Do y'all think CyberLife was cool with the case going federal and then going to Perkins in conjunction with the Army? I got a sensation we got a conflict of interests here, even tho Cristina is a CyberLife puppet in the presidency and Perkins is acting directly under her orders when the revolution becomes a national threat.

At the same time CyberLife wanna end the revolution and continue to sell, they also wanted the deviants alive for study and "find a way it never happens again" (hmm). They first wanted the leader alive, but the army's orders is pretty much termination on sight.

I guess even if they're all cooperating (Feds, National Guard, SWAT, Connor under CyberLife) I don't think all parties agree with each other even if they got 1/5 interests in common. Would be interesting if they don't and we also got problems in communication. Cuz Connor, directly under CyberLife only, is pretty much isolated from the rest. Means CyberLife still doing 'em shit behind the curtains, even if it falls into "the right guys" hands later. Like they want the control of things I all places (independently, gov, police), just waiting to see which one of 'em gonna fail or succeed.

5. ROMANCE: Duh, it's like 90% of the shit I write lmao. I am the hopeless romantic of hopeless romantics, and I only want happy endings (even if said "happy ending" is debatably positive or otherwise bittersweet; if they end up together, I'm satisfied). Point being, I am a fucking sap and not afraid to admit it. My favorite kind is falling in love, so I will read and write the same two characters doing just that a hundred times over and want it a hundred times more. If it says "_____ to lovers" gimme gimme gimme.

4. SEX WORK: Bit out of left field, but I enjoy many different forms of sex work in romance and angst (i.e. phone operators like my fic includes, call boys on the corner, porn/streaming, chatting, etc etc). This is one of the few subjects I don't mind writing in a modern setting for, because technology can actually make it interesting in ways that it doesn't for me otherwise. And going into my next point...

3. PERIOD PIECES: Anything set before 2005 or so is my go-to, mostly because I just really don't find it interesting to write within a time frame I'm familiar with. Especially not social media. There are a few exceptions--Kurt Kunkle being one of them since his whole thing is based around this specific era of the internet, but generally I prefer older settings. 70s-90s are my favorite, I like the 20s-40s for mob and war stuff, 18-19th centuries are fun too. Medieval shenanigans from time to time, I'm not too picky :P

Stemming from this, I also do like stories set far into the future (like DBH, which granted isn't that far, but it feels far) because it's also unfamiliar, and there's a lot you can do with tech that doesn't exist!

2. WORLDBUILDING: Not something I share, but I've been deeply invested in it since middle school--constructed languages, religion, politics, species, races, biology, etc. It's just fucking fascinating. And while it's a hobby that I sort of drop and pick back up from time to time, it's always always always just as interesting when I go back to it. The interest stemmed from when I found out that Simlish wasn't just random garble, and then I learned that Na'vi is a heavily developed language, which led me to the world of conlang, and now I'm a linguistics nerd on the downlow, so. Yeah. I've got ideas on how to incorporate that into Stranger Things; maybe I'll write them xD

1. CHARACTER STUDIES: And, at the top of the list, by contrast, I don't actually give a shit about the world most of the time. I want to dig into one character's brain with a hammer and chisel and feel every sense through words on the page. Goes hand in hand with romance, but I'm interested in relationships as a whole (romantic, platonic, siblings, parent/child, etc), and I want it from one perspective at a time. I want to see how a character evolves through the circumstances. What motivates them, what's their breaking point, what makes them shut down, what makes them desperate enough to beg. I'm more interested in internal struggles than external, which is what you'll find in my longfics since there's more room to explore, and that's how I tend to form characters in my head.

So, tldr, old-timey romance with a dose of modern influence that's seen through one character, and--separately--textbook-level info on the complexities of a constructed world :)

I’m realizing I skimmed this question so I’ll give you two answers cause I have this whole chunk typed out looool.

Oh my god, if I wouldn’t find it so tedious, maybe edit the first fic I ever wrote, Ex Animo. It’s sort of a half a retelling of the original plot and half self indulgence and I really meant for there to be this super dark and wicked crime mystery, very body snatcher and political within DBH post revolution, but I honestly fell out of love writing it cause I wanted to move on from it.

OKAY. Back on track:

Darkest of Hearts is a Nines/Reader and he’s just soaked in blood, she’s soaked in blood, they make out and it’s hot. It doesn’t have as much interest and it may be due to how many “omg there’s blood” tags. (It’s not even that bad but juuuust in case).

It was my first attempt at present tense too, so it’s a bit rocky in some scenes but I really liked the imagery of these two secret agents and the dark romance they have with each other.

🌿how does creating make you feel?

So good, heheh. It’s a great outlet. I’m always kinda thinking of ideas and it’s so fun having a place to write them down and even better if someone enjoys it.

🎈describe your style as a writer; is it fixed? does it change?

Overtime, my style’s changed a lot. I started off with a very reader POV focused style. Now though, how I tell a story varies depending on what I’d like to tell. The voice in Dollhouse is eerie and I try to add lots of suspense and tension in contrast to any of the TNDB stories where it’s just sunshine and bubblegum.

Overall, I think how I try to dig into a character has a bit of a recognizable pattern. In a good way, though! I can tell when I’m writing something that’s meant to be introspective for a character and that the pacing of their self discovery follows a similar beat to some of my other stories. Like we’ve hit an emotional plateau, cut to more action, k now more emotions.

I enjoy good plot, which I think goes hand in hand with some world building (context for the plot). But I also just really adore character explorations, putting them in highly emotional circumstances and seeing how they can mirror our humanity.

To be honest? Originally, just cause I really wanted to read the scenarios I was bugging other writers about and then the secondhand embarrassment of sending them so many prompts had me going: oh fine, I can try and see how it goes. 🤣💀

Now? I’m just so stoked to have a chance to put some ideas I have on paper cause I’m always imagining things and it used to go nowhere so now it can at least live somewhere in the internet ✨

I think playing DBH has made us realise how our brain works. I can kind of relate to how androids in the game function. With like a main mission and smaller goals. And man, it's difficult to say which fandom I like the most. Apart from DBH, I haven't really interacted with what I would think of as The Fanbase™, so for the sake of comparison I'll focus on the characters.

My favourite characters - if we talk about canon - are probably Death Stranding. I don't reblog stuff from that game often, but the humanity of the main cast is amazing, and the struggle against a quiet, unforgiving landscape... let's say it is A Vibe.

In terms of the favourite cast that I like to play with like a collection of dolls, however, I'll have to say Call of Duty. I'm only familiar with the reboot universe, but between mw19, mw2, and mw3, there is actually a lot of characters I can work on. It helps that the operators' backgrounds are on the vaguer side, which gives me a lot more room in terms of their backstory, characterisation, relationships, etc. Some of my interpretations are quite different from the so-called fanon though, and most of the characters I'm into aren't exactly the most popular ones anyway - e.g. my Otter/Wyatt fanfic is the second fic with the tag on ao3 and they've been around since mw19 - so most of my ideas exist either in Discord DMs or WIPs in my Google Drive. Maybe I'll finish another one some day. Idk if you've read the omegaverse aledolfo fic but by god that universe has expanded a lot since that fic and has got a lot darker too. I won't call my interpretations canon though, because again, the actual 'canon' of the operators can fit into half a sheet of A4 paper. Not saying I'm disregarding it though; I know ignoring canon is the approach of a lot of people, but for myself I prefer knowing the rules before breaking them. It's just more fun to me to work within the loose limits set by the information provided to us in the games.

When it comes to favourite cast to write, it's a tie between CoD and Mass Effect: Andromeda, the former because I always have fresh ideas and the characters are legit fun to play with (especially if you allow them to be toxic, make mistakes, and be their own self instead of shoving them into a select few tropes), the latter because I keep returning to them. Nothing grand about the MEA cast because most of my ideas are closer to slice-of-life things, but boy is CoD's dynamics fun to play around. The international politics. The implications of the different factions in mw19. The composition of the two PMCs in mw2. I know a lot of people try to stay on top of the politics, but why sanitise things when leaning hardcore into the political aspect makes the sandbox so much more interesting and dramatic?

I can go on for much longer, but what I have in mind will probably take days if not weeks to comb through. Anyways, hope I've answered your question, and feel free to ask any follow-up questions if you have any!

DBH part 20

Few weeks later

At E's home office

E sat on his desk, he was working like usual when he received a wedding invitation in his mailbox. E was about to dispose of it but the name attached to it made him pause.

He opened it and as it turned out, Mt and Co were having a wedding next year. E was hesitant if he should call his assistant but caved in and send him his best wishes to the 2 of them.

Mt was in his apartment, already furiously at planning his big dad, got his boss's text and was happy to receive his approval. He and Co had some run ins, back when Mt and her officially met. But he was not paying much attention to her.

He had no real opinion of her. Most likely bc she was not classy, but Good enough to date his assistant.Co was still at work, her colleagues and superiors asked her to stay home and plan her wedding but the woman politely declined and refused to do so.

She would help Mt once she came back home anyway so there isnt anything to worry about. Mt was already pretty far along with it as well.

From what she could tell, it seemed that he had it all thought out. Both her and his preferences were taken to account all by himself. As if he knew that the day would come.

Co snickered at the thought but went back to work and started checking her files.

At her lunch break, Mt sent her all the flower arrangement options the florist offered them. They all were pretty nice but ultimately chose the light pink roses with apple flower buds.He asked her was what kind of jewels she wanted to wear. Co had to think very hard on that. She really liked jewellery like every other girl and woman does. But she was very picky regardless.

She wrote him back that she needed some time to think about it. Mt understood as he saw her message and left her be.The rest of her break she took to socialmedia to see the newest trends and hot topics aabout necklaces and bracelets. Most topics had various stars and wives from influential families boasting about their latest finds and gifts. None were really standing out for her. Not much to gosh at in her opinion either.

She herself had pretty well off parents but she never liked the popular designers. She used to date a guy who was pretty famous for his stuff. But after sometime he became arrogant and entitled. She had a hard time breaking up with him as well. He was making her feel small and unheard from what she wanted in life.

That was until he got into a car accident back in france. She was sad at first, but also, secretly relieved that she didnt have to be around his toxic presents any longer.

Coincidentally on top of that, that was one year prior when she started her temporary internship where they eventually met for the 1st time.

So all in all she was happy for the out come but also made her reconsider newbies or over confident fashion designers if they make her feel disgusted.

Her late ex was not the only fashikn guru she had know either. At the galas these 2 attended pretty much everyone was a snob or, even worse, nosey. She had to make a clear headed decision if she wanted the wedding to be perfect. But all they had were pictures that either screamed rich kid or over designed junk.

Until she came across a post from a famliar person. She scrolled for a very long time to the point were sje hot old or overlooked revies and pics. It was an old post from E, which the caption 'Gifts that we got from our kids'.

Nobody reacted to it bc the only ppl allowed to see were friends & family. Co and E friended eachother, although the grumpy man was reluctant to do so.

A bottle of wine and a bag came to view and she came to a hold. The handback was nice and all bit she was captivated by the simple yet beautiful trinket hanging from it.

She bookmarked this post to show it to her husband-to-be later at home. She hoped he knows who made it. She didnt want to bother his boss about it. So she wanted it to work out for her.

Cause I'm not really into any ships in this fandom, but I know some people don't want their stuff reblogged by other people who aren't into a tagged ship or are into a ship that Isn't tagged and so on, and I'd like to reblog, but I don't want to step on any toes. The fanart doesn't seem to have anything related to the tagged ship in it which is why I'm curious.

Oh, I just didn't think about it. I used the tags I saw recommended, and I like the ship (had it in mind while sketching, I'm just intimidated about drawing Hank tbh) soo I picked on it. Didn't know it was an issue. I removed it, as I now see it doesn't make a lot of sense to other people.

Detroit: Become Human?

(I’ve never played DBH, but there was a point a couple of years ago where my entire dash was this guy. I googled it this morning to answer this ask and only then discovered there were like three main characters and not just him 😂)

Were the SQs that weak back in prototype and early versions? By 2038 mfs are just buying 200k+ of these suckas like it's nothing.

Not that I think the cost was the same back when the generals first asked for soldier models, probably got cheaper with time - also the gov's corrupt handshakes with CyberLife in all the campaigns they invested.

Now - I'm quite certain the new RKs are more expensive, but they were requested by the DoS and ain't soldier models neither exactly law enforcement models. Still 200k+ of these mfs, man. Are they really that fucking expendable?

Kenshi crossover petered off for now, and I started a Detroit Become Human crossover with Assassin’s Creed, which is now at chapter 10 so... time for status report.

Fic’s name is, currently, Renascence, and I’m probably keep that way. Takes place 1 year after DBH peaceful ending where everyone lived and it was nice. Also has RK900 and Gavin Reed as work partners in DPD. Hank and Connor started a new branch, the Android Crimes Division. It’s great. And then come the AC elements. which I won’t get into because spoilers.

The fic’s at least currently leans more to the DBH side, with AC stuff being kind of like “case of the week” element, but that might change. There’s action, there’s intrigue, android politics, some AU elements, someone almost dies, all the fun things.  Fingers crossed for the rest.

Sneak peak of Renascence Chapter 1

It'd been a year and Hank has only just started getting used to the weirdness of android crimes. Not, that is to say, crimes committed on androids – those generally follow the same banal style, be it hate crime, sex crime, or general every day human bullshit, those have already gotten so damn repetitive as to get fucking tiresome. Humans in general haven't changed, even if some of them have brand new illegal target to beat up.

But crimes committed by androids, once they have really come to their own, are… inhuman. Not cruel or particularly nasty, but simply the sort of crimes humans wouldn't think to do, necessarily, because the urges are completely different. And sure there were the normal sort, theft, murder, mayhem, all the good stuff. But then there was the other stuff.

With humans you don't have to worry about a human hunting down other humans in order to chop off their limbs to add them into themselves to form a sort of multi-limbed horror monster. They'd seen that one three months after the revolution, a former WE300 android turned into a human spider, because being bound by human body restraints was inadequate and androids shouldn't be confined to what humans considered most efficient. Trying to deal with the aftermath of that was something else – there was a whole redistribution of stolen limbs, it was weird.

You also don't have to worry about a human integrating themselves into the automated systems of a construction site in order to take it over to try and create… whatever it was that the WR400 had been trying to create. The net called it the ark, and there's still wild speculation going on. The WR400 completely mangled his own body to do the rewiring, and in the end they hadn't been able to untangle the android from the system – and something about putting a computer server into prison was just… it smacked of ridiculousness.

A human might hack an automated system, sure – but so far humans hadn't yet figured how to upload their consciousness into self-driving vehicles – androids, after one of them figured out how to do it, had made it their version of joyriding. Just hop out of your body and into a cab and go speeding down the wrong way on a highway. They had few deaths that way, human and android both, before they started patching up those holes in the firewalls. Still happened, and it was still messed up and weird and unique to androids.

And Hank was damn happy he didn't have to deal with the android that momentarily hijacked the systems of the space station, that was a shit show and no mistake.

But after a while, he'd started to get a hang of it. Androids, testing limits, going overboard, getting messed up – not that different from humans doing the same, they just had different means and different triggers. And with the laws still only marginally even thought of, they didn't have much restraint to their brand of weirdness. How do you even deal with someone who stole a state of the art artificial tiger and decided to turn themselves into a tiger-android… centraur-thing?

Android self-expression, man.

"Makes me miss having to deal with just the homicide," Hank mutters, not for the first time. But no, there was a new department, first in the nation, Android Crimes Division, and he just happened to be the sad sack of shit who had to deal with it.

"Well, one can't say it's boring," Connor says, placing a cup of coffee beside him. "What's on the docket today, Lieutenant?"

Hank huffs and reaches for the cup, waving to the screen – three times as big as his old one, because upgrades, people, upgrades. "Weird activity at what was supposed to be an abandoned building. Someone went in, had a look, found androids and got freaked out and made a report. Your usual thing," he says. "Did us a favour of taking pictures, though."

Connor hums, sitting on the edge of his table to look – still doing those human gestures, even though he could just download the files into his brain. "Well," he says.

Hank hums in agreement, leaning back.

In the image there are three androids standing on pedestals – none of them matching any of the standard models, though they're obviously been built up on CyberLife designs, judging by the one in the front, which has their skin turned off. All the androids are male, outwardly, but Hank knows that doesn't really mean anything these days. Half of the androids he knows – personally, these days, because he knows more androids than human people, it feels like – don't even conform to gender anymore. Still, if the other two matched the first, then they had CyberLife bodies with… modifications.

There is a web of wires running between the three androids, connecting them to each other by their temples – and the one in the middle with its skin turned off has eyes that glow faintly yellow.

"Why are we not going there, Lieutenant?" Connor asks curiously. "This looks like something right up our alley."

"It is – the site is being secured," Hank agrees, scratching at his chin. "And we're gonna head over there. I'm just…" he sighs. "Jurisdiction."

"Ah," Connor says, understanding. "Modified, potentially uninitialised androids, maybe even homemade ones. Depending on the state of things, this might be Jericho's jurisdiction."

"Well, we still got the first go, as per usual," Hank muses. "Still, I'm thinking we need a consult for this one, just in case. Think you can call up someone?"

"You could call yourself."

"Yeah, but it's so much faster when you do it." Connor doesn't have to go through all the bullshit of actually talking to people. And getting through to the big shots at Jericho is a pain even at the best of times, these days – even with his reputation, Hank is usually on hold for at least half an hour.

Connor smiles and then looks away, his eyelids fluttering as he sends a message to someone, his eyes going all vacant. Then he blinks. "Simon is free and happy to offer his assistance in this matter," he says and reaches over to touch the panel of Hank's computer. "I am sending him the address – he will meet us there in twenty minutes."

"Great," Hank says and sits up, taking the coffee cup with him. "Let's go."

when I started shipping it if I did: i think 1-2 months ago? not long after i got into dbh tbh. i was immediately drawn to their hunter/hunted to allies dynamic and THE INHERENT EROTICISM OF TRYING TO KILL EACH OTHER.

What makes me happy about them: i think there’s just SO much potential like they are literally red string of fate tied to each other, their destined to kill each other but they unshackle themselves from that and choose their own futures. they’re the only RK models in existence!!!! they understand each other in a way no one else can. if they don’t trust and believe in each other it literally ends in their deaths, the deaths of their people, the destruction of everything but if they do take that leap of faith they free each other, their people, they save the world. they just compliment each other so well like they’re so similar and yet entirely different, and like i am ALWAYS thinking about the look on connor’s face when he hears markus speak for the first time in stratford tower... the look on his face!! the way markus can convince connor to deviant with a few short sentences... even tho connor has actively been fighting that all game. THERE’S JUST SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE. IT’S SO INTERESTING. also they are both so pretty <3

What makes me sad about them: uh well a) any scenario where they do not choose to believe in each other and thus uh kill each other!! like it’s compelling and hurts in a juicy angst way but it IS sad wtf. also like just the incredible work they’d need to do post-canon to even be in a place where either of them would feel comfortable in a relationship. i also think there’s a lot of sadness potential in having to unpack connor deviating, being taken back over, and then fighting free and both he and markus having to reckon with that and if connor can be trusted in his own body :( SAD

things done in fanfic that annoys me: i feel like fic connor is often written incredibly ooc? like he becomes this like shell of the compelling and nuanced character that he is. like he just becomes either this like fragile, helpless thing that needs markus to save him all the time or just acts like??? idk just so ooc. what i love about markus and connor is that they’re both layered in the sense that they both have softer, domestic sides to them but they’re absolute stone cold badasses when they need to me. turning them one dimensional turns me off. 

things I look for in fanfic: nuanced characterization. not villainizing north. NOT ERASING JOSH. i’m still too early in my dbh fandom experience to chase after AUs yet, so i mostly read canon stuff that explores markus and connor realizing they have feelings for each other and what that means. how do you even unpack then when having feelings is like a newly unlocked experience for you? meanwhile this is all happening on a backdrop of the android revolution, and the political minefield that is advocating for legislation that gives them rights. i’ve always been a big lover of plot and character exploration supporting each other, so i enjoy fics the most when the actual plot has meat to it too. canon compliant/post-canon is the best. also am a big fan of outsider pov fics or fics where their relationship goes public and they gotta deal with that on top of all the political stuff.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: literally markus is incredibly shippable. i think the actual game could’ve handled him and north way better but in fanon people can make them so compelling! and i think both markus/josh on a pacifist backdrop and markus/north on a violent backdrop are rife with possibilities. i haven’t really explored simon/markus tbh and i don’t particularly feel compelled to YET but i do see the potentials in that i think they are very similar in a lot of ways: weighing multiple options, seeing both sides, but markus is more active and simon is more passive and i think that makes for interesting character exploration. tbhhhhhh i really struggle to see connor with anyone but markus, but i think connor/north could have a lot of potential in the sense that they are SO similar, but i also think after all the violence in connor’s life, connor/josh has the potential to be very sweet and heartwarming also.

My happily ever after for them: slowly coming to terms with what their feelings are, revealing them to each other, and taking a relationship slowwwww because they have a lot going on. leading the androids to freedom n equality and finally being able to just live in peace without being worried about another fight. supporting each other in figuring out after all this, what do they want out of life? and knowing they’re going to figure it out together. they get cats. 

who is the big spoon/little spoon: i don’t think they stick to strict designations like this. i bet they switch tbh depending on who needs to be held most that day, you know? connor has a lot of mental shit to work thru, markus is bearing an incredibly stressful responsibility on their shoulders. i think they both like being both the big n little spoon sometimes. [ariana grande voice] it’s equality.

what is their favorite non-sexual activity: i am a BIG SUCKER for markus teaching connor really mundane life things the way carl taught him so like playing piano or painting for fun and not off programming scripts, markus teaching connor to cook, really just spending quality time you know?

Thank you so much @emiliaf25 for tagging me!!! I've seen a lot of fun writing tag games going around, but I haven't been tagged in any before now. This is probably due to the fact that while I write a lot, I don't publish most of my stories so like no one knows lol. I tried to put these in chronological order from newest to oldest, but they're not perfect, as I do not keep accurate time of when I write things (and probably should). Anyway, here are mine:

1. Blasting heavy metal so I can't think

"Heavy Metal": Detroit: Become Human (This one is in the form of a poem, so that's why it's a bit weird.)

2. Markus's head popped out of the last bedroom.

Function (Free Will): original. I have been working on this story for nearly 2 years now, and I'm still nowhere even close to done. It's formatted like a script and also has the same type of rpg choice-based storytelling as Detroit: Become Human. Add to that the fact that this story is meant to critique our current political and social society, systems, and structure and touches on a variety of incredibly heavy topics, and you have the recipe for writing a story that feels like it just. Never. Ends.

20. LAUREN: 8:51, hmm? I've already been here for 11 minutes, and no one else has shown up.

"Choices": a horrible original romantic comedy I wrote as a script 5 years ago. Tbh the idea wasn't even that bad, it was the execution of it that just... really sucked. So it's a good thing we're stopping here, as if I went any farther back in my writing history, I think I might just cringe myself to death.

Woo, thank god we're done with that! XD In all seriousness though, this was quite a bit of fun and got me to revisit pieces I hadn't seen in years. Thank you again for the tag!!! :DDDD

Now for which one is my favorite... there are some that are definitely good, and others that are definitely bad. I like numbers 2 (cute opening line for a fluffy fic), 5 (wordplay with "coiled" and Crowley being a snake), 7 (twisting of an expected trope), 8 (brings in scifi element and introduces the character's personality while hooking the reader in), 9 (set up for the tone of the rest of the chapter and immediately introduces tension), 11 (same as previous), and 12 (also attention-grabbing), so we'll just let those make up for whatever atrocities 16 (horrible imitation of corporate writing), 20 (just plain boring), and the attempt of 18 (I had the right idea of it being a hook, the execution however was horrific) were. I start a lot of my pieces with dialogue, or at least I used to. I became aware of that within the past year and tried to work on introducing stories in other ways, which I think I've done a pretty good job on. If I had to pick a favorite, I'd probably go with 7. I just really like the subversion of expectations that you get right away from it. It announces the trope loud and clear, but plays with it instead of following it.

Janwum Update: 16,141

I’m just gonna think out loud for a minute.   Here’s a screencap of Chi-Chi for you to look at while you nod politely during my mad ramblings.

All right, so yesterday I was trying to figure out how Trunks could investigate Luffa’s backstory without altering history, and I considered some sort of alternative time machine tech, like the stuff they use for Parallel Quests, but then I realized they already have something like that in the SDBH games.   

The plot of World Mission introduced this idea that SDBH runs on a simulated version of history.   Beat and Note are Earthlings who just like playing video games, but the bad guy, Sealas, is trying to use the game as a model for the real world.   He changes history inside the game world to see how it’ll affect the game world’s present, and this let’s him test out how his plans will work on the real thing.   So the Time Patrol sent Trunks to stop him, and he assembled the Dragon Ball Heroes Team to help him defeat Sealas in the game.    Then the tech they use to fight in the game world somehow gets used to give them real powers in the real world, and I have no idea how that works.   The point is, it’s a simple matter for Trunks to use the SDBH simulation to investigate clues of Luffa’s origins.  He can’t just relive the first 140-odd chapters of my fanfic, because he doesn’t know exactly where or when to go, but he could if he had that information.   So this is perfect, I can have him pull an all-nighter in the Hero Lab learning bits and pieces of what I want him to know.  

For my part, the biggest hassle I have in working DBH continuity in with Xenoverse continuity is the frequent use of Xeno Goku and Xeno Vegeta.    They’re like alternate versions of the Goku and Vegeta we see in Dragon Ball Super, but they never really explain where they came from.    The manga suggested that Chronoa summoned them from Trunks own memory, except he shouldn’t remember anything about Super Saiyan 4, or fusion, or whatever else. Even if there were a suitable account for this, I wouldn’t want to use it, because it defeats the plot of the Xenoverse games.   Why should Trunks wish for a partner if he can just call up Goku and Vegeta whenever he needs help?    An Xenoverse 1 even ends with Chronoa summoning regular Goku to pitch in against Demigra, so it just doesn’t work.  So I’m sort of going with the idea that a lot of DBH stories happened, but without these “Xeno” characters involved.  

I think that’s probably in the spirit of the concept.    The SDBH games probably only used those characters to beef up the Time Patrol’s ranks, since Trunks doesn’t have a legion of OC’s to back him up like he does in the Xenoverse games.    On the flipside, the SDBH anime hardly ever uses Time Patrol Trunks.   They just want an extra Goku and Vegeta on hand, for whatever reason.  And there’s no sign of Beat and Note, which is kind of weird, since they’re the stars of the game.    These things are modular, so I think it’s fitting that I only use the DBH components I want, and not the ones I don’t want. 

What was tripping me up was the idea that the SDBH game is somehow able to replicate events recorded in the Scroll of Eternity, like Capsule Corp. has the technology to read this cosmic document and write source code that’s compatible with it.    I figure that it must have been a project designed by the Time Patrol.   They wanted a simulation for training and research purposes, so they rigged it up within this arcade game.     It’s mostly harmless, until a rogue Patroller like Sealas tried to exploit it against them.

The main side effect of all this is that I can’t see a lot of the goofier power ups from SDBH working in my continuity.    Trunks had to go Super Saiyan God to defeat Mechikabura, which doesn’t really work with Xenoverse 1, where he has absolutely no idea what Super Saiyan God is.    I watched some videos of a playthrough of World Mission and Beat discovers he’s one of Goku’s descendants, and so he eventually learns to turn Super Saiyan Blue.    That’s not a terrible idea in a story where SSJ4 Gogeta is teaming up with him, but without Gogeta, I’m probably better off saying Beat doesn’t have divine ki, at least not right away.

I don’t plan on using Beat and Note much, but I would like to do some stuff with them later, but the trouble with that is that I have to write two characters who are pretty thin on personality.    That’s not a knock on the games, the whole idea is to have fairly flat protagonists so the player can “inhabit” them better.    All I really know about Beat is that he’s a natural at playing SDBH, and he’s a big fan of Trunks’ alter ego, Great Saiyaman 3.   And all I know about Note is that she’s apparently not descended from Saiyans, and she addresses Trunks as “Master”.    I think there might be an implied romantic connection between them, but they look pretty young in the game and the DB Wiki doesn’t seem to know for sure, so I’m betting that’s just fans reading into things.   My big idea for them was to use older versions of the characters, maybe 17 instead of 14, or whatever, and that way they can be a little different from the official versions of the characters because a few years have passed for them.

The main reason I’m going over all this, though, is that I’m not sure if or when I’ll have a chance to circle back to any of this, and some of these details may never make it into the fic at all, so I wanted to make a note of it.

Once more about my oc’s

Alrighty, I’ve got two more oc’s, this time in a fantasy setting. Already wrote this post once, but Tumblr swallowed it whole so here it is again. So, my two sweethearts are in a relationship, but I would like to write about it’s development. It’s on the theme of ‘x times they almost kissed and the one time that they did’ but instead it’s ‘twelve times he left and the one he stayed’. So, here’s the deal: you choose what I’m going to write. I’ll give you options and if you’re interested just DM me or reblog this post with your thing. If you don’t want to do either of those reply to this post, but please mention me so I find it (I reblog a lot of stuff so it’s hard to find my posts). Here’s your summary from which you can choose what you’d like to hear more about:

Characters: Julian Adrest - thief, outlaw, murderer, he has a death sentence in five of the seven provinces of Gerazia, part time pirate, caring, careful, loud, very open about his feelings, funny, self-absorbed, very self consious(don’t ask me how he does it, he wants to punish himself for every little mistake yet likes to think that he makes no mistakes) + Tenzin Stale - a magician (they prefer the term witch), misterious, calm, quiet, prefer to be alone(yet they love Julian’s company), caring, sweet, protective, they can and will beat your ass if you try to hurt them or anyone inoccent, they are a top

Setting: Gerazia (I wouldn’t recommend asking me to write more about this unless you want to read a post about a fictional world that is infused with my outlook on the real world and like five pages in ms word about it’s political situation)

Story: 

First meeting - in a city, marketplace, autumn, Tenzin is in trouble, Julian saves them

Second meeting - mountains, winter, Julian has some debts, Tenzin rescues him, tavern, they learn each other’s names

Third meeting - sea, a ship, summer, Julian attacks a ship with a group of pirates, finds out Tenzin is on board, saves them, they talk

Fourth meeting - another city, still summer, Tenzin saves Julian from a guard who recognized him, they laugh about it over a drink

Fifth meeting - a lot of places, autumn to winter, Tenzin needs someone to go with them on a journey to look for a few magical artifacts and books, goes to a nearby city, finds Julian there and asks him, he agrees, they spend few months together

Sixth meeting - tavern near a sea, spring, Julian gets drunk and Tenzin meets him, needs to take care of him so that he isn’t caught (drunk flirting 😉)

Seventh meeting - the forest, end of winter, they haven’t seen each other for almost the whole year, they get kinda scared and anxious and it just grows every day, they set out to find each other, they meet, go into Tenzin’s hut in a forest, they kiss and sleep together, Julian leaves in the morning without saying goodbye (because he’s an idiot)

Eight meeting - a city, spring, Tenzin breaks Julian out of jail, they spend a few days together in a different city, but after another night spent together Julian leaves once more

Ninth meeting - summer, they both go on an adventure to a beautiful cave, Julian because he’s broke, Tenzin because he needs some sort of ingredient for a needed medication, they meet and, charmed by the beauty of the cave, they have a little romance, Julian once again leaves and Tenzin is more and more dissapointed

Tenth meeting - end of summer, begining of autumn, Tenzin is picking some soon-autumn herbs for their brew and Julian finds them there because he came to his old friend for some herbs against sea sickness (since he gets it even after all the years he spent on sea), they talk for a while, drink some hot tea in Julian’s friend’s hut, eat pie, kiss a few, Julian needs to leave onto the sea

Eleventh meeting - autumn, they once more meet on sea, Tenzin needs a lift and Julian and his friends are just docked in the exact port, they give Tenzin a lift, Julian and them sleep together quite a few times, Tenzin is almost certain that he’s gonna stay this time, but when they try to ask him about it he chickens out and leaves, breaking Tenzin’s heart for good

Twelfth meeting - they meet in a port tavern, Julian tries to talk to them and crack a few jokes, but they just return pleasantries and forced-looking smiles, maybe some small talk and when they say that they have to go, he tries to stop them or ask whether he could go with them, but they just let him escort them to the port where they give him one last kiss, a dance and they leave on an early/late boat which dissappears into the mist

And the one he stayed - winter, spring, summer, autumn, winter, spring; Tenzin was absolutely heartbroken when Julian left them the last time, so they hide. They don’t want to be found and set out a lot of charms around them. Julian thinks nothing about it, but he was kinda unsettled when he saw them leave. After a few moths he realizes he misses them, but  he doesn’t look for them yet. After like, two more months of not meeting them anywhere, he gets really worried and spends the rest of the time looking for them. But they don’t want to be found and even when they see him, they make sure that they aren’t seen. One night they see Julian in the city somowhere and they leave and go to the forest where their hut is, but they get attacked and badly injured. Julian feels something tugging at him and so he goes to the forest and sees them on the forest floor, bleeding. He takes them to their hut and cares for the wound, when they wake up, angst insues. BUT I SWEAR IT HAS A HAPPY ENDING, THEY GET TOGETHER I SWEAR!

So, again, you’re the ones that pick which of these I’ll be writing. I know I’ll totaly be doing the last one, but if you want to read one or multiple of the others or you find the characters interesting and want me to write them in a specific situation, I’ll do that as well. Just no smut. Not here. Ask for some dbh smut.
