Things the Biden-Harris Administration Did This Week #36
September 27-October 4 2024
President Biden and Vice-President Harris have lead the federal response to Hurricane Helene. President Biden's leadership earned praise from the Republican Governors of South Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee, and Georgia, as well as the Democratic Governor of North Carolina and local leaders. Thousands of federal workers are on the ground in effected communities having given out to date over 8 million meals, over 7 million letters of water. Both President Biden and Vice-President Harris have been on the ground in resent days meeting with effected families. During her trip to Georgia Vice-President Harris announced that the federal government will reimburse state and local government 100% of the costs from Hurricane Helene.
A strike by the International Longshoremen’s Association that briefly shut down ports on the East Cost and Gulf ended in a tentative deal. Both sides thanked Acting Secretary of Labor Julie Su and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg for helping push the deal through. President Biden and Vice-President Harris had expressed solidarity with the works when the strike was announced and President Biden directed Secretary Buttigieg to take the lead in pressuring management to make a deal with the Longshoremen. The ILA got a 62% raise as part of the agreement.
Vice President Harris announced new actions to help those struggling with medical debt. This actions include new standards from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau on debt collection. the CFPB plans on requiring debt collectors to confirm debts are valid and accurate before engaging in collection actions. As well as cracking down on debt collectors that collect on debt that is not owed by patients. Other actions included an announcement by the DoD that it was reducing pricing for civilians who get medical treatment at DoD hospitals and a track down on tax-exempt hospitals who are required by law to offer financial assistance but often do not. These steps come after Vice President Harris in June announced plans to remove medical debt from credit scores. Following the Vice President's call to action North Carolina moved forward a plan to eliminate medical debt for 2 million people in the state. President Biden's American Rescue Plan funds have been used by state and local Democrats to eliminate $7 billion dollars in medical debt.
The Department of Transportation announced $62 Billion in infrastructure funding for 2025. Thanks to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law passed by President Biden this will be $18 billion dollars more than was spent in 2021. The Biden-Harris Admin has helped support over 60,000 infrastructure projects across all 50 states, rebuilding roads and bridges, breaking ground on America's first high speed rail, updating ports and airports, and breaking high speed internet to rural communities.
The Department of Transportation announced $1 Billion dollars of investment in America's passenger rail future. This comes on top of $8.2 billion in investments announced in December 2023. The funds will help expand and modernize intercity passenger rail nationwide.
The Departments of Energy and Agriculture announced a $2.8 billion joint project to bring 100% carbon pollution-free energy to the rural midwest. The DoE is investing $1.5 billion into helping bring the Palisades Nuclear Plant in Michigan back on-line. Shut down in 2022 plans to refit and reopen it to allow the plant to keep generating clean energy till 2051. Once back online the Palisades Nuclear Plant will help stop an anticipated 4.47 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions a year, or 111 million metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions over its lifetime. The USDA is investing $1.3 billion in two rural electric cooperatives, Wolverine Power Cooperative and Hoosier Energy, which cover rural communities in Michigan, Illinois, and Indiana. This investment will help Wolverine and Hoosier connect to the Palisades Plant, reduce prices for customers, and reduce climate pollution, putting Wolverine Power on the path to be 100 percent carbon-free energy before 2030.
The Treasury and the IRS announced that 30 million Americans, across 24 states will qualify for free direct filing of their taxes in 2025. The IRS says that the average American spends $270 dollars and 13 hours filing their taxes. Thanks to the Inflation Reduction Act, passed by President Biden with Vice President Harris' tie breaking vote, Americans will be able to file their taxes quickly and for free directly with the IRS. Tax payers in Alaska, Arizona, California, Connecticut, Florida, Idaho, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming will in 2025 be able to use direct file.
The USDA announced $7.7 billion in funding for Climate-Smart Practices on Agricultural Lands. This represents the single biggest investment in these programs in USDA history. Since implementation began in 2023 this conservation assistance has helped over 28,500 farmers and ranchers apply conservation to 361 million acres of land.
The Department of Energy announced $1.5 billion in investments in transmission infrastructure to help ensure our grid is reliable and resilient. This will help support nearly 1,000 miles of new transmission lines across Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas. These lines will bring 7,100 MW of new capacity and create 9,000 good paying union jobs. Studies find to keep up with growth and meet our climate goals of carbon free energy the US will need to triple the 2020 transmission capacity by 2050. This is an important step to meeting that goal.

otoya + breeding kink + in public (library…???) fic i beggg oh my gosh (if ur comfy writing abt public smut if not then at home is fineeee too!!!!!!)
shh . .
otoya eita smut mdni public sex breeding kink
@shidoglazer
college was a bitch, and so was otoya eita. after a long day of classes, you headed to the library to get some alone time and finish up your projects, considering your dorm mates were annoying and unbearable. as you found a remote area at the library amongst rows of bookshelves, you sat down and pulled out your phone to text your boyfriend.
[@/youruser: eitaaaaa i’m at the library, wanna join? just finishing up some work]
[@otoyababy; sure darling i’ll be there 🙉]
you hearted his message and went back to your assignments when suddenly the chair beside you got pulled aside, your head snapped to that direction and saw your boyfriend getting comfortable in the seat. you were dumbfounded, how dod he get here so fast?
“wha?- i just texted you, how did you get here so fast ??”
he was stalking you, obviously. “ninja powers.” you scoffed at that, shaking your head in mock disappointment as you went back to your books. otoya stared at you contently with those hooded eyes of his, he felt like a pervert for how naturally his eyes would trail down to the top that was curving your tits shapes perfectly, your skirt that rolled up to your thighs— it was all so beautiful.
eventually, it wasn’t just his eyes trailing everywhere. he looked around the area around you two to make sure no one was there before his hand trailed to your inner thigh, getting dangerously closed to your clothed cunt. you looked at him with a displeased expression, though the way your thighs still spread out for him said otherwise. “not at the library, eita.” you said with a stern tone, yet your facade was cracking bit by bit as he cocked an eyebrow at you.
“we both know you want to.” your strict demeanour was breaking, and he enjoyed every single part of it as he watched you shift around while his hands were trailing over your clothed slit.
otoya had you bent down over the table, both of you were mostly still clothed, apart from your panties being pulled down slightly while your skirt was thrown up to your lower back and otoya had his jeans fly down. good thing it was already late in the evening, everyone has already scrambled back to their own dorms. his cock was so deep inside you while you were struggling to fight against your moans that would most definitely echo through the library. he let you adjust on his cock before bending his upper body down, laying his weight onto you. “you kaay?” he asked in a hushed tone as you nodded frantically, desperate for him to move.
he hummed softly, starting to move his hips slowly. every thrust you could hear a squelching noise from your wet hole and you could physically feel your body clenching around his cock on instinct. your hands were rolled up onto fists, balancing your body weight on either sides of your body while your eyes clenched shut, making muffled noises each time his ridiculously huge cock hit your cervix softly.
“mmngh, eita,, ah!-“ both of his hands immediately shot up to your mouth, covering it and pulling you back, causing you to squirm under him. he leaned down, speaking softly in your ear. “shh. we’re in a library. be quiet, or do you like that? you wanna be caught by someone while i’m stuffing your pretty pussy full with my cock? naughty fucking girl.” you let out a muffled noise of denial, though it just made you look more pathetic under him. he sighed, keeping one hand on your mouth and the other trailed to your hair to grip it as he continued fucking into you.
shit, it was hard to stay mad at him for getting a boner in a library when the pleasure from your hole stretching out for his cock and the pain from your head being pulled back was mixing so perfectly together. his pace quickened as he tried his best to not shove his whole dick into you to not make any slapping noises, but it was getting harder by the minute as he felt your gummy walls basically suck him back in whenever he pulled out.
obviously, it was impossible for you to stay quiet while his cock was hitting all your sweet spots. you let out a muffled moan against otoyas hand, back arching as your hips desperately grinded against nothing to get more friction. one of your hands trailed down to your clit, using your middle and index finger to rub circles onto it. you could genuinely feel eitas dick twitch inside you when he noticed you rubbing your clit, letting out a low hum.
“hmf. is my dick not enough to make you cum? guess i gotta go harder, huh?” you widened your eyes, shaking your head frantically. you already know where this was going. your hand quickly shot back up as you let out muffled noises, but it was practically already too late for it as now his pounding could be heard echoing through the library. tears pricked into your eyes and you weren’t sure if it was from embarrassment or overstimulation. quickly enough, you felt a knot in your abdomen as you gripped onto the pages of your notebook beneath you out of pleasure.
you cried out, the stickiness on your thighs leaking down to your panties while your pleasure builds up, leaning onto the table. otoyas pace quickens once more, shooting his cum into you as your arousal coated his cock. your head threw back as you let out strained, muffled moans. he pulled out of you, your legs trembling beneath the table as both of your cum dripped down onto your panties.
he sighed as he heard footsteps behind you two, pulling back up his flyer and helping you pull back up your panties, now completely slick filled. you fell down onto the chair as a staff member came up to you two with a flushed face. “s-sorry, i’ll need you two to leave the library,” she bowed politely before walking away. you were too fucked dumb to process anything while otoya nodded at the staff, helping you pack your stuff and slinging the back over his shoulder. “try to walk properly. cmere princess.”
he pulled his arm out for you as you got up and leaned against him, walking small steps as you felt the slick in your panties making wet noises everytime you moved. he brought you back to his dorm, a personal one just for him considering he’s the ace of the football team, and the one who brought you guyses college to nationals. he took off your clothes for you, discreetly throwing your panties into his closet as he placed you in the bathtub.

Welsh Music Wednesday
Dod nôl am wythnos newydd! Shwmae folks, glad you've been liking the Welsh music Wednesday recommendations so far, I've got one of Wales and especially Welsh language music's brightest stars as a spotlit artist for today!
Adwaith are an indie rock trio from Caermarthen in South Wales, made of three school friends Gwenllian Anthony, Hollie Singer (who is, aptly, one of the two singers in the band) and Heledd Owen.
They started out as more of a punk band, writing songs with a feminist punk rock angle, talking about their lives as girls in town (Lipstick Coch is a great song to check out from the time). They wrote as they spoke, a deliberate choice to be more conversational and not feel afraid to make mistakes in their Welsh, as language learners and feel more confident. And Adwaith have every reason to be confident: they are one of the most exciting bands to come out of Wales, and lately they have only been going from strength to strength.
Winning the Welsh Music Prize for their debut album, 2018's Melyn, Adwaith began expanding their sound into more indie and post punk on their second album Bato Mato, inspired by a trip taken by the band to get to a show, on the Trans Siberian Express train. They won the Welsh Music Prize again for that album, and to date that makes them the only artist ever to have won the prize twice!
It also took them beyond the usual boundaries of minority language music: Adwaith played the BBC Introducing stage at Glastonbury, and were even picked up for a session by the iconic radio station KEXP when they were at the ESNS showcase festival in the Netherlands in 2022.
youtube
They've released their third album this February called Solas, and once again Adwaith have taken a bold step. Solas is an all-Welsh language double album, and the band continues to grow sonically: they lean into darker synths, write about life and the world around them, find pockets of joy in the darkness, and just generally have written an album that should be lauded.
Anyway, Adwaith are extremely cool. Here's Solas on Bandcamp, if you like them, go buy their album and support them independently if you can. (Alternately if you're just in the area, they are on Libertino Records.)
I've linked the first song ‘Planed’ (‘Planet’), because it's quite Depeche Mode to my ears.

I get a bit upset when I think about how Morrowseer died in the GN. When reading the books, it goes a lil' something like this.
And so he was facing the cave entrance, and he saw the fireball come barreling at them, filling the tunnel wall to wall with bright orange flames. Morrowseer’s dark figure was silhouetted against the fire for a brief, horribly bright moment, and then suddenly the huge NightWing was gone, swallowed by the volcanic explosion.
Now, I dunno about you, but reading this I get the impression that he was like. staring down Starflight and accepting his death. Letting himself be swallowed by the volcano. His job was done. He knew that the dragons that were the biggest thorn in his side for years were now going to die. He wanted to look them in the eyes before the lava takes them all.
It's a dramatic death and one that I think is pretty good for Morrowseer. He's a pretty good villain all things considered, one of the best ones in the series.
Then you read the GN and see this

It's almost comedic in how it's presented, with Morrowseer just running away with a terrified expression. It's a lot less cinematic. A downgrade if you ask me. I'd prefer the tidal wave of lava swallowing him up as he glares at the DoD with smug satisfaction, y'know?

I'm taking a break from The Osix Family and Wilted Ivory
Hi, you've read that right. I'll proceed to go into detail undercut
Warning that the following will be containing very sensitive topics such as su***idal thoughts, mental health issues, and whatever the fuck I went through to get me here and I don't know how to describe nor name them but overall its not pretty.
Getting straight to the point- im drained. I'm in a horrible place right now and I need to take a step back before it might escalate into something worse.
The Osix Family is always something that I will forever dedicate to. It has comforted me, carried me, and saved me from killing myself three years ago.
I asked myself, "If I'm not here, who will tell the story of The Osix Family?"
That made me stay alive, and im greatful for that because if not, I wouldn't have been where I am today standing with the coolest people I have ever met and my amazing partner in crime @alexusespido-dod.
I love Wilted Ivory too, and that's where it gets tricky.
My only plan for Wilted Ivory is to simply tell a story about growth expressed as a musical au. Hence why the art is so simple– not just to match the original Casino Cups style, but just to tell a story that I hope would inspire and comfort others. Of course, I'm happy it gained lota of love.
The Osix Family though is a different story.
Like I said, it means a lot to me, so I put so much time and energy into this series. I sacrifice time that could've been used to study for the next exam, but instead im working on the next few panels or planning the music and etc. Blood sweat and tears (literally) into making sure the art looks good, story is properly conveyed, scenes carefully picked. Even if it gained me bad scores in my exams that made me stress over about, in the end it was worth it to me. I didn't care if I'd be sick an unable to move, as long as I could at least think about it, then I would be happy.
Episode 3 was my worst.
I overworked myself for that episode. I was always in front of my tablet, I never moved out of my seat, I was just there, working on it even if it was 1 in the morning and that I should be sleeping. I told myself: "Everything will pay off! Sure you're in so much pain right now, but eventually it will all pay off! Episode 3 is looking good and interesting! This will FINALLY gain the audience and love the story deserves!"
I was proud.
Until I wasn't.
Reality hit me like a saw. The moment the episode was released I was hopeful. But nothing happened. It was all the same.
And it just hurt how something as simple as Wilted Ivory can easily gain attention and love because it was Cuphead related something well known. Meanwhile, The Osix Family–despite everything–is just barely seen.
I started to doubt myself. To question myself. Was I not doing enough. What more can I do. What should I do. Am I not good enough?
Is the story just not good enough?
That broke me. I began to have thoughts I shouldn't have. I wanted to end it all. I wanted to quit and disappear from the world. Because what was the point in pouring so much love into something only for it to dismissed.
Its not like I simply began having these thoughts.
I've had them over and over again.
As much as I hated involving him, my partner, Alex, had to deal with the many times I nearly ended it. To the point where even if he was in school, he'd go out of his way to stop me, I still feel guilty, even if he said it was fine.
I don't understand myself anymore.
Why do I even have such an attachment to this series? Its just a stupid silly series for funsies isn't it? Why does my life to depend on it?
Unfortunately, it just does.
It sucks. Pushing away my needs for the sake of this passion, only for it to just not go as I hoped it would go. Did I mention I'm also losing followers on the osix family blog? Thats so silly and coquette.
I'm so sorry if im coming off as guilt-trippy, please I don't want it to sound that way, I just want to express how deeply troubled I am because to me it actually DOES HURT.
I envy people who couldn't give a flying fuck about whether or not their stuff goes famous or gets love, I don't even understand why I am so dependent or hungry on whatever attention it gets. I hate that im like this. I want to be free from it but I just crave it.
So, for the sake of my mental health and whatever is left of my sanity, im taking a break, for good.
I will not be updating The Osix Family or Wilted Ivory at this very moment. For how long? It depends on how fucked up I have actually turned out to be today.
I might still post, keyword: MIGHT, its not any update but to just simply draw for myself, but the chances of me posting anything is horribly low.
I'm going to focus on myself, my needs, and whatever makes me happy or have fun with.
To those who supported The Osix Family or even bothered to check it out: Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.
It means a lot to me, you have NO idea. Every single like, reblog, comment, hype or even the silliest amounts of theories or thoughts, they make me so happy, it actually heals me.
I can't remember names im sorry, but there was a time someone expressed how they were invested in the lore and loved the world building, it really made my day. Or when someone pointed out some small details on my waiting in a miracle animatic, it warmed my heart.
I have troubles expressing it, but im so, SO greatful.
Especially when some of my mutuals started making OCS FOR THE SERIES?? Like– it felt like a HUGE compliment.
I cant believe im tearing up as im typing this haha im so stupid lmao, but
Thank you. A lot.
And to those who weren't really into The Osix Family, its okay, don't feel bad, sometimes things are just not our cup of tea, I just needed to express my grief, cause honestly bottling it up isn't going to end well for me (and it really didn't multiple times).
I apologize for any false hope or let down your hype as Wilted Ivory was just starting and The Osix Family was finally coming back– but this treatment is overwhelming me that I need to take a step back.
That's all for now.
Thank you for... actually reading, you listening means a lot to me too.
Goodbye.

I really hate seeing people diss Mike Holmes’ style for the “weird anatomy” but praise Joy Ang’s like???? Besties, Joy Ang’s art of the dragons in the NightWing guide look jacked too; the SeaWing’s neck ends too abruptly into the chest, all the dragons in the DoD arc are screaming for no reason, she gave Qibli NightWing face scales for no reason on Darkness of Dragons if you zoom in, and not to mention some anatomy problems in the guide…. Like Queen Monarch’s back legs look so off and Queen Glacier’s wings look giant and in the way. I don’t like the screaming mean looking HiveWing in the NightWing guide either because no other dragon has an expression like that and its hilarious to imagine Cricket or Bumblebee on that lineart.

series masterlist
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ THE AVENGERS WERE GATHERED in the briefing room, the mood tense as Tony finished going over the information they’d just uncovered about Hydra’s “Project Eclipse.”
“So, let me get this straight,” Sam said, rubbing his temples. “They’re planning to shut down the country’s infrastructure, unleash a virus, and mind-control half the population?”
“That’s about the gist of it,” Natasha replied, her tone dry. “And let’s not forget the sleeper agents waiting to dismantle everything from the inside.”
“It’s like a supervillain starter pack,” you muttered, crossing your arms. “All they’re missing is a volcano lair and a maniacal laugh.”
Tony snorted, though his expression remained grim as he glanced at Bruce and Steve. “And it’s not just theoretical anymore. They’re ready to go operational. We’re running out of time.”
Just then, FRIDAY’s voice came through, unusually tense. “Sir, I’m detecting an unauthorized breach in the tower’s security system.”
Before anyone could respond, the hum of machinery filled the room, and then, without warning, a swarm of Hydra drones smashed through the windows, glass shattering everywhere. The air filled with the high-pitched whine of energy weapons as the drones opened fire, and everyone dove for cover.
“Everyone down!” Steve shouted, raising his shield just in time to deflect a burst of energy aimed at Natasha.
“Drones? Seriously?” you shouted over the noise. “How unoriginal.”
“Let’s save the commentary for later,” Tony snapped, already halfway into his suit as his helmet clicked into place. “FRIDAY, release their cuffs.”
Your cuffs fell away with a soft click, and the familiar rush of power surged through you, shadows pooling at your feet, ready and waiting. “Now we’re talking.”
The fighting was relentless, and the drones kept coming. They moved in coordinated waves, almost as if they were responding to every attack the team threw at them.
FRIDAY’s voice broke through the chaos. “Sir, the drones are downloading sensitive files at an alarming rate. They’ve gained access to every file in the Stark Industries database—including your personal archives.”
“Which means,” Clint shouted from across the room as he fired a well-placed arrow into a drone, “they’re not just getting info on our missions—they’re getting everything. Everything about us.”
“Fantastic,” you quipped, shadows darting around as you shot down another drone. “So, what, we’re just an open book for Hydra now? This day just keeps getting better.”
The team fought on, each member taking down drones as they could, but no matter how many they destroyed, more seemed to pour in through every broken window and crevice.
Steve managed to shield a group of you from a blast, his face tense. “We can’t keep this up. These things aren’t stopping.”
One of the drones locked onto you, its targeting laser tracing a line across your chest. Just as you prepared to move, a metal arm wrapped around your waist, pulling you to the ground. A blast sizzled over your head, close enough that you felt the heat.
“Careful,” he muttered, his gaze lingering on you for a split second before he turned back to fire at the drone.
You blinked, taken aback but grateful, only managing a quick nod before you launched back into the fray. The drones swarmed relentlessly, their energy blasts filling the air with heat and light.
Finally, Tony shouted, “We’re outmatched here! We need to fall back. Now!”
Steve nodded, his shield deflecting another blast as he signaled to the team. “Everyone, head for the stairs. Move!”
One by one, you and the others sprinted for the stairwell, ducking and dodging as drones continued to fire from every direction. You could feel your heart pounding as you rushed down the narrow steps, Bucky close behind you. Natasha led the way, kicking open a side door, and soon you were sprinting down the crowded streets of the city, trying to blend into the crowd and lose the drones.
The team ducked into a small café, breathless and exhausted, doing your best not to attract attention as you found an empty table in the back. The place was quiet, customers chatting and sipping their drinks, completely unaware of the chaos just blocks away.
You sank into a chair, wiping the sweat from your brow as you tried to catch your breath. Clint slid into the seat across from you, his eyes wide and disbelieving. “Did that really just happen?”
Tony leaned forward, his face grim. “They have everything on us now—our pasts, our weaknesses. Hydra’s not just playing games anymore.”
For a moment, no one spoke. Everyone looked around the table, faces grim, each of you realizing just how deeply Hydra had infiltrated.
“Well,” you said quietly, “we’re screwed.”
A waitress placed mugs of coffee on the table, eyeing each of you suspiciously as you all sat, dishevelled and bruised, but everyone was too tired to care. Tony took a long sip, his fingers tapping on the table as he worked out a plan.
“Alright,” he said finally, glancing around the table. “Hydra knows exactly where we are, and they’ve got eyes on us through every camera, satellite, and hacked device in the area. If we go anywhere as one big group, we’ll be an easy target.”
“We need to split up,” Natasha said finally, her voice low and decisive. “Sticking together makes us easier to track.”
Steve nodded, crossing his arms as he leaned back. “Hydra’s already got their eyes on us, and staying in one place just makes it easier for them to send more drones, more operatives. Four groups, each heading in different directions.”
“Small teams would make us harder to find,” Sam agreed, glancing around the table. “If we’re scattered, they’d have to spread their resources thin trying to catch us all.”
Tony took out his tablet, grimacing as he remembered Hydra had accessed everything. He tossed it onto the table, frustrated. “We need to ditch the tech. Phones, and tracking devices—all compromised. Anything tied to Stark Industries is under Hydra’s surveillance now.”
“Phones too?” Peter asked, reluctantly sliding his cell onto the table.
Tony sighed, looking at Peter. “Sorry, kid, but yes. Hydra’s got access to everything. The second we power those things back on, they’ll know our every move.”
Peter reluctantly placed his phone down, and the rest of you followed suit, piling phones, earpieces, and other tracking tech on the table.
“So who’s going with who?” Sam asked, glancing around. “Might as well know who I’m babysitting for the next couple of hours.”
“Sam and I will stick together,” Steve said without hesitation. “We’ve got some experience lying low.”
“Natasha and I can pair up,” Clint added, giving her a nod. “We’ll take the west route. We know enough safe spots to lay low for a while.”
“That leaves me with Bruce and the kid,” Tony said, looking resigned but resolved. “I’ve got some equipment stashed in an old Stark facility nearby. We’ll pick up supplies there and head to the mountains.”
You could already feel it coming, the inevitable. You raised an eyebrow at Bucky, who was giving you the same look. “Guess that means we’re stuck together,” you said, trying to sound casual.
Bucky let out a low groan, running a hand down his face. “This is not my day.”
Tony smirked, clearly enjoying the pairing. “Well, look on the bright side, Barnes. At least you’ve got a chance to watch her back, since someone is currently without cuffs.”
You shot him a glare but didn’t argue. Bucky eyed you with suspicion, his gaze flicking to your shadow-powered hands before he muttered, “Yeah, great. Just what I needed.”
Everyone exchanged brief, quiet goodbyes, understanding the risk that came with splitting up. Clint and Natasha clasped hands before separating, while Tony ruffled Peter’s hair, giving him a gruff, “Stay close, kid.” Finally, you were all on the move, slipping out of the cafe one by one, trying to blend into the crowd.
You and Bucky broke off in a different direction, heading down a deserted side street, eyes peeled for a vehicle.
“What’s the plan for a ride?” Bucky asked, glancing around at the empty alley, his hands stuffed in his pockets.
You stopped as soon as you caught sight of a beat-up, dust-covered old car parked beside a loading dock, half-hidden by a pile of crates. It was an old, rusted Cadillac with chipped paint and a suspicious dent on the side. It looked like it hadn’t been touched in years, but it was all you had for now.
Bucky raised an eyebrow, eyeing the car like it might fall apart at the touch. “You really think that thing’s gonna open? Let alone start?”
You smirked, ignoring his doubts as you approached the car. “Watch and learn, Barnes.”
First, you pressed your fingers under the handle, feeling around for the gap, and slid out a thin metal lock-pick from your belt. You carefully wedged it into the crack, maneuvering the pick with the precision you’d honed over the years. Bucky watched, clearly not impressed yet, his arms crossed as he leaned against a nearby crate.
“You know, this might actually go faster if you helped,” you muttered, glancing at him.
He just shrugged. “I’m enjoying the show.”
You rolled your eyes and focused on the lock, feeling the tension adjust slightly under your pick until… click. The car door swung open, the stale smell of old upholstery hitting you in the face.
Bucky raised an eyebrow, still unimpressed. “Alright, you got it open. Now let’s see if you can actually get it running.”
You slipped into the driver’s seat, leaning down to mess with the wires under the steering column. You pulled a couple of wires free, twisted them together, and tapped them against the ignition. After a moment of silence, the car roared to life, vibrating as the engine struggled but caught on. You leaned back, a triumphant grin on your face.
“Guess I still got it,” you said, giving Bucky a smug look.
He let out a dry chuckle, shaking his head. “Yeah, well, don’t get too cocky. Move over,” he said, nodding toward the passenger seat.
“What?” you asked, frowning.
“I’m driving,” he said, one hand already reaching for the steering wheel as he gestured for you to switch seats. “I’d rather not die today, and I don’t trust you behind the wheel.”
You scoffed, feigning offense. “Excuse me, I’m a fantastic driver.”
He just raised an eyebrow, waiting. “Sure. And I’m a yoga instructor. Now move.”
Grumbling, you climbed over the center console into the passenger seat, shooting him an exaggerated glare as he slid in and took the wheel. “Alright, fine. But if we end up lost, that’s on you.”
“Noted,” he said, giving the wheel an experimental turn. The car groaned in protest but held together. “Buckle up. This is probably going to be bumpy.”
The mission was only beginning, but the stakes had never felt higher.
The old Cadillac rumbled along the winding road, the distant hum of the city long behind as the countryside stretched out around you in golden fields and thick patches of forest. It had been hours since you and Bucky had left the café, the road empty save for the occasional truck or weather-beaten farmhouse passing by.
To Bucky’s surprise, you had been silent the entire ride. No sarcastic remarks, no teasing. You just sat there, looking out the window, watching the scenery blur past. Every now and then, he’d glance at you out of the corner of his eye, expecting a comment, maybe even a smirk, but you just kept staring out the window, lost in thought.
The silence was almost peaceful, but there was something strange about it—something uncharacteristically still that made him feel like he was sitting next to a different person. He shifted in his seat, opening his mouth once or twice to say something, but the words just didn’t come. Maybe you needed the quiet.
But then, suddenly, Tony’s voice crackled through the walkie-talkie, and both of you flinched at the sound.
“Alright, check-in time,” Tony’s voice echoed. “Everyone still on the road?”
One by one, the replies came through.
“Yeah, we’re here,” Sam’s voice said, a slight edge of tension in his usually calm tone.
“We’re all good,” Natasha replied next, Clint’s voice in the background, mumbling something inaudible.
You leaned forward and grabbed the walkie from Bucky’s side, pressing the button. “Still here.”
Bucky glanced at you, eyebrows raised. It was the first thing you’d said since you got in the car, but you didn’t meet his eyes. You just stared at the walkie as if it was the most fascinating thing in the world.
A pause followed, then Steve’s voice came through, steady but cautious. “Alright. Listen, we can’t keep running aimlessly. We need somewhere to regroup and make a plan. Somewhere Hydra won’t track us.”
Silence fell on the line. Even though Steve had spoken the truth, no one seemed to have a solution. Finding a truly safe location, where Hydra wouldn’t sniff them out in hours, was nearly impossible. If anyone did have a safe house, Hydra had probably tracked it already, especially with the amount of data they’d managed to pull from Stark’s systems.
In the quiet, you bit your lip, hesitating. You had a place—somewhere buried so far in your past that even Hydra wouldn’t think to look for you there. But bringing everyone there… letting them see that part of you… it wasn’t something you’d planned on doing, maybe ever.
Still, this was life or death.
You took a deep breath, then pressed down on the walkie. “I know a place.”
Silence followed, and you could practically feel everyone on the other end of the line turning their heads in shock.
“You?” Clint’s voice came through, incredulous. “You have a safe house?”
“Yeah, I do,” you replied, keeping your voice steady. “It’s in Michigan. Middle of nowhere. It’s safe.”
Bucky’s eyes widened slightly as he looked at you, his brow furrowing. “Michigan? You’re telling me we have to drive twelve hours to get there?”
The line crackled again as Tony’s voice chimed in, dripping with sarcasm. “Oh, sure, let’s just take a twelve-hour road trip through the entire Northeast while Hydra’s out for blood. What could go wrong?”
You rolled your eyes, slumping back in your seat. “You have a better idea, Stark? Besides, we could stop along the way, grab something to eat, maybe even sleep. Or,” you added with a smirk, “we could all bond. Good ol’ Avengers bonding time.”
Bucky scoffed beside you, muttering under his breath. “Right. Bonding. That’s what we need.”
You couldn’t resist the urge to nudge him with your elbow, a hint of mischief in your eyes. “Come on, Barnes. It’ll be fun. Think of all the memories we’ll make.”
Bucky just gave you a deadpan look. “Memories of you trying to get us killed, maybe.”
Tony’s voice cut back in, sounding exasperated but resigned. “Fine. Let’s head for Michigan. If this is our best shot, we’ll take it. Everyone, get some food, gas up, and keep a low profile. We’ll meet up as soon as we’re out of range.”
“Copy that,” Steve’s voice came through. “See you all there.”
With a final crackle, the walkie went silent. You tossed it back onto the dashboard and leaned back, watching the sun dip lower over the countryside. The nerves that had been coiled in your stomach began to settle as you mentally prepared yourself for where you were headed.
Bucky stayed quiet for a moment, clearly mulling over the unexpected revelation that you had a place to take everyone, a place you’d never mentioned.
“So,” he said finally, glancing at you, “what’s in Michigan?”
You just shrugged, not looking at him. “Old ties, I guess. Somewhere no one would think to look.”
Bucky studied your profile for a second, something unreadable in his expression, but he didn’t press you for details. He just turned his eyes back to the road, gripping the wheel as he accelerated. The car hummed along the empty highway, and for the first time, you felt a strange sense of calm creeping in, knowing you’d be heading somewhere familiar.
After a few hours of driving through nothing but countryside and dusty roads, Bucky finally pulled the Cadillac into a small gas station on the outskirts of a rundown town. The pump was ancient, the kind you almost expected to crank by hand, and the station itself looked like it hadn’t seen a remodel since the ‘80s. Perfect, really, for laying low.
As he put the car in park, you stretched, groaning, and finally stepped out of the car, feeling your stiff muscles relax. “Alright, I’ll get food. You do...whatever grumpy, ex-Winter Soldiers do while getting gas.”
He rolled his eyes “Just try not to buy out the entire snack aisle, alright?”
“Oh, you mean like you and your gas station jerky addiction?” You said with a grin.
Without waiting for his comeback, you headed inside the convenience store. It was small and smelled faintly of burnt coffee, but it was stocked with the essentials: stale pastries, greasy bags of chips, and suspiciously flavored sodas. You went straight for the snacks, grabbing a few bags of chips, a pack of donuts that looked questionably old, and—just because you could—a bright green bottle of soda.
When you returned to the car, Bucky was finishing up at the pump, giving the Cadillac a cautious once-over as if it might fall apart any second. He looked up when you handed him the bottle.
“Green Lightning Blast?” he asked, raising an eyebrow. “Are you trying to poison me?”
“Oh, please,” you said with a smirk. “This is quality gas station soda. You’re lucky I didn’t grab Mystery Melon instead.” You leaned into the trunk, arranging the bags of chips like they were valuable cargo.
Bucky uncapped the soda, sniffed it cautiously, then took a small sip before grimacing. “Tastes like nuclear waste.”
“Good for the soul,” you quipped, popping open a bag of chips and tossing one into your mouth as you hopped into the passenger seat.
Just as he was about to follow you, Bucky suddenly stopped and glanced across the street at a dingy hardware store, a thoughtful look crossing his face.
“Hold on,” he said, sounding half to himself.
You frowned, watching him as he headed across the street. “Where the hell are you going?”
“Hardware store,” he called back, not looking over his shoulder.
“Why?” you asked, hurrying to catch up, half-amused and half-irritated. “In case you forgot, I literally control shadows. I could just snap my fingers and—” You waved your hand theatrically in front of him, “boom. Done. Easy.”
“Yeah, well, in case you forgot,” Bucky replied, deadpan, “I don’t trust things I can’t see. And I’m sure as hell not trusting my life to some tricked-out parlor magic.”
You rolled your eyes, following him inside. “Wow, sounds like someone needs a lesson in appreciating useful skills.”
He ignored your comment, grabbing a basket and heading straight for the aisle with the camping and hunting gear. You watched as he loaded up on some surprisingly heavy-duty stuff—flashlights, a utility knife, zip ties, rope, even a small hatchet.
“Are we escaping Hydra or reenacting a camping trip from hell?” you asked, leaning over the basket to eye the growing pile. “Are you planning to hunt with that, or are you just compensating for something?”
Bucky shot you a glare. “You wanna keep it down? I’m making sure we have options.”
You held up a flashlight, wiggling it in his face. “Options? This is the kind of thing that screams, ‘I live alone in a cabin and only eat canned beans.’”
Bucky just plucked the flashlight out of your hands. “I’d rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it.”
You scoffed, but couldn’t help the grin spreading on your face. “Sure, whatever you say, Boy Scout.”
With his basket full, Bucky finally headed toward the register, where a bored-looking cashier barely glanced up as he scanned the items. When the total came up, Bucky fished around in his pocket, mumbling something about how “Tony better reimburse us for all this.”
When you finally got back to the car, Bucky loaded up the trunk, placing his hardware store haul next to the snacks you’d bought, each bag and tool meticulously arranged.
You slumped back into the passenger seat, watching as he placed the hatchet at an angle—perfectly within reach if he ever needed to grab it. He caught your eye and raised an eyebrow as if daring you to comment.
“You know,” you said, smirking as he closed the trunk, “most people just carry a pocketknife. But hey, what do I know?”
Bucky shook his head, walking around to the driver’s side. “I’m just being prepared. You want to make fun of it, go ahead, but when this axe comes in handy, I’ll remember that.”
“Oh, trust me,” you said as he got in, buckling up. “If you pull out that hatchet mid-mission, I’ll take a front-row seat to watch the show.”
As Bucky started the car, you threw a couple of chips into your mouth and glanced over, eyes bright with mischief. “So, how does it feel, Barnes? Out here on a top-secret, off-the-grid, government fugitive road trip. Just you, me, and a trunk full of discount hardware.”
He shook his head, eyes focused on the road but unable to hide the small smile tugging at his lips. “Feels like I’m babysitting an overconfident shadow with a snack addiction.”
You laughed, tossing another chip into your mouth. “Hey, you’re the one who insisted on the hatchet. I’m just here for the chips and the company.”
“Lucky me,” he muttered, accelerating as the gas station faded into the distance.

Are Snapping Turtle and Sunhunter/Cove in looovvveee? Also what were Sunhunters parents like?
Also I really really really like your art and ocs and I can’t wait to see more of them!!!
Sunhunters parents were a pretty secretive pair. They raised Sunhunter lovingly but never really told her about how they met or what other family sunhunter may have. They passed with their secrets leaving sunhunter to only wonder alone.
As for sunhunter and snapping turtle.....👀
Snapping turtle certainly has some feelings but is a bit too nervous to express them. There is also plenty of outside factors that make it a bit hard for the two to be an offical pairing. One being the constant dangers of the war, stress over the dod, and an ever growing powerful seawing queen... who does not care for animus disgused spies.
all in all lets just say the pair would love to just do laundry and taxes in another universe
also tysm!!! im glad your enjoying <3

Matt Gertz at MMFA:
President Donald Trump’s second administration hasn’t yet hit the 100-day mark, but Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth is already being routinely described as “embattled.” On Friday, Hegseth fired three of the top aides he had brought with him to the Pentagon amid an investigation into unauthorized leaks. Sunday brought two new body blows: News that Hegseth had shared details about U.S. strikes in Yemen in a second unsecured Signal chat — this one including his wife, brother, and personal lawyer — and a scathing op-ed from a former top Pentagon spokesperson who accused Hegseth of creating “total chaos” at the department. It’s unnerving to see the management of the world’s most powerful military described as “a run of chaos that is unmatched in the recent history of the Defense Department,” or to read reports about how the internal dysfunction is leading some officials “to wonder how the Pentagon would function in a national security crisis.” Trump, however, is standing by Hegseth — apparently the only reporting that can get high-level figures removed in this administration is that of conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer. Hegseth’s disastrous run at the Pentagon is entirely predictable, the natural result of elevating a co-host of Fox & Friends’ weekend edition to sixth in the line of succession because the president liked his Fox News hits.
Hegseth lacked anything resembling the traditional qualifications to lead the Defense Department. Other recent picks have leaned on their experience at the top levels of the military, the Pentagon bureaucracy, or congressional oversight of the department, but Hegseth had none of these — he led a platoon in the Army National Guard and oversaw small right-wing veterans organizations before joining Fox as a contributor in 2014. His elevation might nonetheless be explicable if he had unique personal virtues or strong outside-the-box ideas for how to manage the Pentagon, but he’s been dogged by reports of public drunkenness, sexual assault, and financial mismanagement, while his vision for the military seems to begin and end with the notion that it had become excessively “woke.” What Hegseth had in spades was the one attribute Trump seems to value above all others — years of expressing sycophantic public support for the president on Fox. For Trump, a Fox obsessive who stocked both of his administrations with familiar faces from the network’s green rooms, that was enough.
Trump reportedly considered Hegseth to lead the Department of Veterans Affairs in his first term but ultimately retained him as an outside adviser — one whose counsel he took in offering clemency to several accused and convicted war criminals the Fox host boosted. But for his second time in the Oval Office, Trump tapped Hegseth to run the DOD. Asking a Fox & Friends weekend host to oversee a massive bureaucracy with millions of military and civilian employees and a budget in the hundreds of billions is obviously stupid, and Hegseth’s nomination appeared to be in jeopardy amid a series of damning reports. But Trump’s MAGA media supporters decided to lay down a marker, threatening Republican senators with primary challenges if they did not support Hegseth’s confirmation, and he ultimately squeaked through as Vice President JD Vance voted to break the Senate’s 50-50 tie. Hegseth’s actions in office quickly vindicated his critics and forced his defenders to scramble on his behalf. March’s revelation that Hegseth had shared detailed information about imminent U.S. military strikes over a commercial messaging app led to days of strained explanations from his former Fox colleagues and others in the MAGA media.
[...] Hegseth isn’t the only right-wing media star turned top Trump appointee to struggle in the administration’s early days, and we should expect more such stories in the days to come. The president has prioritized hiring people who are adept at throwing red meat to the MAGA base.
The elevation of DUI Hire and former Fox and Friends Weekend host Pete Hegseth to lead the Department of Defense is turning out like what I (and many other sane people) see: a colossal disaster. Honestly, he’s likely gone and heading back to the right-wing media apparatus somewhere by the end of this year.

I drew the False DoD!
Details under the cut (from left to right.) also minor spoilers for the first arc.
Viper: I really loved drawing her- her colour pallet and expression were so fun to do. I wish we got to see more of her character, I feel like she had some wasted potential. Squid: I LOVE his design. I think it might be my favourite out of the five. I like the jewellery I added to him. He’s canonically obsessed with treasure, so I think Nautilus would eventually just give in and get him some. Also I made his pupils rectangular because I headcanon that MudWings and SeaWings under a lot of stress would have those. Just a nod to how he isn’t as shallow as he seems. Fatespeaker: I made her eyes all white to show that she has ‘foresight’. She doesn’t really. I’ll give you the option to choose whether I put that there for symbolism, or if you think she learned to roll her eyes up in her head to convince people her visions were real. Ochre: I tried to make him look bigger but it just wasn’t happening. In the end his design was pretty bland, just your average MudWing dragonet, if much grumpier. Sorry, guys. Flame: I made him pink, which I think suits him a lot. He was the first one I drew, so I like him a lot. This is before the incident with Viper, so he doesn’t have his telltale scar.

[ID: A digital comic with 7 panels. All panels except for the second and sixth are a solid green-blue. The background outside the panels is a very pale brown with faint splatters. The first panel is an upper corner cut out of the larger second panel. Riptide shouts "MUDWING!" with a startled expression. In the second panel Riptide is stopped in his tracks by the larger Brine, who glares at him. Fen stands in front of them with a dead boar, looking at him with a furrowed brow. Brine tells Riptide "Don't lay a claw on her. She's our bigwings". The background is of tropical plants bleeding out onto the beach. The third panel is Nebula saying, "He's loud, we gotta kill him", to which Outcrop responds, "No we don't." The fourth panel is Majesty looking nervously and saying "Can we not talk about killing someone? Please?" The fifth panel is a confused Fen asking, "Who is this guy?" The sixth panel is a larger bust of Brine on the right and a smaller Riptide on the left with a confused expression. A couple of question marks radiate off him. Brine says, "We're not killing him. I doubt he's a snitch. He could help us". The background is waves crashing onto the beach. The seventh panel is Riptide with a raised hand asking, "Who are you guys exactly?" End ID.]
Decided to start working on an OC-insert (or whatever it's called) dragonets of destiny. Here's a comic of them meeting Riptide because I thought it'd be fun.
The SeaWing dragonet is Brine, the MudWing is Fen, the SandWing is Outcrop, the NightWing is Nebula, and the RainWing is Majesty. They're not as outgoing as the canon DoD but they still love each other and make friendship bracelets :)
