Thinking about an AU where Techno, Wilbur and Tommy are all the harbingers of the actual entire apocalypse and Phil (just some insane guy) decides that those are in fact his kids and starts gaslighting the absolute shit out of them about it.

I wanna try something where they're just more insidious and passive killers than anything else, theyre mostly just biding their time and watching as wherever they're lingering around gets sicker and just starts withering away.

They're a slow moving threat that just can't be stopped and for some reason (because Kristin thinks its funny) Phil just isnt affected by them.

Phil: Oh Techno's always been like that ever since he was a baby Techno: I have literally never met you a day in my life Tommy: Idk man... you have always been like that Wilbur: Oh my death he's actually getting to us

Its a mix of that combined with that "how did he know I was a gemini" meme

Phil: Wil! I brought you some salmon, I know how much you love it! Wilbur: How the fuck did you know I like salmon Phil: I'm your dad silly, of course I'd know :-)

I just think itd be super fun since Phil in this au is literally just some insane dude. He literally lies about their entire childhood but does it so consistently and so realistically that it throws them off guard.

I also have a few ideas where they start referring to Phil as their dad in the beginning as a sarcastic / mocking thing but accidentally just getting themselves even more adopted as they do it.

Phil: Wilbur put on a coat Wilbur: I don't need one! Techno: Go on, Wil. Listen to dad Wilbur: Ugh fine. Only because dad wants it, though

Stranger: Whos this? Tommy: Oh thats our dad. He kinda just tags along Stranger: Aww thats so sweet! You got his nose and everything Tommy: I- wh- no he's not actually our da- Phil: I know he did! Isn't he the cutest, spitting image isnt he? Tommy: You're not my dad! Stranger: Oh someones embarrassed! Phil: Yeah he's going through a rebellious phase right now

Just a mixture of things like that where it starts as calling him it but then accidentally actually giving him parental authority along with that.

I also wanna explore how Kristin and Phils relationship would be like. Maybe her as death being very bemused by this silly human that just decided she was his wife one day.

She literally visits him in dreams and stuff and he just acts as if they're married and have been for years. He complains about their 'rambunctious kids' and how he has to threaten them with her so that they behave sometimes. She finds it so silly and just cant help but play pretend.

Kristin: Hello, human Phil: My love! Its been so long since I've seen you Kristin: We've never met Phil: Oh don't say that! It hasnt been that long. I've just been far too occupied with our boys to visit too much Kristin: Our boys? I made them Phil: And they came out beautiful! I'm so glad Wil and Tech got your eyes. I was hoping they would.

I think that'd be a core part of this AU as well. Everyone is playing pretend but then it just fuzzies and it all becomes real for them. At first its a joke that Phil is her husband and their father but then they get lost in the fantasy and fun of it all and actually accept him as such.

Phil has no ulterior motives either, he's literally just a strange insane man that heard stories about neotrio and started thinking they were his kids one day. He genuinely believes his delusion and they end up accidentally making it a reality.

He just makes lucky guesses and plausible lies often enough that he's still shiny and new, he's still fun to play with and thats what ends up 'tricking' them all.

Technoblade attends Theseus Academy: The world's best school for aspiring young super heroes. The only problem? Technoblade doesn't want to be a superhero! Where Technoblade doesn't want to be a hero, and Philza is secretly the world's worst villain who decided Technoblade would be an EXCELLENT protege.

Yes! Terror isn’t the right word to describe them. You couldn’t even describe them if you wanted to.

Techno is a very slow hunter, opting to follow and wear down larger pray. He doesn’t use guns or even knives sometimes. Tommy remembers multiple instances of Techno dragging back a bloodied deer corpse like it was nothing. The deer was pretty good

Phil on the other hand is more fast. He usually uses a crossbow and Techno lets him borrow his hounds to hunt. Phil is more quick to swoop in and take down the pray with little cuts and bites and then finish it off with a final blow. (very much unlike techno)

I don’t think they would hunt together because they have such different hunting styles but if they were to team up it wouldn’t be… It would be…

Consider: Dark SBI gone wrong. Tommy is invited into the Craft home, blissfully unaware that the three intend to keep him there indefinitely.

Literal months pass. Tommy never even tries to leave, falls into the logic of "Well, If they're not trying to kick me out, it's okay to stay another night, right?"

Just, that kind of cycle, over and over again. SBI tries to do some dark possessive shit, and Tommy, so happy to have any kind of warmth in his life, somehow manages to dodge the implications every time.

The Misuse of the Dark SBI Tag

For the past few months, there’s been a blatant misuse of the Dark SBI tag. From popular authors using it in a too light setting, to constant physical abuse being labeled as ‘Dark SBI’, and to people who are (and admitted to) using it for more hits instead of using it to accurately describe their work. 

So I’m here to tell you all what Dark SBI actually is! This way, people can correct any improper use of the tag. This can also be used as a reference for those who genuinely don’t know how to use the tag, and are accidentally using it wrong. 

Also, I've been made aware that ‘Dark’ is often used as a blanket term in other fandoms, so I can understand the confusion some people might have! However, this tag was created with a different intention for this fandom and so this post was made to clarify that for those who don’t know! There are also more specific tags for certain topics (such as Neglectful SBI or Bad Family SBI) that should be used, instead of being put under an umbrella tag. Especially when those tags themselves already describe what content readers will be seeing.

Friendly reminder: This is entirely about the characters and not the content creators! Again, this is about the characters! Thank you!

Dark SBI is a tag that was made for platonic-possessive and obsessive SBI. They’re morally bad and awful people. They’ve often kidnapped each other (usually Tommy), and that is the point. 

Think of it like this: Dark SBI is similar to Mother Gothel from Tangled, but SBI actually love and enjoy each other’s presence instead of using each other for their own gain. (And with a side of Stockholm Syndrome depending on who was kidnapped.)

They won’t let each other (or a specific member) go. They are constantly thinking of them, and want their total attention and love. To the point where they’ll get upset if someone else gets that attention and affection. (NOTE: intensity varies based on how dark you want to go—the darker you want to write it, the more clingy they are. Dark SBI doesn’t mean they have to be completely obsessive and possessive, but it does mean they are more clingy than regular people.)

I’ve compiled a few examples of what is and isn’t Dark SBI, to make this more clear for everyone. Please note, the authors of early Dark SBI fics (where the tag originated from) have weighed in on this!

What is Dark SBI:

Dark SBI = Morally Dark gray/black FAMILY SBI

Strictly PLATONIC relationships

Possessive behavior

Over-Protective SBI (Usually goes hand-in-hand with Possessive behavior, but they are Protective to an unhealthy degree. Depending on how Dark the fic is.)

Obsessive behavior

Stockholm Syndrome (With SBI genuinely loving and liking their victim.)

Kidnapping

Forced Adoption

Codependency

Unempathetic/apathetic to people outside themselves (However, if the fic has kidnapping, they do care for the victim they intend to take.)

Forced Found Family if SBI isn’t Blood Related (NOT dehumanization! This has never been a tag for stories with pet/master themes that know a character is sentient and don’t care. For reference, this would be tagged as Evil SBI.)

What is not Dark SBI:

Neglectful SBI

Physically Abusive SBI (Constantly hitting a character or using violence for any small slight.)

Bad Family SBI

Evil SBI (They don’t care about each other and/or actively try (or succeed) to kill a certain member and never change their mind.)

SBI using one of their Members for their Own Gain (They do not love the character they’re using and don’t care for them.)

Remorseful SBI (Regrets kidnapping or being possessive/obsessive.)

Only being Dark SBI because they Kill People (SBI actively kills in canon, so there’s no need to label them as ‘Dark SBI’ just because they commit murder.)

Good Villain SBI (Where SBI are villains, but aren’t horrible people.)

Vampires who are Only labeled as Dark SBI because they’re Vampires.

Heavy/Constant Dehumanization (Where the character is obviously sentient, but their kidnappers don’t care and treat them like a pet, object, or tool. This is literally slavery and abuse. Tag it as Evil SBI)

Ranboo and/or Tubbo replacing Tommy (Dark SBI is for morally messed up Philza, Tommy, Wilbur, Techno as a family. Having someone else be a member of SBI, instead of Tommy, needs to have its own tag. Many people search up Dark SBI content specifically for those four, so it’s rude to tag it if it won’t actually be included.)

AU where Phil is a human that accidentally adopts vampire!Techno and loves the kid far too much for just turn him in to hunters or give him up.

Just obssessed with AU's where Phil corrupts himself so that he can take care of his kids so he just starts turning a blind eye to Techno spending nights out and coming home covered in blood.

Ramblings under cut!

He ignores the missing people being reported on the news in favour of asking Techno if he slept well or if he's still hungry.

One night, though, its almost too much. Techno comes home with a changeling Wilbur and asks for Phil to help him heal the other. The only problem is that human blood is the only way to fix up such a young vampire.

The amount of blood needed would easily kill Phil and Techno can't leave the others side. It'd be on him to bring back a human to feed Wil to keep him alive.

He almost denies it but ultimately just cant bring himself to let a helpless kid die. So he goes out and does what was needed. Wilbur gets fixed up and mere days later, Kristin turns up at the door to thank him.

From that point on they fall in love and eventually get married and move in, Phil being the only human in the house while he just turns a blind eye to the massive spike in killings in the area.

They have to move around a couple of times because of that but eventually they find a forever home and discover an abandoned changeling who says his name is Tommy.

Again, Phils bleeding heart is just too much and he desperately wants to take this poor kid off the streets. The only problem is that Tommy has no interest in joining the coven or the family.

Its after a hunter attack that they decide that what he wants isnt what matters. They'll give him a coven and a place to stay whether he wants it or not. Sooner or later, he'll get used to it.

Just like Phil did.

Tech?” The doorknob jiggled, the lock keeping the door closed. Technoblade’s heart jumped into his throat as he watched the bronze knob fail to twist. “Tech, are you okay?”

“I’m-” Technoblade started to say and yes, he could hear it now. Under the scratchiness, his voice sounded so young. Like a little kid. His voice wavered. “I-”

The doorknob stopped moving and everything was quiet. Technoblade held his breath, heartbeat loud in his ears as he stood stock still in the middle of the bathroom. Seconds ticked by, before Kristin spoke again.

“You looked in the mirror,” It wasn’t a question. Technoblade whimpered, quickly covering his mouth to stifle the sound. He could hear a deep sigh on the other side of the door. “Oh, Technoblade. Unlock the door, sweetheart.”

Or; Technoblade is so endearing to the fae that when they decide to punish the human Kingdom, they decide to keep him as a little treat. A new son, all for their own. Dark SBI. Techno-centric.

There is one specific au that me and a few others have been brainstorming ( cough @nomsfaultau cough)

Basically the premise is that its the early Victorian era and Tommy is the kid of two wealthy landowners and hes got a big ol fortune to inherit. Problem is his parents passed away in some sort of incident and so hes sent to live with his godfather, Billiam.

Now, Tommy really doesn't know Billiam that well and has only ever heard stories from his father and mother. He knows that Billiam is a bit of a snob and makes a living off of sending kids to work in the coal mines (Tommy made that up he doesn't actually know if thats true) so he isn't excited about the fact this is happening.

And two things happen,

One, "Billiam" insists on being called "Techno".

Two, "Techno" doesn't seem to know how to function like a proper human being.

Tommy hears him shuffling around the house and stuff at night and while the servants (A blonde old bag who laughs like a crow, A tall vampire looking bastard, and more colorful characters) constantly insist that this is completely normal behavior Tommy isn't falling for it.

At least the food is good, Tommy likes the liver they serve. They say its pig liver or something and food is food.

This is just a small PSA, but I feel it needs to be said. I do not want to start a witch hunt here, and if any of you do that, I will be extremely disappointed. Please be respectful to anyone who does this.

Anyways, recently I’ve been seeing people use the dark SBI as a blanket term and not tagging some really messed up stuff that can genuinely trigger people.

I just saw around five (5) dark SBI fics where SBI are literally physically abusive and ignored/hated Tommy and saw zero mention of ‘neglectful’ or ‘bad sibling/dad’ tags anywhere. Even when the summary itself made it clear that they’re doing those things.

Writing out a few sentences in the tag bar saying SBI (or anyone for that matter) is bad, is not a proper tag and people won’t be able to filter it out.

And this isn’t only for the bad family/neglect tags, I’ve seen many people not tagging things like bullying, minor character deaths, blood/gore, and even amputation (this counts if Tommy’s wings get cut off too- many people don’t tag that when they should).

Like, come on now, that stuff needs to be tagged.

I always feel bad about wanting to say something whenever it pops up, because I don’t want to be rude and discourage anyone, but I feel way worse seeing people get seriously triggered because a fic wasn’t tagged properly.

I’m starting to sound like a gatekeeper lol.

But please, make sure you’re taking your fics right. You cannot be using blanket tags for things like this.

I know it can be difficult sometimes, but there are a lot of other tagged fics you can look to for help and it’s better than unintentionally hurting someone.

And if you see someone missing a tag when it pertains to content that very obviously needs (and has) a proper tag, respectfully ask them to add it. Nine times out of ten authors will be nice about it if you are.
