My partner and I held a vigil tonight for some of Florida's missing Indigenous women. We drew their portraits based on their missing persons photos.

Fire on the west coast and snow on the east coast… and the circumstances of the day… made me think of this poem:
Fire and Ice - by Robert Frost
Some say the world will end in fire, Some say in ice. From what I’ve tasted of desire I hold with those who favor fire. But if it had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate To say that for destruction ice Is also great And would suffice.

Happy Thursday! I hope you're having a great day. Today is a national day of mourning for the passing of our 39th President, Jimmy Carter. His selfless dedication to serving others is a shining example that one person can make a difference in the world. May he rest in peace. 🙏

Today is November 28th, 2024. For the settler world, this day is called Thanksgiving. But for Native/Indigenous Americans, it's a Day of Mourning, as this day was built off of colonialist genocide of Indigenous people, namely the Wampanoags. Don't fall for that revisionist tale of this day being a friendly dinner party between the Natives and the pilgrims--this day was not a friendly dinner party. This day was a day of genocide.
Am I demonizing anybody that's celebrating Thanksgiving and spending time with their families? No. Not by any means.
However, I am calling out and criticizing the American education system and mainstream culture for repeatedly pushing a false revisionist tale that paints this day as some friendly feast when it isn't. And I am stating that it's important that each and everyone of us educate ourselves and make ourselves aware of the true history of this day, honor, acknowledge and respect the memories of Indigenous people that were genocided and honor, acknowledge and respect Indigenous people-- elders and descendants--that are still here, that are still alive and paved the way for us to survive, thrive, build and maintain our culture and work towards honesty, reconciliation and healing for the present and the future. And this is especially important for me to speak this from the heart as an Afro-Indigenous individual (with Wampanoags being one of my tribes and my people).
I am the descendant of a proud, strong, beautiful and resilient Indigenous people that colonialist settlers couldn't kill.
And that on its own is enough reason to celebrate and have thankfulness and gratitude.

We stole their land and celebrate yearly, rubbing it in their faces. Openly parading around in joy about a time when mass genocide was committed, all while white washing the real history. Appalling.

October 26 Int’l Day of OFMD Mourning
I’m feeling for everyone.
I’ve been through HUGH disappointments with shows, even recently.
I’ve rage quit more than one thing.
massive hugs to all who are having a tough day.
I just can’t focus on what I’m supposed to be doing.
A little disappointed but happy about many developments in the show.

On this sad day, Kalos News Network would like to take a moment of silence for all those who perished in Geosenge when the Ultimate Weapon was fired.
[A video, its a list of named scrolling past the screen while sad stock music is playing in the background. Before the video, an unskippable ad plays.]

You know, I was hoping I'd be able to just spend a day with my sister completely offline but apparently not.
Attention, everyone: please do not try to hop the fences in Geosenge. They are there for your safety. There is no secret treasure, there is only radiation poisoning.

So, today is a very special and sad day for me.
Two of my absolute best friends have their birthday today, but both passed on in the last year. One was my ex, who I dated for 4 years and who was the godmother of my youngest daughter.
They would have been 38.
I want all of you to remember your loved ones and cherish them. It can all go away so fast.
