Ever since the ghibli AI thing. I’ve come to realize when people say ”I can’t draw” they either mean

I don’t find it fun (valid everyone has different interests)

I try to draw but I feel an internal and/or external pressure to be as good as the people around me. I prioritize the results over the process and gets mad when it doesn’t match the results. My fear of failure is why I don’t like hobbies which can easily become competitive.

And does group 2 know that. Every artist was once unable to draw well. We just liked drawing and continued that. We continued painting. I was in that situation where I was like ”my drawing skill sucks! I am a good writer but I can’t draw” but I continued. I made things I found to be fun. I kept drawing as a hobby for myself. Yeah yeah I did get hate comments like ”is that supposed to be a joke”. But I continued. Yeah I do struggle with some things. But i still practice them.

And there are several ways to express yourself which doesn’t include drawing/painting. Like writing, sculpting, music, etc.

Like the problem isn’t your art, it is societies expectations. Yeah only a few will be as big as Caravaggio or Michelangelo, but remove that pressure to be at the top of the top. And if you feel the need to use AI as a hobby artist because you aren’t good enough, then you need to realize that there is nothing bad about not being good enough. It is okay to be flawed. Be a passionate armature instead of a struggling perfectionist.
