Cinderella —Aesthetic

The Dark Side to This Fairytale

The message of this story is how stepchildren should be treated like real members of the family. When Cinderella’s father remarries, he embarrasses his child in favor of his new wife and stepdaughters. Meanwhile, the evil step-family physically abuse Cinderella until she’s psychologically broken into becoming a slave in her own house. As a young adult, Cinderella cries at her mother’s grave one night and is gifted with a ballgown. Despite enjoying her time at the ball, she’s grateful and doesn’t expect more from life because of how she’s been treated. Soon, the prince vows to marry whoever fits the lost slipper from the ball. Thus, one evil stepsister cuts off her toes and the other cuts off her heel to make the tiny glass shoe fit. However, little doves notify the prince there’s blood on the shoe and he discovers Cinderella is the true owner. After witnessing the wedding, crows viciously peck out the evil step-family’s eyes; blinding them. Then, they are banished from the kingdom along with Cinderella’s father for persecuting Cinderella instead of loving and caring for her.
