Note: All of these are my personal headcanons... Gonna write some kitty headcanons under too because I am silly like that and cringe culture is dead :3

1. Kitty (Herr) Knock!

Here is kitty Knock headcanons!

I'd imagine him to be an orange ragdoll cat!! Orange cats are generally known from what I've seen for being peculiar little guys, so I thought that would fit Knock very nicely for being out of the ordinary and silly. I honestly chose the ragdoll because of the fluffy appearance of their fur but reading into it, they can be affectionate and friendly too. And they love belly rubs. Perhaps he is a friendly cat who originally wanted attention and love for people but after being shunned for being abnormal, he gave up.

Ragdolls are intelligent too, whilst orange cats are known for the opposite. I reckon that Knock seems unintelligent with some of the things he does (getting stuck in high places, running into things etc.) But he is actually quite a smart cat in reality.

He's definitely a stray cat who was abandoned at some point on the streets and had to survive on his own until finding Orlok </3 Poor guy

He likes smaller animals, especially rats. The ones cats are meant to kill, Knock does not. He refuses to.

He is quite an old kitty (hence the gray fur parts), but he's still full of life!

He's also extra mischievous. I reckon >:3

Hes very dirty, his furr is matted and he also has fleas because he hasnt been groomed :(

Kitty (Count) Orlok

Note: For kitty Orlok, I wanted him to have light gray skin but it was too late when I realised the gray was way darker than I wanted it to be :( I have new pens coming in a few days so I can redo Orlok

But anyways, kitty Orlok headcanons;

But yeah, I think Orlok to be a Sphynx cat. Ive heard others talk about how unappealing and somewhat creepy Sphynx cats look (honestly, how dare they >:[) and I think it's sorta the way a supernatural vampire like a creature would be viewed. Despite all this, Sphynx cats for their loyal and intelligent, which I imagine could be overlooked when seeing kitty Orlok. (You can probably guess who he's loyal to)

I also intentionally made him extra spooky looking too. He has lifeless white eyes and sharp claws, with lots of wrinkles and a tall, lanky stature to catch the creepy aura. I also imagine he can make himself look taller willingly in order to look extra terrifying when he needs or wants to be feared.

Kinda messed it up a little too but dark purple collar. I didnt know what to put for the little tag so diamond shape because hes extra fancy like that.

Hes always been a stray cat, getting used to being alone since he was a mere kitten. He doesn't really get visitors often so imagine his surprise when a peculiar occurance is present and a specific orange cat finds and befriends him.

Despite Sphynx cats having an affectionate nature, Orlok isn't really the most affectionate cat at all. He can be quite violent, which pulls most people away in itself.

Kitty Ellen (Hutter)!

Last but not least, Kitty Ellen headcanons!

I honestly dont know why I chose the Scottish fold. Just saw some photos and for some reason went "Fuck yeah, Ellen!!"

Unlike the other two, Id imagine Ellen to actually have a pet owner who possibly has both Thomas and Ellen living in the house.

No doubt she'd be spoiled to death, with a fancy pretty collar and a fancy little tag to go with it.

She likes watching birds outside the window because I said so >:]

Even though she has the chance to go outside like Id imagine Thomas to do, Ellen actually feels more comfortable just lounging around in the house and just doing cat things. Sure she will explore outside sometimes but she doesn't bother with it too much.

Shes a friendly affectionate cat who likes attention sometimes.

Yeah I dont have as many headcanons for Ellen as I do the other two surprising

im not sure how much spoilers you are ok with (probably fine since you scrolled down my blog but i want to be careful) but i can say as a baseline that azuma is one of those entities that are mentioned in the background of the story that don't matter. until they matter, like the mutsushikas or ditasword. azuma himself is an interesting case because of how deep the rabbit hole goes. like. its actually quite ridiculous how many pots he has his hands in. and no one even knows if azuma is two different characters or if he just changed names at some point (since fragmentation=not aging)

im just not good at ascertaining what is a spoiler and what isnt so just let me know how much i should lower the filter. but azuma really is special compared to the others fragments.

since azuma does not have a design i ironically try not to get attached to any mental image of him i may think of (because i hate being wrong) but i did edit a cap of bad anime sasami-san slightly as you possibly saw because i thought it was funny. i really needed a stand-in for the last chara in the photo redraw so i went fuck it, i'll use the barely edited design thats just sasami's brother (who holds a briefcase over his face at all times) but with a pink shrimp ahoge

sophie would love being able to keep up with an aspect of human culture and everyday life – and fitz and keefe would love getting involved, too! human media and entertainment is drastly different from any elvin productions they’ve seen – by far. humans are a lot more… dark? and violent? but…. it’s intriguing. fitz isn’t keen on r-rated movies, though, because the violence gets Very graphic. keefe can only stomach a few. sophie’s kinda just Used to it

i feel like fitz would be into (some) documentaries and movies based on true events. he’s a knowledge sponge, guys! an adorable little nerd! he loves to learn about prominent figures in human culture and pieces of their history. it intrigues him. (and sometimes terrifies him. seriously, how are humans so violent?)

still, even if it gives him a bit of a stomach-ache sometimes, he always appreciates the effort put into the film.

while fitz is into more psychological thrillers, keefe likes anything and everything generically dubbed ‘freaky’. (he thinks pennywise is pretty cool. he draws him once and sophie is both amazed and off-put by how realistic it looks)

sophie’s pretty into the horror category herself, so her and keefe can empathize on the interest. fitz is downright confused as to how they could enjoy something like that. (if it’s movie time and keefe or sophie picks one of those, fitz claims the Middle Cuddle Spot so that he’s cushioned between the two of them and can easily hide under the covers or their arms.)

keefe also likes comedy, action, chick-flicks, drama, (some) musicals… you know, this boy can basically roll with anything. does he have his favourites? yes. but can he settle down and watch something with sophie and fitz that he wouldn’t normally choose? also yes

let’s state the obvious – keefe and fitz are both into disney. especially disney princess movies. 

and i’m serious about that!!! not as a joke, like, “oh, haha, they like the princess movies?”

keefe’s favourite is probably Tangled. 

flynn rider is suave and has keefe’s charm/humor! maximus is tough and snarky when you meet, but he can soften up, and keefe relates to that! pascal knows how to put up a fight! and rapunzel herself is brave and adventurous and there for the people she cares about; and that’s all keefe has ever wanted to do. (also wielding a frying pan as a weapon is badass)

also, as much as it might hurt to say it, keefe relates to rapunzel, the abuse she suffered, and the trap she was in. the strong storyline and accurate depiction hits home.

fitz’s is probably Frozen. he loves the sisterly action they have going there, okay?? like how badass is anna? how badass is elsa? how badass are these women together?

sophie’s is Mulan. she’s such a strong and powerful role model to look up to! and the humor is PEAK.Mulan is also from sophie’s childhood, so that makes it even more special. the fact that she gets to share it with keefe and fitz…. magical.

also sophie lowkey wants to follow in mulan’s footsteps and slice her hair into a bi bob with a sword. see this post of mine ; )

sci-fi gets all of them. they like the adventure and the morals in the stories, the warnings for the future. they like the undiscovered planets, the tricky tech, and the general imagination that went into producing it. 

think The Matrix, Star Wars, Alien, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avatar, Tau (Netflix), Wall-E, I Am Mother (Netflix), Ready Player One…

they all have some shared favourite movies and shows, though, where their tastes align.

 think Stranger Things (Netflix) (they find it seriously freaky and amusing how similar it is to them/their situation), Once Upon a Time (these are the fairytales sophie grew up learning about?), Dark (Netflix) (does it get much better than time travel??), She-Ra and the Princesses of Power (Netflix) (again!! badass women galore!! it’s awesome!!), the OA (Netflix) (it’s shrouded with mystery), the Rain (Netflix) (this one is a big adventure!!), the Umbrella Academy (Netflix) (i mean, c’mon, they have to save the world from the apocalypse, isn’t that pretty rad in and of itself?), A Quiet Place (this one… fucking brilliant. they’re all dead silent as they watch it and it’s such a powerful movie that they feel weird making sound when it finishes… they watch it again and again and again.), Onward (it’s adorable as FUCK and keefe may cry a little everytime they watch it)…

so, yeah! keefe and fitz really appreciate human media (and it especially comes in handy when they’re sick)

but let’s all admit it…. sometimes human productions are extremely Stupid and low-budget/general low-quality.

Sorry I haven’t answered until now, Prince! I wanted to think how to answer this!

I won’t lie to you— a couple years ago, I loved cringe compilations a LOT! I never watched L*afy*sh*e*e bc that, even back then, was too far for me. I usually didn’t like those that had commentary. I mainly focused on weird/fringe fandom and fandom stuff I didn’t like as well as art

(Like those people who drew and shipped the very much real people from Hamilton... y’all... wtf you doing....)

To me, I kinda liked it bc it made me feel a bit better about the weird and cringy shit I use to do/make in the not so distant past if I’m being honest! That being said, I wasn’t an angel and tho I never went and talked to or hunt down anyone in a video or their page, I do feel I contributed to a toxic culture and for that, all I can do is make sure those around me feel safe to pursue what they wish and encourage others to let people be all the same.

“Cringe culture” isn’t exactly the easiest thing to talk about mainly because there are layers

Are we discussing normal bronies or the stuff like the “Ponyn Cum Jar Experiment?”

Are we talkin people shipping CanonXOc or people who ship others in real life?

In any group you find of fans, you’re going to find people who simply have no self-awareness and do weird shit because humans love doing and saying weird shit. That’s just how it be, if we’re honest.

When it comes to (most) creative endeavors, esp with younger artists, I think people should in GENERAL leave them alone. This esp includes adults who go around DA and randomly “”””critique”””” characters and I use that word lightly since it’s very rarely real and sustainable critique.

When it comes to general fandom wank and other weird stuff, I think kinda the same thing. As long as you aren’t hurting anyone, go nuts. Do what you want. HOWEVER, if it’s something like... genuinely strange. Like shipping the dead founding fathers together or the weird side to MLP we all know about, I think you need to have some self realization ‘cause other people are allowed to say they don’t like your behavior and find it gross! Other people can have an opinion on you and the weird stuff you do! That’s just how it works!

Have I written and done and said cringy things? Oh fuck yeah I have, but I am also aware when I put it on the internet it stays here, and I now know to be more careful of things like that if I don’t want other people to possibly tell me their opinion or speak out about it. I wasn’t careful in the past, but I suppose that makes those times a learning experience above all else.

Now, that’s kinda the more tame stuff of cringe culture. Mainly pointing and saying “this is fucking weird” to weird stuff online. That’s kinda the stuff I use to consume back when I did participate in cringe culture. The darker side of cringe culture and what people really tackle more than anything is the belittling of people who may have mental health issues or be impaired online and attacking them. Or, attacking young kids who don’t know better and who clearly don’t have parents who are keeping a close enough eye on them.

One, the two groups listed above are usually innocent, are minding their own business about things, and in general sometimes don’t understand what they did to warrant others to attack them. It’s also really rude and oftentimes is ableist or ageist to do so. In general, you shouldn’t attack anyone online like a feral dog full stop. Ever. But those two groups are those most suspectible and the worst part of cringe culture is that it’s oftentimes done without others being aware and can’t say anything for themselves. To me, that’s insidious.

I’m not entirely sure how the internet shifted, but it did and probably for the better. I think Cringe Culture will always exist, both the lighter and more spectacle side of things as well as the side which goes out and actively attacks and hurts others. It’s unfortunate, but that’s the way the world is.

At any rate, cringe culture is def something less becoming of people now than in the past (on some sites...) and with more people speaking out against it, I do hope we can prevent this sort of “pointing and laughing and poking” in the future and better protect those vulnerable online.

Beauty and the Beast Thoughts

So Beauty and the Beast being a beloved movie of mine (despite its obvious issues), I was skeptical of the live action movie. It just seemed like a cash grab to me since Disney has been jumping on the remake bandwagon lately, and from what little I heard of the soundtrack, I was not impressed. And these things may still be true, but I actually did enjoy the movie as a whole. I guess I’ll start off with what I liked...

—Aesthetically, the movie was gorgeous. The scenery was splendid, the atmosphere was perfect, and the movie did a good job of combining several elements of the aesthetic of the animated movie, musical, original fairy tale, and pay homage to other versions as well. The cgi for the animated characters fit run in; I never found myself thinking “this looks so fake,” which is rare in movies with effects like this these days.

—The movie addressed some plot holes and issues with the original. For example, why was no one aware of the beast and his castle until now? What exactly happens to all the servants if they can’t break the spell, and why were they punished as well? What happened to Belle’s mother and why did they have to move to the village? It also kind of acknowledged the whole stockholm syndrome thing

—The beast...oh lawdy...yeah, I have a bara movie and he was so fucking bara, guys. This movie made me feel like furry trash. Putting that aside, the beast is a bit more developed here. He can read (it always never made sense to me that he, a prince, would not know how to read, even if it had been ten years), but he’s kind of tsundere about how cultured he is. Plus he can apparently travel around the world using a dimensional portal book. This is a very Howl-y beast, and I like it.

—I thought all of the supporting cast was delightful. They pay homage to the original but also put their own spin on things. While the character designs were a little off-putting at a first glance, they really do work with the scenery. The feather duster design, for example, is a gorgeous glass peacock; much improved from the original in my opinion. I’m glad they gave Audra McDonald (the wardrobe) more to do because it would’ve been a total waste if she didn’t sing. Josh Gad humanized Lefou, having him as more of a Shakespearean fool than a bumbling sidekick, and the straight man to Gaston’s delusions. As for the “gay” moment? It really wasn’t anything, but at that point I guess I just wanted him to be happy (he ends up dancing with a minor character who is revealed to be queer in a funny way). Kind of sad a lot of people think two men dancing with each other needs to be censored in 2017 and not bestiality, but here we are. (Also still bitter with the missed opportunities between Lumiere and Cogsworth. Lumiere is totally a polyamorous bisexual, am I right? But seriously though I just watched the animated version the other day and the sexual tension is undeniable.)

—Also, I’d like to add the movie shows all the servants becoming inanimate as the beast dies and I almost cried.

—There were all sorts of little funny moments here and there. Belle geeks out over the library. The beast hits her with a massive snowball and knocks her over. Belle jokes at the end that the prince should grow a beard. Stuff like that.

—The music, for the MOST PART, was lovely.

—The movie was more diverse than I expected it would be (and by “diverse,” I mean there’s black people). Baby steps, Disney, baby steps.

—Maurice actually draws and invents useful things and not a stupid wood-chopping machine. And Belle does a bit of drawing and inventing herself. It makes no sense in the animated movie that she, an inventor’s daughter and being as well-read as she is, wouldn’t at least have some mechanical knowledge.

And also, a caveat on Gaston:

—I enjoyed Luke Evans in the movie, but he plays a different Gaston from the animated version. His Gaston is less hammy and machismo and more of a charming psychopath. Still a fun villain, but definitely less meme-worthy. I found his character interesting because at the beginning of the movie, I honestly thought he might end up being redeemed, but he out-Gastoned Gaston in how sinister he revealed himself to be.

Now here’s the not-so-good:

—Emma Watson just didn’t deliver as Belle. She was stiff, she didn’t have the pipes (she tries, but her voice is meek and auto-tuney), and she just lacked  passion in most scenes, especially the beginning. I understand why it’s tempting to think Hermione would make the perfect Belle, but considering this was a movie-musical, they really should have cast someone with a stronger voice. Because the movie starts off with “Belle,” the first 15–20 minutes were lackluster.

—The beast transforming back was 10x worse because he’s even hotter as a beast in this version and even uglier as a human. I cringed. Judge me if you will.

—Both Belle and the Beast have some added backstory here that are not nearly as developed as they should be, although Belle’s story (she lost her mother but her father wouldn’t tell her why. Anticlimactically, it’s the plague, and Maurice had to leave his sick wife behind. Was the plague even still a thing during these times?) We learn the Beast’s mother also died and he apparently had an abusive father, but it’s kind of mentioned quickly and then never brought up again. It just seemed like a lazy afterthought to attempt to make excuses for the Beast.

—The enchantress also left me scratching my head. Apparently she lives in woods as a sort of medicine woman named Agatha? And Maurice somehow knows who she is? I was really hoping there would be more of a twist with her; maybe she’d be one of the dead mothers...but nope. She was just kind of there.

Overall, I give this movie a B for “Bara Bestiality.” You’re welcome.
