“Hunting season”

This episode revolves around the relationship between elder kettle and the brothers (also on my personal hc about cuphead)

The episode starts as elder kettle and the brothers running an errand at porkrind, as the kettle and porkrind talk, porkrind mentions that there’s several reindeer in these woods and that the hides are worth a hefty price. So elder kettle seeks it as an opportunity for some cash, and takes the boys with him to hunt the deer, and to “toughen them up.” Which leads to a conversation between Mugman and the kettle, saying both him and cuphead are a bit different from the other kids, and that it’s ok to be sensitive, and how elder kettle should actually listen to what the boys have to say more. In which elder kettle ignores.

Cuphead is more excited than anyone because he loves deer. But that causes some miscommunication with him and elder kettle.

Much to cuphead’s distraught, it was not a deer-watching trip.

And much to elder kettle‘a distraught, deer were cuphead’s favorite animal.

They begin bickering, but they become separated after a hungry pack of wolves find them, causing a scramble. Elder kettle and Mugman make it back home, but cuphead is still in the woods. Mugman forces elder kettle to go back outside and find cuphead.

After lots of searching, and self questioning on of he really does know his boys, he finds cuphead. Cuphead is fine, but a baby deer from the herd they saw earlier is injured.

Elder kettle urges cuphead to go home, but cuphead refuses to leave the calf alone. Elder kettle eventually feels guilty and agrees to help the calf.

With bandaging methods he learned during his time in war, he patches up the calf, and lets it find its mother after cuphead says a final goodbye.

On the walk home, elder kettle apologizes to cuphead for his behavior, in which cuphead forgives him.

The rest of the walk, the two laugh and talk as boy and elder.

I feel like most people don't take this seriously but I keep thinking about the fact Mr Chimes canonically doesn't have eyes daily and I think I might have a theory why and how it comes to be so, even though and especially when he's based on puppets/toys that have eyeballs that he technically should have.

This might be more casino related and a little off but I still want to share this: We all know Mr Chimes is a toy and not actually alive, which also goes for, for example, Dr. Kahl's robot. The robot is not alive and doesn't have a soul to sell, that's why, once the deal was made, it was Kahl's soul being involved. It was the doctor's soul that would land in the Devil's hands afterwards, however, not his robot's. Chimes is a cymbal-banging toy and he's most likely to not being able to own a spirit either, that's what makes me think: what if, in order to make a deal (whatever it's supposed to be about) with the Devil he needed to give away something else instead of his soul, perhaps, in fact, HIS OWN EYES?? (Or maybe promise to work at the casino forever as well?)

It would make sense since the Devil has his own collection of eyes. Most belong to demons but who knows... maybe he also keeps Chimes' eyes there?

I doubt anyone would want to read this and I'm sorry this turned out so long but maybe it makes a little sense in some kind of way.🙏

Devil Theory

This is an idea I've had for a while now about the inhabitants of hell. How hell became the way it is. And why stickler looks different from the imps. Remember those really cool tapestry that the devil has in his throne room?

Well, my theory is these tapestries are meant to represent how the devil became king of hell and what happened to the demons before his reign and how hell became the way it did. I think what happened after he fell from heaven he went on a rampage destroying all of the demons that lived in hell except for very few that managed to survive. As seen in the left and right tapestry the devil's surroundings are very dimly lit and not on fire as we see hell in the present. I think those two represent how early hell looked before the devil took over. And the middle one represents the end of his rampage and how he was starting to make hell to his liking.

Something I noticed about these tapestries is the demons look nothing like the imps we see i the present.

These demons have their own unique features and are very different from the imps that we've seen in the show. They are also being eaten, tortured, and burned alive from the devil. My theory is that after he fell the devil went on a rampage killing most of the demon population around him. And after his rampage was over, he decided to repopulate hell by creating imps in his own image.

I mostly came up with this theory because, I thought it was cool. I also thought it would kind of explain why the imps look like the devil and why they're the only demons besides stickler and the finest demons and the guard demons look different. I also think stickler and those others look different cause they are some of the only "real" demons left. Further evidence of this is dd confirmed stickler isn't an imp.

I'm pretty sure we (cuphead fandom) know about the game theory that the cups are filled with moonshine... well... that made me wonder if Cuphead was drunk while making the deal... I don't know where he got it from, but I'm guessing he stole it from Porkbrin's Emporium... idk, but it sounds like something he'd do...

Just a reminder we still haven’t seen the episode where this frame is from;

I still say this is a scene between the devil and king dice. Some of my friends think it’s a deleted frame from cupstaged. But I’m not so sure, to me it seems like it’s to detailed to be from a deleted scene. Like it’s ready to be animated you know. I could be wrong I’m not sure how that kind of stuff works but still. Plus, if it was part of a deleted scene someone would have said something by now. I hope they #renewthecupheadshow so we can find out what’s happening in this scene.

So I’ve rewatched Indie Cross several times over now and I’m super curious about the machines.

They all seem to be the same kind of thing, and Charlotte is very obviously lying about something.

Both Charlotte and the Rogues seem to have the goal of destroying worlds, since Charlotte’s first scene was literally turning Shovel Knight’s world into magma, and the Rogues destroyed the world the characters met on. I don’t think charlotte is on the protags’ sides, especially since her drones have been attacking protags outside the main group, and were waiting menacingly around Shovel Knight’s home portal, presumably to kill him as soon as he’s out of sight from the others. She was probably hoping to pick them off so she didn’t have to fight them all head on.

Another thing: the Game Master’s transformation. Charlotte’s drones literally ripped it apart, only to.. power it up? to attack charlotte?? I have no idea what was going on there. I was thinking it was to get charlotte more power from absorbing the game master, but why couldn’t she just do that directly from her own drones? To keep her cover? Maybe she was gauging threat levels or using it as distraction to grab the sun (which is currently mia 😬)

Also, I’m not sure the portals are as uncontrollable as Charlotte says they are, since we see Springtrap (Not a Machine) use them very effectively to teleport the animatronics around.

Charlotte and the Rogues also seem to already know all the characters, their world events, and their abilities, which makes me wonder how much of this “random” teleportation is actually random. I assume at least some of it is because of Cuphead’s adventures, but these machines sure seem to know a lot about our characters for people who weren’t expecting them 🤨

Idk, I’m kinda just spitballing here. I fucking love this series so far, and it’s super cool that it has an actual intriguing plot and characterization! It’s not just lame ass power scaling yk? :)

I honestly wish we got more elder kettle episodes not because he’s amazing (he is) but I wish we got some episodes where he spent one-on-one time with either of the brothers.

We see sometimes that he does indeed spend time separately with them (ex: him and cuphead going for errands) but there’s never a full episode surrounded by one brother.

Maybe the episode could’ve been about a hobby or passion that him and one of the boys shared, maybe it could’ve been about him being distant with one of them, and spends one-on-one time to get to know them by themself?

If you had to write an episode on elder kettle spending one-on-one time with one of the boys, which boy would it be? What do you think they’d do?
