i think we need to acknowledge that dean would not magically just not be angry anymore after the thing with god has been done and even after he has gotten Cas back. He would definitely still snap. Sometimes at his dumb brother, and other times at strangers in grocery stores or while filling his car, at the tv, or even at Cas and himself too. Of course Cas knows Dean better than anyone so any time this happens he will just quietly reach out, take Dean's hand in his and squeeze. And anger will just leave Dean's body instantly. One time Dean asks him how he does it, it's not like he's an angel anymore or has any grace left. Cas smiles at him and tells him. "I don't do anything Dean. I just hold your hand. Your love for me does the rest. There is no magic" "I think that's plenty of magic, Cas," Dean tells him eyes glassy as he squeezes his hand back.

Oh my god that imagery! Touya with the fire animals. I'm actually tearing up at work..

Each of the kids has a specific animal. Izuku is, of course, bunny, Himiko is bat, and Mezou is octopus. Touya doesn’t assign himself an animal for a while tbh preferring to just represent himself with a flame. He uses the animals to tell the kids stories, always happy ones where families stay together and no one is hungry mc the bad guys get punished. His own kind of shadow theater for his kids. If one of them is sick or just generally not feeling well they lay on top of him during the night and listen to him breathe as he paints galaxies and flames over their heads. Puts them to sleep every time.

Dean adds an entry about Jack in John's journal. At first just wanting to document a nephilim but over time he keeps expanding it, adds photos of Jack at six month, then at one year. Tracks his eating habits. Logs every detail once he starts teething. They work less and less cases these days and haven't encountered any new creatures so the only new entries are about Jack. John's journal turns into a baby book. Dean smiles at the realisation when he is about to glue in a photo of Jack with him and Cas on the beach, enormous floaties making his arms look even more chubby than usual as he wiggles in Dean's arms and Cas tries to point and make him look into the camera. There aren't many pages left in the journal, soon he'll have to buy a new one but for now Dean couldn't imagine a better purpose for the remaining space than this.
