my therapist & the nurse that sits in on all my sessions are not believing me when I tell them I have adhd. the therapist uses his 'previous experience' of kids with adhd to invalidate me & the nurse is severely anti-self-dx despite the fact that I was right about having a personality disorder (was just diagnosed). I won't be seeing them again for much longer but do you know of any way I could identify promising therapists/doctors who aren't ableist and will actually help diagnose my adhd & spd?

try finding someone who specializes in ADHD (in my experience, they are good at dealing with sensory issues, too)! it can be quite tricky, especially if you’re an adult, but it’s so worth it. unfortunately, most psychologists/psychiatrists lack the full and accurate knowledge of the disorder, so very clear symptoms of ADHD are overlooked and linked to other disorders. so trying to find someone who knows a lot about the condition is so, so important and can make all the difference. good luck!!

I’m pretty sure you’re joking, but like... dog walking/pet sitting is my job, I don’t go to people’s houses to “hang out” with their pets or make friends, I go to take care of the animals and make money. I work really hard for my job, I walk for eight hours a day (on concrete, I’ve already started developing a swollen ligament in one foot) with little to no time to eat or even take breaks. Besides, I’ve only met the owner and the dog in question once for like 15 minutes, I’m not going to someone’s house that I barely know to demand to spend time with their dog, that’s just weird and unprofessional :/

well, he did refer to her “silvery” color - i think he didn’t use the exact wording only because malcolm probably has no idea what a snow leopard is, and the whole thing is told via his point of view. i doubt it’s because pullman forgot what her form is or anything like that
