Chris Evans is a well-known name in Hollywood. Not only for his looks, his iconic role as Captain America, and his famous left boob grab, but the way he kept talking about you in all his interviews.

There was no denying that he was obsessed with you and even more since you carried his child. This obsession was even noticed by fans that they couldn't help but make a video about their favorite Marvel star.

The trending internet video started with a clip of Chris in his famous white suit standing in front of the cameras at the knives out the premiere.

While everyone was screaming at him and trying to get his attention, his eyes were only locked on you, mesmerized by your beauty and making sure you were okay, that the baby was fine.

"Hey Chris, how are you? Good to see you." The voice of the extratv journalist was heard while she was shaking his hand.

"What was it like to be a part of it and work with the cast?" Her first question came immediately after the introduction and made Chris think for a few seconds.

" Uh, I-It was uh, very humbling, y'know a-a lot very talented people who've had uh very long career in this industry so, a lot to learn."

Just when the interviewer was going to shoot him with another question, Chris showed he was clearly not done with his answer.

"Also, also I would like to say that it meant a lot to my wife, Y/N, too." He pointed towards you, where you were standing next to his publicist, trying not to take his thunder away tonight with your very pregnant belly.

"Oh yeah, Y/N is also here tonight! Let's let her join in this interview too!"

Chris then waved the woman off "No, that's okay. She doesn't like this type of thing and I want to respect that. But yeah, she is the reason I accepted this-the job. She is, y'know- my wife is very into detective work and solving crimes so when the opportunity came I just-I had to take it to make her happy."

The next clip showed Chris yet with another interviewer, but this time he was sitting in front of her with Ana de Armas next to him.

"So first, I wanted to say congratulations to Chris. You and your wife are expecting a baby."

In an instant, a smile grew on his face, and he got excited since the conversation was his favorite topic.

"That's right, yeah." He said, with a smirk on his face and his pink in his mouth.

"So how does that feel, becoming a dad after waiting all those years?"

He answered the question with such ease, " It is exciting, but also intimidating, in a way." He started, "Just like you said the need- I wanted to have a family for so long, you think I would've mentally prepared myself, but it is nothing like that. You're scared, you're nervous, you-you constantly thinking if you're going to be a great dad, y'know? All these questions come up and make you more anxious than you already are but, thankfully I have Y/N, she-"

"Omg, she is amazing," Ana interrupted him.

Chris nodded immediately, agreeing with her statement.

"So amazing. I mean, honestly, without her, I think I would be lost. She is the best wife, the best friend, and I know she is going to be the best mother for our child. I-I don't know what I would do without her."

"That's so cute. I'm so happy for you, Chris."

The next clip was him in Massachusetts, on a set of Defending Jacob posing in front of the cameras with a bunch of fans.

"Man, when are you growing your hair back, we loved it in infinity war!" A man said while recording the encounters between Chris and his fans. He smiled and looked towards the guy who said: " I'm sorry but, the wife doesn't like it, so it's not gonna happen. Whatever she wants."

With that, he waved at the fans for the last time before going back to his trailer. He almost missed the guy's response:

"Never thought Captain America was gonna be pussy-whipped!"

Without turning back, Chris shouted back to him : "Why are you saying like it's a bad thing!"

Another video was added of him at the tonight show starring Jimmy Fallon.

"Did you-where you sad when you had to do the end-last scene?" Jimmy asked him after they started talking about the success of Avengers Endgame.

"Yeah, it was very emotional. I mean, it's emotional. These movies are a huge part of your life. And so, when they come to an end, it really it has an impact. But thankfully, I had my wife by my side who supported me throughout everything and, y'know, was there when I needed that extra emotional support."

"Speaking of your wife, Y/N, congratulations buddy she is pregnant!"

The whole crowd started cheering and clapping, Including Jimmy himself, and Chris could only smile and nod, showing how proud he was.

"Yeah, she is. We're expecting a child together, which sounds so odd when I say it because my dream I had for years finally became a reality."

The whole audience was awed, making Chris swoon.

"I am so happy for you pal, I truly am. So how far along is she?"

He looked in the air, thinking and making sure he was giving the right answers.

"She is- tomorrow she will be 7 months pregnant, yeah. Again, I couldn't be more excited about the whole thing. She is incredible. I mean literally, words don't even describe how much she means to me. I love her so much and can't wait to meet our baby."

"That's incredible news, buddy."

The final clip of the video was a self-recorded video Chris made to wish one of his fans a happy birthday.

"Hey Josh, it's me, Chris Evans. So your friends told me you turned 21, and I just wanted to say, have a happy birthday buddy. You're finally at the age that you can drink, at least legally, so go out and have a drink and enjoy it with your friends as much as you can. I would've joined you guys, but y'know, the missus is pregnant and we don't want her to scream at us like a street cat, do we?"

The video also caught you screaming from behind.

"Hey, I heard that!"

"I was just joking honey, all good here!" Chris screamed back. " She just proved my point," he whispered "anyway, happy birthday buddy, thank you for all the love, and enjoy your day. I've gotta show some love to my wife. Don't want her to get too mad at me. See you later, pal."

The video was so loved that it got 10 million in just one day and received many comments from fans:

"Oh fuck off, Gavin, I'm not sick!"

You all but sputtered, your cheeks dusted a light pink as you stood in front of your friend and coworker's desk, arms crossed and hip cocked to the side while you eyed him with as much disdain as you could muster.

"Are you being serious, dumb ass? You babysat Chris' kid while it had the flu four days ago, and now you're drinking tea and popping cough drops at your desk like it's your job. Just admit you were an idiot and go home."

You scoffed, glaring at Gavin as you moved away to sit down in your desk chair before turning it to face him once more.

"It wasn't a bad idea for me to babysit the kid, Reed, and I definitely did not get sick because of an eighteen month old child. Now do you have anything of substance to say, or can I finally get back to work?"

You watched as Gavin rolled his eyes, chuckling slightly under his breath as he turned his attention back to his monitor,

"Yeah yeah, whatever you say, loser. Good luck nursing yourself back to health without taking a day off work."

Fighting the urge to flip off your coworker, you instead turned your gaze towards your own monitor, only to find yourself looking right above it and into the eyes of your department's rk900 model android, who had long since been dubbed 'Nines'.

You swallowed thickly, wincing shortly thereafter at the pain that action caused within your throat before catching yourself and forcing a polite smile,

"Hey Nines, what's up?"

You asked as casually as you could manage, watching as the android in question raised a brow before motioning towards Gavin, who had started watching your interaction the moment you'd spoken aloud.

You shrugged, trying not to pay your human coworker too much mind as you cleared your throat again awkwardly before attempting to speak once more, though your voice did sound notably strained this time,

"Reed told me last week that babysitting Chris' kid while he was sick was a bad idea because it was sure to get me sick too. I told him that my body was strong enough to fight off whatever an eighteen month old had, and he bet me twenty bucks that I'd be too sick to come to work within the week. That was four days ago, and now he's doing his best to convince me to go home since he's gotten it in his head that I caught the flu from the kid."

Nines' gaze was cold and stern as he stood, his arms crossed as he took a step closer,

"Did you?"

He asked, and you allowed yourself a moment to get lost in said gaze, however cold it may have been, before snapping out of it, remembering your promise to keep things professional at work.

Wouldn't want anyone catching on, after all.

"Wha- no, of course I didn't."

You sputtered nervously, hearing Gavin chuckle as he watched you from his seat, clearly amused and more than a little entertained.

"Are you sure about that, Detective?"

Nines pressed, taking another two steps closer to where you were sitting as he watched you calmly, a slight smirk making its way to his lips all the while.

"Because I have noticed a bit of a drop in your performance throughout the past two days, and it is part of policy that sick employees remain at home for necessary rest."

You shivered at the sound of Nines' voice, but did your best to play it cool despite your physical reaction to his now significantly closer presence.

"I-I'm fine I promise. I think I've just been a little tired, is all..."

You trailed off as the android in question moved to stand directly beside you, his hand falling to the back of your chair and turning it in his direction, thus forcing you to face him head on as he gazed down at you intently, that smirk remaining all the while.

"Oh really? Well, if you're just tired, I don't suppose you'd mind a routine test of your health?"

"A routine test of my health? No but what exactly-"

You were cut off by a pair of familiar lips crashing into yours as an equally familiar hand moved to cup your chin, tilting your face upward as you gasped into the kiss, eyes fluttering closed against your will. You remained this way for several seconds, until finally, Nines pulled away, humming as he looked down at you with both amusement and exasperation evident in his expression,

"According to my analysis of your saliva, you are suffering from the common flu, detective. Please gather your things and allow me to bring you home. I will inform the captain of our absence."

Unable to argue, you nodded meekly, your hand briefly raising to touch your subtly bruised lips before you snapped out of it and hurried to get your things together, trying desperately to ignore Gavin's shocked expression all the while.

Nines, on the other hand, seemed eager to bask in your shared coworker's surprise, and was in no apparent rush to leave, gathering his own belongings with the swift and relaxed ease that seemed to come so naturally to him.

Once everything was together, however, he made no effort to poke at Gavin further, simply guiding you by your elbow to the door as Reed began to follow suit, sputtering various questions, most of which were nonsensical and jumbled.

Eventually though, as the front door loomed before the two of you, Nines did stop and turn towards the man, his lips twitching upward ever so slightly as he smoothly withdrew his wallet from his pocket before reaching into it, his gaze never leaving Gavin's all the while.

"Oh, and thank you for your concern for my partner's well being, Detective Reed."

He said cheekily as he handed the man in question a twenty dollar bill before exiting the building entirely with you at his side.

The game mechanic in RE8 of collecting crystalized corpses of your enemies and selling them off for more weapons/supplies is the most Alastor thing I have ever heard. If he can't eat them, might as well sell them for more supplies to kill more people.

Their coworker/friend got sent off to investigate missing persons on the Baker Ranch, but months passed and he was nowhere to be found. Searches came up fruitless and created more missing persons, and Alastor must have gone to the station constantly pressing them for any information and making it obvious if they weren't going to find Guy, Alastor would. Then Alastor disappeared too. He appeared again a day later covered in blood and god knows what else, trying to help a Guy who looked like he was starved and tortured. But he was alive and could come back on the force. But Guy was traumatized from his time in the Baker Ranch, he wasn't the same person they saw as a friend, and this was the 1920/30s so nobody knew how to deal with that. And just when they thought it couldn’t get worse, Guy started to get sick. Really sick.

While Nifty is off killing every bug she sees; she meets Marguerite and she doesn’t get scared. In fact, Nifty is the one trying to track down and kill her. Meanwhile Lucifer is trying to search for Charlie and has to deal with Mold. Now normally this would be a walk in the park for him, but he has no access to his powers. Now he has to rely on weapons, learning to combine things and basically everything he saw Alastor do. Lucifer trying to shoot and he keeps missing his targets. Dude can’t even use the knife correctly They’re all doom. I can’t help but wonder how they’ll fair in RE8

Vox eavesdrops on the rest of the hotel seeing Alastor’s memories, but because he’s eavesdropping grossly misunderstands the entire situation at the Baker's Estate. Featuring gems like thinking Eveline is Guy’s child based on her referring to him as such, and completely misreading the nature of Guy and Alastor’s relationship. Aka Vox’s misunderstanding of the situation and attempting to use it against Alastor leads to Alastor being really really confused why a fake Guy is referring to Eveline as “our daughter.” He’s not being re-traumatized, it’s so absurd he doesn’t know what to do with it or how the Baker's Estate got misconstrued to this degree.

Resident Evil 7/8 RE8 probably didn't happen while Alastor was alive because that's too heroic a death for someone who went to hell, it happened after he was dead and everyone was in hell (the lords becoming overlords). So when Al dies to defeat the villain he respawns in heaven and immediately tries to get out. Everyone is devastated that Alastor committed self sacrifice, only for Alastor to appear in hell 5 minutes later because he clawed his way back down.

Ty for the ask anon ! Honestly some of these questions are things i originally wanted to include in the explanation post but ended up deleting because i didnt want to make it too lengthy so Im glad to talk about them now!

1. Martin doesnt remember Chris clearly, he has some blurry memories and flashes but its mostly the feelings he remembers if that makes sense. Like how he was close with Chris and loved him a lot, the feeling of fear everyone felt when Chris went missing and the despair when no one could give them closure, how lonely he felt after.

He doesnt really know what Chris could look like, maybe he likes to imagine, but you cant really get accurate answers like that. Also with cases like his you often see detectives constructing images of what the missing kids could look like now years later and I thought about Chris getting one of these done but he probably would only do that if he sorted through everything else because while Martin thinks his brother is alive, Chris firmly believes that he died a long time ago. He doesnt really think the image would be useful

2. Hes half brainwashed and half doesnt remember a lot of things naturally because of a traumatic reaction. What he has been told was that they have been through a traumatic accident (like a car crash) of some kind that damaged his brain temporarily and thats why he barely remembers anything from his early childhood and has some memories that never actually happened (the memories of the Kratt family) and he believes thats true because frankly, he has no reason not to. Maybe he questioned it when he was younger, but as an adult your childhood memories get really blurry (especially if youve been through something traumatic) so he kind of just accepted the car crash excuse to be true. He suspects there's something hes not being told but he doesn't even think of him being kidnapped as a possibility

3. A little, yes ! The reason Martin wanted his brothers case to be investigated again was actually because of how bad it affected his parents even after 20 years, which is just the sad reality of missing child cases. This part is unfortunately not that well developped yet, but maybe the Kratt brothers father fell really ill and Martin was worried hed have to pass away without knowing what happened to Chris, or maybe they got divorced after not being able to move on from the incident evem after all that time, ill have to think about it but whatever happened motivated Marin to contact detective Chris.

Either way I do have 2 scenes in my head that include atleast one of them ! The first one is where Chris and Martin go back to Martins childhood home to search the area again, and they briefly talk to mama Kratt who still lives here, and she takes one look at Chris with a mothers eye and thinks "wow he looks exactly like Chris" and although she doesnt believe its actually him she does think its some sign from the universe or idk something sentimental !! I just rhink itd be sweet of her. I also think itd be interesting from the pov of Chris because this is a maternal figure who treats him really nice and he just cant help but notice how different his mom is from Martins yk sad feelings...

Also Chris gets to reunite with his parents after everything goes down :)

4. Hell Yeah!!

Martins missions here are a bit more professional as he doesnt really have anyone to goof around with but he still has fun because he gets to gush about animals to the team.!! (He definitely wishes he had someone with him out in the field) Also i guess the villains are also interesting here because dealing with them alone causes confrontations to drag out, and they also become harder and more serious, especially with Zach as he got a big advantage with 'the crawler'. Aviva does jump in to help a lot but shes a bit limited because at this point she hasnt finished making her own cps yet (this might become relevant later i havent decided yet.)

In the last part I assume you were asking about how they feel about Chris, and they do meet a lot while Martin and Chris are working on the investigation, and Koki actually helps them a lot with her computer skills. The crew also grows pretty close to Chris, i mean he kinda just clicks with them, and he latches onto them a lot as he hasnt really had proper friends before. Like ever. Basically theyre just found family i love them. !!!

A slightly unhinged ramble-rant on Chairman Rose and how people are missing the entire point of SWSH.

Like, I keep seeing it pop up--like a fucking rank smell you only detect if you’re in a certain place when the wind is blowing in the certain direction--but man does it not bewilder me. Like, these guys who post tags like ‘Chairman Rose is a bad guy but is not a BAD guy’ or ‘I kind of agreed with Chairman Rose’ are just. Are you high?? Did you entirely miss the point of his character?? Did you completely miss the main plot of SWSH?

I’m going to be talking about some heavy shit (including non-sexual child grooming and non-sexual child predation), so I’m gonna put the rest under a read more, let me just say that the theme of SWSH is the relationship between adults and children on their Pokemon journeys, the responsibilities adults have towards children, and what happens when that relationship is abused.

First off, before I get some know-it-all coming at me about how there’s no evidence that Rose is a child predator or a groomer, let me just say there is. Is he a Chris Hansen ‘take a seat for me’ groomer?? No, he’s not, because child grooming is not purely a sexual thing.

Per a very informative article:

“Grooming can be sexual, romantic, financial or for criminal or terrorism purposes, and can target both children and adults. The common aspect is that a perpetrator manipulates a victim by building trust and rapport. The key to grooming is a power dynamic within the relationship: age, gender, physical strength, economic status or another factor.”

Now, with that out of the way, I’m not going to go into shit that’s super obvious to anyone with eyes, but Rose is a serial child groomer. Like, his most obvious victim is Leon, and it’s really wild that people can’t see it?? Like, Leon obviously comes from a fucked-up home situation with a mother who’s absent and neglectful at best (and the people who don’t seem to realize this REALLY confuse me). Like, he has canonically raised his little brother in a house with three adults that could have done the job for him, and the anime literally stated that he was so busy raising Hop and taking care of household chores that he could barely interact with other kids. He was endorsed by Chairman Rose at an age that is implied to be at least two years younger than the average Gym Challenger, and--per the sub of the PokeAni--Rose literally raised him from the moment he became Champion.

(Where was Leon and Hop’s mother during this, you ask? Obviously being terrible at home, since despite Leon being run ragged for all of his life and rarely being home, he still somehow raised his little brother. Let that sink in.)

So Leon has spent his entire life being moulded into Rose’s delusion of the Hero of Galar for the sole purpose of sacrificing himself to defeat Eternatus to stave off an energy crisis that will happen in a millennium and probably would be averted with solar power. THE SUB IN THE POKEANI LITEARLLY HAS ROSE TELLING LEON THAT HE HAS GROOMED HIM FOR THE EXACT PURPOSE OF TAMING ETERNATUS. I’M NOT MAKING THIS UP. I WILL PROVIDE SCREENSHOTS IF ASKED.

Does he know Leon may likely fucking die in the attempt? He sure does, because he’s already started to work on grooming Leon’s replacements! In the game, Bede is a trainer who came from a neglectful home situation who was noticed by the Chairman and given his endorsement for the Gym Challenge wait hold on that sounds really familiar.

Really, REALLY familiar.

Rose’s ploy with taking away Bede’s gym challenger endorsement after Bede literally did what he asked him to was a clear manipulation tactic, and if it hadn’t been for Opal intervening (and she ABSOLUTELY has Rose’s number and you can’t convince me otherwise), the tactic likely would have worked, because Bede would have done anything to get his endorsement back.

(Also Oleana is absolutely the fall girl set up to look like an obstructive villain while Rose can maintain his veneer of innocence. That’s a topic for another day tho.)

AND THEN. in the anime, he flat out tries to do this with Ash. AND IN THE GAME, HE TRIES TO DO THIS WITH THE MC, LIKE BEDE IS HIS PLAN B AND THE PC IS HIS PLAN C. However, the only child Rose has regular chances to interact with who DOES NOT get the manipulation treatment is Hop. Correct me if I’m wrong, but the Chairman always tries to pull shit with you when Hop isn’t around, and the two times he DOES interact with Hop are at the very end of the game where Leon’s been forced into trying to stop the apocalypse and after the Opening Ceremony.

What’s different about the Opening Ceremony, though? LEON IS STANDING RIGHT OVER ROSE’S SHOULDER SMILING STEPFORDLY. Which brings me to my next point: why Rose pulls his end game bullshit.

Leon is now in his early 20s, so he has obviously started to ask for his own agency and say no to things. He has also obviously realized that he does NOT want Rose around his brother, which is why he is fucking looming over Rose’s shoulder when he meets Hop and why Rose almost seems to deliberately avoid Hop for the rest of the game. Rose knows that if he so much as messes with Hop, Leon is going to absolutely turn on him, and he’s already become obstinate enough to be a problem. Rose is losing control of Leon, which is why he’s grooming his potential replacements.

It’s also why Rose LITERALLY HOLDS LEON HOSTAGE IN A TOWER. Like, I am amazed that people haven’t seemed to realize that Hop and the MC were ABSOLUTELY rescuing Leon from a hostage situation. Leon had been on top of the tower with Rose for HOURS at that point, and given Oleana’s personal fucking army and how much Leon clearly did not want to be up there, it’s obvious that there wasn’t a way he could easily extricate himself from the situation. What you do hear from his meeting with Rose sounds a lot like a guy trying to say no while also trying to de-escalate a volatile situation: almost like a victim to their abuser oh wait.

(Oleana also says that the reason she wants to defeat you and Hop is to break Leon’s spirit so he won’t have the strength to say no to the Chairman anymore. Like, that’s literally in game. It’s dialogue.)

So yeah. You’re rescuing a prince from a tower who’s being held hostage by an evil king trying to use the prince’s special power for nefarious purposes. This game is full of fairy tale metaphors. Like, a ton.

When you and Hop show up, you basically force Rose to let Leon go so as to not look like a complete fucking monster or cause a scandal, and Leon basically very politely tells Rose to ‘fuck off’ when he leaves.

So Rose--this narcissistic, megalomaniacal child groomer, who’s basically been shut down by the lynch pin of his plan--does the absolute most rational thing and RELEASES THE APOCALYPSE DEMON OUT OF SPITE. He literally says on a screen in front of Galar that oh no, his releasing Eternatus and causing the Second Darkest Day is actually all LEON’S fault for being so unreasonable and unrealistic. It’s manipulation. It’s emotional abuse. It’s Rose punishing his victim for saying no. It’s Rose throwing a tantrum because Leon told him to wait another week before doing something about something that would happen in a millennium.

Bede made a fool of Rose doing exactly what Rose and Oleana wanted him to do, so he punished him. Leon said no, so he punished him, and punished all of Galar while he was at it. He’s not doing shit for the good of Galar. He’s doing it for himself.

See, the game’s story exists to debate the relationship between adults and children in the Pokemon world. For generation after generation of games, children as young as ten have gone out in the big wide world with nothing but their starter and a Pokedex, and the adults they have met have never had any poor intentions towards them specifically. Yes, there’s all the evil teams and blah blah blah, but they weren’t targeting you, the child MC. You were just caught up in their messes. SWSH is the first game to show that no, there are adults who will try to take advantage of you because you are a child, and there are good adults who will try to protect you.

Opal protects Bede. Leon protects you and Hop. Leon has obviously gotten old enough to realize that what Rose did to him was wrong, and he tries so fucking hard through the whole game to protect you and his little brother from his boss’s machinations and all the bad shit happening in the world. I know people bitch about being ‘railroaded’ and not allowed to participate in the ‘plot’ until the end, but that’s the point. The good adults are trying to protect the children from the bad adults trying to harm them, and the children intervene only when the adults die trying to save them. Children should be allowed to adventures and have fun, but they should also be protected and shielded from shit that can harm them and shit they’re not old enough to understand, and this game--for better or for worse--is trying to strike that balance.

One last, very important thing. Leon’s life had been micromanaged and controlled from the moment he became Champion by Chairman Rose. He had to become all things to Galar--its fucking policeman, it’s regional hero, it’s unbeatable symbol of perfection, it’s hero, and--almost--its messiah--and when the MC becomes a Champion? He doesn’t hesitate to become Chairman, and he tells you--the new Champion--that your job is to explore and have fun. He doesn’t ask you to do sponsorship deals. He lets you do matches and tournaments at your own leisure. He calls you politely to ask if you want to do the Galarian Star Tournament. He doesn’t even know your PHONE NUMBER and I think about that a lot.

The game is about the responsibilities adults have towards children. It’s about how you don’t have to be the main character to be the hero. It’s about how you can’t and shouldn’t do everything alone. It’s about how child predation and abuse don’t have to be obvious or ‘traditional’ to be real and a threat. Finally, as Leon demonstrates so poignantly, it’s about breaking the cycle of abuse.

And THAT’S why SWSH is one of the best stories--if not THE best--that the Pokegames have ever told, regardless of its faults and the National Dex and a berry tree looking a little weird.

I’m finally making THE big detailed Monster Island Lore Post.

General setting:

This world operates on the following assumptions:

-Supernatural is the umbrella term for any nonhuman sapient creature.

-Paranormals are rare nowadays and have limited legal protections. (Paranormals are anything besides creatures like vampires and werewolves)

-Persons With Supernatural Diseases are werewolves and vampires and such.

-There are hospital wings for supernatural related injuries and also for newly turned vampires and werewolves

-Generally speaking, supernaturals are only just starting to be treated like real people, but that doesn’t mean social acceptance.

-Chris's show integrates supernaturals and humans into one show, mostly with challenges that don't give them any particular advantage-- The reason he integrates supernaturals is actually for reasons completely unrelated to social progress but that's more like a happy side effect that arose from it— (Chris in-universe is generally considered really liberal or something which is just absolutely hilarious considering the circumstances)

Supernatural creatures were only able to be around in public with legal protections FAIRLY RECENTLY.

like. 2009 kinda recently.

In the 1970s— and ONLY then, before then this was pretty common— There was a whole ass job for Helsings- monster hunters.

They were basically a combination between detectives and assassins--

Think peak McCarthyism (and the red and lavender scares kinda) but worse. And they were only outlawed as a practice officially (before then most were disbanded) in 1995 (in America anyway. Helsing Abolition Act of 1995)

Most of the time the general practice if you find out your relative or friend is a werewolf was to report them because GRAH DANGEROUS MONSTER and all that.

Chris McLean is a well known child actor, performer, and all around TV star that was very active and popular (even at one point being considered a ‘heartthrob’ by a couple of teen magazines in the late 90s).

Around 2004, he sort of went radio silent— people even thought that he’d died, along with other wild rumors. But in 2006, he made a miraculous return to the world of TV and reality TV by announcing that he was setting up a brand new show: Total Drama Island!

The particularly important aspect of the show regarding its casual involvement of supernaturals right next to the rest of the human cast got mixed feedback, but ultimately the show got greenlit.

Werewolves:

Werewolves are people with lycanthropy. (And therefore in the “persons with supernatural diseases” category) Lycanthropy is transferred by bite, in the shifted form on the full moon only. People can’t choose to shift into wolf form (with mild exception). Wolf forms are mildly anthropomorphic wolf like beasts, with eyes unchanged from their human forms. In human form, all werewolves have pointy ears and fangs. Werewolves in general have increased strength and athleticism akin to a human skilled athlete. Also comes with an increase in testosterone.

The most common strain would just be referred to as the generic strain. Everyone knows it. Someone turns into a big muscle-bound bara werewolf, (so mildly anthropromorphic and larger than a human) and out of shift they’re a bit beefier and hairier than most folks and commonly have slightly pointed ears. Shifts on full moons only. Transmissible via bite in wolf form only. Also includes Loup Garous and Black Dogs/Grims/Barghests.

Another strain, rare but not unheard of, would be the Chupacabra strain— Most common in areas with a high vampire concentration and originally made with a vampire who got bitten by a werewolf, but in rare cases of this, a unique strain is formed and transmissible. Not as much hair growth, though sometimes the hair growth is traded for rough skin and hedgehog-like spines on the back and neck.

Vampires:

Vampirism is basically a very weird, slightly magic parasite that definitely doesn’t follow as much logic as werewolves do. Vampirism is technically a bloodborne “parasite” (actually a non sentient symbiote since the host is rewarded with powers) that is transferred by bite, but is entirely up to the turning vampire whether or not their victim turns.

They must drink blood to survive, but any kind of blood works. The sun burns, but it’s more a discomfort most days and can be dealt with pretty easily with sunblock, an umbrella, or clothing that covers the body.

Vampires generally have super speed, and the ability to walk up walls, and They’re harmed by holy water and consecrated ground.

There’s also a weird phenomenon called vampire “royalty”. This actually doesn’t have anything to do with real royalty btw. But essentially, it’s possible for a vampire to “become” “royalty”, which just makes them a different type of vampire whose only real difference is long elegant pointy ears, “inkstained” hands and ears, and mysterious extra abilities. Nobody really knows how this happened, only that it’s something that does happen.

Paranormals:

The other kinds of supernaturals (called Paranormals) are considered separate SPECIES/RACES, they’re genetically compatible with humans and they’re just kind of another kind of people. More often than not, they’ve got their own isolated cultures that intertwine with the culture of whichever country they’re in.

-Sirens are any kind of aquatic creature. Could be merpeople, could be selkies, etc. They’re amphibious, but unless stated otherwise, can’t walk on land. [But they’ll be unplayable unless they’re explicitly semiaquatic. since this is an umbrella term, you can get extra creative with this…]

-Harpies are bird people, and can retract and extend their wings, but they’re very physically fragile. They have hollow bones, bird feet, they're very light, and they have long tails. (Could be based off of any bird species, and as such will have minor abilities based on that fact)

-Satyrs have goat horns, furry legs with cloven hooves, and short goat tails, as well as furry goat ears. They’re known to be energetic party animals, and are said to have a connection to Dionysus, the Greek god of wine and partying. (Just said to, though, there’s no proof of this)

After all of that, the detectives left him in the interrogation room for hours. Room? Box. It wasn’t a room, there was no way that it could be called an interrogation room, it was nothing but a sweat box. He should know too, considering how long he’d spent days on end living inside a tour bus, a tour bus that could also easily be turned into a sweat box in during the long summer days of the tour days. Especially back when the buses were barely more than that, nothing more than that, a sweat box. 

Ricky was left sitting, no, sweating it out in that interrogation room, coming up to three hours when one of the detectives finally came back in to let him know he was free to go, for now at least. He had a feeling that this wasn’t something they were happy about doing, which was ridiculous, it wasn’t as if they could have any kind of proof he was involved in this, he wasn’t! Yes, he knew his claim about the trauma soul bond would probably seem ridiculous to many, but that didn’t mean he was trying to kill Talia, and assuming that was just offensive to him.

He should have called them on their bullshit, he knew he should have, as he looked at the detectives, why did he realise that now?! Fuck, his brain was just done from the hospital, and all he could think about was getting back to his soulmates. 

As he was walking down the hall from the offices that the interrogation had been in, Ricky’s eyes widened when he saw her being led down the hall towards him by another officer. Grace. Shit. She was the last person he wanted to see right now, of all people in the world he could run into, all he wanted was to be back at the hospital. To see if Talia was doing any better, to see if Chris was okay. They’d have called if anything had changed while he was gone, right?

Either way, Grace just wasn’t worth the aggravation. She wasn’t worth the stress or the brain power. Keep walking and ignore her. 

As he kept going, it was then, as he pushed the mental fortitude to just keep going, push past as he walked and ignore her, that was when she noticed him. Ricky assumed until that point she possibly had been too frustrated by the fact she was here at all, being escorted by the police officer behind her, or so he assumed, but then, oh then it went out the window. She saw him, and just like that, chaos. It was always chaos with her now, but he’d have loved to avoid it, not that he could block her like with the death threats online last time. This time… it was the screech that came right for him.

“You! Richard Olson! I can’t believe it, why was she driving your car?! You never let me drive your car! You were the one supposed to be driving your car! How dare you, how dare you, how dare-”

Even as Grace was practically being dragged away, she was still screaming at the top of her lungs. The beat cop that had brought her in was attempting to lead her away forcefully, while the detectives who had brought him in had come out to investigate the source of the commotion. No doubt Grace had been brought in for questioning on their case, so it was something to note, made him wonder if they had not waited until the very moment she was being escorted in to let him go. What were they going to do if she’d attacked him, what were they going to do if she’d tried to kill him, right there in the middle of the station? She had just admitted to attempting to kill Talia thinking it was him, who knows what could have happened, and they weren’t even out here when it happened. 

“Are you kidding me?!”

Ricky looked at the detectives when they said that obviously she was going to be charged with Talia’s attempted murder, as if it was so simple. Not even an apology for suspecting and accusing him as they had.

“If you could come back with us to give a statement-”

“Not today.”

He was putting his foot down. After three hours of being shirked around, he’d had enough.

“You just had me sitting in that room for three hours straight, I am, frankly, tired, sweltering hot, starving, and all I want to do is get back to the hospital… where I would have liked to have been this entire time.”

Glaring at them. Instead, they’d kept him here, looking back, he felt like an idiot because he should have demanded they charged him or let him go, but he hadn’t, he’d been so worried about the Grace issue, he let it go. There was also the other problem, he didn’t want anyone to dig into Chris, find out about his other soulmate, it could be a disaster, so he let them walk all over him, and he shouldn’t have, idiot.

“Don’t worry, I’ll give a statement.”

Pulling out his wallet, he flipped it open and pulled out one of his person business cards and handed it over. 

“You can contact me at a later date, and we can arrange it through official channels, no just showing up at the hospital this time. My family is going through a very stressful time, as you can imagine.”

Ignoring anything else they might have had to say to him, he just left, he was done with them. Assholes.

Ricky was worn out, he was so worn thin by the time he had driven himself back to the hospital. As it was, he was practically half on autopilot all the way back during the drive. Yes, he knew how dangerous that was, especially considering the cause of what had Talia laying in that bed right now, but his head was back in that police station. Grace had been trying to kill him, and instead Talia was fighting for her life. If she died, if, if Chris lost another soulmate… Grace she… Continuing, before he knew it, he was on his way into the hospital, riding the elevator, up to the floor where he knew Chris, Vinny, and Ava were waiting for him. 

When he did get to Talia’s hospital room though she had her own private room, they had made sure of that, especially when they realised Grace was involved, Vinny and Ava were nowhere to be found. It was Chris, just Chris, sitting there by Talia’s bed, holding her hand, a book open in the other, the sound of his voice pausing softly as Ricky approached the doorway. He’d been reading to her. Ricky smiled a little, only for the expression to fade after a moment when he looked at Chris, thinking about everything that had happened, seeing the instant smile on his face when he saw him. Of course, Chris seeing the way Ricky’s face fell, just caused the singer’s expression to just drop, instantly.

“What, what happened?”

Chris had enough of Ava and Vinny after a while, he knew that they were just trying to be supportive and positive. It got to be a bit much when he was worried about not only Talia in a coma and Ricky at the police station. Grace was trying to destroy his soulmate bonds from both sides. They should have done something before now, they should have, but she’d disappeared into thin air. He should have hired an investigator to find her, to figure out what she was up to after that live when she disappeared. After everything that happened with his stalker, he knew better than to assume she would leave Ricky alone, he knew. Five years, five years she’d stuck to him like glue, why would she let go now?. Now, now Talia was barely holding on, and Ricky, looking down at his phone, why hadn’t he called, it had been hours.

Sighing, he had sent Vinny and Ava home almost an hour ago, told them he was just going to nap, and he had, for about half an hour. However, for the last twenty minutes or so since he’d woken up, he had been reading Alice in Wonderland to Talia. It had been something he’d had Ava bring up a few days ago. He remembered Talia telling him how much she loved it during one of their coffee sessions, only for now Ricky to finally return. Smiling at the sight of him, so happy to see him, feeling an instant warmth that they had at long last let him go. The problem was, the moment Chris saw Ricky in the doorway, he knew something wasn’t right with him.

“What, what happened?”

Closing the book, he immediately set it aside on the bedside table, he knew something had to have happened. It wasn’t if something had, it was had. Hours, they had kept him for hours, and that despondent look on his face, he knew it was something. Chris’ arms opened to him as Ricky half stumbled into them, sitting in the chair beside him, almost falling against his side, his face pressing against his shoulder, muffled words against his shirt.

“I don’t want to talk about it.

“Rick-”

He knew, it wouldn’t be good not to talk about it, no matter how badly it went, and it might be raw now, but this was the police. Chris was terrified what might come of this. He remembered how it had been when he’d gone through it all, and he’d admit, when he’d been in the same place Ricky was now, he’d had the same reaction, never wanting to talk… It had not taken him down a good path. Sighing, he didn’t know if he should push, or just wait, his arms squeezing around him.

“Chris, I, I know, but it’s my fault, and I can’t, okay, I know you think I should talk about it, but it’s my fault. All of this is my fault, and nothing that I’m going to do or say is going to make this all right.”

Oh, wow, wait one second there, Chris brain came to a screeching halt when it came to thinking about how to deal with helping Ricky deal with his stalker issue… He tried to pull back to get a look at him some, only for Ricky’s arms to tighten his grip around him with a sob.

“Rick, Ricky, Cupcake, fuck, this is not your fault. Grace is absolutely psycho. What did they say to you? I told you not to let them make you feel crazy, that includes letting them make you believe that the blame was on you babe, dammit, this was not your fault-”

That was when Ricky pulled back, Chris saw the tears in his eyes now, not just hearing them in his words.

“She thought it was me in the car, Chris. She was trying to kill me, not Talia. She wouldn’t be in that bed fighting for her life if it weren’t for me, you wouldn’t be worried about losing a second soulmate if it weren’t for me. Dammit Chris. This is on me. You're right, she is psycho, she stalked me, she manipulated me, she- she-”

Ricky choked before he could finish… and found himself sobbing into Chris' shoulder again. He was no better when it came to the last part, knowing what he had done to Talia, between their tattoos, and coercion. It was all so grey, but he felt like a monster some days. He was trying so hard to be better, and she said she forgave him, but he wasn’t sure he’d ever forgive himself… but Grace… the law was so muddled about sexual predators and faux soulmate crimes. Many wanted them to be labelled as rapists, whether it was consensual or not because one party had had no clue of the truth. Others, however, said it was no different from a normal relationship and a person lying to their partner, Ricky did not agree. Considering the bond that had formed from his trauma, how Chris’ tattoo had literally changed, Ricky far from agreed, what Grace had done to him, it went far beyond just lying to your partner. She ripped at his very soul.

Some states called it rape, some assault, some called it nothing at all. Theirs, however, had a statute of limitations on faux soulmate related sexual assault and Ricky hadn’t figured Grace out in time. In turn, it had left him feeling like the disaster he was now. 

Chris just held Ricky like that, in his arms, resolved to comfort him as best he could, refusing to let him give in. He would be there for him as long as he needed him to be. No matter what happened to Talia. This was not his fault, no matter what he though, no matter what anyone might have said to him, Chris refused to let him believe it. 

It was when he heard a groan from the hospital bed that he was looking over to the hospital bed,

“Talia?”

The next thing he knew, a soft, groggy murmur came from the small woman in the bed.

“Put the bunny back in the top hat, get back in the top hat, Mister Bunny, come back!”

Even Rick, who had been sobbing a moment before, couldn’t help but chuckling at her babbling as she started to slowly regain consciousness.

“I told you that magic white rabbit tattoo on her hip had to have more of a story behind it than Alice in Wonderland.”

Chris didn’t care, he was laughing with Ricky, watching him wipe the tears from his eyes as he had said it, looking between his two soulmates, he was just overjoyed that Talia was waking up, 

“Welcome back, JellyBean.”

Detective Chris Childs x Reader: Stubborn

Word Count: 591

Warnings: platonic, angst, mentions of burns, presumed death, chest compressions, oxygen mask, and fire. Summary: The Reader and others of HPD show up upon Detective Childs’ request, only to find him in a burning house. The Reader saves him Hawkeye from M*A*S*H style because they were not about to give up on him.

A/N: A Magnum P.I. (reboot) insert reader?? Yes, because I got attached to this character and then they. DID. THAT. I do have another one that I want to work on (I have an outline for it), where the Reader is his girlfriend.

 It was late, darker than you would prefer. Even still, as you rolled up to the scene, the headlights grazed over a parked car. Detective Childs’ car. Sleek, clean, and unoccupied.  You and the rest of the team rushed over, suited up and ready to further investigate the evidence he had acquired. But all of that had left your mind a few blocks back. The house on the property he had found was up in flames. It was in the top list of sights that you never wanted to see. And honestly, it made you anxious.  Having parked your car across the street, you waited, keeping out of the way as a unit got the fire under control. Your eyes scanned through teh darkness as best as you could. There was one person in particular that you were looking for. He was the only reason either of you were there.  As the fire was finally dying down, a team exited the house. It was peculiar, their arrangement. Your breath caught when you finally realized they were carrying someone. Gently, they set them down on the front lawn.  Running over, the medical team were already working. You stopped, hardly able to see the victim’s face while they worked on them.  “Detective Childs,” an officer said beside you.

  Your heart sank, eyeing  the burns across his body.  “There was a tripwire,” they shook their head as did the medical team as they leant away from Childs.  “No,” you began to shake your head in firm disbelief. Even as the officer put a gentle hand to your shoulder, a stubbornness took over.  “They’ve done all that they could. I’m—”  You would hear no more of it. Stomping over, you dropped to your knees beside him.  Detective Childs’ face was devoid of expression and life. Burns charred his usually flawless skin.  Bringing your hands together, you focused on his chest. It was quirky, but you retained a song in-mind to maintain a steady rhythm to each chest compression.  You paused only to check his pulse, fingers delicately searching on the side of his neck. With no change, you began again. That night, you were not going to take no for an answer.  Clinging onto hope, you continued. But that hope morphed into a grit of your teeth and you lifting up your hands much higher, hitting his chest with a noticeable thud.  A few more chest compressions later, and you felt the need to check his pulse again. Beneath your fingertips you felt something faint. With your own pounding heart, you could not be sure if you were imagining it.  Eyes widening, your head whipped in the direction of the nearest member of the medical team. You beckoned them closer.  With equipment in-hand, they checked him again and paused. “My God…”  In the next seconds, an oxygen mask was placed on the Detective’s face.  Sitting back on your heels and breathing heavily from the adrenaline, you nearly asked for an oxygen mask for yourself. Though, as you looked down at his face, there was a pleasant change. His eyes blinked slowly, heavy in either exhaustion or pain. Then again, confusion would likely be a factor, considering his situation.  They said something to him, but you did not catch it. Whatever it was, had him looking around until his eyes landed on you.  Giving him a smile, you leaned toward him. “Not on my watch, Detective.”  A small crinkle of skin formed at the corner of his eyes as he watched you: a smile.

Eddie laughs fondly at this one. That had been kind of a crazy, exciting call. And he had thought of Chris the whole time, wanting to tell him about it. He still could, he supposes. But he’s glad to know Buck did, when it happened. Eddie doesn’t know why he hasn’t tried to tell him about it. Maybe he’s been scared to make it sound like he had any fun at all while Chris was away. 

The thing is, he did, though. Not that it wouldn’t have been better if Chris was there. It would have been. But the call was crazy and kind of fun in its uniqueness. The hike at Salton Sea that Buck had arranged was fun, too. And there were more days where Buck dragged him to something to get his mind of Chris and Kim and Marisol and every other fucked up thing going through his head, only for him to come away feeling something resembling happiness. 

Take, for example, the next post card. Eddie knows why Buck picked it the moment he sees the sunset and palm trees front and the font reading Malibu, California, in the top corner. Buck had dragged him to Malibu during a four-off, made them stay in an AirBNB, despite how close it was to home, and somehow convinced him to spend a weekend falling off a surfboard, drinking beer, and getting badly sunburnt on his shoulders. It was a fantastic weekend. Eddie can’t even feel guilty about how much he’d enjoyed it.

Like life, sometimes it makes it easier if Ravi reflects back on cancer with a textbook view of his experience. When people ask him how he can be so optimistic or easygoing about the whole thing, he doesn’t tell them this is the trick. He always gives a lame excuse about the power of a good attitude.

The real power is in shutting the cover on it.

He wrote about it in his college entrance essays with this same scholarly detachment. It wasn’t hard. He has always been a strong writer. A symptom of so many years without much else to do than read, write, and listen to others talk, whether in person or on TV. 

Neuroblastoma - a type of cancer that forms in certain types of nerve tissue. It is the third most common type of cancer in children, presenting in about one in seven thousand. Estimates say it is responsible for about fifteen percent of cancer related deaths in children. 

It’s usually detected before kids turn five, especially when it's on the spine or in the stomach. Ravi’s was in his chest. When he had difficulty breathing, he was diagnosed with asthma. He was almost eight by the time they figured it out. 

When Ravi wrote about that part of it all in his college essay, he turned it into a commentary piece on the dangers of misdiagnosis. After all, it’s what led his tumor to grow to a point that made surgery and treatment more complicated, where he might have had a far easier go of it at four or five. He wrote about that and it made him seem wise and reflective, someone whose personal experiences as a child might make him a vigilant adult. He didn’t whine and complain about how years of frailty dismissed as something that shouldn’t require more than a puffer earned him a reputation for weakness, how he was excluded and smaller than the other boys his age, including his little brother. He didn’t recount being bullied, and he certainly never named the ringleader of those bullies. Anil.

what it is:

superbook is a christian animated show about two kids and a robot travelling back in time to learn about the bible. the protagonists, chris and joy (who are both neighbours and best friends), learn how to deal with moral dilemmas by experiencing them through time travel and demonstrating what they've seen on their journey in the real world

there are three shows in the franchise: superbook classic, superbook reimagined and gizmogo

as a collective, the franchise was and still is a well loved piece of animated christian media along with veggietales, the story keepers, friends and heroes and the greatest adventure

an introduction to classic:

• also known as animated parent and child theatre (s1) and personal computer travel detectives (s2)

• first started in 1981, ended in 1983-84

• the show is set during the 20th century

• classic was used as a project to introduce christianity to japan

• it was the first christian anime and one of the very first to start the isekai genre. (allegedly) its american debut was the first time in forever that a christian animated show went into syndication after davey and goliath in the states and one of the very first pieces of media to introduce anime to americans (and christians)

• originally, classic wasn't supposed to have the name "animated parent and child theatre". instead, the original name was supposed to be "the family adventure: based on old testament bible stories". this, of course, was changed to the current japanese title and in overseas countries, the show was either named "superbook" or "wonder book". sb's name was solely for the fact that it's a reference to the bible

• in 1979, cbn worked with two psychologists, young and rubicon, to determine what would work for spreading the gospel to japan. it turned out that animation/books were the best option and kids were one of the main sources of marketing because they would be open to the bible

• while it was airing in the us, most christian conservatives hated the show bc of its concept of two kids and a robot travelling back in time

• originally, it was supposed to be a japan-exclusive series. the reason? pat robertson (the creator) thought classic wouldn't be marketable outside japan because the show's originally japanese. it took cbn's marketing director, david clark, to convince robertson to have classic translated into english. while cbn was showing it to an expo in france, it was well received and cbn decided to do the english dub shortly after. the us debut was aired and watched in 10 million households

• the concept of children visiting places in the bible was unheard of during that time of (western) christian animation. it was mostly childlike characters and mascots that was telling children what to do, but not why they should do it (this was before sb showed up).

• (cont.) after sb's success, its sister show the flying house aired a year later, the vatican commissioned osamu tezuka to create the fourth anime about the bible and hanna barbera jumped on the bandwagon 4 years later by creating the greatest adventure which was the first christian western animated show that did the same thing sb did

• in japan, both animated parent and child theatre, personal computer travel detectives and the flying house are all part of what is nicknamed "the tatsunoko bible trilogy"

• the main characters' names were different depending on which geographical dub you were watching. for example, they were sho and azusa (jp), chris and aline (fr), luis and anita (es), chris and joy (en), chris and maria/ri (de) and chris* and susie (it) (*apparently his name was also ricky (?) in the italian dub)

• while she has a surname in the original japanese version, joy, in every single dub, doesn't have a specific surname like chris. her surname in the jp ver is yamato

• when it first aired in japan, cbn didn't realise the show was going to be a success at first. due to the airing, it had a plethora of 4-8 million viewers and the bible became one of the best selling books in japan at the time

• in international dubs, uri is written as chris' cousin. but in the original version, he's written as his brother

When did you first start watching Lone Star? Who or what introduced you to the show?

I started with the pilot airing! I’m a day one fan. I’d watched OG 9-1-1 since near the end of season one, and a spinoff with Liv Tyler (a longtime fave) and firefighting Chris Traeger was a no-brainer for me. (How ironic that Michelle would end up being my least-favorite character on the show.)

Which season is your favorite?

Season 3 is perfection. The arcs, the calls, the Breakup Era… honestly, I doubt they’ll ever top it.

Who is your favorite character? (Bonus: If you answered TK or Carlos, who is your favorite besides them?)

Shocking exactly no one: it’s Carlos. TK and Grace are pretty much tied for my number two spot.

If you could pick any character to be given a "begins" episode, who would it be and what would that episode look like?

Carlos. Again, shocker. And outside of the Carlos Begins fic I wrote, I’ve actually detailed my perfect episode here!

What is a scenario or storyline that you would like to see in season 5?

I want Gabriel to have faked his death, tbh. Like, I want it all to have been some elaborate sting that involved having to go underground for his own protection, and that of his family’s. I want Carlos to make detective, and for him to be the one who solves his dad’s “murder.” (More realistically: I want a Nancy-centric episode, dammit.)

What do you think is going on in this still?

Between Carlos’ expression, TK’s background body language, and a few of the Rafa Cameos going around… I think it’s a call that something’s happened to Enzo, and the boys will end up getting Jonah in the end.

We all know about the elusive 5x05 spicy scene that has been teased, so what is your prediction for how it could possibly top 1x02?

PLEASE GODS, LET IT BE SHOWER SEX. I would pay good American money that folds.

Where was the Tarlos honeymoon in your mind?

Mexico. I sent them to Cabo in to build a home, just because I love the Baja peninsula, but I’d love it to be somewhere picturesque and a little laid back, somewhere that isn’t super Spring Break-ish touristy (so no Cancún or Playa del Carmen, etc.) — Acapulco, Ensenada, maybe Guadalajara (where my abuela is from).
