Miles Away
Tumblr media
Pairing: Damien Haas x Reader
Summary: Damien hasn't felt the same since you told him you'll be leaving L.A. for a job opportunity.
"One gin and tonic, one peach margarita, one espresso martini, and one ginger ale." a server said, placing drinks on the smooth table.
"Thank you!" the table said in unison. Courtney, Shayne, you, and Damien were on a double date as they were celebrating your job opportunity that you were recently given. You were so excited as you got to further your research in historical archives. Everyone seemed excited for you, or well, mostly everyone.
"Here you go babe." You smiled, passing Damien the ginger ale.
"Thanks." He said in a small voice, giving you a soft smile.
Your jaw tightens, but you give a stiff smile before sipping.
Damian was the first person to know about your possible research. He was ecstatic at first, being the most supportive partner in the world. But once you said you'd be transferred outside the U.S. for most of the year, you felt as if he was distancing himself.
Courtney caught drift of the tension in the air, so she lifted her glass.
"I wanna raise a toast for the woman of the hour. You're literally the most smartest person I know."
"Hey!" Shayne said teasingly, making Courtney nudge him in the arm as they both cracked a laugh.
"Anyways... we hope that your research in the U.K. is successful and remember that you always have a home in L.A., cheers my guys!" Courtney said as all of you clinked your drinks together.
Damien's jaw clenched and he gently placed his cup down.
"Sorry, Imma get some air." Damien said, leaving the table.
You look at him leaving to the back and you look down at your lap, upset.
"I'll go check on him." You said, leaving Shayne and Courtney.
You walk outside looking for Damien and you make eye contact, walking slowly towards him as he appeared in his own world.
"Are you okay?" You said in almost a whisper.
Damien closes the space between you two and holds your hand firmly.
"I'm uh, sorry I ruined the night."
Your face turned into concern as you look up at him.
"You didn't, I- I know that this is frustrating. I just wish things can be the way they were." You said, closing in for a hug.
Damien held you closer, cradling the back of your head o reassure himself that you weren't going to fade away into dust. But his thoughts spoke out and ruined the peace that stood between you.
"Then don't go."
You tensed under his touch and let go of him, you're face drawn in hurt.
"Please, don't go." He repeats himself again, but louder this time so you knew he was serious.
Your nose began to flare as your eyes teared up.
"You know I can't, Damien." Your voice cracked.
"And our relationship is what, a joke?"
"Don't you dare say that. You out of all people know how hard I've worked for this research and how much I care for you. Hell, you've known for months that I've been waiting for this opportunity to come around!"
"Well maybe I thought you weren't good enough to get it!"
Silence split the air like a knife as Damien realized what he said.
"What did you say?" you ask in disbelief.
"I didn't- please I didn't mean-" He reaches his hand out for you but you yanked it away. This was supposed to be the only person who'd never hurt you, but now he's hurt you in more ways than you could ever imagine.
You turned away, crying as you just wanted to go away. You hear Damien calling your name, but you don't turn back. And now he stands in an alley way, alone with a broken heart.
+
It's been three days since Damien last saw you. He's tried calling, texting, even knocking on your door at your apartment. You never answered, and he felt miserable that he could ever say those hurtful things to you.
He was now at work, lost in thought as he was writing something on his keyboard. He didn't notice Shayne going up to him solemnly.
"Shouldn't you be going after her at the airport?" Shayne asks his friend.
Damien pauses, but doesn't lift his eyes on the screen.
"I hurt her Shayne, it's already too late." Damien said, resuming his work.
Shayne closes up to Damien's desk and brings a chair closer to sit by him.
"You've been distant with everyone recently, it's not like you to act like this. The Damien I know wouldn't let go of someone they truly loved-"
"Well you're wrong. Maybe I'm actually selfish to want her to stay." Damien half shouted, outbursting like the other night.
He realized what he did again and groaned, placing his face in his palm.
"I don't know what to do Shayne. I can't sleep, I can't eat. Ever since she told me about this off broad job I... I got scared. She's gonna restart her life over there and I don't know where I'll fit in. I didn't wanna lose her, but I did."
Ever since you got the call saying you'd be permitted to travel around the U.K. to further your research you've worked on for the past few years, Damien never go to hear how things would work out between the both of you. Sure, there would be facetime and texting each other, but it won't be the same.
It was almost like you didn't give thought of whether to further your relationship with him. Turns out, it was only him who had these seeds of doubt.
Shayne looked at the ground, not knowing what to say. Shayne could say 'Love conquers all' or 'Things would work out,' but he'd be lying to his friend.
"I am far from giving advice for long distance relationships. You're afraid you'll get hurt if things don't work out. I totally get that, but she's afraid that she'll lose you now. She's going to leave now thinking that you didn't want to support her dreams."
"I don't want that." Damien said, getting up defensively.
"Then tell her man, tell her what you want to say before it's too late." Shayne followed. Damien hugged his friend and stormed out, heading to his car and began driving away off to the airport.
Damien parked his car and ran to the departure gate. He looked up at which airline you were and went by your gate. He ran as he could possibly can and searched for the nearest TSA where you could be. He whipped his head back and fourth, trying to find you. He then sees the back of your head and screams out your name.
You turn around, eyes wide with shock.
"Damien?"
He tries to move a bit closer, trying not to pass the entrance line as TSA were bewildered.
"I never meant to hurt you. Ever since you told me you were gonna leave, all I heard was that you were gonna leave me. I was scared and wrong and- even if we're gonna be miles away... I never wanna be in the way of your dreams. I'll always support you."
Your eyes glisten and your lip quivered. You got out of line and raced toward Damien who matched the same pace. His hands then grabbed your waist as he pulls you in for the most powerful kiss you two shared. Your hands lose themselves in his hair. Soon, you heard a roar of applause around you and you two look up, blushing.
You turn back to Damien, smacking his chest after you two weren't the center of attention.
"You really hurt me earlier."
"There's not enough words in the world to say how sorry I am."
You bring him closer to you, placing your head in his chest.
"I forgive you."
He holds you gently for awhile till you both heard your flight was going to board soon.
You look up to him, sadly smiling as you cradle the side of his face.
"I have to go now."
He softly holds your hand, placing a kiss in your palm.
"We'll work things out, trust me. And we'll call once you settle in your place. I love you."
"I love you too." You replied, placing a sweet kiss on his lips before drifting away. He stood there as he saw you go through TSA and lost sight of you.
He gives a tearful chuckle before he walks away with a heavy heart.
It's hard to say goodbye, especially to a person that meant the world to you. And he knew how to fix the problem as he took out his phone, looking at the next flight to you.

"Okay, we have a slight issue." You heard the voice beside you clear as day despite the headphones that sat over your ears.
"Is the issue something you caused for us?" You turned to your best friend with a brow quirked.
"That's extremely rude but very true, yes." Spencer nodded as he took a sip from his cup, spinning his chair to face you. Spence and you had been close for a while, you joining the crew only a few months after Spence had, the two of you spending countless hours editing beside each other. The two of you grew close after a couple of longer projects. The two of you leaning on each other for advice and well needed breaks from time to time.
It has become a joke around the office about Spencer being your work husband; he had a knack for picking you up an drink on his way in, or grabbing lunch for the both of you, or Spencer's ability to pause anything he was working on at the snap of a finger for you. He was pretty much head over heels for you, and you were the only one blind enough to not see it. It's funny to think that you felt the same exact way, and everyone but Spencer could tell.
"So, remember when we started here and we became friends and we made that joke about when we turned thirty."
You stared blankly back at your best friend, the joke about marrying if you're both still single by thirty a distant memory in your mind by this point. It crossed your mind once recently. Last year, you spent your entire 'Dirty Thirty' party that the office threw for you clinging to Spencer.
You made a habit of keeping him alongside you for every big moment of your life since you'd met. You wanted to look back on these moments, that were destined to be great already, to include Spencer.
"Okay, so you do remember, that's great." Spencer clapped his hands together as he grinned at you.
"I saw a TikTok about the wedding gifts you get from inviting companies and rich people, even if you don't know them and I want in!" Spence argued, wiping his sweaty palms off on his pants as he worked his way towards the problem with this rambling explanation.
"I think it's unfair that just because two people are getting married they get to have all that stuff. With all my info had, I made some quick wedding invitations and sent some out, fully expecting PR packages to come back." He trailed off as
"Charles Spencer," You quietly chastised, wanting to not believe a word he was saying, but knowing deep down that Spencer was being truthful. "You are insane, I can't believe you did that!"
"T'm sorry, okay. Listen, Y/N, I thought it was gonna be a funny joke to give you a bunch of fake wedding gifts for our fake wedding on your real birthday! I didn't expect people to accept, but I know that is my fault for inviting some people that actually agreed."
"Charles," You started, using his legal name yet again. He wasn't usually worried about you using it, it wasn't some secret he was keeping it anything, but the tone in your voice told him that you weren't happy at all. "Who all accepted?"
"I'm sorry, I know I'm never gonna say that enough, but it was only a few people!" Spencer knew his voice was just getting higher and higher the more you two spoke, his anxiety spiking.
"Yes, okay, Rhett and Link accepted," A gasp left you as Spencer cringed, knowing his mistake. "Kathy Bates politely declined but sent an autographed headshot!" He removed the framed photo from his backpack before setting it beside your monitor.
He grinned worriedly, gesturing towards it as you let your forehead meet the desk, groaning.
"Besides the people that own the company we work for, who else said yes?" You asked through gritted teeth as Spencer looked to his phone, finding the note that held his list.
"Rapid fire, Tana Mongeau, Carrot Top, and Rob Schneider. It's not that many people, Y/N, we can just call it off." Spencer placed his hand on your back, rubbing softly as you groaned again, completely shocked by just how royally fucked this whole thing was gonna turn out to be no matter what you did.
"I'm so, so sorry, Y/N but. will you marry me?"
"emergency meeting at my desk in ten please need advice bc Spencer's an idiot"
"That's was very rude and I am plenty offended." Spencer quipped, setting his phone down on his desk after reading the group chat message you'd sent out. You shot him a glare, all argued out for the day after spending the last hour trying to convince Spence to let you tell your friends, hoping they'd help you figure out the story you'd make up in place of a wedding.
He finally caved, feeling terrible about the mess he had drug you into, allowing you to explore different ways out of this mess. In no time, Courtney, Damien and Shayne accompanied the two of you at your desks, various stolen chairs offering comfort to your friends.
"What did Spencer do now?" Damien asked, causing Spence to scoff and shake his head.
"I'm starting to get upset that everyone just assumes that I really fucked something up this bad." He defended himself as he leaned back in his chair, practically able to hear your eyes rolling.
"You did, though. You lied to people and now we're getting married." You stayed simply, eyes wide as you began to argue with your future better half yet again.
"You're already my work wife, we're pretty much married." You rolled your eyes once as Spencer countered you, reaching his hand towards your mug of coffee, being stopped as you lightly slapped at him.
"l'm sorry, I don't know if l'm missing something and everyone else is up to speed but, uh, when did y'all get together long enough to lead to getting married?" Shayne questioned, pulling your attention from Spencer as you took in the looks from those around you.
Damien's face held a mix of confusion and excitement, Courtney was rendered speechless and it seems like Shayne was using every last braincell he had to piece together this puzzle.
"Okay, phew, wow, that is what this meeting is about, honey." Spencer cooed as he grinned goofily at you, wrapping your left hand in his as he held your palm to his chest.
You tried your best to hid the smile that so desperately wanted to grace your lips, taking a deep breath as you closed your eyes, the feeling of a migraine quickly approaching.
You took your time explaining through the story, Spencer chiming in when needed but mostly stuck to nodding along as you spoke.
"Spencer," Damien pointed his index finger at the shorter man, both with brows raised at each other. "You're an idiot, my guy. Why did Rhett and Link seem like a good idea? Why did any of this seem like a good idea, but especially our bosses."
You sighed, resting your head in the palm of your hand as you awoke your monitor. You sat up as an email sat at the top of your inbox labeled important.
"Congratulations to Y/N and Spencer!"
You couldn't tell how long you spent staring at the desktop, the company wide email from the Mythical Management staring directly back. The noise of your friends chatter drown out as the words in the letter repeated over and over in your mind.
You had to go through with this, or you had to hide behind the arrangement and a shitty excuse of a prank. No other options popped into your head.
"Y/N? You okay?" A warm, familiar hand rested on your shoulder, giving you a gentle squeeze.
Spencer's eyes worriedly searched your face as his brow furrowed at your slumped frame. His gaze followed you, his heart sinking as he Scanned over the email.
"I'm so fucking sorry, Y/N..." He trailed off, running a hand through his hair as he leaned back once more.
The other three moved, all looking over your shoulders to read the message. Gasps and murmurs broke out between them as they say back down.
Your small group sat in silence for a moment. You thought you'd have more time to find a solution, a couple of days at least, but now you couldn't leave this room without some semblance of a plan.
"Let's get married." You still sat with a blank stare at the computer, your mind running a million miles a minute. You slowy explained your thoughts as thoroughly as you could.
Spencer and you were known as each other work spouses, even fans making memes about it. The two of you have talked about the agreement in the podcast, on an episode of Board AF, and in an upcoming reddit video with Shayne.
The fans always reacted well when the two of you were together, engaging with the content. There's countless edits of the two of you, even with the small amounts of videos you've been in together.
You can blame it on the arrangement you'd made, pull lan and a few of the other higher ups aside, presenting the idea.
Spencer and you would get married; you could make the content last up until next April, as planning a fake wedding would take some time anyways. That would mean an announcement video, probably a celebratory video with others in cast, even the process of picking out different parts of the wedding for Pit videos if they really wanted to milk it. Maybe even a TNTL gauntlet with your bridesmaids and groomsmen.
The one thing you wanted to thank Spencer for was the convenience of sharing one braincell. You could release the wedding video, the big finale in which the joke is revealed to the audience, playing it up as a fake relationship until April 1st. Spencer had thought it was funny to put the wedding date on the invitations as April Fool's Day, but it worked perfectly.
You took a deep breath, nodding your head as your eyes darted around your friends, anxious for their thoughts.
Spencer quickly wrapped his arms around your shoulders, kissing your forehead before he grinned at you.
"You are a fucking genius, lan's gonna love this idea. We can say we were prepping for the video, getting our invitation letters together accidentally sent it out. We can use whatever stuff we get as presents for the bogus invites for another video, too." Spencer added, looking to his friends as he chewed on his lip.
"I hate how quickly the two of you worked this out. We weren't needed." Shayne laughed softly, shrugging his shoulders.
"So it's not a stupid plan?" You asked, quickly distracted as the office door opens, lan's head peaking inside.
You lock eyes, offering him an awkward smile. He entered, coughing softly as he stuffed his hands in his pockets.
"Hey, uhm, can I talk to you guys in a little bit? Probably like twenty minutes, in the conference room." lan spoke, a tight lipped smile on his face as he looked between you and the man seated beside you.
You felt a pit in your stomach growing rapidly as you swallowed, nodding your head. This was horrific, it felt like you had disappointed your dad but he wouldn't admit it yet.
And the conferernce room? There was no doubt in your mind that if this wasn't happening in lan's office then it would be bigger than you expected. Lisa would have to be there, maybe Daniel, if they were that concerned; Rachel would probably be forced into it, no matter how much she wouldn't want to be involved. n nodded before promptly exiting, barely acknowledging the cast members.
You groaned loudly as the door shut, Spencer copying you.
"This sucks and I hate you." You shoved at his shoulder, huffing.
He rubbed his arm, pouting a bit.
"It does and I hate me too." He chuckled as a smile appeared on your soft lips.
Spencer felt like the boundaries between the two of you were figured out very early on, never set prematurely, always discovered naturally. Kissing your cheek was okay, forehead was okay, drunkenly kissing your neck was okay sometimes. Hand holding was very normal and platonic and something you two did constantly. Cuddling and spending the night together was normal, but you two wouldn't sleep in the same bed.
He knew that, so far, this system had worked If that didn't happen soon, things might get nuddy, feelings getting involved. Spencer knew his feelings on you, he had since about two years into your friendship.
For six years now, he's known just how much he cares about you with every fiber of his being. He knows he really would do anything for you, anything to be with you. He respected every boundary you set.
Spencer had a thing for constantly taking advantage of the things he could have. You were always greeted with some sort of kiss, never once on the lips. Your fingers laced well with his, especially when you were on his left side. He constantly sat close beside you, tossing an arm around your shoulders, resting a hand on your knee, giving your thigh a gentle joy in excitement.
Spencer yearned for you for so long that he'd learned to accept it. He didn't want to cut you out of his life to get over his feelings, he cared too much about you, so his only option was to accept his feelings and keep close to you. You two were best friends, where one was, the other wasn't far behind. You loved him, so fucking much you loved him. He knew this, but he also knew that you didn't love him in the way he wanted you to.
Your group is quick to disband, giving the two of you some space before your meeting. Spencer let the two of you sit in silence before he decided to pack his bag for the day, despite it barely even starting. He could feel your eyes on him, his back to you.
"Packing because figure they're gonna send us home today, no matter what they decide. Give them time to think it all over." You smiled, enjoying just how well he knew you. His words settled in, prompting you to follow suit.
As you zipped your bag shut, it hit you that in just a few minutes before you were supposed to face the consequences of your best friends well intended actions. It was a toss up over which of you was more nervous, the both of you with pounding hearts.
"I love you, dude." You mumbled as you wrapped your arms around Spencer's waist, sighing softly.
"I love you, too, dude." He chuckled, rubbing your back as he kissed your forehead.
"C'mon, champ, let's go knock 'em dead." Spencer winked as he held the door open for you. You took a deep breath before leaving you little editing room bubble.
The room was much, much more packed than either of you had expected it to be. The people you expected to be there were indeed, but alongside them sat Kiana, Selina, and Lizzy.
Spencer thanked his lucky stars when neither Rhett nor Link joined the lot of you. He found himself sitting back a bit, allowing you to take the reigns of explaining your bullshit reasoning for the situation you'd found yourselves in.
Three hours, three scarily long hours later and you finally stood from your chair, your feet tingling and your head pounding. Spencer and you said your polite goodbyes to everyone before heading back toward your office.
"I think that was fine." You stated, arms crossed as you stare down the hall ahead.
He chuckled, nudging his shoulder into yours.
"That went really well, you heard Daniel. It's gotta go through if he liked it that much. It's gonna work out."
You nodded your head, a smile tugging on your lips as you both grabbed your bags.
"Wanna hangout or, uh, give me a ride home? Shayne drove me this morning." Spencer smiled heepishly as he followed you into the parking lot.
"If I'm your fiancee now, I think you should tell me if there's something going on between the two of you." You poked as you both got into your car.
You scooted your chair away from your desktop as you rubbed your eyes, now realizing just how long you'd been sat starting at your screen playing Minecraft with Spencer.
You smiled softly, feeling a tug at your heart at the sight before you. He sat slumped into your couch, eyes focused and brow furrowed as you cat napped on top of the cushion behind him.
Craig and Spencer had a love hate relationship, both of them usually eager for your attention at the same time, causing them to butt heads. Your cat and your best friend were both horribly stubborn.
But then there'd be moments like this, or when Craig curls up with Spencer on your couch, or when he follows Spence through your own house, even if you're still right where your kitty left you.
You stretch, taking off your headphones as you rise and stretch, catching Spence glancing over at you, smiling softly.
"Oh shit, you're still here?" You questioned as you walked past the couch, heading into your kitchen, yawning softly. You check your watch, catching it at just past five in the afternoon.
Spencer chuckled, watching as his eyes followed your every move as you danced around your small kitchen, seemingly opening every cabinet to find what you needed.
"Check your email, Charmander." You mindlessly called out to him, the nickname leaving him to roll his eyes as he dug into his pocket.
"You are the absolute worst with nicknames, need you to know that. Just call me Charles at this point." He laughed as you flipped him off as you turn, spoon in your mouth.
You join him on your couch with two peanut butter and banana sandwiches on one plate, sitting it on the space between you. Spencer nods a thanks to you as he grabbed his, taping your sandwiches together as a toast.
He loads into his email, refreshing it as you take your first bite. His wide eyes cause you a bit of stress, making you sit up straight.
"Good or bad?"
"Uh, good, I think. My schedule got changed." Spencer quickly switched over to his calendar, it had to be good; they don't just switch the schedule halfway through the month.
His eyes scanned over the new or changed parts, reading the first one he saw.
'Engagement Shoot' scheduled for tomorrow at 10AM.
"We did it, Joe." Spencer turns to you with a grin, quickly pulling you into a tight hug. You groaned and rolled your eyes, before quickly squealing as you wrapped your arms around him, bouncing in your seat.
They got what they wanted, right?

The first time she saw the Amanda and Courtney bits was also right there at the event. which is. im so sorry angela. so incredibly funny to me. RIP to her. can you even imagine.

The possibility of Shayne and Courtney doing this type of content is too low, but imagine if they did? I wouldn't survive from laughing too hard. 😂
Disclaimer: I just saw this on my fyp; hence, I am not aware of who are these people are. I just find this video very endearing.

i totally agree with the vast majority of what you posted about shayne and courtney and fans entitlement to their private lives. i dislike that the fandom so heavily sees things through a 'shipping' lens - angela and damien look at each other for more than three seconds, so here's fourteen fics about them fucking. like it's so deranged and so so strange and fundamentally unfair for everyone involved.
it is the same when people want them all to be best friends irl so bad it causes them genuine distress when they say 'we're just co-workers who have a good time'. i understand parasocial relationships and am aware that some are closer than others (some are married i've heard lol) but if it makes you want to keel over and die to hear arasha call courtney her co-worker...genuinely seek help, that's not good for you.
as someone who came back in the buy-back era and who was a fan at the height of the defy shourtney shipping era, i think it's okay to be like 'aww in videos i always thought they had chemistry!' but the stalking, obsessive stuff is unhealthy at best and wrong at worst.
i worry now about the hyper-focus that will be put on shayne and courtney in videos, both together and apart. i think it's super brave of them to go public (also something they may have felt they had to do, given public records) and i hope that people will be able to dial in to respect them and their relationship!!
Thank you, I feel like I’m going crazy, I’m glad others agree!
Bro I can’t even IMAGINE what the “fans” are going to act now. I mean, I can, and it doesn’t look good.
Im calling it now, if the “fans” will keep an even closer look on Courtney’s body now. They will try to prove a pregnancy and I think that will be worse than what it has already been. If there’s an actual pregnancy that somehow gets announced this year, how much you wanna bet that they will use the time Amanda mentioned a smosh baby to prove they were right and knew all along?
If this weren’t Shayne and Courtney, who had to endure stalkers, harassment, unwanted sexual advances from fans, fanfics written about them, people speculate their relationship by every single interaction they had at work, I would have just gone “omg, so cool! Good for them”, but this poor couple had to hide their relationship, hide an engagement! Courtney wasn’t able to wear a goddamn engagement ring, all to protect their privacy.
Im happy for them but again, heartbroken by the fandom once again.
Anyway, all these posts, fights and interactions made me resent the channel I’ve watched for more than a decade so quickly it was actually shocking. Which fucking sucks cause smosh has never been about romantic relationships and this news shouldn’t have affected the fandom for better or for worse.
Im gonna take a step back from the company, at least for now. I’ve unsubscribed to all the channels and unfollowed everyone. I hope I can get back to watching them but for now I legit feel icky, as stupid as it sounds.
I also learned my lesson for good, never ever interact with the rest of the smosh fans, it’s almost never worth it.

“Alright the event this Friday, what’s everyone wearing?” Courtney said, putting her legs up on the table in front of her.
You were lounging around the studio with almost the entire Smosh cast in between shoots.
“Exactly what I’m wearing right now?” Angela lifted her head from Amanda’s lap and gestured to her sweatshirt.
     “Very funny,” Courtney said.
“Honestly same,” Shayne agreed, looking up from his phone.
Courtney shot him a look but secretly you agreed with him. It wasn’t that you didn’t care about the YouTube event Smosh was going to, it was just that you weren’t exactly excited about it. You kind of had a history of embarrassing yourself at things like this. Like last month when you tripped in your impossibly tall heels and landed in the lap of a very unhappy old man. In his defense, you had spilled wine down the front of his dress shirt.
“As long as there’re no heels involved, I don’t really care what it is,” You said.
“You people have no sense of style,” Courtney faked disgust.
“Speak for yourselves, this chain begs to differ,” Ian walked into the room, pretending to model the outfit he was wearing.
“He wears one chain and suddenly it’s ‘his brand’,” Amanda joked.
“Hey laugh all you want, but this thing’s a magnet for the ladies.”
Everyone burst out laughing and Ian mocked offense.
“Well I for one think you look great,” you smiled at him and he beamed back at you.
“Besides,” he continued, “I have to look good ‘cause my ex-girlfriend is going to be at the event this Friday. I bet she’s bringing that perfect boyfriend of her’s too who ‘has a real, important job’.”
“Wait, the same girlfriend who broke up with you at the last event?” Damien asked.
You hadn’t been at Smosh yet then, but you’d heard the story multiple times.
“That’s the one. And now I get to show up a year later, still without a date.”
“If only you had a girlfriend you could bring, but oh wait, that’s right—” Shayne teased.
     “That’s right,” Ian agreed
“I’ll be your date,” you burst out.
You didn’t know what made you say it. Maybe you sympathized with having embarrassing moments at classy gatherings. Maybe you just felt like helping your boss out. Or maybe, just maybe, it had something to do with the fact that you may or may not have had a tiny crush on Ian when you first started working at Smosh.
But that was a long time ago…ok maybe months ago, and something you’d never admit aloud. You were just offering to help out a friend. Right?
“Really? You’d do that for me?” Ian asked you.
“Sure! No one has to know it’s our first date—or not-first-date. We can tell your ex we’ve been dating for months.”
“That actually might work,” Ian grinned at you.
“Ooh, I can pick out matching outfits for you guys!” Courtney interjected.
“No,” you both said in unison.
“Well, I’ll pick you up on Friday at 8:00 for our not-first-date,” Ian looked at you, his eyes gleaming.
“See you then,” you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Actually you guys will see each other in like 45 minutes for TNTL,” Amanda said.
     “Right.” You said.
After this Ian left the room and you turned back to your friends who were all looking at you as if they knew something you didn’t.
You took in their scheming stares. “What?”
₊˚ ✧ ‿︵‿୨୧‿︵‿ ✧ ₊˚
The rest of the week passed fairly quickly with no more talk of the event except for Ian asking your advice on what to wear—which everyone seemed to think so adorable for reasons you couldn’t understand or just refused to entertain.
And suddenly, just like that it was Friday and you were answering your door to a nervous-looking Ian holding out flowers to you.
“Since it’s our ‘first date’,” he winked at you and you rolled your eyes at him, a smile blooming on your face, “I thought I’d bring you these.”
“Thank you,” you said, “and you look great!”
And he did. His maroon suit fit him perfectly and you couldn’t help but notice that it did end up matching the light pink dress with a crimson belt you chose.
“And you look…wow.” He admired you and it took all of you not to blush at his words.
He took you to his car, and insisted on opening your door for you since it was a ‘first date’. You looked over at Ian from the passenger seat and thought how you were surprised at how much of a gentleman he could be. Your goofy, laid-back boss definitely had a romantic side and would make some girl very happy someday, you thought.
By the time you arrived at the event, you and Ian had barely said a word to each other. Which was odd, to say the least, seeing as you never really felt awkward around him or anybody at Smosh.
“You ready for this?” Ian asked you as you stepped out of the car and headed toward the building the event was held at.
You answered by taking his hand in yours and smiling up at him.
You walked into the venue together and took in the layout. A makeshift stage had been set up for guest speakers at one end and as for the rest of it—cocktail tables scattered throughout the room, lights hanging from the ceiling and trailing down the walls and onto the refreshment tables lining the edges of the room, and hundreds of people, some who you recognized and others you didn’t, mingling and eating and—in the case of your friends—waving at you and Ian.
You two walked over to them. Everyone took in your fingers intertwined.
“Can’t keep your hands off her?” Angela teased Ian.
     “I uh—”
You thought you sensed a faint blush on Ian’s cheeks as he tried to respond.
You interrupted. “It’s a fake date, remember? Would you prefer we stood 8 feet apart at all times?”
“So,” you turned to Ian, “where is this ex of yours?”
“Yeah, now that you mention it, I haven’t seen her yet,” Damien said.
“And anyone could spot her curly red bush—I mean hair—a mile away,” Shayne joked.
“Maybe she’s not here yet,” Ian said, and then to you, “let’s go get some drinks.”
He led you over to one of the refreshment tables, and as you were walking, you saw her.
A tall, gorgeous woman in a tight green dress stood about 20 feet away from you. This had to be her, you thought, looking at her auburn curls done up in a twisted updo that made your simple bun look…well, simple.
You nudged Ian, “Found your ex.”
He looked over at her, his brow furrowed, and then recovering quickly he looked back at you.
     “Yep, that’s her.”
“Well, then let’s go introduce ourselves as a couple.”
“No,” he said quickly, and then added “I mean, no not yet. We don’t want to seem too desperate.”
You looked at him curiously but figured he was probably right.
     You had a new idea.
“Then let’s give her a little show.”
     “(Y/n), what are you—”
You dragged him more into his ex-girlfriend’s line of vision.
     “Ok, now kiss me.”
     “What?”
     “She’s looking, kiss me.”
He looked at you like you might be crazy but he also had a look of determination on his face. Determined to impress his ex, you figured. He leaned in slowly and suddenly his mouth was on yours, kissing you quickly. It was awkward at first but as you pulled apart and looked to make sure the woman was still watching you—she was—you thought that it hadn’t been altogether bad.
“That was, um, thank you for…that,” Ian said, breathless.
“Sure,” you said, “anything for a good vengeance plot.”
“Oh, be careful,” Ian said suddenly,
and you looked around, confused. “Old man two o’clock.”
“Ha ha, very funny,” he elbowed him in the ribs remembering the horrors of last event, but you were grinning as you did so.
“Hey, ouch!” He laughed, “We’re supposed to be in love remember?”
And so that’s how you spent the rest of the night. Making sure she could see you when you touched Ian or pretended to laugh at a joke he made or leaned in close as if you were whispering something in his ear.
As the night went on it became easier and easier to pretend to be a couple. You hadn’t talked to Ian’s ex yet—he always had some reason for not going over to her. But you thought you’d done a good job of making her think you were dating.
And the truth was, you were enjoying yourself. You were having a great time, spending hours with Ian.
Like now, as you looked in Ian’s ex-girlfriend’s direction before saying to Ian, “So, since this is a date I guess I should do this.” You wrapped your arms around his neck. “And tell you how gorgeous your eyes are.” They really were, you thought as you stared into them.
Ian leaned closer to you, planting a kiss on your jawline. “And since it’s a date I guess I should tell you how you shine brighter than all the lights in the room and how I’ve never seen anyone more beautiful.”
“And I should pull you closer,” you added, grabbing his lapels.
“And then maybe I would tell you how much I wanted your lips on mine. Again,” he said.
He leaned farther towards you and your lips met his. He kissed you, really kissed you this time. He was gentle at first, but then his hands were in your hair as he kissed you harder and you leaned into it, kissing him back.
“For a fake date this sure seems pretty real.”
You broke apart, looking up and finding Courtney standing in front of you smiling.
Your voice came out more breathy than you would have liked. “We were just—Ian’s ex is right there and—”
“She’s not even over here,” Courtney said looking between you too. “See?”
You looked around you and realized she was gone. How long had she been gone? You let yourself imagine what it would be like if this was a real first date. Would that be so bad? Was it bad if it already felt real?
Courtney left you guys with a cryptic smile before walking over to a table with drinks on it.
     “So,” you started, “I—”
“I’ll be right back,” Ian said, then quickly walked towards the door at the back of the venue.
You stood there for a second. Was he avoiding you? Just leaving after you’d shared a moment like that? Was the kiss that bad?
You walked back over to the table where all of your friends were standing and chatting.
“Hey! Where’s Ian going?” Courtney asked you
     “Bathroom?” You guessed.
You scanned the room. There was Ian’s ex again. Now she shows up, you thought wryly.
Courtney followed your gaze, “You know her?”
     You looked at her, “That’s Ian’s ex-girlfriend.”
    “No, it’s not,” she said.
    “What? Yes it is.”
“Here,” Shayne pulled out his phone and a moment later showed you a picture of your boss with his arm around a short woman with red hair, “that’s Ian’s ex.”
You were shocked. “But then who’s she?”
“That’s a question for Ian,” Angela said, pointing towards him. You saw him walking towards you and you met him halfway.
“Ian? Who’s the woman in the green dress?”
He looked taken aback by the question, and putting his hands in his pockets, he said, “What do you mean?”
“Well, apparently you never dated her.”
“Um, about that” he started, hesitating, and then taking a deep breath he answered you. “I don’t know that woman. I’ve never seen her in my life.” He admitted this in a rush, looking for your reaction.
“Why did you tell me she was your ex-girlfriend?”
He looked down, almost bashful. “My ex isn’t at this event.”
You took a step back, in shock, “Then why did you need me to be your fake date?”
He looked at you intently, “I didn’t…need a fake date, I mean.”
     “But—”
“I did, originally. But then I found out my ex wasn’t going to be able to make it because her and her boyfriend both have the flu.” He started to smile, then stopped himself, coughing, “Which is really too bad.”
Another time you might have laughed, but now you stopped yourself, rolling your eyes at him.
“So you lied to me?” You asked him, hurt.
     “I didn’t mean to—
“But if you knew your ex wasn’t coming, then what’s this?” You gestured between the two of you. You were asking yourself just as much as him.
“I may have—withheld the truth—because I,” he cleared his throat, “I may have wanted to go on a date with you.”
“What?” Of all the answers you were expecting…
“I think you’re great (Y/n), and I’ve wanted to ask you out for a while but I never quite knew how, and then you offered to be my date to this thing and it was going to be perfect—even if it was fake—and I couldn’t bring myself to tell you the truth. I’m sorry.”
“So yes, I lied to you. But I meant what I said though,” Ian said softly, “about you being beautiful and about wanting to kiss you.”
You thought back through the night, taking all this in. All the fake moments that apparently weren’t so fake. For either of you, you realized. Because you had enjoyed being his pretend date, even if at some point you stopped pretending.
“I just wish you would have asked me to be your real date. I would have said yes you know,” you told him.
“Really?” He was definitely blushing now and you grinned up at him.
“The night’s not over yet, we could still make this an official first date,” you said.
“(Y/n), will you go out with me?”
     “I’d love to Ian.”
He began slow dancing with you even though this most definitely was not a slow dancing event.
     “Ian!”
As you looked into his eyes, though, and you saw the way he was looking at you—like he’d been waiting for this for a long time—you couldn’t ignore how perfect this moment was and you let him sway you.
“Not bad for a first date, Hecox,” you joked.
     “Here’s to many more?”
     “Definitely.”
He kissed you, your first officially real first kiss, and you couldn’t have been happier.
Cheering erupted and you looked over where all of your friends were standing, whistling and clapping at you.
“Still think it’s a fake date?” Courtney called to you.
You looked at all the people around you, some of which had begun to stare at your display. You looked at Ian looking at you like you were the only girl in the world. You looked back at your friends, still waiting for your response.
“I think nothing’s ever been more real.”

imagine being a smosh fan around 2018-2019 and seeing the chemistry Shayne and Courtney have but not being fully convinced that anything would happen between them because they’re co-workers and then suddenly while watching a TNTL video you slip on a banana peel and hit your head and go into a coma. you wake up almost six yesrs later and suddenly its april 1, 2024, the doctor has told you you have fully recovered from your fall, and so you decide to open twitter because you want to see what the current news and then suddenly you see courtney miller herself post wedding pictures of her and shayne on her instagram. what do you do

In light of Courtney mentioning they would possibly want to direct a movie some day during the Q+A, what do you think a Smosh movie would look like with this current cast? Would it be similar to the original Smosh Movie? I'm imagining something similar to Smost the Sitcom Live, like a sitcom comedy maybe? Anyway you don’t have to answer, I’m just curious 🤗
anon, you are NOT ready i was BORN for this question and i'm about to type up a storm so strap in!! thank you for sending it in!!! me being a yapper + film student is not boding well for me rn...
i completely see what you mean about a sitcom/comedy type thing, their vibes during ssl were immaculate, but i also think if they *were* ever going to make a movie it'd be something vastly different from what they've done before just to keep it fresh and give people something never seen before. which is why..
i propose to you: a horror comedy about the cast getting stuck at the smosh office overnight (more below the cut)
hear me out HEAR ME OUT god im so passionate about this. this type of premise would avoid the cast having to play characters per se, they'd kind of just play 'themselves' so it's easier for the existing smosh fanbase to transition to this new movie format without it feeling gimicky/overproduced- the movie begins with just a typical end-of-video outro into the camera for smosh games (maybe only main cast and not freelance? bc full cast might be too many people for a movie idk) and then cuts out to the cast getting off the soundstage like hehe good shoot whatever whatever. but. wait a second. why is it past midnight?? quickly they're realising everyone's gone and its WAY late and they're locked in. all the clocks have stopped around the office. phones are all out of service (but show a weird little digital snake symbol as foreshadowing to something ;)
so now they're like uh-oh. what the fuck do we do. and promptly the cast splits into groups/pairs that all deal with this in their own way the movie would cut back and forth between. maybe amanda and angela deciding to steal alcohol from the kitchen and then snoop on people's desks?? finding out ian has a love locket of anthony in his drawer?? damien grows mushrooms under his desk??? olivia collect's people's candy wrappers?????? idk it could be ANYTHING which makes thsi SO FUNNY to me
BUT this is where the horror comes in, because suddenly people start going missing. and its not fun and games at all. the air feels weird, its like 3 am, everyone's losing their shit a little bit. they start regrouping to see who they can find "hey have you guys seen Angela?" "No, but Courtney just went missing too." "Guys I don't feel well.." AND LITTLE BY LITTLE. THEY START SEEING APPARITIONS. SMOSH CHARACTERS. WHO HAUNT THEM.
like i'm sorry. tell me it would NOT be hilarious for Mental Illness to come haunt the cast in an eerie ghost form??? Augustus??? insulting the cast (but hitting truths about them) making them think about their life decisions??? COURTNEY FREAKING MILLER???? JUST YELLING???? TELEPORTING AROUND THEM AND SCARING THE SHIT OUT OF THEM>?>>>>??? god the jumpscares they could do with this insane INSANE. BIZANKA???????????????? im
BUT NOT JUST SMOSH CHARACTERS- fnaf characters in their eerie ass suits, chica demanding Amanda why she held the door so hard that one time and didn't let her in meanwhile everyone is terrified and somewhat sobbing
so now its CHAOS, they're trying to stick together to avoid getting haunted, they're trying to find their missing friends, they're running around to the footsteps of animatronics, when suddenly they find a door to some storage closet open. they walk in.
there they are!!!! all their missing friends lying passed out on the floor and.. what's this strange hissing noise and why is it kinda foggy in there.. "Oh my god!" Amanda yells out in relief that none of this was real (or was it), "There's a gas leak at the smosh office!" And then promptly passes out. So do they all. THE END.
maybe a post-credits scene of ian and anthony coming into the office in the morning and finding a MESS and them all passed out like god. we gotta put baby gates in here or some shit. they keep messing stuff up!! OR BETTER. they dont know about the cast at first and look at each other with knowing smirks like "wanna go get high :)" and then they head towards where all their friends are passed out and we find out it was actually their secret 'gas leak' spot where they get high on the regular from the gas. ian pouting like "damnit. they found our secret spot :(" anthony shruggs like "oh well" and then they prance around the room trying to huff the gas like idiots and also pass out.
more insane ideas idk how to incorporate yet:
a comedic bit where Amanda bonds with Chica from fnaf and reads her tarot cards (amanda would SO be the person to chat her up after getting over her initial fear and be like 'hey, you just need love, honey. i get it, we've all been there') and its this insane horror yet adorable moment where these two world collide?? BONUS: if the rest of the cast hide in a corner and look at her like "how is she doing this???"
Tim the IT guy actually turning out to be a hologram that haunts all the computers with snake graphics (from that one smoffice sketch 'it could happen to any one of us!') and actually gets his energy from sucking out ram from people's devices
Props and shit moving!!! just so much potential
INNOVATIVE FORMAT:
AND a great way to introduce horror elements could be through this whole 'found footage' thing- you know how in some movies you find like someone's security cam recording etc etc. they could SO integrate elements of that because the smoffice is primarily for content creation so there's LOTS of cameras everywhere
"Hey uh.. guys I think this camera's still rolling." And its us watching footage of that room through it MASTERFUL. or people recording tiktoks and we watch through their screen recording but we see stuff in the background moving before they do YEAH. the HORROR OF IT. god i love movies
okay for everyone's sanity i will now stop i was actually not expecting to type this much- anon who sent this ask, i owe you everything!! im now obsessed with this idea i wish this was real w o w

Spencer likes Courtney.
A lot.
But he also really likes Tommy.
And that shouldn’t be allowed.
At least that’s what society tells him time and time again.
Not exactly directly to his face.
But anything around it just feels… taboo.
Growing up, Spencer never really understood why people would only date and marry one person at a time, cause it seemed so boring.
He loves the idea of holding two others hands, and can’t imagine himself next to only one face when he goes down the aisle.
What he saw on TV as a kid was always only two people in a relationship.
Starting with a man and a woman.
Then later in his life, when people became more open to the ‘lifestyle’, it turned into two people with any gender.
But it was still two people.
Like pillars.
standing side by side.
Totally equal.
Equally balanced.
It feels unbalanced to Spencer though.
He enjoyed the idea of having more when it came to the people in his relationships.
He also had a crush on basically everyone he met.
Or whoever was hot.
So how could he choose?
Why did he have to choose?
It felt unfair to him.
So now when he’s lying in bed with his friends Tommy and Courtney, all of them wrapped up in each other's arms, he shouldn’t be feeling this way.
He should only want one of them.
One part of him feels like what he was doing was wrong.
That he had to choose one person. To send one away to the other room and continue doing what they were doing without the other.
But another part of him knew what they were doing was so right.
Lying there, hugging, felt so electric. He felt the most alive he had ever felt in a long time. It was like there was a constant electric current running through him, electricity shooting through his body and out of his fingers.
--
Spencer has always been extremely close friends with both Courtney and Tommy from the beginning of his time at Smosh.
When the three of them were together, it was like something clicked into place.
Like three lego pieces that were meant to be together.
Spencer has always been quiet around others. But not when Courtney and Tommy were around.
Courtney brings him out of his shell, and encourages him to be more open with others. And to be more confident with himself and his talents and strengths.
With Tommy however, Spencer becomes the loudest one in the room. Tommy just has that effect on him. But Tommy is always watching and listening with open ears, smiling at Spencer’s dumb rants and vulgar jokes.
When Spencer became the director of the Smosh Games channel, it was Tommy and Courtney that he told first. They both immediately cheered, Courtney and Tommy squealing, squeezing him into a big bear hug as they spun him around in the air.
Ever since that hug, being so close to the both of them, a spark grew in Spencer’s stomach.
And no matter how hard he tried to blow out the flame or stifle it, it just got brighter and louder.
No matter how hard he tried.
He had always been attracted to Courtney and Tommy respectively.
Courtney is so encouraging and personable with others, with an amazing style and personality to match.
Tommy with his witty, quick and dark personality. He has a shyness to him that Spencer finds charming. Spencer would always make jokes to try and see that part of him for a split second.
Courtney and Tommy were also both so hot.
It didn't help working with them and hanging out with them almost every week to stifle those thoughts.
Those thoughts of possibly.
Those thoughts that maybe he was attracted to both of them? Starting to swarm.
But then so did the guilt.
And the shame that stabbed him in the back of his mind for wanting both of them when the world pushed for him to only choose one of them.
Sure, he’s had crushes on people at the same time. But there was never anyone who he wanted to step into something more with like Courtney and Tommy.
They had also mostly been celebrities he had multiple crushes on at the same time, but he felt like that didn’t really count.
Not really.
But oh god did he want both of them.
This type of cuddling feels different for Spencer. It felt like there was more tension in the air.
It was also going on for a really, really long time.
Before this, Spencer, Courtney and Tommy were all watching a movie on the couch. But they decided to move to the bed since it was starting to get dark outside and they wanted to be more comfortable.
As soon as the movie was set up and they sat on the bed, they all immediately gravitated towards each other like magnets.
--
Spencer and Courtney were always close. Especially Courtney, with the way they would always be touching an arm or a leg when she would talk to him.
But Tommy usually was more reserved with his hands in public. Keeping them close to his body when he was at the office. Looking over his shoulder before resting his palm on Spencer’s arm.
Feeling like he would get caught somehow if he was too handsy with him.
Maybe it’s the gay guilt embedded into his skin from the beginning.
To not get too close to someone of the same gender in public.
Just in case.
Spencer was also a bit more reserved with touching others.
But he was happy to cop a feel at Tommy’s arm when the cast ever mentioned him working out. Enjoying the feeling of his strong muscles against his hand.
Tommy was in fact, getting stronger. And Spencer noticed how strong Tommy was getting over the past couple of months.
Even if he was shy about it, Tommy was looking even better than before. So much more fit. And, to Spencer’s delight, and in his own words, so much more tastier than before.
Tommy also had a boyfriend before, so he always felt off limits to Spencer. Like he was safe from his feelings developing into something more because it couldn't go anywhere.
It felt safer to Spencer when Tommy and his boyfriend were in what Spencer knew was a monogamous relationship.
But then Tommy and his boyfriend broke up.
And when Spencer heard the news, his ears couldn’t help but perk up.
He couldn’t stop his thoughts from swirling about how nice Tommy would look in his bed.
--
After Tommy and his boyfriend broke up, Spencer immediately became the support system for Tommy.
Spencer told himself it wasn't just an excuse to get closer to him.
But he couldn't erase his what if thoughts.
Spencer especially couldn't erase the thoughts of Tommy’s lips. And what they must taste like.
Since Spencer hadn’t filled the role of supportive best friend for his crush during a breakup before, it was new to him. But he liked the feeling of being a shoulder to lean on when Tommy needed.
He finally started allowing himself to get closer to Tommy. To feel his muscles, to flirt with him on and off camera whenever he could. It was worth it to get closer to the man that he craved so desperately.
He played them off as jokes, but he always blushed after saying them.
--
On the other hand, Spencer also got closer with Courtney when they came out to him as nonbinary.
He already knew that Courtney was pansexual, so Spencer was immediately supportive.
Spencer was a part of the queer community, sure, but he also felt like he was on the outskirts of it. His interests and his wants for more in his relationships were placed outside of the social norm, even for the group of outcasts.
No matter how far away Spencer felt from this so-called fully accepting community, He still knew how to support his friend and knew the lingo for what they were going through.
He made sure to do more research, though, as he wanted to be more supportive to the best of his ability.
He even drove Courtney to a gender therapist so that she could explore their gender identity and expression, and to talk more about the gender dysphoria they were dealing with. Spencer enjoyed helping Courtney out with anything she needed. He wanted to be as supportive as he could be for his other best friend.
Tommy was also immediately supportive when Courtney came out as nonbinary.
Both Spencer and Tommy made sure to use their pronouns right away, and they even threw a small party when she came out to more people around the office and to their friends.
They were already such a close-knit group.
--
They were now lying on the bed, backs on the headboard, slipping down into a more comfortable position. Their eyes were glued forward to the TV as Jurassic Park was playing.
It was probably the third time Spencer watched Jurassic Park this week.
His response to any ridicule is that it was his comfort movie.
Both Tommy and Courtney found that endearing and valid as they both dabbled in being neurodivergent, and both had their own respective shows and movies that were on repeat when they needed some kind of comfort in their life. So they never judged him.
Giant dinosaurs were taking up the entirety of the screen while the three comparatively tiny actors stood and gazed up at them in awe in their bisexual-coded outfits.
“That’s us!” Courtney giggles into Spencer’s shoulder, pointing and mimicking the amazed look the characters held on their faces. Tommy and Spencer caught onto the bit right away, making the same face as each character on the screen and joking together about it.
Tommy laughs into his hand, falling into Spencer while they all have a giggling fit over the truth in her words.
It really was them.
After the fit of giggles fade, they all focus their attention back on the movie. They all felt a warm glowing ball of light that was growing in the pit of each of their stomachs. All three of their lights were mixing together, glowing brightly together, warming up the room and them in the process.
For once, Spencer isn't paying attention while watching his favorite comfort movie. He couldn't stop thinking about the two stunning people who he called best friends that were in his arms.
It was like magic. It finally hits Spencer who he's with and the situation they're all in, wrapped up in each other's arms in bed.
Spencer finally realized how safe and accepted he finally felt, and he truly found people that understood him.
He glows even brighter. The warmth glows so brightly that it warms Courtney and Tommy. They were feeling it too.
Spencer leans back against the headboard, sighing in contentment as Tommy and Courtney cuddle back into him. Tommy lies to his right, but as on top of him as he can be without squishing him. Tommy’s arms and legs lay over on top of Spencer, wrapping his body closer towards him. And Courtney does the same.
The movie is long forgotten and is just a distant memory after the credits rolled and a blank screen sits on the tv.
They were too busy to turn it off. Arms were being rubbed, the softest nuzzle, and a sigh from Courtney into Spencer’s ear made him blush. Not to mention the fact that Spencer noticed Tommy’s fingertips rubbing circles on his back, giving him goosebumps and chills along his spine.
The tension was growing. The whole group could feel it.
Courtney nuzzles into Spencer’s neck, lightly grazing her lips over his neck.
Tommy followed suit, kissing the other side of his neck.
Spencer couldn’t help but giggle at the feeling, ticklish.
The warmth that was growing within him was something he had never felt before. The nerves in his neck were tingling, flowing all the way down his back.
“Is that ok?” Courtney whispered into Spencer’s ear, concerned.
Spencer leans back on his elbows and moves his head slightly to look at Courtney, a soft smile on his face.
He noticed she was furrowing her brow, a worried look in her eye. Worried that she had stepped over a line. But she also had a glaze over her eyes and a soft smile on her lips.
He nodded, looking to Tommy to see his reaction. Tommy smiled at him, a dazed look in his eye. Smiling and giddy.
They all looked like we were drunk, dazed and content with each other. With messy hair and soft smiles. It was like where they were felt right.
Like they were on a whole other planet, floating in space with just the three of them together, and they could watch movies all day in bed together if they wanted to.
Tommy leaned down and kissed Spencer. Softly, tentatively, as this was the first kiss between them.
His kiss felt like soda pop fizzing in Spencer’s skull.
It reminded him of a hot summer's day. Popsicles dripping onto his tongue and onto the sidewalk. He was a relief from the heat, like a refreshing glass of lemonade.
Spencer’s brain bubbled, the sensation catching him off guard as he had never felt it before.
He fell into the kiss, seeing sparkles and warm colors moving like blobs of paint being traced with a paintbrush behind his eyes. Like soft ghosts of light were having a dance party.
Tommy’s lips were soft, but still rough from the dry air and the coldness of what LA can give. Tommy’s mustache and beard scratched against Spencer’s skin lightly, as if it was a group of tiny little hands that wanted to get closer to his face. Their stubble rubbed against each other, causing friction that heat up their faces.
Courtney kissed and nipped at the skin on Spencer’s neck after a while of watching. Grazing her lips along his stubble, the rough sensation tickled their lips.
Both of their lips on him radiated through Spencer’s body, sending waves of shivers through him.
After Spencer was satisfied, and taking a long time to taste Tommy’s lips to the full extent that he could eagerly, he wanted to taste Courtney. He was craving her lips.
Spencer leaned down towards them. Courtney awkwardly shuffles up with a laugh that broke the tension a bit as they waited for Courtney to meet Spencer’s lips for the first time.
When she finally did, it was like fireworks. He literally saw fireworks behind his eyes. Bright flashes of strong, bold colours were dancing behind his eyes, pulsating and moving as if it were the perfect symphony and choreographed for him.
It was different than kissing Tommy, but equally as delicious and sweet.
They tasted different. Both delicious in their respective tastes.
Tommy had a deeper musky flavour to Spencer. He tasted like the coffee he just drank and dark chocolate.
Courtney tasted sweeter than Tommy. She tasted warm, with a hint of cotton candy. They also tasted like apples and cinnamon, the oatmeal she decided to eat for her midnight snack.
They both tasted so good to Spencer.
But he liked the taste of them mixed together best.
“You taste so good” Courtney murmurs between their long, stretched out kisses that stretch like toffee.
“Fuck, You’re so hot,” Spencer moans into Courtney’s mouth, leaning back over to kiss Tommy again, feeling new and different sensations than his first kiss with him. “And you’re so hot” Spencer mumbles into Tommy’s mouth. Kissing Tommy harder than before, he was inspired by their words to be more confident.
Tommy moans into the kiss between them, too caught up in the feeling to really say anything coherent, but sounded enough like what he just said to feel satisfied.
He felt so comfortable kissing them. Like this was what they were meant to be doing the entire time
They were all a blur of soft touches, first time kisses and tentative movements that got more fluid as they went along.
It became more sloppy, more lazy, as they started to enjoy the feeling and cared less about their inhibitions.
It also got more rough, but it never went away from them. They were all in the moment, still there but also a million miles away in pleasure.
The most important thing is that Spencer had never felt more right in the moment than he ever had before.
He’s had partners in the past, sure, but there was always something missing, like there could always be something more.
He didn’t want to, but inevitably he always ended up breaking up with them because there was always something off about the relationship. But he could never quite put his finger on it.
He always made the excuse as the other not being the right person for him.
And now he knew why.
Because there was always someone else missing.
And as they slowly stopped kissing, breathless with beet red faces and panting from the intensity of it all, they unanimously decided that they were going to wait to doing something more.
This was all so new to the three of them, so they were definitely going to talk more about it in the morning.
But for now, they were too spent. They were making new paths in their lives, afterall.
So they cuddled closer and settled into the comfortable silence.
With Spencer wedged between his two best friends, he was the most content he had been in a long time.
Maybe even in his whole life.
He also felt excited to see what was next for the three of them.
And Courtney and Tommy were too.
Courtney and Tommy felt like the last two puzzle pieces in the empty spaces in his heart. And then when he finally found them, they fit just right.

series masterlist
Another weekend passed, the two of you finding yourselves in good company as you splashed around Kimmy's pool, snacks and drinks flowing.
Shayne couldn't keep his hands off of you, even months after the two of you had become official; he was taking every opportunity to make up for lost time.
This was made apparent as you stood chatting with Damien, strong arms wrapping around your waist as Shayne rested his head on your shoulder, his lips pressed to your cheek.
You felt your heart flutter as you rested your hands atop his, enjoying your boyfriend and his best friends company. Courtney called out to you, inviting you to join her in a game with a few others. You excused yourself as you slipped from Shayne's embrace, his hand sneaking into your back pocket as he tugs you back to him.
You giggle, placing a peck on his lips before you wandered off. Shayne finally tore his eyes from you, turning to see Damien with a massive grin.
"I'm so proud of you dude. Yall are gross and feel like l'm gonna puke, but you two look really happy together."
Shayne felt the blush creep across his cheeks as he shrugged. Shayne was so fucking happy with you. He thought he was gonna pass out earlier in the month when you asked him to help you pick out a cat from the shelter. You called him after your opening shift one day, bringing up the idea, insisting he had to join you in the endeavor.
"The cat is gonna be around you all the time, Shayne, you guys have to get along." He could practically hear your pout as he remembered your argument to him. He almost found himself saying those three little words before he agreed.
Now you both had two tabby kittens from the same litter terrorizing your respective apartments.
The two of your kept your normal routine, seeing him every morning you worked and again, occasionally, in the afternoon for lunch. If times lined up, Shayne would pick you up, taking you out to eat after your shifts. You alternated movie nights, staying up late and talking about nothing while cuddled together your couches.
He didn't think he'd get here, to the point of being with you, being able to call you his. The boys quickly joined lan and Spencer in a contest for the biggest splash. When Shayne's turn arrived, he shot you a wink, proclaiming his win was for you.
He got a head start, jumping into the pool with a cannonball. He swam to the side, pulling himself out as he shook his hair dry. You grinned, cheering and clapping with the others.
"That's my man!" You called out, winking at Shayne as his heart began to race.
Your man.
My man.
The words echoed through his mind on repeat as he joined you, positioning himself behind you on the lounge chair, his legs on either side of yours.
Shayne let his lips ghost softly over the skin of your exposed shoulder, your hair now tugged up into a bun. The two of you laid back, your head resting back on his chest as you chatted with your friends.
Thankfully, no one quite noticed as the two of you had mentally checked out of the conversation.
You couldn't focus anymore as Shayne's wandering hands rubbed lightly at the skin of your hips, his fingers playing aimlessly with the strings of your bathing suit bottoms. You let your hands fall to his strong thighs, fingers tracing his muscles, the smooth skin warm and sunkissed.
You pushed gently at Shayne's hands as you sat up, feeling them rest gently on your bum. He gave your ass a playful squeeze before you stood, stretching.
You yawned, excusing yourself and Shayne, claiming you had an early shift the next day. A small smirk graced your boyfriend's sealed lips. You were off tomorrow and something in your eyes told him that he wouldn't be dropping you off at your place.
The two of you said your rounds of goodbyes, gathering your discarded clothes before making a quick exit, Shayne's hand tangled with yours as you headed to the car.
"You're a terrible person, lying to all of your friends like that." Shayne quipped as he put on his seatbelt, chuckling.
You leaned across the center console, guiding him toward you as you spoke softly, face inches from his.
"What they don't know can't hurt them, Shayne. I want to be alone with you as soon as possible and that is all your fault, sir." You grinned, your lips finally meeting his. The twWo of you moved in sync, lips slotted together perfectly as the kiss deepened, your hands gripping at Shayne's shirt.
He slowly pulls away, punctuating with a few small pecks before he shoots you a lazy grin.
"Back to yours, babe?"
Shayne's hands gripped at you, his nails leaving small scratches upon the soft skin of your hips, his hands trailing under your shirt, slowly pushing the fabric up.
He breaks your heated kiss, barely getting your shirt over you head before his lips were on yours once more.
Your hands splayed across his bare chest, having undone the buttons of his hawaiian shirt on the drive home. Your heart was pounding so fast you could've sworn he would hear it.
You whined, pulling away slowly, tugging Shayne's bottom lip between your teeth, before pointing towards your froon door.
He huffed, taking the hint before he quickly locked the door, upset he was losing out on time he could be spending exploring your body.
Shayne was quick to turn to you, his lips were a bit swollen, his hair now a chlorine scented mess, sticking out in all directions, and he was barely even considered dressed. His bathing suit bottoms sat low on his hips as he moved back toward you.
You felt weak in the knees at the sight before you, shamelessly letting your eyes rake over him body, a small moan escaping you.
He chuckled, cupping your face gently, placing his lips on your's again. He let his other hand slide down your side, cupping the back of your thigh, encouraging you to wrap your legs around his waist.
Shayne lifts you with little effort, a small gasp escaping you, allowing him to slip his tongue past your lips, deepening the kiss. He moves the two of you down the hall quickly, pressing your back to the bedroom door after he kicked it shut behind you.
You hands tangled into Shayne's hair, tugging and whining as he trails his lips down your neck, suckling faint bruises into your skin. He groaned softly as his hands slid behind your back, fumbling a bit as he pulled at the strings of your bikini top, the fabric sliding to the floor.
Shayne couldn't hold back the grin he shot you, dreaming of having you just like this, but he always thought it was just out of his grasp. He moved you to the mattress, laying you on your back as your nipples pebbled from the cold air.
You felt your cheeks heating up as Shayne's eyes roamed your body, knowing his routine by now.
Shayne loves to let his eyes trace every detail of your body, his lip pulled between his teeth before he smiles brightly at you.
He can't help but take his time to admire you, to show you just how much he loves you without words, and this just might be his favorite way to do that.
His hands cupped your breasts softly, slowly moving them downward, gripping the edge of your pants in his fingertips.
You melt as he looks to you with brows raised, asking for your permission before he tugs your last covering off, laying bare for him as your bottoms and shorts hit his bedroom floor.
Shayne's mind and heart were racing as he let out a soft groan, drinking in the sight before him. He lets his hands wander, taking notice of every small noise you let out, every small twitch.
Shayne loved pleasing you, that you both knew. He'd even gotten off on making you come quite a few times now.
He removed his shirt, sliding himself down between your thighs.
He'd even gotten off on making you cum a few He looked up to you again, a soft smile on his lips as his face stilled just inches from where you wanted him the most. You whine and pout, huffing softly.
"You okay?" Shayne spoke softly, his hands finally resting on your thighs, massaging your skin with his thumbs as he moves them over his shoulders.
You nod eagerly, opening your mouth to protest.
"Shayne, please just.." You trail off, your head pressing back into the mattress as his warm tongue licks a trail between your lips, the butterflies in your stomach going insane. One hand tangled into his hair, while the other gripped the sheets desperately as he began a routine of slow, agonizing laps at your juices, Shayne savoring every call of his name that rang from your lips.
You couldn't help the mumbled begging you were doing.
"Shayne, please just.. yes.. please, fuck, yes.. right there, oh my god, Shayne!" You cried out as he switched his pace, his lips around your clit, suckling at the bundle of nerves.
Shayne felt like he was dripping sweat, his heart pounding as he sat between your thighs, savoring your taste.
He fucking loved how you tasted. It wasn't anything sweet or anything unpleasant like nost people tended to describe it as.You tasted like pussy and he loved it.
He knew now that he could die a happy man, buried between your thighs for the rest of his days.
Shayne knew he'd done something right when he felt you tense, his hand splayed across your stomach, pressing you into the mattress; he knew youd came, but that didn't mean he was done.
You couldn't hold it any longer, stars blurring your vision as you squeezed your eyes shut, a chorus of Shayne's name spilled from your lips as you came.
You'd never been that easy to get before, and you hadn't come from just oral in a very long time. Shayne took you by surprise in multiple ways today.
After cleaning up his mess, Shayne slid up, hovering over you as he pressed a few kisses to your jaw.
"You taste so good..." Shayne groaned, his nervousness pushed aside by the pure joy he'd been given.
You felt a shiver roll down your spine as you slowly raked your nails down his back. Shayne finally met your eyes, a grin slowly spreading across your face as you cup his cheeks.
"Shayne." You placed a soft, slow kiss to his lips before you pulled away. "Please fuck me."
The sickeningly sweet smile accompanying your filthy words drove him more insane than he could've imagined.
He placed his lips to yours feverishly, desperate to wipe the smile from your face. He pulled away slowly just as he felt you tug at his hair, knowing he was leaving you on the edge, again. Shayne kept his eyes on yours as he stood at the bedside.
You shuffled, resting up on your elbows as he placed his thumbs under the waistband of his underwear.
You were shameless, you eyes raking over his defined chest and abs before your eyes followed the trail of hair downward.
A small moan left you as your eyes followed the falling of his shorts as they hit the floor, then back up again.
Shayne tried his best not to let it go to his head, but he loved the look in your eyes each time you saw him like this, no matter how often that may be.
You couldn't stop yourself from squeezing your thighs together at just the sight of him.
"C'mon, don't get shy now, you always have something smart to say." Shayne chuckled as he crawled back on to the mattress, resuming his previous position. He sat back a bit, lining himself up with you.
You both moaned quietly as Shayne pushed himself into you. You almost had to admire just how well he fit you as you took a few seconds to adjust.
Shayne started off slowly, letting his lips feel every curve of your body that he possibly could, his hands touching every part that his lips couldn't reach.
A mixture of your moans echoed off the walls as your nails dug softly into Shayne's shoulders, your lips trailing his jaw. It seemed like Shayne knew things about your body that you didn't even know as he moved perfectly, making you melt as his hand slid down.
His hand pressed against your hip, stilling your movements, as he crashed his lips to yours, muffling your sounds as they grow louder. Shayne circles his thumb over your clit, your lips and tongues tangling as you moan into the kiss, your walls tightening around him.
Eventually Shayne gave in to his want, a soft moan of your name escaping him as he lifted you legs, setting them over his shoulder.
You gasp, causing him to still as he looks to you, about to to question if you were okay before the most beautiful sound hit his ears.
You moan, loudly, almost seeming unashamed, his name falling from your lips like a mantra. The new angle brought pleasures you never could've expected.
Shayne's eyes widened at your sound, leaning forward as he spoke softly, rolling his hips a bit, another moan leaving your lips.
"Y/N." Shayne began, his tone warning you enough already. "I have neighbors, baby." He chuckled a bit as your cheeks burned.
Shayne gripped your thighs gently, his nails leaving small marks on your skin as he presses himself into you once more. You squeezed your eyes shut, gasping in pleasure as you suppresseda moan. Shayne felt like he was going to explode at the sight before him.
It pushed him a bit further, his pace quickening as he moaned softly, his hands gripping at your waist.
You felt yourself reaching the edge again as you looked to Shayne, following his eyes downward as he watched himself fuck you.
Your walls fluttered as you let go, a loud moan of his name leaving you as you came around im. You felt Shayne tense, his hands gripping at the mattress beside your head as he came, your name spilling from his lips like music to your ears.
The two of you stayed like that for a moment or two, catching your breaths before Shayne pulled out and lowered your legs, resting them on the mattress.
Shayne grinned at you before leaning down, your sweaty foreheads pressed together.
"We should stretch before we fuck next time, we're too old for that stuff." You chuckled, pressing your lips to his. Shayne pouted softly as he got up, heading into your bathroom.
"Are your legs sore, love?" Shayne laughed as he turned on the shower, warming the water before he headed back in to you.
You laid on your side, checking your phone when he entered.
Shayne grinned, biting his lip before he scooped you up, pressing his lips to every bit of your face.
He almost said it, he wanted to say it so badly.
But he settled for a different time, he'd tell you eventually.
The two of you shared a slow, lazy shower, enjoying the quiet time together before drying off and dressing.
You wandered into your kitchen after him, dressed in a pair of his sweats he'd left and one of his many pizza place shirts.
Shayne wanted this moment engraved into his brain. This was everything he ever wanted and he never would've guessed he'd be here. He was quick to pull you into his arms as soon as you were within reach. The two of you stood at the fridge, Shayne's arms wrapped around your waist.
"Alright, I am out of pretty much everything, so.. cereal?" You grinned, looking to him with your brows raised.
He finally said it. He couldn't stop himself, the thought nagging him more and more the longer he ignored it.
So when the two of you began playing some video games, Mario Kart was apparently the wrong choice.
The both of you became playfully competitive, shoving, calling names and yelling at each other. After a few rounds of some different games that always ended the same, no matter who won, the two of you decided on another bowl of cereal.
You tilted your head a bit as Shayne told you a story about Spencer's last birthday, bringing up his infamous screaming.
"How loud can you scream? You measured it before, didn't you?" You questioned before taking another bite. You had heard Shayne's screaming quite a few times, but you couldn't tell if you've heard just how loud he can get.
A quick scream catches you off guard, your hand covering your mouth as you almost spew your cereal. Shayne can't help but cackle, surprising himself.
"l'm sorry!" He was quick to defend himself before his laughter. "I really only do that in the studio, and that's where my screaming gets brought up the most, so, yanno, just a habit to.. scream."
Shayne trails off, doubling over in laughter as you shake your head. The two of you get lost in a fit of giggles together before you eventually calm, taking a few breaths.
"I know you said that you only do that in the studio but better hear that in bed next time." You laughed, giving your boyfriend a wink.
"I love you."
He spoke, his laughter never faltering as he gave in, knowing that the timing might not be perfect but that it would be perfect for you two. He was right, this was a weird time, but it felt right.
"I love you too."
Your cheeks were bright pink as your heart fluttered, your lip tucked between your teeth as you admired Shayne. Your heart had never felt so full of love.
