His mother, Beth Boles, won a Novice Jet Ski World title in 1990 and his stepfather, J. Douglas Boles, is the president of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. -Appeared in Season 30 of CBS’ “The Amazing Race” with fellow NTT Indycar Series competitor, Alexander Rossi. The pair finished fourth in the adventure reality show. Conor is very much an underdog story. After an unsuccessful attempt to break into F1, he returned to the states to try his hand at Indycar, his first love. This meant many years of one-off races, subbing for injured drivers and the occasional single season contract with a team. in 2020 and 21, he managed deals that allowed him to race full time, albeit with two teams, Carlin for ovals and ECR for road and street courses. In 2023 he is in the second season of a two year full time contract with ECR.

There is a 'what could have been' story. In 2011, Conor juggles duties between IndyNxt (then known as IndyLights) and GP3 in Europe, competing in 5 IndyNXT races and winning two of the first three, putting him in the championship lead. He then returned to GP3, only making it back to the states for 2 more races. His teammate, Josef Newgarden went on to win the championship and rose to Indycar the following year. If Conor had stayed and put the funding he had into IndyNXT instead of chasing what was ultimately a futile European dream, would he have had the opportunities Josef had? Won more races? Taken the championship from Josef? We will never know.

It could be said that Conor was born and bred for motorsports in general and Indycar in particular. His father is Derek Daly, F1, Cart (later became Indycar), and IMSA driver. His mother, Beth Boles, was an Indy 500 Festival Princess in 1978, as well as worked at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in several different roles. His stepfather, Doug Boles, is currently COO of Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Some of his earliest memories are at that track and others, as his father transitioned into being a TV broadcaster after he was born.

Conor is considered the friendliest guy on the grid and usually does the most to welcome newbies. He is something of an acquired taste, often over the top with his American patriotism (but doesn't really step over into the negative aspects of it). He's fond of using the weirdest phrases instead of swearing (lying sack of potatoes, cheating snake, etc), but does swear normally in unguarded moments (such as the radio during a race). He's a hometown boy, growing up just outside of Indianapolis. He knows the city inside and out. He has a self-deprecating sense of humor, making fun of all aspects of himself. A favorite descriptor he uses for himself is "A ginger diabetic with a bowl cut."

Fanfic Lore

Good friends with James Hinchcliffe, Alexander Rossi and Marco Andretti. The four could be considered a 'band of brothers'. Conor lived with James for several months in 2016 (as did Alex Rossi) before moving in with Alex Rossi for a few more months (into 2017) once Alex had found his own place.

Derek Theler - His Early Life, His Works and His Popularity

Introduction

Giant, actor, and producer Theler is well-known for his roles as Sasquatch in '68 Whisky' and Danny Wheeler in 'Baby Daddy'. He is passionate about travel, vehicles, aircraft, animals, and the great outdoors. Derek also has type 1 diabetes, and he actively promotes diabetes awareness through groups like Dexcom and JDRF. We have provided detailed information about Theler here below.

His Personal Life

At age three, Theler received a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis. He studied in Fort Collins, Colorado, at Colorado State University.

In May 2016, he began dating Lisa Marie Summerscales, an actress. Theler and Summerscales announced their engagement on Instagram in July 2022. September of the same year saw their marriage. He is enjoying his personal life peacefully.

His Early Work, and Rose to the Popularity

In 2009, Theler made his acting debut in a number of small roles in television shows, including The Hills, Cougar Town, and The Middle.

Theler acted as a model in TV commercials in between roles. 2009 saw him land his first Coke Zero commercial. After that, Derek Theler appeared in a State Farm commercial as a "hot guy" who was created by three women. In addition, he has appeared in ads for Verizon, Arby's, Nike, and Kayak.com.

In addition to his acting career, he wrote and served as executive producer for the short film Intrusion.

Theler played Danny Wheeler, the brother of the title character, in the ABC Family comedy Baby Daddy in 2012, which turned into his first big break.

Theler portrayed Riggins in the web series Project S.E.R.A. that same year.

His Recent Works, and Performances

After starring as Jake Kenman in the television movie "Secret Summer" in 2016, Derek went on to guest star in the hugely popular YouTube series "Princess Rap Battle." Additionally,Derek Theler made a breakthrough appearance in the web series "Ninjak Vs. The Valiant Universe" in 2018 as Aric Dacia/X-O Manowar. More recently, it was revealed that he will play Craig Hollis/Mister Immortal in the upcoming TV series "Marvel's New Warriors," which is set to premiere late in 2018.

Conclusion

DISCLAIMER: i’m not diabetic so i apologize for any mistakes!! with that said, i’m very familiar with the daily life of it, as many people close to me have it.

being an influencer meant that y/n’s life was on display for everyone to see, every little detail documented.

well, almost, every detail.

one thing that she kept secret from almost everyone was her diabetes. she had had it her whole life, being diagnosed when she was only three, and she’d become acquainted with the day to day process. however, she was terrified of people finding out.

when she was in kindergarten, kids had seen her taking her insulin and some of them screamed at the sight of the needle. it made it hard for her to make friends so she made sure to keep it secret when she began elementary.

it wasn’t easy.

having to have constant trips to the nurses office and hiding her supplies while at sleepovers, was really difficult, and it only got harder as she grew.

in highschool, she was petrified of people catching her in the act and spread rumors that she was a junkie or something. she finally got a dexcom once she graduated, and now her only worry was making sure that it wasn’t visible in tiktoks.

she didn’t want people to judge her or pity her. all she wanted was to be normal.

other than her family members, the only person who knew about it was her boyfriend, vinnie. she didn’t want him to know, but after finding a pen in her drawer and watching her excuse herself before and after eating, he put the pieces together.

she freaked out, tears rolling down her face as she tried to explain herself. vinnie didn’t understand why it was such a big deal to her and why she was so ashamed of it. his perception of her didn’t change and flash forward 2 years later, they are still together.

vinnie had become a caregiver for her— constantly making sure that she has her insulin and scheduling her doctors appointments. one of his favorite things was holding her hand and counting to ten while giving her her doses. he’d always carry small notepads in case he needed to track carbs for her or take down her numbers.

he made her feel so fucking safe.

y/n checked her phone to see a message from her best friend, hannah. they’d known eachother for six months and had spent almost everyday together, constantly filming content with her and her boyfriend, nate. the longer y/n went without telling hannah, the more guilty she felt. she hated the irrational fears that diabetes gave her and she knew she’d have to come clean eventually.

hiking wasn’t going to be easy. it wouldn’t be easy hiding her equipment and keeping it out of the heat, but she wanted to go with them. she just wanted to be normal and be able to go on a hike without having an existential crisis.

sure! can vinnie come?

she figured that it would be a lot easier if her boyfriend was with her. that way, he could be there to help her and sneak her snacks if she needed it.

“you can change in the broken hut, drink out of a coconut.” she sung, brushing her hair in the bathroom of their bedroom.

“three games for a token, but the rest is free.”

“baby, what are you gonna wear?!” vinnie yelled from the kitchen, not knowing that y/n couldn’t hear him over her singing and brushing.

“you got skiing, parasailing, surfing and a-flailing.”

vinnie walked down the hallway, looking for his girlfriend. it wasn’t normal for her to ignore his calls, so he knew she must have been doing something. she moved on from her hair to her teeth, as she grabbed the toothpaste.

“your contacts need saline or else you can’t see.”

“uh, y/n?” he asked, standing behind y/n and leaning against the doorframe. she could see him behind her in the mirror, but was too into the song to care. she turned on the sink to wet her toothbrush.

“we got the backyard beach. a backyard beach, nothings out of reach. we got the backyard beach.”

“alright, what the hell are you singing?” he laughed, putting his hands on her shoulders. she was in the middle of brushing her teeth and swishing the water around.

“the backyard beach.” she stated, mouth full of water.

“yeah, i figured.”

she spit the water out in the sink, “it’s a phineas and ferb song.” she walked past him and into the kitchen, sitting on one of the wooden chairs.

“oh. okay, well, as i was saying—do you know what you’re gonna wear?”

“i don’t know. can you come help me put my dexcom on?” y/n needed to put her dexcom somewhere that it would be hidden and decided on her thigh where her shorts would cover it. vinnie approached the girl sitting on the kitchen chair.

“i’m nervous, ive never worn it here before.” she mumbled, watching vinnie open the package before dropping to his knees.

“it’ll be okay.” vinnie peeled off the plastic and the stickers, holding it up to her inner thigh, keeping his finger above the orange circle while pressing down. “here?”

“mmhmm.”

he broke off the orange tab and pressed the button, a loud click noise signifying that it was in. “you good?”

he looked up and saw y/n nodding her head, her lips pressed together. vinnie removed the applicator and grabbed the cap for the transmitter, inserting the smaller side first before clipping it on so it was firmly against the thin white sticker. once the sensor was on, he looked up at his girlfriend, holding a thumbs up.

“good?”

“yeah, i didn’t feel it.”

“that’s my brave girl.” vinnie got up, placing his hands on her bare thighs to hold himself steady, before placing a kiss on her head, his lips pressing against her hair.

“alright, we’ve got your pen bag all set…you haven’t even eaten yet, have you?” he asked, his curly hair somewhat messy and his chains hanging over his plain black t shirt.

she shook her head, watching him frantically search through the kitchen. “gosh, what was i thinking?! we need to give you some food first, hold on.”

“you’re so cute.” she grinned, kissing her teeth. he whipped his head around to see her looking at him.

“do you want me to make you something? or do you just want your yogurt—“

“yogurt please, with extra strawberries?” she gave him her best puppy eyes, leaning forwards over the table.

“of course, now you go take your insulin and put on some pants. crazy girl.” he shook his head, getting your breakfast ready.

hopping off of the chair, she got an echo pen from inside her dresser, knowing just how many carbs was in the yogurt and just how much she should take. cleaning off the area, she remembered to have vinnie do it instead— enticed by what he would do. she put on a grey cropped shirt with matching shorts, making sure that her sensor was covered. holding the pen behind her back, she waltzed back into the kitchen, poking vinnie on the shoulder.

“can you do it for me?” a smirk on her face.

“i should have known—you’re so lucky i love you. alright, come here.” he grabbed her hips and lifted her up so she was on the counter, her stomach already on display from the shirt.

he took off the cap with the pen needles on it and attached it to the pen, twisting it. she felt giddy knowing what was about to happen and vinnie loved how she now looked forward to her injections.

he took off the inner and outer cap, the needle on display. he grabbed onto y/n’s hand, his other hand holding the pen. “grab it.” he instructed the girl, watching her grab the skin there and hold it for him to insert.

“alright, ready?” he looked over to see her nodding vigorously.

“okay.” he stuck the needle in, pushing all the way down. his thumb rubbed over the back of her hand and he looked up, leaning in to kiss her.

“one.”

y/n was a giggling mess as her boyfriend counted to ten, making sure that he used all of the insulin and giving her a kiss for each number.

“nine.”

he removed the pen, leaning up and kissing her on the lips.

“alright, play on your phone for ten minutes, and then eat your yogurt.” he dropped the bowl in front of her, kissing her on the head.

“what candy should i bring?” he brought out the candy bag, watching you spoon your breakfast. it was the special bag for whenever you needed some sugar and you weren’t home. vinnie always would pack a few candies and a juice box, just in case.

“hmm… m&m’s and twix!”

“will do.” he grabbed a few and tossed them on the table, putting the bag back up on the shelf.

“hey, vinnie?”

“yeah?” he questioned, not looking at her and focusing on getting his shoes on.

“i love you.”

he looked up, smiling at her words.

“i love you more, my strong girl.”

November is Diabetes Awareness Month, so this is a proud shoutout from a chilly beach in Kent, to all my fellow type 1 warriors out there. Being a type 1 diabetic is like having a really annoying friend - it requires constant care and attention as well as patience and fortitude, but occasionally can be a strange sort of support, and even a power. It helps you to be more empathetic. It encourages you to look after yourself and your health, as well as other people around you. And it means you’re part of a truly wonderful community of fellow type 1s (including my Mum and my sister), who will encourage and inspire you on a daily basis.

One of the reasons to be grateful right now as a diabetic is the progress being made in diabetes care, as well as the steps being taken towards a potential cure. I am so lucky to have access to Dexcom G6, the device you can see attached to my arm. It bluetooths my glucose levels to my phone every few minutes, and so helps me to keep control of my sugar levels throughout the day and night. It’s known as CGM (Constant Glucose Monitoring), and Dexcom have been a pioneer in this type of technology. Moving from the old fashioned finger prick blood test to CGM has been a complete game changer for me. Life is unpredictable as an actor making it hard to keep any routine, and so my levels used to be pretty erratic. Since using Dexcom, not only have my average glucose levels vastly improved, but I also spend far less time thinking and worrying about my diabetes. Most importantly, it helps my long term health. The better a diabetic can control their levels, the less likely they will face health complications in later life.

With all this in mind, it’s imperative that we make this type of technology available to all type 1s. The reality is, many people with diabetes in the UK self-fund CGM and it’s not widely available on the NHS. This needs to change. Please help us spread the word!
