Theodor von Holst (1810 - 1844), The Wish, 1840, oil on canvas, Yale Center for British Art (source).
Groupie Fact: It is widely believed that von Holst modeled the woman in this painting after the 20-year-old Amelia Thomasina Symmes-Villard, his then fiancé and favorite model. Symmes-Villard was a sort of femme-fatale and allegedly carried around a small knife within her bodice. Fellow artist William Bell Scott once suggested that if von Holst’s alcoholism did not kill him, Symmes-Villard probably would have done it herself (source).

I’ve been binge watching this show called deadly women on Hulu and omg these women are crazy!!! 🙃 some of these women procreated and killed their children. Some killed their husbands for insurance money. Others killed family members because they were banned from seeing a guy they liked. They also killed other women they envied. Most of them get caught because they bring other people into their murders and get sloppy then they are the worst liars when being investigated. These women are dumb. But this show is my guilty pleasure 😅
For a few brief, glorious months; I got to live my dream and work at a podcast studio. While I was there, I pitched and even recorded a few episodes of a true crime podcast hosted, written, and researched by me. I left that job recently and my run as a true crime podcaster seemed to disappear with the financial stability of the studio I once worked for; but writing true crime on a regular basis…
Man, it's so weird watching an episode of Deadly Women and realizing "oh shit, I know the people in this case". I know more about what happened after the case ended and it's completely tragic, even after justice was served.
My TV to throw on the background is Deadly Women. I'm on the episode about Jasmine Richardson and the actress they hired to play her looks so much younger than the actual person.
