It's Food History Friday. Let's talk about one of my favorite things, cheese fondue. The word fondue comes from the French word "fondre" meaning to melt. Cheese, wine, and garlic are the basic ingredients in fondue, but other ingredients such as herbs, paprika, nutmeg,  and mustard may be added. It was in Switzerland in the 18th century that fondue was created. The goal was to feed families who had limited access to fresh food in the winter. The cheese would age while the bread was getting stale. However, some brilliant folks discovered that if they heated the cheese with wine, garlic, and herbs the bread would soften with the cheesy mixture. The first known written recipe for fondue was in 18th century cookbooks in France and Belgium. Those recipes stated to use the very Swiss cheese, Gruyère,. America was introduced to fondue in 1964 at the New York World's Fair at the Swiss Pavilion Alpine restaurant. It’s a tradition that if a man drops his piece of bread in the fondue pot, he must buy a round of drinks. If a woman loses her bread in the pot, she must kiss all her neighbors.  Let's hope those neighbors are cute. There are variations on this, have some fun with it next time you get your fondue on! I’m Jay, a trans lesbian latinx woman and my partner and I are trying to escape a toxic home in Arizona. I am working full-time and because of my student loans, I make very little. I’ve been trying to find a new job but with all that’s happening, no jobs I am qualified to work are biting right now. My partner has severely reduced hours due to a lack of business lately so we are struggling on getting enough money to pay our bills, buy gas, or even food, much less being able to afford moving out. We’ve sold a lot of our things just to get as far as we have and it’s getting to the point where if we stay here much longer, we absolutely will not survive. We’ve had some very close calls and everyday things are getting worse.

If anyone can help us, even a bit, please send some money our way. If you can’t just please boost this post so we can get seen. We have no money at all and a new wave of bills are about to hit our account.

Our dog needs to see the vet

Our dog Zorro hasn’t been eating for the past several days and has been really lethargic lately. I’m super worried that something might be wrong with him in his old age and I need the money to get him to the vet as soon as possible. There is a place nearby that can see him and run tests for $100-120. If anyone could please send some money our way to help us take care of him, we’d greatly appreciate it. Any amount would help.

1. id have both of my ears doublepierced right now if not for an unfortunate occurrence in fifth grade where the back of one came loose and embedded its metal stick of pain into the flesh of my ear. I actually didn’t notice until class when I started fidgeting.

2. i was an infamous troll on perfect world international server Harshlands who was first known for slaughtering low level pvpers and talking shit on world chat and then later known for being uncatchable by those players as they swiftly outleveled me and sought revenge.

3. i once convinced a 27 year old fluent french speaker from canada that i could speak french using only a google translator and whatever tips he himself gave me to improve my grammar. I was 16.

4. ive faked my death, and when caught provided such a convincing excuse that the people i was talking to actually provided a suspect for the situation that none of us had contact with. How convenient.

5. i found porn on the internet within a day of receiving access to it. It was entirely an accident, I was looking for flash games suitable for little girls.

I love ice cream so much, I may need to be in a support group. It's no secret that I'm a big fan of Magnum night cream.  It's luxury ice cream that's affordable and easy to find at the grocery store. Last night I tried their Double Chocolate and Ganache ice cream tub. Think chocolate ganache sauce oozing though milk chocolate ice cream with pieces of milk chocolate surrounded by a shell  of milk chocolate.BOOM! Oh the decadence of it all. If you are a fan of chocolate, it's the kind of ice cream that you have to try at least once. But you will go back for more. Happy National Devil's Food Cake Day! Can you dig it?! The devil is different from regular chocolate cake by being darker, more moist, and richer. Meow! The cake originated in the south, but no one knows for sure how the cake got its name. Some say it's from the sinful chocolate. Eating a slice just may make you feel a little naughty. 👿 If you are gonna do the devil, I recommend Duncan Hines. Great mixes and frosting that taste like you made everything from scratch. I don't have time to bake today so over the weekend, I will be making cupcakes then eating while watching Lucifer on Netflix.
