My top bets for who Eli mom is
Derek x Braeden (The kid is a hale. Would explain Derek’s disappearance in season six because he was raising Eli that was just born while Braeden had to go on some mercenary duties & when she came back Derek went with stiles in the jeep to beacon hills.)
Stiles x Lydia ( They break up cuz she realizes stiles is in love w Derek and Vice versa through her dream & finds out she is pregnant soon after. She hides it, Stiles and Derek start dating, stiles leaves for a mission. Lydia tells Derek and Derek tells stiles & they formally adopt Eli so he has a loving active parent in his life that isn’t working 24/7 stiles being fbi and Lydia a business ceo)
Stiles x Cora (kid is a hale, birth was probably a hookup and Cora tells Derek cuz she couldn’t handle being a young mom and stiles didn’t know, and Derek raised the kid so they can grow up. Cora fucks off cuz she don’t want parenting duties but will be the long distance aunt)
Stiles x Malia (kid would be a hale, probably a one night stand. Timeframe after Malia got back from Europe & Scott was with someone and stiles was visiting from fbi sometime after his & Lydia breakup. Malia doesn’t tell anyone but Peter & Derek and knows she’s not cut out for the mom thing. Asks Derek to raise her & stiles kid. Would explain why Peter sticks around. Derek probably tells sheriff but ask him not to tell stiles cuz he’s young. Stiles finds out years later when eli is like 3 when Stiles and Scott got into a fight over Scott getting rid of the Jeep and Derek having to get it back & Scott told Stiles cuz Peter told Scott and Scott was salty even tho he was with someone at the time. and that was the last time Scott saw eli and the last time stiles was in beacon hills. Peter and the sheriff being grandpas, Derek gets to be a dad without being in a relationship again, canon anti-Scott cuz he’s consistently an asshole)

No offense to Vince Mattis, he seem like a nice fellow, but they should have got a BIPOC to play Eli and make him Draeden's son. It would explain why Braeden wasn't in last season

To me Draeden are married living on a farm somewhere and Eli is there too because he just good and he’s Derek’s son and Braeden adopts him so he’s her son too.
Also tiktok thanks for reminding me why sterek has been on my nope ship list for a while.

“You took my ruined soul and you healed it Pushed through the dark until you could feel it now.....If you wake up one night I am not by your side You can find me howling at the moon”
tell me those lyrics don’t perfectly fit Draeden and Haylijah & Frankenwolf!!! (even with being cliche about wolves lol)

you ship derek and braeden?
SO MUCH.
That second chance love story for Derek is SO personal to me and SO full circle and healing and fulfilling for him — and her.
It's a good arc, in my opinion, and I wish the Teen Wolf: Movie had realized that and used their relationship (with Eli!) to its advantage.

Derek and Braeden are so good together i wish we got more of them. I guessing she isn’t the mom of his kid in the movie though. At least I haven’t heard that. I’ve always wanted more of her story.

Spoilers ahead!!!!!!
Never have I ever been this happy about seeing the spoilers of a movie.
Why did JD do that? Why? Why does he hate Derek so much?
So from what I learnt from the spoilers
Derek ' the punching bag of the show' Hale is dead.
Derek 'most happy ending deserving' Hale is dead
Derek 'my whole family burned in fire' Hale is killed because of fire in front of his own son( So now Eli has to go through the same amount of trauma like his father).
Derek 'I killed the love of my love- Paige- with my own hands to relieve her of her pain so at least she can die peacefully even though I lose my innocence and acquire a lot of trauma' Hale is dead at the same place where Paige died.
Derek 'always been nerfed' Hale is dead.
This is so stupid and wrong on so many levels. It is totally disrespectful for Derek, his fans, Derek × oc/Stiles/Braeden shippers.
I love the 'divided by ships but United by the movie' trope running around almost all of the shippers( sterek, stydia, thiam and so on) as they seemingly agree with Headcanon that the movie doesn't exist.
The minute I learnt that Derek died, i thought of not watching the movie but now I want to at least for Eli and cure my depression after watching the movie with fix it fics

My Future
Derek Hale x OC
Samantha, Stiles and Scott are always joking about the impossible. Who wouldn't when your best friend's dad is the sheriff of Beacon Hills? All jokes stop when they realize the impossible is indeed possible.

Chapter 48: Family and Hell
Sam headed back inside the building and looked for Theo who hissed, holding his cut side in pain. "You still with us, Raeken?", she asked, walking up to him.
He scoffed. "Last name basis, now?" She rolled her eyes, crouching near him. "Just tell me you wanna get killed first and I'll hand you to the beast if it'll make you feel better.", she says, sarcastically.
He grunted, trying to sit up on the wall. "Lemme see.", Sam said, reluctantly.
He looked at her before removing his bloody hand, showing her a gash. She grimaced and hovered her glowing hand above his wound, helping him heal.
He watched in astonishment once she finished, feeling sore in her own side before feeling the pain subside.
He looked up at her as she looked at him with a frown. "That's what you've been missing out on. If you played nice, you'd probably learn more about me than you do now.", she said, standing up.
Theo looked down before getting up. She turned away from him, ready to walk away. "We just...", she sighed. She paused. "I just wish you did better.", she says, before turning around to face him.
"We probably need you on our team more than you need us. But that doesn't make you boss. That just makes you a part of the pack. If you used your abilities the right way instead of just using them for being an overlord or whatever you were gonna call yourself.", Sam said then left the Raeken boy.
"Sam!", Scott called. She ran up to him, pausing as she caught Tracy. "Shit."
"So, you're alive.", Tracy frowned.
"Guess electricity doesn't knock you out for long, huh?", Sam scoffed and ran after Scott who rushed over to Liam.
Scott and Liam picked up the Surgeon and looked at Sam. "Is he…?", she grimaced.
"He's still alive.", Scott nodded. "We're taking him to Deaton."
Sam nodded, following Scott and Liam to the Animal Clinic.
The Surgeon was laid out on the table and the pack surrounded him. Deaton looked over the doctor, examining the head while Scott and Stiles stood on the one side as Liam and Sam stood on the opposite side.
"Can you keep him alive?" Scott questioned Deaton. "I'm not sure he technically is alive." Deaton said.
"Screw keeping him alive.", Liam uttered. "How do we get him to talk?"
"Personally, I don't think we utilize torture nearly enough.", Stiles retorted. "Stiles.", Sam warned with raised eyebrows.
Stiles let out a small huff.
"Wait. Did you hear that?", Liam asked and they looked at him before the older werewolves began to hear a ringing in their ears that got louder.
Sam covered her ears. "What's going on?", Stiles asked, confused. The ringing got deafeningly and painfully louder, causing Sam to drop to a knee. What the hell was this noise??
"It's Sebastien.", Scott whispered. "He's calling out to–"
Sam let out a loud, painful yell and the Surgeon shot up on the table, emitting his frequency. Everyone had their ears covered from the loud noises.
The tables rattled and the floor shook as the Surgeon jumped off the table, standing up and headed for the door. Liam uncovered his ears, instantly chasing after the doctor.
"Liam, wait!", Scott yelled and Sam reached for Liam but the Surgeon whipped his hand back that created a force wave and Liam flew back into Sam.
They both covered their ears, thrashing on the floor as the surgeon escaped.
As the noise decreased, Stiles ran to Sam and took her in his arms, as she groaned. "You okay?", Stiles asked.
Sam let out a panting sigh. "I hate those doctors."
"The cane.", Scott whispered.
"They got the cane.", Liam said "What?" Stiles frowned as well as Sam.
"The pike was the cane that he had and Argent and Gerard took it.", Scott stated.
Sam got up. "Then that means that Sebastien wants it and he's gonna track it down."
With that, Scott starting looking through Mason's files. "Maybe there's something in here. Something about how he was a Genetic Chimera."
"Mason had a vanishing twin.", Deaton nodded.
"Now we've got a vanishing Mason.", Stiles complained.
"A vanishing twin?", Sam asked. "He ate his twin.", Deaton summed. Sam grimaced. God.
Liam shrugged. "What does that have to do with him turning into a 250-year-old French guy? How does that even happen?"
"Scott might have something.", Deaton said "Mason's twin wasn't entirely gone. That's what made him a Genetic Chimera."
"The DNA was still there.", Scott said in realization.
"Metaphorically speaking, the DNA of Mason could still be inside Sebastien as well."
"How?" Stiles furrowed his brow.
"Energy.", Sam suggested.
"Sam's right. Life is energy. Energy doesn't just disappear. The Dread Doctors may have found a way to break the rules of the supernatural world but there are some rules that simply won't break.", Deaton explained.
"So Mason can't just be gone?", Liam asked.
"Somewhere in Sebastien he has to still exist in some form. A spark of energy, a flicker of memory."
Stiles picked up the Surgeon's mask, eyeing it. "Hang on... Liam, you said Mason said something right before he turned."
"Yeah.", Liam said. "He said, "That's not my name'." Sam said.
Scott nodded. "He finally remembered his name." "Damnatio Memoriae.", Stiles said.
"That's what they wanted. They wanted Sebastien to remember his name.", Liam nodded.
"That was enough for them.", Sam said. "We called him Mason. Kept calling him Mason and he just… he wasn't having it."
Deaton looked at Scott. "Scott, you know the myth of what happens when you call a werewolf by its given name?"
"It turns back to human."
"What does that mean?", Liam asked. "Someone can just walk up to the Beast, yell Mason's name and turn him back?"
"Not just someone..."
"It's gotta be Lydia.", Sam said.
Stiles nodded. "We'll get her."
The teen split up, and Sam went after the Surgeon. She managed to sense where the doctor was and saw a man's head instead.
She walked up to it to see a ghostly pale, clammy face that had indents of old stitches in it. She gave it a nudge with her foot, causing the one good eye to look up at her.
"The beast…. has been created.", he rasped.
Sam frowned. "What was the purpose? What were you trying to gain from this?"
The man took in a raspy breath. "I…." Black blood dripped out of his mouth. His death was approaching. "I owed a friend a favor."
She tilted her head in confusion before letting out a soft breath of realization. "You're Marcel."
The surgeon nodded. Sam shook her head. "You brought him back. Why?" The man hadn't answered. "How do we stop him from hurting anyone else? He's uncontrollable.", Sam pressed.
"You can defeat him…with the pike.", he answered. "Just as the banshee must wield her scream..and the hellhound wields its fire." As he gave a final sigh, he finally died.
Sam walked away heading for the police station. In the sheriff's office, sebastien sat in front of sheriff stilinski's desk and the sheriff put away his phone after getting Stiles' messages, explaining the problems. The older Stilinski looked at Sebastien. "You're looking for one of the argents?"
Sebastien looked at him with amused eyes. "You seem to know who I am. That means you know what I'm capable of."
"I've got some experience.", the sheriff agreed.
"Your weapons may be more sophisticated than the arrows and the bullets of my time, but they still won't kill me.", Sebastien determined.
The sheriff reached into his holster, took out his gun and sat it down on his desk as he stared at Sebastien, certain of himself. "I'm pretty sure a nine millimeter beretta will do more damage than an 18th century musket."
Sebastien set his jaw, eyeing the gun before looking at the sheriff. "Are you certain? I can walk out of this place with my hands clean. Or, I can walk out with them drenched in blood.", he said, with raised eyebrows. "Your choice."
Sebastien stood up and the sheriff did as well, preparing for any attack.
The deputy outside the office noticed the commotion and busted in the office. "Sir?", the deputy looked at her supervisor.
"Clarke, don't." Sheriff held his hand up to stop her. Sebastien glared at Clarke and she glared at him. "Stop where you are."
His eyes immediately illuminated in a blue light and his fangs protruded from his lips. "Let him go.", the sheriff ordered but the deputy whipped out her gun, aiming at Sebastien, making him let out a growl as he pounded at her. Both authorities shot off their guns.
Lydia, who was already at the sheriff's office, heard the guns go off, fearing what was to come. Lydia left the room she stayed in and watched as Sebastien turned towards her and growled. He ran over, ready to strike his long claws into her throat.
Before he could harm her any deeper, Lydia let out her best screech, making him stumble back. She raised her hands, pushing the force of her scream to make him fly back into the wall.
Hayden arrived and saw his form, making her step away in fear. Sebastien glanced down at his claws, seeing Lydia's blood on them and looked up at her to see her holding her bloody neck. Lydia's eyes fluttered as she dropped to her knees.
His eyes then roamed up to Hayden and he stood, huffing. "Hayden. Your name is Hayden." Before he could attack anyone else, Sam busted in the sheriff's office, partially shifted as she let out a growl.
She looked to see a bloody Lydia and knelt down to her. "Hey. Hey!", she carried Lydia into her arms as she glanced at Sebastien who took Hayden. "Shit."
"Sam.", the girl looked up to see the sheriff. "We gotta get her to the hospital." Sam nodded and carried her out to the van.
On the way to the hospital, Sam made sure to heal anything that could fatally kill Lydia before arriving. At least, she'd be able to get some rest.
Sam helped Lydia out of the van and into the hospital, coming straight for Melissa. "We need help! It's Lydia."
The woman got more nurses to help Lydia onto a stretcher and into a room. "What happened?", Melissa asked Sam. Sam sighed. "The usual."
Scott, Stiles, and Liam had arrived at the hospital, and Melissa gave a rundown of Lydia's condition.
After that, Scott, Sam and Liam waited out in the hall while Stiles stayed with Lydia. "Is she okay?", Liam asked. "She's gonna be fine, but... She can't really talk.", Scott said.
Liam nodded. "Then it's over, isn't it?" He frowned, growing upset. "There's nothing we can do to save him."
Sam looked at the boy sadly. "Liam…"
Scott picked up his phone, receiving multiple voicemails from Kira and walked away to listen to them. Liam sighed sadly. They were running out of time and he was gradually losing his friend.
It hurt.
Sam looked at the boy and brought him into a hug. "I'm sorry. I wish we had more time to get him.", she mumbled. He hugged her back. "I just… I wish I knew earlier."
Sam pulled away to look at him. "Hey, there's nothing you could've done. You weren't even supposed to be dragged into supernatural things. You're still new to this, there's just some things you might not know or not be prepared for. But we got you anyways.", she reassured.
Liam looked down. "Scott… Scott told me you revived someone. Could you do that in case we do lose Mason? In case… I do?", he asked.
Sam frowned sadly. "It only works if I take someone's life. I was only able to revive him because I helped kill the Nogitsune. It would've probably worked if I had killed Kate, but I couldn't. It's not always easy. Trust me."
She put a hand on his shoulder, making him look at her. "We're gonna get this done. We'll save Mason. Okay?" Liam sighed and nodded before being brought into another hug.
They pulled away once Scott came back. "C'mon."
Liam and Sam looked confused. "Why?"
"Because I've got an idea. And because this isn't over.", he determined and his betas followed after him, entering Lydia's room.
Scott pulled his mom aside to talk to her and Sam went over to Stiles. "How's she doing?", she asked. "She's stable. Scott's mom said she got lucky."
Sam nodded.
Scott had told them his plan and his pack nodded. Liam and Scott helped Lydia sit up as Melissa walked over to her. "Lydia, this is gonna have to be just between us, because I could get fired for it."
Melissa took out a syringe filled with a liquid.
"It's a cortisone shot. It's gonna bring the inflammation down," Scott stated as his mom took off the cap to reveal the huge needle.
Scott's betas instantly tensed up, getting nervous themselves, while Lydia weakly nodded, taking out her arm from under the covers. "Not there.", Melissa said and reached for the bandage patch that was on Lydia's neck. She peels back the one top part and Lydia groans in pain.
Stiles nodded. "Oh, yeah, okay, I'm gonna need to leave."
"You're not going anywhere.", Melissa instructed. "Hold her hand."
"Okay, fine." He huffed. "I'm not leaving, but I still might faint.", he complained.
Melissa took a breath. "Okay. Here we go." She aimed the needle to her neck and before she could insert it, they paused at the sound of a thud.
They turned around and saw that Liam had passed out. Sam shook her head and picked him up as Melissa continued.
After everything settled and got Lydia dressed up, they quickly left the hospital. "Okay. I'll get Malia. Text me when you find Parrish.", Stiles said, getting ready to go.
"Hold on.", Scott stopped him and reached into his pocket, handing Stiles a brown paper bag.
"What is this?", Stiles asked, confused.
"Something I've been working on for a while. Just make sure Malia gets it.", Scott said.
Stiles nodded. "Is it plan B?"
"It was plan A."
"Plan A never works.", Stiles frowned.
"This is gonna work.", Sam said, making the boys look at her. "It has to. We haven't exactly failed before. We're gonna finish this."
Scott nodded and left with Liam and Lydia. Stiles and Sam arrived at the house, and hopped out of the Jeep, running up to the front of the house.
Stiles quickly swung the door open and stopped, making Sam frown and look over his shoulder.
Malia was standing on the staircase with her fangs bared while her mother was on the opposite side, pointing her gun directly at Stiles and Sam. "Ah, damn.", Stiles mumbled, shaking his head.
Before the bullet could hit either of the two, Sam put up a barrier and pushed it toward the woman. Sam huffed and looked around, her eyes catching Malia. "You okay?", she asked. Malia nodded.
"Yeah– look out!", Stiles takes Sam in his arms, ducking her out of the way as Corrine attacks Malia.
They ducked as Malia groaned, clattering on the glass coffee table, causing it to shatter.
Corinne threw Malia into the wall, and glared at her. Sam and Stiles watched as Corinne turned towards them, grinning. "You should've brought your bat.", Sam muttered, and shifted, growling at the woman.
"Hm. You're new.", Corrine said, turning to attack Sam. Before she could, Stiles moved in front of Sam, ready to send a punch to the woman. "No, you don't!"
Corrine dodged and backhanded him onto the floor, landing him in the shards of glass from the coffee table. "Stiles!", Sam exclaimed, not seeing him move.
Sam let out a loud growl, bringing the woman's shadow toward her before sending a punch in the woman's face, slamming her back against the wall next to Malia.
Stiles rolled over coughing and Sam rushed to him. "Hey.", she called, helping him on his back. Her eyes widened at the large glass shard in his shoulder. His blood was spreading fast. "Shit.", she muttered. He groaned. "Just get the talons.", Stiles said.
They jumped at the sound of a gunshot and saw Malia holding her bloodied shoulder as her mother aimed a pistol at her and continued to shoot.
Sam hurriedly got the talons, and looked at Malia. "Malia, catch!", Sam called, gaining the werecoyote's attention and threw the talons to her. Malia hurriedly caught the talons and put them onto her palm.
Her mother stormed over to her and plunged her claws into the girl's stomach as her eyes brightened blue.
Malia groaned, clenching her jaw tightly. "I want my power back!" Her mother growled.
Malia put the claws on and let the jar fall to the floor. Malia growled back and plunged her own claws into her mother's stomach, making the talons illuminate a pale blue color. Malia huffed as her blue eyes brightened more than before. "I want my family back.", she declared.
Corinne gasped, her glowing eyes dimmed as Malia removed her from the talons, making her stumble back. Braeden rushed behind her, and before Corrine could run, Braeden brought the butt of her shotgun and slammed it in her face, knocking her out.
Sam let out a sigh and gave Braeden a nod.
"Can someone please come and take this gigantic shard of glass out of my chest? Please?", Stiles said, making Sam chuckle and kneel down to him.
Sam placed a hand on his unharmed shoulder and looked at him as she reached for the shard. "Take a deep breath."
"On three.", Stiles said hurriedly. Sam rolled her eyes. "One."
"Two." Stiles let out a loud yell as Sam yanked it out. She hurriedly healed him as he whined. "We were supposed to go three.", he frowned.
Sam shook her head, helping him up.
After leaving the house, Sam, Stiles, Braeden and Malia were notified that the beast was finally taken care of and Theo was taken to hell by his dead sister who Kira revived.
"Dammit, I wish I could've seen that!", Sam complained. "You're so weird!", Stiles exclaimed as he drove them home.

❛  we’ll get through this together.  ❜ ( Braeden to Derek ) { @heldheart }
For years, Derek had gotten by on his own. He'd had no other choice...He'd lost his whole family in that fire, or at least was under the impression that they were all dead. Later, he'd find out that wasn't completely the case. Still, he had those pretty lonely years behind him. Being a werewolf, who were pack animals, it was the same as going through hell.
But now... Now those days were over. Even if he wasn't used to it yet.
"Yeah...I know we will."

my draeden-shipper opinion of the movie (in a positive light):
i see it as there’s at least 50 ways eli is braeden’s (ok a handful) even without him having her coloring. the timeline fits so biologically he could be hers. they could've adopted him from one of the packs that got killed, or could've adopted him from cora. i remember in s6 derek was looking for her in brazil. don't remember what happened to her (been awhile) but yea. and as scott said they didn't have to be blood to be family. or as bad as it would be something could've happened to braeden and that's why she wasn't there. i mean they were both overly emotional beyond the transforming-into-a-wolf problems. and from the end of s6 i don't think derek would've stayed in beacon hills for just any reason. i mean both hoechlin & tandy (even as recent as a yr ago) said just because they're not onscreen doesn't mean they're not together. derek did say eli was afraid of him as a baby with the coyoyte attack & wouldn't come near him. i mean malia seemed to know about eli's wolfy problems but they didn't seem very close. so someone else would've had to be there. as for the jeep fixation from eli (and derek), i think that was because derek saw stiles as pack and it also gave him something to do over the years as a real job. I’m not saying it’s the right opinion or what the writer want but with it left open that’s how I see it. I do think it’s pretty lousy that they killed him off though. it made sense he did it for eli but it also lacked a little oomph in the ending after all that buildup in the fight scene.

For those who have not ever watched Teen Wolf and still indulge in it's fandom, let me break down some misconceptions of the show with some small facts. I'll try not to spoil too much.
1) Derek is much older than Stiles. This surprises a lot of people. Stiles is about 16 at the start of the show, and Derek is somewhere up in his 20s.
2) Braeden x Derek is a thing in the show. One of the most healthiest relationships Derek has had in a long time.
3) Scott and Derek had more chemistry and bonding moments than Stiles and Derek (tho that's mostly an opinion). But most importantly, and this is fact, both Derek and Stiles LIKE Scott.
4) Scott and Stiles are best friends. They've been friends since childhood.
5) Derek is a heavily traumatized character and you'll see that plenty in the show
6) You can defer to fanon preference, but the name of Stiles' dad is actually Noah and not John.
7) Deaton is not evil and corrupt. He's not a bad guy. The show never hinted at that. And he doesn't have magical powers he can randomly give to people. The biggest 'magic power' he has is Mountain ash.
8) Scott actually reminds Derek a lot of his mom (Talia). In the show, Derek expresses this to him with fondness.
9) Malia chooses to identify as Tate, not a Hale, because the Tates were more like family to her.
10) Scott is the protagonist.
11) Deaton was like a parent figure to Scott. he has guided and even been protective of Scott regardless.
12) Peter Hale doesn't fit the good guy description. There's a lot of boundaries he crosses from season 1. There's a list. This isn't character bashing
--
I'll end it here as this being just the basics. If someone is going to fight me, watch one season when you have time. <3

You Can Trust Me
Derek Hale x Fem!reader
Other Characters: Kate Argent, Scott, Malia, Stiles (mentioned), Lydia (mentioned), Braeden (mentioned)
Warnings: slight spoilers for s4ep1&2, cannon level violence (though nothing too graphic at all)
Summary: When Derek gets turned back into his younger self, she promises he can trust her.
Word count: 2594
Scott, Stiles, and I had been friends for as long as I could remember. I moved into town when I was just 10 years old, instantly becoming friends with the two. That’s how I met Derek Hale, and how our crazy involvement with the supernatural began.
Derek and I had a different relationship than the rest of the pack. He would often keep me in the loft if the current threat ever got too close, opting to have Peter stay back and keep an eye on me instead of allowing me to help like Stiles. For the last few years, the crush I had on Derek only grew stronger and Lydia was the first to call me out on it. When we were sitting in the loft for one of our pack meetings, she had noticed how I tuned Scott out as he talked but instantly focused on Derek when he spoke. She had nudged my side, making my cheeks burn pink, and later took me out for dinner to talk about what she saw.
We talked at the diner for more than two hours about my crush, going into detail on everything that she could get from me. I had her sworn to secrecy to not tell anyone for fear that he would completely reject me.
So, while broken down on the side of a road in Mexico, she had stuck to my side in an attempt to keep me calm. Stiles was busy fixing his Jeep, Malia and Kira keeping watch on the sand around us, while Lydia and I tried to attempt helping Stiles. Scott had gone off with a woman named Brayden in search of Derek, promising to be back by morning.
I spent the night sitting on the ground by the front tire of Roscoe, Stiles’ jeep. Lydia kept sending glances my way all night, but I ignored her until I was able to see the motorcycle coming back down the road just after sunrise.
Scott had jumped off to grab my arms, pulling me off to the side. “Hey, he’s alright, but something happened in that church. Derek, he’s different.”
“What do you mean?” I tried pulling away only for Scott to stop me. “What happened?”
“I don’t know what happened.” Scott shrugged. “Something changed him, made him younger.”
I spent the entire ride home in the back of Stiles’ jeep, worrying over Derek and wondering why he wasn’t waking up. Once we got back, we went to Deaton’s office first. Scott had called ahead, letting the doctor know about our situation and to see if there was anything he could do to help. Once we got Derek inside and laid on the exam table, everyone watched as Deaton worked for a few minutes on checking for anything unusual, and once coming up empty handed, he sent everyone home for school in a few hours.
“Someone should stay here with him.” Scott mumbled to the group as we turned to leave.
“I think it should be Y/N.” Lydia said, stopping in her tracks.
“What?” I looked up at her. “Why me?” My cheeks were stained a soft pink.
“Out of all of us, you and Derek were closest. And he trusts you the most.” She explained. “When he wakes up, I’m sure he’s going to be confused. You’ll be the only face he’d want to see.” Everyone seemed to agree with her, so they headed out to gather their things for school while I went back into the exam room to join Deaton.
It seemed like hours passed since my friends had left. Deaton had continued to check on Derek when he needed breaks from his paperwork in his office. I had sat myself down in one of the plastic chairs, pulled up beside the table, my arms crossed on the metal surface with my head resting on them. My phone would occasionally go off with a text message, one of the pack members checking in, but there was never much to say other than a finger twitch or a deeper breath than I had been listening to all day.
Deaton had come back in yet again to check on Derek, but this time, the young wolf’s eyes snapped open, his body launching up into a seated position. The doctor had been fast enough to grab my arms and yank me back before I was swiped at by a clawed hand. The boy’s eyes softened ever so slightly when he got a look at our faces and heard our racing heartbeats, but it wasn’t long before he was running out of the clinic.
Stiles and Scott were able to get Derek from the police station hours after he ran from the clinic, the three of us headed towards Scott’s house. Scott’s phone buzzed in his pocked and he told us how he had to go take care of something, leaving Stiles and I alone with Derek.
Derek had seemed apprehensive about following Stiles into the McCall house, but a soft smile and a few encouraging words from me and helped him follow us inside. “Scott?” An older male’s voice called from the kitchen.
Stiles and I shared a worried look, and before we could turn around and get out, Scott’s father showed up in the doorway with a paper bag held in his hand. “Um, hi.” I greeted, offering a slightly awkward wave.
“Stiles. Y/N.” Mr. McCall nodded to us. “Who’s your friend?”
My eyes flashed to Derek, trying to think of a believable excuse. “He’s my cousin.” Stiles blurted out, wrapping an arm around Derek’s shoulders. “My cousin Miguel.” Both Derek and I looked to Stiles to see if he was serious or not, and to our horror, he was completely serious.
We were all quickly pulled into the worst dinner of our lives. Scotts father continuously asked Derek questions, obviously seeing right through Stiles’s lie, but Derek was able to play along. I ate a little food before excusing myself and heading up to Scott’s room, wanting to call him and warn him of his father being home.
I barely managed to send the text before the door was being pushed open. “Y/N?” I recognized Derek’s voice as he called out, not wanting to startle me.
“Yeah, come in.” I smiled at the Hale boy, sliding my phone into my back pocket, and sitting down on Scott’s bed. “How are you holding up?” I asked him as he sat down beside me, leaving more space than usual between us.
Derek shrugged. “It’s all so confusing.”
“Is there anything I can try to help with?” I asked.
He shrugged his shoulders again. “I don’t even know what to ask. I mean, you three look at me like you know who I am, but I’ve got no idea who you are.”
A deep sigh left my nose as I adjusted, pulling my legs up under me and turning to face him. “You’re Derek Hale. You’ve helped us through a lot recently, taught all of us a lot of things about the supernatural world.” His dark eyes lifted up to watch me. “You’ve saved all of us too many times to count. It’s been a hard few years for all of us.”
“If I’m going to be honest, I’m a little scared.” His voice dropped to a whisper, almost like he didn’t want anyone hearing his confession. “I woke up in a strange place, surrounded by strange people, in a city that doesn’t even have my home, and no one will tell me what happened. I don’t know who to trust.”
My fingers twitched together nervously. “I know how scary that must be, but I can tell you one thing. You can trust me. It’s gotta be weird having people know you without you knowing them, but we are actually really good friends. You’ve watched out for me since we met. Let me help watch out for you until we can figure out how to help you.”
“I can trust you.” He didn’t phrase it as a question, more so a way for himself to finally believe it.
The window creaked from behind Derek, alerting both of us. Derek’s arm had crossed protectively over me as he turned to look for the cause of the sound, something he did normally that was showing through his younger self. “Kate?” Derek’s eyes adjusted to the dark of the night faster than mine, but I was able to see her climbing through the window.
“Hey, handsome.” She greeted with a smile. “Been a long time.” Right, Peter killed her, or so we had thought. “Longer than you think.” Her eyes flashed back to me as both Derek and I stood from the bed, my feet automatically drifting closer to Derek’s side. “Aww, little Y/N, still playing shadow?” She taunted, a sick smile on her face before she came closer.
Derek didn’t tense up like he typically does. Instead, he stayed pretty relaxed, making me think that younger Derek had known Kate better than I thought he did. “Derek.” I shrunk closer to him as she got closer to me, not trusting Kate at all after what Peter had done to her.
His hand flexed at his side a little, like he wanted to do something but couldn’t think of why or what to do. “Still scared hun?” Kate stalked closer, ultimately putting herself between Derek and me. “He doesn’t even know you sweetheart.” As she continued to draw closer and closer in the dark room, I had taken steps back, trying to keep as much space between her and I as I could. “He knows me. He can trust me.” My heart started to race, images of her clawed hand swiping at my throat flashing through my head, eyes frantically flickering between her and Derek as I backed up.
In a blur, one of her hands had enclosed around my throat, holding me still and putting just enough pressure to where I was uncomfortable. “Kate, please. Let me go.” My hands reached up to try prying at her fingers, but I was no match for her newfound strength.
“Kate.” Derek’s voice growled out from behind her in a warning. “Let her go.”
A sick smile crossed her face. “If you say so.” Her hand slipped from my throat and just a second after my eyes met Derek’s, she had kicked her boot into my chest and send me stumbling back into Scott’s adjoining bathroom. The door slammed shut and I could hear something being pressed against the outside of the door.
“No.” I scrambled into my knees. “Derek!” I call, banging on the door. “Kate, let me out.” I could hear muffled voices of her and Derek going back and forth, a little worry in the boy’s voice as he said my name. “Derek don’t listen to her. Don’t go anywhere with her. You can’t trust her.”
Minutes of silence passed by before whatever was leaned against the door was pulled away and the door swung open. Stiles stood on the other side, phone pressed to his ear. I rushed out of the room, frantically looking around for Derek, but the still open window confirmed my worry. “Calm down.” Stiles tried.
“Kate took him.” I looked back at Stiles. “Kate took Derek. Ask Scott where she would take him.” My hands grabbed the keys to Stiles’s jeep from his hands before I raced down the stairs and out to the car. I jumped into the passenger seat as Stiles came chasing after me, getting into the already running car and heading towards the school.
He managed to pull up quick enough, letting me jump out and meet Scott and Malia while he went off to delay Scott’s dad. “Hey, calm down.” Scott pressed his hands to my shoulders.
“Kate took him and somehow managed to age him back, before kidnapping him, again. I can’t stay calm Scott. What if she kills him?”
“I don’t think that’s what she’s going to do.”
“Scott.” Malia called from the stairs going up to the second floor of the school. “Scott, what’s that smell?”
Chris Argent had told me stories of some of the supernatural beings he had faced in the past. I tried to check up on him as much as I could after Allison died. I didn’t have a father myself and I had seen him as a fatherly figure since Allison and I had become friends. This creature though, he didn’t have a lot to say on it, other than the fact that they were pretty much soulless creatures that were practically invincible. Berserkers seemed to scare the older Argent man, and so they scared me. I never thought I’d face one, let alone be running from one as my friends battled the other.
I had managed to put enough distance between myself and the one chasing me, but the one that Malia and Scott had been focused on caught me by surprise. It’s thick, bone covered hand swept out just as I was running past, sending me flying across the school floor and sliding up against the lockers in a corner not far from my friends.
Both of the berserkers faces locked on me, slowly creeping closer. “Scott!” I shouted, cowering as far as I could into the corner of lockers. “Scott!” Before any of their hands were able to grab at me, a large shadow managed to knock both away from me. The berserkers went after the shadow, giving Scott and Malia enough time to come to my sides and pull me to my feet.
Once the shadow was able to scare off the berserkers, it stood to it’s full height and turned to face us. Derek, as we knew him, stood in front of us, panting slightly from the fight and running all the way up to us. “Derek?” Scott was the first to ask, holding onto my shoulder.
His eyes locked on my face, and with a subtle nod, I was running across the hall over to him. Derek’s arms wrapped tightly around my waist as I threw my arms around his shoulders. He was back, after months of wondering what happened to him and the past few hours trying to convince him that we were friends, he was back.
“Are you ok?” I asked as I took a step back. “What happened to you?”
“Kate broke into the loft and shot me with wolfsbane. I don’t remember much after that.” His hands had yet to leave my waist as his head came to rest against mine. “All I remember is that I can trust you. I did, I do trust you.”
A breathy laugh escaped my nose as he tipped his head down to press his lips against mine softly. My fingers drifted from his shoulders to his hair, pulling him closer to me. His hands tightened their hold around my waist, slowly wrapping his arms around me completely.
A cough pulled the two of us apart, my cheeks flushed a bright pink as I glanced up into his eyes. “Guys.” Scott spoke, his feet shuffling loudly against the hall floors. “We should probably get out of here.”
“Go.” Derek told him. “We’re right behind you.” I could faintly hear Scott and Malia walk down the stairs, back towards the front of the school. “Come with me.” Derek didn’t ask, seemingly already knowing my answer when I linked my hand tightly in his. “You can trust me.”
A bright smile covered my face. “And you can trust me.”
