That one time we splished and splashed up Eaton Canyon to catch a booming waterfall after the crazy crazy Cali rains!

Super fun, gotta go with a feet wet mindset! That way you can jump and hope from rock to rock or just wade through, the water is high enough that you really couldn't make it to the falls without wet feet!

Some of the treasure we found along the way. I'll share my rock finds in a later post if I get around it. We are nature warriors and I'm hoping if I blog our adventures here it will help me remember what I found and what I learned!

Cliff Desert Dandelion aka Cliff Aster - Perennial Herb - Symbolizes Love - Only Found in Cali -Excellent in salads or brewed as tea. They are high in calcium and Vitamin A, with ample amounts of folic acid, Vitamin C and health-enhancing bioflavonoids.

Desert Starvine - Perennial Vine - It's part of the squash family is native to the deserts of California, Arizona, and northern Mexico. Grows small dry prickly fruits. No listed as poisonous but not enticing as a snack either.

Mule Fat - That doesn't even sound appealing. Evergreen shrub, native to SW states. Edible not but not really recommended. Found near water sources, dry creek beds etc.

Yikes... I was gonna say bye and sign off, but realized I missed an opportunity to point out the little hobbit house we found! I mean, small brick entrance into the ground, what else could it possibly be?

a celebration

My husband and I, (Like we always do) celebrated my birthday a week early. We do this every year so that on the actual day that I was born, I can spend time with my parents. 

This year, he took me to wildflour cafe and bakery. It has always been my dream to eat here, but since I deemed it far and I don’t have the patience for the traffic we are about it to encounter, I usually put it off. But my husband, ever the loving one, took me there.(as a surprise) He filed a leave from his work just so we can spend an entire day together doing things that he thinks would make me happy. I knew from the moment we turned to Julia Vargas that we will either go to Megamall (Paul’s cafe) or Podium for Wildflour. I was correct. 

His plans were:

1. Lunch at Wildflour cafe and Bakery

2. Take home some Erik Kayser crab stick croissant 

3. Bring me to Fullybooked 

4. Go to Megamall and have high tea at Paul’s cafe.

5. Go to Shangri-la and go to Muji.

We arrived at Podium just in time before it got really crowded. We were seated in a cozy place beside a brick wall which I loved. We ordered the following:

crispy potatoes + clam chowder soup 

chicken and biscuits

kimchi rice

Everything was so heavenly. I got so full that we opted to skip on high tea on Paul’s cafe since honestly my stomach did not have an inch of space in it anymore. My husband ordered coffee too. Sadly I didnt try any of their drinks since my throat was a bit achy that morning. Husband did promise that we can always come back next time. 

Afterwards, we went to Fullybooked - which was the smallest branch I have ever seen. I didn’t buy any book as I have vowed to go digital as much as I can. I did enjoy browsing new titles though and scroll and skim through my favorite books.

We transferred to Shangri-la since this is the nearest branch of Muji - a store that I was dying to go to. I don’t really have anything specific to buy but I did bring home a lot of notebooks, pens, markers, burlap bags and homeware. 

We went to Lush and I’m glad to realize that I have gotten over my lush phase. I left the store empty handed. 

We did go to Rustan’s though and I got a few things that I love. 

My husband gave me his present early so I can use it even before my birthday. He got me this ring with 7 (of course) stone. I truly truly truly love it!

If I may speak candidly, I actually dread turning XX years old in a few days. Husband just called this day a celebration of life - and that we did.
