It was 12:30 am 1/1/23

I was in the large stall with five of my friends in the girls’ restroom

5 vodka cranberry’s deep

We took turns laughing and peeing and dropping phones in the toilet and drinks on the ground

I started my period

I didn’t have a tampon

None of my friends did either

I called out to the packed bar restroom

Five women handed a tampon through the stall door

It was 2 am 1/1/23

The lights came on at the bar

I stood with my cousin and my friends as the bartenders began ushering people away

I was drunk (still fkn am tbh) and people watching

About five yards away I noted a man kissing on a crying woman

She looked like she was saying no no no no and kept pushing him away

She did not want his hands on her

I took my cousin and went up to her

“Hey girl! I haven’t seen you in forever! How have you been?” I hugged her neck and asked if she was okay

She fucking melted into my arms and started crying saying “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

The dude made himself scarce.

My cousin asked if she was okay. I asked if we needed to get her an uber. She said she was there with friends and we waited until a girl wrapped her arms around the girl and thanked us for finding her.

The guy tried coming back around and I told him to fuck off out of there.

He left.

The girl is safe.

It is currently 4:30 am 1/1/23

Please have each other’s backs out there. We’re only as strong as each other.

I’m drunk while reckoning in the New Year but I’m safe at home in bed because of my friends.

My debit card might be lost downtown but the uber driver helped me freeze my account while I cried on the way home.

We are who must look out for those in need.

2017 vld was the peak experience. No one knew shit. Everyone loved everything. No one vehemently hated where the show was going… yet. I really do miss us all just losing our collective mind over some teens and their space robot cats.
