These white cotton candy-like clouds teach me that life is changing at every moment, and nothing stays the way it is, that everything has its time, clouds break, and look how smoothly they merge with their fellow cloud and create a new shape; life is like this? Isn't it? Sometimes we shatter into million pieces; we take time; we build ourselves again. If it is not like this, then it must be like this; life must move on because staying in one place makes us look like a dark cloud, a cloud that has a heavy heart and eyes full of tears.

Dark Cloud is a cool cult classic I've misunderstood for the longest time. Now I've finally gotten a chance to play through it and can appreciate just how ambitious it was at the time to combine two very different types of gameplay into one novel gameplay experience.

Big brain lore time (tw for child abandonment and mentions of child death)

Darkclound and Mapleleaf actually had a secret relationship with each other (its forbidden because med cats arent allowed to do that, and Maple is a med) and ended up expecting kits. Mapleleaf was excited, but Darkcloud was scared. When she had them, she had them out of camp and away from all the other cats. Too nervous to deal with them, she left the kits and went back to camp, and told Mapleleaf that they had died. Mapleleaf was devastated and broke off their relationship

A week at least later, Blazewing and Tawnyspots found the abandoned kits, and decided to adopt them. They werent aware that they were already forestclan kits, they were just happy to save and adopt them

One of Rei's chores at the shrine is to clean and polish whatever shiny things the crows bring her before placing them on a little table behind the shrine for the crows to enjoy.  As quite a few of them are things misplaced or lost by patrons of the shrine, this table doubles as their lost and found.
