Smiles with a Christmas Kiss
Merry Christmas @professorerudite
Summary: Dean and Cas are left behind in the bunker on Christmas Eve. A regular movie day is planned but it slowly becomes a lot more.
It’s Christmas Eve and the bunker was quiet. It was just him and his best friend in this big place, their footsteps echoed the halls like no other time before. When it was just him and Sam the place always felt okay. It was home and it was nice but with Cas - finally human and finally staying - the place felt warm. It was a damn home again.
Jack followed Sam and Eileen on a holiday trip to Ireland. Of course, Dean had to refuse. Thinking of the long plane ride alone was making him feel sick. Though he insisted Cas should tag along with them - go see the world and all that jazz - he didn’t budge. Insisting he just wants to stay in the bunker.
Dean didn’t argue. It was nice not to be alone during the holiday season but at the same time, he hoped Cas didn’t stay behind just for him. Dean would have done what he always did for Christmas. Go to a bar full of lonely people and find someone, or someone’s, to have some fun holiday party on a motel bed.
Well, that’s what he would like to think he would have done, heck maybe a long time ago he would have done just that, but now it’s different. He hasn’t gone to a bar looking to hook up with anyone in years and he wasn’t going to start now. After throwing excuse after excuse at himself about why his libido just went into a downward spiral, fighting God and all that shit really wasn’t a good excuse for him apparently, it all came down to one angel. Well, person now.
“Good morning, Dean.” Cas walked into the kitchen, dragging his bunny slippers across the cold floor and towards the coffee machine.
Dean watched as Cas poured himself a big mug full and then sat across from him on the kitchen table to join him. Dean already had the sugar and creamer on the table, prepared for Cas who always gets up a few minutes after him.
As soon as he took a sip he smiled into his mug and Dean rested his chin on the palm of his hand as he watched. Enjoying the way Cas’s eyes crinkle at the side when he smiled with his eyes closed. He even shivered just a little as the hot drink ran down his body, holding the hot mug in between both his hands and close to his face.
“Morning, Sunshine.” Dean finally tells him as Cas placed his mug down on the table to smile back at him.
He could live like this for the rest of his life. As much as Dean wanted more, he was okay with this. Having Cas like this. Seeing him like this. Shaggy hair that curls up at the tips and stubble that was already too long but must feel so good against Dean’s skin. Cas’s baggy sweatpants that fall too low on his hips and Dean’s old band tees that were exclusively worn for sleep cling to his muscled frame.
Cas was just art that he could enjoy looking at but not touch. At least not the way he dreams to touch.
A happy sigh escapes Cas’s lips as he rolls his shoulders back and reaches for the untouched toast on Dean’s plate. “Merry Christmas Eve by the way.” He took a bite of the toast with butter and then made a face before he reached for the jam. Sweet tooth. He took another bite before he started talking with his mouth full. “I know you don’t celebrate but I still hope we can watch that movie you wanted to show me.”
Dean hummed in response as he sat up straighter, reaching for his coffee to have his hands do something. “We can do that.”
“Which reminds me we also need to go grocery shopping. We’re running low on supplies.”
“Cookies?”
“Exactly.” Cas winked at him.
Dean laughed and it always felt like he was floating when it was Cas who made him laugh. Yeah, he can live like this. If he can have these mornings everyday then he can live with Cas as his friend.
Grocery shopping took a while even though the place was mostly empty. Dean had a list and Cas kept ignoring it to add random junk he wanted to taste. Some of the stuff Dean hasn’t even tasted himself, “Then we can experience it together.” Was all Cas said and Dean couldn’t argue with him on that.
“What do people do on Christmas Eve?” Cas asked when they walked back to the car to load the groceries. “That child looked at us with pity when we told him we didn’t have any plans for today.”
“Dude, how am I supposed to know?”
“You know more than me.”
“The last real Christmas I had - I was three, Cas.” Dean opened the trunk of the Impala to start stuffing the bags. “Plus, I’m pretty sure that I imagine all those happy memories I had with my Mom and Dad.”
“I’m sure some were real, Dean.” Cas placed the last of the bags in the trunk as he looked at him with a small smile. Pity smile. “You’re Mother loved you so I’m sure she would have done her best to give you-”
“Cas,” Dean sighed as he closed the trunk with a loud thud. “I just want to watch some movies and sit on the couch with you and a tray full of nachos. I don’t want to psychoanalyze my childhood.”
“Ah.” Cas nodded, another smile. This one was softer and warmer. A smile that felt reserved for just Dean. Cas’s cheeks were even rosy from the cold wind piercing through their many layers. “Understood. I’ll take the cart back and you start the car then.”
Dean watched Cas walk away, scratching the back of his head when he saw him walk back into the grocery store. He was going to go after him but decided to do what he was told and just start the car. Maybe they needed a quick getaway.
Cas returned a few moments later with nothing in his hands.
“Dude, what the hell?”
Cas just shrugged and put his hands up to the heater. “Thank you for waiting for me.”
That was the only response he knew he was going to get from his angel - oh wow! Not his. Not even a damn angel anymore.
Dean drove them home while Cas turned on the radio. Tapping his fingers on his knee to the beat of the music. Dean wondered how Cas would react if he just reached over and twined their hands together but instead he gripped the steering wheel tighter.
It was already late when Dean called Cas over to watch the movie. He was going to go with Die Hard, his childhood Christmas movie he watched with Dad, but Dean had a feeling that Cas wanted a movie where it was actually about Christmas. So he picked his other childhood Christmas movie. A Christmas Story.
Cas walked in, his blanket already in tow, and took a seat on one end of the couch. Dean sat on the other with the nachos tray right in between them. Cas sat with his legs crossed and tucked into a corner, almost facing Dean, while he reached into the food before the movie even began to play.
“So you watched this as a kid?” Cas said, mouth full and head tilted as Dean settled on his side of the couch.
“Yup.” Was all Dean said as he handed Cas a beer and pressed play.
It was only the first few minutes when Ralph walked in with a full cowboy getup that Cas laughed and when he met Dean’s curious eyes, enjoying every second of that rare laugh. Cas pointed at Ralph and then him. “Dean that’s you.” He laughed harder as soon as the words left his mouth and Dean hit him with a pillow.
The nachos were moved to the table in front of them, where Dean had his feet propped up.
Cas continued to make little comments as the movie went on.
“Ah, reminds me of that whoopee cushion prank you did on me.” Cas noted as he took a sip of beer.
“All of that for a damn tongue on a pole?” Cas sounded so annoyed that Dean spits out his beer laughing.
They somehow moved closer on the couch with every little comment Cas made. From the mention of yellow eyes. To ask what was put in Ralph’s mouth after he said fudge. (“Dude he said fuck.” “So? You say it all the time.” “I’m a grown man.” “Oh. Children can’t say it?”)
As soon as Ralph said son of a bitch Cas was somehow already shoulder to shoulder with Dean. He laughed, his shoulders shaking, before turning to look at Dean with that big smile again. Dean never thought anybody could look as beautiful as Cas did when he grinned at him like that.
“Dean, I told you that’s you.” He smiled and Dean didn’t have it in him to argue, even as a joke. Instead, he nodded, smiling back at Cas, while his grinch heart grew three sizes.
This was supposed to be a safe nonromantic movie but Dean hasn’t watched it in a while. He forgot the ending when the parents sat in the dark, just like they were in now, and enjoyed the snow falling. With only the Christmas lights shining.
A few years ago he wouldn’t have thought it was romantic - there was no kissing or grunting in this scene what so ever- but the soft touches is what he craves now. He was already so close to Cas as it is. Feeling the warmth radiate off his best friend while his blanket was now over both their laps, he doesn’t even remember when that happened.
He was already so close. Dean could turn his head and his nose could be buried in Cas’s hair, the smell of nature still follows Cas around, and he could hold him. Hold him like he has always wanted to hold Cas, with no immediate danger or death hanging over them. He just wanted to hold Cas because he wanted to hold him. No reason.
Cas leaned into him a little more, untucking his feet from underneath him so he could lay them flat on the ground. Dean noticed every fidget of Cas’s fingers and he wondered if Cas was uncomfortable with the closeness but then in a sudden move Cas had an arm around Dean’s shoulders. Cas cleared his throat as he squeezed Dean’s shoulder closer to him - trying to act like this was a normal thing for them- while Dean stared at him with wide eyes.
Dean couldn’t find the words. He wanted to say some dumb joke or push Cas off but he stopped himself. Instead, he relaxed under the touch and leaned into it.
“Oh, um, the movie ended.” Cas cleared his throat while he started to pull his hand away.
“I’ll, um, I’ll just - let me pick another one.” Dean reached for the remote and picked a random movie in the Christmas category and pressed play. Then he leaned back into the couch again and Cas’s arm was around him again.
Dean doesn’t remember how many movies they watched that night or how he ended up falling asleep on a couch too small to hold two grown men. But he didn’t care because now he had Cas’s fingers making small circles on his back and the touch was so gentle.
“Merry Christmas, Dean.” Cas must have known he woke up.
So Dean folded his arms over Cas’s chest and looked down at him. He could feel the dumb smile on his mouth. “Merry Christmas, Cas.”
“I know it’s customary to give gifts now.” Cas started reaching for something on the floor while Dean opened his mouth to argue but Cas looked at him with those just-shut-up-Dean raised eyebrows so he listened. “It’s something small I got at the grocery store so I’m sorry it’s not something you may want but I believe you deserve a Christmas gift, Dean.”
They both sat up when Cas pulled out a small shiny gift bag with a Christmas tree right out front. Dean wondered when Cas even had time to get this or sneak it in as he sat crisscross back on the couch while Cas copied him. Handing over the present with a wry smile.
“I didn’t even get you anything, Cas.” Dean started saying, hesitant to get the present.
Cas shrugged. “You can make it up to me later. Now take it.”
Dean took it and it didn’t even have tissue paper to hide what was inside. Dean laughed as he pulled out a few Reese’s shaped like a Christmas tree, some DVD of a movie he hasn’t even heard of so it must be new, and a gift card for Dominos pizza.
“These are great, Cas.” Dean laughed looking down at his gifts. “Looks like you already planned our next date night.”
“I did?” Cas looked down at his presents before looking back at Dean with wide eyes. “Date night?”
“I mean, only if you want to-”
“I want to!” Cas quickly leaned into Dean’s space again and he probably didn’t mean to lean in so close but Dean was also not thinking as he met him halfway to press their lips together. It was just a quick kiss before they pulled apart.
Dean didn’t say anything as they sat back on their seats. Staring at anything but each other.
Cas cleared his throat. “Was that my Christmas gift?”
Dean chuckled. “Yeah, I’m cheap.”
“Can I have another gift then?” Cas asked, leaning his head down so he could catch Dean’s downward gaze. He was blushing -fuck he was blushing- as he smiled at him again and Dean was taken back to that morning. Where he thought that he could live with just having that smile in his life but now he knows how that smile felt against his own.
Dean only nodded once before Cas fell back into him. Their lips smashing together into a grinning kiss, teeth smacking together, as Dean wrapped his arms around Cas’s waist to pull him closer. Then he pulled away just enough to kiss Cas again, slowly as he took everything in. Cas’s weight on his lap. Cas’s fingers on his face while he held the back of his neck. The soft noises Cas kept making at the back of his throat as they moved against each other that was making Dean crazy.
He can have this. Can have Cas and it was a damn Christmas miracle that Cas was dumb enough to want Dean the same way. And fuck his stubble did feel great against his skin.
“Merry Christmas, Cas.” Dean said when they pulled apart to breathe, their foreheads touching.
Cas grinned, a small laugh shook his body and Dean felt every shake that was in his arms. “Merry Christmas, Dean.”
Thanks @destielsecretsanta2020 for this fun project!

Cas is drunk
"Just...one kiss. How do you know you don't like boys if you haven't kissed one?"
"I just do."
"Come on." Cas walked in between Dean's legs, a dumb smile on his lips. "Just one kiss."
"Dude, we said no kissing. One of the first rules I gave you when you came out to me."
"Rules are meant to be broken. We break them all the time!"
Cas reached over to cradle Dean's head. Watching him with a soft look as his fingertips touched him so gently. Nothing like the way he has been touched before but that's what Cas does. He knows him the way nobody ever tried to know him. But he's only his best friend.
"Cas-"
"Shhh," Cas tells him, his eyes brows knitting together as his eyes are locked on his lips. A thumb softly brushed his lower lip before Cas started to lean in. "One kiss."
Dean didn't move. Didn't stop him. Cas kissed him once. Twice. Three times and Dean wasn't sure if he was kissing him back but he forced his arms to stay on his side.
"Anything?" Cas asked when he finally did pull away. A faraway look on his eyes with a blush from the kiss or the alcohol he didn't know.
"Nope."
"Well, at least we got one thing from it."
"What?"
"I got to kiss the boy I'm in love with."
"Whatever, dude." Dean gently shoved him away as Cas laughed before ordering another beer for both of them.
It took three weeks for Dean to finally forget the tingle of the kiss on his lips.
-
He knocked at Cas's door
"Dean."
"Hey, Cas."
"Finally done ignoring me."
"I wasn't...You didn't call me either."
"It's called giving someone space."
"Well, that's what I was doing."
"Oh, so you weren't off in a gay panic?"
"Screw you, Cas."
"I'm sorry." He laughed. "You're still my best friend then?"
"Yeah."
"Still my person?"
Dean rolls his eyes as he stuffs his hands in his front pants pockets. "Yeah. Whatever."
"Do you wanna go out?"
Dean looked up at him. Eyebrows raised. "Like a date?"
"No, I meant just as we usually hang out but if you wanna see it as a first date-"
"Fuck you, dude."
"I mean I'm not stopping you."
They don't talk about the kiss.
Cas talks about another guy from work and Dean is happy for his best friend.
-
"Oh, I made out with Meg last weekend-"
"What? I thought you said you only liked guys?"
"Bisexual. I like everyone, dumbass."
"Then why are you obsessed with me."
"Cause while I like everyone I only love you."
"Oh." He paused. "Why do I feel like you're always teasing me."
"Cause you're dumb and easy to tease."
"Then why do you like me so much?"
"Same reason. Plus you're cute."
"Why do I put up with you?"
"Cause I'm cute."
They both laugh.
-
Dean never likes anyone Cas talks about. He doesn't know why.
"Why are you angry?"
"I'm not!"
"Is it cause I talk about Benny too much?"
"No! Why would I care about that asshole?"
"He's not an asshole! He's nice and he likes me."
"I don't want to hear that, Cas."
"Why not?"
"So what? Are you over me or whatever?"
Cas blinks at him a couple of times before his jaw sets. "No. Stupidly enough I still love you."
Dean doesn't understand the relief that floods him.
"You know what's really annoying, Dean?" Dean doesn't answer as Cas gets too close to his face. "It's that whenever I kiss anybody - anybody at all! - I can only think of you! Do you know how frustrating that is?"
Dean doesn't answer.
"If you can't be my best friend and be happy for me then I'm leaving."
Dean doesn't stop him.
-
Dean gets angrier as the days pass without Cas.
"What the hell is your problem?" Charlie yelled at him as Dean punched his bathroom mirror without thinking. He was sitting at the kitchen table with her bandaging him up. "You've been so mad lately, dude. It's scary now."
"I'm...I'm sorry. I-I don't know why."
Charlie sighed and the anger in her eyes turned to pity. "You know why, Dean. You gotta accept it now."
"What are you talking about."
"Cas."
"What about him?"
"You love him."
"No. I mean...I do but we're just-"
"No, Dean. No. You love Cas." Dean just looked at her and stared at her lips as she said, "You're in love with him."
"Why are you saying that?"
"Cause it's true."
Dean shakes his head but feels Charlie reaching over to wipe away tears from his cheek. He cries. He cried and she held him.
-
It takes a few days but Dean is standing at Cas's door again.
"Dean."
"Hey, Cas."
Cas doesn't look like he was gonna say anything else so Dean continued.
"Can we talk?"
"If you're done being an asshole."
"I'm done."
"Good." Cas stepped aside to let Dean into his apartment. "Do you remember when we kissed?"
"I thought you said you're done being an asshole."
"Just answer me."
"Fine. Yes."
"I told you I felt nothing from it?"
Cas rolls his eyes and crosses his arms over his chest. "I remember."
"Well, I lied."
Cas's arms squeezed closer to him as he stared back at him, confused with narrowed eyes. "What do you mean?"
"I lied." Dean stepped closer to him. Cas's eyes widened as he looked him up and down. Probably trying to figure out if he was drunk. "I lied to you, Cas."
"Dean?"
"I felt something. I haven't stopped feeling it. And I think...I think I'm okay with feeling it." Dean was now standing in Cas's personal space. "Can I ask you to kiss me again?"
Cas shook his head. "No. No, I want you to kiss me."
So Dean kissed him. Kissed him again and again. Holding him and finally letting himself accept the love Cas has been offering. Finally being able to love Cas back the way he deserved.

Practice Makes Perfect
[AO3]
They were standing in the middle of Dean's room, staring at each other with pink cheeks while trying not to make eye contact. Cas had come over in a panic because some girl named April has asked him on a date tonight. They were both 17 but haven't really gotten around to having their first kiss yet, no matter what everyone at school has been saying about Dean being a player. So Dean responded the way any best friend should.
“What do I do with my hands?”
“I don’t know just… just hold me I guess.”
“Oh. Okay.”
“Dude, not there! I meant wrap them around like this.”
“Oh… okay.”
Now they were real close and the nervousness they felt in the beginning spiked.
“Okay, how about let’s just touch our lips together. You know just to get it-ow!”
Cas had pressed his lips a little too hard against Dean’s own and their teeth knocked together.
“Oops.”
“Maybe a little slower this time?”
Cas nods slowly. “Sorry… I’m just nervous.”
“It’s okay, buddy, that’s why we’re practicing.”
Cas nods once again as he looks down at Dean’s lips.
Dean doesn’t know what the fuck he was doing either, he just watched a lot of movies, but he reaches up to hold Cas’s face in between his hands and looks down at Cas’s lips as he asks, “Ready?”
Cas gulps but closes his eyes. Dean was trying hard to fight back a grin as he watched Cas pucker his lips, instead, he closed his eyes and slowly went in for the kiss. He feels Cas jump just a little as if he was gonna push away but then he holds Dean’s hips a little tighter.
“Relax, Cas,” Dean tells him as he can feel his lips were in a hard pucker.
Cas opened his mouth just slightly as he let out a small breath and Dean shivered as he felt the hot air tickle his lips. Then Cas pressed his lips back on Dean’s and damn, these lips that were softer and Dean could feel how hot they were as they pressed against his.
“I believe there should be more moving,” Cas tells him in his matter-of-fact tone but his usual gravelly voice came out a little more shaky and low.
It was Dean’s turn to just nod as he started to slowly move his lips. Cas was trying to follow but they couldn’t sync up just yet, Cas was going too fast while Dean was going nice and slow, but more importantly, it’s because they were both nervous as hell.
Cas pulls back just enough to look at Dean and, wow, he liked the way Cas’s blue eyes that usually looked like a clear summer sky now looked like a summer thunderstorm, electrifying and wild.
“Dean,” Cas breathed out his name. “I wanna lead.”
Dean was surprised by his words but he agrees. The whole point of this was so Cas could feel comfortable kissing his date so he should be leading. That made sense.
“Okay, Cas.”
Cas pulls Dean’s hips closer to his own and it made Dean stumble a little but now his arms were on Cas shoulders as he holds himself up.
Cas reaches to gently press his hand on Dean’s cheek, cradling his head, before he closes his eyes and goes in to kiss Dean one more time. This time tilting Dean’s head just a little so their noses don’t bump as much and their lips just locked perfectly. Dean could feel himself melt into Cas as he wrapped one arm around Dean’s waist and the other rested on Dean’s cheek.
Dean didn’t even notice when his fingers were playing with Cas hair, gently tugging at it, until Cas made a noise, opening his mouth to let Dean feel his hot breath again.
Dean opened his mouth as he let out a small whine of his own as they both wanted more but couldn’t figure out how to go about it.
“Tongue.” Dean almost growled and Cas didn't hesitate, his tongue was now in Dean’s mouth. Dean felt like he was about to lose all feeling in his legs as his heart raced faster than it ever had before.
His mind was just filled with all things Cas. His hot tongue, his fucking hands gripping at him, his thumb making small circles on the top of his cheek, and fuck his lips were just so damn soft. He really wished he suggested practicing a lot earlier because he could have been kissing Cas this whole time. Did he always smell like citrus or is that his shampoo?
Cas pulled away too soon for Dean’s liking and blinked a few times as if he was trying to find his focus but Dean already missed Cas warmth in his arms.
“How… how was that?” Cas asked as he cleared his throat.
Dean didn’t have anything to compare it too but fuck, “It was good.”
Damn, did his voice just squeak?
Cas chuckled and did Cas always look this good? This cute? His face was flushed and his lips, fuck those lips, they were so pink and full.
“Do you want to… Do you want to practice again?” Cas asked and Dean blinked away from Cas lips. His fingers glided over his lips as they started to tingle as if calling for Cas. He noticed that Cas' eyes were locked on his lips and he was nonapologetic or embarrassed when Dean caught him.
Dean swallowed nervously because he shouldn’t want to kiss his best friend again. This was just to practice. This wasn’t because of want or need. No. This was to practice.
“Yeah. Maybe we need more practice.”
Cas didn’t need to be told twice as he took Dean back in his arms and fuck he liked it. Their noses bumped a few times as this kiss felt more urgent and their teeth clinked together until they finally got the hang of it.
Cas walked Dean backward until the back of Dean’s knees hit the edge of the bed and he fell back, taking Cas with him.
“Oh, shit, sorry Dean.” Cas pulls back but Dean only holds on to him.
“We can practice making out?” Dean suggested as his breathing hitched because Cas was looking at him with so much intensity. “You know just in case you guys make out in the car or whatever.”
Cas nods as he starts to lean down to kiss Dean again. “You’re right we should be prepared.”
“Mmmmm.” Dean hummed as he stretches his neck to capture Cas lips again and fuck he just wanted to keep kissing him forever. He didn’t want someone else to feel these lips. He didn’t want anybody to hear Cas little whimper as Dean nibbled on Cas’s lower lip before he went to taste Cas mouth, it was so sweet like an apple jolly rancher
He didn’t want Cas to hold anyone else the way he was touching Dean, his hand awkwardly roaming Dean’s chest and side, it tickled and it made Dean smile and squirm. Dean especially didn’t want anybody else to run his fingers through Cas dark brown fluff of hair, he wants to be the reason why Cas looked like he just got some.
When Cas pulled away again, somehow his shirt was pulled up his chest and you could see Dean’s grip marks on Cas’s muscled back, he was breathless as he said, “I have a date soon.”
Dean didn’t even hesitate as he said, “Cancel it.”
Cas blinked at him, his mouth gaped open before he composed himself and a small smile played on his lips. He nods once before he whispered, “Okay.”
“Cool.” Dean smiled back as he pulled Cas back down to him, his fingers playing in Cas hair again. “Come here.”

Nice Shirt
[AO3]
"Dean," Dean doesn't look up as he hears Cas call out to him.
"Oh good, Cas you're here. I need help finding-" Dean stops dead on his tracks as he looks at Cas confused. "Dude, what the hell you wearing?"
Cas looked down at his clothes and opened his trench coat more to show Dean the dark green flower-patterned button-down shirt he was wearing underneath.
"Jack gifted me the shirt." Cas shrugged and then walked to stand by Dean to look down at the map. "Now where do you believe the nest is?"
Dean shook his head, "What? I've known you for how long? And I've never seen you wear anything but monochromatic but now you're sporting flowers?"
"Dean, the vamp nest. Hostages."
"Yeah. Yeah. So if I bought you clothes you would just wear them?"
Cas rolled his eyes and sighs, "Most likely."
"Wow. It's like I just learned a cheat code or something!" Dean smiles a little excited. "What else do you do?"
"Did you just bring me here to mock me?"
"Okay, I'll stop." Dean turned towards the map again but then turns back to look at Cas. "Has Sam seen you?"
Cas nodded, "He helped Jack pick it apparently."
"What? I didn't get the 'give Cas a gift' memo!"
"I don't need gifts from you, Dean."
"Yeah, well you can't stop me. Sam's trying to take the number one friend spot."
"You are both my best friends, Dean."
"But you like me more, right? Profound bond or whatever."
"I don't appreciate the whatever but yes."
"Then that settles that! Let's go to the store." Dean reached for his jacket but Cas grabbed his shirt to pull him back.
"Vampire nest, Dean."
"Oh yeah, let's do that first."
The whole gang went for the vamp nest, while it was easier with Jack and Cas being there they still got a little beat up. Cas got blood on his new shirt and he looked annoyed more about that than when a vamp jumped on his back.
Jack was left on rescue duties so he just escorted the hostages out of the nest while Sam drove the group away in a van to the nearest hospital. Jack went along to poof Sam back home before they were questioned.
When the last vamp head rolled on the ground Dean groaned as he stretched his hand out for a high five from Cas. Cas quickly high five him as he was always quick to humor Dean with small things because Cas knew it was the small things that meant a lot to Dean.
"Woo! That was a rush!" Dean wrapped his arm around Cas shoulder as they walked out of the old building. "You got a little blood on that pretty shirt of yours."
"Yes, I saw that," Cas said and then Dean felt the familiar tingle of grace flowing through him. Dean looked down at his clothes to notice they were both cleaned up.
"Thanks, Cas," Dean says as he lets go of Cas and walks towards the driver's seat. "So where do you wanna go?"
Cas looked at him from above the car with narrowed eyes and that small head tilt. "Are we not going home?"
"I promised you a present."
"I don't understand your fascination with my clothes," Cas said as he opened the passenger side door and sat down. Dean followed and turned the car on. "You never cared before."
"I didn't know it was an option before. I mean, you're a big boy you can wear whatever you want but I didn't know flowers were one of them."
"Jack thought it suited me."
"He's right," Dean said too quickly. He cleared his throat and started driving. "I just think you should change it up every once in a while."
"Would you change it up with me?" Cas looked at Dean then, a little hopeful.
Dean looked back at him then quickly back on the road, a small smile playing on his lips. "What? You don't like the way I dress?"
"I think flowers suit you too," Cas said with no hint of sarcasm.
"Yeah, well, we'll see."
And that's how slowly Cas closet began to fill up. What was once empty now held hangers filled with different shirts that Dean bought him. Even in the middle of a hunt, Dean will ask the witness, "Sorry but where'd you get that shirt?"
Because he knew Cas would like it.
Cas of course also likes making Dean wear some of his shirts too, which Dean pretends to hate. Dean also pretended not to look at Cas chest when he didn't button the shirts all the way up. Or not look when Cas takes off his trench coat to show off his arms in a short-sleeved pink shirt with teal leaves. This was one of Cas' picks and while Dean teased him at first it became one of Dean's favorite shirts to see him wear. He looked even more manly than before.
"Dean, are you listening?" Cas waves a hand in front of Dean's face. They were sitting at a booth at an old dinner, sitting across from each other with cold food on their plates. "You are the one that called me over."
"Yeah, for a break, Cas. Not to talk about the case."
"Then what do you want to talk about?"
"You? Me? Us? I don't really know."
"I don't understand. Why do you wanna talk about us? Did I do something wrong?"
"What? No! No, Cas you're fine. Better than fine actually."
"Then what's wrong? You have been acting a little off lately. Sam only laughs and walks away when I ask him about it. Jack tends to copy Sam and excuses himself. Ever since the last case with that man-"
"I don't wanna talk about that!"
"Then talk, Dean. Why have you been avoiding me and then suddenly inviting me out for dinner?"
"Cause," Dean took a deep breath. "Cause I didn't like that dude kissing you and ripping your shirt like that."
"He was a stripper, Dean. You paid for him to give me a lap dance."
"I didn't think you'd go through with it!"
Cas stayed quiet then as if reading Dean's mind but Dean trusted the angel not to do that. "Are you...no never mind."
"Yes."
"What?"
"I am. I'm jealous."
"But why?"
"Because I bought you that shirt! I should be the one taking it off!" Dean said a little too loud and the dinner got quiet. Dean quickly takes out his wallet and puts more than enough money to pay for their food before walking out. Cas quickly follows behind him, carrying his trench coat in his arm and looking so human.
"Dean,"
"Sorry, I shouldn't have said anything. It's just gonna make it awkward." Dean stops in front of his car not wanting to turn to look at Cas. "You can fly home. I'll meet you there in a few."
"Dean," Cas says again but his voice went deeper than usual, more stern.
Dean sighs and turns around, "Wha-?"
Cas's hand reached to hold the back of Dean's head as his warm lips pressed against Dean's own. Cas pulled away after only seven seconds but Dean hasn't had nearly enough of Cas. His head was still screaming and he couldn't enjoy the kiss enough so he needed more time. He needed Cas lips again.
"Dean," Cas gasped and then Dean pulled Cas back. He closed his eyes enjoying the soft fabric of Cas shirt in his hands. Enjoying the little gasp Cas makes inside of Dean's mouth as Dean couldn't help but want to taste Cas. Dean leaned against the Impala as he pulled Cas against him, his arms around Cas' waist and fingers grasping at his shirt. They made out in the parking lot like teenagers for a few more seconds before Cas finally pulled away with a smirking smile.
"Don't rip my shirts but you can take it off whenever you like." Cas brushed his lips against Dean's own. His hot breath made Dean feel a little dizzy.
Dean nodded as he tilted his head to capture those lips again. "Gotcha."
They smiled against each other's lips as they started to kiss again. Slow and soft.
Later that night Cas' nice shirt was on the floor of a motel room.
