Rapunzel's Diary #3 The Sudden Arrival

Oct 10th - 1992 I wasnt so startled as I should be, it wasnt only a visitor but a stranger. a ghost you stood against me to make it's invisible presence. Varian offered water, and a thousands of explanations of why that woman was there. She'd told him everything. She claimed that what she remembers is a blurred face of a man full of red before collapses on the ground. She seemed to recognize me somehow, like if it wasnt strange enough. Varian doubts if was a miracle for her to be alive. I asked, how? and then he said that she has a visible hollow hole in her chest, she proved it, and that was the moment I got myself startled. How a person with a hole in its chest could be fully alive and conscious? when I told this to Eugene, he thought it was just a joke. But I denied it, it was real, too much real to be true. He offered me some tight hugs and a bit of comforting allegations, no wonder he is my bestie. but I still felt the same strange feeling when I look into that woman's white eyes. I asked her name to her, I've hoped it wasnt too personal and then she answered: Cassandra.

Isn't it a giggly imagination when we see our hurried and 2 am thoughts jammed into the notes , only to realize some time later how pretentious bastard, sometimes we really are.

Perhaps it's bittersweet memories wrapped in those words.

oof. 17 years ago i sang for the first time. ever. i sat my high school best friend down and had the biggest heart to heart of my life. looking back, that was the first time i started to “unhide”. 

i was weeks away from turning 16, the year britney had her first no.1 single and i was like right, gotta get moving on this singing thing. while i don’t entirely agree with that logic now, sometimes a good kick up the ass is what a maia needs.

i will always remember that day. we sat on the grass, in the cottage area after school and i sang “back at one” by brian mcknight. my girl jen has the ears of a fox and so singing to her was scary on its own let alone, for the first time. luckily she was my best mate for a reason and her kindness showed up in a way i’ll never forget. bless.

i don’t have drunken high school stories, how doped up i got this one night or a schaloom of bad boys to my name. i have stories like these. the tiny moments where i started to show what my quiet heart was made of. the secrets i never thought i’d say that would show up in songs i’d write. the moments i decided to be brave even when i was never asked or told not to. and to me, they’re everything. 

and this was the first of them.
