Damien stood staring at y/n from a distance, leaning against a nearby wall and occasionally taking a sip from his red solo cup. Which was filled with horrible tasting cheap beer. Damien liked to people watch, even though it seemed odd to, he felt comfort in doing so. Although, would it count as people watching if he was just watching one person?

He watched as she danced around the room, jumping around and singing along to the songs. He wasn’t one to admire from a far, if this person was just aperson, he would’ve walking up to them and made small talk. Maybe going back to ones house for the night. But no, this was the person. 

Damien remembers it like it was yesterday. The way she looked when it happened, happy and care free. Then the tears covering her face in a blink of an eye. He still feels regret about what he said, if he hadn’t been so young, so dumb. He could tell she was angry, so angry she couldn’t speak. Young Damien couldn’t find it in himself to say anything to at least try and make up for his mistake. ‘It was the right thing to do.’ he remembers thinking to himself. 

Oh how stupid he was. Letting her go.

So there he stood, person watching. Drinking his disgusting beer, regretting past relationships, and sulking in the corner of the room. Watching as she bloomed. He hated himself for it, he hated the way he still loved her. He hated how much of in idiot he was. Therapy does funny things to you when you’re finally in a better head space. Damien finds himself wondering if she ever wondered why he never soothe her fevers, why they never tied her shoes, and why he never held her gently. Damien hated making her feel that way, he wished to be her anchor.

A/N: I knew I wanted to do a Courtney blurb sooner than later in my prompt notebook series. I like how this one turned out. It reminds me of my work for Break Even (Courtney x reader closure fic, link found in my masterlist). Idon’t write for her a lot...which astounds me because she is a National Treasure.

Summary: Mid morning coffee and gossip. Reader really needs a vacation.

   “I’m sorry...did you say ‘an open packet of mustard in his back pocket’?”

   “Yeah. I took my hand out and just walked away.” Courtney was telling Y/n a story about a former bad date. They were standing near the coffee supplies of the office kitchen, getting their refills for the mid-morning schedule.

   “What could he possibly have hoped to successfully get away with by having a leaking condiment packet in his trousers?!” Y/n raised an eyebrow while trying not to giggle at her friend’s expense.

   Courtney finished adding her dairy substitute to her oddly tooth-shaped mug. “I don’t know but I was ready to time travel away from there. It was all sticky and warm.”

   “Oh. Ewwww.”

   The women finished fixing their drinks and made to leave the kitchen before the actress stalled them.

   “So, super curious…” Courtney started. “Do you know when Damien is supposed to fly back into L.A.?”

   The look on Y/n’s face was incredulous. “Why does everyone keep asking me that? Is my new identity ‘Keeper of Damien Haas’ Schedules’?”

   “No! Sorry, it’s just...you seem to know all of the little bits of his life that no one else seems to know. It’s very reminiscent of Olivia...but only with Damien.”

   Y/n rolled her eyes. “It’s not against the law to know the little things about someone. I don’t need to be supervised when it comes to Damien.”

   Courtney’s eyes were wide as she silently looked at Y/n. The latter scrunched her face up and groaned.

   “Sorry, Court. I have no clue what THAT was about.”

   The actress took a small sip from her mug and walked past her friend. “Mhm. That was completely normal.”

Story Update!!

Hey y'all! The Damien Haas x Original Character story is almost done (it just HAAS to be edited) and will be posted shortly! A few notes before we move on to the fun stuff...

1- The story was not meant to be released, it was just supposed to be a fun thing for myself. This being said, the protagonist is very largely based off of me. The name is different now, obviously (I used a friend's name instead without their knowledge 😳), but I still tried to make this character relatable, even though there are characteristics of myself. (Sorry for just repeating the same thing, lol)

2- This story is very long. I get very detailed oriented and I love to dive into the background and flashbacks, so buckle up for some wild rides and long, slightly gramatically incorrect sentencces.

3- This story isn't super accurate. I tried, but I don't know everything, despite being a 4-year-long fan 🙃

4- I have a lot of ideas for little blurb stories that would be based off of mostly o.c.'s and Damien's memories, moments that were glazed over in the story, or cute things that I thought would be fun to add but didn't wrote in because time :/

5- I'm hoping to write more stories that will go farther into the o.c. and Damien's relationship, so the ending is kinda disappointing, but a solid ending if I end up not writing more.

With Netflix slowing down in Europe due to overwhelming demand, I was thinking, has anyone been hoarded books for this outbreak? Toilet paper. Hand sanitizer. Milk. Those things I know people have been buying by the covered wagon load. But given that we’ve seen how other countries are holing their citizens up in buildings and telling them to stay put, you would think that people would raid their local libraries and books stores beforehand and just buy out the place. Have they’ve been doing that and I simply haven’t seen this in action myself? 

I grabbed a stack last week, just in case. My list is;

Moments in my writing life after which everything was different - Chuck Palahniuk (A writing advice book by Palahniuk. Oh, you know this is going to be at the very least, interesting...)

High Magic - Damien Echols (Yeah, that Damien Echols. Very curious about this book.)

Fire Season - Stephen Blackmoore (Yes, I know I’ve been putting this one off. I love the series but I keep on stumbling onto other books. And I actually bought this copy from Barnes and Noble rather borrow it from the library like the rest on this list. So, I feel less guilty about picking borrowed books over it. But I will start and finish it now that I have a glut of time on my hands.)

Burn the Dark - S.A. Hunt (The back blurb sold me on it. A youtube star who is actually a witch hunter.)

Qualityland - Marc-Uwe Kling (I just started reading a few pages of it. And it’s just....weird. So, I am sold.)

The Silver Bear - Derek Haas (I started with the last book of this series. Loved it and now I am working my way back.)

That should keep me busy for a while. I have a few more waiting in the wings just in case. (Read: a ton of DC/Vertigo comics with Constantine in them.) But this is what I have immediately to read. So, who else has a stuck in the house reading list? What is on it? Share yours.

Damien was in the middle of streaming when the door to his bedroom opened. Y/N stood there looking tired, her hair messy and a pout on her lips, dressed in the largest of Damien’s hoodies that she could find and looking completely and utterly adorable.

The distraction of her entrance caused Damien to loose the level, which he only really took any notice of as a result of the comments in his stream practically shouting it at him.

“Sorry guys! Got a little distracted,” he said apologetically, his eyes continually moving over to look at Y/N who continued to stand in the doorway. 

Y/N seeme to think for a moment before sighing and moving further into the room.

“Babe? What’re you doing?” Damien laughed when Y/N moved to stand in front of him but Y/N paid no attention to him, climbing onto his lap and wrapping herself around his body. Damien grinned, dropping a kiss to the top of her head. “You okay?”

“‘M tired,” she muttered in response.

“Comfortable?” Y/N made a noise of agreement and Damien smiled fondly down at her, kissing her head again before turning back to the chat, which had exploded with comments relating to Y/N’s sudden appearance, many of them exclaiming over how sweet the couple was. “Yeah so… for anyone confused, this is my girlfriend,” he said, gesturing awkwardly down at Y/N, who peeked over towards the camera and gave a little wave before returning to her previous position with her face completely hidden in his chest.

“Can I sit here?” Y/N was pleasantly surprised by Damien’s presence next to her table in the coffee shop.

The two of them had a few lectures together and a few mutual friends meaning that they often wound up at the same parties running in the same circles, but it had only been a few months ago that they had begun talking. Before that, they had stuck to awkward, longing looks across the lecture halls.

It was clear that both of them liked each other and deep down they were aware of the other’s feelings but they were both shy and awkward people when it came to expressing romantic feelings towards other people and so had instead settled for the cliche looks across the lecture theatre at each other.

But then their mutual friends Courtney (who was rooming with Y/N) and Shayne (Damien’s roommate) had pushed them to talk to each other at a party a few months ago and since they had started to sit with each other more during lectures and in the library and would inevitably gravitate towards one another in social situations.

“Of course you can,” Y/N assured him, moving her books which were spread out across the table to make room for Damien to put down his coffee. 

“Thanks.”

“Are you feeling better? I missed you in the lecture yesterday.” She asked, knowing that Damien had been confined in bed in his apartment sick of the previous few days.

“Yeah I am, thanks. I could have gone to the lecture yesterday to be honest but Shayne insisted I stay home,” Y/N chuckled and nodded.

“Good guy,” Damien nodded in agreement.

“Definitely.”

Y/N and Damien fell back into their usual easy conversation, both of them systematically falling into hysterics at something that the other said and Y/N could feel the butterflies in her stomach going rampant.

It was during a lull in the conversation, Y/N recovering from laughing at an anecdote Damien had been telling her about himself and Shayne when Damien gave her a soft smile, quirking his eyebrows a little before asking:

“Will you say ‘yes’ if I ask you out now or should I make a presentation for you weighing up the pros and cons of it?” Y/N’s eyes widened a little in shock but a grin spread quickly across her face.

“Well I’m definitely intrigued by the presentation,” she mused, knowing it would make him laugh and she revelled in the sound of it. 

“Shayne’ll be pleased if you pick that option - him and Courtney have been working hard on it.” 

“You’re such a dumbass,” she laughed, reaching across the table between them to take his hand. Damien squeezed hers in response.

“So...?”

“Yeah... I’d love to go on a date with you, Dames.”

"See, this is why no one wants to play with you!” Lasercorn’s groan was loud and filled with feigned annoyance and the first thing that Y/N heard as she opened the door to the apartment she shared with her boyfriend.

“Sorry?” Damien’s response was unsure, clearly uncertain as to whether or not his friends annoyance was real or not.

“I actually... I might head out,” Shayne sounded exhausted and frustration was underlying in his words and Y/N’s heart broke for Damien, knowing how hard he often took it when his friends would, jokingly or not, complain about how good he was at video games.

“Yeah, I might too,” Courtney agreed.

The rest of the crew Damien had invited over to play with him made murmurs of similar agreement and, just as Y/N was kicking off her shoes and shedding her jacket to hang up they all filed out of the living room, greeting Y/N cheerfully enough and Y/N returned their greetings with a smile and nod of her head.

The moment the front door had closed behind them, though, Y/N popped her head through to the living room where Damien was putting away the controllers, his dejection clear.

“You okay?” He jumped at the sound of her soft voice.

“Fuck - when did you get home?”

“A few minutes ago,” Y/N shrugged, smiling gently at her and walking into the room and wrapping her arms around her boyfriend from behind. “‘M sorry,” she murmured and Damien shook his head, the tension releasing from his body from her touch.

“It wasn’t your fault that they decided to go,” he sighed.

“They’re just bitter that you’re too good,” she murmured, pressing her lips to the exposed skin of his shoulder.

“Yeah,” he gave a wistful sigh.

“I could play with you?” She offered.

“Really?” Damien asked doubtfully and Y/N laughed a little, letting go and allowing her soulmate to turn around to face her. His hand almost instinctively moved to her wrist, fingers clasping gently around the soulmate tattoo marked there.

“You might have to teach me but yeah, of course,” Y/N smiled. Damien ducked down to kiss her. “You’re my favourite person, Dames. Of course I’ll try and play video games with you,” she assured, their lips still millimetres apart. Damien laughed into her mouth, kissing her again.

“I definitely have the best soulmate in the world.”

“Just a little longer,” Damien promised and Y/N let out a frustrated groan.

“You said that half an hour ago!” She complained and Damien chuckled a little. “What?” She glared at him when she heard him laugh.

“Sorry it’s just that you’re so cute when you’re mad,” Damien admitted, shrugging his shoulders.

Y/N attempted to maintain her serious expression but she knew it was a lost cause when she heard Damien’s giggles - she always had to join in when she heard them.

“Stop laughing! I’m pissed with you!” She complained but the words were broken up with her own chuckles.

“I’m sorry,” Damien apologised, his laughter dying but leaving a warm smile in its wake. “I just really need to get this script done,” he explained and Y/N sighed, nodding.

“I know I just... I feel like I haven’t seen you in ages,” she admitted. Damien’s smile saddened and he held out his arms for her. His girlfriend shot him a questioning look.

“Come on, you can sit on my lap until I finish,” he offered. 

Y/N showed little hesitation before she crossed the room to settle herself down on Damien’s lap, looping her arms around his neck and straddling him so that they were face to face.

“That’s going to get really uncomfortable for you soon,” Damien warned her but Y/N just shrugged, pecking his lips before nestling her face into the crook of his neck.

“I don’t care - just want to be close to you.”

Damien was woken from his nap by the sound of an argument in the hallway. Or what his sleepy mind took to be an argument at least and he pushed himself up from the sofa to go and investigate, wondering what it could be that had so suddenly gotten his boyfriend and girlfriend so heated.

“Come inside I’m sorry,” Shayne said, standing inside their home, looking through the open front door to where Y/N was stood outside, shaking her head with a bag of groceries in her hand.

“Not until you apologise!” She insisted. Shayne looked over to Damien, confusion and amusement written on his face as he looked to his sleepy boyfriend for back up.

“I just said I’m sorry!” Shayne pointed out, clearly exasperated. “Now get inside or you’ll melt the ice cream!” He pleaded. 

Y/N’s eyes lit up when they slid past Shayne to land on her other boyfriend and she pointed to Damien triumphantly.

“He’ll agree with me!” She declared and Damien rubbed his eyes tiredly.

“What’s going on?” He questioned groggily.

“Your boyfriend-”

“Your boyfriend too,” Shayne corrected under his breath but Y/N ignored him, continuing to stare intently at Damien who had yet to take a side on the argument they were in the middle of.

“Your boyfriend is trying to tell me that John Deacon isn’t as much of a legend as Brian May. Honestly, Dames, how the fuck dare he?” Y/N questioned, clearly outraged. Damien looked over to Shayne, raising his eyebrows.

“You thought it was a good idea to express that opinion to the number one John Deacon stan?” He asked and Shayne shrugged.

“I wasn’t really thinking,” he admitted and Damien chuckled.

“Whatever can you finish arguing so that you can come take a nap with me?” He pleaded, watching both Shayne and Y/N’s faces soften at his words.

“Fuck, Dames, you may be the most adorable person in the world.”

“So... what d’ya think?” Damien looked up from his phone towards the bathroom that his girlfriend had just come out of.

She struck a pose in the dooreframe, barely able to contain her giggles as she awaited his response to her outfit. Her friend had sent her a Christmas present in the post and it had arrived to their apartment a few days after Christmas and as soon as Y/N had opened the box and figured out what it was, she had decided to model it for Damien before he could know what it was.

Standing in front of him, was his girlfriend in a fluffy Iron Man onesie, standing with one hand on her hip and the other thrust in the air, the largest smile on her face as she awaited his response.

Damien burst out laughing, shaking his head.

“I think that you may be the most adorable person in the world,” he told her and Y/N dropped her arms, joining in with his laughter and falling onto their bed so that she could cuddle up into his chest.

“You mean I’m not intimidating like real life Iron Man?”

“Did you just say ‘real life’ Iron Man?” Damien asked incredulously and Y/N groaned loudly, hitting his chest. “You knew what I meant arsehole!”

“You’re the cutest person ever, Y/N/N,” Y/N shifted so that she was straddling Damien, her hands linking behind the back of his neck and she beamed down at him before kissing him. “So no, you’re no as intimidating as Real Life Iron Man I’m afraid,” Y/N pouted.

“I’ll work on it,” she decided.

“Good luck with that,” Damien murmured, pushing his face upwards so that he could catch her lips again. “God I love you so much,” he groaned.

“I love you too, Dames,” she giggled.

“I wanna tell you something,” he murmured.

“You can tell me anything,” Y/N promised between kisses.

“I’m gonna marry you one day,” he told her, feeling her smile widen as she continued to kiss him.

“When you ask me, I’ll say yes.”
