Hikaru's personality + Characteristics (C) ME / @koushirouizumi {Epilogue!Hikari inspired Look + Outfit by Toei} Hikaru's overall personality was intended slightly more expressive. [Hikaru is in (Junior) High school in "COF"]

"DemiSilVmon" & "DemiGoldVmon" were ideas I had when I was Young Me.

Oh and this is Hikaru's Crest since before 2010 by the way...: {Art by Skye G.} (Yeah, it was also B.S.S.M Inspired) (It was the only Crest with this type of design at time too others did use similar themes but rarely the actual image.)

The "V" sign is swapped with primary colors intentionally ("red" for SilV = a 'hidden' passionate + fiery side; "blue" for GoldV = a 'hidden' sensitive, compassionate side; SilV is originally overall portrayed as "calm, quiet, sweet" while GoldV is originally portrayed as "outgoing, lively, jokes a lot" but both had 'hidden' sides of them too that would be revealed in time. GoldV's 'Adult'-level form is "GoldVdramon" from the T.C.G.) Silver and Gold V-mon designs in this combination did NOT exist prior to me requesting these arts from people I knew of the time. I know that for a fact because I heavily researched existing 02 sites that existed in the Western fan base during this time-frame. {My site was among the very first 02 O.C.s sites. No one else {almost no one} at time paired their O.C. with Daisuke specifically as a (major) lead} 02 had finished airing. There was at least one other person involving Daisuke in an "FDD" {Fictional Digi-Destined and Dgmn} fic but Daisuke was definitely not the lead, they were more like a "side pairing" {02!Takeru was often heavily the "lead" chara + ship-involved; in old O.C. F.D.D sites.}

SilV's eyes were originally blue; GoldV's green; but lately I've been considering swapping them both to Brown [GoldV was originally meant to parallel GoldV-dramon overall] but I didn't like the bright red eyes that GoldV had in the OG T.C.G back then which was why I chose the same red for SilV's "V" instead. (The vividness of the "red" often was/is a kind that hurts my eyes if I stare at it too hard or long and GoldV-dramon's look was "focused".) Since then a newer one has GoldV-dramon looking more tolerable to me there as the vividness of the eyes isn't as intense as the old art. (SilV meanwhile was meant to show differences to GoldV) {Mainly in personality but also with a different color design!} But GoldVdramon has a new art or two lately I can edit?... SilV's evo line is also different; may or may not have an alt "SilV-dramon" form which doesn't exist officially, but also has an evo line concept {still in development to this day} inspired by {J E W I S H} interpretations of spirits, "angels" and such.)

Hikaru "looks like" Hikari for reasons, but NOT the reasons you're thinking, most likely... (In reality, they do have very obvious differences more up close, which Daisuke will come to recognize over time too.) A notable difference is Hikaru's hair is meant to be overall more obviously curlier and a darker shade, or more like simply Black, than Toei portrayed Hikari as (Since y'know Hikaru is partly based of MeTM and I have such hair...) Back then when I made requests however I wasn't as specific as I should have been, and people I requested from maybe took "looks like Hikari" a bit too literally (not their fault!)

BlackTail icons were edited by ME. (Based on "B.S.S.M" {Luna}) {DO NOT COPY} {DO NOT re-post} Back then I was originally under the impression these Face-blinking icons were free for anyone to use or edit since many J.P.N fan-sites + web-rings of the era did the same with them, but since then I only use things + icons I specifically requested back then.

For example:

{Spirit Evolution!} I requested this from someone on "With the Will" forum but since then lost their name... This icon is ALSO NOT TO BE USED or re-produced! It was more meant as just a visible representation; GoldV isn't necessarily a "slide" evo of SilV lol. (I was still working on SilV's evolution line concepts!!)

The one of Hikaru with Jounouchi ("Joey") was requested towards the end of my old site being removed during a web-purge, and someone who did art had their requests open. At the time I was also super into Y.G.O D.M. still and thus requested O.C. with my Y.G.O D.M. Fav, also because "COF"'s anniversary was basically Jounouchi's bday. (Jan. 25th circa pre 2010 02 fan-base era)

This is marked 'no rb' for now, but I might make it re-bloggable in the future.

At the time I heavily paired O.C. with eventual Epilogue!Daisuke. Things here with them both were meant as mainly, Friendship and both having mutual starting crushes on each other. (Top left is my edit attempt of 4th img; I was using it for a page to store these requests.) Since the fic takes place jumping around their later high school years, by the middle and end of the wider story, the Epilogue is starting to come into play, but a wider plot is also happening.

This is the fic that spun off my never-ending love for Koushiro (Koushiro's arc was right in the middle of everyone else's; and the development of ideas was IMMENSE from there.) {02 Fan-base has Always Existed!} 2nd by: Tiara 3rd by: Kari A. 5th & 6th by: Alana D. 7th by: Jenn M. 8th by: Liliy

The story has long since been offline; (I might have also lost a final draft of the last chapter... but I do have an original finished draft and thus) 'Parts' of the original plan are being slowly inserted into my Kou+Tai A.U. "The Past World".

ALSO, at some point, I was then diagnosed "A U T I S T I C" and Hikaru TOO was eventually going to be portrayed AS SUCH; but my site got deleted via web-purges and was barely hanging on by threads in my later Angelfire imgs archive :') :')

Sometime after I finished some later schooling I made the "One Week" A.M.V. KouTai + Koushiro in general came back around to TAKE OVER and Koushiro now has starring role too {Koushiro just mainly appears by Koushiro's middle arc!!} (There was buildup in the early arcs for KouTai's story though!)

One (Semi-obscure) Fact About Every Guilty Gear Character

I like trivia. And I like Guilty Gear. Being a series that’s been around for the better part of two decades, it’s only natural there’s some details that are less known about. So I wanted to make a silly little compilation about that, inspired by ‘One Obscure Fact About Every Total Drama Character’ by voiceunderthecovers on Youtube. 

As the title suggests, I also specifically did my best to pull out facts that may be less known even to fans of the series, so ideally there’s no ‘Sol is based on Freddie Mercury’-tier stuff here. I tried to find something interesting for everyone!

Characters are listed in order of their first playable games

Missing Link

Sol Badguy- Sol was originally meant to be voiced by actor Koichi Yamadera rather than developer Daisuke Ishiwatari, but given the developer's budget at the time, he would have been too expensive to afford

Ky Kiske- While Ky has been consistently voiced by Takeshi Kusao for the entire series' run in Japanese, he has been given a different voice actor for every dubbed game for both the English and Korean versions. This means that Ky has had seven official voice actors in total, making him among the highest of the cast alongside Testament

May- May is one of only a few characters in the series to have a tattoo, and only one of two where it is not implied or indicated to be magical in some way, alongside Potemkin's barcode

Potemkin- Several of Potemkin's moves across games reference Hinduism. Strive's 'Garuda Impact' is named after a birdlike demigod that acts as a mount for Vishnu, while Xrd SIGN's 'Trishula' is named for a divine trident-like weapon wielded by the god Shiva

Chipp Zanuff- According to prototype and side materials, Chipp is 22 years old as of Missing Link.

Faust- Possibly to go along with his nature of being a doctor with the desire to treat anyone he comes across, Faust's blood type is O, the universal donor

Axl Low- Axl claims the specific date he desired to return to was May 14, 1998. This is the same date that Missing Link was released in Japan

Millia Rage- According to her Xrd SIGN story mode, Millia's favorite flower is the Easter Lily

Zato-1- Based on his abduction dialogue in Strive, Zato believes in aliens

Kliff Undersn- Despite being removed from the Wii version of XX Accent Core, along with Justice, both their names and endings remain in the game's code. They also both contain original art that had never been used up to that point

Testament- The twin demons that Testament summons in Strive are the same singular familiar they possessed in prior games, simply named ‘Succubus,’ possibly split into two entities similarly to Ramlethal's familiar Lucifero

Justice- In Missing Link, Justice was voiced by Arc System employee Takuya Morito, who also voiced Chipp

Baiken- Baiken was initially a difficult character to include in the series, as due to being an amputee, it brought up issues with compliance standards at the time

X

Anji Mito- one of his aliases, Hirasawa, was actually planned to be his name during the start of X's development

Venom- During the winpose where he spins his cue, it is able to interact with any remaining balls that are still set up nearby

Johnny- Johnny is implied to have a close history with Gig, the main antagonist of the DS spinoff game Guilty Gear Dust Strikers

Jam Kuradoberi- In Blazblue, Litchi Faye-Ling's theme 'Oriental Flower' is a remix of her X theme, 'Babel Nose'

Dizzy- In the Guilty Gear XX Burst Encyclopedia, full-bodied sketch concepts exist for her wing entities, Necro and Undine. It is unknown currently if the designs were ever meant to be implemented into the game or if they were simply unused concepts

Bridget- Bridget’s usage of a yo-yo as a weapon was inspired by a world-class yo-yoer that Daisuke Ishiwatari knew during the development of XX

Slayer- In SIGN, Slayer is shown to be able to control his limbs even after being severed

Zappa- In his Accent Core character art, Zappa is drawn with six fingers on his right hand. This has never appeared before or since, and is likely just an error. However, in some circles, six fingered-hands are viewed as spiritually significant

I-no- Her main guitar weapon, 'Marlene,' closely resembles the real-life Starplayer TV model manufactured by German company Duesenberg. One of her design inspirations, Sheena Ringo, owned a similar guitar, which she referred to as 'Dietrich.' Collectively, both may be a reference to German actress Marlene Dietrich

Robo-Ky- In #Reload, Robo-Ky is unique in that he has two separate standard match themes, with a day version and a night version depending on what round is occurring

Overture

Sin Kiske- In all of his playable appearances, Sin has never been depicted wearing socks

Izuna- Despite often being assumed to be a kitsune due to his foxlike ears, it is implied through his story in the Overture Original Material Collection that Izuna is actually a tsukumogami made from a hairpin

Dr. Paradigm- Prior to Strive bringing back several actors from SIGN, Paradigm was the only character to have a consistent dub voice, retaining the same actor in SIGN that he did in Overture

Raven- The portraits used for his non-playable appearance in XX are traced from the illustrations used in the side novel Lightning the Argent

Xrd

Bedman- He shares his voice actor with the character Marth from the Fire Emblem series in both his original Japanese and English dub voices, Hikaru Midorikawa and Yuri Lowenthal respectively

Ramlethal Valentine- Ramlethal is the only Xrd Valentine to not be associated with a holiday

Elphelt Valentine- Elphelt is the only playable female character depicted wearing earrings. There are more playable men in Guilty Gear that wear them than women.

Leo Whitefang- The PS3 console version of Xrd SIGN contains unused prototype art for an alternative version of Leo's character portrait

Jack-O Valentine- Similarly to Elphelt and Ramlethal, Jack-O is mechanically unusual as a character, in her case due to her servant-summoning mechanic. It is often believed that this is a reference to the tower-defense style gameplay of Overture, where the original Valentine appeared.

Kum Haehyun- Haehyun only speaks with her own voice during her outro animation. All of her other dialogue is spoken through her mech

Answer- Possibly as a way of properly proportioning the third lens of his glasses, Answer's model contains a second nose above the first. This was left in place and simply made invisible rather than be removed in the final version

STRIVE

Nagoriyuki- Though he was teased in the very first trailer for Guilty Gear Strive at EVO 2019, he remained unnamed for almost a year until his official trailer was released along with Leo’s in July 2020

Giovanna- Despite it being her debut game, across the entire script of Strive's story mode, Giovanna only has 22 lines of spoken dialogue, totaling 157 words overall. For reference, Sol speaks more than that during his first 10 lines

Goldlewis Dickinson- Along with Bridget, Delilah, and the Valentines, Goldlewis is one of the few characters who canonically has a sibling

Happy Chaos- In Baiken's Strive DLC trailer, an error occurs near the beginning where during a brief pan along the character's name, a trait consistent along all of the Seaon 1 DLC trailers, it erroneously reads as 'Happy Chaos' rather than 'Baiken.' It is unknown how this mistake occurred or made it to the final version, though it was fixed by the next installment, as Testament's trailer lacks this error

Delilah- Her English voice actor, Jessica DiCicco, voiced another adolescent telekinetic, Franke Athens, in the cult classic game Psychonauts

That Man- With his full name being given as Asuka R. Kreutz, he is one of only two characters to be given a middle initial, alongside Bedman

What if Hanzo was in MK1...? So entering the Mortal Kombat fandom via the Jin Sakai -> Daisuke Tsuji -> Kuai Liang -> Subscorp pipeline has been interesting to say the least, and now that I have bingewatched compilations of the whole timeline(s) and understand why some people are upset about Kuai Liang being Scorpion instead of Hanzo, I offer my alternative MK1 story, which does feature Hanzo as Scorpion:

Hanzo grows up in the same village as Raiden and Kung Lao, but he is more of a loner so we don't see him until they arrive at Madame Bo's, where they have a friendly sparring session (FIGHT!)

He is practising with his kunai because ~fanservice~, like Kung Lao with his hat

Enter the Lin Kuei - Smoke, Sub-Zero and Tundra

Bi-Han and Kuai Liang are presented as mirrors/twins rather than opposites - both cryomancers, both wearing blue

Hanzo makes a remark that they are impossible to keep apart (~fanservice~ and ~foreshadowing~)

Smoke has something to do because it is now three against three instead of three against two (FIGHT)

Hanzo goes to train for the tournament with Raiden and Kung Lao. He remarks that it is ridiculous that the fate of Earthrealm rests on a stupid tournament

Bi-Han and Hanzo have a fight. Bi-Han is angry that Liu Kang picked five random dudes for the tournament instead of him, while Hanzo thinks that the Lin Kuei are all pricks

Kuai Liang breaks up the fight and apologizes to Hanzo, and they have a tentative relationship (and a friendly sparring session? FIGHT!)

The tournament happens

At one point during a Tragic Moment TM Hanzo releases his pyromancer/Hellfire powers

My thoughts about the next parts are not yet concrete. Does Hanzo join Johnny, Kenshi and Kung Lao on their mission? Does he join the Lin Kuei? Subscorp shippers (and others) help me out here!!

Mr. Rad Guy, I've wanted to get your opinion on something for a while now, and finally snagged what I was looking for on twitter. I normally don't pay any of those transphobic Bridget discourse peddlers any mind, but they bring up her appearence in the canon pachinko game Vastege as supposed "proof" that Strive's story direction for her is a contradictory retcon. This game's plot takes place just three months before Xrd's, and they claim that through her voicelines she is still insisting sternly that she's a man and not to call her cute, but also that she STILL hasn't broken her village's superstition at this point in time. This is the only image they ever have as so-called evidence, so I wanted to see if you know if these lines are legitimately in the game, scrapped content, or made up altogether. I don't trust these lunatics as far as I can throw them when it comes to telling the whole truth 🤨

This screenshot is from same manuscript of dialog that is in the lore server archives and in the GG VXT archive pack that I compiled and uploaded to Archive.org. As far as I know, these lines were all used in the game and no unused lines have been (or even could be) datamined. Two of the lines here are highlighted so I'm assuming they're the ones these dorks are using to try to prove their point. I've translated them.

First line:

I want to break the village's rule/law*, and return to the village as a young man.

*In the official localizations I think they might translate this as "tradition" or "superstition" instead of rule or law.

"Young man" in that line is 男の子 (otokonoko). Do not let anyone convince you Bridget is using the other otokonoko there (男の娘；"young man with a feminine aesthetic"). They like to do that a lot, argue that it's the one that uses 娘.

Second line:

Cute is uncalled for... I'm a man.

In conclusion: Yes. Bridget is using almost 1:1 recycled dialog in Vastedge that she used in XX and the spinoffs. The Twitter grifters' Google Translating was correct this time.

Vastedge's plot may take place only 3 months before Xrd, but Vastedge itself came out in 2013—8 entire years before Strive released in 2021. A lot can change in 3 months in real life, but after almost a decade most people are entirely different altogether (wrt Daisuke and his plot decisions). Also it's a friggin pachislot machine lmfao Like, are people really expecting something as earth shattering as a character as irrelevant to the general plot like Bridget suddenly stopping all of the action to explore her identity on a slot machine? I have no patience for these people anymore. They're just stupid and arguing because they have no hobbies.

There's also the fact that Daisuke originally planned for Bridget to be a cis girl until the very last minute. So if anything her coming out in Strive was just returning to the starting concept. He mentions this in the interview in the back of Artworks of Guilty Gear X 2000-2004. Translation by fairymisao.

(27)---The character Bridget, introduced in Guilty Gear XX, looks like a girl but is actually a boy, right? What was your intention in deciding on creating this kind of character? Ishiwatari: The creation of Bridget as a boy happened at the very last second; during development I was drawing him as purely a girl. It's just that when there is a need to give a worldly backbone (to the game), in order for me to try to not forget each character, and in order to revive the character, I give them my very heart. As a result, the creation of Bridget as actually a boy instead of a girl was because I thought he could become my alter ego. [...]

It's also important to note that Vastedge was the first thing ASW made for Guilty Gear after getting the full rights to the IP back from Sega after the Sega-Sammy merger in 2011 (which they had started to lose a bit before Overture's release in 2004). They were absolutely more focused on making something that would generate income and looked flashy than they were a compelling cinematic experience.
