Jules, Theater Camp, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Thanksgiving, Somewhere in Queens, Cocaine Bear, Renfield, Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, Napoleon and The Boys in the Boat.

A superb 2024 to us all!

i really wonder how i would fare if i was in a Worth the candle situation, that is not to say what would happen if i, mandy, ended up in Aerb, but rather what would happen if i, Amanda, woke up one day and found myself as an employee of F.I.P. Industries.

depending on the era i am in, it indicated how fucked i might be, if its Era 1 then i am fucked, no ifs or buts about it, Filander would have me as a slave and i wouldnt be able to escape the collapse of it all except through exceptional luck. i would probably try to stay close to craig sterling, but not too close, although franchesca might take issue with that. otherwise i would try to contact marten or to keep an eye open for sarah and jessica parker to get me out of this.

Era 2 should be fine enough as long as i keep my head down and steer clear from maxwell sicamore or any of his contacts or his technologies, which might prove trickier than it seems but doable. Sicamore is not a monster and he might be intrigued by me but i think that if i make a good enough case that i really want nothing to do with any of it he will leave me alone. i figure i can hang out with mark emil and susan and if things ever get too daisy ill ask for help to the four crazy kids.

Era 3, well, there is not much of a choice, we are in endgame territory, things are as bad as they can possibly get, there is no escape for me and all i can do is hope that Erik will succeed in killing god and that ill manage not to die before that happens. again, this time around i would look to befriend the witch. and obviously stay far far far away from peter or sarah.
