I don’t know if there’s like any information on this but I figured I’d ask, do you know if there’s any reason why Yoshino & Lalamon didn’t get character songs like everyone else? It’s just really weird to me but I never see it mentioned or anything…
There's been no official statement on it as far as I'm aware, but if I had to guess, my first guess would be that it probably had to do with Aragaki Yui (Yoshino's voice actress) and her agency. Yoshino was only one of very few voice acting roles she ever had in her entire career, and it was very early at that; her agency was probably demoing out various career outlets for her to see what stuck, but she was always meant to be a live-action actress from the beginning. So it's possible (again, this is just purely speculation) that her agency wasn't up for the usual anime voice actor stuff like character songs, and poor Lalamon unfortunately had to take the hit as well despite her character being tied to singing (and Yukana being a voice actress who does this kind of thing all the time) because it'd be glaring to have Lalamon but no Yoshino.
For all it's worth, Aragaki is now so incredibly famous and prominent that they can't even get her back to voice Yoshino anymore, so I think it's safe to say that stuff surrounding her is very different from what you usually get with Digimon voice actors. The big question is really just how much that applied during Savers' airing as well.

you know sayuri kinda looks like she has the dead mom hairstyle, kinda
so time to give masaru (and chika) some angst
aka sayuri dying and Masaru drops out of school to get a job and raise his sister, over working himself and having bad habits of caring more about others health than his own
Chika worries about her brother and the changed that happened to him since their mom death
Satsuma didn't know that sayuri died and when he finds that out plus masaru joining DATS he tries to be a parental figuur to him (like a dad or uncle)
I'm so glad someone finally mentioned this bc I've always thought that abt her hair LMAO Anyways I will give u my perspective w/ Sayuri's death, tho it's a LIL different from some of what you suggested, but I like the idea a lot and have thought about it before.
Tumblr media
Firstly, I think Masaru and Chika do get financial support; Sayuri is a stay-at-home mom with two kids in the anime; I'm assuming DATS gave her money in compensation for Suguru's disappearance, especially considering Captain Satsuma and Suguru were friends, as well. So with her death (I'm just chalking it up to illness), the financial support fell to the kids- they get to keep their house and I think they both stubbornly want to so when Dad comes back, he knows where they are (bc mind u canon masaru is only 14; he's still just a kid, and is bound to have some childlike hope/logic) Masaru does drop out and start working- for two reasons. One - His temper and behavior is pretty bad in school- he struggles dealing with his grief, and eventually just can't deal with it anymore; he's getting into more serious fights and hurting other kids, and it has a negative effect on Chika so he just drops out. He was also failing because he almost never studied, just too stressed. Two - Part of him is afraid of what will happen if he doesn't provide or take care of Chika on his own; yes they've got the money, but what if it's limited? Furthermore- he wants her to have nice things. They're given enough to survive, but after losing both their parents, he wants Chika to be happy. Sure, he can't spoil her, but he likes being able to buy her nice things when he can.
He works a few odd jobs- I think the last job he really worked before he ended up meeting Agumon and getting to DATS was at his friends shop- the one there is an episode about? But when it closed he lost it, and was inbetween work. He meets Agumon and Satsuma does recognize Masaru; he is aware of his situation, as Sayuri had asked him to make sure they're taken care of, but I guess he didn't realize how bad things had gotten on Masaru. Instead of Yoshino going to seek Masaru out, the Captain does personally, and tells him a bit about his dad and his relationship with Sayuri. He outright offers a job for Masaru at DATS, and it only gets solidified after Masaru is able to get Agumon to evolve. Satsuma also does this personally to allow Masaru to keep his privacy; it's his choice if he wants the others to know his personal situation. (Masaru doesn't outright talk about it, but he doesn't keep it a secret, either. It is what it is, but he does appreciate being able to tell them on his own)
Tumblr media
(I believe in giving Masaru different hairstyle supremacy)
Masaru ofc takes it because he's able to work, and the pay is ggood enough that he feels a bit better about spending more time at home. Satsuma gives him mornings/early afternoons off, allowing Masaru to do housework, cook, etc., Masaru is also very grateful to Agumon- and instead of being hungry af for Sayuri's fried eggs, he obsesses over Masaru's. The companionship and someone to chat with while he does stuff helps Masaru, and he doesn't get nearly as restless anymore given his fights with Digimon make him feel more fulfilled. (There is a part of him that's terrified of something happening, leading him to leave Chika behind; I think he's very much more hesitant about going to the digital world, and needs her encouragement before he goes. As much as Masaru the son wants to find his dad and have a parent, Masaru the brother doesn't want to abandon Chika. I also don't think he goes to the digital world at the end of the series; sure their dad is back, but Masaru's been Chika's main parent figure. I don't think he has it in him to leave her.) While I didn't draw her, Yoshino is definitely really sympathetic, and often buys Masaru and Chika snacks, and gives him rides to places if she's not busy. It becomes a little routine for her and Masaru to go grocery shopping together, and Lalamon often points out how much better Masaru is at housework than Yoshino- obviously to tease and fluster her. She also tries to be there when Masaru has his off and down days- but they all kinda learn pretty quick to just... let him simmer for a bit, and he comes around on his own. Masaru is probably depressed, and it manifests as quiet, slow days, or in angry bursts where he doesn't understand his sadness. Touma and Masaru of course buttheads at first, though Touma is fairly shocked and surprised when he hears Masaru say he takes care of Chika himself because his parents are gone. Masaru doesn't beat around the bush, saying Mom passed away and Dad went missing. Of course they kinda butt heads still when the ever proud and abrasive Masaru doesn't like pity, but Touma, I think, opens up a bit and explains his "pity" is empathy, because his mom died, and his little sister is sick, so he gets it. While I definitely feel thats information Touma doesn't give lightly, I think it's because Touma is rather caring towards Chika too, and at least he had others to take care of him and take care of Relena in his absence. Satsuma does enlist in Touma's help in tutoring Masaru- it's soemthing they'll do in quiet evenings, though Yoshino often has to butt in to get Touma to tone down his genius speak to something a bit less overwhelming. This will be dubbed orphan AU in tags. I will definitely come back, but please ask/prompt more as well hehehe. I definitely want to explore Masaru's relationships w/ some of the adult figures in his life- Satsuma, Yoshino. And ofc how Ikuto would be different given it was Sayuri's motherly affection that had a big effect on him.

I want to know about some of your favorite moments from Digimon! I still want to watch through the whole show, even if I haven't gone back to finish OG Adventure yet.
AHH WILL. happily share !!!! haven't rll rewatched digimon in a bit (besides tamers) so I may miss some ough. also I watched digimon in spanish so I'll call the digimons and kids by the name they are called in the spanish dub XP
also Idk if ur okay with spoilers so I'll put moments from othe finale of adventure, and all other seasons beside the that under the cut :3
Adventure:
- Patamon's/angelmon's sacrifice is rll. the first taste of how wild digimon is and prolly why I got so obsessed with digimon as a kid... it's just such a cool moment that it rewrired my little kiddie brain
- Gatomon meets with the kids for the first time. after u get more familiar with how digivolution works and bigger equals stronger in ur mind, seeing gatomon solo all the kid's digimons is. sooo cool. u rll don't expect gatomon to be in adult level (that also made gatomon my fav as a kid :3)
02:
- The moment where wormmon dies and Ken realizes what's he's done to digimon it's just. so good... it scared me a lot as a kid but I still watched it so many times. the contrast of Ken receiving the crest of kindness too, along with a partner digimon dying like patamon did to save their kid.... expldoes
- when Ken and wormmon reunite again.... I cried sm at that part as a kid
Tamers: (get ready itis my fav season I may aswell put every single moment of the show here dkndkd)
- Takato and Guilmon meet. the first point tamers wants to show u is that. digimons aren't entirely friendly, they are like animals and especially guilmon who was just created doesn't get what's happening around him. THE PUREE horror Takato feels when Guilmon kills the rats is so awesome also, especially when he was so happy to see Guilmon seconds ago
- Takato finds Guilmon after he scapes for the first time. Takato crying his eyes out after Terriermon tells him his not fit for the tamer title... and him hugging Guilmon. it's too much it makes me explode
- the little moment Impmon and Renamon have at the billboard thing... they are so funny
- Suzie and Antylamon meet. just look atthe episode is there anything else to say. they are so cute
- THANK U GOD !!! ^_^
- WHEN RENAMON CONFIRMS ALL DIGIMONS ARE AGENDER !!!!! WOOOOO (and then Rika's mom is shitty as usual but we don't talk abt that. but I want Rika's mom dead that's all I'm saying)
Ghost game:
- Hiro's and Gammamon's meeting. I'm not a super fan of ghost game but this episode definitely convinced me to keep watching. Hiro's dad telling him that gammamon is now his little brother isso <3
- gulusgammamon's first appearance (kinda). he murdered a digimon isn't that the coolest thing ever. BUT aside from that the whole episode is just a FUCKING. ride man... from Bokomon's death to the fucking.... digivolution of gammamon. the way u can tell something is wrong when everything pauses for a second. IT'S SO GOOODDD
I think the build up to that episode could have been done better, but what we got is still pretty good tbh. I rewatched that episode like 10 times and was obsessed with gulus for such a long time man
ANNDDD I'LL STOP HERE ! would like to add more but I've been here for like. one million hours I need to do other stuff skkdkd

Jsut wanted to say that I've really loved going on this Savers/Data Squad journey with your blog. Even though I still love Data Squad, you've given me a lot of great perspective and insight on Dubs and how they should theoretically function.
Thank you for this amazing project and I look forward to reading what remains!,
Thanks for reading! I'm relieved that even people who have fond memories of the dub don't seem to be minding all my grumbling about it too much. It's still very valid to enjoy Data Squad - it is broadly the same story as Savers, after all, and it does have some dub-specific charm to it - but I'm happy if this commentary can give people unfamiliar with the original some insight into just how much better Data Squad could have been if it'd been localised by a team who cared more.
And it's also cool to see you appreciate my thoughts on localised adaptations in general! That's like half the reason for the dub part of the commentary, and it's kind of a niche topic that I wasn't expecting that many others to necessarily care about.

do you think that Yggdrasil had to deal with overwhelming amount of emotion when possession suguru/spencer body for awhile? emotion and data are probably very different from eachother.
also this is just a random idea i have, basically Yggdrasil having access to suguru memories when possession but never really checking them cause , they thought they weren't important.
BOTH REALLY GOOD POINTS/IDEAS I do think you could potentially make the argument that Yggdrasil’s behaviour in savers, what with the whole “trying to destroy earth” business could have been influenced by Suguru’s emotions and outlook on the world! We have little idea what backstory Yggdrasil has at least in savers iirc, if they were ever programmed to have their own “emotions” etc. One of the reasons Savers!Yggdrasil fascinates me is because they’re like this omnipotent god like being and yet they’re deeply flawed as like, A Person, who has their own specific ideas about what is good or helpful for the beings they oversee despite those same beings Disagreeing and arguing back against them- BUT who is still capable of changing and understanding different perspectives etc like anybody else as shown in the ending of savers

So remember my post about ranking different Thanatos across media?well I’m doing it again.(just with Hermes this time.
Also spoilers.
Tumblr media
Percy Jackson(I know this is movie Hermes but I couldn’t find a good illustration of book Hermes.):
8/10
Better than the other gods in this series,at least he stuck with Luke until the whole May thing.also he does genuinely seem to care about Luke.so he gets better rating than I would give the others.
Tumblr media
Lore Olympus:
7/10
He doesn’t get much screen time but I wholeheartedly think he’s the second best character in this entire comic(you should be able to guess who’s my favorite)
So yeah,he’s pretty dope.(unlike other characters in this comic *cough cough* hades)
Tumblr media
Hades:
10/10
I can’t even describe how much I love him.
When I think of Hermes this is the characterization I think of because it’s just so good.
Like, speedy?here, have +30% speed.trickster and liar?hmm,I wonder where Persephone is,also what Hermes is doing.merchant?well, just ask his associate!(also side hustle)
Also,he has some really good boons like side hustle, rush delivery, the automatic god meter one, plus dash, and side hustle.
And the lambent plume is really good.
Another thing,I just got the prophecy where he bets you to beat up Charon twice in a row and he really just said “hey so I made a bet with my boyfriend that you could kick his ass could you, like,go do that?”
Tumblr media
Osp:
9/10
Cool lil guy.
He’s fast and mischievous and a little shit in more ways than one and I love him for that.
Also his design is cool.
Tumblr media
Digimon:
7/10
Does this guy count?Only in name.
But anyways,I’m just gonna take this time and tell you to go watch Digimon savers(sub,I wouldn’t say the dub is terrible persay but it just takes away at a lot of nuance that I liked in the Japanese version)
If you like series where the main character saves the day with the power of friendship and this orange/yellow dinosaur they found(and a healthy dose of kicking ass)you WILL like this series.
But,going back on track I like him.doesn’t feel like a Hermes but still cool.
The thing with rating Digimon like this is that they tend to vary between games/anime,my main example being alphamon in world ds vs cyber sleuth(both of which you should play btw).
But thankfully he only appears in savers and I like him a decent bit there if only *spoilers*
Tumblr media
Punderworld:
8/10
Okay, you might be wondering:Moxe, why is punderworld here if it wasn’t in the Thanatos post?
First of all,I forgot about him, sorry.
Second of all, literally the only thing to note about him was the torch thing which I found pretty cool.
So back to Hermes,I really like him.
His interactions with Alecto were fun.
I don’t really have much else to say.

how do u even start getting into Digimon?? there so much stuff, i dont even know where to begin. like, there is like a hundred shows??? do i start with the first one that came out??
Idk man it just happened??
No, but seriously, don't worry about it! There aren't even that many shows if you ask me. I'll put a list below the cut! I'll list all movies too, so it'll look like more than it really is. Also the dates are the japanese air dates.
Obviously starting with the first season, Digimon Adventure is an easy pick, it also has the most sequels and movies.
But aside from the Adventure related media, all other Digimon Seasons are completely self-contained, and you can just go and watch any! They also all explore "Digimon" and the Digital World in different ways. I personally loved them all.
For the anime I also highly recommend watching the Japanese original. I'm sorry for anyone who grew up with it, but I can barely stand watching the English Dub at all. If you know German though, the German Dub is really good. I still prefer the Japanese original, but the German Dub is at least a translation and not a fan fiction.
The same basically goes for the games. You can just pick any of them up! Also, all Digimon games kind of do their own thing in terms of gameplay and mechanics. There's similarities too, but usually each have their own vibe. A lot of the DS titles do work very similar though!
Anime:
Adventure: Digimon Adventure (Movie) (1999) • Digimon Adventure (Season 1) (1999-2000) Digimon Adventure: Our War Game (Movie) (2000) • Digimon Adventure 02 (Season 2) (2000-2001) Digimon Adventure 02: Hurricane Touchdown!! I've been watching data squad, and I noticed all the bio hybrids are very deliberately made to mirror the main DATS trio in some way. Kouki's a battle hungry street brawler, the goth girl (forgot her name) is a genius who only cares about herself, and Ivan...well, i'm not sure about ivan, something to do with family. I'd assume you're better equipped to do an analysis on this contrast, so I'd love to hear your thoughts on it, if possible.
I noticed this as well! I think their appearances were too short for me to make a full-blown meta out of it, but to basically summarize it:
Masaru is a rough brawler, but he only ever picks fights with people who are also causing trouble or challenge him on equal terms (and in the latter case, he follows specific principles and respects the opponent). For Masaru, "fighting" is something you do as a means of self-improvement and to be strong so you can protect those who need to be protected, not to dominate over others. In contrast, Kouki loves fighting and violence, but he does it for the sake of his own superiority and to crush weak people, or in other words, he's a bully who's the picture-perfect depiction of what you imagine when you hear about someone who loves violence. It's notable that he's the only one of the three who's not portrayed as particularly redeemable.
While Tohma came from a privileged background and is quite intelligent, he also was emotionally abused by his family, so he has a strong motive to do something meaningful with his life out of something he accomplished rather than it being for the sake of his family name (while he does make use of his privilege, it's as a means to an end in terms of wanting to do things for others, including his sister, and in fact he's portrayed as somewhat disliking unwarranted attention). Nanami is a "genius" like Tohma, but she only cares about herself and has a snobbish attitude towards "normal" people who can't understand her. She indulges in her "elite" status and doesn't care about morality as long as she gets to satisfy herself.
Yoshino started off the series without much meaning in her life, punching the clock at DATS without any real investment in what she was doing because she was dealing with an inferiority complex. It's only as the series progresses when you can really get the sense she's doing things out of her own beliefs of what's right and wrong (especially when DATS gets cut off from government support but she still chooses to fight anyway). Meanwhile, Ivan is a victim of the system; in order to support his siblings (who are implied to be in very severe financial straits), he "threw away his morals and sold his body" to Kurata out of desperation, because he and his family were so pushed into a corner that he didn't have the room to think about that anymore. (Note the fact that Ivan is the only one of the three to not be Japanese, so there's a nuance of his position as a foreigner being exploited by someone powerful.) So as much as that doesn't make his actions justifiable, Yoshino is capable of empathizing with that to some extent and recognizes that Kurata had been the one to exploit Ivan's situation and vulnerabilities to pseudo-blackmail him.

did Yggdrasil use vines with thorns on Masaru?
that must have been painful and probably left some marks on Masaru
Tumblr media
Nah I tried making them round bc they're just leaves :)) He himself won't hurt Masaru, Chika, or Sayuri; if his kids end up in situations that are dangerous, he would only intervene if it was absolutely dire, because those are their actions and choices. But he himself won't be harmful; he's a god, he can restrain Masaru without causing him harm.

Merry Digi-mas, @nsdrawsstuff ! I was your Secret Santa! (My main blog is @animegenork , but for the sake of my sanity, I post all my writing here... I know it's confusing.) It has unfortunately been a long time since I've seen Savers, and the same goes for Adventure 02; however, I do remember my impressions of Daisuke and Masaru's characters and wanted to try my hand at doing something a little goofy with them. (But mostly Daisuke, since I dabble more with Adventure content.) I hope you enjoy! [AND I'M SO SORRY ABOUT HOW LATE IN THE DAY I'M POSTING THIS!] Thank you to @digisecretsanta and @sluggybasson107 as always for hosting! 💕
Running Late
Word Count: 991 | Universe: Adventure [02] x Savers Crossover (slight Xros Wars reference) | Characters: Daisuke Motomiya, V-mon, Masaru Daimon | Dedicated to nsdrawsstuff
It was a Christmas like any other, but also extraordinary in its own way, because wasn't every Christmas spent with Digimon extraordinary?
Though he and the others had been planning their get-together for months, Daisuke had been so busy he'd kept pushing off his task. Takeru had even teased him about it the other day, asking if he'd gotten the food yet for their fête. "Of course I did," Daisuke scoffed, setting down his water glass a little more forcefully than necessary. "Who d'you think I am?"
"You," Ken had replied smoothly, coolly, even, not a hint of malice in the words. Just the truth.
Well, they were both right, dammit.
Daisuke glanced at the clock. Okay. He only had a few more minutes of his shift left. Then he could go run out for some snacks. Surely there would still be some left somewhere, right?
V-mon poked his head over the counter. "How much longer?"
"Just a few more minutes, buddy! Then we can go get the grub." As if he didn't already work in a restaurant. With plenty of food.
"Daisuke! Mind bussing that table? You can call it a day after that." His manager poked his head into the kitchen, nodding to a table that had only recently been vacated. Daisuke grinned and nodded, turning off the stove in front of him.
Was it fair to say he was practically sprinting to bus the table? Yes. So was it completely expected that he would bump into someone while he did so? Also yes. The unfortunate part of the encounter, however, was that he was holding a pile of plates, and he nearly dropped all of them. As he fumbled with the Leaning Tower of Plate, he spun to apologize to the person he'd bumped into. In the nick of time, he regained his balance. Bonus! "Sorry about that! I wasn't looking."
"No problem, man. Don't sweat it," the guy said, waving. "Be careful!"
Daisuke paused and watched the man leave the restaurant. Shaggy brown hair, dog tags, wristbands… he looked familiar. Or, at the very least, he almost seemed like some alternate version of Taichi. Back when they were kids, at least. But that could be true of just about anyone, right?
Then again, he was a Chosen Child. Coincidences weren't something to be taken lightly.
He didn't have time for this! If it was something to worry about, something else would happen. That was usually the way these things went in his life. Right now, he had a mission. And that mission was to get snacks!
V-mon paced dutifully behind him as Daisuke hurried down the street, scanning for a convenience store that would still have the types of snacks that his friends liked. And that the Digimon liked. That was the most important part, because obviously the Digimon would be eating more than half of the food.
Finally! One appeared in front of him, almost by magic (though he knew there was no such thing, unless Digimon counted), and he hurried inside. His breath fogged in front of his face as he released it, but the convenience store was fairly warm. V-mon did a full body shake, almost like a dog, stomping his feet to regain feeling. Daisuke was constantly reminded that shoes were a blessing whenever he had his partner with him.
A cursory glance at the store revealed low stocks of the kinds of chips and cookies he was looking for, but that didn't deter him. There had to be something.
Times like this, it was helpful for one to have a Digimon partner. V-mon reached further back on the lower shelves for the last of the party-size sour cream and onion chips. Now as for barbeque…
"Ah, I bet you're looking for this. Here, I grabbed two."
Daisuke looked up from his position kneeling on the floor, instantly recognizing the guy he'd bumped into earlier. "Hey, you're—"
"The one you nearly ran over? Yeah, I am." The man held out a hand, and Daisuke gripped it in his own, allowing himself to be helped to his feet. "You look like you're in a bind. Got a party or something?"
"Yeah, I said I'd get snacks, but you know… work and stuff…" Daisuke rubbed the back of his head sheepishly.
The guy just nodded in understanding. "Been there. Bet you got a friend who gives you crap for it, even if he's not harsh about it?"
"In their own ways, they all do. But yeah, I got two of them."
"Ha, nice. Well, hopefully they like barbeque." With a smile, the man handed him the barbeque chips.
"Thanks." Daisuke smiled down at the chips, knowing that the Digimon (especially V-mon) would love them. When he looked up, the stranger was leaving. "Wait, at least tell me your name! If I run into you again, I'd love to repay you."
"I'm going out of town soon, so I don't think you'll see me again. But, for what it's worth, Masaru. See you around, Daisuke."
"Masaru." That name sounded familiar, kind of like how he looked like someone he'd seen before. At least, the sound of his name fit in his mouth in a way that meant he'd used it before. Right…?
Wait, but how did he know his name?
Before he could ask, Masaru was gone.
"That was strange," V-mon said, scratching his cheek with a claw.
"You're pretty strange, too, buddy," Daisuke pointed out with a playful smile, trying to shake off the swirling questions. He could ask Koushiro or Taichi or someone about this later—right now, he had snacks to obtain! "Now let's go look at the cookies."
Though he didn't run into Masaru a third time, Daisuke couldn't help but wonder if he was having as merry of a Christmas as he and the others were. Maybe he'd see him the next time he was running late with something.
Extraordinary Christmas indeed.

For the 02 movie, at the start, the director said this was a story that only works for the 02 cast. It got me thinking about how the other season's cast would handle the movie's events. How do you think it would go?
Good time to point out that anything making me compare different season casts or rank characters within seasons on any ridiculous criteria are the best asks, so keep stuff like this coming.
Whelp, first off, adding our big spoiler line...
And here we go! To set some ground rules, here's what we are considering as "movie's events" we need each team to process:
Each team was formed as a result of powers created by Lui's wish to Ukkomon. Some of these will be real absurd, but we're rolling with them.
Each team needs to hear Lui's story and judge Lui's responsibility vs. Ukkomon's in this mess.
Each team needs to consider the possibility of losing their Digimon's bonds vs. everyone becoming partnered to one.
Each team needs to decide how to whether to tackle Ukkomon head-on, stand back and accept what happens, or give Lui the chance to sort things.
Unless they embrace the chaos, each team loses their digivices.
Adventure
Weirdly, a child's wishes powering Homeostasis isn't too hard to swallow after all the other stuff they found out from it. They'll be more sympathetic to Lui than the 02 kids were, partially because they all have very personal situations they'd welcome divine assistance with, and partially because the bluntness we saw from Hikari in the movie didn't start developing until Zero Two and only reached its peak in tri. They might be too idealistic to consider the downside of everyone having a partner and definitely would prefer Lui take the lead and work things out himself. But they'd go through with it, as losing their digivices wouldn't be that different than losing their crests.
Tamers
Ukkomon slots right in next to the digignomes for plausibility, so no issues there. But if any group is both-siding Lui vs. Ukkomon, it's these kids, especially once Lui starts claiming their relationships are manufactered. Expect the Digimon to weigh in a lot here, Renamon in particular. We'd get a lot of beautiful speeches, but they'd be far more reluctant to let go of their bonds, and kinda distraught losing their D-Arks at the very end. They too might be willing to play out the idea of everyone becoming a Tamer, and might not be motivated enough to fight Ukkomon themselves. This might be the mostly likely season to give Lui his birthday present in the end.
Frontier
Very much doing the right thing for the wrong reasons. They all literally have Digimon inside them, so they're supporting Ukkomon here, especially if it enabled Ophanimon to dish out the spirits. Despite them having little love for Lui, they only come around once the implications are clear. They know full well the power being dished out here, and everybody having a spirit and the capacity to become a Digimon? Absolutely not. More likely to take out Ukkomon on their own than giving Lui any say (or closure), but take it out they will. Harsh but efficient.
Savers
Surprisingly similar to Frontier! Between Masaru completely whiffing and telling Lui the right approach is to tackle his problems on his own, Touma concurring with his backstory, and Ikuto generally savoring his experiences being bailed out by Digimon at a young age, Lui might not bother seeking their help in the first place. They might even laugh off the first partner stuff without confirmation from Yushima or BanchoLeomon. They're definitely not taking everyone getting a partner lying down, so taking out Ukkomon then becomes a pretty routine DATS mission in the end. They'll convince themselves their digivices were only holding them back, so losing them won't sting that much.
Xros Wars
Polar opposite here. Taiki is determined to help Lui at all cost, and Ukkomon's natural connection here takes it to Bagramon, so this team is painting it as a malicious entity from the start. In fact, it's their disdain for Ukkomon that could well prompt Lui to reassess his issues and want to make peace on his own, perhaps even accepting Ukkomon's wish against Xros Heart's pleas. It's then that Lui discovers Ukkomon's ability to generate weird temporal perceptions stems from its connection to a different Digimon, one that creates a new perceived world for all those newly created partnerships to play in, and that's how Hunters really happened.
Appmon
With no connection to AI development, hearing about Ukkomon powering Minerva will rattle Haru a lot. However, once they get over that, they'll use Lui's story as a perfect illustration of how beneficial AI can be while cautioning about the dangers of overuse and not instructing it properly. It's a far more logical approach, but they'll get roughly to the same place V-mon got with his handshake speech. They're far more willing to consider letting everybody partner with an Appmon since it's not that different from everybody having a smartphone. And they definitely aren't parting with their buddies willingly. Still, they let Lui try to reason with Ukkomon, which could bite them in the butt since their Appdrives absolutely are powering their Appmon bonds.
Adventure: (2020)
Ukkomon's powering everything? Sure, why not? These kids are definitely drowning Lui with kindness, with all the support and good vibes in the world. Like their 1999 counterparts, they're more likely to understand his side. Unlike them, they're more likely to question Ukkomon's intentions. It's hard to say how they'd handle the idea of everyone receiving a partner, but if Lui insists Ukkomon needs to be stopped, they'll defer to him, even at the risk of their own bonds. Without as much reflection going on, Lui's less likely to realize the need to fix this himself and agrees to let them destroy Ukkomon without a conversation. Again harsh, but Lui's more comfortable with it than in Frontier or Savers.
Ghost Game
After they roll their eyes one more time at Hiro's dad when they find out about Ukkomon's connection to everything, they're less likely to be that affected by Lui's story. Those kinds of horrors just kind of slide off them by now. Enough that they'll want to handle this delicately and get more information, including from Ukkomon itself if possible. Instead of Lui, they'll be the ones trying to engage it and gather its intentions before taking any concrete action. If Lui's story checks out, they're absolutely against everyone getting a Digimon partner but will seek out a way to deal with it without murder. They will definitely miss their digivices and all its extra features, but they'll keep their Digimon around and wonder how they got through a whole movie without a GulusGammamon appearance.

Got a Savers ask that alludes to episode 45 spoilers, so just for absolute safety’s sake, putting it under a cut!
Anonymous asked:
(Same anon that talked about realising how badly the dub did things, and hearing just how badly they did Falcomon.)
You said in your commentary of the Banchouleomon episode that, at that point, you had figured out what had happened to Suguru; I'm curious, then, now that we're there, how did you react to Suguru in Episode 40? Was Masaru's reaction and Suguru's general aura enough for you to realise that what was going on? Or did Masaru's conviction that it was his father enough to convince you that you were wrong?
(Apologies if I've gotten any names wrong, I'm mostly familiar with the dub names. I also tried to keep it vague in case you wanted to limit spoilers, although if you wanted to hold onto this ask until we're done with your commentary to answer it in full that's perfectly understandable!)
Haha, nope, I didn't buy that Yggdrasil was Suguru at all! I was convinced enough that Suguru was BanchouLeomon by that point that my immediate reaction was "okay yeah this is definitely fake, but also I love that Masaru is buying it, this is delightful". Which you may be able to tell from the fact that I'm openly talking about Yggdrasil not really being Suguru in those episodes' commentaries without marking it as a spoiler. ...Maybe I should have? Oh well. The true nature of Yggdrasil-as-Suguru is not something it remotely occured to me that first-time viewers might be in suspense about, because it was so obvious to me that I had absolutely none of that experience whatsoever.
