Need more people to realize that "this thing wouldn't be healthy for me" or "this thing makes me uncomfortable" or even "this thing actively upsets or triggers me" does not make that thing inherently harmful, and in labeling something as inherently harmful based on your own personal experiences with it, you will end up hurting, silencing, and/or dismissing many people who do not share said experiences or even have completely opposing experiences with said thing.

Before you label things as morally wrong based on personal experience with it, take the time to consider if that experience applies to other people who have interacted with that thing by default, if the harm is actually inherent, or even has a high correlation, or if it is on an individual level.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people shit on straight couples in shipping and in general as a "joke" lately, particularly in the Dungeon Meshi fandom. Friendly reminder that, besides the evil straights, when you mock or put down straight couples for being straight/"not queer enough", you also make bi and pan people, and trans and ace people who experience hetero attraction feel unwelcome and lesser. I just know that if the Hallowoods fandom was just marginally bigger there would be the weirdest discourse around lost boys. Something concerning I noticed with all discourses the past years, is that people lost the ability to ask / wonder / think about WHY someone (fictional or rl doesn't matter) could have done or say something bad or uneducated...

There are so many other possibilities other than them being the personified evil reincarnated.

Like:

simply being uneducated or not having full information

didn't think it through, made a mistake

got manipulated, lied to by others

what they said wasn't what they actually meant (typo, bad wording, false interpretation by the receiver etc)

they were too emotional that moment to be rational

could be coerced, forced, mentally ill of some sort (distortion of reality)

don't understand what's going on

and so on

Societies bad faith reading of literally everything atm is scary af... since it often leads to cancle culture. Like we are mentally so back in the dark ages atm...
