Diaphanous Raglan is all done!
I had a really hard time taking pics; it's nearly midnight here, tho, lol. I'll try to take some in the light (and after some coffee) tomorrow. Will update this post.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I feel really confident in this sweater ☺️ the deep v in the back feels really beautiful, and it fits very well. I did struggle a bit with the mohair sleeve (you can see in the middle I managed to drop a stitch, which then disappeared somewhere?), but that's because I only had my DPNs available and for me? DPNs are the devil. Oh, well, I tried.
Pattern: Diaphanous Raglan, size S // Yarn: Knitting for Olive in plum clay (the color is more purpley IRL) // Needles: 4.5 for body, 5mm for sleeves, 3.25mm for cuffs and neckline // GerTw c /o and JSS b/o // Difficulty: 2.5/5; the hardest part of the project was yarn management right at the start. Will need confidence in increases, decreases, and picking up stitches. Advanced beginner would be comfortable making this.
Fun pattern, and uniquely constructed!
Changes made to pattern:
Only did 6 extra rows before connecting the V. This did mean my sleeves weren't as billowy as I'd like, but it resolved the issue I noticed on a lot of other small-busted knitters where there was a bit too much fabric in the sidebust/underarm area to fit well.
Added 10 more rows of waist decreases (5 knit + 5 decrease rounds).
3/4 sleeve (laziness)
Pics in the sunlight:

Ahh lol I might need a second person haha. It was hard to get a pic of the sleeve.

PHYSICAL PRESENCE AND GESTURE.
1. How do they move and carry themselves? Pace, rhythm, gestures, energy?
Most things about Dia can be described as deliberate, and the way she moves is no exception. She strives for poise and elegance, and putting her body in the right position to create pleasant shapes has been rehearsed so many times that she no longer need to think about it, it comes naturally. Her general demeanor is calm, her movements smooth and fluid. Her stride is unrushed, and she *will* set the pace. Even with half of her group having a much longer stride, she will keep her pace.
2. How much physical space do they use, active and at rest?
It's not so much that Dia takes up space, it's more that she *commands* it. She's not afraid to take up room, even if it tends to be more about presence than about physical space. She almost seem to create a field around her that is *hers*, like the air itself is now part of her, and she is merely inviting others to share it.
3. How do they position themselves in a group? Do they like to be the center of attention, or do they hang back at the edges of a crowd?
Drawing attention is a skill Dia has done plenty of practice in, but when she does, it's with a purpose. When interacting with a group, she will often let others initiate the conversations to get a sense of the flow, the room, the personalities. This lets her get a better idea of how to step in to guide the decisions in a direction she wants, or smooth things over if necessary.
4. What is their size and build? How does it influence how they use their body, if it does?
Dia is a tad on the shorter side, but not dramatically so. She is curvy, with a general softness to her body, a Dramatic Romantic on the Kibbe scale. While she is in good shape, her body retains a softer, fleshier feel, especially around her bust, hips/thighs and belly.
5. How do they dress? What styles, colors, accessories, and other possessions do they favor? Why?
Like everything else, her clothes tends to be carefully selected to accentuate her body and general appearance. She has expensive tastes, and enjoys a wide variety of clothing. She always makes sure it's tailored to her. She dresses in a way that is elegant and sexy, but in a way that leans more towards sensual rather than sexual. Her every-day clothes usually doesn't show a lot of skin, even though she doesn't mind doing so in the right situation. Even though aesthetics are clearly important to her, her clothes are usually made for movement as well, and she rarely wears high heels.
6. What are they like in motion–in different environments, and in different activities? What causes the differences between these?
Dia is at home at grand parties, clandestine meetings and in intimate bedrooms with soft mattresses, sheer curtains and far too many pillows. She is less at home in combat situations. What she knows of combat has primarily been intended for self defense, and having to use it is generally met with mild disapproval. She is a city mouse at heart and not particularly fond of sleeping in the open.
7. How do they physically engage with other people, inanimate objects, and their environment? What causes the differences between these?
As listed above, Dia's movements tend to be very deliberate, and her physical touch is no difference. She will often use a light hand on someone's arm (or leg, if the relationship is more intimate) to communicate, build intimacy, or reassure.
8. Where and when do they seem most and least at ease? Why? How can you tell?
Even though she is perfectly at home at fancy parties or bustling streets, she is truly in her element in more intimate settings, where she can focus her attention on one, or a few, people.
9. How do they manifest energy, exhaustion, tension, or other strong emotions?
Dia's carefully maintained facade does not normally allow for big displays of emotion. She will normally try to maintain composure, and then work through the feelings later, when she is alone. When she feels tense or out of her depth, she tends to slip into sarcasm and can become a bit biting and disdainful.
10. What energizes and drains them most?
Dia is energized by the challenges of social intrigue. Seeing opportunities for making connections, building relationships and subtlety tipping the scales gets her creativity going. She feels drained when the games she play conflict with the people she cares about. Trying to balance her political machinations and concerns for someone's feelings can feel nearly impossible, and this may be one of the reason she allows herself to share actual, deep bonds with very few people.
11. How are they vocally expressive? What kind of voice, accent, tones, inflections, volume, phrases and slang, and manner of speaking do they use?
Her voice is melodic and soft. She's a decent singer, and can be quiet pleasant to listen to when reciting poetry. She speaks formally, but with an intimate tone. She may have a slight overuse of calling people "darling" or "dear".
12. How are they bodily expressive? How do they use nonverbal cues such as their posture, stance, eyes, eyebrows, mouths, and hands?
Dia feels that you can speak as loudly with your body as you can with your voice, and she makes readily use of it. A sharp intake of breath, a fan snapping closed, a glance across a crowded room, all can send a very clear message, if you know how.

In an astounding development, Mr Partridge has abandoned his physical form (which his wife has since decided to store in a cryogenic freezer for eventualities).
And will now spend the rest of his days with his wife living in the form of a fragrant, diaphanous gas.

Got the body of my diaphanous sweater done at the mechanics. Getting my brakes done but they're hitting my car with mallets and shit tf -_-
Neckline next. It's soooo deep, need to tighter that lady up. I've been leaving the mohair out of the ribbed sections; worried I won't have enough for the sleeves.
Trying to get this done before June 11th. I'm taking a trip to California and I want to wear this.
