The first thing Stiles Stilinski says upon sprinting down the hallway to stop immediately in front of you, is, “Theo Raeken is going to kill us all again.”
The second thing Stiles tells you, without a single pause after the first nor one word of explanation, is, “And it’s all your fault.”
Stiles is prone to drama. He’s a lovely boy, sure, you’ve been his friend since you were a kid, and you’ve counted on him to save your life from the millions of dangers all living in the home you both call Beacon Hills, but you’ve learned to take pronouncements like these with a grain of salt.
So, instead of losing your mind with worry like you did the first dozen times Stiles approached you with yet another rumor of death and danger, you just smile, put the last of your books in your locker, and shut the door. Once you take a breath or two, you turn to face him at last.
“Good morning, Stiles,” you say pointedly, “How good to see you again. How was your weekend? Oh, you’re spouting off about another crazy theory? So good to hear! I know you’re going to tell it to me nicely, and you definitely won’t try to do something weird like blame me for it. That would be ridiculous, don’t you think?”
Stiles has the grace to look at least a little needled, but he still stands firm. “I’m not kidding, Y/N. We’re about to get hit by Hurricane Theo, Round Two, and when we’re all bloody, broken corpses, I’ll be having the last laugh.”
You frown. “I thought we would all be dead. How can you be laughing if we’re all bloody, broken corpses like you said?”
Stiles waves a hand irritably. “That’s why it would be the last laugh, idiot. I would rub it in your face then immediately pass away. Anyway, you’re not focusing.”
“I am focusing,” you argue, “I have been focusing on Theo Raeken for a while now. We all have.”
Stiles groans. “He’s going to try to topple our pack again, though. Look, I’ve been watching him for a while, and I know it. I can feel it. And I was right about him the first time, right? Even when you all doubted me, I was right. I’m going to be right again.”
As much as you’d like to have some snappy little comeback, you can’t deny that Stiles totally hit the nail on the head with Theo the first time around. Back when Theo Raeken returned to Beacon Hills for the first time in years, everyone in the McCall pack had been more than willing to welcome him with open arms. Only Stiles had second thoughts about the guy, and Stiles was proven right when Theo tried to kill Scott and take over the rest of you.
Now, though, you’re all aware of Theo’s twisted intentions. There’s no doubt in any of your minds that he’s still scheming, but for now, he’s been holding back. Nothing has happened to alert anyone’s suspicions more than usual, yet Stiles seems dead set in his latest theory.
You sigh and start to walk down the hallway, Stiles by your side. “Fine, then. What makes you think he’s going to pick today to attack?”
“Well, it might not be today,” Stiles admits. “Soon, though. This I promise. And I’m not just making stuff up, Y/N. He’s been acting differently. He even talked to me about it.”
You arch a brow. “You let Theo get close enough to talk?”
“Not willingly, but he wouldn’t leave me alone until I did,” Stiles grumbles.
You have to bite back a laugh. You can picture exactly how that conversation went– Stiles doggedly avoiding Theo as long as he could, Theo just a few paces behind until Stiles gave in and let him speak. Stiles hates Theo’s guts, which is understandable, considering Theo tried to murder his best friend, so whatever Theo had to say must have been important to risk Stiles’ wrath.
Now that you’re finally listening, though, Stiles is holding back the crucial information. He really is so dramatic when he wants to be, isn’t he?
You wave your hand irritably. “Alright, then. Get on with it. What did he say?”
Stiles huffs out a breath at getting rushed like this, but his face turns serious soon enough. “Well, that’s the thing. He wasn’t really telling me anything. In fact, the only thing he really did was ask me about you.”
A pause looms between you. You’re no wolf, but you swear you can hear every conversation happening up and down this hall, how the words echo in your head. It’s easier to pick apart everyone else’s idle chatter instead of comprehending what Stiles has just told you.
“He asked about me? That makes no sense. I’m human, Stiles. What would he want with me?”
Stiles swats you on the shoulder. “Hey, as, like, one of the only other humans here, we’ve got to be proud of ourselves. We have value. I don’t know why he asked, though. He didn’t mention pack stuff or anything. He just wanted to know how you were doing, if you were busy after school or something.”
Your eyes widen. “You don’t think he’s trying to kill me after we get out of class or something? What did you tell him?”
“I’m already a step ahead,” Stiles assures you. “I said you were totally busy and we wouldn’t let you near any of his traitorous pack without the rest of us there to keep you safe. He seems kind of put off by that, but he said that he wasn’t trying to kill you.”
“That’s exactly what someone who’s trying to kill me would say,” you point out.
“Tell me about it. I don’t think he’ll try anything today, at least not at school, but be careful, alright? Don’t go anywhere without one of us. I don’t like this.” Stiles says.
You shiver. “I don’t like it either.”
Theo’s attention never ends well. And, when the two of you turn a corner, you glance over your shoulder and see that someone else has taken your spot at your locker. He’s not trying to open it, just leaning against the metal. He raises a hand in greeting when he sees you looking. It’s Theo Raeken, and judging by the proud smile on his face, he knows exactly who you’re talking about.
You can’t focus throughout that class, nor the next. Theo Raeken is dangerous. He played all of you except Stiles like a fiddle the first time he was trying to kill Scott. What’s to stop him from trying to do it again? Or, worse, what’s to stop him from trying to do it to you?
You stop by your locker later that day. You had just managed to put the morning’s incident from your mind, but when you unlock the door to find a note pushed inside, it all comes rushing back. The paper inside carries no threats, but you still feel your blood run cold when you read it.
Meet me outside after the school day ends. T.R.
You show Scott and the others at lunch. None of them like it either. Scott agrees with Stiles in telling you to never go out alone, and certainly not to meet Theo like he asked. This has to be a trap. There’s no way it could be anything else.
You’re perfectly fine with that plan, but, as it turns out, it’s a little easier said than done. You end up staying a little while after class to ask a teacher a few questions about an upcoming exam, and when you emerge into the empty hallway once more, it occurs to you that you forgot to tell anyone that you were staying after. It’s not that any one of the pack would intentionally abandon you, especially not after the shift in Theo’s attention today, but they all would have assumed that someone else was with you, and left it at that.
Now, you’re wandering the school alone, listening to the sound of your footsteps echo off of the walls and wondering if he’s waiting for you somewhere. Your phone is in your hand, ready to text one of your friends to pick you up, but you don’t live far from school. It won’t take that long to get home, not if you hurry. You’re certain you can avoid him if you try.
Glancing around to make sure he’s not lingering by the door, you set out into the sunlight. Your footsteps are quick, hurrying around corners and down the sidewalk, but, as it turns out, not quick enough. Then again, how could you ever think you could outpace him? You’re human. Theo is a chimera. He could sprint down the length of your neighborhood in the time it takes you to blink.
You wait for the inevitable– claws in your throat, perhaps, or a knife in your back, something Theo-like and unavoidable, but he doesn’t kill you. Not yet. Instead, Theo Raeken walks next to you, tilts his head up to the blue afternoon sky, and says, “It’s a nice day out, isn’t it?”
You blink. Of all the ways you expected this encounter to end, talking to Theo about the weather was just about last on your list. “What?”
Theo shrugs. “It’s warm out. I don’t know.”
He still seems nice, which is weird, obviously. To be honest, this abrupt change in his usual demeanor is freaking you out more than if he’d just been his normal, scheming, threatening self. At least then you wouldn’t be waiting for the other shoe to drop.
“What do you want, Theo?” You ask at last. “Are you here to kill me or not?”
Theo glances over at you, looking genuinely surprised. “What are you talking about? I would never kill you. Y/N, I could never hurt you. You know that.”
He’s not entirely wrong. During his attempted toppling of the McCall pack, Scott nearly died, and many of you were injured, but Theo never touched so much as a hair on your head. Truth be told, back when he was still pretending to be good, you liked him a lot. He won you over fast, probably faster than he should have. Still, that was then, and this is now. You’re both on opposite sides of a war, and that sort of gulf cannot be easily crossed by anything. Least of all by you.
“Fine. Are you trying to use me to hurt the pack?”
Theo scoffs. “They’re trying to convince you to see the worst in me. I’m not surprised, to be honest. I’m not here to hurt you, Y/N, not in any way. I’m here because I want to take you on a date.”
You stop walking. This is absurd. You wait for him to start laughing or something, call an end to the joke, but he doesn’t. He just pauses by your side. “What time can I pick you up?” He continues, as if nothing has been said at all.
“Never,” you manage, “We’re not going on a date, Theo.”
He frowns. “Why not? If you’re busy this week, I can wait. It’s fine.”
“No, we can’t reschedule, because it’s not happening. You tried to murder Scott. You’re still trying to take over our pack. Why would I go on a date with you?”
Theo lifts a shoulder. “Because you like me. And don’t try to argue, Y/N, I know you do. You liked me well enough before I started moving forward with my plans.”
This, again, is a little closer to the truth than you’d like to admit. Theo was wonderful before he tried to murder everyone you hold dear. He was charming and funny. He partnered with you in class, he helped you study, he walked home with you after school. He was perfectly lovely until you burst into the Beacon Hills High School library one day to find him standing over Scott’s corpse.
“I might have, but that’s over now, Theo. I can’t love someone who tried to kill my friends. End of story.”
Theo shakes his head, brown hair flying around his eyes, which have taken on a glint almost akin to madness. “That’s the noble thing to do, sure, but you don’t have to be noble. We don’t have to be noble. It’s just you and me, Y/N. We don’t need any of them. Come on, you can’t tell me that you don’t want this.”
He says every word with such certainty that you know he believes it. You understand now why he was able to rally the other chimeras behind him, why even Liam was able to fall for his scheming. Theo is someone you want to believe. Always.
Always, even when you know better. Especially when you know better. You take a subtle step back, then two. “I can’t do this, Theo. Even if I went out with you, I’d be wondering if you were going to stab me in the back the entire time. I can’t trust you.”
His face falls. “But you want this. You want me.”
“I do,” you admit, “but that doesn’t make it right.”
He goes quiet. You wait for him to shout or swear or something like the monster you’ve been hearing so much about, but instead, he just looks towards where you were walking again. “Can I at least walk you home?”
You nod. “You remember where to go?”
“Of course,” he answers simply.
He could just recall where you live because you’re a part of the McCall pack and he needs a target. A second, calmer voice somewhere in the back of your head whispers that maybe, just maybe, it is because of you.
The walk back is quiet, but not terrible. You’re both thinking through a grave number of things. When you finally reach your house, Theo stops and faces you in front of the door. “Just–” he breaks off, then manages to finish it. “Think about it. If I were better, would you think about it?”
You let out a low breath. “Yes, Theo, I would.”
He almost smiles. “Goodbye, Y/N.”
“Goodbye, Theo,” you whisper back, and watch as he turns and leaves your house once more.
It will be a long time before you can trust him for sure. You have no doubt that he’s got something else up his sleeve. Theo Raeken doesn’t strike you as the kind to give up easily. But then again, that’s why you’re still thinking of him even after he disappears from sight. Maybe, just maybe, Theo will do good on what he asked of you. Maybe, if he was better, he would come back. Until then, you’ll watch, and you’ll wait, and perhaps one day, you’ll be able to say yes after all.

Locked in
Y/n and theo get locked in a cupboard. They hate each other, well they put it off that way. but when he finds out she’s scared of small spaces something changes. He can’t pretend anymore.
Pairing: theo raeken x you
Tumblr media
- series: teen wolf
- warnings: kissing, main character has a fear of small spaces
———
“Can I do it with someone else” Theo rolled his eyes, complaining lowly to Scott. But he just raised his brow at the boy. “I can here you dumb ass!” You hinted from the sofa with a screwed up face. Theo turned to you and gave you a fake smiled not caring.
“No, I think you guys have something to chat about” “we have…! -nothing to chat about” you stood up calming down when you realised who you were talking to…your alpha.
“Y/n your gonna have to deal with it” Scott shrugged gently. Liam pulled you away while everyone was leaving your house after the meeting. “what is it with you and Theo?” He questioned quietly. “I just- nothing I just…” “you just what” Liam repeated slowly.
“I just don’t need anymore complications in this life” “complications?” “I don’t trust him enough” you apply. In truth you didn’t trust him. But it was for a completely different reason. You thought he was hot- too hot there was something strange about the boy.
“Y/n hurry up!” Theo shouted walking out the door in a rush. “And he’s annoying” your eyes rolled with annoyance. You left Liam standing there confused and wanting to know more.
You run out in to the road to get to his car not looking where your going as you looked back at Liam standing alone. “Y/N” theo practically screamed. From out of no where you were knocked on the ground and he was on top of you. For a few seconds you hesitate, looking around at what happened seeing the shiny blue car pass you with full speed and pounding noise. Red started up in your face.
“What the hell are you doing walking out in to a road!” Theo uproariously unloaded staring down with his handsome face, it distracted you. “You literally could have been killed!” “Are you listening?!” His eyes fluttered from disbelief. “You can get off of me now” you calmly told him looking up at his face immediately close. Theo stuttered and muttered some words that didn’t make sense before climbing off your body.
He didn’t bother helping you up just trudged over to his car across the road. “I- thank you Theo” you whispered getting in the other side finally making it to the car. “yeah- what ever” “no seriously- I’m human I could have died” You state looking at him. Theo didn’t reply, he hit the gas and the car started moving. The car Journey to the school was awkward and silent, you moved your lips to say something but nothing came to mind.
The night was dark and looking out side was the only pass of time. “You- cold?” Theo wondered asking you softly for a change. “no your fine” you replied looking at him again while he was half hanging out the window. It was such a Theo thing. Everytime we were in the car his window was wide open and one hand was holding the roof. I don’t know what is was but it was just Theo’s thing.
“We’re here now anyway” theo nodded toward the entrance. Swiftly he parked up and you both got out. “What is it we need” theo asked you after breaking a window to get in. You watch as the glass noisily shattered across the floor next to your feet. “The triskelion that Derek hid in here” you told him climbing through with precautions. Theo put his hand out and hesitantly you took it, he pulled you through gently and let you jump down to him off the table.
Almost like a gentleman. “Thanks but i can really do it my self” you told him backing away feeling awkward that he was being nice for a change. What was with his mood swings. Theo’s face turned instantly and that was it for conversation until we reached a cupboard. “This one?” He quizzed not looking at you. “I don’t know do i- maybe”. Theo deeply inhaled bowing his head. “Alright maybe we do need to chat” he turned around starring you dead in the eyes.
“We do?” You questioned raising your eyebrow. “Yeah, I mean don’t you wanna sort this out” “do you?” “I wanna know why you don’t trust me- I mean I know my history isn’t- great… but I’ve done everything possible to prove my self to you” “a- and your pack obviously” “this could be happening while we’re looking I don’t need you to explain why you hate me…right now anyway” you pass the boy go to pull open the cupboard.
“Isn’t this what Scott wanted us to do?” He wondered before noticing It was locked. Theo discarded the conversation and pulled the handle once and broke the lock letting the door swung open. You check inside on tip toes from your position knowing you wouldn’t like it in there, after all it was quite small. You stepped in wearily checking the light but it wouldn’t turn on. So you resorted to your phone. You hear theo come in behind you and the space automatically gets smaller. Your chest starts to feel tight.
“You could try another cupboard” you stated in hope and out of disorientation. “are you okay? Your shaking y/n” “I’m fine!” You kind of shout but then a loud bang came from down the hall way. Theo looked out to see what it was just peeking but shot back in. “ berserkers” he whispered worriedly. “How many” “too many” he peered again while slowly closing the door.
“No theo don’t” you rush to the broken handle. “Are you crazy- you can’t go out there they will rip you to shreds” he hissed holding you back. Hands on you body like you’d never imagined, one on your hip and one on your back. Or maybe you had pictured it before. Focusing on that worked… for a couple of seconds “y/n what’s wrong!” Theo asked desperately demanding I tell him.
“I don’t- like small spaces” your eyes shut and head rested on his chest embarrassment flooded your cheeks. Flashbacks of being locked in a cupboard came back whipping your brain. “…Y/n listen to me, I don’t hate you- you frustrate me all the time but that’s because I won’t admit it- or maybe I frustrate my self with you”
“Admit what” you ask Turning away from him pacing and putting your hands through your hair breathing in and out. “Admit that I like you” he whispered in the corner not taking his gorgeous eyes off you for a split second. “What- I- i your just- why are you doing this now” “I’m distracting you with the truth” theo strode towards you “I’m distracting you” he repeated softly. His hands stroked your face and he gathered a grip.
His head dipped down towards you and the world did float away along with the pain of the room when your lips met. His hand softly cupped your face and ran through your silky hair when he pulled away. “Well I think I need more distracting” you told him smiling for the first time and not letting go of him. His hands pulled you up and your legs wrapped around his waist excitedly and your back hit the stone wall.
Your hands gripped his soft hair and you both were distracted… for a while. Eventually theo moved you both and you hit the stand with all the boxes making slight noise. “Something is poking me” you pull away for a second trying to grab it. Pulling it out eventually you held it up decoding what it was. “Huh” “what” theo whispered looking at you not the object.
“Found the Triskelion” you smiled bluntly. Theo dropped you on the floor carefully with smirking lips and tucking a bit of hair behind your ear then slowly marched over to the door. It wouldn’t open. “Theo please don’t say it” You started panicking again. The walls closed in. Your body slid down the pole as you sat on the cool yet dirty school floor.
“Y/n Im gonna get us out of here okay, just breath” “I can’t -breath” “you just have to focus- focus on one think like- like my voice” he suggested. “Then keep talking” you prompt. “You keep talking to me- you tell me why your scared of small spaces” theo asked.
“When I lived with my mom before social services took me to my fathers- she didn’t- want me around” “so she locked you up” theo breathed sadly with a roll of his eyes in disgust. “Yeah- all the time, I’ve always hated small spaces they just put me right where I started and I’ve grown yet they still make me feel weak and it wasn’t the fact that it was small it was the fact it was dark and quite it was lonely and small too, just like in here” you open your eyes to see the outside.
“Your not alone y/n” Theo whispered brushing your cheek.
The dark sky full of bright stars shining at the two of you. “theo I- how did we get here”. “I got you out- I told you I would” he smiled smally. Your head slammed against his chest with a hug out of instinct. “Thank you” you whispered tightly suffocating the man. “I wasn’t just distracting you in there- you know that” Theo bravely outed looking almost worried. “I…” “you don’t need to answer baby girl- just know” “but I know my answer” you tell him softly shaking your head. Theo looked confused but held your face anyway. Rubbing a rough thumb across it.
On your tip toes you kissed theo softly forming a smile. “that? Answer you question” you giggled holding his neck still. “It doesn’t answer mine!” Lydia shouted running over from a car that apparently spawned out of no where. Scott also got out grinning at you both. “Well well well- looks like my plan worked” he smirked stepping closer. “I knew you guys had it bad for each other”
You laid your head on his chest holding a shy guilty smile while theo threw an arm over you “looks like it did- we did” you answered shaking your shoulders. Holding up the object you came for Scott’s eyes lit up. “You found it!”
“And I found Theo’s better side- all because we were locked in that hell hole” you smiled looking up at him. Theo kissed you softly and mouthed “it wasn’t all bad”. You had to admit… he was right.

Picnic

I have a theory. What if people who hate Theo the most and constantly remind him of that are those who are scared of their darker side more than others, and who did bad things in the past too (unconsciously or not).
Like Stiles HATES Theo, so does Malia. He reminded them of what they did, and what they STILL can do. How easy it is to lean to this darkness they hold within and they DESPISE him for that. Because it’s not about broken trust, it’s about breaking some sort of reassurance within them that they’re good.
Mason doesn’t like him too, he reminds him about it so often, but he is also scared of Theo, not because he is human, but because he turned everyone in the pack inside out, and he, even though not really, did bad things as the Beast, and is scared of going back to THAT.
Maybe I’m wrong, and it’s only the fact that he broke the pack apart, but I don’t think so. Because not everyone hates Theo THAT much, and it needs to be something really personal.

Sneaking out of one’s house in the dead of night is already a difficult task. Factor in the fact that the adults in the building all have supernatural hearing, and getting caught seems impossible to avoid. The only factor in your favor is the fact that you absolutely refuse to give up. Derek Hale can do whatever he wants to try and rein you in, but there’s nothing he can do to stop you. Nothing at all.
Honestly, he should have seen this coming. It’s not like any of the Hales are known for their natural rule-abiding tendencies. When Derek was your age, he was crushing on girls and giving them the bite. He should just be happy that you’re not trying to turn anyone and let you do what you please.
That’s what you argue, at least. Derek sees things very differently. You know he’s just terrified to lose another family member after the fire burned your home to the ground, but times are changing. You know how to defend yourself, and you certainly won’t be going down without a fight, if you’ll ever go down at all.
Besides, you’re not looking to get into fights. Not tonight. In fact, you’re doing the exact opposite. You’re slipping out of your room not to seek out danger, nor track down hunters in the hopes of starting a fight. No, you’re practicing all this secrecy because you want to see your boyfriend, a certain Theo Raeken.
You didn’t count on Theo stealing your heart when he first arrived at Beacon Hills. True, his first few months were a little rocky, something about him trying to betray the McCall pack in the name of the Dread Doctors, but he’s come around since then. You didn’t even start thinking about him romantically until a few months after that, once you were sure that he wouldn’t try something bad like that again.
If you ask Theo, though, he’ll tell a story that’s a little different from yours. He once confessed that he started liking you from his very first day, which made it easier to switch sides once he was let out of Hell. Sometimes you wonder if he saw visions of you when he was trapped down there. You don’t think he’ll tell you for quite some time, though. Theo doesn’t like thinking about his time in Hell at all.
Neither do you. That’s why the two of you prefer to let the past stay in the past, and focus only on the future and what it holds. Theo isn’t an enemy to you, not anymore. Not to any of your friends.
That’s not what Derek seems to believe, however. No, Derek is convinced that Theo is nothing but bad news, fit only for betrayal and heartbreak. Every time he happens to see you and Theo together, you can hear his blood pressure skyrocketing and you know you’re in for a lecture once you get home. Despite the fact that Derek made plenty of worse choices in his life, such as dating a darach, you being with Theo is the worst thing your older brother has ever seen.
It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to you, but you’re not too hung up on it to let Derek’s lack of approval stop you. You don’t need your brother, you just need Theo. So, you take care to be extra quiet when you’re lifting the sash of the window and climbing down the fire escape into the cold night. Theo’s truck is idling two blocks over, just in case. He gets out to greet you like he always does.
Despite the fact that sneaking out of the Hale residence gets harder by the hour, and Derek’s wrath is strengthening by the day, it’s all worth it. All of it. The moment Theo’s arms are around you, you think you could take on the world. Maybe you’ll have to, it doesn’t really matter. You’ve got your boyfriend, he’s got you, and you’ve never been better.
Theo presses a kiss to your cheek before opening the passenger side door of his truck. “What do you say we get out of here?”
You laugh. “Sounds great to me.”
Theo smiles too, climbing back into the driver’s side and taking off into the night. You watch the streetlights speed past you, smears of off-white and buzzing gold against the dark air. Theo navigates his way out of the endless maze of suburbs and cul-de-sacs before you’re out in uncharted territory.
You and Theo have christened a spot on the outside of Beacon Hills as yours and yours alone. The Beacon Hills Preserve is in sight, but not all that close. Too many bad supernatural encounters in those woods have somewhat lessened your favor of them. Instead, Theo parks his car on the edge of a field, letting the tall grass and wildflowers brush against his cars. The sky is wide, open as far as the eye can see. It is absolutely perfect.
Theo grabs a blanket from the backseat and spreads it across the bed of his truck. He climbs in first, then holds out a hand to help you in. You lie down on your back so you can watch the stars, leaning against Theo. His hand traces gentle patterns on your arm, soft and soothing. The night is cool, making you curl closer against him. Overhead, the constellations wink and blink, promising stories that only you could ever dare to read.
You blink once and dawn is upon you. The sun is already climbing well into the sky, coloring clouds into rose and flaxen yellow. At first, you’re content to just lie there and marvel at how easy it was to fall asleep until it occurs to you that you weren’t supposed to do that at all.
One glance at the screen of your phone has you swearing under your breath. Theo is asleep by your side, and you frantically shake him awake. He’s slow to come to consciousness at first, but he’s active in seconds when you tell him what time it is. Both of you overslept by a lot, and you overshot the time you were supposed to make it back to your house by a couple of hours. Derek shouldn’t be up, not yet, but you wouldn’t put it past him to check your room. You’ve been known to sneak out in the past, and after the lecture you got last time, you really, really don’t want to be caught again.
Theo’s rushing the whole way back, relying on his supernatural senses to stay out of an accident. That, and the fact that no one is on the road at this hour of the morning. You imagine what a picture the two of you must make– most people just starting to wake up, the earliest risers starting their cars in their garages, while you and Theo are booking it down the road out of fear that your brother would figure out what you’ve done.
Theo brings his truck to a stop close to your house. He peppers apologies in between kisses, then urges you to hurry before it’s too late. You wave goodbye, then take the steps of the fire escape two at a time in your haste to get back inside. You raise your window and climb inside. You hear no sound anywhere else in the apartment, and you have just enough time to thank your lucky stars that you managed to get away with this when the lights flick on, revealing Derek waiting in the shadows.
It takes everything in you to bite back a startled scream. “Jeez, Derek, try not to give me a heart attack, will you?” You clutch a hand to your chest, trying to stop the accursed organ from jumping out of your chest.
Derek doesn’t look remotely sympathetic to your situation. “Why, so you can see that Raeken boy again? I know where you were.”
You wince. “You do.”
“I do,” Derek confirms, “and you’re lucky today’s a school day, or I’d be yelling at you here and now. As it is, you have to get ready or you’re going to miss the bus. Do that and I’ll be even more mad than I am now.”
“I didn’t know it was possible for you to be more mad,” you joke weakly.
“It’s not,” Derek says with a glare, and storms out into the hall.
You collapse to your bed, one hand rising to your head. You really hadn’t wanted Derek to find out, but of course he’d known all along. Derek’s a survivor, he has been all this time. That means he has the instincts of someone searching for all the clues you’re trying to keep hidden. You have the school day as a buffer, but after that, you’re totally done for.
Sure enough, Derek is waiting for you, arms folded across his chest, the moment you close the door behind you in the afternoon. Not only that, but Peter Hale is lounging on the couch, languidly flipping through the day’s newspaper.
You arch a brow at your uncle. “You brought Peter into this?”
Derek groans. “He’s a figure of authority. I thought you’d respect him if you can’t respect me.”
You grin. “Are you sure that was a good idea?”
Across the room, Peter chuckles. “Of course it was. There’s nothing Derek likes more than someone who gives him even more gray hairs than you.”
You and Derek turn to shout at the same time. “Shut up!”
Peter holds up his hands in mock surrender, still laughing under his breath.
Derek looks back at you, brow furrowed. “We’re not talking about Peter, we’re talking about you. You snuck out of this apartment for the fifth time this month. I’ve told you to stay away from Theo, but you were with him. Want to explain yourself?”
“We’re dating,” you say as casually as you can.
Derek pinches the bridge of his nose. “Why? The guy tried to kill Scott and he’s probably angling to kill you. I’m not telling you all this just because I like hearing the sound of my own voice, you know. I’m trying to keep you alive.”
You scoff. “Yeah, because you’ve got a great history with your girlfriends. Weren’t you dating Kate Argent? You know, the one who burned our house down?”
Peter takes this as his sign to add his two cents. “She’s not wrong, you know.”
Derek repeats his sentiment for Peter to shut up at the same time as you encourage your uncle to keep talking. This earns you a swat to the shoulder, and your older brother picks up his lecture again.
“I’m not the one who’s being reprimanded, Y/N, that would be you. I’m serious, you have to stay away from Theo. He’s no good for you.”
“How would you know?” You counter, “all you ever do is try to be as overprotective as you can. I mean, have you ever considered the possibility that I know what I’m doing?”
Derek exhales slowly. “I know you’re capable, but you never know. I’m just trying to keep you safe, is that really so bad?”
You give him a steady look. “When you’re being this overinvolved in my life, yes it is.”
Derek opens his mouth to argue with that, but he’s interrupted by a knock at the door. He tilts his head to the side for a second, listening for heartbeats, then mutters something under his breath about Scott McCall always needing something at the worst possible time.
You interpret that as your chance to escape, so you do so with great excitement. Derek shouts that this isn’t over as you go, but you’re fairly sure it is.
As you hurry past, Peter calls after you. “The back door is still unlocked, by the way. Derek will be busy for the next half hour or so.”
You grin. “Have I ever mentioned that you’re my favorite Hale?”
“Be sure to bring that up the next time I kill someone,” Peter grumbles, “I could use someone on my side for once.”
It’s hard to control your laugh as you head towards the back exit of the apartment. You text Theo on your way out, and soon enough you’re in his truck once again, speeding away from Derek and his suffocating tendencies as quickly as you can.
Theo shoots you a nervous look as he eases to a stop at a red light. “You’re sure everything is alright? I mean, Derek’s wrath is legendary.”
You shake your head. “We’ll be fine. Derek will stomp around for another day or so, but he doesn’t have it in him to hold grudges for long.”
Theo smiles. “As long as you’re sure about it. I don’t want to get in between you and your brother.”
“You won’t,” you assure him, “we’ve had bigger fights over much less, trust me.”
Theo assures you that he does, and you let the road disappear behind you along with your troubles. As you drive, though, your uneasiness doesn’t dissipate as quickly as usual.
A few minutes later, you think something is wrong. Glancing back, you whisper something to Theo. “Is it just me, or has that car been following us for a while?”
Theo checks his rearview mirror, then curses. “No, you’re right. That’s a hunter, I recognize the license plate. Hold tight, I’ll try to lose him.”
Theo takes a few sporadic turns, but even his best attempts can’t shake the guy. What’s more, cars appear out of the surrounding streets, slowly but surely forcing Theo to head towards the Preserve and out of sight of any passersby. The hunters stop near the mouth of the woods, and Theo has to park as well lest he risk getting in a crash.
The two of you watch the hunters emerge from their cars, weapons in hand. “Stay in the truck,” Theo tells you, “I’ll take care of this.”
“Not a chance,” you argue, “there are too many of them, we’re doing this together.”
Theo looks like he wants to argue, but you’re already reaching for the door and stepping outside. The hunters issue out the usual threats about wanting to run all supernaturals out of town and whatnot. Thankfully, they aren’t a patient bunch, and so you’re able to skip to the fight before too long.
This isn’t your first bad encounter with the hunters of Beacon Hills, nor will it be the last. You extend your claws, letting your eyes glow. Supernatural strength courses over you and you charge. Despite the fact that the two of you are crazily outnumbered, you and Theo have one thing that the hunters don’t:  an absolute unwillingness to lose.
That’s what you think about when enemy blood is shed, when you snap knives and break guns and refuse to let your fear get the best of you. That’s what you think about when the number of hunters starts to dwindle, when they choose to run into the woods or drive away rather than join their friends in agony on the ground.
That’s why you win, you think. At last, you straighten up and look at Theo. Both of you are alive, and the remaining hunters are fleeing as quickly as they can. You start to smile, but before you can say too much, another voice encapsulates your thoughts.
“That way went better than I expected.”
You whip around to see Derek emerging from his car a few paces away, blinking in surprise. He gestures between the hunters on the ground and you and Theo. “You know, I came all this way to save your asses, but it looks like you’ve already done that.”
“Maybe it’s because I can trust Theo to keep me alive.” You say pointedly.
Derek stares at you a second longer, then sighs and gives in. “Fine, fine. The two of you can keep on seeing each other. Just don’t make that sneaking out stuff a habit.”
You wait until Derek gets back in his car and drives away before daring to look at Theo. Silently, he raises his arms in victory, making you laugh. Maybe Derek isn’t completely beyond reasoning. And maybe, just maybe, you can have both your boyfriend and your brother on your side. Impossibilities were made to be disproven.

The back of the bus
Pairing- Theo raeken
Series- tw (teen wolf)
Summary- You and Theo have the back of the bus all to your selfs (considering he kicked everyone off the seats). What mischief could you possibly get up to considering your strictly friends. For now ;).
Warnings- probably swearing, kissing, talks about a wound, talks about death.
————————————————————————
I stood at the back of Theo, Scott and stiles. Scott and stiles sat on the last two free seats together. I didn’t blame them, Scott needed to sit down he was still injured.
A bunch of nerds sat at the back of the bus and I knew exactly what was about to happen because Theo eyed them up like his lunch. He had asked to sit next to me before and I had a feeling he was going to make sure it happen. While he headed toward the boys at the back, just as I suspected, I stopped in my tracks not wanting to be involved.
“Get up” Theo ordered at them, his face was serious and he was practically snarling. “what- why should we? we saved these seats we got up early!” “Get -up” he repeated and he wasn’t too happy he had to, frowning bending closer to one of there faces. His tone had changed now.
“…Yep okay” the boy who spoke earlier gave up from fear of Theo, his eyes looked as if he was about to cry. The four boys jumped up scattering around the bus for seats. Theo popped down looking smug while slumping in the chair, elbow on his leg giving me a dangerous smiled knowing he was the biggest and the baddest.
“Come on then love” he winked nodding down to his lap seeing me frozen in my space. “Considering you’ve conquered the whole back row, there are spare seats I don’t need to use you” I walked over, quietly sorting out my stuff sitting two seats down from him.
“yeah but I’m more comfortable than coach seats, I just want you to be comfy” he rolled his head over to my side looking playful. “And we do have a long really long ride” he shrugged chewing his gum pressing harder to convince me.
“Oh you really do make a good point” you whispered pretending he won for a second. but really you were just not able to resist him anymore. Your legs went either side of his lap and sat down the opposite way he expected you to while holding his face. “can’t believe you got me in to this- I hate busses”
“Well good because this is a coach” Theo chuckled latching his hands on my waist. “Don’t try and be smart with me” I giggled shaking my head. “Well if you’d stop complaining and gave it ago for a moment you might enjoy the journey, I can be quite entertaining” he wiggled his eyebrows making me slightly giggle. “Well I’ll need proof of that” “that you will have babe” he tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear.
Words couldn’t really describe what you and Theo were, but you went along with anyway. Even though it then allowed you to catch feelings.
“Alright love birds we get it” stiles plopped next to us sticking his face closely in the middle. “stiles- can you leave?” Theo turned around half pissed off. “Theo” you hit his chest gently but he just grabbed your hand before turning back to stiles, “I just wanna say- Scott isn’t looking too good can we all keep an eye on him” “yeah of course” you nodded sympathetically.
“His alpha wound?” You questioned quietly, stiles nodded slightly looking downwards. “it’s not healing” “it will take longer” theo explained like stiles was dumb. “yeah smart one we know” stiles raised his eyebrow not taking any of Theo’s smart comments. “And he’s worried about Derek- we all are” you sighed reaching for Theo’s hair playing with it and hugging his head for comfort. “There’s no way he’s dead- so where is he” you try and reassure yourself. “Y/n- he could be dead” theo swallowed looking into your eyes. “He’s not! Plus who would take a dead body” you winced not liking the two pairs of eyes on you.
“yeah I know, just think positive huh” theo nodded at you rubbing your back after a moment of silence. “I have to think positive- I can’t deal with all the negative we go through” I explained to them. Stiles rubbed the top of my hand and Theo clearly got jealous.
“Can I go back to kissing my girlfriend now”, Theo asked with a loud sigh and confession while shooing him away. “what?” You stuttered pulling away and turning to him saying it at the same time as stiles. “ah- I see what happened… I just- called you my girlfriend didn’t I” “and… I’m not complaining am I?” You blinked staring at his eyes with a bright smile. “Really?” He whispered rubbing my cheek with his thumb. “can you just be careful with him- please” stiles said to me.
“I’m right here” theo pushed him out the way wrapping his arms around my waist tightly. “Stiles I trust him- if you don’t can you keep it to your self” I asked him lowly feeling slightly uncomfortable with how honest he was being.
“but y/n I just want wha- wait why are Lydia and Allison following us?” “Allison is here?” Scott turned around, automatically regretting doing it too fast, he winced out loudly. “Scott take it easy” theo looked over at him “I’m fine, really” he nodded at us holding his wound. “Congratulations is in order then?” Scott smirked at us two. Theo turned a bit red looking down, I giggled at how cute he was. “is this new for you?”
“A bit- yeah” he awkwardly started to play with my fingers. “theo we don’t- have to label it” “no- no I want to- I want you to be officially be my girl and only mine” he cupped my face , his cool rings rubbed against my skin as he smiled but with a serious expression.
“really?- your sure” “never been more sure princess”. Slowly theo leant in to kiss me. I guess we had kissed before but not like this and not sober either. It was nice being this genuinely intimate with him. I trusted theo and I really liked him. “So what’s the real plan for this trip or…” “a lot of this” he kissed you again quickly on the lips “and a lot of this” theo said rummaging in his bag, getting out a packet of crisps.
“Eating and kissing, not at the same time I hope” “and a lot of you learning from my humour- that was the worst dad joke I’ve ever heard” Theo chuckled at me shaking his head. “Shut it you” I joined in… I guess busses weren’t that bad. Or coach’s. Whatever.
