Do you have a favorite myth, and if so, what is it?
I was extremely fond of Irish mythology for a while, especially the Red Branch/Cuchulainn cycle (Cuchulainn, mythology's greatest harmbo). For various really unfortunate reasons that never should have hsppened, I can't really engage with it anymore. Which sucks because it is really, really fun. It's fuckin crazy mythology they have over there. I love that about it. There was a dude who smashed a chariot in battle with his boner. A guy made a river because his dick was so big it dragged on the ground. Almost all of it is inevitably fucking tragic, which is great if you enjoy Suffering.
My favorite sort of thing is weird creatures from any branch of folklore or mythology, and also horrible monsters. I like to imagine them as real, somehow, and what they would actually look like, and guessing what their natural habits and behavior would be. This extends to some modern cryptozoology, but only certain kinds of creatures or monsters. Others I am just not into. Sorry, bigfoot.
My favorite imaginary creatures are ANYTHING feline, unicorns/Pegasus/fantasy equines, and specifically the leucrotta/leucrocuta which is neither but very cool. I have the skull of one; they were a really fantastical description of a hyena. They look different in my imagination, though. More like this classic illustration from the AD&D Monster Manual:
Tumblr media
Kind of deerlike, kind of canine. I think about them a lot. Also perytons, but those are modern in origin. I have some great ideas about those as well.
I also love the concept of angels. Not bland white guys in nipple-y armor, but angels as really frightening Creatures that are occasionally human-looking and/or fuckable. (Sorry St. Michael.) I have my own little ideas about what the various types look like and do.
Edit: I fuckin. Forgot. The Goetic demons. (Sorry Uncle Stolas!) The grubby little urchin that tells you where treasure is hidden and just...fuckin...hands you snakes??? One guy is just a horse. Another guy is a smaller horse, or maybe a donkey, who just infodumps you about all the people who have ever drowned. There are some specific-ass demons.

In transactions of the killkenny archaeological society volume 1-2 1853 , Eugene O kearney known forger writes that there exists a manuscript called "achievements of the seven celebrated irishman in the East under command of Royal champion Conall Kernach" he writes not about the manuscript but about an interperlation. Of the manuscript content all he says is that the interperlation occurs after Manannan mac Lir instructs Cuchulainn to use Gae Bolg crafted from a serpent that lived in Loch-na-niath near Manannans house in Armenia". It seems to be the origin for Lady Gregory mentioning it.
Do you think the manuscript exists or existed ? If nor was it just a forgery and how much damage do you think O'kearney did to irish folklore
What a profoundly interesting question! Thank you for bringing this to my attention Anon!
I generally don't deal with material after the 16th century asides from short dalliances here and there, so I had not heard of this O'Kearney before (for those curious, he appears to have used a pen name, Nicolás Ó Cernaigh, and this is the article anon is referring to).
I can't really say anything definitive (.i. beyond my vibes on the matter) in regards to the possibility if this manuscript existed or not. It is just very outside my wheelhouse. While some of the material O'Kearney puts forward in his note appears plausible based on some of the things I know about the Ulster Cycle in the 19th century (ex: the description of the gáe bolga sounds a lot like the 'stingray spear' idea that has been discussed by Edward Pettit's 'Cú Chulainn's gae bolga: from harpoon to stingray spear,' Studia Hibernica 41 (2015): 9-48) or earlier (the idea that Conall is operating outside Ireland kicks around in medieval Ireland, which I discussed in my MA thesis on the topic), it could simply be him incorporating actual folk material into his fiction to give it plausibility.
What I would say is that how he is representing buada here is pretty weird. Unless there was a significant change in how they were being imagined in the late Early Modern heroic cycles, it looks like a red flag to me. I can't think of any objects being ascribed buada, and the buada we do see are... not supernatural powers? I suppose some of them might be (the buada of seeing in TBDD for instance is pushing it), but a lot of them are just 'this person ROCKS at this thing'. It looks like he is interpreting it as a word like 'enchantment' or something, which is not what I would be used to with the medieval material. However, it is very possible for terms like this to experience shifts. If you are in the International Celtic Congress this year, you will hear me talk about clessa and how they change over time in the tradition.
Further, again, I am a medievalist so maybe this isn't as odd to a late early modernist, but this interpolation being in Latin seems super weird?
[A further detail, @irelandseyeonmythology just noted to me that it looks like there's a very basic translation issue. The title of the manuscript, according to this gentleman, was 'an t-oc(h)tar Gaedil', and somehow took that to mean seven and not eight. They similarly noted that the use of Latin seems really odd for the period.]
This sort of thing is, of course, the problem with forgers and other forms of academic dishonesty. The moment someone dabbles in it, every piece of their work is now under extreme scrutiny and can't receive the benefit of the doubt. While, personally, I would love for there to be an entire manuscript about Conall (though I would find it strange for there to be a single-text manuscript, unless that was a popular thing in the late Early Modern Irish period or something?), I would have to say that we should assume that this is a fiction. Especially as he (seems to?) be trying to use the interpolation as part of a defense against accusations that he was making things up.
I am, of course, not a folklorist. I'm a medievalist. So, I can't really say anything in regards to the damage he has done to Irish folklore. I would leave any true judgement to an actual folklorist, rather than myself who has no qualifications to make such a call. However, if my wholly unqualified opinion on this is of interest, based on my experience, there's a long list of people I would put ahead of him.
[Again, a further detail, @irelandseyeonmythology noted that it looks like this idea didn't have much traction, as there is only one reference to this article, found in vol. 15-16 of The Modern Language Review (p. 78)]
Anyways, all of that aside, thank you for asking me about this! What a lovely way to conclude my weekend. This was really interesting!

I like to invent images for invisible beings: plants, spirits, animal spirits, human spirits, and all the beings in between.
I draw very heavily on traditional church art.
I was reared a Catholic, surrounded by Madonnas, and I love all of the images of the Mother still, but have widened my viewpoint to incorporate images from many religions and cultures, from many places in the world.
I love Gothic art  particularly and you will find many references to church carvings in my work, like green men (and women), the Madonnas of course, and all the infinity of mythical beasts that inhabit Gothic cathedrals.
I love hybrids, beasts that are neither one thing nor the other, a man who is also a bird, a woman who is a tree, deliberately ambiguous images, hair that might be water, or branches, eggs that might hatch into birds or snakes, or anything else you can imagine……

Merlin would have been so much more gay if the writers stayed true to Celtic paganism(the historicaly accurate “old religion”)
Trigger warnings:
Main triggers: talk of sex, homophobia, religion, Catholics, colonization, anti Celtic, murder
Mention triggers: rape and sexual assault, creepy men, gore, insest, toxic masculinity
I will mark the sections with quick triggers with 2 red lines. Below the second one is when the trigger is gone.
_____________
I am posting this on December 21st, as today is the Winter Solstice, a Celtic Pagan holiday. It will be posted at 3:33 PM, as 3 is a sacred number among the celts. Because of the special occasion, I will be speaking on a subject that was important to many of them—homosexuality.
Some stuff first for introductions. Yes, yes, I know this may be boring but it helps with context. This religion didn’t have a name other than Celtic pagan or Celtic religion bc it seams everyone there believed it. This was until the Roman Empire concurred what is now the UK. Since Rome had adopted Christianity—more specifically, Roman Catholocism—they only allowed that religion to be practiced.
———(genocide)——
Once England was concurred in 43 A.D, the pagans were killed and their religion was surpressed. Not much is known about the pagans for this reason. However, we do know somethings from what the Romans have written down. Although, it is biased, as they believed the celts to be barbaric and also didn’t wright much about women.
——gore ——
First, we know they preformed human sacrifice on kings when the kingdom suffered along with some other groups. This could be from bad ruling to really bad weather. These kings died horribly, as they seamed to be stabbed multiple times, had thier nipples cut off, and left to die in a bog.
They had thier nipples cut off because the subjects would suck on the kings’ nipples to demonstrate submission, so cutting them off would fully dethrone the king.
—————
Now, background over. Here’s where it gets good.
Nipple sucking between too lovers or ‘special friends’ was seen as a preclemation of love, physical intimacy, and sexual expression. This, like other types of sex, was seen as something beutiful and sacred. Often, male soldiers would have these ‘special friend’ relationships with many fellow soldiers in groups. The Romans even observed that Celtic men seamed to prefer other males for love/sexual interest over women.
Nipple sucking was mostly described was between two men. Although, we must recognize that women may have been left out of written history. I would also like to point out, this may prove that aromantic people existed in that time, as these ‘special friends’ had sex and were not mentioned to be romantically involved.
The celts were known for their sex positivity and even eroticism because they loved it so much. This is one of the reasons why the pagans and the Chatholics clashed so badly.
Before the Romans really took over, Saint Patrick—yes, the Saint Patrick—started to try to convert the celts into Roman catholosim. He was appalled at the wide acceptance of polyamory(women were aloud to marry however many people they wanted) and homosexual relationships/marriages. Not to mention the celts could have sex with any one at any time as long as it is consensual.
——(Tw creepy men)——
That means no waiting til marriage, unless a Celtic chose to do so. Although we should take into consideration a statement made by Diodorus Siculus, an antient Greek historian, that “the young men will offer themselves to strangers and are insulted if the offer is refused.” In his series Bibliotheca historica. This could mean that either creepy men were comman place, or that homosexuality was so comman and done with everyone, it was wierd to be rejected.
————
Getting back to the Roman Catholics, the book Sextus Empiricus is published in the early 3th century and states,
“...amongst the Persians it is the habit to indulge in intercourse with males, but amongst the Romans it is forbidden by law to do so...”
It also goes on to say,
“...amongst us sodomy is regarded as shameful or rather illegal, but by the Germanic they say, it is not looked on as shameful but as a customary thing.”
For clarification, Germany is apart of Celtic society. So what we can infer is a very serious culture shock in terms of Rome and other places. During Emporor Serverus Alexander’s reign, openly homosexuals were deported.
In early 4th century, Emporor Constaine—the first Christian Roman Emperor—destroyed an Egyptian temple populated exclusively by femme, gay, pagan, priests. The Emproror then went on to eradicate all of them. However in 337 A.D., 3 emperors ruled, including Constantius II and Constans I, who where both in mlm relationships.
An odd thing these emporors went on to do was criminalize male bottoming during mlw sex 342 A.D.. 8 years later, Emperors Valentinian II, Theodosius I, and Arcadius ferther punished this act by killing these men by Public burning at the stake.
———(Tw toxic masculinity)———
I believe this was because masculinity was very important and a man acting in a more feminine role was seen as emasculating and humiliating. For the average man, he had to fight and defend his masculinity. Not doing so was seen as a personal failure.
——————
The last ever known peice of European literature containing a positive representation of homosexuality for 1,000 years was a large epic poem by Nonnus of Panopolis. It was titled Dionysiaca and the first part was published in 390 A.D., the last in 405 A.D..
So yeah, The catholics were very selective in terms of sex. One can only imagine how badly the celts and Catholics clashed. Back to 435 A. D., Saint Patrick began to preach Catholism and around that time wrote in his Confessio. He recounted that he found a boat to get out of Ireland and refused to suck on the nipples of those aboard.
“And on the same day that I arrived, the ship was setting out from the place, and I said that I had the wherewithal to sail with them; and the steersman was displeased and replied in anger, sharply: ‘By no means attempt to go with us.’ Hearing this I left them to go to the hut where I was staying, and on the way I began to pray, and before the prayer was finished I heard one of them shouting loudly after me: ‘Come quickly because the men are calling you.’ And immediately I went back to them and they started to say to me: ‘Come, because we are admitting you out of good faith; make friendship with us in any way you wish.’ (And so, on that day, I refused to suck the breasts of these men from fear of God, but nevertheless I had hopes that they would come to faith in Jesus Christ, because they were barbarians.) And for this I continued with them, and forthwith we put to sea.”
—(Tw very mild rape/sex assault mention—
So, as you can see, Celtic and Catholic ways clashed horribly. Something seen as good and sacred to the indigenous tribes was seen as barbaric and sinful to Saint Patrick. Also, don’t worry, the celts did not press the issue ferther, or else this would be a very different story.
—————
This only snowballed into a much bigger issue much later in medival English sexuality. They were VERY picky on what sex was aloud. Missionary was the only aloud position and it has to be the least pleasurable as possible. Making out and masturbation wasn’t aloud either, as that was also seen as a sin. Here’s a low Rez chart to help figure out when sex was okay.
Tumblr media
While we are discussing such a queer topic, I would like to bring up the topic of Anam Cara, or Soul Friends in Antient Celtic culture. A Soul Friend was a word used to describe a Philosophy in which one is not completely whole without thier “other half.” This person can be in a platonic, romantic, or familiar kind of love. Really, all it boils down to is that 2 poeple were made to be together since the beginning of time and will be at thier strongest when they become companions.
There is a Celtic legend that seams to depict a mlm Anam Cara relationship. It tells the story of Cuchulainn and Ferdiad, two male worriors who have known and loved each other a long time. But they must kill each other in a duel. Both are vary reluctant, as at least one of them will have to die.
————(Tw insest)———
Before I go on, it is important to mention there is a lot of debate on wether or not this is homosexual. Mainly because they were foster brothers, but since insest wasn’t as much of a taboo, I do not think this would be as much of a set back as it is today.
—————
They had tried to kill each other each day for 3 days, but they ended up hugging each other and kissing 3 times. On the fourth day, however, Cuchulainn killed Ferdiad. The man then holds Ferdiad in his arms and sings peoms for a long time. Here are some:
“We were heart-companions once,
We were comrades in the woods,
We were men that shared a bed
When we slept the heavy sleep
After hard and weary fights.
Into many lands, so strange,
And side by side we sallied forth
And we ranged the woodlands through,When with Scathach we learned arms!”
Heart companions seams to be similar or the same as soul freind, because of how it’s used. Although sleeping in the same bed isn’t inherently sexual, Cuchulainn then goes on to complement Ferdiad’s physical features.
“Dear to me thy noble blush,
Dear thy comely, perfect form;
Dear thine eye, blue-grey and clear,
Dear thy wisdom and thy speech”
Although this is deeply sweet I would also like to caution that Chuhulainn may have simply been commenting on his healthiness, but blush is an odd word considering he is now dead.
Two male lovers, one dead in the other’s arms. Soul friends, maybe. Reminds me of a certain show..I don’t know I just can’t put my finger on it...
I would also like to point out that because Celtics did not pressure others to have sex, and that a soul friend can be any type of love, I do think that an asexual or someone on that spectrum could live without judgment.Unfortunately, I could not find much about intersex, androgynous, or trans people. Perhaps if I find anything in the future and will make a new post.
In conclusion, if Merlin were more historicaly accurate, he definitely would have been queer. Especially because he is said to be magic itself, it would make sense for him to be the personification of Celtic values. That may include homosexuality, because as previously stated, Celtic men really liked other men.
I’m excited to see what will come of this post, seeing as not a lot of people in the fandom seem to know this. More fanfiction? More fanart? It would probably inspire a lot of creators. So, if you do make something because of this post, please notify me in the notes, an ask, an @ or something. Basically anything but a PM. I would be happy to see/read the creation.

@impossibletruths tagged me for Heads Up, Seven Up (thank you!), where you post the last seven sentences of a WIP, and I’m very excited because it’s rare for me to actually have a WIP to post about, so here, have the tail end of some kissing I guess:
Wei Wuxian smiles helplessly, half-hidden in Lan Wangji’s palm. “Ah, Lan Zhan, you really need to tell me ‘no’ sometimes, or I’ll end up going from bad to worse.”
“No,” Lan Wangji tells him, just to see that smile again, minnow-bright and just as fleeting.
Reluctantly, Wei Wuxian disentangles himself. “I really do need to head home if we’re meant to be in for six tomorrow,” he says, but he doesn’t leave. With careful fingers, he rearranges Lan Wangji’s collar, then, quick and furtive, leans in to kiss the hollow of Lan Wangji’s throat. Then he takes a step back and turns, disappearing into the night, leaving Lan Wangji standing there, fingertips resting on the imagined imprint of Wei Wuxian’s lips.
I need you to know that by the standards of my academic writing, these sentences are short and snappy af.
I’m honestly not sure I know seven people who write and might want to participate, but in a very no-pressure way: @trans-cuchulainn, @goingsparebutwithprecision, @comradegrantaire and anyone who sees this and would like to take part, consider yourself tagged!

Pg. 8: ♏Impurity’s Sampot♏
Tumblr media
“The world was more filled with impurity and corruption than even the gods dared imagine, and having swallowed it all, the once beautiful Cúchulainn was transformed into a hideous thing, a deity of filth, and so did he turn against his creators. Wherever his feet should fall, there all life withers to dust.”
Amidst the sea of duplicity, a solitary figure stands tall within the dross.  This is the Impurity’s Sampot, a bejeweled and distinguished garment created in the image of Cuchulainn, The Impure.
The pinnacle of Near Eastern and Far Eastern fashion, the sampot is a special gown worn by otherworldly beings known as Apsaras, Angels in the Thavnairian tongue.  It is usually worn by highly skilled and renowned dancers, narrating stories and plays through their movements and gestures.
Upon the headdress lies three circular decorations.  In the center lies the metasoma-shaped Scorpio Holy Stone, made from the purest Beryl, and brings the ensemble together as a whole.
Modeling for this masterwork is the Angel (or in this case, Apsara) known as Veeveena Veena, Main Branch Advisor of the Higuri Regalia, and a Thavnairian flower of peerless Lalafellin beauty.
The world of fashion is indeed filled with such filth that would make even the gods turn their head.  Those who would don the Impurity’s Sampot will bring it one step closer to cleanliness as the impure… becomes pure once more.

im really fond of saionji because he’s just so objectively pathetic like i hesitate to even call him outright evil the way akio is and touga by extension is for copying akio, he’s not actively looking to hurt or exploit people to feel powerful he’s just a moron and easily swayed so when akio is like hey if you buy into my illusion of masculinity and power you will get social prestige and influence he’s like oh boy, social prestige and influence! and because saionji is so bottom of the barrel he makes it really easy to see how pathetic that masculinity is because at his level you don’t buy into the illusion of power, but that also means it’s easy to dispel the illusion on his end because that system chews him out all the time too and that is in fact what starts happening near the end of the show where he grows more of a spine.
he’s not actively evil so much as maliciously ignorant so when he gets expelled and stays with wakaba for a while and effectively gets told “hey moron, it’s possible and in fact normal for people to help each other instead of constantly attempt to control each other to get ahead” he’s like ohhh okay. so even after mikage puts him back in the student council saionji doesn’t buy into it as much as before and akio has to take him on a sex car drive to remind him that women don’t have rights, actually, because he was already starting to drift away from that system but he’s so useful as a goon. he keeps questioning touga on whether touga really wants to keep dancing to akio’s tune.
by the end of the show he still doesn’t have enough of a spine to leave the way utena and anthy do but he no longer believes that this system will ever benefit him and is simply resentful about his inability to leave, and probably also resentful that the touga he looked up to so much as someone who has the answer to eternity can’t see that this whole system is a crock of shit which is why he strangles touga in their version of the sword drawing pose. presumably saionji’s parents were perfectly average bc they’re never brought up so he doesn’t get why touga keeps buying into this chain of abuse because he doesn’t know that touga literally has never met a functional non-abusive adult in his life. but on some level he did know something was off about touga so i think that also makes him hesitant to leave without touga. and in the end they’re back on their childhood bike pedaling for their lives but hardly moving forward.
they don’t even interact in the movie but you can still see that effect on him there too because touga wears all black to show he’s dead but both saionji and utena wear half black (while juri and miki have their signature colours) because they’re mourning him, and utena switches to her white duelist uniform halfway through (and then becomes anthy’s hot pink car) but saionji stays in black. he’s with juri and miki on the towcar to help anthy escape because like the two of them he doesn’t buy into the system anymore either, he’s just grieving touga’s death and unwilling to leave (the memory of) him behind so he too participated in the duel games meant to fill the void that the dead prince left.
anyway. i like the loser seaweed man. i won’t fix him he can fix his damn self. ten years from now he will lie awake haunted by the way he treated anthy.

tbh...I was rather iffy on the design at first because while she does look cute and I could see wearing it as an “endurance test” but this is just...no...
I can only imagine the Himalayas are freezing, and trotting around in a bikini and short robe is not smart. so she got a lengthened robe, sleeves, and pants like her tights. she mainly just needed bundling up and proper covering for the environment and her profession.

@aliceic also tagged me in another cool lookin thingy
Put your music on shuffle and answer the questions about each artist.
Yea alright.
Name of Artist: Emily King
What genre are they ? I’d probably describe her as a kind of neo-soul bluesy thing. Real nice.
How long have they been active ? idk uhhhh I just started listening to her. Wikipedia says since 2004.
Have you ever heard them on the radio ? I don’t think so. I only know who she is from @nospoonsgiven.
Have they released any new music within the last year or two ? Yeppo.
Do they have a male or female vocalist ? Lady.
Name of Artist: Cecile McLorin Salvant
Would you recommend them ? I’ve only listened to her latest album, the Window, but it’s very good
What is your favourite lyric of theirs ? Uhhh it’s all covers on that album. Not sure I could call any of them “hers”.
What are their album artworks like ? Vintage, artsy, jazzy
If they stopped making music, would you be sad ? I’d more be confused since she seems to be doing just fine. I don’t know that my attachment’s that deep yet but maybe.
If you didn’t know what they look like, based off their music, what you guess they looked like ? Lovely and soft. Sleek. Neat.
Name of Artist: The Pogues
How popular are they ? Uhhh I don’t think so.
Have you ever seen them perform live ? Nah.
How did you find out about them ? Lookin through songs about Cuchulainn, of course
What is their sexuality, if known ? No idea
Is their music easy to dance to ? If ya stomp a lot
Name of Artist: Laura Whittenberger
What instrument is the most prominent in their music ? I mean the only available album on Spotify is a compilation of Yeats poems set to music. I know she also does musical theatre but I can’t find the soundtrack for those. Most common on the Yeats album is probably harp and piano.
Does your family listen to them ? Pssh no.
Are they still making music today ? It just came out a few months ago!
Would you want to meet them ? I really don’t know anything about her but uhm she seems very tasteful, maybe.
How represented is this artist in your saved music / collection ? Just the one album on Spotify.
Name of Artist: Kate Bush
When did you discover them ? Maybe a couple of years ago? I don’t know. When did anybody discover Kate Bush?
How many albums do they have ? Uhhh I don’t wanna look that up.
Which member of the band is closest to your ‘type’ / do you find the most attractive ? Uhhh Kate Bush by default. I mean don’t get me wrong she’s very pretty. This kind of feels like a condescending way to talk about such an accomplished woman, though, I don’t like it.
Have they gone through any line-up changes ? Ha.
Is their music more fun or serious ? Shit can be both!
Name of Artist: The Beatles
Is the type of music / genre they play something you would typically enjoy or is their sound different for you ? I have to laugh. Of course! I grew up on em.
Based off of their sound, what would a human version of their music look like ? It would definitely have long brown hair. Be pretty eccentric.
Could you see yourself getting along with the members personally ? I don’t really like to think about it. Their lives have all been well-documented enough without me inserting myself into it & they’ve had their temperamental streaks. Never meet your heroes. (I mean, I’m not condemning them all as awful people but like, I’d really just, rather not know. There’s enough speculation about them out there, I think it’d be quite intimidating to meet any of them.)
Did somebody recommend this band to you ? I mean I guess. My parents and brothers listened to them before I was really old enough to have opinions about music. They weren’t so much recommended to me as much as I just, heard their music a lot and grew to like it.
Of all their songs, which would you play at a party ? I don’t wanna spoil the party so I’ll goooohohoho.... No idea. I guess Twist and Shout always gets things started.
Name of Artist: Robert Johnson
How many people are in this band/group ? Just the guy.
When did they start making music ? 1930s.
Do they have any well known songs, if so, which one(s) ? He’s more of a cult icon than he is a real superstar. Cross Road Blues and Me and the Devil Blues ain’t do that badly though.
Do you listen to this artist regularly ? Occasionally.
How would you describe their music ? Raw and ingenious.
Name of Artist: Billie Holiday
If they use a stage name, what is their real name(s) ? Eleanora Fagan.
Do they regularly make pop charts ? Not really a relevant question here, she’s a legend nonetheless.
Have you ever met them ? Could I! No. Unworthy.
If they toured in your city, would you go see them ? Really can’t imagine how that would go down.
Name of Artist: Elvis Presley
Are they known for anything else besides music ? Campy 60s movies set in Hawaii, being a piece of shit.
What is their nationality ? US American.
Are they a guilty pleasure ? I mean not really.
Which age group is this artist most popular with ? Used to be young people, now is old people.
Has this artist ever toured in your country/state/city ? Counting my city as Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America, then yes to all three.
Name of Artist: Astrud Gilberto
Do you think it’s necessary or important to know about their personal life to ‘understand’ their music ? I only know a little but what I’ve read online is very interesting.
Have they ever gone on hiatus and did they return ? I’m not up to date on all 50+ years she’s been famous for, I’m sorry.
What instruments do they use ? I don’t know that she plays any herself but, you know... typical bossa nova stuff.
What city are they from ? Salvador, Brazil.
What are your experiences with fans of this artist ? oh, you mean Helena @shecomesincolors? Wonderful! (That’s literally it, I don’t think I know anyone else who listens to her)
I’ll tag anyone I mentioned above, plus @bohemian-brian @a-stringofpearls @helloharing @tvoywonderwall @jewishusnavi and @down-among-the-dead-men

I hate that I feel the need to clarify my words in this graphic, but I want to make sure I’m not misunderstood. Your ancestry serves as a source of inspiration. You are NOT and can NOT be superior (or inferior) to ANYONE else based on who you’re descended from. That’s why bearing witness to great deeds (admiring the deeds of those that came before you) is not enough. You have to LIVE UP to those great people that came before you! The only thing that matters is what YOU do. How YOU live. Having a sense of superiority based on something you have no control over (who you were born to) and trying to piggy back on the great deeds of others is possibly the weakest thing I can think of. So don’t do that, and don’t twist my words. ➖ We are the children of those born of the frigid wind and the northern seas. Our bloodline carries the strength of those whose presence froze the blood of weaker men. It is not enough to bear witness to these deeds of strength and glory. You must carry the weight, and carry it well. For it all rests upon your shoulders. Do not weaken under the burden. Rise to the occasion, and join the league of your forebearers. ➖ #celtichammerclub #roots #family #folk #clan #ancestors #inspiration #strength #power #celt #celtic #norse #nordic #viking #vikings #bloodline #history #fenrir #fenris #wolf #wolves #thought #thoughts #existential #existentialism #originalart #original #originalwork #inspire #create #imagine #oldways #heathen #asatru #thor #odin #tyr #cuchulainn #finnmaccool (at Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/BrXZebeHv1g/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1d8gp1yawgzpf

I've gotten fond of Cu Chulainn (Lancer) from Fate/Grand Order (FGO) because he always saves my butt in fights. Naturally, this made me want to look into FFXIV's version of Cuchulainn some more despite knowing that he ended up being a Voidsent.
From Encylopedia Eorzea:
"One theory places the void's formation in the hands of champions such as Cuchulainn who wielded a stone known as "auracite" to conquer their plane's primals. The weapon, however, possessed a fatal imperfection: a propensity to bleed primal energies. With each victory, the heroes changed, transforming at last into fiends of endless appetite. Insatiable in their hunger for aether, they ultimately went to war over the star's ever-dwindling life force. It was during this war that the Flood of Darkness was unleashed."
I haven't gotten to the part in FGO where Berserker Cu Chulainn is introduced in FGO yet, but I imagine that Voidsent Cuchulainn is even worse than Berserker Cu.
I can already hear FGO's Cu Chulainn sputtering over this version of him, and saying something to the effect of, "W-what is... You know, thanks for killing that version of me. I don't ever want to see it in person."
And then I'll have to tell him I also killed that world's version of Scathach in Dun Scaith. :D And I also have a Gae Bolg Zenith weapon. (”H-hey, don’t get too cocky now!”)

Cuchulainn: How do they feel about the macabre? Does their idea of grotesqueness differ from that of others?Demon: Do they fear death? Would they seek immortality of some form to avert its cause? - for Dax
Dax considered this. “Oh I don’t mind a wee bit of spooky witchy trimmings but I draw the line at desiccated lizards on sticks love. That’s just taking things a wee bit to far. Now vaugely alchemical bits and bobs are right up my alley. And grotestue? No I wouldn’t say that I’m an indecent sort.”
Dax squinted, “Death? I don’t fear death no. Well that’s a bit untrue. I didn’t expect to be tossed off that airship, and it was a moment where I thought I’d bit it. But no, I don’t run from battle, but dying is something I’ll sort out when the time comes. And no I wouldn’t see immortality. Imagine what a wretch I’d be if I was immortal, why I would miss Poppet terribly.”
