In the digital age, online dating has transcended its stigma to become a mainstream method of finding romance.
Germany, known for its tech-savvy population and robust digital infrastructure, is no exception. The country’s online dating market is thriving, with revenues projected to reach €242 million in 2024.
For entrepreneurs, dating script offers a lucrative avenue to establish and grow their own online dating platforms.
Are you ready to monetize this burgeoning market?
Then continue reading!

First, What is Dating Script?
A dating script is a pre-built code that provides the foundational framework for developing an online dating platform. It includes essential features like user profiles, search filters, messaging systems, and often, advanced functionalities like video chats and AI-driven matchmaking algorithms.

top ways to know that a tumblr post about tech software and shit is bullshit:
The stuff they recommend is incredibly out of date. Hey here's a version of microsoft office from fuckin 8 years ago, no. stop. This also includes recommending people to stay on out of date operating systems !
They recommend using like 13 different things all at once, when 1 or 2 is able to do the exact same. Privacy related firefox addons, you only need ublock that's it. More is not better. any time it's like here's a list of things which do [ONE THING] you only need One Thing, not a whole list.
They tell you to edit shit in the registry. only if you are for sure that there is no other option, you should use some front-end like Winaero Tweaker, or often there may be a built in script in windows. The BYPASSNRO is now "start ms-cxh:localonly" no registry needed to avoid connecting a microsoft account.
They tell you to edit the system itself. Editing the windows installation ISO is a really bad idea! A lot of debloating tools will delete actually important system files! there's a reason you can't delete edge (yes it sucks it's been like this for ages though). There are ways to safely remove bloat and telemetry from base windows without sacrificing security afterwards. again, uninstall what you can normally, and use Winaero Tweaker for the rest.
Just "new bad old good, retvn" bullshit man can we get over this. While yes the Default experience of everything is getting worse and worse and that's awful. you can also just not lie down and take it. You can uninstall things you dont like and use Different Things. you can change settings. you can actually Do Things to Make Things Better. I like windows 11 more than 10. Yes there's copiliot (you can turn it off), telemetry (in windows 10 already, and you can turn it off), the new right click menu (winaero tweaker to put it back, again this app is beautiful), recall (99% of computers cant even run it in the first place), but it's also got a better file manager, settings menu, multi-monitor support, UI (i said it), snipping tool, task manager, WSL, Terminal Shell, window management, WPA3 and NVME support, and security. but new thing you can turn off easily is a deal breaker i guess. You can just disable it. oh notepad sucks cuz copilot, uninstall it and use something else, notepad++ is good as hell. Just change things! also i dont even use windows anymore don't call me a shill windows 11 sucked less than 10 but it still sucked and i use linux.

A Beginner's Guide to Learning Cybersecurity
I created this post for the Studyblr Masterpost Jam, check out the tag for more cool masterposts from folks in the studyblr community!
(Side note: this post is aimed towards the technical side of security, rather than the governance/management side, because the tech stuff is what I'm familiar with.)
Where do I start?
Cybersecurity is a specialization of general tech & therefore builds on some concepts that you'll need to know before you can dive deep into security. It's good to have a background in and understand:
how computers & operating systems work
how to use Linux
computer networking & basic protocols
If you're serious about learning cybersecurity, it can be helpful to look at certifications. Even if you don't want to get certified or take the exam (they can get expensive), they provide you with a list of topics that you can use to guide your self-study. And if you want to find a job, a certification is practically required for getting your foot in the door.
I personally recommend the CompTIA series of certifications, because they're well-recognized and I think they expose you to a good breadth and depth of material to get you started. Start with the A+ certification if you have zero tech background. Start with the Network+ certification if you've never taken a networking course. Once you get your basic computer and networking knowledge down, then you can jump into security. The Security+ is a good starting point.
Do I need to know how to code?
No, but it would be really really helpful. You don't have to be a skilled software engineer, but understanding the basics and being able to write small scripts will give you a solid foundation.
From Daniel Miessler's post How to Build a Cybersecurity Career:
You can get a job without being a programmer. You can even get a good job. And you can even get promoted to management. But you won’t ever hit the elite levels of infosec if you cannot build things. Websites. Tools. Proofs of concept. Etc. If you can’t code, you’ll always be dependent on those who can.
How do I gain skills?
Play Capture the Flag (CTF) games.
Stay up to date with security news via an RSS reader, podcasts, or whatever works for you. Research terms that you're unfamiliar with.
Watch conference talks that get uploaded to YouTube.
Spin up a VM to practice working with tools and experiment on your own computer.
There are lots of brilliant, generous people in cybersecurity who share their knowledge and advice for free. Find their blogs, podcasts, and YouTube channels. Look for local meetups in your area.
I'm still relatively new to the field, but I have a general knowledge of lots of different things, so feel free to send me an ask and I can probably help point you to some resources. We're all in this together!

🌧️Spots of Grey🌧️ (02/04/25)
"Every fiber of your being sings with rejection."
To quickly address the date on this post: Weekly updates have been premeditatively scheduled for a month now, so it won't hurt to use the real dates they've been written. You know to expect them every Monday at 12AM EST.
~How many outcomes should exist?~
It's a question that has loomed over me at every turn, despite the answer being absurdly elementary. The only possibilities that exist are the ones introduced—trying to account for any ideas that haven't yet been conceived is nothing but a waste of time and energy. Still, so many hours of careful thought and experimentation are required to create an end result that I can be proud of. It would be too simple to write up a full script on a whim, add a few choices here and there and then dump a half-assed product on you. This game and I deserve far more than that, as well as you. There's a story inside me that is thrashing, kicking, screaming its wishes to be something special. I'm in love with it so badly, I'm willing to forfeit all of my other dreams to give it the best chance possible.
~What is the correct medium?~
ChoiceScript won't always be the program Brain Death is written in, that's for sure. Twine might be the software I turn to after this build, but with that I'll need to determine which format to use in tandem. Hell, maybe I'll throw caution to the wind and learn 3d modeling. Time will tell, so long as my heart continues to beat and my love keeps blooming. I should hate every moment of this after months of failure, rinsing and switching and repeating the process of writing and deleting and rewriting. Yet somehow each time, I feel a bit closer. I want to breathe life into my characters and create an environment equal parts immersive and interesting; to give the choice to engage in meaningful conversations that fit like a perfect glove. How do you appear, what is your identity, and which parts were you born with? How does the past align with the present? When did the change become visible? Have you changed, or are you the same? You should be seen as you are, treated in accordance with the views of the people around you. How will their mood shape their words? In what ways will they perceive you? Will those perceptions be altered or strengthened with your actions? And what about your own?
~Simultaneously overwhelming and thrilling...~
Only a genius could efficiently figure out the answers to all these questions, while also deciding on the wordings of choices, the outcomes, consequences etc. I'm the furthest thing from a genius. I'm a mentally disabled high-school dropout, whose every project to date has either come out half-baked or scrapped entirely before release. My 24th birthday is coming up in a couple months, too. All in all, these past few days, I've thrown a lot of my work to the abyss and shuffled events to hopefully make transitions more fluid. Currently, Chapter 1 is slated to be called Happy Unity, and will likely be around 10k words when it is complete. Including the Prologue, the first demo will maybe be around 10k to 15k words including code. (Feels weird for it to still be so up in the air after everything, but as I've said in an earlier post, I tried really hard to make the old intro work for a really long time. It didn't reflect my vision well enough.) Act I will be the shortest Act in the game (the 1st of 4), including only the Prologue and Chapter 1. Act II's demo build will possibly be made in Twine. As of now, what's in the game is almost 10k with code, but some text is set to be replaced or taken away completely. (Update 06/04): I've just finished penning a summarized script for Chapter 1—as well as a sheet for a new central character—and while I think there're some minor kinks to be worked out, it looks promising. In just a few days, I'll probably hunker down and begin writing everything down in ChoiceScript. I'd wanted this to be done in July for lore-sake, but if it's done sooner I will upload it then and there. Don't get your hopes up, though.

Hello hello! It's me DFP
I'm wondering where you learned/are you learning to Code? I find the structure of your game quite entertaining and I like to take a little inspiration from it (If I'm allowed)
And I tried to make images that are options but apparently I'm still a long way from leaving the beta of my projects So I wanted to seek advice from you
(Also, if this is not the correct account to ask this I apologize, but if you have some very good advice that can help me please feel free to go to my DMs)
Hello DFP! :3 (I'm not exactly sure what you mean by structure sorry, but probably yes haha)
I didn't learn coding. In fact, the scariest part of my game is the code itself! I would like to take classes in art and coding someday! It's just not a great time in my country to be spending money atm ahahahaha- (cries in national housing and inflation crisis)
If you're using Renpy to make a VN, smart people would recommend giving the Renpy and Python's offcal guides a good look and watching Renpy tutorials on youtube.
For me, I'm the kinda person that only takes in information by dissecting and breaking things, then learning from the mistakes. I looked at the front page of the Python pdf, and it made my ADHD repossess my body despite being on the max dose of ritalin. I immediately closed it then skimmed through the Renpy quickstart, not really taking in any of the information, jumped right into designing the main menu, minced up the code, caught a bunch of errors, and had to check out fourms for fixes.
Have some random tips that may or may not be helpful since I don't know your skill level and I, am infact, not skilled in Renpy, I have no idea what I'm doing half the time! :3
Make new files for everything, don't just put it all in the script or it's going to get ridiculous.
Scripts get LONG use # and add notes, so you can CTRL + F and find stuff easily.
If you're like me, check out renpy's reddit/lemma soft fourms, if you're not getting good goog search results, it might be the words you're using, I had this issue a lot, try changing up words in your question (options/preferences/choices/decisions)
When you're learning copy and paste the code/answer, once you know the the code and can type it out fast, then starting manually typing it out.
Always check the dates on posts, there's a bunch of old renpy guides/fourms that don't work anymore.
There is more than one way to skin a dingo (sorry kevin), if you've found a fix that seems ridiculous but it's working, keep it!
If you have anger problems prepare to get fuckin' pissed off! Before you start coding have a coffee/bottle of water/energy drink beside you, so you have to walk away to take angry piss breaks and can clear your head.
If you absolutely cannot figure something out, make a copy, put it aside and work on something else until you're a little more skilled.
I have three copies of olie, the one that works, the one that I'm experimenting on, and the one on a USB I copy when I get drunk and forget which is my "fuck around" code and which is my "don't touch it, it works" code and I annihilate my game. Make regular backups to your USB for any emergencies, houses burn down. Limit your drinking while coding.
Compare code to the game base if you're coming up with errors. Goog the exact error that pops up when the game crashes. (renpy expected statement)
Click the blue text and it'll take you to it. Sometimes it's not very accurate and you need to look a little above or below the line the error happened. 70% of the time your error is a missing space or "," or an extra space!
I also recommend checking out all the shortcuts on your code editing software (I'm using visual studio code!) I was manually adding indents to each line, which was wasting an insane amount of time LMAO ;w;
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by images that are options, but I'm guessing an imagebutton? If you search "renpy imagebutton" there's a few forums and tutorials that will guide you but it's like this.
You need a screen for your buttons, an image, if you're feeling funky add transforms to the button, else just use a different image for idle/hover!
Add the anchor before you do xpos/ypos because it messes around with the positions and you'll have to re-adjust the xpos/ypos again. You need anchor for the transitions to work properly.
If you want the button to make a sound on click add activate_sound or remove it if you don't want one, it's optional.
This is how you make the transform, you can do a TON of different transforms. This is a simple idle/hover transform. ease is the animation type/speed, alpha is transparency, 1.0 is fully visible, 0.0 is transparent, at 0.5 on idle, it has a dimmed effect. the zoom makes it bigger. Make a new file for this one!
Buttons have a TON of actions to choose from, this is a time I actually would checkout renpy's offical guides. This one does the same as a jump at the end of a label or choice.
If you want your game to not pause when your buttons are visible, just use "show screen nameofthescreenhere zorder 20" (zorder is the layers, 20 is like usually the top, you can go higher though)
If you want your game to pause while the screen is up, use call screen instead of show!
I probably won't do too many of these coding/renpy support things on my tumblr but, OLIE'S discord server has a few game dev channels for coding support if you'd want to join there! :3
I wish you well and goodluck on your game!!! 💖🫡🍀

Unstable Universe MAP Call Update #1
ok erm that post got like 200+ reposts within 30 minutes SO LET'S TALK ABOUT IT
more under the cut to avoid any potential spoilers
Hi! So basically, this animation map call is to animate a roughly 40 minute video about the Minecraft series Unstable Universe, created by SpokeIsHere, Wemmbu, and Parrotx2, who aim to tell great stories through Minecraft. Unstable Universe is a scripted SMP.
I wanted to animate this episode and potentially the rest if the first animation succeeds, which will be posted to YouTube. This video will not be profitable, therefore we will earn no money from this. This animation will be purely for fun.
Taking this into consideration, especially the factor of the video being about 40 minutes long, there will be a LOT of artists/animators who will contribute to this project. Not only this, but that means a lot of work on people. If you want to help draw for this large project to be made possible, please only audition for this if you have the time. Dropping out of the project means recasting, which is difficult if we put a set release date. Fortunately, there is no set release date, as this project is in the planning stages and is therefore a rough sketch.
For this project, we will need people willing to do the following:
draw multiple reference sheets for characters
draw backgrounds for scenes
compile all animations/pieces together in editing software
promote the project so it gains more traction
supervise specific sections to ensure they get done
This is a big project that I want to make, so I hope people can help it come true! There will be a discord server set up sometime this week, but progress may be slow due to my school life.
Hope you participate!

Pencil/2D Animation Resources Masterpost
5/10/24:
Hello, I broke into my old account so I could make a little masterpost of resources I come across for learning pencil/2D animation. (Free or affordable classes, places to get tools, videos to give insider insight, etc.) I may not be able to get everything included, so if you think of something, you can reach out and suggest things to add! I will be updating this over time, with notes on when it was last recently updated. And maybe I'll end up giving the old blog a refresh too. I likely won't be making new masterposts outside of this one any time soon, nor updating any old ones. It's been SEVERAL years, and the internet is a different place. I would assume most of the old links are out of date by now, unfortunately. I hope that this list is helpful to you as well, and if I'm incorrect in anything I list, I'm learning too! So please be patient with me and feel free to reach out with a correction. It's not finished yet, but Tumblr deletes my posts before I finish them, so I'm starting with posting the skeleton and slowly updating this)
Find a Community to Learn From!

Where Do I Get Tools?
(Places where you can buy art supplies, software, etc)
Cartoon Supplies
(Online seller who carries Ingram Bond paper, lightboxes, storyboard pads, blank cels, etc. See also: Lightfoot LTD, which is identical in every way to Cartoon Supplies and for the life of me I'm not sure the difference, though both are equally recommended along side each other.)
Jet Pens
(Ah... I love window-shopping this site. If you love stationary like I do, you'll be on this site for hours adding things to your cart... and inevitably removing them because it's not feasible to spend hundreds on pens and sticky-note pads.)
Dickblick
(I've found they have good prices on name brands, but I haven't purchased from them yet. Often, I'm too overwhelmed by all the choices.)
Improve Your Art/Learn the Basics!
(anatomy classes, starter tools, etc)
Aaron Blaise (Co-Director of Brother Bear)'s Online Classes
He runs very good deals on the classes occasional, but you can also do a year's access to all classes and keep what you download, which is very useful! They're short, quick lessons, and tend to veer into more "helpful tips" than teaching, from what I've personally noticed, but it's well worth the price if you get them at a good deal!
Inside Look at the Industry -- aka: the Special Features:
(behind the scenes stuff, etc)
Books are more useful than you might think!
(Richard Williams Animator's Survival Toolkit, etc) (check out gently used copies of these books on Thriftbooks for a good deal!)

Free software!
GIMP
(A classic, GIMP is an old friend of mine. The first software I downloaded for art, I used to use it almost entirely to create animated GIFs for the Warrior Cat forums. Ah, how time has passed. Nowadays I can't even remember how to animate a GIF on there, but such is life. I still use it to this day for digital art, even having Corel Painter. Before GIMP, I animated the old fashioned way -- MS paint and Windows Movie Maker. With determination, I scripted and animated a handful of Warrior Cat characters frame by frame. Each frame of Hollyleaf or whoever it was blinking was the likely source of death for our old computer, may she rest in peace.)
Storyboarder
(Storyboarder is a free software with which you can use to create professional and clean storyboards. It also provides printable storyboard templates so you can do you work traditionally and re-upload it easily into the software! It also works with Wacom tablets. Check it out! It's actually super cool.)
Pencil 2D
(A free, open source software. Simplistic design, switch between raster and vector, and best of all, again, it's free. I haven't used this one much yet, but I've seen it positively talked about by many! I'll update with more research when I have the chance.)
Krita
(I haven't used this one yet, so I can't speak on it either! But it's going on the list so I can come back and research it later. My poor laptop is not going to handle this many downloads lol.)
OpenToonz
(I also haven't tried this, but see above, haha.)
Blender - Grease Pencil
(Blender is well known for 3D animation, but they added a 2D feature called Grease Pencil as well.)
WriterDuet
(Free for up to 3 projects, very simple, but upgrades to a $10 a month plan, which is... eh, I'll keep my Scrivener for now. I used to write scripts in Microsoft Word or the Notepad on PC back in the day, I don't think I personally need the fancy features.)
Trelby
(A free screenwriting software, very basic and simple, good for beginners.)
Keep an eye out for

Two years ago when “Michael,” an owner of cryptocurrency, contacted Joe Grand to help recover access to about $2 million worth of bitcoin he stored in encrypted format on his computer, Grand turned him down.
Michael, who is based in Europe and asked to remain anonymous, stored the cryptocurrency in a password-protected digital wallet. He generated a password using the RoboForm password manager and stored that password in a file encrypted with a tool called TrueCrypt. At some point, that file got corrupted and Michael lost access to the 20-character password he had generated to secure his 43.6 BTC (worth a total of about €4,000, or $5,300, in 2013). Michael used the RoboForm password manager to generate the password but did not store it in his manager. He worried that someone would hack his computer and obtain the password.
“At [that] time, I was really paranoid with my security,” he laughs.
Grand is a famed hardware hacker who in 2022 helped another crypto wallet owner recover access to $2 million in cryptocurrency he thought he’d lost forever after forgetting the PIN to his Trezor wallet. Since then, dozens of people have contacted Grand to help them recover their treasure. But Grand, known by the hacker handle “Kingpin,” turns down most of them, for various reasons.
Grand is an electrical engineer who began hacking computing hardware at age 10 and in 2008 cohosted the Discovery Channel’s Prototype This show. He now consults with companies that build complex digital systems to help them understand how hardware hackers like him might subvert their systems. He cracked the Trezor wallet in 2022 using complex hardware techniques that forced the USB-style wallet to reveal its password.
But Michael stored his cryptocurrency in a software-based wallet, which meant none of Grand’s hardware skills were relevant this time. He considered brute-forcing Michael’s password—writing a script to automatically guess millions of possible passwords to find the correct one—but determined this wasn’t feasible. He briefly considered that the RoboForm password manager Michael used to generate his password might have a flaw in the way it generated passwords, which would allow him to guess the password more easily. Grand, however, doubted such a flaw existed.
Michael contacted multiple people who specialize in cracking cryptography; they all told him “there’s no chance” of retrieving his money. But last June he approached Grand again, hoping to convince him to help, and this time Grand agreed to give it a try, working with a friend named Bruno in Germany who also hacks digital wallets.
Grand and Bruno spent months reverse engineering the version of the RoboForm program that they thought Michael had used in 2013 and found that the pseudo-random number generator used to generate passwords in that version—and subsequent versions until 2015—did indeed have a significant flaw that made the random number generator not so random. The RoboForm program unwisely tied the random passwords it generated to the date and time on the user’s computer—it determined the computer’s date and time, and then generated passwords that were predictable. If you knew the date and time and other parameters, you could compute any password that would have been generated on a certain date and time in the past.
If Michael knew the day or general time frame in 2013 when he generated it, as well as the parameters he used to generate the password (for example, the number of characters in the password, including lower- and upper-case letters, figures, and special characters), this would narrow the possible password guesses to a manageable number. Then they could hijack the RoboForm function responsible for checking the date and time on a computer and get it to travel back in time, believing the current date was a day in the 2013 time frame when Michael generated his password. RoboForm would then spit out the same passwords it generated on the days in 2013.
There was one problem: Michael couldn’t remember when he created the password.
According to the log on his software wallet, Michael moved bitcoin into his wallet for the first time on April 14, 2013. But he couldn’t remember if he generated the password the same day or some time before or after this. So, looking at the parameters of other passwords he generated using RoboForm, Grand and Bruno configured RoboForm to generate 20-character passwords with upper- and lower-case letters, numbers, and eight special characters from March 1 to April 20, 2013.
It failed to generate the right password. So Grand and Bruno lengthened the time frame from April 20 to June 1, 2013, using the same parameters. Still no luck.
Michael says they kept coming back to him, asking if he was sure about the parameters he’d used. He stuck to his first answer.
“They really annoyed me, because who knows what I did 10 years ago,” he recalls. He found other passwords he generated with RoboForm in 2013, and two of them did not use special characters, so Grand and Bruno adjusted. Last November, they reached out to Michael to set up a meeting in person. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, they will ask me again for the settings.”
Instead, they revealed that they had finally found the correct password—no special characters. It was generated on May 15, 2013, at 4:10:40 pm GMT.
“We ultimately got lucky that our parameters and time range was right. If either of those were wrong, we would have … continued to take guesses/shots in the dark,” Grand says in an email to WIRED. “It would have taken significantly longer to precompute all the possible passwords.”
Grand and Bruno created a video to explain the technical details more thoroughly.
RoboForm, made by US-based Siber Systems, was one of the first password managers on the market, and currently has more than 6 million users worldwide, according to a company report. In 2015, Siber seemed to fix the RoboForm password manager. In a cursory glance, Grand and Bruno couldn’t find any sign that the pseudo-random number generator in the 2015 version used the computer’s time, which makes them think they removed it to fix the flaw, though Grand says they would need to examine it more thoroughly to be certain.
Siber Systems confirmed to WIRED that it did fix the issue with version 7.9.14 of RoboForm, released June 10, 2015, but a spokesperson wouldn’t answer questions about how it did so. In a changelog on the company’s website, it mentions only that Siber programmers made changes to “increase randomness of generated passwords,” but it doesn’t say how they did this. Siber spokesman Simon Davis says that “RoboForm 7 was discontinued in 2017.”
Grand says that, without knowing how Siber fixed the issue, attackers may still be able to regenerate passwords generated by versions of RoboForm released before the fix in 2015. He’s also not sure if current versions contain the problem.
“I'm still not sure I would trust it without knowing how they actually improved the password generation in more recent versions,” he says. “I'm not sure if RoboForm knew how bad this particular weakness was.”
Customers may also still be using passwords that were generated with the early versions of the program before the fix. It doesn’t appear that Siber ever notified customers when it released the fixed version 7.9.14 in 2015 that they should generate new passwords for critical accounts or data. The company didn’t respond to a question about this.
If Siber didn’t inform customers, this would mean that anyone like Michael who used RoboForm to generate passwords prior to 2015—and are still using those passwords—may have vulnerable passwords that hackers can regenerate.
“We know that most people don't change passwords unless they're prompted to do so,” Grand says. “Out of 935 passwords in my password manager (not RoboForm), 220 of them are from 2015 and earlier, and most of them are [for] sites I still use.”
Depending on what the company did to fix the issue in 2015, newer passwords may also be vulnerable.
Last November, Grand and Bruno deducted a percentage of bitcoins from Michael’s account for the work they did, then gave him the password to access the rest. The bitcoin was worth $38,000 per coin at the time. Michael waited until it rose to $62,000 per coin and sold some of it. He now has 30 BTC, now worth $3 million, and is waiting for the value to rise to $100,000 per coin.
Michael says he was lucky that he lost the password years ago because, otherwise, he would have sold off the bitcoin when it was worth $40,000 a coin and missed out on a greater fortune.
“That I lost the password was financially a good thing.”

Own Your Life - Books
In the spirit of gift giving and because @dalleyan made me think about it today, here's a list of articles and websites that may be of interest to those who like to read digital media, and do NOT like when the digital media that they paid for simply vanishes. (The future the tech companies want is 'everything is a subscription, and if you don't pay, you lose everything you ever had or did on this system'):
Anyway. I just thought this was interesting.

Sega Dreamcast - Shinkisekai Evolution: The World of Sacred Device
Title: Shinkisekai Evolution: The World of Sacred Device / 神機世界 エヴォリューション
Developer/Publisher: Sting / Neverland / Ikusabune / T's Music / Sega / Entertainment Software Publishing (ESP)
Release date: 21 January 1999
Catalogue No.: T-38701M
Genre: RPG
In ESP's first RPG endeavor for DC, Evolution introduces elements that are familiar to all levels of gamers engrossed with the challenges and diversity found in a variety of acclaimed RPGs. Though it does not come laden with a multitude of theatrical effects and breathtaking plotlines warranted to be scripted for full-featured films, it's the simplicity and appeal of the characters alone that I couldn't help but find enjoyable. Assuming the role of Mag Launcher, who's dreamt all his life of becoming a skilled adventurer on the same path as his parents. A month after his parents mysteriously disappear during an adventure, a lone girl appears at the doorstep of the Launcher home. Carrying along with a cryptic note from Mag's father, the message reads: "You must protect this girl, Linear, until I return..." From this point forward, Mag and Linear have tagged along together in search of rare treasures throughout the ruins of the Pannaman continent.
Right, so the story isn't exactly moving, but again, it's the execution in which this game presents itself that is exceptionally entertaining for anyone looking for a varied aspect from the typical RPG. For starters, all of the characters are splendidly portrayed with crisp, bright textures. There is a significant degree of animation that can be seen in abundance during battle sequences. In addition to a variety of voice samples that initiate when characters unleash critical hits, spells, or inflict damage, giving Mag and the supporting characters some added appeal, to the point that it gave the impression I was playing an interactive anime. The combat system is built on a command input-style setup...which allows for more strategy features that users would be familiar with. As a result, Evolution has created a unique approach to the overused system depicted in many RPGs (select character, select opponent, attack...select spell, select opponent, attack; been there, done that).
The factor that will most likely divert many gamers' attention from Evolution is the nature of 'exploring'. Each ruin requires you to climb (or descend) through a monster-filled dungeon. Although the degree of monsters, traps, and additional elements within the dungeons is randomized, it's an aspect that may dishearten those used to 'random encounters' and the wider environment as seen in titles such as Lunar or the acclaimed Final Fantasy series. Looking past this particular aspect, the randomizing feature warrants a unique experience each time the game is played.
At this point, I've reached a climax in the game's story, which denotes that I am halfway through the game. Warning to those looking to spend tons of hours on this one, the game is relatively short, and I am sure the upcoming sequel is not only much longer, but also more challenging in presentation and overall playability. Save for the full comprehensive review, Evolution is a game that upholds enthusiasm, passion, and individualism, elements sadly lacking in RPGs looking to follow the norm. It's for this reason alone that I fondly embraced Evolution for its endeavor to be different and extend beyond the technical and aesthetic of the typical titles of today.

( facts. )
despite the fact that gray is both aggressive and violent, he's not malicious. he doesn't make it his business to actively harm anyone, and he also doesn't derive any pleasure or positive feelings from hurting people or people getting hurt—he simply doesn't care if you do or don't get hurt. for the most part, if he doesn't get triggered or you don't try to control or deprive him, he's a pretty chill, laid-back dude.
gray is incredibly allergic to attempts at control exertion. so allergic, in fact, that while he doesn't like being told or forced to do what he doesn't want, he also doesn't do it to others. if you don't do something and it's no skin off his teeth, then he'll just shrug and move on. if you don't do something and it gets in the way of his ability to do something he wants to do or affects his own freedom, he'll simply attack you. still doesn't mean you have to do it, mind you. attacking you at that point isn't about trying to make you do something, rather than a reaction to being deprived.
although there's no instance of psychosis present in gray's pathology—not unrelated to drugs, at any rate—one could easily be confused that it might be simply because he has a habit of talking to himself. the biggest issue is that he also has a habit to mumble and mutter—even when he's talking to someone else.
gray is someone who is often incredibly stuck in his own head, to the point where he might zone out to retreat inside of his mind to entertain ideas, or follow mental rabbit holes. externally, it just looks like he goes on stand-by, but whenever gray does into this 'stand-by mode', usually he's visualising and solving problems, or he clocked out momentarily because what's going on in his own head is miles more interesting than whatever's going on outside it.
being hyperintelligent is something that most people would consider a positive, a guarantee to success; to a certain point, however, such level of intelligence stops one from being able to function, in society or otherwise. gray's mind is a machine, an incredibly fast, efficient machine that never stops, that can suck in and process information faster than it can be offered, and while it means he is an engineering prodigy and he has absolutely no lag between his mind and his reaction time—making that sometimes his body reacts before he's consciously aware of it—it also means that he's perpetually fighting against deadly boredom.
boredom is the force that makes him so incredibly maladjusted—aside from his history of violent childhood abuse and his poor socialisation, perhaps. when his mind starving for information or work that sparks creativity, imagination, or necessitates any sort of mental heavy-lifting, that boredom causes a feeling akin to severe anxiety. a restlessness, a physical pain, almost, that drives him to destroy rather than create. this is where most instances of violent destruction—such as arson, immolation, reckless endangerment of himself and others, etc—stems from. when gray is sufficiently stimulated and enriched throughout his day, he is absolutely harmless.
most women-shaped entities elicit more neutral reactions from gray, since at worst, women have been absent from his life and traumas. while as a rule, gray doesn't trust anyone, he trusts men least of all, especially when they're older than he is.
don't be nice to him. don't smile at him. at most, be neutral, treat him like he doesn't exist. paying any attention to him is like needles on his skin. he doesn't want to be perceived, he wants to be left to his own devices. being nice to him is bad, because people aren't nice, and being nice to him means you have an ulterior motive. and that means you're a threat.
afterglow is very careful about what tools they provide him to do the work they force him to do, simply because it's established that he can do a lot of damage with even a little bit. he's a very prolific hacker, and for years he was a thorn in afterglow's side, jacking very important research right from their servers—which he'd slice through like a knife through hot butter—and selling them to the highest bidders, and if he was feeling particularly malicious, he'd just delete dependencies—tools or research upon which other research was reliant to proceed, effectively scuttling a whole bunch of projects in one fell swoop. this all stopped three years ago, and it's the main reason why he's banned from accessing anything with a connection to servers or given anything that he can use to access servers.
