09/03/25-Lesser celandine, viburnum, other flowers and sunset at home and Woodpigeon, views, cherry blossom and red deadnettle on a great walk at Browndown.
At Browndown brief but exciting views of my first Dartford Warbler and (my earliest ever in a year by far) Painted Lady butterfly of 2025, Linnet, Great Crested Grebe, common whitlowgrass and speedwell were other highlights with Red Kites and crocuses also great to see at home. A great wild and relaxing weekend.

𝗗𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻: Dartford Warbler
Tumblr media
Today is a weird one in regards to animal divinations. The Dartford Warbler is letting us know that our voice is being protected. This beautiful little songbird relays its messages for all to be enjoyed. Don't keep your words to yourself, it's okay to open up and to tell your truth, you'll be protected. This would be a great day for any kinda music related endeavours or spell casting with words, speak your world into existence.

sorry if you’ve been asked before but: mwpp + lily as birds?
I haven't! Thank you so much!🥰 Always love a chance to yell about birds.
This will be long again 😬
Sirius:
Horrible choice to make. Wanted to make him a bird of prey, because that's kind of what he should be, but I couldn't find a suitable one. So I went with one of my favorites instead. The Raven. Raven are very intelligent birds and also fucking terrifying. Like, if you have seen a crow attacking, a raven is so so much worse. You DO NOT want to mess with a raven. They remember your face. And they are larger than crows. They are also cool and somewhat 'effortlessly elegant' ☺️
Tumblr media
James:
Golden Eagle. Majestic mfer and I think all eagles look like they have some sort of ego problem, so that checks out😊
Tumblr media
Remus:
The common Greenshank. It is common. It is suitably beige. Legs are too long. Lives in the marshes. Very lovable and cute. Immaculate vibes, if you ask me.
Tumblr media
Peter:
The Dartford Warbler. It is tiny and looks cute and innocent on first glance, but THE EYES... That's a bird that would betray his best friend to the dark lord if I've ever seen one.
Tumblr media
Lily:
She was actually quite hard because I wanna do her justice! I finally settled on a White Stork. Storks mate for life which I think would suit Lilys commital character. But they are also extremely impressive and cool birds that have a certain elegance to them🥰

It was fun birding with young birder Chester and his family last week, tracking down Dartford Warbler and Bearded Reedling by lunchtime!

Let's play tag!
Thank you @suspendingtime , for tagging me again into something fun! 😄❤️
Last song: Wonderland (Taylor's Version). Especially this verse is making my fanfic-creating mind run wild:
Didn't they tell us "Don't rush into things"? Didn't you flash your green eyes at me? Didn't you calm my fears with a Cheshire cat smile?
Fav colour: Red and every warm shade of yellow, like ochre.
Currently watching: The Gilded Age, season 2 (and it's so good). TOMMOROW I can FINALLY watch Fellow Travelers. The disappointment was huge when I found out it was not available in my country before November 19th... 😭
Last movie: Love & Friendship (2016), which was... Entertaining enough, but definitely not amongst the best Austen adaptations. And before anyone asks, yes I do also watch stuff that's not set in the 19th century or starring actors from Bridgerton... 😅
Currently reading: 10 Things That Never Happened by Alexis Hall, who is my absolute favourite author. Loving this one so far as well. If you have not read any of his work, please do and thank me later!!
Sweet/Savoury/Spicy: Are we talking about things you can eat or things you can read...? Well, I answer sweet AND spicy, to both alternatives.
Relationship status: In a relationship. Miraculously enough, my favourite person and I have not got tired of each other's peculiarities in the past four and a half years, even if we live together.
Current obsession: Bridgerton (apparently never getting rid of it, not that I have tried or want to) and period dramas in general, RWRB, the Alexis Hall book I just mentioned and every other book by every other author I'm reading right now, Our Flag Means Death... It's a long list. Soon getting into obsessive Christmas mood as well.
Last google: What a "dartford warbler" is. Blaming that one on Alexis Hall as well.
Currently working on: Making "Burn - Edmund Bridgerton II's story" worth publishing.
Current game: Like PS, or...? I'm in fact rubbish at those, never owned one as a kid and trying to learn when you're thirty years old is doomed to fail. Still, my ever patient other half allows me to play Star Wars Battlefront with them every now and then (we're both huge Star Wars nerds). But if we're talking board games, I got the Bridgerton Cluedo some time ago and it was a blast when we played it with my sisters. Definitely recommend that game to every Bridgerton fan!

And I'll be tagging, hmm... @crown-ov-horns, @didanagy, @ladystanbury and @it-me-sannore, no pressure doing this though and sorry if you have already done it and I simply missed it 😁

Dartford warbler sketch | Limited edition fine art print from an original drawing. My sketches start life as hand-drawn graphite images made on cartridge paper. I often work on these with charcoal, oil pastel or Caran d'Ache to create the look I'm after. The artwork is then scanned and finessed digitally ready for fine art printing. This process often referred to as Giclée printing uses the highest standard of printing methods to give gallery quality results that maintain all the details of the original sketch. The graphite pencils I use are Faber-Castel, the oil pastels are Sennelier and the china-graph is Caran d’Ache. The inks are pigment based archive quality (100years+). The heavyweight specialist papers I use are of the best professional quality having a wonderful surface designed specifically for fine art drawings and illustrations. Very limited editions with only ten per size printed. All artwork is signed and includes a certificate of authenticity. The A5 are 5.8" x 8.25" (14.8cm x 21cm) The A4 are 8.25" x 11.7" (21cm x 29.8cm) The A3 are 11.7" x 16.5" (29.8 cm x 42cm) The A2 are 16.5" x 23.4" (42 cm x 59.4cm) Frames not included in price. Free shipping on artwork to UK destinations. https://www.seanbriggs.co.uk/product/dartford-warbler-3/?feed_id=3599&_unique_id=665b58229107e

Wanstead Flats walkers urged to respect ground-nesting birds
If adult birds are scared away it leaves ground-nesting chicks vulnerable (library picture) Some of the UK’s rarest birds are preparing to breed in Epping Forest, with areas roped off from walkers. Skylarks, Nightjars and Dartford Warblers all nest on the ground or in low bushes, which leaves them vulnerable to being disturbed. The Skylarks […]
