“Let's say you've got horsepower and bandwidth to burn, and just want to see these AI models burn. Nepenthes has what you need … In short, let them suck down as much bullshit as they have diskspace for and choke on it.” // “It's also sort of an art work, just me unleashing shear unadulterated rage at how things are going. I was just sick and tired of how the internet is evolving into a money extraction panopticon, how the world as a whole is slipping into fascism and oligarchs are calling all the shots - and it's gotten bad enough we can't boycott or vote our way out, we have to start causing real pain to those above for any change to occur.”

She's here!!! Say hello to Patchwork, she's my Errorink "kid".
She's a creepy lil puppet that does her own thing in the multiverse. She can't speak, but it's not like she has a need to communicate anyway since you rarely ever get to see her as she doesn't socialize... ever. You might see traces of her because she will always meticulously arrange any area she comes across to perfection.
As her name says, she patches up AUs and cleans up after her parent's messes. She doesn't appear to lean on either side and remains neutral.
Heres a short comic on how I think she came to be

Maybe ill make a part 2 who knows this was fun to make
If you wanna know more about her, feel free to read below:
How does she clean up exactly?
Welp, heres a lengthy explanation: I've always assumed that the multiverse is more or less data in a diskspace, and said disk contains all the data of the AUs.
For every new AU, it takes up space. For every destroyed AU, it frees up space.
Sometimes when a new AU uses the freed up space, there still isn't enough room, so the AU fragments itself to be placed somewhere else in the disk. This makes things harder for Ink (difficult to locate and assist, as well as causing "loading" issues and glitches) and for Error (harder to destroy completely because theyre all over the place).
Patchwork, lives up to her namesake by slowly and tediously stitching and arranging these fragmented AUs together, regardless if theyre going to be destroyed or not.
As for her interacting with other characters:
If she sees an incode outside of their respective AU, she will attempt to guide them back to their respective universe if it still exists. Pretty good right?
But if their AU doesn't exist anymore.... well. She doesn't like loose ends. [So yes, she is not allowed in the Omega Timeline.]
Other miscellanous info:
She can and will organize anything she can get into. Ink will find his once messy art studio cleaned to perfection and all of his sketchbooks arranged alphabetically and by date somehow. Error comes back to the antivoid to find his puppets lined up neatly and staring down at him which freaks him out. PJ's corner will have all the paintings straightened out. Even Gradient's laptop icons are all organized and cleaned up as well lmao
She moves like a slasher stalker. If you spot her, she will stare at you unmovingly. If you move your eyes away from her for even a moment, she will be gone.
#junie art post#errorink#errorink fankid#patchwork#error sans#ink sans#error x ink#error sans x ink sans#utmv#utmv fanart#anyways thats all ive got atm ive had her in my drafts for monthsssss#still not satisfied with her fit but itll have to do lmfao#byeeee

Preface: I know there are other concerns about the games industry in this tweet, like the methods of monetizing, but it's painting an inaccurate picture of how things work in regards to code.
I completely understand the sentiment, and empathize with it too, but there are baseline misunderstandings in this tweet about what makes a games required diskspace such a large number.
It's all under a readmore so it's not just a wall of text.
TL:DR: Textures big, many textures, big install size. Code optimization isn't the issue.
1. Code does not make up the bulk of anything related to storage requirements in most modern games. Code needs to be optimized, yes, but that's mostly for ensuring that the gameplay and systems run smoothly.
2. Heavily code-optimized graphics haven't really been a thing for the last 20 years. Any 3D game that prioritizes graphical fidelity needs optimized ways of handling said graphics, but that's not necessarily about how the graphics textures themselves are built.
3. Textures are a huge part of the bulk of any modern 3D game asset pool size. Yes, we need more games that are smaller and with lower overall fidelity, but that doesn't change that there's a demand for games with incredibly realistic texture work.
Most textures have to be square or rectangular. Like everything else on computers it's all multiples of 8, 16, 32, 64, etc. So a 512x512 texture has an effective resolution of about 262,144 pixels. A 1024x1024 texture has over a million pixels.
Every engine handles textures differently as well. For Unreal 5, a 1024x1024 texture could be between 650KB to 1.33MB. Many modern AAA games use 1024, 2048, or 4096 textures. A single 4096 texture is between 10-22MB in size.
Consider that AAA games have multiple setting levels (low, medium, high, epic, etc). Every texture that exists will likely have a higher and lower resolution version.
And then think how big the game is in terms of content: how many unique assets are there? How many different trees or characters or weapons or whatever are there? If everything gets compressed exactly perfectly, you're looking at around 20MB per texture grouping (low to high), and many things in a game will have multiple groupings of textures assigned to them.
Hell, if you had 10 8K textures, that could be almost a GB of storage space required for those 10 files at ~90MB per.
Studios rarely release their numbers on these things, but I wouldn't be surprised if FF7R has a few thousand texture files. That adds up very, very quickly.

#gamedev#there's a lot wrong with the industry but we need to focus on the right things#forrest adds a thing

This week's stream schedule! Very small, but it's down to diskspace and lack of short games to play for Saturday.
I'll have a look through this weekend for any shortgames and find some more things to stream for next week :)

Depending on things, I may stream Stardew on Thursday, but we'll see!

So i was looking at some websites for information on which OS needs more diskspace and came to this german ubuntu website where I found this picture, and, uh-

I can't even comment on the "article", but I need to point out how horrible this is. I was looking for information, and thanks to this one picture, I do NOT trust the entire written information at all.
This goes out to everyone using "AI" to "enhance" their work: Don't. You gamble with the trust put into you from your readers and you WILL lose.
Not sure if I will trust any info on the website in general now.
Dear writers: you do not want to lose your readers trust. Do not use "AI".

It wasn't just you. You were just the latest and I'm sorry I misjudged the way you meant that to go.
OTW didn't really make otw-archive for other people. That was the original intention way back in the beginning, but despite them having a Github for it, that software's been in beta since the site opened and it's hardcoded throughout with AO3 and OTW branding. (So Walter and I had to spend many hours picking through changing it by hand.)
One of the newest board members was elected, in fact, in part for their platform on trying to make otw-archive accessible. But right now, it's really only accessible to people who can afford a server with enough RAM and diskspace and enough time to gnash their teeth and cry and code and cuss for over fifty hours.
(That being said, my offer to anyone or everyone who wants to try is that I'll help as much as I humanly can and Walter and I even got a start on writing plain-speak beginners documentation for it here.)
Periodic reminder that Archive of Our Own was created to be a repository for all written fanworks without regard to inherent worth, morality, ethicality, artistic merit, or intelligibility. As long as the posting of the work does not violate US law, falls within fair use standards, and does not directly harass individuals, it can be posted on Archive of Our Own.
Efforts to further limit the scope of what can be posted and stored on Archive of Our Own will fail, because Archive of Our Own is a repository much like the internet or the Library of Congress pre-21st century (back when it kept a copy of every publication printed in the United States). As long as you are able to find objectionable material on the internet or in a library, you will be able to find objectionable material in Archive of Our Own.
People get upset with the lack of moderation on Archive of Our Own because they view it as "the place to go to read fanfic." But when it was created, there was no goal for Archive of Our Own to be a destination fanfic reading website. Most people who first used it would publish on other sites (LiveJournal, fanfic.net, message boards, and various fandom-specific sites) to be read and commented on, and add a backup copy to Archive of Our Own so that it would be preserved in case it was ever removed from the original website/the original website went down. In other words, it was used as an archive, just like in the name.
AO3 can still be used this way! You can do your primary fanfic reading and writing on other sites, then back up your own works to AO3 for safekeeping.
Even better, if you object to the content that you find on AO3 and don't want to use it to find fanfic, or don't want to post there because you feel that posting there would be tantamount to endorsing AO3's mission, Archive of Our Own will hand you the tools you need to create your own site with more restrictive guidelines!
How? The software Archive of Our Own runs on is open source and the entire code is posted on github, along with advice for implementation.
Not everyone is comfortable searching for fanfic on Archive of Our Own for fear of encountering triggering or objectionable content. By creating more fanfic sites and repositories with their own focuses and guidelines, we can create the safe spaces in fandom that people are looking for without endangering the archival mission of Archive of Our Own.

Hello! I wanted to ask if the way that you showed how to rip can also be used on Chrome book? I wanted to make bases to edit them.
I don't think so. I do it on a surface pro with Windows 10 natively installed.
I looked up how to execute Windows applications on Chromebooks real quick, and it seems that you could use Chrome's remote desktop, and that doesn't sound easy. You could also run Wine to run a support layer for Windows applications, which also doesn't sound easy, especially since the emulator itself didn't run on Windows 8. Finally, you could do a BIOS hack to allow you to install Windows onto the harddrive. I recently got a Chromebook off of ebay with coreboot that had replaced the proprietary BIOS but I can't test it because it has 4GB ram and 16GB diskspace xD it's amazing as a cheap Linux laptop but not good for Windows. Something to think about.
Those are three ways you could theoretically get the two necessary applications running on a Chromebook. It's probably too hard.
maybe the apps could run on a Linux-run virtual machine for Win 10  I have not tried that. Like you could dual boot Linux and then use Virtualbox in setting up a ripping environment. Ooh a tutorial, I think you would want to try this. https://beebom.com/install-windows-10-chromebook/

Organizations that register for online sap server access services, do so for any variety of good reasons. It’s just natural for such businesses to take proactive steps to guard their data from threats lurking online. Choosing an expert to offer services may need some effort in terms of money and time however every step required in this management will prove to be of immense help so far as long-term matters are involved.
A lot of companies choose to get an online server backup service take care of data storage in their opinion. That is because regardless of how much one tries to upgrade his server and no matter how many technicians are assigned in this respect, a single server failure can exude continuing work, which can waste significant amount of company funds. In companies where customer data forms the cornerstone of conducting business, one technical snitch can devastate company prospects forever. Thus, having a professional provide additional space in a virtual machine helps rescue efforts prior to securing the present server space.
In case the business had to exactly the exact same on its own, then it would need to invest a lot in updating software equipment and copying information stations. All this could require lots of money and constant supervision. Instead, when the business chooses to use an online server backup service provider, it would save a whole lot of time and also lots of money while in the process. Updating server software doesn’t stop at spending money to put in the software. People who’re in charge of this job also need to be trained in order to deal with the new software. This would involve additional training and recruiting costs.
A good deal of people are under the common misconception that storing data only uses space. However this is not correct. Although data storage takes up of use diskspace, a gain in storage activity may urge the company to procure more space by purchasing choices that increase space for storage. This again involves a bunch of money and also uses up other useful company resources like time.
If the same needed to be done through an online server backup service provider, the corporation could make a direct investment in job efficiency and certainly will have more work done in a day. Online backup service providers, provide their customers generous amounts of digital storage space. In some cases, where the system is automated, usage of data is also enriched much like one measure login that the client can get data as and when the situation demands.
Like this, you will find several other advantages which are connected with online server backup services. All you need is always to take sometime outside to hire a company and you’ll be prepared for quite a while to come. That one decision can help you function long-term benefits which could be utilized towards bettering your company’s progress.
