Returning home can be cathartic, stressful, or even both at the same time. Whether literally or metaphorically doing so, it sometimes feels like you're going right back to where you started, but you're not. You haven't lost the things you gained along the way, you haven't lost your connections to others outside of home, and you haven't failed. For as much as some things stay the same, other things change.

Going back to the beginning isn't a failure.

failure. i usually feel drawn to this deck (earthbound oracle) when i am kind of seeking comfort. i have actually never, in literally years of owning this deck, pulled this card until now. i was surprised it was even in there since it is.... less than comforting. i seriously considered putting it back and trying again for this post but i don't want to sugar coat the truth to anyone! so... that doesn't look great and may more or less speak for itself. one possible bright spot, though, is that it can also represent a failure of an enemy against you. a failure of a would-be dictator to harm his people, for example? one can hope.

Relationship Combo-Spread

Happy Valentine's Day to all you lovely souls out there!

Here's a Spread I made using a combination of Tarot, Runes and Oracle cards!

My daughter is the Love of my life, so this spread looks in to the relationship I have with her.

The Tarot cards look at who I am to my daughter, who she is to me, and what kind of relationship we have.

The Runes describe our hopes, desires and dreams.

The Oracle card looks at our Relationship as a whole and what we have to be grateful for.

Tarot:

Me: Queen of Pentacles - I am my daughter's safety net; I provide a warm home-base for her where she is nurtured (body & soul) and she can thrive. I make sure she has a comfortable home where she is fed, clothed, gets enough sleep, her talents are encouraged and developed and she knows she is loved unconditionally.

Maya: Queen of Cups - My daughter is 4, and everything is felt deeply on an emotional level - she teaches me to be mindful of how things FEEL rather than how practical they are. Seeing the world through her eyes is a joy, I can see how kindness, comfort and love are the most important qualities to nurture.

Relationship: 2 of Cups - We have a warm, supportive relationship where honesty and reliability matter. We are secure in the knowledge that we love each other, no matter what. We treat eachother with respect and kindness.

Runes:

Me: GEBO - Balance, Partnership, Gifts - My biggest hope is that I can continue to provide a stable home for Maya where she knows she is loved. It is hard sometimes as a single mum and Maya struggles with her dad's abcense but I think she knows we are a team and together we can conquer all. She is the biggest Gift in my life and I will always cherish her.

Maya: WUNJO- Joy, Comfort, Pleasure - My daughter is a veritable well of emotions, being 4 means that Reason and Practicality are much lower on her list of priorities than how she Feels about things. As long as she can laugh, feel good and is enjoying her day, she is happy. Of course there are times when she feels sad, angry, upset or unwell but as long as I remember to listen to her emotions and validate them rather than shaming her for tears or tantrums, we can get through it all.

Relationship: LEGUZ - Renewal, Birth, Motherhood - Before I had Maya I thought I knew how Mothers felt about their children. I was wrong. I was not prepared for how deep this Love runs. It still catches me by surprise at times! Becoming a Mother was certainly the beginning of a new life for me, a Rebirth if you like - I was no longer just Tania, now I am Mama as well. Motherhood has it's ups and downs, it's trials and tribulations, but I am forever changed since giving Birth to my daughter and I hope to never lose sight of the Wonder of her 💖

Oracle:

Relationship: Abundance - We have a lot to be thankful for in our relationship. We may not be rich, financially speaking, but we have more than enough. We have a warm, comfortable flat, a large loving family to support us, enough food and clothes, and little luxuries such as toys, books and ice-cream to share. There is an abundance of Love in our home and we are not shy about it! Hugs, cuddles, kisses and words of comfort and encouragement are shared freely. It is important for me not to lose sight of these Blessings, as I often feel like I should do better as a Mum and question wether I am enough...

So I used to do this every Sunday. I had an elaborate tarot spread for the whole month and a smaller one for the week. Now all I do is ask my tarot or oracle deck “Whats the energy for next week?” And shuffle untill I have a fall out. Sometimes it’s two but often times it’s just one.

Sinaverr, it/xe. I'd like the Earthbound Oracle if that's alright.

QUESTION: What message do I need to hear that I'm missing?

BACKGROUND: I try to be pretty vigilant on catching messages from my main spirit guide (Molag Bal, albeit a non-canon iteration of Him), but sometimes things slip through the cracks. There's not much context going on in my life I cam think of to add, but I'll do my best.

I'm trying my best to aid my system with a problem involving outsiders of the system, but the problem just plain isn't resolving at all. I know Molagh has a lot of opinions on it and advice, but I've heard most of what I think I'm going to get from Him on that.

Outside of that though, life is good. I'm surrounded by partners and QPPs and friends, and I am well supported by others. I'm not the only one in charge of resolving that problem.

So... basically. Is there any message about this I'm missing? I don't expect the message to come exclusively from Molag Bal, either, so whatever comes, comes.

A serpentine lock with a feather as a key. A bird tending to its nest upon the back of a tortoise. The feather serves to connect the two to each other.

In protecting the home, there's something you can unlock, some information you're missing, that helps illuminate things. Perhaps you've already unlocked it, since the padlock is open. Perhaps you're building on the foundations of something older and sturdier than you. Perhaps that's where you should turn.

Regardless, this reading also seems like it's telling you that you're going a good job thus far in taking care of your system through this problem. Keep on keepin' on.

1 - Bat

The bat talks about the inevitable end of a cycle, rebirth, and letting go of past issues. Right away this tells me that you are someone who is constantly changing and evolving, but you may have difficulty letting go of situations or people that haven’t done the work to grow with you. Bats are also very misunderstood animals, so people probably never see the real you, just the facade you want them to see.

2 - Turtle

Since you were drawn to the turtle, I’m already assuming you’re a fairly grounded individual. As well as, that you are someone with strong ties to your family and ancestors (if you do ancestor work). You are probably very wise and have a natural story-teller.

Yeah, I was right, you are very grounded, even if you don’t see yourself that way. If you were to take a step back and compare yourself to those around you, you’d probably find that you’re the only one who sees things how they really are. You’re also naturally able to keep calm in a crisis, while everyone else is panicking you’re formulating a plan on how to fix it and bring things back down to a reasonable level. Now that might not sound like a spiritual gift, but I assure you it is. There’s a reason why so many people have strong a strong focus on meditation and grounding techniques as a part of their spiritual practices. That’s a step you don’t have to take or don’t have to take very often, so if you were to delve deeper into your spirituality you’d have a slight advantage and be able to progress a little bit more quickly than some of your peers. I also pick up on a dreamy quality to you, like you can have your head up in the clouds but are still able to have your feet firmly planted on the ground. It’s very interesting to see that balance/duality.

Moving on to something that’s a little more obvious as a gift, you have an innate ability to see the shadows in people and bring them to light. There are people who definitely don’t appreciate it, some just don’t want to recognize or deal with their “dark side”. Shadows aren’t necessarily “dark” or “bad”, just the aspects of ourselves we repress and don’t want anyone to see. I feel like you’re able to just look at a person and see everything that they are, you might not even have to talk to or engage with them in any way.

Also, I mentioned ancestor work earlier, if you don’t do that or aren’t connected to your culture, I encourage you to do some research. It might be something very beneficial to you.

As nice as that sounds, above all you need to be mindful of your own well-being and how much energy you put towards the betterment of others. Even the well-meaning ones will take as much as you're willing to give, so having and asserting boundaries is a highly important thing for you to do. And remember, you don’t have to give any of your energy to anyone if you don’t want to, it’s yours to do what you want with.

The fish talks about feeling restless and unfocused. Are you someone who’s constantly on the move? Why is this? It’s okay to slow down and take a break sometimes. The world’s not going to implode because you took a nap. Alternatively, are you feeling pinned down and that’s what’s resulting in this restless feeling?

So, out of the gate, all of your tarot cards are reversed with the exceptions of the Devil, 3 of Wands and 10 of Cups. Which indicates to me that there’s something relating to your family and work (specifically I’m hearing “family business”, but that won’t apply to everybody) that are cutting you off from your gifts altogether.

This reading doesn’t seem to reveal what your gifts are, but rather it’s relaying the message that before anything else you need to find balance and peace within yourself. You need to free yourself from whatever situation or mindset in your life that is all consuming. It’s burning you out and keeping you having the time to get to know yourself. Which in turn will hinder any spiritual growth you’re hoping to achieve.

The Earthbound Oracle

Hey everyone, I thought I would give you all a look at the Earthbound Oracle, a small oracle deck by A.L. Swartz (skullgarden.net) – also the creator of the Wooden Tarot.

This pocket size 48 card deck is printed on thin, flexible cardstock and very portable! It comes in a simple tuckbox that might need some extra protection if you’re going to have it bouncing around in your handbag.

It is not the most luxurious deck, it even comes with a grammatical error printed on the back of the box (!) – but it is SO appealing and useable, I really wanted to make people aware of it.

I have a personal fascination with Pommegranates haha – I once tried some meditation exercises to get to know my Spirit Animal, but at the end of every inward journey, what I found was a Pommegranate! So, there you have it, Pommegranates are my Spirit Animal!!

So when I noticed this little beauty, I decided I just had to have this little deck. And I am glad I bought it!

It is meant to be used intuitively, so does not come with a guidebook, but the images and titles are so clear that this really is not a problem. Have a look!
