Hello! I saw you talking about the OWK show and I have to add:

People wanted it to be all action, where Obi-wan is super strong and whatnot—those people don’t understand the point of the show!!!

OWK is about healing, it focuses on the ways in which Obi-wan moves on from the horrors of ROTS, he is depressed and tired, and the whole point IS FOR HIM TO HEAL!!

It pisses me off when people moan about how “The show is boring” or “Why isn’t Obi-wan cool anymore” like…where they expecting Obi-wan to be able to move on from everything just like that?

I LOVE getting to see him be miserable and tired, I LOVE the focus on his relationship with Leia, I LOVE him being able to MOVE ON AND HEAL!

THANK YOU omg i went out of the tumblr app for one minute and it deleted my original reply before i could save it so rewriting this a second time lets see how much i remember. before i watched the show i saw all these dudebros on yt trashing the show so i went into watching it with comically low expectations and- ???? it was so good?? these cock stroking mfs were complaining it was boring and bad when it just wasn’t?? yeah it wasn’t another fucking action flick but it wasn’t supposed to be and it didn’t NEED to be. it was about obi-wan finally moving on and HEALING after TEN GODDAMNED YEARS living with these horrors night after night. of course he’s not gonna be jumping about the screen all fresh-faced and happy like he was in tcw or the prequels but he didn’t NEED to. he is ten years out from a genocide-level trauma that he still hasn’t managed to even begin to process. making him run around like nothing was wrong and he was still young and his ENTIRE WORLD wasn’t destroyed and hunted to extinction would have been absolute character assassination. i won’t discredit the criticisms about the bad cgi — disney, uh, has something against paying their digital effects artists. but can’t you look beyond that for even a minute? beyond the middling cgi the show gave us such beautiful moments, such beautiful character development. it developed the relationship between obi-wan and leia in such a beautiful adorable way and i can forgive the somewhat mediocre graphics for that. i mean reva’s redemption arc? the obi-wan/vader duel paralleling the training duel between obi-wan and anakin? the quinlan nod? just the ending of e2?? i was swooning at 3:30 pm on a thursday over it yesterday. and that’s just to name a few. all these mfs need to stop sucking their own dicks and appreciate the tenderness the show gave us. and then there’s the complaints about the hack job obi-wan and leia did at infiltrating the inquisiorious hq? for one, leia is literally and ten and obi-wan hasn’t left tatooine in ten years or fought a war or gone on missions in a DECADE. maybe babe is a litte rusty. and secondly oh RIGHT THIS IS STAR WARS. THERE WAS NEVER ANY LOGIC HERE TO BEGIN WITH REWATCH THE OT I BEG YOU. this is exactly the kind of thing that has always passed as the star wars universe’s excuse for good logic. and besides that it was just perfectly adorable and funny and terrifying. and yeah, maybe the show can’t be called a masterpiece, but it is far far far from terrible and saying that is such a huge discredit to it because, past that it fit just so perfectly well. it wasn’t a perfect show but it was a perfect transition between the prequels and the OT. everyone who refuses to see that can lick my ass.

I'm been feeling so meh these past few days, currently on that stage where my art is not matching my perception yadda yadda; feeling down around bluesky bc most of my followers are brazilian thus i feel pressured to post in portuguese (and i really love posting in english, like the internet is the only place i get to speak english at all nowadays), oc art also doesn't go very well (normal + expected) and i really wanted to do fanart too but nothing really sparkles like dbd in 2020 and valorant in 2022, i needed that good ol obsession man :( I've been intentionally following arcane artists more to lit that ember up but it refuses to click

S.COUPS Military Enlistment : coupsvi rant

Hey! So I've seen many people talking about how Cheol's exemption from both military and public service means that his injury is worse than we thought, but that may not be the reason.

I left a comment on one post talking about this, but I thought I'd post it so that anyone coming to the following tags could see it.

Yes, his exemption means that his injury was bad. However, they said the surgery went well. When ACL's heal, they almost never regain the same strength as before, but that doesn't mean you can't be activve anymore. It's also weaker and more prone to tearing again, and having an injury that causes you to be unable to walk would serve no purpose in the military.

That being said, I think the main reason for him being exempt from service was that the risk of him re-injuring himself was too threatening, since even those going into public service need to undergo a period of military training. There's not much of point to enlist someone who's likely to be hurt during basic training, so exemption is just a way to avoid that possibility. It's been about 6 months since his surgery, and full-recovery of an ACL injury typically takes around 9 months. Though he's resuming SEVENTEEN activies alongside Jeonghan soon, that doesn't mean he's fully recovered.

At the same time, we still need to be supportive of him. I'm sure it's common knowledge that enlisting is a big part of every (required) Korean citizen's life, and for him to no longer be able to experience this big event may be upsetting for him. Don't give him hate. This entire process couldn't have been easy for him, so we need to give him the most support we can and DON'T SPREAD HATE!

(I literally started going on a rant dwelling on Scary Monsters as a parallel to Diego's nurtured belief that offense is the best defense. It reflects on his(justified imo) misanthropic nature and simultaneous respect for animals' honesty with intentions and instinct. He's analytical and perceptive before he even gets his stand, but using the heightened senses to know his surroundings and read people's behaviours and subtle signs to me just shows how much he wants to ensure safety deep down and establish a sense of control. For his childhood that was shrouded in scarcity, the unknown in a way. Although he is a man that definitely values strategy, he bulldozes through his struggles with sheer willpower and brutal force. I love prehistoric planet so so dearly but i do wish that they made the animals a little less gray.

Especially in cases of animals that are theorized to have sexual display traits like frills or crests?? They put some color on them but compared to real life animals (especially reptiles & birds!) they are just sooo dull.

Nanuqsaurus was especially disappointing for me. Maybe it's just because it's normally depicted as some kind of white color, but i feel having the opportunity for such a unique color on this dinosaur and making it mostly the same grayish brown as so many other dinosaurs in the show was a missed opportunity.

Part of this is definitely the filter and lighting they put over certain scenes to make them look more 'natural' i suppose. I think the male hatzegopteryx's crest is actually very beautiful, but unfortunately due to the lighting of the show it often appears so much more drab and dull than it should be, even in broad daylight .

This is a major reason the corythoraptor design stood out to me, because they were just so bright and beautiful in comparison to everything else in the show! Every time they were on screen i thought it was amazing to get to see these dinosaurs in such vibrant color! This shows that they /can/ depict dinosaurs in this way at least.

And i feel as though the only reason they /were/ blue is because they were based off of the modern cassowaries (one of which i got to see in person recently, they are a GORGEOUS blue. So much brighter than you would expect, heres a picture)

I just feel like, even though i love prehistoric planet, its quest to be overly 'realistic' holds it back in this area at least. The only animals they were willing to make super vibrant were the ones they based on a living similar bird, instead of considering that if the bright colors of a cassowary are possible, there's nothing that says that other bright colors could be possible on other types of dinosaurs.

Especially considering the colors of other birds! If they wanted to base the dino coloring on real life animals, they could have been inspired by other kinds of birds. Just because cassowaries are more 'dinosaur-like' doesnt discount the fact that birds are an incredibly diversely colored and patterned group of animals. There is plenty of potential for other colors in dinosaurs when looking at modern ones.

In fact, i would argue that the fossil evidence we have shows that dinosaurs could have been more brightly colored and distinctly patterned than the ones in the show, at least. While there haven't been bright yellow or blue dinos found, there has been evidence of brighter reds and browns, some greens and purples, iridescent like feathers, and more distinct patterns like stripes on several dinos.

It kind of baffles me how they were able to make leaps like the dreadnoughtus air sacs, but they weren't willing to make the dinosaurs a little brighter? I mean, so much paleo art nowadays depicts dinos in vibrant colors, i dont think it would be too much of a stretch.

Tldr, i love prehistoric planet and i think it has done a lot for the perception and depiction of dinosaurs as real life animals, i just wish that it didnt associate looking 'realistic' with 'looking gray' as much as it does, especially considering the amount of potential traits for sexual display dinosaurs had, and the colors of living birds and fossil evidence of dinosaur colors.

My rant abt Jurassic park/world hate for inaccurate dinosaurs:

Tl;dr: Yes, the dinosaurs are inaccurate. That’s the entire point, they’re genetically spliced and it’s repeatedly brought up and mentioned, and examples of it are explicitly shown. It’s not a fault on the show or book, it’s literally the plot.

Did you even watch the movie or read the book

To be fair, the first movies didn’t make it too painfully obvious, but the books did a better job showing it, and Jurassic world 1 literally spat it in your face with lines like “that thing out there, that’s no dinosaur”, and the entire conversation about all the genetic splicing they did with the Indominus rex that basically gave it superpowers

Of course these dinosaurs aren’t accurate, they were never meant to be. They’re theme-park monsters. They’re spliced with stuff like frogs and lizards etc. it’s the entire story. As dr Henry wu said (from memory) “if these animals were pure many of them would look quite different, but you didn’t ask for reality, you asked for more teeth”. They’re literally canonically making the dinosaurs moreso to represent what people want to see, and expect, rather than what was true.

In the first book, Dr Henry wu and John Hammond even had an argument about this, with the sauropods. The sauropods were alert, and aware, and not slow moving and dull, like real animals, and Henry Wu was trying to tell John Hammond to change them to be more slow and dim to suit people’s expectations better. And from the film, the dinos are literally ripping abilities like sex change from the genes they’re spliced with.

NOTHING hints that these are remotely meant to represent actual dinosaurs, except for the fact they’re named them. That’s like the entire sub-plot.

And, in the newest film, where they were actually, y’know, making dinos again, with more advanced tech where they were actually trying to make real dinos for science, they made more realistic dinos! Boom!

Just annoys me when ppl are complaining about inaccuracy in the dinos: you buffoon, that’s the whole point. Buuuuuut it is a good convo starter with people who don’t know dinosaurs. “Hey did u know the raptors in Jurassic park have broken wrists?” “What.”

And I mean, ignoring the whole fact of it being part of the story, the first movie wasn’t made when accurate designs were known properly. They can’t just suddenly massively redesign the centrepieces of the show for no reason. They had a chance to change it for accuracy in JW1 cause they could say they made all new dinos, but it equally makes sense that they’re still making dinos similarly to the first park. Especially considering the amount of dinos they appear to have re-captured and used, like Rexy

Plus is it the end of the world to watch our fun lil nostalgic dinosaurs look cool and be badass, whether it’s accurate or not?

The biggest thing that annoys me about Dinosquad’s inconsistent writing is that each main character has identifiable traits that can help the team but the writers just didn’t use them in most cases.

Rodger is good at coding and is book smart

Fiona is a talented engineer and has lots of knowledge on trade school type skills

Buzz is good with animals, which is helpful when they work with mutant animals on the regular

Caruso is socially smart and he also knows how to manage a business. I don’t care what the show has to say, that’s a useful skill

And Max knows how to rally a team and generally take care of people as a mom friend

it would literally be so easy to incorporate these traits into the show in a consistent way. Anyway go watch Dinosquad, I hate it forever.

TrueStrike, mentor to the protégé character. left was him before he disappeared from the public eye after the intense ridicule brought on from accidentally killing destroying a city institution: the giant, beloved balloon mascot of the city's favorite donut shop (Dino Donut, the D-Rex, of Dino Donut), traumatizing a generation of children who loved it and all the adults who grew up with it. there were a lot of kids screaming, crying, The Day Dino Donut Died. The Dino Donut balloon has since been replaced with a statue of a hipper version of the D-Rex that wears a backwards baseball cap and everyone hates it.

TrueStrike currently lives inside a storage unit, monitoring the city with all his high tech computers as he sinks deeper into paranoia and self-pity, missing his ex-wife and kid, and tries not to spend too much time refreshing the FUCK TRUESTRIKE geocities page. he mostly uses his protégé to get him pizza.

What is YOUR favorite dinosaur 🦖 👊👊👊

Ok so this is actually a really difficult question because I have a very deep love for a lot of prehistoric life for a wide variety of reasons. But I think the dinosaurs im most attached to are a lot of the weird, fucked up, strange herbivores:

The variety of triceratops & the various close species that fill the same shape & niche are a big point of interest- as well as stuff like Ankylosaur & the Pachycephalosaurus. Im so interested in these because so many of them just like- didn’t become anything. Like there is no modern triceratops long distantly evolved relative- triceratops & so many other absolutely stellar creatures are especially interesting to me because they are entirely alien to all we currently have on the planet. But some how, through insane luck & circumstance; we get to see these alien bones & learn about them & I think thats so fucking cool

Oh but also I’ve been obsessed with Parasaur & Spinosaur since I was tiny so probably those above all else.

Niche-r dino I love a lot is Psittacosaurs. No one talks abt it except dino & fossil nerds & a really astounding Psittacosaurs fossil went viral a few years back but outside of that no one really cares in the general public ✊😞🦖
