i’ve also had a lot of “you are great but i’m seeing someone else now, bye” experiences. like, this happened three times. two in one year 😭 it takes a while to get over that and restore your self confidence, lol!!

Zukka week 2023

Day 2: turtleduck pond & second chance (FLWOGB)

"Hina claps with awe at the eruption of flames from Zuko’ skin. It is yellow, yes, orange too, but there is purple in the fire, and green, and red, blue, white, pink and more, all dazzling and brilliant as they burst from Zuko’s palms.

“Cool!” she yells, but Sokka hears her as if from a distance, finds his heart catching somewhere between his throat and mouth at the sight of Zuko’s shy smile, the rainbow reflected in his eyes. The light flickers over both their faces, vibrant and ethereal.

Sokka turns on his heels slowly, awestruck at the colourful warmth surrounding them. Zuko’s taken care to keep the flames a safe distance away, but Sokka can still feel the gentle heat of the fire flowing around him. It sinks into his skin, pushes all the way through to some unknown, untouched part of him that resides deep within his chest, making it unfurl until its blossoms peek out like the first buds of spring. And when he comes to a stop right back where he started—staring at Zuko’s cupped hands, his upturned mouth, his hair shimmering a thousand different shades, the way he looks up at Sokka just then with his unscarred eye squinting at its corner, bright and effusive and striking— the blossoms spread wide in his chest, trailing up and down and throughout him, catching at his seams. Coming alive.

And he thinks, oh.

For this prompt for @usamamoweek I read it as missed connections at first. So that's what images below show. @caelenath also mentioned that it could be "second try" for something I have done before, which is where last year's UsaMamoWeek2023 post from Free Day - Hands Touching comes in.

Taking direct inspiration from my old university newspaper - Classifieds was another way to show missed connections. Yes - @caelenath helped with wording on one of them. Yes - they are all adjusted to fit the SM universe. Yes - I got it mocked up and printed. And if you would like to read the full article that's on the left hand side - here is the link to Vogue.

I've been reading a lot of other fanfics to keep myself sane while waiting for the next chapter of Second to release and I never realized how much you write like I've read entire fics in a single sitting and thought "hmh i got time for more reading" and then read 1/2 of another fic. idk if this makes any sense its currently 12:04am where i am and ive been up since 5am

Oh dude I know exactly what you mean man I always sit here and think to myself "Yeah I write a lot but it's not like a HUGE amount" and then I go back and read my older chapters and I'm like.... This took me almost a whole day to read/process 😆

So, in a situation in which both Spider and Kiri have been captured by the RDA and Quaritch proposes to use them both as guides in their search for Jake, how long do you think it would take for either him or someone else in the recom team to realize she is Grace's daughter, I don't think neither of them would say it willingly, specially if they know that Quaritch was the reason she died.

How do you think he would feel about it, specially seeing how close she and Spider are when they hated each other's guts when she was alive / he was still a human.

I think in a way, quaritch would realize it first even he didn't know it. he knows that face, that wit, that sharp tongue; kiri is so much like grace he would be put off by her in a way he didn't understand.

its the necklace that makes that makes him truly realize who the girl is. its the same ratty thing that grace had gotten from a group of na'vi kids all those years ago. now this kid who is worming her way into his skull and making him rethink everything he has ever and will ever know, is wearing it, and he hated how it all made sense. though he makes the realization he never tells anyone, though they all sorta 'know' like quaritch had, and she does eventually admit it.

by the time the realization is made and acknowledged, quaritch has had time to reflect and devolve on who he was, who the RDA wants him to be, and who he wants to be. he's becoming enough of his own person to regret what he did to grace, part of him hates it actually. being around her daughter, a daughter he doesn't fully understand how she exists, who never knew her mother because of him, it makes it all so much worse.

he doesn't know how to feel, what he's supposed to feel, what he's allowed to feel. he holds no ill will towards to her or her relationship to spider, but the more he sees of grace within kiri, the harder it is to be around her.

now our intuitive girl sees this, knows she's breaking him, knows he's made the connection as to who her mother is; she uses this. she knows what Eywa wills her to do and does it beautifully. she uses all of this information to the extreme, she plans on breaking every last bit of quaritch the RDA built, and bringing out every ounce of this new na'vi Miles.

this leads to an interesting dynamic, one not unwelcome, but not easy. its a path of change and healing, acknowledging things that may have been better left buried, its not fun by any right.
