Day 16: Angel

So this one I accidently went into default mode and colored it before realizing that I was trying to not do that?? Oops?

To be honest though, I’m not super proud of how the coloring came out, or the black and white either. The lineart turned out good (took forever tbh). I honestly need to spend some time coloring angels, I just don’t have a lot of experience working with whites and light colors or pastels.

Wings are already complicated to draw, but coloring them adds a whole other level of difficulty. So I think it is something I need to work on. Like spend one day on line art and a separate day on coloring. I think I get tired from the sketching and lineart process taking as long as it does with these pieces that by the time I get to coloring, part of my createive brain has retired for the day. Or my eyes are tried from looking at a screen.

I think taking a break and looking at it with a fresh brain would be beneficial. Maybe I’ll come back in a couple months and try to recolor this and see how it turns out.

Going into this prompt, I already knew it was going to be a more challenge piece. And I do think aspects turned out well. I like how the skin looks, and the way the fabric lays. I think I just need to push the colors more - more lighter lights and darker darks. In the monochrome version everything is such a mid toned grey that the complexity of the piece just feels a little lost.

For my trip ta Savannah I took my Sigma fp w/ 40 mm prime lens. I took my other set-up as well, but I really haven’t gotten createive with the sigma, and I thought this would be a great opportunity. I really like the outcome 

I gotta get out more with the sigma for sure. Next time I’ll bring my 15mm wide prime that I normally use for my real estate video walk throughs.

this is a screenshot from out transition lecture today called: where do ideas come from?

in this lecture we had a talk from Dr Karl Jefferys’ who is. a creative researcher and he spoke to us about how we think and create ideas and how a creative mind works. he spoke to us about brain scans and how some peoples creative thought process can be different to someone else’s and most thought process always in with doubt and the the question of yes but, he spoke to us about how we can change and improve our creative thought process by say yes but....i can fix this by. so that all and every idea we have can always help with our success instead o pulling us back.

So I apparently stumbled on some Legion news from Ryan Sook sketches. That skeleton who's been around since Millennium is "X-Ray Girl" & that apparently there were 2 more Legionnaires added to the roster (Entropy Kid & Radius Lad) but quite frankly I don't know which is worse. The fact I had to wait a year to learn the name of a premiere Legionnaire or that there are now 5 New Legionnaires I know nothing about atop of reinvention of classic Legionnaires I know nothing about (primarily because editorial was taken out back & shot I presume).

Wild.

Sounds like Entropy Kid has been attacking the createive process over in the comics world.
