Not criticising this author in specific, but it's disappointing that this is the traditional view and Elizabeth of York is never mentioned in that aspect despite evidence of her involvement in arranging her sisters' marriages, as well as her direct involvement in the planning of court festivities. One would think that much like Margaret of Anjou's matchmaking in her time, Elizabeth was at least as equally involved in her sisters' marriages as the king himself. It brings to mind the time Elizabeth and Henry offered a marriage arrangement to the Spanish ambassador, mainly, Henry says, at Elizabeth's insistence:

After many excuses, [Puebla] has at last been persuaded, principally by the Queen, to accept the marriage, but under the express condition that [Ferdinand and Isabella] must first give him their consent. Wishing to marry De Puebla well in England, he [Henry] and his Queen beg them to grant their prayers, and to give their consent (3 February 1498).

De Puebla later confirms it was Elizabeth's own idea:

Thanks them for not having answered the letter of Henry respecting their consent to the marriage which the Queen of England had offered to him. The King will write again on the same subject. Begs them to put off the answer again. Does not like to accept the match, because he fears [Ferdinand and Isabella] would not have so much confidence in him if he were married by the Queen of England to a rich English lady (16 June 1500).

It would be nothing extraordinary for Elizabeth of York to be one of the (if not the main) drivers of the marriages that took place at the English court, considering that was one aspect of royal patronage in which queens consort traditionally excelled. Unfortunately, however, Elizabeth of York is not usually afforded any degree of agency in traditional scholarship.

why i say this is like: (last time i checked) on twitter the english drip marketing has gotten vastly fewer likes/rt's than clorinde, emilie, or sigewinne's etc, while the jp twitter drip and bilibili posts have gotten basically the same amount of likes/shares as 4.7's. also maybe my search keywords are wrong but if you search natlan dark skin/纳塔黑皮 (on bilibili: video sharing site): there are some videos posting edits from twitter, and a fair amt of people comment 'oh this actually looks good' or 'oh not bad' etc, but there are also people just. being straight up racist, a good amount of people just writing this off as global fans organizing drama, and the usual retorts of 'just go play/make another game, genshin's supposed to cater to chinese aesthetics/beauty standards anyways' and im like. 🧍‍♀️

Again: crime against humanity, positive! God they have been brainrotting me so much lately ever since I made that AU for them....literally my brain is purely consumed by the thoughts of historical arranged marriage au!Vettonso...please someone, anyone... come join me in my hell, I can't stop drawing them....

But uhhhhhh yeah so underrated!! They were a rivalry for like 4 seasons and had two extremely close seasons, are they not perfect for enemies-lovers or hatefucking? 🥺 I still am so sad that they never got to be teammates, it would've been so delightfully toxic!! But also their softness, like at AD 2022, the old men were being tender 🥹 It's just a very fun ship to me. Two old guys who've been through it all together, who were at the peaks of their careers together, battling each other, and then the new golden boy dethroned the old golden boy aaahhhhhhh. But then how they became tender....can they come out together unscathed? Also not to mention how similar they are, but it's hard for them to see that because of how they were pitted together at such high stakes

Vettonso is kind of the best of both worlds ship for me because they're literally my two favorite drivers ever, so of course it's great to put them together!!
