I first realized that the best ghost stories are love stories after watching The Haunting of Bly Manor, and though I've experienced a lot of media since that reaffirmed that understanding, The Narrow by Kate Alice Marshall really feels like it's closing the loop. It rhymes with Bly in a way that feels like I've come to the end of some great journey, and am now prepared to start another. Like Bly, The Narrow is a story about abuse. It's a story about possession, in more than one sense. And it's a story that asserts that true love, the love that's worth keeping, is the love that knows how to let go.
Our story follows Eden, a senior at a prestigious private boarding high school rich with history and legends, especially around its deadly river, The Narrow, which is unapologetically based on the Bolton Strid. Eden is excited to return to school and escape a summer vacation marred by a profound abuse that she is refusing to think about. However, upon arrival she discovers that her parents have neglected to pay her tuition - coincidentally, they've had to pay a lot of legal fees recently - and she is forced to take on a unique arrangement to remain enrolled. She must act as the live-in companion of fellow student Delphine, a reclusive girl who cannot leave her carefully refurbished dorm room, as any contact with water sends her into seizures. Eden knows something about Delphine that almost no one else does, however - at the beginning of her first year, Eden saw Delphine fall into The Narrow and be swept away - and what The Narrow takes is never returned.
The mystery at the heart of the story is, ultimately, not that complicated, but it is beautiful in its simplicity and the way it plays with the reader's expectations. Those expectations are shaped heavily by Eden's point of view, and Eden is a triumph of an unreliable narrator. She actively avoids thinking about things that weigh on her and occasionally skates over her own actions where they clash with her self-image, but these more obvious and dramatic omissions draw attention away from the subtler ways that her biases and coping mechanisms shape her understanding of the world around her, and it took me until about the three-quarters mark to know where and how to disbelieve her perceptions. She is incredibly compelling, deeply empathetic, and absolutely drowning in self-worth issues. The supporting cast is equally compelling, and the author injects a surprising sense of depth into each member of her friend group in remarkably few lines. Each give the impression of being flawed, well-rounded, but fundamentally decent people, and they all feel very distinct from one another. I was going to highlight one of them as a favorite example, but I genuinely can't pick between them. The adults too are well-rounded and compelling, which I feel is often a shortcoming of horror in an academic setting (is that what dark academia is? no one will tell me). And of course Delphine herself is quite compelling; a little odd, very intense, and eminently sympathetic, her dynamic with Eden is fresh, engaging, and believable.
One thing I really want to highlight about this story is its willingness to engage with real-life messiness that is often elided in ghost stories and love stories. The mechanics of the supernatural are not well understood in this story, and no tomes of ancient lore exist to guide the protagonists. Their methods of interfacing with the supernatural are cobbled together from their own intuition and their vague impressions of the occult from pop culture and religious mysticism, and their efficacy is neither reliable nor consistent. Similarly, the story is not afraid of engaging with the fragility and volatility of young love, the way it can feel all-consuming and eternal in one moment and fizzle out the next. This sort of messiness always appeals to me in fiction, and it is remarkably rare outside of deliberate genre subversions, so I was absolutely thrilled with it here.
I would recommend The Narrow without hesitation to anyone who likes ghost stories. I would also recommend it for its exploration of abuse in a variety of forms, and for its depiction of the aftermath of said abuse. Take that same recommendation as a content warning, though, and I'll toss in a more specific one for involuntary drug use.

storytelling asks: 5, 26, and 32 👀
Eep! Thank you Nonny! 💐
5. How do you choose your characters’ names?
This is probably boring as hell, but mostly by looking at the top names by country in the year that character was born (especially for the early decades/English Darlingtons). Things get a little more specific starting in the 20s, because we have characters whose names are more specifically tied to cultural groups or places. So Antoine’s name is a nod to the oldest restaurant in New Orleans, while Delphine’s (as well as their last name) is specifically pulled from newspaper clippings of the names of Creoles of Color in this era New Orleans. Similarly, Valcita’s name was taken from a Navajo artist online, and Gio’s last name from tombs of early Italian families in New Orleans.
But all and all, as I’m sure yall noticed, I like picking names I can shorten so I’m not constantly repeating the same thing over and over again in text (Rosella, Georgiana, Josephine, Giorgio, Valcita, Violette, anyone?) 🤣
26. Have other sim stories inspired you?
Omg, yes!! The only reason I’m out here at all is because of other’s simmer’s stories. Especially when I got started I wouldn’t be posting right now without being inspired by stories like @pixelnrd, @sinclairesimblr , @allfrogsmatter , and @sims-through-the-decades (and so many more, let’s be real). As I go deeper and deeper down the storytelling rabbit hole I’m also really inspired by my modern simmer babes like @cinamun and @rebouks and how wonderfully thought out their characters and approach to interpersonal relationships are.
(Also sorry for the tags huns I just wanted yall to see that yall are treasured ❤️)
32. Give a light spoiler.
Someone will be rich before the end of the decade. Not all of them, maybe some of them, or maybe only one. But someone will be 😈
Got more storytelling asks?

You reblogged a post about the practical female armors mod for skyrim and now i am being sucked back into the pit of skyrim modding. any mod suggestions? its been a solid couple years since i played and there's a LOT to choose from
Oh man I haven't had a chance to play since my computer broke lemme see what my last modlist was.
(One moment while I force my broken computer to work)
So fair warning, I like survival aspects. I like it when games require me to eat/sleep/do things to live, because then the 15 cheese wheels in my inventory actually mean something besides instant health. I also really like companionship and roleplaying elements, so most of my playthroughs are built around that.
Dependencies not included:
Campfire: Camping mechanics. Supports a party of 4, if I remember correctly. Also lets you craft a few things, but I'm more interested in stargazing with my buddies.
Vitality Mode: Current iteration of "better than Survival Mode" mechanics. Eat/drink/sleep/etc. Does it very nicely with a corner icon that gets more red the worse off you are, rather than whatever SM had going on. Also lets you configure modded food items for it just by eating them!
Pronouns: Pick what pronouns you go by regardless of default body. Will attempt to exclude gendered language if possible (like, it's unavoidable with Brynjolf calling you lad/lass, but you can pick which one it falls back to) if you pick they/them. You can set percentages of different pronoun sets or even have it change randomly on a timer.
Quality World Map: PUTS. THE ROADS. ON. THE MAP. If you're doing no fast travel, this is VITAL. Base map is terrible, next question.
Delphine's Map Reveals Dragon Mounds: Because it should.
Delay the Foresworn Conspiracy Quest: Ever get sick of being roped into that quest immediately? (Makes it so that guy doesn't hand you the note unless you talk to him directly. Main Street Stabbing™ is still there)
Dragonborn Delayed: Ever get sick of being roped into THAT quest immediately? (Especially given the suggested level of Solstheim...you can pick when it happens: after returning the horn, Delphine, Alduin's Wall, meeting Paarthurnax, getting the Elder Scroll, kicking Alduin's tail at the top of the mountain, or killing Alduin)
Extended Encounters: More encounters in the wild! Mercs, adventurers, vampire attacks, etc.
Vittoria's Alternate Wedding: She can get married without you killing her! She's not in engagement hell!!! Only triggers if you destroy the Dark Brotherhood.
Immersive Realistic Party Clothing Overhaul: Wear any "rich" clothes to the party instead of what Delphine gives you. I usually use this with mods that add more fancy clothes.
More To Say: Everyone talks more about a wider variety of things. Lets you tell Meeko he's a good boy and give him a treat. Makes a few new lines with splicing, but I haven't noticed any hard cuts.
Wonders of Weather: Splashy rain and rainbows, occasional shooting stars, scheduled meteor showers
Darker Nights: What it says on the tin. I like using torches and fires, and regular nighttime is unrealistically bright for me.
Whiterun Watchtower Doesn't Start Broken: Because why should it?
Cooking Inns and Taverns: Because I need more cooking pots and ESPECIALLY Hearthfire ovens to find.
C.O.I.N.: Adds immersion by changing coins based on where you are. Ancient Nordic coins are going to be worth less than the standard Septim, while Thalmor gold is worth more. There are Dwemer coins.
More Thalmor Dossiers: Makes more lore books on characters to pick up when you're in the embassy. Also has patches for some followers. Very fun.
Bandolier: More carry weight and it looks cool.
Guard Dialogue Overhaul: Gives guards more to say, and changes their opinions of you as you complete quests.
Bandit Lines Expansion: Bandits talk more, 500+ new lines. Spliced, but it sounded smooth to me.
Alternate Start: If you're sick of the standard Helgen entry, THIS. Also the New Beginnings add-on gives even more options.
No Fast Travel: Honestly this is just a me thing, because I use Vitality Mode and want realism. Only go for this if you're like me and it won't frustrate you.
Followers (aka, my party pre-BG3)
Gore by @goredev: A young Imperial mercenary from Cyrodiil, was ambushed by Thalmor because of some traitorous members of his band. Absolute sweetheart, riveting story, fantastic found family vibes all around. 10/10 would kill for him. Updates often, so check the mod page every now and then after install.
Inigo: An indigo Khajiit who put himself in prison because he thinks he killed you. Amazing banter, very cheeky, comes with his own whistle-signal mechanics. You can buy him a horse if you have the right patch! (He interacts with Lucien right out the gate and has a banter patch with Auri)
Lucien Flavius: An Imperial scholar from Cyrodiil with a myriad of unique mechanics, letting you teach him your own skills in order to customize his battle style. He's in Skyrim looking for a (custom made, well-implemented) Dwemer dungeon. The lad has a MILLION compatibility patches that let him comment on all sorts of mods. (Interacts with Auri right out the gate)
Auri by @sotgofficial: A Bosmer from Valenwood who's having a lot of culture shock in Skyrim (where she's from, canonically, her people are cannibals and don't harm plants—she HATES Faendal with a seething passion). A fantastic character (and archer), a heartwrenching story, openly poly and likes to tease. Will be a little annoyed/depressed until you do her personal quest, so I recommend chipping away at that as you travel. I usually use her with the Refined Auri replacer.
Taliesin by @dynamite124, voiced by @nevermorepjm: My personal favorite, an Altmer and former Thalmor agent you help after he's been mortally wounded. Lots of sassy and witty dialogue, bursting with personality, changes his opinion of you over the course of the main quest. Please I'm begging you watch his trailer.
Khash by @rabbittwinrithings: Darling little Argonian teenager you can take along with you. Doesn't get sarcasm, speaks her mind often, can be coaxed into talking about her past—that's not a typical Argonian name, is it? Resident gremlin alongside Auri.
Back to normal stuff, visuals
Tempered Skins for Males/Females: Gives a decent look without airbrushing everyone because I am SO sick of airbrushing everyone... There are dicks in the setup screen (when you set whether you want them or not), beware.
Improved Eyes: Just a little tweak.
Brows: Another little tweak.
Subliminal Traps: Makes traps less obvious. It's masochistic, yes, but I like my immersion.
Awesome Potions Simplified: You look at these and tell me they aren't the coolest looking potion bottles you've ever seen.

Greetings!! Just posting a fanfic I wrote for my homework :33 (Yes, it is Lennabel) this is also posted on ao3 and wattpad!
——————————–-`♡´-–——————————
A Clandestine Night
In the heart of town, a wealthy man threw a lavish ball, inviting only his closest friends. The event hums with excitement as guests anticipate a night of luxury and camaraderie.
Annabel Lee Whitlock, an undercover spy seeking the rich man's wealth, disguised as one of the man's guests. As for her disguise, she posed as Arabella Delphine, one of the plush man's trusted friends. For her plan to work out, she must not be seen by the host otherwise she would be caught with no way out.
To fit in with the guests, she wore a Midnight Blue bust down strapless evening dress with a black shawl around her upper arms, she had black long satin gloves.
There she arrived at the party right on time, the greeter at the entrance checked her name on the guest list. She was let in effortlessly, she smiled at this—this was gonna be easier than she thought. She walked among the crowds, the giggles and laugh of the other guests rang in her ears yet this didn't distract her, she continued on with her mission of finding the host’s vault.
She was wandering around trying to find a way to sneak into the vault when suddenly she stumbled upon a… woman with a suit? “How unusual…” she dusted off her dress, staring into the woman right in front of her.
“Greetings, I apologize for bumping into you.” she hurriedly spoke, worried.
“It's fine, really. What's your name dear?” Annabel smiled, tucking a strand of her curled hair behind her ear.
“My name's Lenore, Lenore Vandernacht. Pleasure to meet you.” Lenore smiled back, kissing the back of Annabel's hand.
She introduced herself. “I'm Arabella Delphine.” She continued on her disguise, not letting that kiss on the hand expose her.
“Ah! You're one of the host’s friends, yes?”
“Indeed, are you not one of his friends?”
“... I am, yes! I just thought you were one of the staff.”
“A staff?.. wearing a dress?”
"Oh! Well, can the staff not wear formal dress wear in a party as well?” Lenore smiled innocently, a hint of an annoyed tone hidden behind her voice.
Annabel glared “Hm, I suppose.” She uttered in defeat.
The two stood there awkwardly, waiting for the other to speak. It was only a few seconds but time seemed to drag on endlessly, Annabel just wanted to leave and continue to her mission but the other woman spoke.
“What brings you to the party?”
“Well I was invited, of course I would attend it. I never miss a party.”
“Ah, a partygoer. What's your work?”
“Oh, my dad owns a company. It's called ‘AD’ he's planning to make me CEO.”
“I've heard of that company before, are you the daughter of Ambrose Delphine?”
“Indeed, I must leave. I'm meeting up with a friend.”
“I understand, apologies for disturbing you.”
“It's quite alright, it was a pleasure talking to you. Ta-ta!” With that, Annabel quickly left.
Lenore, with a gleam of mischief dancing in her eyes and a playful smirk curling her lips, watched intently, her gaze fixed upon the target. With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, she transmitted her observation through the concealed earpiece, her voice laced with amusement as she confirmed, "Yeah, I got her in sight.”
At the same time, Annabel finally found the vault. Thoughts of getting richer crossed her mind, but she reminded herself to focus on the task at hand. There she twisted the lock instantly opening it, she smiled at the sight of glowing gold before her. Before stepping in, she stopped. She thought for a moment, “This is way too easy,” a hint of suspicion lingered in her voice, she continued “There must be a catch.” she observed inside the vault, trying to find anything unusual or suspicious. When she found none, she took a deep breath before stepping in. No alarms were set up, she let out a sigh of relief. She took out a bag and started with the money first.
After that, she moved on to the gold but she was stopped. She heard a familiar voice behind her speak, her heart dropped to her stomach.
“Well, well, well.. Hello ‘Arabella’.”
Annabel turned around facing the woman she talked to earlier, Lenore. “What are you doing here?”
“Oh, I was worried that you wouldn't find your way to your little friend.” Lenore spoke sarcastically. “Tch, I knew you were aiming for the vault. I knew you from the start Annabel Lee Whitlock.”
A drop of sweat fell from Annabel's face as she glared at the woman in front of her. She could feel the tension in the air thickening with each passing moment. “What do you want, Lenore?”
Lenore just smirked playfully, walking closer to the Spy. She whispered in her ear, “Put those back Annabel Lee.”
Therefore Annabel lunged at Lenore, pinning her to the ground. Afterwards Lenore punched her in the face, leaving a bruise. Annabel groaned and stood up, a death glare could be seen. Lenore pinned her against the wall, leaving almost no space between them.
Annabel kicked her in the stomach and ran with money and some gold in her bag. Lenore stumbled and fell on the floor, landing on her butt. She quickly stood up and ran after Annabel, but it was too late, Annabel was already near the exit and Lenore would never reach her. However she kept running after her.
Annabel took off her heels and ran even faster. She got into her getaway car, and the driver drove off, leaving Lenore behind. She stood there, fuming that she hadn't caught the criminal. With a sigh, she informed her boss that she hadn't succeeded in apprehending the criminal. With that, she returned to the party.
During that time, Annabel began to breathe heavily once she got in the car. Exhausted from the running, she glanced at the driver, who wore a puzzled expression.
“Prospero, I- *pant* I didn't get all of it. But I got some!”
Prospero, the driver spoke with a satisfied tone. “Well done, Annabel.”

Delphine (new RO)
Age: about 571 in human years (but she looks about 28)
She has a deeper voice, closest to Miley Cyrus' pitch. She has a slight southern accent.
Height: 6'1 and she loves wearing gogo boots or high heels so she always pushing 6'3 or taller.
She's from the planet Cypress Velo. Delphine is a succubus alien that can use a glamor to hide her appearance from humans (and take the form of who they desire the most, like Aphrodite. However, this costs her a lot of energy, so she usually uses her own good looks and charm instead)
Delphine works as a bartender and dancer at some of the seedier nightclubs both before and after the invasion (because you know those kinds of establishments will never fall... NEVER!)
Delphine grew up rich. Like, has a private jet type of rich. She has no uses for such human measures of wealth, though. She prefers to be around fun, genuine people (and food...)
Tumblr media
She's just a very beautiful woman and I need her in a way that is detrimental to the human race's existence.
I'll put out more information about her as I develop her more as a RO!
All my love,
Cheye

why has no one asked about Ylrith yet??? please tell us more about Ylrith
:3c
In all fairness, I don’t post about her that much. Mostly because I’m not currently working on any stories that directly involve her so she’s not in my brain as much. I LOVE her, I’m just more focused on the characters I work with more often lol
But basically: poly lesbian mob boss with a snake obsession
Tumblr media
She’s the head honcho of a centuries-old crime syndicate called The Gray Order. Ylrith (il-rith) herself usually goes by “The Gray Matron”, but her enemies have given her a plethora of other, similarly sinister names. By now, the Order has connections all across Azeroth, in most any faction worth a damn. The opening up of Kalimdor to the rest of the world was one of the best things to happen to her.
The Order specializes in smuggling drugs, weapons, and other illicit items, but Ylrith will ferry war refugees to safer lands too, and other such things. All she wants is money and more people under her thumb — if you have the money, or are willing to do a favor for her, she’ll help you do what it is you want done. Her trademark phrase isn’t “A favor for a favor, darling” for nothing. Of course, she’s a master of wordcraft, and often gets people to promise more than they think. She’s also got informants everywhere — brothels in the big cities, innkeepers, compromised city guards, and so on — and thus is master of blackmail. You go to her to discuss a deal, you say something she doesn’t like, and she’ll drop a detail about your life you thought no one else knew.
She also has an EXTENSIVE snake collection of species from all over Azeroth and even beyond. If we’re being realistic a lot of the money she makes goes into caring for them lmao she just really loves snakes <3 In fact I was leaning so hard into the snake thing I decided to just say she’s (the elf equivalent of) autistic because no neurotypical person could possibly be that into snakes KSBXBJD Which makes her my second autistic night elf, the first being Cathala 💜 Yet another win for lesbians.
The third key thing about her is the upper crust of the Order are all in a sapphic polycule. They use their powers of polyamory for evil (affectionate). Ylrith is also kind of(?) a “lesbian femme fatale type”. One of her favorite activities is fucking with the royalty of patriarchal cultures like humans by seducing the wives of powerful men and then helping them kill their husbands, the end result being Ylrith now has control over that piece of land at best, and that rich woman’s loyalty at worst. It’s enrichment for her.
Now for more art. This first one is her and her spymaster/favorite assassin/girlfriend Delphine Kaltel, a.k.a. The Serpent’s Fang. Originally Delphine had actually been hired to kill Ylrith but it was an enemies-to-lovers thing <3
Tumblr media
This one’s her and her blue dragon girlfriend Tyalagosa, who’s sort of her “court” mage, I suppose:
Tumblr media
(She has more gfs/people in the Order’s upper crust, those are just the only two I’ve named, designed, and drawn. One I have yet to draw is Evelyn Torvannas, another Nightborne. She’s the head of a fairly powerful merchant family in Suramar.]
One showing off her other tattoo:
Tumblr media
And her voice claim :) (Morrigan from Dragon Age: Inquisition)
Plus this dumb meme that sums her up perfectly imo:
Tumblr media
I also like to imagine she has the stupidest most cartoonish rivalry with Shaw lmao. She doesn’t see him as a threat whatsoever and loves toying with the funny little human man, while he fucking HATES her because she’s got her tendrils all up in the Alliance but always worms her way out of repercussions. WLW and MLM hostility.

Hii 🥰
I found these picture prompts. I thought they might inspire you. You can create anything you’d like. Moodbaords, edits, or even write a story. Whatever makes you happy.
The most important thing is that you have fun (don’t feel pressured to answer right away, you can answer the ask whenever you have time or feel inspired) 🥰
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thank you so much for this ask, sweet sunshine! Here's a quick drabble -- I love it when the inspiration flows, and you just sit down to write, and a fully formed scene just happens in one hit! Thank you so much for inspiring it!! 💗🌺
(I wound up writing a piece for one of my Venandi OCs, Delphine, set before the events of SICSIG)
Tumblr media
--Chroma--
Delphine was colourblind before vampirism.
Before the hush and burn of it blazed through her cells, the world was a muddied tangle of blues and browns and yellows. She’d never really told anyone — they’d put her struggles down to the throes of nascent vampirism.
Of course she could see more. Hear more, taste more; every turning brought with it a brand new understanding of a world you thought you’d always known. It peeled back secrets from the fleshy layers of the world, let the pulp sit raw beneath a sun turned a stranger.
They didn’t know the reason the sunset sparked tears in her eyes was so much more than that.
She came to the hilltop often, these days.
She’d marvel at the sheer colour of the sky, the water. The flowers, ever these elusive things, now reached for her with brilliant, silk-soft fingertips.
Coral, magenta, fuchsia, peach. So starkly vibrant against the green of the leaves — emerald, this shade was called. Delphine thought the word with a kiss of tenderness.
This one, forest green. That one, mint.
She plucked a chocolate from the little container resting on her knees, felt the crack of it’s hard shell beneath gleaming teeth. Favour flooded her as it always did — nothing quite came close to the velvet heat of blood, these days, but chocolate came a close second. The depth of it, the richness…
It seemed every little thing in life offered up its own unique mystery. Ones she had millenia ahead of her to discover.
The evening sun kissed the bare slopes of her shoulders. She looked at the chocolate and smiled, ruby flecks of freeze-dried raspberry dotted about the pistachio praline.
Val said she’d developed a sweet tooth along with her fangs.
Delphine was just thrilled to see the difference between the two. Every bite brought joy alongside it, delight.
Every hidden hue was nothing short of a miracle.

Watching saltburn because I hear too much about it
Spoilers ahead!!! If you haven’t seen it but planning on, scroll away, cuz there are some twists that are worth experiencing first-hand. The internet made it look like it’s gonna be some trash shock movie, but it’s a really false advertisement I’d say.
Ohh, I love the beginning, it promises theatrical, level of over the top drama, just how I like
Thank god there are subtitles I can barely understand their accent
Damn, I just thought about how what I know about this movie reminds me of “Bright Young Things” and now one of the characters straight-out mentions the novelist who wrote the “Vile Bodies” (screenplay the movie Bright Young Things is based on) was basically writing about his family. Okay, so that was really spot-on impression
What’s Felix’s deal? 🤔 it looks suspiciously like love-bombing from his side what he’s doing
Damn, Oliver might be as weird as that math nerd with anger issues if not weirder. Only 20 minutes in, and our protagonist is already a creepy stalker
Oliver what the fuck, what was this sudden condescending parent mode switch with cleaning up as if just to be arrogant about it 😂
I feel like Felix might be in danger, I don’t trust Oliver anymore
Honestly I’m not even sure if Oliver is telling the truth, he might be straight out lying to gain sympathy, kinda looks like it
I really don’t understand why Felix keeps Oliver around. I don’t think he likes him that much as he is trying to show at all, and he already showed his gratitude for that bike. It’s like he needs him for something maybe?
Oh so Oliver did tell the truth
What does Felix wanttttttt I’m so confused
The complete shift of the room to instantly shower Oliver with compliments what’s up with that? Is it some rich people thing??
And instantly back to talking shit about the person who just left! Damn that really is theatrical shit
“But he spoke Russian all the time and it just sounded so romantic” lmaoooo no it did not 😭
The way they talk!! Jesus Fucking Christ, what an impressive skill of bullshitting. Absolutely no one mean what they say, that’s even impressive
Oh, MGMT!
Oh, I’ve heard something about the bath scene
Belle Delphine bath water, is that it? Is that the level of gross that impressed people?
The fucking mind games everybody is playing oh boy
I don’t understand what’s going on anymore
Is Oliver just trying to prove he’s not gay?
Oh the fucking song pick oh my god this is painful to watch and I don’t even like Oliver
I’ll have to watch some explanation after this movie, it’s so confusing, what happened
Oh, will it turn out that he lied about everything?
SO I WAS RIGHT ABOUT SUSPECTING IT
Oh my god
Oh my god
Fuckkkking Oliver the migraines he just keeps going Jesus Christ
Is he gonna kill Felix? I feel like someone will get killed, maybe even on accident
Wait but HOW
Was it the wine?
Is he stabbed to the ground, why can’t they move him?
The lunch scene, red curtains, wine that overflows the glass ohhh boy I love that
Oh here goes the gravefucking
Wait, I thought the movie is about to end, but there’s still quite some time on the timeline
Oh for FUCK’S SAKE this was so sudden
“Is everything alright?” God are you stupid? What kind if question is that 😭😭😭
Ohhhhhh the reveal
Ohhhh so it was the wine
Damn
I actually liked it a lot
As a movie I mean
And Oliver is such a realistic psychopath in a way he pretends to be harmless pathetic loser, oh my god, Good job

Hi!! I was wondering if you could point me in the direction of wlw romance books? Do you know of similar blogs like yours who post about them or of any authors? You reviewed the one with the pilot and the nurse, and I was really excited to see that and have been itching for more ladies lol
Yes!! We really need more sapphic books in romance; wlw is probably the least-represented type of pairing (besides... any involving trans/nb charactes in general). That's why I try to request any that I think will potentially appeal to me (I have a FFM triad fantasy romance ARC to read and review this month that apparently puts a heavy emphasis on the women, and a f/f selkie ARC for next year!).
For more reviews, you can check out the Lesbrary, though that's not ONLY romance. But yeah, that's all ladies all the time!
I would also recommend checking out romance.io. It's a great romance-exclusive reading resource, and you can filter by trope and gender pairings.
For more sapphic books, I'd recommend checking out:
The Fae Queen's Captive by Sierra Simone. This archeologist girl gets kidnapped by faeries, and she basically has to become the mysterious and cool fae queen's temporary consort. It's VERY hot, and a great one to read around Halloween. Good bit of gore, as a heads up.
The Thornchapel series by Sierra Simone. Gothic erotic romance dark academia type book about six friends who accidentally wake a dark supernatural force when they start doing these ancient sex rituals together. WHO WOULDA THUNK IT. There are orgies where everyone fucks everyone and everyone is bi, but the two main relationships are an MMF triad and a FF romance. Everyone gets POVs, and the f/f relationship is sooooo beautiful. It is BDSM, one of them is a domme and the other is her sub; it's very grumpy/sunshine, stern/sweet. Great plus size rep from one of the women. Honestly just a gorgeous love story that's super complex and compelling. TW for past sexual assault (this involves one of the women in the f/f relationship; it's not super graphic, but it is something that she needs to seek therapy for, her arc does involve recovery, and she does suffer from PTSD) and possible incest (not the f/f relationship) and general kinda dark vibes. But everyone gets an HEA in the end, especially the Rebecca and Delphine (the ladies).
An Island Princess Starts a Scandal by Adriana Herrera. Sapphic historical, Manuela ends up in Paris (the lesbian hub of the 1800s) and she wants to live her life as a gay woman before settling into a marriage with a man. So she asks Cora, this icy seductive rich widow/businesswoman, to give her an intro to gay Paris, in exchange for Manuela giving her this business thing she wants. What Cora doesn't realize initially is that Manuela is actually super committed to getting deflowered by Cora as well. It's very uptight meets wild, very swoony, very sexy.
A Long Time Dead by Samara Breger. A gothic vampire romance, it's about a sex worker who wakes up having been turned into a vampire in 1800s England, with this very worried vampire lady hovering over her. Because oops, the lady's ex turned her into a vampire as a revenge thing? So it's like, decades of these two falling in love, and tension, and a coven of queer vampires, and the ex attempting to murder people. Very romantic and hot and great.
Mortal Follies by Alexis Hall. This one is like, a Midsummer Night's Dream meets Jane Austen. It takes place in a fantastical Regency era, and one of the heroines leaves this ball because a hex has been put on her and her dress is disintegrating? Only for her to be intercepted by this dark and dangerous woman who's rumored to have killed her father? Magical, whimsical, somehow still very poignant at points?
The Fiancee Farce by Alexandria Bellefleur. A contemporary romcom wherein this bookshop owner(? employee?) pretends a romance cover model is her girlfriend to get her family off her back... Only for the model to turn out to be the heiress to a publishing empire, and in order to gain her full inheritance, OF COURSE she must marry!!! Funny, sparkly, a good time.
Generally, for authors:
Olivia Waite writes tons of f/f historical romance, Katee Robert writes some f/f erotic romance and some FFM, Sierra Simone tends to dabble in f/f and FFM more than most, Alexandria Bellefleur often writes f/f, Meryl Wilsner writes f/f contemporary, (I liked their recent Cleat Cute) Adriana Herrera writes f/f and m/f and m/m (I think) and has an erotic f/f holiday novella with a lady Santa out (Her Night with Santa). Check out the Pride not Prejudice anthology for tons of queer novellas, including an f/f alien romance by Ruby Dixon and a f/f historical by Amalie Howard!

Tes oc ask game -> Casimir 13 & 28 + Asta 23 & 35 :3c
it was just now that i realised i wrote the wrong name for cesare like a FOOL (jingles sadly)
13: Can your OC ride a mount? If so, what do they ride?
Cesare was offered horse-riding lessons from a young age but he ended up abandoning them after a few months when a horse reared at him. If anyone asks, he is NOT afraid of horses but he just doesn't trust another creature to carry him when his legs will do just fine (and carriages don't count since they aren't alive, no matter how many times you remind him that they're drawn by horses).
28: Somewhere in a town your OC has frequented, another character mentions their name in conversation. What reactions do others have to your OC’s reputation? Does your OC even have a reputation, or do they fly under the radar?
Almost certainly others react with a scoff and an eyeroll - his reputation is that of a rich, noble layabout with no direction or guiding passion. However, everyone agrees that it's better that than an ill-tempered or spoilt brat. His charm and cheer lend to people viewing him at least somewhat favourably!
23: What are your OC's opinions on vampires and werewolves? Do they belong to one of those groups? If so, what is their opinion on vampire/werewolf clans?
Asta is very much torn on them. On the one hand, they're monsters who have daedric origins and have haunted scary stories since her childhood. On the other, she's aware that they must be fascinating to research if only to parse how much of the current theories/opinions on them are true. She'd probably want to give groups or clans the benefit of the doubt - but the moment there's evidence that they're causing harm to others, she'd guard herself against them.
35: After miraculously surviving a near-death experience, your OC regains consciousness. What are the first words out of their mouth, and to whom do they speak them to?
"Mum...? Dad...?"
She gets a lot of comfort from her parents, who she's really close with despite not seeing them often due to her studies and, later, her travels. In the first few moments of confusion and limited-coherence, she'd immediately be seeking that comfort. In that same vein, her parents would move heaven and earth to do what they could for their daughter and they'd be right at her side until she woke up.
If for whatever reason she ended up in that condition while adventuring or unable to get to safety, it'd probably be Cesare , Tolfdir or Delphine who would hear those first words. All three of them feel some degree of responsibility for her, for different reasons, and would wait for her to wake up (depending on if they were with her at the time, of course).

Delphine LaLaurie
Tumblr media
LaLaurie married three times in Louisiana and was twice widowed. She was a very rich woman and though she was a widow she kept her status well in high society, until April 10, 1834.
when rescuers responded to a fire at her Royal Street mansion. They discovered bound slaves in her attic who showed evidence of cruel, violent abuse over a long period. LaLaurie's house was subsequently sacked by an outraged mob of New Orleans citizens.
Accounts of Delphine LaLaurie's treatment of her slaves between 1831 and 1834 vary. As its in the 1800s so records would be limited but a person named Harriet Martineau, wrote in 1838 and recounting tales told to her by New Orleans residents during her 1836 visit, claimed that slaves of LaLaurie were observed to be "singularly haggard and wretched" however, in public appearances LaLaurie was seen to be generally polite to Black people and solicitous of the health of those enslaved.
although the causes of death are not mentioned and infectious diseases could easily have been the cause. There were a woman named Bonnie was killed alongside her kids by the treatment of this woman.
Court records of the time showed that LaLaurie freed two slaves (Jean Louis in 1819 and Devince in 1832).
Martineau wrote that public rumors about LaLaurie's mistreatment of slaves on her property were sufficiently widespread that a local lawyer was dispatched to Royal Street to remind LaLaurie of the laws for the upkeep of slaves. During this visit, the lawyer found no evidence of wrongdoing or mistreatment of slaves by LaLaurie. (A/N: which is wtf?)
There were other tales of LaLaurie's cruelty that were current among New Orleans residents in about 1836. She said that, subsequent to the visit of the lawyer, one of LaLaurie's neighbors saw an eight-year-old slave girl fall to her death from the roof of the Royal Street mansion while trying to avoid punishment from a whip-wielding LaLaurie.
According to Martineau, this incident led to an investigation of the LaLauries, in which they were found guilty of illegal cruelty and forced to forfeit nine slaves of their household. These nine enslaved people were bought back by the LaLauries through an intermediary relative, and returned to the Royal Street residence.
On April 10, 1834, a fire broke out in the LaLaurie residence on Royal Street starting in the kitchen. When the police and fire marshals got there, they found the cook, a 70-year-old woman, chained to the stove by her ankle. She later said that she had set the fire as a suicide attempt because she feared being punished.
bystanders responding to the fire attempted to enter the quarters of those enslaved to ensure that everyone had been evacuated. Upon being refused the keys by the LaLauries, the bystanders broke down the doors to the quarters and found
"seven slaves, horribly mutilated, and suspended by the neck, with their limbs apparently stretched and torn from one extremity to the other",
When the discovery of the abused slaves became widely known, a mob of local citizens attacked the LaLaurie residence and "demolished and destroyed everything upon which they could lay their hands".
She did escape from any punishment and fled to france but she self imposed exile which is a shock, but also it was a complete different time back then,
She died on December 7, 1849 but the cause of death she completely unknown
