watching the little girl who lives down the lane and I don't know if it's the little boy actor or little jodie foster's talent at playing off him or both but the goofy little teen boy dressed in a cape doing magic tricks and jumping around on the furniture is actually: adorable. and not wildly annoying like I would assume on paper. this poor beleaguered little girl deserves a little manic pixie dream boy to help her dispose of the evidence from her incredibly justified murders. and also make her giggle a little bit

Annie on my Mind - fancast
Tumblr media
First off, Willow Shields as Liza Winthrop. Idk, Willow has always given me that introspective, cool-headed vibe that Liza has. It also doesn’t hurt that, while Liza is a lesbian, Willow is bisexual herself. She hasn’t been in much lately, BUT damn was she amazing as Primrose and in When Time Got Louder! Willow is an unmatched talent that isn’t given enough roles to show that off.
Tumblr media
Fina Strazza as Annie Kenyon. Holy shit, when I tell you that Fina is a powerhouse of talent that is just begging to be cracked open on the silver screen. She can sing, act and kick some ass (as her portrayal of KJ Brandman has shown us). If she isn’t Annie Kenyon, then idk who else could portray such a sentimental, caring character other than this girl right here.
Tumblr media
Jodie Foster as Ms. Stevenson. Need I say more?
Tumblr media
Embeth Davidtz as Ms. Widmer. She played Miss Honey, okay? I always pictured Ms. Widmer as a sweet, soft-spoken gay version of Miss Honey, so sue me!
Tumblr media
Viola Davis as Mrs. Poindexter. Viola has that “I command you” kind of aura. She can wither you with a glare, soften you with a simple “baby”, make you cry with a single tear. She would be perfect as the headmistress of Foster academy!
Bonus one!
Tumblr media
Walker Scobell as Chad Winthrop. This one may be just cause it popped into my head last minute, but this kid’s comedic timing and his amazing, heartfelt performance in The Adam Project really makes me see him as little Chad. We all know he’s busy being the leading dude in Percy Jackson, but he’d be great for this.
If I get more ideas for more characters I’ll post them, for now this is all I’ve got lol

Seeing everyone (who hasn’t seen her in Killing Eve, Doctor Foster, MMFD, etc.) have this awakening to Jodie Comer’s astronomical level of talent is wonderful. Also, it’s about damn time. Those who have been watching previously, we been knew. Can’t wait to see The Last Duel.

Movies of 2021 - My Pre-Summer Favourites (Part 1)
The Runners-up:
20.  THE MAURITANIAN – acclaimed filmmaker Kevin MacDonald (The Last King of Scotland, Touching the Void) presents his best film in years with this stirring, troubling dramatization of the harrowing fourteen-year detention at Guantanamo Bay of Mohamedou Ould Slahi (A Prophet’s Tahar Rahim in a deeply affecting turn) between 2002 and 2016.  Jodie Foster is also impressive as Nancy Hollander, the crusading attorney fighting for his release, as is Benedict Cumberbatch as Lt. Col. Stuart Couch, her opposing counsel, who comes to realise Slahi’s confinement has been built on a tissue of lies.
19.  RIDERS OF JUSTICE – Danish writer-director Anders Thomas Jensen (Men & Chicken) brings his biting sense of humour and anarchic style to bear in this excellent black comedy starring Mads Mikkelsen as Markus, an emotionally distant soldier called home after his wife is killed in a tragic train wreck.  As he attempts to reconnect with his troubled daughter (Andrea Heick Gadeberg), Markus becomes convinced by the theory of a trio of intellectually gifted outsiders who believe that the accident was in fact an elaborately staged assassination by the eponymous criminal biker gang.
18.  STOWAWAY – Netflix dropped another sneaky sci-fi hit on us in the form of this deceptively understated space thriller about three astronauts on a mission to Mars who discover they no longer have enough life-support resources left to survive their journey after finding a member of the launch crew accidentally trapped on their spaceship.  Writer-director Joe Penna is in comfortably familiar territory after acclaimed survival thriller Arctic, while the compact cast – Toni Collette, Daniel Dae Kim, Shamier Anderson (Wynonna Earp) and, in particular, Anna Kendrick – are all excellent.
17.  OUTSIDE THE WIRE – in the near future, civil war has broken out in the Ukraine and US forces fight to keep the peace with the aid of newly-minted robotic soldiers called GUMPs. Drone pilot Thomas Harp (Snowfall’s Damson Idris) is reassigned to the warzone as punishment for insubordination, finding himself teamed with Captain Leo (Anthony Mackie), an advanced hyper-intelligent android tasked with hunting down insurgents bent on unleashing nuclear holocaust on the West.  Mikael Håfström (director of 1408 and Escape Plan) ably delivers some impressively weighty action sequences, while asking interesting questions about the potential dangers of artificial intelligence.
16.  THE EMPTY MAN – I was a little late stumbling across this spectacularly twisted cosmic horror based on a graphic novel by Cullen Bunn (The Damned, The Sixth Gun) and Vanesa Del Ray, but it grabbed me in the first ten minutes and wouldn’t let go.  The ever-excellent James Badge Dale delivers one of the best performances of his career as James Lasombra, an ex-cop who gets mixed up with a nightmarish conspiracy involving a doomsday cult built around the terrifying eponymous otherworldly entity in an head-fucking horror gem that entirely deserves its growing cult status.
15.  SOUND OF METAL – had to wait until Amazon Prime released this in the UK last month, but this challenging and emotionally-charged drama was worth holding out, Riz Ahmed delivering his finest ever performance as Ruben Stone, a heavy metal drummer whose life is thrown into turmoil when he goes deaf.  Ready Player One’s Olivia Cooke also impresses as his girlfriend Lou, a massively talented singer whose own personal demons are set loose as Ruben’s condition drives a wedge between them, while writer-director Darius Marder (who co-penned overlooked masterpiece The Place Beyond the Pines) shows he’s definitely gonna be a talent to watch in the future.
14.  CHERRY – Tom Holland reteams with his regular MCU directors Joe and Anthony Russo for this harrowing but achingly beautiful adaptation of author Nico Walker’s sort-of-but-not-exactly semiautobiographical novel about a former US army medic who returns from the horrors of Iraq with crippling PTSD at the height of America’s opioid epidemic, forced to embark on a spree of bank robberies to feed his drug habit.  Holland has never been better, while the Russos prove they’re capable of delivering more than just bombastic superhero action and big effects.
13.  SHOPLIFTERS OF THE WORLD – writer-director Stephen Kijak may be known for making documentaries about musicians (Scott Walker: 30th Century Man, Stones in Exile), but he proves he’s got a flair for fiction too with this cannily subversive comedy drama about a Middle American town that goes a little crazy one night in the 80s when a teenage boy hijacks the local heavy metal radio station and makes them play wall-to-wall tacks from The Smiths following the band’s sudden breakup.  There’s escapist fun to be had from the irreverent quirkiness of the premise, and the youthful cast are all excellent, while Joe Manganiello delivers a brilliantly nuanced supporting turn as the besieged DJ.
12.  BILLIE EILISH: THE WORLD’S A LITTLE BLURRY – I’ll admit to being a bit late to the party when it comes to Billie Eilish – I’d heard snippets of her music (most notably Bad Guy and her admittedly impressive theme for the new Bond movie), but until I watched this deep dive into her life and career, following the creation and promotion of her debut album, I didn’t yet know what all the fuss was about.  Well I’m now thoroughly converted – not only is she an incredibly talented young musical artist but also a fascinating and intriguingly down-to-earth person too, and I look forward to following her career in the future.
11.  SHADOW IN THE CLOUD – Chloë Grace Moretz gets a role to really sink her teeth into as Maude Garrett, a take-no-shit WAAF flight officer on a classified mission aboard Allied bomber Fool’s Errand in the Pacific in 1943, in this enjoyably unconventional action horror from My Wedding & Other Secrets director Roseanna Liang.  The film is largely a one-woman show, with the cameras clinging stubbornly to Moretz while the genuinely terrifying story unfolds around her, and she invests Maude with a ferocious stubbornness and intensity that’s crafted one of the cinematic year’s most impressive action heroines.

Tag game: top 5 female characters that I love
I was tagged by @thaitheseries ~ thank you! :D
I’m gonna go with a variety of different shows...
1) Parker, Leverage
Tumblr media
Parker is amazing. She’s talented, brave, brilliant, and has some of the best character development I’ve seen in a show. She was an orphan and a foster child who ended up growing up on the streets, in a car boosting gang that abandoned her, with a professional thief who trained her to be his protege rather than a human person. She doesn’t understand people at all, because she never learned what it’s like to be part of a family or to have real friends. So her journey is an emotional one, learning to understand her own feelings and how to interact with others. She’s also the best thief ever. I could go on, but I’m gonna stop. Just, for the love of everything, WATCH LEVERAGE.
2) Manaow, Until We Meet Again
Tumblr media
I love Manaow. She’s confident and kind and loving and funny and just... I absolutely love everything about the friendship between Pharm, Manaow and Team. They’re all so supportive of each other! She’s always there to cheer for Team at his competitions, she says from the get-go that she’ll protect Pharm. She’s always letting him know what’s going on and she fully supported Pharm’s crush on Dean in the sweetest way. Her friendship with Del is also just lovely. And actually, the scene in the gif above, she’s cheering Pruk on for getting a medal and says that it doesn’t matter that he didn’t get first place, because he still won. She’s just so kind! And I’m so glad she gets someone who is sweet and supportive in the end. Cause she deserves a soft, sweet romance, too!
3) Yihwa, Together With Me
Tumblr media
I only watched this series once and it was a while ago now (and I didn’t watch s2), BUT, I immediately fell in love with her. What a strong woman. She never backs down, never gives in, never lets anyone walk over her or anyone she cares about. She takes matters into her own hands and takes care of business! She supports Korn and Knock fully and helps them get over their hangups so they can be together. She’s also out in the rain helping take down the flyers. She does all her investigating to figure out who did the bad stuff to her friends, too. And I LOVE LOVE her and Fai together! I really wish they were a couple! Fai also gets an honorable mention here, because she’s great in this series, as well. The way the two of them work together is excellent. Just look at this moment:
Tumblr media
I love them both. They stole the show for me.
4) Margo Hanson, The Magicians
Tumblr media
Margo. My High King. God she’s amazing. She is girly and beautiful and fucking bad ass and tough as fucking hell. I love her so much. I love her unapologetic nature. I love that she respects other women and doesn’t make enemies of them. She even takes sweet prim little Alice under her wing and even though it seems like she’s gonna do the bitchy girl thing, she never does. She’s always kind to Alice. She switches gendered slang around, using words that mean vagina to be strength and words that mean penis for weakness. Because lbr, of the two, which is stronger? OBVIOUS. She’s been through hell and back and even when she is at her weakest, she doesn’t give up. She loves her friends, she loves herself, she’s a fighter and a lover and a bitch and a badass and just the best. Damn, I forgot how much I love her for a minute, when I stopped watching The Magicians.
5) Jody Mills & Donna Hanscum, Supernatural
Tumblr media
Supernatural had a crap ton of issues, but I will always and forever love Donna Hanscum and Jody Mills. They’re both so amazing in totally different ways. Jody is no-nonsense tough chick who sees through all the bullshit. You can’t pull the wool over her eyes, cause she’ll just give you a glare that makes you feel small and stupid. But she’s not all nails, she has a soft and loving side, too. She’s a mother, she’s caring and she loves very deeply. Donna is the same but reversed. She’s all soft and sweet and marshmallowy on the outside, but tough as nails on the inside. Her strength is her kindness and willingness to see the good in people and situations (even to a fault sometimes). But don’t make the mistake of underestimating her, because she can and WILL cut the head off a vampire to save a life. Even if she just found out vampires exist. Like, she will always step up to the plate and deal with the shit without batting an eye. At the same time, she won’t let you forget that being sweet and kind is good. Friendship is important. Bubbly isn’t bad.
There it is! That’s my list~
Tagging whoever wants to do this. Go ahead and tag me back saying I tagged you, cause I always like knowing about more awesome ladies!! I’ve just been tagging a lot of people lately and I dunno who to tag now lol

398 “More Demi Moore” (Vanity Fair, August 1991)
Tumblr media
With Demi in the news lately due to her new autobiography, I was reminded of when she posed pregnant (with her daughter, Scout) and nude on the cover of Vanity Fair in August of 1991. (starts on page 574 here)  I was eight, but I remember people poopin’ their pants over this. There’s even a Wikipedia page just about the cover.
Issues were sold on newsstands wrapped (see above). Some stores refused to carry the issue, like Winn-Dixie in North Carolina: "We run a family store. We're not in the business of being controversial." 2
Tumblr media
I forgot that Annie Lebowitz took the photos of Demi. Originally, the photo was supposed to just be for Demi and the family, but editor Tina Brown loved it so much, and that “weomen needed it”, she asked Demi if it could be the cover photo. 4
This is how the page that introduces the interview looks on vanityfair.com:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have the library bound edition that is on archive.org. Either a stuffy librarian broke the principle of banned books week and tore the bra photo out, or a patron did. oo a mystery. Sweet plaid suit though. Someone make me that in a size 3x.
The giant article about Demi and her then husband, Bruce Willis is very critical at times:
Exactly where Demi Moore stands in Hollywood is a matter of some debate. There is a marked division between those who think she has reached the acting and box-office heights of Julia Roberts, Geena Davis, Jodie Foster, Meg Ryan, and Michelle Pfeiffer, and those who think she has had more good fortune than talent. “She was damned lucky to get into Ghost,” says one top producer. “It wasn’t like she was Geena Davis, someone who’s put in some wonderful performances. Demi hasn’t done that—she was lucky and married well. And the success of Ghost and the fact that she’s Mrs. Bruce Willis all went to her head at the same moment, swelling it unmercifully.”Others criticize what they call “the entourage factor.” On the set of The Butcher’s Wife Moore was catered to by an assistant, a dialogue coach, a masseuse, a psychic consultant, Rumer’s nanny, and a bodyguard (while shooting in New York)—in addition to the standard-issue hairdresser, makeup person, and stand-in. She arrived for each morning’s shoot in a limo and insisted on flying between locations by private plane. 3
Two months later, in the October 1991 issue, some people who had pooped themselves wrote to Vanity Fair (page 320):

The first part was praise:
Tumblr media
But then here comes the poopy pants:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I almost forgot about the parodies! Annie even sued Paramount Pictures due to the Naked Gun 33 1/2 poster parody. The suit was dismissed. 1
Tumblr media
Spy magazine also did a parody with Bruce for their September 1991 issue.  Even in 2011, the magazine cover was still being referenced when New York ran an article about mothers over 50 back in 2011.

Part 1 - You wrote, "did it ever occur to you that her great performances are because he draws it out of her. After all he is the classically trained actor & graduated from a prestigious drama school. Before OL Cait only had bit parts in movies & no experience in TV or theater." I don't agree with that anon but also disagree with this. C may have been new but as a 1st lead part she's received critical acclaim & nominations because she has innate talent and brings credibility to every role.
Part 2 - In Faith - 213 - 310- 311 among many she was absolutely stellar and on her own .Cait has been outstanding with or without anyone. Remember her superb monologue with a damn rock in 213. And while she's perfect on her own she also clicks with every actor she faces. Just because she didn't come out of a drama school is irrelevant. What she has is raw talent which counts the most in this business. Not everyone with a degree shows greatness afterwards.
* * * * *
Anon, my answer to that other obnoxious anon was not to discredit Cait, it was to counter the awful things said about Sam. IMO, it was undeserved. However, as John Donne put it “no man (or woman) is an island.” Cait has given wonderful performances in her Claire role. No question about it. But I cannot agree it is “raw talent” alone.
Cait’s acting career started in 2006, and she had 12 roles in 12 years. Before OL she did not receive any nominations or awards. Sam started his acting career in 2001 and had 30 roles in 17 years. As for awards, Sam has gained 8 and Cait has 12. But if you factor out the 3 awards for women and Irish performers, (which Sam would not be qualified for) she has 9, 1 more than Sam.
Yes, she has talent, but what is portrayed is not due to her exclusive effort alone. There is the script, scene partners, costumes, set design, the director’s interpretation of the scene, and the editing process. All these factors go into a perfect portrayal of a character in a particular scene. And let’s not forget “Money Monster” with George Cloony, Julia Roberts, and Jodie Foster. Cait’s role was small, and since the critics felt the film was a dud, she largely when unnoticed.
Unless you have some expertise in acting, I can’t agree that Sam’s drama school education is irrelevant. Besides education in the craft, there are networking opportunities, proof of a serious commitment, credentials in the form of a diploma, and a “foot in the door” with casting agents.
Since Cait was cast at the last minute, sometimes it’s a matter of the stars aligning and being in the right place at the right time. The instant connection between her and Sam at the audition sealed the deal. Realistically we cannot say that it was her effort alone. It was a team effort and no one knows if Sam had any influence in the final decision.
Anon, if you wish to discuss this further, come back under your own Tumblr name. I really don’t like talking to an unknown person.

Transiting Sun enters Scorpio
October 22 - November 22, 2017
The transiting Sun is said to shed light on the various sections of our birth charts, with the relevant Zodiac sign acting as a filter. What does the filtered light look like in secretive Scorpio? Given the sign’s reputation, it could be black light, it could be completely dark, it could be just a normal situation with “hiding in plain sight.” Gotta be ready for anything. It’s one long month of whistling in the dark, while Hallowe’en bats and ghoulies flit about menacingly.
After gliding elegantly through a month of pretty, polite Libra, we’re ready for some down-and-dirty icky stickiness. Bloch and George’s Scorpio key phrase is, “My need for deep involvements and intense transformations.” We’ve moved from the wedding ceremony to the “consummation,” to a rawer and more emotionally honest approach to self-expression.
There is, of course, the Scorpio reputation for sexiness. This is the time of year when - if the aspects are there - we can find ourselves mysteriously, powerfully drawn to - something. (And if Sun/Scorpio aspects your Ascendant, you’re going to find people mysteriously, powerfully drawn to you.) “Something” is not necessarily going to be a person; it could be an idea or concept, God/dess, food, cashmere, an occult field - endless possibilities.
The aspects are again evenly balanced between “good” and “bad,” with a slight leaning toward “good.” We’ll find ourselves with many cathartic opportunities to forgive, to transform problems into assets, and to uncover our hidden talents and strengths.
Problems we may encounter involve parental disapproval and/or overinvolvement, with perhaps some old wounds ready to be cauterized and healed. We may also become overbearing parents, ourselves. Let the kid grow up and make her/his own mistakes! She/He won’t repeat your own mistakes because she/he isn’t you.
Celebrities with Sun in Scorpio: Mark Ruffalo, Leonardo DiCaprio, Katy Perry, Jodie Foster, Julia Roberts, Bill Gates, Grace Kelly, Ryan Gosling, Aishwarya Rai, Drake, Pablo Picasso, Bjork, Ryan Reynolds, Anne Hathaway, Emma Stone, Marie Curie, Marie Antoinette, Gordon Ramsay, Lorde, Vivien Leigh, RuPaul, Albert Camus, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Sylvia Plath, Martin Scorsese, Whoopi Goldberg, Voltaire, Astrid Lindgren
Thursday, October 26, Jupiter/Scorpio conjunct Sun/Scorpio, 3:31
Maybe the mildest form this can take is you, eating all the Hallowe’en candy?! It’s the beginning of the yearly Sun-Jupiter cycle, in passionate and intense Scorpio - there, there, we know you needed all those mini Trix bars. You may also be in the mood to set some ambitious long-term goals today, in the spirit of “Why the hell not?” House position, as usual, gives the necessary direction for your ambitions. Why the hell not?
Planets/Points affected lie between 2:31 and 4:31 of the signs Taurus*, Cancer, Leo*, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Aquarius*, and Pisces.
Saturday, October 28, Pallas Rx/Taurus opposite Sun/Scorpio, 5:44
Self-doubt, problems with (probably) Dad, and/or issues of mentorship arise. We can be headstrong and insistent that only we know the correct path, as well. It’s tricky to be open to advice without committing yourself to take it - we don’t want to seem rude by refusing to follow it. And, we need to learn the strategic trick of knowing when to hang on and when to let go.
Planets/Points affected lie between 4:44 and 6:44 of the fixed signs Taurus*, Leo*, Scorpio*, and Aquarius*; and between 19:44 and 21:44 of the mutable signs Gemini*, Virgo*, Sagittarius*, and Pisces*.
Friday, November 3, Neptune Rx/Pisces trine Sun/Scorpio, 11:33
On the eve of the Taurus Full Moon, we have this beautiful, flowing trine to get us in the mood. Redemptive spirituality is the name of the game, and we can more than find it in our hearts to forgive and to love even more powerfully. At the very least, listen to uplifting music or go to a museum! The downside (ugh) is the possibility of losing oneself in a very powerful illusion. The Taurus Moon should be “enough” to keep us nice and grounded, but be careful nevertheless.
Planets/Points affected lie between 10:33 and 12:33 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Saturday, November 4, Ceres/Leo square Sun/Scorpio, 12:41
Cut the damned apron strings already. Whether or not you’ve tethered yourself to your parents, or to your kids, stop! So much of our nurturing ability depends on the condition of our own self-worth. Perhaps we could take this intensity, this almost desperation to do right by our kids, and apply it to our own “inner child.” Like the Neptune trine, this is bound up with the Taurus Full Moon - go ahead and give yourself the TLC you usually bestow upon others.
Planets/Points affected lie between 11:41 and 13:41 of the fixed signs Taurus*, Leo*, Scorpio*, and Aquarius*; and between 26:41 and 28:41 of the mutable signs Gemini*, Virgo*, Sagittarius*, and Pisces*.
Wednesday, November 8, Juno/Capricorn sextile Sun/Scorpio, 16:08; Thursday, November 9, Pluto/Capricorn sextile Sun/Scorpio, 17:16
Both Juno and Pluto are associated with Scorpio, which makes this a very uxorious couple of days. Go on, look it up. If we’re in a relationship, this energy is fantastic for building trust, and for committing to common goals. Those of us who are single can use the vibes to work on behalf of the powerless (a Juno “thing,” which the Sun and Pluto are more than fine with). And although there’s a chance of becoming a little too cold-blooded about it, we can look around for potential partners today.
Planets/Points affected lie between 15:08 and 18:16 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.
Saturday, November 11, North Node/Leo square Sun/Scorpio, 19:33; South Node/Aquarius square Sun/Scorpio, 19:33
The Scorpio pitfalls of negativity, scorched-earth style destructiveness, suspicion, and cruelty serve to trip us up - those nastier traits get in our way of being and doing our best. Whether or not we’re reluctant to give up the idea of our own importance in the overall Cosmos - and on some level we’re all at least a bit pissed that we aren’t in complete control of Everything - we’re incapable of covering all the bases; we’re far too weak and puny for even the most tentative grasp of how “things” ought to be. We need to clean up our own acts, before bending the Universe to our whims.
Planets/Points affected lie between 18:33 and 20:33 of the fixed signs Taurus*, Leo*, Scorpio*, and Aquarius*; and between 3:33 and 5:33 of the cardinal signs Aries*, Cancer*, Libra*, and Capricorn*.
Thursday, November 16, Chiron Rx/Pisces trine Sun/Scorpio, 24:28
Today’s vibes are most auspicious for warm fuzzy feelings - we also get Venus trine Neptune, maturing a mere 27 minutes before this trine does! It’s almost like US Thanksgiving Day a week early, with a little Valentine’s Day thrown in as well. Redemptive spirituality! The danger, of course, is that rose-colored glasses aren’t necessarily conducive to successfully navigating a working day. We aren’t quite as grounded as we’d like to be. Still, Scorpio’s control-freak tendencies (as well as its cynicism) will probably keep life from becoming too impractically euphoric.
Planets/Points affected lie between 23:28 and 25:28 of the yin signs Taurus, Cancer, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, and Pisces.

stephanie-likes replied to your post “stephanie-likes replied to your post “babybrotherdean replied to your...”
I haven't seen Kathryn Newton in anything else, so it's possible her particular acting style is not to my taste. If I read it right, I think we agree that Claire being supercilious badass action chick a hot minute after starting hunting is less compelling than Claire learning and growing as a hunter. Frankly, I think they're developing her as slow as they think will hold interest. If you put her story on paper, I like Claire, abrasiveness and all. As for other hunters, I would totally watch a  Hunter Origins series. Or read an anthology. And then maybe it wouldn't come across as every new hunter is inherently talented, because you could tell some failure stories. The ones who didn't have the lucky escape, or Winchesters on speed dial. And damn. Now I really want this to be a real thing. Think of some of your fave fic authors, now think of them writing an OC origin piece. Can we make this a thing?
i guess i just didn’t really feel like they advanced her too quickly/made her too badass. i mean. she was in and out of foster care and in juvie at least once so so she’d probably have had to physically defend herself a few times over the years. she was basically “sold” by her “friend” to a skeevy loan shark who would have done god knows what if sam/dean/cas hadn’t shown up. her investigation into her mother’s disappearance led her to the right place but would have likely gotten her killed if not for sam/dean/cas helping her. a year (or so) later she kind of stumbled upon a case because it happened to be in her hometown, and would have likely been arrested for assault if she wasn’t living with the sheriff. and again, sam/dean/jody/alex all helped or she’d be dead. so. i mean, she kinda. didn’t come off super badass to me at all, kinda. bumbling a bit. kinda. idk.
anyways. *shrug*
a hunters origin anthology would be just. very good. i need to pitch this idea to the cw or something. like. all the stories would be independent of each other so they could have episodes dating back decades. or more. all over the world. hunters in bolivia or the philippines or northern russia or uganda. hunters in ancient mesopotamia, early native american hunters, future hunters in the post apocalyptic ruins of new york. 11/10 would watch.

FXCF:  Christine – you wrote, directed and star in Killed in Action!  I understand you were also a triple major in college.  So, my question is…why so lazy?:)  Nah…okay –your work in this film is incredibly nuanced and wonderful, I needed more.  So, I watched your reel.  Damn, you are talented!  So my actual question is…do we need to create our own opportunities?   Do you feel to move beyond killer supporting TV guest starring roles – you (representing all of us!) need to take the wheel and drive and create our own stories?
CW: Aw, shucks, you're making me blush! Thank you for those kind words about my performance. There definitely was an element of wanting to create my own opportunities, rather than waiting for them to find me. As an actor, you can often feel very powerless: you're waiting for a role to be written that you are right for, then the opportunity to audition for it, and then the chance to play it. There are a lot of barriers. Sometimes you get lucky enough to cross those barriers, but by creating your own content, you can steer the ship: you can choose the kinds of characters you want to play and stories you want to tell.
However, I should say that I've always been drawn to working behind the camera, and as a child was inspired by Jodie Foster. I admired the fact that she not only played intelligent, layered women, but she also produced and directed many of her own projects -- perhaps there's a correlation between the fact that she got to play such complex roles when she was taking an active part in developing projects? For me, it was time to helm my own work. And what a fulfilling experience it was! At the end of our shoot, I found myself feeling like I had found my voice in a way that I never had as "just" an actor. I'm really excited to continue growing as an actor in both my own projects and those of others.

FXCF: Beatriz – you grew up in Katy, Texas and went to UT Austin. Was the transition to Los Angeles a difficult one?  Did you consider staying in Texas for a creative career or do you think if you want to work in the industry it’s important to be in New York or LA?
BC: In some aspects it was difficult --  I knew that living far away from my family and many of my friends would be tough. I will say that I was very fortunate with the group of friends I made out here through the UTLA (University of Texas, Semester in Los Angeles) Program. That certainly made the transition easier because I was able to live and intern in Los Angeles, so I was able to start establishing roots and find my footing. The industry has changed so much in the 7 years I've been in Los Angeles. While I personally didn't consider staying in Texas for work at the time, I don't think it's absolutely imperative to be in New York or LA. Opportunities in the industry can be found all over, especially in Texas! Dallas, Houston, and Austin are all particularly great cities to work in, and I know a lot of films and TV shows have been based in each of those cities.

FXCF: This next one is for both of you – from a creative and a production aspect, this was an ambitious project.    Setting it in 1948, the period details needed to be perfect and it’s a story that weaves different places emotionally.  What were some of the challenges you had both creatively and logistically pulling this off?
CW: I had been sitting on this script for quite some time precisely because of the scope of the project. It was crucial that the period details felt authentic rather than like actors playing dress up. People often talk about the project management triangle of quality, time, and money (you can only have two). We knew we wanted high quality, but were short on money. We did, however, have the time to cultivate an incredible cast and crew, as well as raise money. Over the course of a year, we applied to a few grants and were lucky enough to receive one from the Puffin Foundation, then we launched a successful Kickstarter campaign, and crewed up. We were lucky enough to attract incredible collaborators who helped shape the look of the film. Among them, our DP (Bobby Lam), our Production Designer (Buffy Morton) and our Costume Designer (Dana Olinsky) helped shape the look of the film. But even with the money we raised, it was still a tight budget for a period piece. We had one day to shoot the entire film. Our prep for the film along with the passion and talents of our team helped us pull it off in the end!
BC: As far as logistics go, we did the entire shoot in 1 day! As a producer, it's an exciting (and slightly terrifying) challenge since we had to load-in, shoot the entire movie, and be completely wrapped out in that time. As Chrissie mentioned, we were fortunate enough to have a fantastic team that helped make it all happen. Everyone involved was completely in sync -- there's no other way the film could have come out the way it did without all of the parties involved. With the funds from the Puffin Foundation and our Kickstarter backers, we were able to get to a place financially where we could afford things that would aid in logistics, such as a location that was used to having projects film there, and a location/site manager.
