On the one hand yes, Daniel absolutely robbed Renault blind (king shit), but on the other hand have we considered the fact that Cyril was in love with him and would have bought Daniel the moon if he asked? 🤔

When I think about Cyril and his sexy braided black and yellow belt and the way he wanted Daniel so bad that he willingly made a fool out of himself in front of Christian Horner and Netflix’s cameras and the smile on his face when Daniel told him he left a little something for him on his desk and how heartbroken he was when Daniel decided to leave and the way he did curse Daniel that he would regret this (which he did. oh he did) and yet, he put all that aside to give Daniel the credit and farewell he deserved by standing in front of 2x wdc Fernando Alonso and told him point-blank that he had big shoes to fill now that Daniel was leaving …

Was it an imperfect relationship because Cyril made promises that he knew he’d never be able to keep and did Daniel end up wary of Cyril once he realised that his house of dreams was just built on lies? Yeah, but Cyril gave Daniel exactly what he needed in that moment — the opportunity and confidence to be a team leader (something that red bull was denying him), the unwavering implicit trust in what he needed and said. If Daniel said the brakes were not good, then the brakes were not good.

To think what they could have achieved together if the pandemic hadn’t happened … they would have been each other’s saviour …
