I want your opinion on something. Do you think it's better to try and the the cards of the character you like or skipping some to brench out? Like, say you're a fan of Leona. Should you try to get all of his bday card and stuff or stick to one and get other characters ssr?

personally, as much as I would like every single card...I gotta ration my keys, so I focus on my favorites!

which isn't to say that I only pull for certain characters no matter what! more that I take a good long look at every card that comes out and go "do I really want this one? like...really really want it?" (the answer is usually yes, but -- look, the art in this game is very pretty, okay)

honestly, from a gameplay standpoint, I think it doesn't matter too much whether you focus on pulling for specific characters or not. there are very, very few points where actually having a good mix of characters is important (Those Two Stages in episode 6, where I think you can use retry tickets for the easy mode? and also guest room battles if you care about those) and you'll probably end up with at least one halfway decent card per character just from doing 10-pulls and events. so even if you're only pulling for Leona cards, you'll still end up getting a bajillion other characters as well. follow your heart! chase that grumpy lion bliss! ✨🦁✨

Rook continues to wax poetic about science as he goes in an out of consciousness, to Trey’s dismay (thanks to my friend Canvas this is the nonsense I think about hhsdhfjksd)

The gang's still trying, but they always end up reacting rather than acting, much to Deuce and Grim's chagrin. Ace has ascended to a higher state of apathy and accepted this as the State of Things.

Grim: tastes horrible, stinky blood, doesn't sleep, doesn't eat, doesn't grow, doesn't see ghosts, doesn't know about tuna, can't read, can heal fast and be super cool at fighting but super spineless, would be an even bigger doormat without the Great Grim, may or may not want to eat him, may or may not feel pain (they said they did, but he's not so sure because they don't seem to avoid it and maybe they lied just to make him bathe), is what's keeping him fed and in school, hands can probably tear him and the other humans apart but is more likely to scratch the spot behind his ear that he can't reach. 7/10 henchman stop being a dumb and getting hurt and listen to your boss dangit!

Ace: no idea about electricity, reckless idiot, can regenerate and probably needs it because they come from a cursed world with extreme punishments, can't read, has blot for blood, is potentially flammable, doesn't seem keen on hurting anyone if unprovoked, attached to their pet, knows some kind of shame but not enough to stop getting in trouble, accident/attack magnet, strong, the ghosts like them despite being unable to talk, listens to him kind of, keeps apologizing, has been nothing but added stress for his life but this is his life now, hey can you stop making a mess alright thanks

Deuce: no idea about electricity or indoor plumbing, can heal fast, does not like being touched or surprised, probably comes from a bad place and is cursed and may turn into a monster because blot blood, can't read, seems smart and diligent in class but is not smart enough to avoid danger, would have been neat to hang around in his delinquent days but is the opposite of a stress reliever and is the universe's punishment for making his mom cry

Trey: magicless, magic allergy, pragmatic, does not like the infirmary?, fast healing, potentially violent but carries out chores, ghosts like them, a little concerning but overall manageable?

Cater: magicless, magic allergy, weirdly fast healing and may be a zombie or a cannibal, but won't act on that because something something they don't see a point in it???, gets mirror-sick apparently, pretty obedient, doesn't know about phones, can't see ghosts and gives him the heebie-jeebies but weirdly enough, exudes some kind of cursed gap moe because they're polite and likes Grim and gets embarrassed despite their capacity for violence and the macabre

Trey has supplanted Cater in losing in the Knowledge about Yuu department but winning in the overall Ignorance is Bliss department among the Heartslabyul with Yuu interactions.

You'd think after several attempts, and studies, that people would stop trying to eat other people, but it takes so long to boil the magic out. Isn't it faster to eat the meat right away? The magicians who died in that lab accident and dedicated their bodies to the academy were powerful, but that power's only going to get weaker the longer the wait. So it seems like a good idea to join the group who says they'll take their rations the old-fashioned way, especially when you get a quick magic boost after the first steak that doesn't taste that different from boar. But then you get sick of the taste, after a while, because you can't have spices or salt or anything of the sort mixing with the flesh and blood and bone. At the end of it all, maybe you are stronger. Maybe you did get much better at magic, and feel so much more of it in you. But your friend gets a bottle or a pill because they were patient, and you think in hindsight that despite being so much less potent, that probably would have been the better choice. They also probably didn't have to deal with the headaches, or feel worms beneath their flesh, or see the haunting shadows in their vision. It probably doesn't feel like a foreign, phantom tongue's messing up their speech when they try to cast spells sometimes, or like phantom limbs are tangled up in theirs and trying to drag them down. But it's not so bad, you know, in comparison to that other guy, the one who'd sit beside you and joke about and poke at whatever part he got, the one who started laughing a lot, when he wasn't crying. He got the shakes and it wasn't such a problem at first because he could make bigger fireballs that hit the targets anyway. It became a problem when he started trembling so bad he couldn't aim straight, and hit a professor. He laughed and said worms were tickling his insides, and that they wouldn't stop, and he did become worm food, in the end, when he couldn't stop laughing and asphyxiated.

Oohh, that one’s a lot harder, compared to the partner Pokemon. Like...you can keep the same for most of them, but uhhh...Deuce is definitely a Scraggy. If he was a Pancham, he’d have a harder time being taken seriously, since they’re too cute when they try to be intimidating.

Nothing changes for Ace. Same goes with Leona...and Cater. And also Trey and Riddle.

Malleus would be a Hydreigon. Since they’re pretty scary and have a bad reputation. NOIVERN LILIA THO.

The tweels would definitely be Huntail that started off as Clamperl. Azul by this point, was a Feebas...now a Milotic. Worked REALLY hard for it, dangit.

Once again, I have to default to Floyd. He does that with Riddle, too. Too cute for him to ignore. Prefers Yuu because of the wool, but he’s really up for either.

Crowley btw, not listed, but would have a Corviknight and IS one. Monopolizes Yuu often, beyond just the whole “I NEED YOU TO DO THIS” but also because soft.

“Evie? Evvvvie?” Saria poked her head into the back door, which was located directly beside the old set up stairs she used to get to her little walk up above Sunny Maria’s. There wasn’t a response -- a second more of listening, and Saria shrugged. The other waitress must have been running late. And it sounded like the kitchen staff wasn’t in yet, either. Am I early? She checked her phone, freckles on her cheeks twitching when the time glared back at her. 

Good Morning! 6:06am. 75°. Overcast.

Huh. The cafe didn’t open until eight on Sundays, and staff didn’t have to be in until 7. Had she really only slept three hours that night? Normally, she was dead as a doorknob after a night on the floor.  Shoulder deep in pillows, tucked away and happily dreaming in her loft. Sliding into the restaurant, Saria immediately hooked an apron over her neck and tied it into a delicate bow behind her waste. The kitchen was empty. The ovens were free to bake to her hearts desire -- at least until 7. And, it looked like they were low on chocolate croissants. 

She’d just finished a batch -- humming Love Game from her set last night -- when the sound of a door behind her caused her to squawk in surprise, the trey tumbling unceremoniously to the ground. “Oh -- dangit! You scared the dickins’ outta me! What are you doin’ here so early? Oh, no, look at the mess I made...”

the problem is that so much of the characters and writing hit my Personal Appeal buttons so strongly that it looks like this:

I was going to add something about how I want to bake cookies for everyone and make sure they all end up okay, and then I looked at this again and realized I'm...basically just Trey. dangit.
